IN RECENT WEEKS THE CAR'S HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY WEAK ESPECIALLY WHEN USING LOW BEAMS. IN A DARK AREA I CAN BARELY SEE THE ROAD EVEN A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR. WHEN I CHECKED THE LIGHTS, BOTH ARE WORKING, JUST NOT WORKING WELL ENOUGH TO FUNCTION. IT'S BECOMING VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT.
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SL VIN: [XXX] IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO SHIFT WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE TO USE A PENCIL/ETC IN THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BYPASS AREA EVERYTIME. SEARCHING THE WEB AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY CARS ARE HOBBLED BY A THIN PIECE OF METAL ON A CHEAP $3 MICRO SWITCH IN THE SHIFTER. BENDING THE SMALL METAL TAB ON THE MICRO SWITCH APPARENTLY CAN FIX THE ISSUE SO IT MAKES CONTACT AGAIN. DEALERS WANT $700 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR THEY WERE SO BRIGHT THAT I WAS GETTING BRIGHTS FLASHED AT ME WITH PEOPLE THINKING I HAD MY HIGH BEAMS ON. NOW THEY BARLEY ARE BRIGHT. IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT UNLESS I HAVE MY HIGH BEAMS ON. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE HEAD LAMP ITSELF BUT I HAVE REPLACED THEM. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY LOW BEAMS 4 TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR THEM BURNING OUT. ONCE AT THE TIME. AFTER READING SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT, WHY ISN'T NISSAN TAKING CARE OF THIS ISSUE? I LOVE MY CAR BUT HATE THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS.
HAD ONE RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ALWAYS BEING LIT. HAD IT 'FIXED' NOW THE DRIVERS AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT (RED) AND THE PASSENGERS (YELLOW IN DASH) LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON*DT*JB *TR
THE DIM LIGHTS ARE SO DIM I CAN BARELY SEE AT NIGHT. I HAVE TO USE THE BRIGHT LIGHTS TO SEE., ESPECIALLY WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'VE SPENT A TOTAL OF $410 ON BULBS RECOMMENDED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND THEY ARE STILL AWFUL. ALSO ONE SET WAS THE HIGHEST LUMENS OF LED LIGHTS. PLEASE RE ALL THESE LIGHTS BECAUSE THIS IS SO DANGEROUS TO OWNERS AS WELL AS THE DRIVERS WE MEET ON THE ROADS AT NIGHT. I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SINCE 12/2019. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE LIGHT COMPLAINTS.
AFTER A TURN ONTO A MAIN ROAD IN THE TOWN OF HENRIETTA NY THE STABILITY WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY HAD TO BE 20 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT TO GO STRAIGHT. AFTER GETTING OF THE ROAD IN A SAFE PARKING LOT I NOTICED THE LEFT REAR WHEEL TIPPED TOWARD THE RIGHT AND TIPPED IN ABOUT 15 DEGREES AT THE TOP RIDING VERY HIGH IN THE WHEEL WELL. LOOKING UNDER THE CAR I COULD SEE SOME PIECE OF THE LEFT REAR SUSPENSION METAL HANGING DOWN. THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THANK GOODNESS I WASN'T ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 65 MPH! THE NISSAN DEALER ADVISED BECAUSE OF AGE AND MILEAGE [ABOUT 90,000] THIS WOULD NOT BE A "COVERED" REPAIR EVEN THOUGH I WAS AWARE OF A NISSAN VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN [NOT A RECALL] TO HAVE THE OWNERS OF SOME 212,000 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA'S BRING THEIR CARS IN FOR REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM [SPRING BUCKETS] REPLACMENT AT NO CHARGE. IT WAS FOUND THAT IN THE 22 STATES THAT USE ROAD SALT THESE PARTS WERE DEVELOPING CRACKS DUE TO RUST AND CRACKING. I WASH MY CAR FREQUENTLY IN THE WINTER INCLUDING UNDERCARRIAGE SO I BELIEVE THIS IS AN INHERENT DESIGN/ENGINEERING DEFECT. IN 2018 NISSAN REDESIGNED THIS PART TO MITIGATE THIS ISSUE.
DRIVER REAR LOWER ARM CONTROL BROKE AT THE CENTER BOLT. CAR SWERVED AND WHEEL WAS UNSTABLE ON THE PA TURNPIKE AT 70 MPH.
