I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND THE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTING. IT'S A HAZARD AND IT PRODUCES A GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD AND INTERFERES WITH VISIBILITY. I'M AFRAID THAT AN ACCIDENT IS GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE CLEARLY DUE TO THE GLARE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT. THE DASHBOARD IS ALSO STICKY TO THE TOUCH AND PIECES ARE STARTING TO COME AWAY FROM THE DASHBOARD. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IN MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IS MELTING. I HAVE NEVER APPLIED ANY CHEMICAL CLEANING SOLUTIONS TO THE DASHBOARD AND I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. THE INTENSE GLARE FROM THE MELTING DASH BOARD IS SO INTENSE THAT I HAVE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT THIS DEFECT COULD CAUSE A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. THE NISSAN CLAIMS DEPARTMENT STATES THAT THE MELTING DASHBOARD IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS TO OF NEVER SEEN A DASHBOARD MELT. AN INTERNET INFORMATION SEARCH FOR "2008 NISSAN ALTIMA DASHBOARD MELTING" REVEALS NUMEROUS OTHER 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I OWN A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE. THE DASHBOARD WHICH IS THE ORIGINAL HAS BEGUN TO MELT AND THE GLARE IS VERY BAD. I HAVE NOT ADDED ANY SOLVENTS OR CHEMICALS TO THE DASHBOARD. I FIND IT HARD TO DRIVE ON SUNNY DAYS DUE TO MY WINDSHIELD REFLECTING THE GLARE CAUSED BY THE MELTING DASHBOARD. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO BE IN NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A REMEDY TO THIS PROBLEM YET THE ONLY ONE IS TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AND I IMAGINE THIS WOULD JUST HAPPEN AGAIN DUE TO THE MATERIAL THE DASHBOARD IS MADE FROM. I WOULD HOPE NISSAN RECALLS THESE DASHBOARDS AND MAKES NEW ONES. I HAVE ALSO LOOKED INTO THIS AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
A FEW MONTHS AGO, WHILE CLEANING THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR I NOTICED THE DASHBOARD WAS STICKY IN A SMALL AREA ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THINKING IT WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE CLEANED I APPLIED AN ADHESIVE REMOVER BUT HAD NO POSITIVE RESULTS. NOW THAT WE ARE IN THE DEAD HEAT OF SUMMER, THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND HAS NOW SPREAD TO THE PASSENGER SIDE ALONG WITH CREATING AN UNBELIEVABLE GLARE FROM THE WINDSHIELD. NOW, WHEN I TOUCH IT, PIECES OF THE MATERIAL STICK TO MY FINGER. THAT WAS REAL EYE OPENER TO LOOK INTO IT AND SEE IF IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER NISSAN OWNERS. WITH ONLY A FEW MINS. OF RESEARCH I'M FINDING THAT IT'S WIDELY COMMON, ESPECIALLY HERE IN FL. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED A CRACK THAT SPANS ABOUT 15 INCHES ALONG THE BRIDGE OF THE DASHBOARD JUST ABOVE THE GAUGES. THIS ISN'T THE NISSAN QUALITY WE HEAR ABOUT! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! *TR
I HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE 2008. BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW FROM NISSAN IN KENDALL MIAMI, FL. LAST YEAR I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT WHAT HAS SEEMED LIKE A REGULAR WEAR FROM THE CAR, HAS TURNED INTO A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS A GLARE WHEN THE SUN HITS THE DASH MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE CLEARLY. I KNOW IT SOUNDS STRANGE, BUT MY DASH IS MELTING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY AS I COULD POTENTIALLY GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE ONLY TEMPORARY SOLUTION WE HAVE FOUND IS TO PURCHASE A CUSTOM MADE DASHBOARD. HOWEVER, I DON'T SEE WHY NISSAN HAS NOT HELPED. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT SINCE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY, I'M OUT OF LUCK. I'VE HAD ATTORNEYS OFFERING TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BEING THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE, BUT ALL I WANT IS TO HAVE MY DASH REPLACED AND THAT'S IT. MY WIFE HAS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SHE BOUGHT 5 YEARS AGO. I HAVE NOTICED OVER THE YEARS THE DASH SEEMS TO BE METING. I HAVE TRIED CLEANING IT WITH A DAMP RAG. THIS ONLY MAKES THE DASH GUMMY AND STICKY. EVEN AFTER I ALLOW IT TO DRY FOR A BIT IT REMAINS STICKY AND DIRTY. SHE BOUGHT IT 5 YEARS AGO FOR JUST UNDER $19,000. I TOLD HER IF WE EVER WANTED TO SELL IT WE WOULD LOSE BIG TIME. THE CAR HAS EVERY AMENITY; LEATHER, MOONROOF, HEATED SEATS, BOSE SOUND, ET CETERA. IT'S VERY DEMORALIZING ACTUALLY. ALSO, PART OF THE STEERING WHEEL IS STICKY AND FALLING APART. THE LEATHER PART ON THE STEERING WHEEL IS FINE. ONE MORE THING... I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA AND MY DASH IS SOLID WITH NO PROBLEMS. WE BOTH HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN MISSISSIPPI. IT GETS HOT AND HUMID HERE BUT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WITH MY 2006 NISSAN DASH OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. I AM 40 YEARS OLD AND HAVE OWNED PLENTY. EXAMPLE: A MONTH AGO I SOLD MY 1994 FORD TRUCK THAT HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SUN FOR 3 YEARS. DASH HAD A FEW CRACKS WHICH IS NORMAL BUT DIDN'T MELT. *2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IS USED EVERYDAY AND PROPERLY MAINTAINED SEEMS STRANGE TO ME DANIEL
