MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A DASHBOARD THAT REFLECTS UP ONTO THE WINDSHIELD AND BLOCKS MY VIEW OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND IT HAS MADE THIS CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE DASH IS STICKY AND SOFT AND IS SPREADING FARTHER ACROSS THE DASH CONSTANTLY. SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE OR THIS CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN IN THE DAY.
2007 NISSAN ALTIMA W/ LOSS OF ACCELERATION AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVING FOR 1 HR ONLY; GOING 70 MPH UPHILL ON FREEWAY TO DALLAS, TX .SPEEDOMETER REGISTERING ONLY 55-60 MPH W/ACCELERATOR PEDAL PUSHED DOWN ALL THE WAY. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TO INDICATE A SYSTEM PROBLEM; NO ABNORMAL SOUNDS MADE. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 75 DEGREES. WHEN DRIVING ON LEVEL ROADS, ACCELERATION OPERATES FINE AT THIS TIME, IGNITION & BRAKING SYSTEMS ALSO WORKING CORRECTLY AT THIS TIME. WHEN DRIVING UPHILL ON BUSY FWY. W/SEMI'S & OTHER VEHICLE'S ON THE ROAD, VERY UNSAFE WHEN HAVE NO ACCELERATION ABILITY TO CHANGE LANES. ADDENDUM TO COMPLAINT # 11090355 FILED 4-26-18: WHEN PROBLEM W/ACCELERATION OCCURRED 4-25-18, NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE SIGN(S) CAME ON TO ALERT ME TO ENGINE DIFFICULTIES. PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. SAW THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG "OFF" INDICATOR LIGHT STAYED ON WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED ALONG WITH THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT BLINKING IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL (ALL THE TIME). UPON INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THE "VARISTOR" IN THE OCS CONTROL UNIT (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM) IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS BAD. THIS VARSITOR IS THE SWITCH THAT ENGAGES THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED. THIS WAS RECALLED FOR 2007 NISSAN ALTIMAS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD MY CAR (BY VIN) WAS NOT AFFECTED. WHEN I QUESTIONED WHY I WAS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL, I WAS TOLD THAT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FOR MY REGION WOULD CALL ME. WHEN I WAS CONTACTED, I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS ALREADY CHECKED AND THAT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. WHEN I ASKED HOW MY CAR WAS CHECKED WHEN I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T AFFECTED, I WAS TOLD I COULD TAKE IT TO ANY DEALER AND THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE/REPAIR THE ISSUE. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL AND THE COST FOR REPAIR THE REP. TOLD ME MY CAR WAS "X" MONTHS AND "X" MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR A REQUIRED SAFETY DEVICE TO BE REPAIRED NOT A ALTERNATOR OR WATER PUMP. THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY SMUG AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TOO BAD. I ASKED IF IT WOULD TAKE SOMEBODY BEING INJURED IN ONE OF THEIR CARS WITH THIS ISSUE FOR THEM TO DO THE RIGHT THING BUT AGAIN WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO ANY DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE REPRESENTATIVE WOULD NOT EVEN HEAR THAT THE ISSUE IN MY CAR COULD BE RELATED TO THE RECALL ISSUE. PHOTO TAKEN WITH ME SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT.
DRIVING HOME FROM A PHYSICAL THERAPY APPOINTMENT, I ENTERED MY STREET APPS 1/4 MILE FROM MY HOUSE. I DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO GO UP A SLIGHT INCLINE. AT THIS POINT THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AS THE GAS PEDEL WAS TOTALLY DEPRESSED. THE CAR CONTINUED ACCELERATING. OUT OF FEAR FOR OTHER DRIVERS, I TRIED TO TURN TO A SIDE STREET ON THE RIGHT, AN 1/8 OF MILE FROM MY HOUSE WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND NOTHING ON THE GAS. THE CAR FISHTAILED CAUSING THE CAR TO SEVERE A TELEPHONE POLE AND A STOP SIGN ON THE END OF THAT STREET. THE CAR WAS TOTALLED. I WAS NOT CITED BY THE POLICE.
TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHING. THEY FOUND PASSENGER SIDE OCCUPANT CONTROL UNIT SENSOR FAILURE. THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION AT A COST OF $2123.88. ALSO, THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD READS 'PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF 2 ' WHEN A ADULT IS SETTING IN PASSENGER SEAT AND WON'T GO OFF. I CONTACTED NISSAN CORP. AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WASN'T COVERED BY RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AND NISSAN NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY. I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONSE IN THIS MATTER. I WASN'T NOTIFIED ABOUT ANY RECALL DURING THE TIME I HAD THIS CAR. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW.
