WENT OUT TO START VEHICLE ,NO START...TOWED TO DEALER ,DENIED UNDER WARRANTY,MADE ME PAY FOR REPLACEMENT..DEALER TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER TO PERFORM INSTALL OF STEERING LOCK ASSAY. AND MISC HARDWARE. *TR
AFTER PURCHASING THIS USED 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA FROM A LOCAL DEALER IN 2012, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING PART OF A GIRL'S SOCCER TEAM TO REDDING, CA. THE CAR PERFORMED WELL ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT WHEN WE REACHED REDDING FROM OUR HOME TOWN APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 HOURS AWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED AT A SLOW SPEED. IT LIMPED TO A PARKING LOT, WHERE WE WERE UNABLE TO START IT FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS. SINCE THEN, IT HAS INTERMITTENTLY STALLED, USUALLY IN VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES, AFTER DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR AN HOUR OR TWO. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT BUT WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T ASCERTAIN THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO A TRUSTED TRANSMISSION MECHANIC, AND OUR OWN MECHANIC, WHO CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. I REPORTED IT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY PEOPLE OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY THEM NOR HAVE I SEEN ANY ATTEMPT BY THEM TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH MANY ATTEST TO IT. *TR
THERE WERE 3 INCIDENTS. FIRST, I WAS DRIVING ON THE WASHINGTON BELTWAY, IN OCTOBER 2012. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS TERRIFIED. SECOND, I WAS DRIVING ON I-95 AT AROUND 50 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR. I GAVE IT GAS BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. THIRD, I WAS ONCE AGAIN ON THE FREEWAY, TRAVELING AT SPEED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NON RESPONSIVE TO THE ACCELERATOR. I COASTED AND EVENTUALLY IT DID RESPOND. THE 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA IS EQUIPPED WITH THE CVT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ALL AROUND THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE STALLS OR LOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN DURING LONG TRIPS, ESPECIALLY IN HOT WEATHER DURING PROLONGED DRIVING (SEVERAL HOURS). IT SEEMS TO DO WELL IF KEPT AT HIGHWAY SPEED, BUT AS SOON AS THE CAR MAKES A STOP OR SLOWS DOWN, IT COMPLETELY STALLS OR ACCELERATES WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY AT INSUFFICIENT SPEED. IT IS A DANGEROUS TRAFFIC HAZARD. THE NISSAN DEALER EXPRESSED SURPRISE WHEN I CALLED HIM REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. HE SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A BATCH OF POOR GASOLINE. AFTER WE EXPERIENCE ANOTHER POWER FAILURE, WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. AFTER RUNNING TESTS, OUR PERSONAL MECHANIC SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, BUT WE HAD THE TRANSMISSION ANALYZED AND SERVICED, AND THE BATTERY CABLES CHECKED. THE CAR RECENTLY LOST POWER AGAIN ON A TRIP FROM MONTANA TO CALIFORNIA. IT LOST POWER AT STOP SIGNS OR WHEN I HAD TO DECELERATE AND THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE. AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF FOR THE EVENING, IT DID NOT START THE NEXT MORNING, AT FIRST. LATER IT STARTED AND DROVE FINE. I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHER NISSANS LOSING POWER OR STALLING. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD TELL ME WHAT STEPS YOU ARE TAKING TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE DRIVER WAS REPORTED INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD AND WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. A CONTRACTOR INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE AN AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE IKEY, AND WOULD NOT START LEAVING ME STRANDED. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS (ALL DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS) AND IS GETTING WORSE. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE KEY BATTERIES THINKING THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM IT IS NOT. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT I MIGHT BE IN THE PARKING LOT AFTER WORK LATE AT NIGHT AND NOT BE ABLE TO STAR/DRIVE MY VEHICLE. BEING A YOUNG ADULT FEMALE THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN OF MINE. *TR
