EXTREME OIL CONSUMPTION AND WEAK COOLING FANS. WORSE WHEN THE ENGINE IS IN A PULL/ACCELERATING.
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR THE GEAR GETS STUCK AND YOU HAVE TO ALLOW IT TIME TO CATCH UP WITH THE ACCELERATOR SO YOU CAN TAKE OFF IF YOUR SITTING AT A LIGHT OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE SPEED WHEN DRIVING. IT ALSO JERKS AT TIMES WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE HAD THE VEHICLE TESTED TO SEE WHY? I WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CRANK SENSOR? THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. WE HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED 09/22/2015 DUE TO ENGINE SHUTTING OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND WE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES.!
NISSAN ALTIMA 2006 REPEATEDLY FAILS TO START. ONCE WE GOT IT STARTED WE WOULD DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE AND THEN IT WOULD DIE OUT. VERY SCARY AS WE WERE ON A TRAFFIC ROADWAY. WE PROCEEDED TO A SERVICE CENTER TO GET A NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BUT THAT ONLY STARTED THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MOMENTS THEN IT DIED OUT AGAIN. REPAIR TECHNICIAN INFORMED US IT WAS THE NISSAN COMPUTER BOX INDICATING IT WAS READING EVERYTHING "BACKWARDS" AND THUS THE CAR COULD NOT DETERMINE HOW TO START THE CAR ANYMORE. THE SERVICE CENTER GOT IN TOUCH WITH A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND ORDERED A NEW COMPUTER BOX. THE NEW COMPUTER DID NOT WORK EITHER! WE ARE STUCK WITH AN INOPERABLE VEHICLE. HELP!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 201,013.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAM SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE CHANGING THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS WERE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CORROSION WAS ALSO APPARENT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR RUSTED AWAY - ABOUT 16" X 8" DAMAGED AREA. MUST HAVE STARTED LONG AGO, BUT I ONLY CAUGHT IT RECENTLY AND TODAY I BEGAN TO TRY TO REPAIR IT, BUT THE DAMAGE IS MUCH WORSE THAN WHAT I COULD INITIALLY SEE. THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW WITH ALTIMAS IN THIS AGE RANGE, BUT NISSAN IS IGNORING.
FLOORBOARD IS RUSTED THROUGH. NOTICED SOFT SPOT IN FLOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE OF VEHICLE. LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND SAW A RUSTED HOLE APPROXIMATELY 8" X 16" IN SIZE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOORBOARD, AND SIGNS OF RUST STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD TOO. I DO NOT EXPECT THIS OF A NINE YEAR OLD VEHICLE, AND SUSPECT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR A WHILE. I CONTACTED NISSAN SUPPORT, I WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THE DEALER ESTIMATED THE COST OF REPAIR TO BE AROUND $2150. I RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP CALL FROM NISSAN AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, UPPER BACK, AND RIGHT FOOT. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
DEAR SIR/MADAM, I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT AND NOTIFY THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED RECENTLY WITH MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5L ENGINE. I WAS WAITING ON THE SIGNAL TO TURN LEFT WHEN MY CAR FIRST SHUT OFF ON ME WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SIGNS. I TURNED OFF MY IGNITION AND TRIED TO START MY CAR, IT STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. NEXT MORNING, I LEFT MY HOME FOR GROCERY AND I WAS DRIVING ON THE SIDE STREET AND MY CAR SHUT OFF ON ME AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME MY CAR WAS MOVING ON A TWO WAY STREET AND LUCKILY NO CAR WAS BEHIND ME. ALSO, ALL LIGHTS TURNED ON THIS TIME IN MY DASHBOARD AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYED ON. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TURNED IT BACK ON, I GOT PANICED BUT THIS TIME MY CAR STARTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE GROCERY STORE TO DO MY GROCERIES AND WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE AFTER AN HOUR FROM THE STORE, MY CAR DID NOT WANT TO START. NOW, I BECAME MORE CONCERNED AND FINALLY WHEN MY CAR STARTED, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO NEAREST OREILLY'S ON MY WAY HOME TO GET IT CHECKED. THEY TESTED MY BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND TOLD ME THAT ALL OF THEM WERE WORKING FINE BUT THE COMPUTER IS READING THE CODE P0340 WHICH REPRESENTS THE CAMSHAFT CENSOR IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE TESTED AND RECEIVING THE RESULTS, ON MY WAY HOME IT TUNED OFF ON ME TWICE AGAIN AT THE SIGNALS. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH I NOTICED THAT NISSAN HAD A RECALL FOR POTENTIAL DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT CENSORS ON 653,910 UNITS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V-527. I CALLED THE NISSAN 1-800-647-7261 NUMBER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A FREE REMEDY EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS FALLS UNDER THE SAME EQUIPMENT/PART RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR SINCE THEN. PLEASE CONSIDER MY COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS SERIOUS CONCERN AND ADVISE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. TKS!
WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE/TIRE ROTATION AND MECHANIC SAID THAT BOTH DRIVER AND PASENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS WERE ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH. CONTACTED NISSAN DEALER I PURCHASED CAR FROM, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT THAT NISSAN HAS ISSUED A "SERVICE BULLETIN" ON HOW TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. COST OF REPLACEMENT PARTS AND LABOR WAS IN EXCESS OF $3,000. DO NOT FEEL THAT A TEN YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD BE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. CAR HAS 170K MILES BUT OTHERWISE IS IN FLAWLESS CONDITION.
TAKATA RECALL. MY BACK SEAT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE SEAT BELT BROKE
1. CAR RANDOMLY HAS SLOW ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. I CAN TURN OFF THE CAR, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND IT BEGINS WORKING OK AGAIN. 2. CAR SOMETIMES RANDOMLY LOSES POWER WITH NO WARNING. 3. SOMETIMES IF IT STALLS AND EVENTUALLY CRANKS UP, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES SLOW ACCELERATION ISSUES AGAIN BUT THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE TAKEN TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE SHOP REPEATED AND THEY DON'T PULL ANYTHING ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. NO PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, CHANGED OUR CAN SENSOR, CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, EVERYTHING SEEMS GOOD FOR A LITTLE WHILE (FEW DAYS OR COUPLE OF WEEKS) AND THEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN. I READ IN VARIOUS FORUMS THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE HAPPENING WITH MANY ALTIMAS FOR VARIOUS MODEL YEARS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS ISSUE HAS NOT CALLED FOR A NATIONAL RECALL. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! MY FRIEND ALSO HAS A 2006 ALTIMA AND HER CAR HAS BEGUN TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING!. PLEASE HELP. THE FIRST TIME IT LOST POWER IT WAS DURING A MORNING COMMUTE TO WORK WHILE DRIVING ON THE CALIFORNIA 91 FREEWAY! IT REALLY TERRIFIED ME BECAUSE I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR INVOLVED IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED LAST WEEK. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY OR LONG DISTANCES. I HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR THE WEEKEND BECAUSE I HAD TO WORK TODAY, AND BEING SATURDAY, THE COMMUTER BUS THAT I NOW TAKE TO WORK BECAUSE I DON'T TRUST MY CAR, DOES NOT RUN ON THE WEEKENDS. I WANT TO GET A NEW CAR BUT CAN'T AFFORD HAVING MONTHLY PAYMENTS AGAIN. I DIDN'T START HAVING ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR UNTIL IT WAS PAID OFF.
MY CAR WOULD STALL AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED ONE DRIVING ABOUT 20MPH AND THEN A FEW TIMES IN TRAFFIC. THEN WOULD NOT CRANK TO START. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD THE CODES READ AND IT WAS PO725 SPEED SENSOR PO335 CAMSHAFT SENSOR. I HAD BOTH PARTS REPLACED 2 TIMES. CAR STILL HAS A HARD START AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. THERE IS A RECALL FROM NISSAN FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA RECALL ID#90579. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY SAID MY VIN IS NOT AFFECTED??
MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS STARTED TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION SLIP. IT JERKS VERY HARD WHEN ACCELERATING. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE FLOOR RUSTED THROUGH, MAKING A BIG HOLE APPROXIMATELY 9IN WIDE BY 22IN LONG. ALSO ENGINE SHAKES WHILE STARTING VEHICLE AND SITTING IN IDLE IN BOTH GEAR AND NEUTRAL.
THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THE CARPET IS THE ONLY THING SEPARATING THE PASSENGER'S FEET FROM THE GROUND. THE HOLE IS 16 INCHES IN LENGTH. I SAW SOME SORT OF PLASTIC HANGING FROM THE AREA AND WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, THE FLOORBOARD IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. WHEN I EXAMINED THE AREA WITH MY HAND, I FELT THE CARPET AND AM ABLE TO PUSH IT UP INTO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECT IN THE CAR. THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN RUSTING FOR SOME TIME NOW AND I DID NOT KNOW MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING OVER A GAPING WHOLE IN THE FLOOR AND IN DANGER FROM HER FEET FALLING THROUGH THE FLOOR OR SOMETHING POTENTIALLY PIERCING THROUGH AND INJURING HER.
I PURCHASED MY 2006 ALTIMA 2.5 SL USED NOTICED THAT IT WAS LOOSING OIL EXTREMELY FAST YET WAS NOT LEAKING FROM ANYWHERE OR LEAVING OIL MARKS AFTER BEING PARKED IMMEDIATELY AFTER A COMPLETE OIL CHANGE AND NEW FILTER IT WOULD BE BLACK AND BURNED BY THE TIME I GOT HOME AND RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING FROM FL TO SOUTH CAROLINA MY ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE IN MOTION
MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA FAILED THE YEARLY MASSACHUSETTS INSPECTION. THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED TO PASS INSPECTION. IN SPEAKING WITH THE MECHANIC, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR ALTIMAS. I WANTED TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE 100S OF OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE DEFECT WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR HELP FROM NISSAN. THANK GOODNESS FOR AN ALERT MECHANIC!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS PREMATURE DETERIORATION AND CORROSION ON THE FLOORBOARDS. THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS HAD HOLES AND EXPOSED AREAS DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR AN INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
BOTH AIR BAG SENSOR KEEPS BLINKING.
DISCOVERED ROTTED FLOOR BOARDS. NISSAN HAS RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE AND RESEARCHED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE.
MY CAR IS LOSING OIL FROM SOMEWHER NO LEAKING BUT TO DRIVE FROM COLUMBIA SC TO ATLANTA GA THE CAR WILL BE OUT OF OIL I JUST BROUGHT THE CAR ITS HAS 112000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS NO OIL LEAKING OR NOTHING SO WHERE IS THE OIL GOING
I PURCHASED A VEHICLE FROM PYRAMID MOTORS. THE SECOND WEEK I GOT IT I WAS HEADED TO WORK AND THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE CAME COMPLETELY OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I CALLED PYRAMID AND SINCE I HAD A 30 DAY WARRANTY THEY AGREED TO FIX IT THEY TOOK IT TO WEST MEMPHIS THIE TOW TRUCK GUY SAID OH IT NOTHING THE AXLE JUST SLIPPED OUT WE'LL FIX IT AND IT WILL BE READY THE NEXT MORNING. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DY AND SAID IT WAS READY. I WENT AND PICKED IT UP. A WEEK OR TWO LATER THE CRANKING SYSTEM STARTED ACTING UP AND THE SAME AXLE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LIGHT START COMING OFF AND ON. I CALLED THEM AND TOLD THEM I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS SUPPOSSED TO BE FIX WAS MESSING UP AGAIN. I INFORMED THEM THAT THIS WAS A PART THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT SO I INFORMED THEM THAT I LOOKED THE CAR UP ON THE NATIONAL RECALL LIST AND THAT SOME OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I WAS HAVING WS ON THAT LIST. I THEN INFORMED THEM THAT I WOULD NOT MAKE A PAYMENT UNTIL THEY AGREEDVTO FIX WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED WHEN I HAD MY WARRANTY. I ALSO INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD CHECKED THE MAKE MODEL OF CAR ON THE NATIONAL RECALL LIST AND THAT IT WAS ON THERE AND THAT I SAW IT AGAIN ON THE NEWS RECENTLY AND THAT IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW TO SALE RECALL CARS THE LADY NAME JENNIFER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 937 TO RETREIVE MY CEHICLE THEN GO ACROSS THE STREET TO THE OFFICE AND TALK TO A GUY NAMED BRIAN. I ASKED WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY THE REPOSSESSION BEFORE SOMEONE COULD DO ANYTHING AND THEY HUNG UP WHENEBER I CALL I CANT LEAVE A MESSAGE THEY HARDLY ANSWER THE PHONE AND THEY KEEP THE ANSWERING MACHINE FULL WHERE NO MESSAGES CAN BE LEFT.