TAKATA RECALL: WE WERE DRIVING IN A NEIGHBORHOOD AT LESS THAN 10 MPH (WE WERE LOOKING AT HOUSES). OUT OF NOWHERE MY AIRBAGS BLEW. WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND WE LOOKED AROUND TO SEE IF SOMETHING HIT US AND THERE WAS NOTHING. THERE WAS ALSO NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO MY CAR. NO ONE WAS HURT SINCE THERE WAS NO MOMENTUM, HOWEVER, NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY REFUSE TO SEND ME THE REPORT. I HAVE LEFT NUMEROUS MESSAGES WITH REP. DEHENRY KIDD (615-725-7639 /CASE NUMBER 29409439).I WAS ALSO TOLD THERE WAS NO ESCALATION PROCESS.
THE VEHICLE TAKES OVER 40 MINUTES OF DRIVING TO HAVE THE HEAT BLOWER ACTIVATE ON COLD TEMPERATURES. STARTING AND LETTING THE VEHICLE RUN IDLE FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP THIS SITUATION. HEATER WILL NOT WORK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, CAUSE THE WINDOWS TO FOG UP WHILE DRIVING AND PUTTING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN A SERIOUS SITUATION IN WHICH THEY CAN EXPERIENCE FROSTBITE FROM THE EXTREME TEMPERATURE, ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THRU THE WINDOWS AND LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE COLD CAUSES THE DRIVER TO LOSE GRIP ON THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE HEATING SYSTEM, SAYING THAT IS TYPICAL FOR NISSANS TO TAKE THAT LONG TO HEAT UP. NO OTHER EXPLANATION PROVIDED OR SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.
I OWN A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH ONLY 79K. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT OF WARRANTY BY 6 MONTHS. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT LOOKS LIKE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. ALL THESE TRANSMISSIONS WERE GOING OUT BELOW 85K. I REACH OUT TO NISSAN FOR ANY ASSISTANCE AND THEY SAY "NO WE ARE SORRY, AFTER LOOKING AT YOUR FILE YOU NEVER COMPLAINED PREVIOUSLY TO NISSAN WITH ANY TRANSMISSION ISSUE SO YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY." SERIOUSLY!!! YOU ALLOW THEM TO BUILD JUNK AND THEY KNOW IT AND THEY ONLY USE 10 YEARS OR 120K WARRANTY. I AM A VICTIM WITH 79K. NISSAN NEEDS TO STAND BY THERE PRODUCT? I ASK YOU THIS ONE QUESTION. DO YOU THINK THAT YOU OWN A CAR WITH 79K THAT A TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED? THIS IS NOT JUST ME BUT THOUSANDS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE IS JUST PAST THE 120K MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY PERIOD AND THE TRANSMISSION/CVT BEGAN HARD-SHIFTING/CLUNKING AT AROUND 40MPH. TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAILING CVT AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. CALLED NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID "YUP, THAT HAPPENS." OFFERED NO GUIDANCE, THEIR ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE CVT FOR $6,000 (PLUS SHOP FEES, TAXES, ETC.) I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL ALTIMA OWNERS AND THEY'VE HAD VERY SIMILAR EXPERIENCES WITH CVTS FAILING BETWEEN 125K AND 140K MILES, JUST PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE FAILURE IS BIG, AND NISSAN SAYS THE ONLY OPTION IS COMPLETE REPLACEMENT - NO WAY TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FRONT END WHILE ROLLING DOWN IN ANY SITUATION. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO GO INTO GEAR DUE TO A CVT FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE, STALLED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,281. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA THE RPM DROPS AND THE CAR LOSES POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GIVES A CODE FOR THE CATALYST CONVERTER BUT THE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF. ONCE THE RPM DROPS AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD START BLINKING, THE CAR JERKS AND STALL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE CAR JERKS AGAIN AND DRIVES NORMAL FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THEN IT REPEATS ITSELF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE PARKING, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA DASHBOARD IS ALL CRACKED. THE CRACKS RUN ALONG THE SEAMS AND ALSO STARTED CRACKING EVERYWHERE JUST OUT OF NO WHERE. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN PEMBROKE PINES. THEY TOOK A REPORT AND TOLD ME THAT SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME. I TRIED TO TELL HIM THE STORY AND HE SAID HE KNEW WHAT TO WRITE. A FEW DAYS LATER A LADY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO FOR ME. IT IS THE HEAT. I KEEP MY CAR UNDER MY CARPORT IN THE SHADE WHENEVER I AM AT HOME WHEN I GO TO WORK IT IS PARKED IN THE SHADE IN THE PARKING GARAGE WHEN I GO SHOPPING, I USE A SUN SHADE. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 65,000 MILES ON IT AND IT LOOKS HORRIBLE INSIDE WITH THE CRACKED DASHBOARD AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT IS HAVING THIS ISSUE. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO MAKE NISSAN TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAS A HOLE AND CRACK PRIOR TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THIS HAS ALLOWED CARBON MONOXIDE TO BE SUCKED INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE HVAC SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS STOPPED OR PARKED AND RUNNING. IT HAS ALSO INCREASED THE LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE EMITTED BY THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AS THE HOLE IS ALLOWING SOME EXHAUST TO EXIT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM PRIOR TO GOING THOUGH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. WITHOUT WARNING, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CALL HAS BEEN STALLING FOR A FEW YEARS NOW IT DOESN'T START AT ALL. A MECHANIC CAME OUT AND SAID IT'S THE FUEL PUMP.