I WAS LEAVING WORK WHEN I HAD NO ACCELERATION I FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STILL NOTHING. I PUT THE TRANS IN PARK WAITED 15 SECONDS AND BACK IN DRIVE AND EVERYTHING NORMAL. I RECENTLY HAD IT HAPPEN AGAIN LAST WEEK. I WAS LEAVING A GROCERY STORE AND IT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC I PULLED TO THE SIDE FOR LITTLE BIT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM MEXICO WE STOP AT THE BORDER CHECK POINT AND AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE, I HAD THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT FLICKERS WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING OR EVEN AN ADULT IS SITTING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT WAS COMMON FOR IT FLICKER BASED ON THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER. NOW, I SEE THAT 2013 - 2014 HAVE HAD A RECALL WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR

I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS AND HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THEY DID FIND LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ARE CHECKING IT ONCE PER MONTH. MY WIFE FEELS THAT THERE IS ENOUGH CONCERN THAT SHE DOES NOT DRIVE IT OFTEN. I BELIEVE THAT IT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND MAY HAVE CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS ALREADY WHICH HAVE GONE UN-NOTICED AS MECHANICAL !!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
WHEN SERVICING THE VEHICLE FOR A BAD BATTERY, I TOLD THE SERVICE REP THAT WATER WOULD LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE AND DRIP DOWN THE DOOR TRIM ONTO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRAIN LINES WITH THE SUNROOF. (THIS HAS BEEN OPENED ONLY A FEW TIMES SINCE WE OWNED THE VEHICLE) THEY SAID THEY CLEANED THE LINES. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE NOTICED WATER ON THE DRIVERS RIGHT SIDE CARPET. THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IN THE CAR FOR SERVICE. ON 28 AUG 12, I WENT OUT TO MY VEHICLE AND HEARD WATER IN THE PASSENGER DOOR. I CALLED OUR LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE CENTER FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON 30 AUG 12. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR LOOKING INTO THIS FOR US. *TR
MY 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WOULD COME ON BUT THE ENGINE WOULDN'T TURNOVER. AT FIRST I COULD GET IT TO START AFTER A FEW TRIES (I WOULD PUMP THE BRAKES, SLAM THE CAR HOOD, BANG ON THE STEERING WHEEL). THEN I NOTICED WHILE DRIVING THE VDS (TRACTION CONTROL), ABS AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THIS MEANT THAT MY VDS WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AND AS SUCH I LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES ON WET SURFACES. ON 4/22/2014 I TRIED STARTING MY CAR AND COULD NOT. I HAD IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP (ORR NISSAN IN CORINTH TEXAS) WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT IT REQUIRED A NEW BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, HARNESS AND BAND HOSES. HE TOLD ME THERE WAS A NISSAN SERVICE BULLETIN AS THIS WAS A "KNOWN ISSUE". SO MUCH SO THAT NISSAN HAD ACTUALLY DEVELOPED A MORE DEPENDABLE BRAKE SWITCH. THE SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER IS NTB10-139- WHICH WAS RELEASED ON NOVEMBER 23RD 2010. HE TOLD ME TO REPAIR IT WAS GOING TO COST OVER 500.00. THE FAULTY BRAKE SWITCH IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT CAUSES THE CAR TO THROW ERROR CODES WHICH DEACTIVATES THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN A RECALL? WHY IS A DEALERSHIP CHARGING 500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR A MALFUNCTIONING COMPONENT THAT SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR WAS RELEASED, THE MANUFACTURE ACKNOWLEDGED IT WAS FAULTY? FURTHERMORE, BASED ON MY CALCULATIONS THE DEALERSHIP IS PUTTING A 300% MARK UP ON THE PARTS REQUIRED. WHY WOULD THE NHTSA WAIT UNTIL SOMEBODY DIES IN A CRASH CAUSED BY THE VDS AND ABS FEATURES NOT WORKING BEFORE THEY FORCE A RECALL/REPAIR OF THIS KNOWN ISSUE? I AM SENDING A COPY OF THIS TO LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS ORGANIZATIONS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,100.

BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW 14 MONTHS AGO AND THE BATTERY ALREADY HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT MY EXPENSE. DEALER SERVICE INFORMED ME MAY HAVE TROUBLE IF NOT REPLACED. I WROTE NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME THE FOLLOWING: "NISSAN IS NOT IN THE POSITION TO PROVIDE VEHICLE SERVICE CONTRACT COVERAGE OR WARRANTY COVERAGE. NISSAN DEPENDS ON ITS NISSAN DEALERS TO PROVIDE ANY AND ALL WARRANTY COVERAGE CONCERNS AS THEY ARE IN THE BEST POSITION TO ASSESS THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINE WHETHER A PART IS WARRANTY OR NOT. WE RECOMMEND YOU CONTINUE TO COORDINATE WITH YOUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALER??S SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH ANY WARRANTY INQUIRIES. I OWN A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE 2.5 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. WHEN I COME TO A STOP, I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TOTHE FLOOR AND EXPERIENCE VERY LITTLE SPEED THEN IT ACCELERATES THEREAFTER. PAINT CHIPPED OFF AND FADED AFTER ONE YEAR. HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS NISSANS WITH SAME ISSUE. NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OR REPRINT ANY FADED NISSAN.
IN OCT 2011 CAR SURGED AT STOPPED SIGN CALLED DEALER HE SAID IF HAPPEN AGAIN BRING IT IN NOV 2011 CAR SURGED AGAIN TOOK IT TO DEALER HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG IN JAN 2012 CAR SURGED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE NISSAN WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGE IN THE FRONT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT OPEN UP. I TRADED THE CAR IN ON A NEW AND DIFFERENT COMPANY CAR. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS ANY MORE. THIS NISSAN ALTIMA WAS PURCHASED NEW IN SEPT 2011. SINCE THE PURCHASE, WE HAVE NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ROCK CHIPS IN THE PAINT. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN IN TOWN AND VERY RARELY ON THE HIGHWAYS. NOW THE CLEAR COAT IS PEELING ON THE ROOF WHERE THERE ARE NO CHIPS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THIS WITH NISSAN AND THEY BLAME IT ON NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THERE ARE EVEN CHIPS ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR WHERE IT'S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A ROCK TO IMPACT. *TR
MY 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S ACCELERATES SLOWLY WHEN TURNING FROM A STOP. I MADE A LEFT TURN AGAINST ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ONCOMING CAR WAS ABOUT 200 FT AWAY. I PRESSED THE ACELLERATOR HARD. THE CVT TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT DISENGAGED.THE ENGINE REV'ED BUT THE TIRES DIDN'T SPIN. THE ONCOMING CAR MUST HAVE LOCKED HIS BRAKES AS I WAS HIT IN THE REAR QUARTER PANEL. THEIR WERE NO INJURIES. I HAD ONLY HAD THIS CAR THREE MONTHS AT THE TIME. I FEEL THE CVT TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE RECALLED AS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO POST PROBLEM WITH THE CVT. *TT
AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR SEVERAL HOURS , THEN EXITING AND COMING TO A FULL STOP, THE AUTO WILL BARELY MOVE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE WHEN GIVEN GAS. THIS HAS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME WHEN CARS COME UP BEHIND AND EXPECT ME TO PULL OUT. I CAN ONLY GO AT 2-5 MPH UNTIL THE CVT TRANSMISSION FINALLY ALLOWS THE CAR TO GO AT NORMAL SPEED LEVELS. NISSAN SERVICE ADVISOR IN FLORIDA, MY DESTINATION, TOLD ME IT WAS A " COMPUTER GLITCH" WHERE THE COMPUTER WAS FOOLED INTO BELIEVING THE CAR WAS STILL IN HIGHWAY SPEED GEAR AND WHICH HAD NO FIX. *KB

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH ON POSITION COULD NOT BE SWITCHED TO THE OFF POSITION UNTIL THE SHIFT SELECTOR WAS MOVED TO THE PARK POSITION; HOWEVER, HE WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN ANOTHER GEAR OTHER THAN THE PARK POSITION. THE DEALER WAS UNAWARE OF THE FAILURE SINCE THEY DID NOT REPLY TO ANY ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO NOTIFY NHTSA. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 15,000.