I HAVE A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. AROUND 2013 I NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD STARTING MELTING. I REACHED OUT TO NISSAN, DID EVERYTHING THEY REQUIRED ME TO DO TO OBTAIN A ESTIMATE FROM A LOCAL NISSAN ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE SINCE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE IS EVEN A PAGE ON FACEBOOK WITH THIS ISSUE. WHICH I WAS BLOCKED FROM BY NISSAN FOR COMPLAINING TOO MUCH. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A FAULTY MATERIAL ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR ME AND I AM AFRAID THAT THIS COULD CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO STILL DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE I HAVE TO GET TO WORK. NOW 2015 THE DASHBOARD HAS GOTTEN SO BAD AND GLARES OFF OF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. I WENT TO HAVE MY FLUIDS CHANGED AND MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE REAR SWAY BAR ON MY CAR WAS SNAPPED. I CHECKED ONLINE AND IT LOOKS LIKE MANY OTHER NISSAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND CREATES AN AWFUL GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD - ALMOST LIKE SHINING A MIRROR AT THE SUN. IT'S BLINDING AT TIMES WHEN THE SUN HITS IT JUST RIGHT. THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE SPAN OF A YEAR. WHEN IT'S EXTREMELY HOT (NEARLY 100 OUT), THE DASHBOARD IS ALMOST LIKE A THICK GOOP THAT COMES OFF ON MY FINGERS WHEN I TOUCH IT. I HAVEN'T PUT ANY SORT OF CHEMICAL OR WAX ON IT AS A NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE HAS SUGGESTED. BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT, I HEARD A LOUD POP AND FOUND THAT I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ONCE BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE BELTS THAT WERE USED IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING LOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. *TR
THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO MELT AND IT IS ONLY GETTING WORST. IT IS STICKY ,YOU CANNOT CLEAN OR WIPE. BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE EXTREME GLARE OFF THE SHINY MELTED SURFACE. DESPITE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS, NISSAN SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ANY DASHBOARD MELT. I AM ALSO NOT SURE IF THERE IS A HEALTH RISK. *TR
DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTING CREATING A SHINY COAT THAT REFLECTS TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DIMINISHING VISIBILITY AND CREATING POTENTIAL HAZARDS, SPECIALLY DURING THE DAY AS IT OMITS A BLINDING SUN GLARE. THE CAR NO LONGER HAS NISSAN WARRANTY AND CONSIDERING THE HAZARD AND THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WITH THE ISSUE NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS TYPE OF DASHBOARDS TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF MY ALTIMA IS MELTING AND HAS BEEN MELTING. IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO SEE WHEN DRIVING, IN FACT HAS ALMOST GOTTEN ME IN MULTIPLE WRECKS. IS IT STILL SAFE ENOUGH NOT TO BE RECALLED? I HAD NOTICED MONTHS AGO THAT THE BRAKE PERFORMANCE WAS NOT UP TO PAR, BUT AS CONDITIONS WERE GENERALLY DRY, IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM. I DID HAVE NEW ROTORS AND PADS INSTALLED AT 50,000 MILES, BUT HAD NO BETTER BRAKE PERFORMANCE. AS SOON AS WE EXPERIENCED SNOWY/ICY CONDITIONS IT BECAME A PROBLEM AS THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN SLIDE WITH THE BRAKES LOCKED, EVEN THOUGH SNOW TIRES WERE INSTALLED. I THEN DETERMINED THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL, AND THE HASH MARKS FROM MANUFACTURES GRINDING ON THE NEW REAR DISCS WAS VIRTUALLY UNTOUCHED. THE REAR BRAKES WERE BLED, AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF AIR IN THE LINE WHICH POINTED TO A PROBLEM UPSTREAM. WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR RAISED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED, THE REAR WHEELS COULD STILL BE TURNED BY HAND. THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER IS WEEPING AT THE BOOSTER. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT ON" LIGHT HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING. IT NOW REMAINS LIT (PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF) WHEN THE SEAT IS UNOCCUPIED AND WHEN A FULL GROWN ADULT OR CHILD SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I CALLED NISSAN AND GAVE THEM ALL MY INFORMATION AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF CAMPAIGN 08V521000, EVEN THOUGH THE CONDITIONS FOR REPAIR FIT THE DESCRIPTION. I WANT NISSAN TO REPAIR THIS MALFUNCTION SO THAT NO ONE HIS HURT IN MY CAR. *TR