THE ENGINE GOES OFF SUDDENLY IN THE MID OF THE TRAFFIC AT INTERSECTION, DURING TAKING CURVES. THE CAR GOES OUT OF POWER, BRAKES AND STEERING LOSE COMPLETE POWER. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS ANY ONE CAN BACK END, HIT THE CAR, OR CAR CAN GO BACK ON RAMP OR CAN FALL OFF THE ROAD. IT CAN HAPPEN ANY TIME, NO ENGINE WARNING NO DIAGNOSTIC.
WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THE CAR SPEED SUDDENLY DROP TO BELOW 10 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAPPENED TWICE: ONE WAS ON 03/14/2016, ANOTHER WAS TWO YEARS AGO. BOTH CASES HAPPENED ON LOCAL ROADS WITH SPEED LIMIT BELOW 50 MILES PER HOUR. I TURNED ON EMERGENCY LIGHT AND TRIED TO STOP THE CAR. TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND RESTARTED IT. THE CAR SPEED WAS BACK TO NORMAL.
TAKATA CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS. HAD BOTH OF THEM FAIL ON OUR ALTIMA IN PAST 2 YEARS AT THE COST OF $800. WHICH THE DEALER HAS MADE US PAY FOR. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY LEAVE YOU STRANDED AND WILL NOT START AT ALL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TOO. CALLED FOR TOWING BUT THEN CAR "MIRACULOUSLY STARTED" AFTER STRANDED FOR 1 HOUR IN DANGEROUS LOCATION. DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALER. WHO RAN TESTS AND DECLARED SENSOR FAULTY. DEALER CLAIMS THE VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL... WELL I THINK SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK THE DETAILS ON THIS. OBVIOUSLY THEY MISSED ALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THESE FAULTY SENSORS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED DURING THE SAME TIME. VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ENGINE ISSUES AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, WHILE DRIVING BELOW 30 MPH. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR HER MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. HOWEVER, SHE WAS INFORMED THE RECALL COVERED SPECIFIC VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS AND HERS WAS NOT INCLUDED/ *JB
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK IT IN FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS & IT SHOWED CAM SHAFT SENSOR ALIGNMENT. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE A DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VIN WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,786.
I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR USED. FELT VIBRATION IN ENGINE WAS TOLD IT WAS A MOTOR MOUNT. CHECKED ON LINE BECAUSE CAR SHIFTING HARD 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE TO FIND OUT IT HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT CAUSE MOTOR MOUNT WEAR AND TEAR AND REPLACEMENT AND MAY NEED TRANSMISSION REPLACED. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE
NOTICED WHEN VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, A LARGE RUST HOLE UNDERNEATH PASSENGER SIDE FLOORMAT. PLASTIC LINER TORN AND CARPET VISIBLE FROM UNDERNEATH CAR. AFFECTED AREA IS BETWEEN 14-20". PASSENGER FOOT COULD POTENTIALLY FALL THROUGH FLOOR OF THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION.
I TOOK MY CAR TO A MECHANIC BECAUSE I WAS SMELLING SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF EXHAUST IN THE CAR CABIN WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. THE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A RUST HOLE IN MY EXHAUST JUST PAST THE FRONT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, BUT MORE TROUBLING WAS TWO HUGE HOLES IN THE FLOOR BOARDS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. EACH RUST HOLE IS APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES LONG X 4 INCHES WIDE AND THE PADDING AN CARPET CAN CLEARLY BE SEEN FROM UNDERNEATH. EVEN AFTER EXHAUST IS FIXED I AM STILL AT GREAT RISK OF ROAD DEBRIS AND MOISTURE ENTERING THE CABIN FROM BENEATH THE CAR. THIS CAR IS JUST 10 YEARS OLD AND THE REST OF THE BODY IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH LITTLE TO NO RUST. I LIVE IN A SALT BELT STATE BUT OTHER CARS OF THE SAME AGE DON'T SEEM TO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. I'VE LEARNED THROUGH MEDIA AND WEB THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2002 - 2006 NISSAN ALTIMAS. I CONSIDER THESE HOLES TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN AND MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN.
VEHICLE IS VIOLENTLY SHIFTING INTO SECOND GEAR. TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO FAIL. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 91,000 MILES.