MY CAR HAD BEEN RECALLED 4 TIMES FOR VARIOUS DEFECTS AS WELL AS THE NISSAN ALTIMA 2005 THAT I HAD.
COMPUTER DOES NOT DETECT FRONT SIDE PASSENGER (ADULT) WHO WEIGH LESS THAN 125 POUNDS AND HENCE AIRBAGS ARE NOT ACTIVATED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, BEFORE THE COMPUTER FINALLY DETECTS AN OCCUPANT. NISSAN CLAIMS THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE AND THE WEIGHT IS SET BY FEDERAL REGULATIONS AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WITH THE NUMBER OF ADULT US POPULATION LESS THAN 125 POUNDS BEING HIGH, THIS PRESENTS A GRAVE SAFETY RISK ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND UPON RESTART, THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THIS SPECIALLY ORDERED ALTIMA COUPE 3.5 WOULD NOT START ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BEGINNING ONLY A YEAR OR SO AFTER IT WAS DELIVERED TO ME FROM THE FACTORY. EACH TIME, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO DEPRESS, AND THE CAR MADE CLICKING SOUNDS WHEN THE START PUSH BUTTON WAS PRESSED. SEVERAL JUMP STARTS AFTER THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, ON A SUNDAY, I DECIDED TO TRY REPLACING THE BATTERY. BECAUSE NISSAN'S SERVICE CENTER WERE NOT OPEN IN MY AREA, I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY FROM A RETAIL STORE. WHEN I PHONED NISSAN'S SERVICE CENTER THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE I DID NOT BRING THE VEHICLE TO THEM (THEY WANTED THE ENTIRE CAR, NOT JUST THE BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THE NISSAN SHOP WAS CLOSED), I WAS NOT ENTITLED TO A PRORATED REFUND ON THE OLD BATTERY. APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 - 2 YEARS LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM BEGAN TO HAPPEN AGAIN. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER AN HOUR IN AN ATTEMPT TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY, I SWUNG BY A NISSAN DEALER, WHO TESTED THE NEW BATTERY AND ADVISED THAT IT WAS AT ABOUT 40%. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TURN EVERYTHING OFF, INCLUDING THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS, BECAUSE "ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES DRAIN THE BATTERY." WHAT'S THE POINT IN HAVING AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS IF I HAVE TO SHUT THEM OFF? I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH A VEHICLE BEFORE, AND BATTERIES SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THIS, ESPECIALLY IN A BRAND NEW CAR. WHEN THIS FIRST BEGAN OCCURRING, THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES ON IT. AT THIS TIME, THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 35,000 MILES ON IT. ON JUNE 26TH,WE LEFT THE HOUSTON AREA ON AN OUT OF TOWN TRIP. AT THE HALFWAY POINT WE EXITED 1-10 AT SCHULENBERG TEXAS AFTER DRIVING FOR APPROX.100 MILES. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AT A NORMAL RATE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RESPONDING AND DIDN'T HAVE SUFFICIENT POWER TO SAFELY MOVE THRU THE INTERSECTION. I FURTHER DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND COULD HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING BUT FELT LITTLE MOVEMENT FROM THE VEHICLE. IT FELT AS IF THE CAR WAS STUCK IN HIGH GEAR. WE SLOWLY GAINED SPEED AND EVENTUALLY MOVED TO A PARKING LOT WHERE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP;NOT WILLING TO MOVE BEYOND THAT PARKING SPACE. AFTER ALLOWING TO VEHICLE TO COOL FOR AN HOUR, IT ACCELERATED 1-TIME AT IT'S NORMAL RATE BUT SOON RETURNED TO IT'S EARLIER CONDITION. WE ALLOWED IT TO SIT FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS AND DECIDED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY. THE CAR MOVED OFF IN A NORMAL WAY, WE DECIDED SINCE IT WAS UNDERWAY AND BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE, WE DECIDED TO RETURN HOME VIA ALL FREEWAY,TRYING NOT TO STOP ANYWHERE. ON JUNE 28,2011 WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN ANGLETON TX. THE SERVICE DEPT. CLAIMED THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAD TOO MUCH OIL (HALF QUART) IN IT FROM THE FACTORY WHICH CAUSES THEM TO OVERHEAT WHICH CAUSES THE