DRIVING AFTER WORK AND NOTICED MY CAR WAS SHAKING WHEN IT WOULD CHANGE GEARS...I TOOK IT NISSAN DEALER BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A WARRANTY FOR CVS TRANSMISSION AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED. I ONLY HAD 118,000 MILES BUT WAS OVER YEAR WARRANTY AND NISSAN TOLD ME IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE IT WAS A CVT TRANSMISSION...SO UPSET I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE IS SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CVT TRANSMISSION I WOULD NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FOUR DIFFERENT DEALERS, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. TWO OF THE DEALERS WERE LOCATED IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE OTHER TWO WERE IN CANADA. DICK SMITH NISSAN OF ST ANDREWS (3670 FERNANDINA ROAD, COLUMBIA, SC 29210) WAS ONE OF THE DEALERS THAT WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
NISSAN MELTING DASHBOARD - MY DASHBOARD HAS BECOME PERMANENTLY SHINY AND STICKY TO THE TOUCH. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED FROM TENNESSEE AND DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I BROUGHT IT HOME TO FLORIDA. THE SHINE REFLECTS OFF OF THE DASHBOARD AND ONTO THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY ON SUNNY DAYS. I FEEL UNSAFE DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER ISSUE THAT NISSAN HAS CAUSED FOR MANY VEHICLES. IF I AM EVER IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS SHINY DASHBOARD I WILL TAKE ACTION AGAINST NISSAN. THERE WAS A LAWSUIT IN FL FOR 2008 ALTIMAS WITH THIS ISSUE BUT I DID NOT QUALIFY BECAUSE MINE IS 2007 AND I DID NOT HAVE THE CAR WHEN THE LAWSUIT WAS STILL ACTIVE. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE A CLAIM WITH NISSAN BUT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IF IT TAKES SOMEONE DYING FROM AN ACCIDENT FROM THESE MELTING DASHBOARDS THAT IS TOO FAR. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO FORCE A RECALL ON ALL MODELS AND YEARS THAT THIS EFFECTS!! 2007 ALTIMAS ARE AFFECTED BY THESE MELTING DASHBOARDS, NOT JUST 2008!! MANY 2007 OWNERS I KNOW HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!! I AM BEYOND FURIOUS ABOUT THIS ISSUE!!!
THE INTERIOR DASH AND CENTER CONSOLE IS MELTING AND HAS A HIGH GLARE.
CVT TRANSMISSION FALURE WITH NO SIGNS OF ANYTHING WRONG WHILE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD. HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED HOME NOW I DON'T KNOW HOW I GOING TO GET IT FIXED BC OF THE COST OF REPAIR
WAS TOLD CAR NEEDED NEW HYBRID BATTERY, HAD REPLACED, NEXT TOLD INVERTER NEEDED REPLACING, CAR STILL NOT WORKING. NISSAN ENGINEER HAS NOW LOOKED AT CAR TWICE, LAST TIME 10/26 AND STILL WAITING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. VEHICLE STOPPED STARTING ORIGINALLY AND WAS TOLD HYBRID BATTERY PACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A STRONG VIBRATION, A LOUD NOISE NEAR THE ENGINE, AND THE ENGINE MOVED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED TWO OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, STATED THAT THEY NO LONGER USED THE PROVIDER BEFORE TO THE ENGINE MOUNTS AND HAD A NEW PROVIDER WHO SUPPLIED THE PARTS WHICH PROVIDED NO SOLUTION FOR THE CONTACT BECAUSE THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON VACATION ABOUT 300 MILES FROM HOME GOING UP A HILL WHEN LOST POWER WAS ABLE TO GET TO SIDE OR ROAD ONLY TO SEE A PILE OF SMOKE AFTER LOOK FOUND TRANSMISSION FLUID EVER WARE WAS AFRAID IT WOULD CATCH FIRE WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE CAR AFTER THAT HAD CAR TOWED THE WAS TOLD TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND WAS COVER UNDER THE ADD WARAINTY BUT WE ARE 175 ON THE BACK ORDER LIST AND IT WOULD TAKE 30 TO 40 DAYS TO GET PART

THE DASHBOARD IS DISINTEGRATING. EVEN THE SIDES OF THE CONSOLE WHICH ARE NOT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT ARE CRUMBLING APART. THE DATE OF OCCURRENCE IS A GUESSTIMATE AS I ONLY JUST FOUND THIS SITE. IT HAS BEEN DETERIORATING FOR YEARS.