DROVE CAR TO WORK. AFTER 3 HOURS OF WORK WENT TO START CAR, WAS ABLE TO OPEN DOOR BUT COULD NOT START CAR. CHANGED BATTERIES IN SMART KEY, STILL WOULD NOT START. HAD CAR TOWED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED US THAT IT WAS THE STEERING LOCK MECHANISM, A $1400 DOLLAR REPAIR. I CALLED 1-800-NISSAN1 AND ARGUED WITH THEM FOR DAY'S. THEY FINALLY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE PARTS BUT I'M STUCK WITH $311 IN LABOR COSTS, AND WE LOST OUR CAR FOR NINE DAY'S..NISSAN REFUSED TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND PEOPLE NEED TO BE REIMBURSED. NISSAN WILL NOT GUARANTEE ME THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AS IT IS THE SAME PARTS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!! *TR

MY DASHBOARD STARTING MELTING ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. I LEFT A MESSAGE ON NISSANS FACEBOOK PAGE AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO GET IT DIAGNOSED. I DID THAT AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A MELTING DASHBOARD. I SENT ALL THE PAPERWORK BACK TO THEM AND THEY ANSWERED ME BY SAYING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED SO THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS VERY STICKY AND IS LEAVING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND MAKING IT HARD TO SEE. IT IT ALSO CRACKING IN VARIOUS PLACES. NISSAN SHOULD NOT SELL A CAR THAT CANNOT STAND THE SOUTH FLORIDA SUN! I WOULD LIKE NISSAN TO TAKE CHARGE AND REPLACE MY DASHBOARD FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING MISTAKE NOT CAUSED BY ME! *TR

THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD HAS 'MELTED,' BECOMING STICKY AND VERY SHINY. IT CREATES SIGNIFICANT REFLECTION IN THE WINDSHIELD, REDUCING VISIBILITY.

TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON WHILE PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. THIS MEANS THE AIR BAG HAS TURNED OFF. THE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF SEEMINGLY AT RANDOM. PASSENGER WAS 140 LB WOMAN 5' 7" TALL. SO, AIR BAG SHOULD BE FUNCTIONING THE ENTIRE TIME THIS PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. THE NISSAN DEALER TESTED THE AIR BAG AND SAID IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. SO, WHY IS THE LIGHT COMING ON TO TURN OFF THE AIR BAG? THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. IS THE LIGHT SENSOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY OR IS THE AIR BAG SENSOR NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY? I HAVE TALKED TO NISSAN CORPORATE ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THE FIRST THING THAT WAS SAID WAS THAT THE SEAT BELT IS THE FIRST LINE OF SAFETY IN A CRASH. THEY ALSO SAID I WOULD NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN SO THEY COULD HAVE A DIAGNOSIS THAT WAS LESS THAN 30 DAYS OLD. SO, TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST TWICE WITHIN 5 YEARS ISN'T ENOUGH FOR THEM TO REVIEW THIS SITUATION - A SAFETY SITUATION. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO STATED THAT THE MANIFOLD WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 87,000. THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT ON" LIGHT HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING. IT NOW REMAINS LIT (PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF) WHEN THE SEAT IS UNOCCUPIED AND WHEN A FULL GROWN ADULT SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH ON THE DASHBOARD PANEL. I TOOK MY CAR INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AFTER READING ABOUT CAMPAIGN 08V521000. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS WERE RAN BY THE TECHNICIAN, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE SRS SYSTEM WAS OFF, THE OCCUPANT SENSORY UNIT FAILED (DTC CODE B1018), AND A NEW SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY IS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE MALFUNCTION. NISSAN WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE MALFUNCTION AND DENIED COVERING THE REPAIR UNDER THE RECALL SINCE MY VIN DIDN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH THE CONDITIONS FOR REPAIR FIT THE DESCRIPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WANT NISSAN TO REPAIR THIS MALFUNCTION SO THAT I, AND MY PASSENGERS, CAN FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,900.