CONDITION WE EXPERIENCED. THE DEALER STATED THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS (CVT TRANSMISSION). THE DEALER STATED THERE IS NO RECALL. THE PROBLEM GIVES NO WARNING WHICH LEFT US PULLING SLOWLY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WITH FAST MOVING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED US OF THIS PROBLEM AND DONE A SELF IMPOSED RECALL. I AM NOT CONVINCED OF NISSAN'S CLAIM OF "TOO MUCH OIL" AS THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. DANGEROUS PERFORMANCE ON 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA. AFTER DRIVING OVER 2 HOURS AT HIGHWAY SPEED, I HAD TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE FOLLOWING THE STOP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I OWN A 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA SL AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION FOLLOWING LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS. WHEN I EXIT THE FREEWAY AND COME TO A STOP, I CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND EXPERIENCE VERY LITTLE SPEED. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND BOTH TIMES THEY STATE THAT THEY CAN'T "RECREATE THE PROBLEM". THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY WON'T DRIVE IT LONG ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH DRIVING SHORT OR MODERATE DISTANCES, ONLY LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS. Since 2011/2012 at times Altima won't start. Stopped going to dealer because of excuses & expense after warranty expired. Have been calling AAA. Have had at least 8 batteries replaced. This is a safety issue for me when I travel alone. When I turn the car off I pray evertime that the car starts. I have to pull my paperwork for exact date this started. I only have 92,000 miles on my Altima. So far so good with the latest battery, fingers crossed. Start date below is approximate, have to pull my paperwork.

I PUT AIR INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE OF MY 2010 NISSAN ALTIMA AND THE TIRE CENSOR BROKE WHILE DOING SO. I TOOK THE CAR TO DAVE'S NISSAN OF JACKSON TO BE FIXED, WHEN THEY LATER INFORMED ME THE CENSOR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS DRIVING NORMAL SPEED LIMIT 60 MPH ON THE FWY WHEN WE HEARD A NOISE LIKE A BIG POP SOUND. PURCHASED MY NEW ALTIMA 3.5 A FEW MONTHS AGO. HAD A PROBLEM THE SECOND WEEK, SEEMED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, I ACCELERATED BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THIS TIME IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AT LOW SPEEDS, THE CAR ONLY ACCELERATED PROPERLY AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE FOLLOWING DAY (MONDAY) I DROVE THE CAR TO MY NISSAN DEALER TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM, I NEVER HAD ANY WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL. THEY RAN TESTS, FOUND NOTHING, ROAD TESTED AND DETERMINED I HAD A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. BRAND NEW CAR. THIS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO MY FAMILY AND MYSELF. CVT TRANSMISSION IS WARMED UP AFTER DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES. ONCE WARM, FROM A COMPLETE STOP, I LIGHTLY ACCELERATE TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE CAR HESITATES LIKE I AM NOT EVEN PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR SO I PRESS HARDER ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE CAR FINALLY AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATES OUT OF CONTROL ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS SITUATION HAPPENS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM FOR THE PAST MONTH. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT YOU CAN BE ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING AT 60MPH AND JUST LOOSE ALL POWER AND CANT ACCELERATE. AS CAR ACCELERATES TO 20 MPH, THERE IS A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT/UNDERCARRIAGE AREA. NOISE WAS NOTICED THE FIRST WEEK OF PURCHASE. THE CAR NOW HAS 7,500 MILES ON IT. WHEN IT WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALER, THE LEAD TECH HAD ME RIDE WITH HIM TO DUPLICATE THE NOISE--IT HAPPENED.