CONSUMING OR BURNING A LOT OF OIL.HAD TO ADD ABOUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 300 MILES. IT TAKES LONGER TO SHIFT AND DOES NOT HAVE POWER GOING UPHILL. HARD 1-2 SHIFT.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY RUST ISSUES WITH MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. BY FAR THE WORST IS THE RISK OF MY FEET GOING THROUGH THE FLOORMAT DUE TO RUST OF THE FLOORBOARDS. IT IS EXPERIENCED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AS WELL AS A SLIGHT RUST OF THE PASSENGERS SIDE. I FEAR THAT I AM IN HARM AND CAN NOT AFFORD THE REPAIR TO MAKE SURE I AM SAFE IN MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN USING MY CAR LIGHTLY FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTED THROUGH. CAR ONLY HAS 105,000 MILES.
THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED IN TRAFFIC AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO START. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH IT OUT OF THE ROAD. THE GAS GAUGE WAS READING THAT IT HAD OVER A QUARTER TANK OF GAS WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. IT CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NO DAMAGE OR INJURIES OCCURRED IN THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT, SO I DID NOT CONTACT POLICE.

DUE TO THE CORROSION, HOLES COULD BE SEEN THROUGH THE FLOORBOARDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED USING A PATCH KIT. WE PURCHASED AFFINITY TOURING FROM FIRESTONE IN GREENWOOD SC- 135805 P215/55R17 93T 70,000 MILE TIRES ON 7/19/14 WE HAD THEM ROTATED EVERY 6000-7000 MILES AND THE TIRES HAVE ONLY GOTTEN 25000 MILES ON THEM AND THEY HAVE NO TREAD HARDLY AT ALL ON ALL FOUR OF THEM AND THEY HAVE A VERY HARD BUMP AND ROAR GOING LESS THAN 35MPH, THE TIRES ROAD WELL FOR THE FIRST WEEK OR TWO THEN BECAME ROUGH RIDING TIRES CAUSING THE CAR TO BOUNCE REALLY HARD ABOVE 45MPH

THE DIAGNOSIS AND IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH. THE CAR BUCKED, BUT KEPT GOING. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY A FEW MILES LATER AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WITH CRUISE CONTROL NOW OFF, I ATTEMPTED TO PROCEED AS NORMAL, AND THE CAR LAGGED IN POWER. I ALMOST GOT BROAD SIDED AS THE CAR DIDN'T GO AS NORMAL. I PULLED OUT WITH A RIGHT ON RED. THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME OF THE VEHICLE UNDER THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT AND THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT HAD EXTENSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT FLOOR PAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
I WAS TOLD WHILE HAVING SERVICE AT NISSAN THAT BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARDS WERE ROTTING AWAY, AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT MY OIL PAN WAS RUSTING OUT. THIS SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL!!!!!!
DURING OIL CHANGE NOTICED THAT BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PANS WERE RUSTED THROUGH COMPLETELY. ONLY THING LEFT WAS THE INTERIOR CARPET BETWEEN THE ROAD AND A DRIVER OR PASSENGER.
VEHICLE EXHIBITS SERIOUS RUSTING OF FLOORBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT. THE VEHICLE IS IN GREAT CONDITION OTHERWISE (NO VISIBLE RUST ON BODY PANELS) AND THE REST OF THE UNDERBODY IS IN GREAT CONDITION (MINIMAL CORROSION, AS EXPECTED FOR VEHICLE OF ITS AGE). PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD IS NOTICEABLY SOFT ,AND RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH THE FLOOR PAN IN ONE SPOT (YOU CAN PUT A FINGER THROUGH IT IF CARPET IS REMOVED). THIS IS UNEXPECTED AS THE FLOOR PAN IS COATED WITH A RUBBERIZED UNDERBODY PROTECTANT IN THIS AREA. THE FLOOR PAN MUST BE REPLACED IN THIS AREA, BUT NISSAN ONLY SELLS THE ENTIRE FLOOR PAN FOR THE VEHICLE, WHICH IS QUITE COSTLY. I AM DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I HAVE NO EVIDENCE WHICH INDICATES THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY ANY DAMAGE OR NEGLECT, IT SEEMS AS IF THIS IS DUE TO A COATING FAILURE OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