THE NISSAN ALTIMA DASHBOARD IS MELTING, WARPING, CRACKING, AND PEELING AS A RESULT OF DAMAGE FROM THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SUN. FROM READING, THE MATERIALS USED TO MANUFACTURE THE DASHBOARD WERE NOT MADE FOR EXTREME HEAT AND WEATHER CONDITIONS, THUS CAUSING GLARE AND VISIBILITY ISSUES AS WELL AS FUNES FROM MELTING PLASTICS. THIS PROBLEM WAS ALSO EVIDENT AMONGST CONSUMERS LIVING IN FLORIDA AND NISSAN HAS AGREED TO REPAIR THEIR DAMAGED VEHICLES AS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT MOSSY NISSAN, KEARNY MESA, CA. WAS INFORMED THE HEADGASKET(S) WERE LEAKING COOLANT. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ALTHOUGH MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE LEAK(S) WERE A COMMON AND PRE-EXISTING CONDITION. HE WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT NISSAN USED THE INCORRECT HEAD GASKETS FOR THIS MODEL OF 3.5 V6 (FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VQ35HR TO BE SPECIFIC). ONCE NISSAN REALIZED THEIR MISTAKE, ALL SUBSEQUENT ENGINES RECEIVED THE CORRECT HEAD GASKETS AND THE LEAKAGE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY. I AM REQUESTING THAT NISSAN FORMALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE HEAD GASKET DEFECT AND EXTEND THE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT EXPENSE. I AM UNSURE WHETHER THE NHTSA CAN HELP ME IN THIS CASE, BUT PERHAPS IF MY COMPLAINT CAN BE IN THE DATABASE, WE CAN GET MORE AFFECTED CONSUMERS TO SUBMIT SIMILAR HEAD GASKET DEFECT COMPLAINTS IN THE HOPES THAT NISSAN WILL BE FORCED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM.
NOV 15, 2012 - HARRISON, NJ - STEERING I OWN A 2008 SALVAGE NISSAN ALTIMA. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL SO THE VEHICLE TO COASTED TO A STOP. I NOTICED THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE ADDING MORE POWER STEERING FLUID, HE NOTICED THE FLUID LEAKING DIRECTLY FROM THE POWER STEERING FLUID COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING RACK FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,040 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000, I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO AUTHORIZE DEALER YET BUT SINCE IT'S A SALVAGE VEHICLE MOST LIKELY I'LL BE PAYING THE REPAIR OUT MY PACKET. *TR

MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA DASH HAS BEEN MELTING FOR THE PAST 3-4 YEARS AND IS NOW CAUSING AN INABILITY TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE ABOUT 30 MINUTES NORTH OF SAN ANTONIO ON OUR WAY HOME TO DALLAS. IN AN INSTANCE MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE MPH DECLINED. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND IT WAS. I PULLED OVER AS TO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND TURNED OFF MY CAR. IT TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START IT BACK AS IT WOULD START AND DIE. ABOUT THE 3RD TRY IT STARTED AND I REVVED THE GAS - IT SOUNDED NORMAL SO I DROVE TO AN AUTOZONE - IT WAS THE CLOSEST. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD CHECK THE COMPUTER TO SEE WHAT IT SAID AND THEY SAID IT WOULDN'T READ W/O A CODE. I TOOK THE CAR 10/1/12 TO BANKSTON NISSAN IN DALLAS (THE CAR DROVE FINE ALL THE WAY HOME) AND THEY SAID IT MAY BE TOO MUCH CVT FLUID. TOOK IT IN AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THE FLUID WAS FINE - DID NOT NEED TO BE CHANGED OR ANYTHING. THE TECH SAID WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO PULL OVER AND HAVE IT TOWED TO A NISSAN - HE THINKS MAYBE SINCE I RESTARTED IT MAY HAVE CLEARED THE CODES. I ASKED IF HE THOUGHT IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND HE SAID YES. LOOKING ONLINE I SEE THIS SAME DESCRIPTION AND ISSUE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, LOCATED AT SEMORAN BLVD IN ORLANDO, FL, THE SAME PLACE WE BOUGHT THE CAR TWO MONTHS BEFORE. THE STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP PROCEEDED TO INFORM ME THAT, AFTER SEVERAL VISITS, THAT THEY NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN AUTHORIZED SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED US THAT FOR THE NISSAN MODEL FOR THAT YEAR 2008 THE MATERIAL USED WAS NOT THE STANDARD ONE. WE ARE REACHING OUT TO NISSAN TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT ONLY AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE COVER BY THE MANUFACTURER AND PRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD TO MY FAMILY AND THE COMMUNITY IN GENERAL.