I DRIVING WITH MY SIN IN THE CAR.WE TURNED THE CORNER AND ALL OF A SUDDEN AFTER MY CAR WAS DRIVING WOBBLY! I GOT OUT CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HE LOOKED UNDER THE CAR. MY WHOLE REAR WAS RUSTED OUT AND MY TIRE WAS DETECTED FROM THE BAR UNDER THE CAR! IT WAS JUST HANGING (THE LEFT REAR TIRE) IN THE AIR. MY HUSBAND TOOK A PICTURE SENT TO A MECHANIC FRIEND. HE SAID THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IS DETECTED!! WHEN I CALL A DEALER SHIP NEAR BY HE HAD A CAR AT HIS SHOP WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE NISSAN ALTIMA TOO!! SHE WAS TRYING TO CALL NISSAN ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD HIM THEY WILL CALL HIM BACK. I'VE SEEN ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY SAME ISSUE AS I BEGIN TO RESEARCH. MY SO AND I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR COULD HAVE DIED IF WE WERE GOING FASTER. I CALL NISSAN ABOUT IT AND THEY SEEN TO UNCONCERNED. I TOLD THEM I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A ON GOING PROBLEM THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAS COMPLAINTS ABOUT AND IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE! I HAVE TOWEL MY CAR THERE AND PAY TO GET IT FIX BUT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR MY COST. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEED TO BE RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR STARTED MOVING FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY AUTO MECHANIC. THE ISSUE WAS A BROKEN REAR RIGHT CONTROL ARM. THE CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME OF THE CAR.
I RECENTLY REPLACED MY LOW BEAMS, AGAIN, AND IT DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. MY FOG LIGHTS ARE BRIGHTER THAN MY LOW BEAMS. WHEN I REPLACED MY BULBS INITIALLY IN NOVEMBER 2018 IT WASN'T UNTIL MY FOG LIGHTS WENT OUT THAT I NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS WERE DIM. I REPLACED THEM WITH THE BRIGHTEST HALOGEN BULB. IN OCTOBER THEY APPEARED TO BE OUT BUT WERE SO DIM THE ONLY WAY THEY WERE VISIBLE WAS STANDING WITHIN FEET OF THE CAR. I REPLACED THEM WITH LED BULBS AND IT DIDN'T MAKE A SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. LIKE MANY OTHERS I WILL HAVE MY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES REPLACED DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE ONCOMING VEHICLES CAN SEE ME THIS FAILING SAFETY FEATURE COULD JEOPARDIZE MY ABILITY TO SEE SOMETHING IN THE ROAD. I CURRENTLY LIMIT MY DRIVING AT NIGHT BUT EMERGENCIES HAPPEN AND NISSAN SHOULD BE REPLACING ALL OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. HEADLIGHTS ARE SO CRUCIAL TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL ON THE ROAD.
2 DAYS AGO PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY HEARD A LOUD POP, GOT OUT AND NOTICED THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WAS CANTED, AND THE BODY OF THE CAR WAS ESSENTIALLY RESTING ON THE TIRE. LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR TO FIND THE LEFT REAR LOWER LINK HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN. TOOK PICTURES OF SAME. NISSAN ADVISES A SERVICE CAMPAIGN ON 2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS FOR REAR LOWERING LINKS RUSTING OUT IN STATES THAT USE SALT IN THE WINTER, HOWEVER THEY SAY MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THIS PARTICULAR BATCH DOESN'T HAVE THE ISSUE. I WOULD SAY THE PHYSICAL AND PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE ARE CONTRARY TO THAT OPINION. I AM IN IOWA WHERE THEY USE SALT. MY FAMILY WAS JUST IN THIS CAR LAST WEEK DRIVING TO LAS VEGAS FROM IOWA. WHERE SPEED LIMITS ARE 80 MPH, CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE OUTCOME HAD THIS OCCURRED AT 80 MPH IN A MOUNTAIN PASS, LOOK AT THE PICTURES, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC AND DEADLY. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO BE DOCUMENTED? PEOPLE DO NOT ASSUME A WHEEL COULD COME OFF OF A 6 YR OLD CAR, THEY TEND TO TRUST 6 YR OLD CARS.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN A SIDE STREET AT ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR. ALL OF A SUDDEN I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL PULL TO THE RIGHT, ALMOST AS IF MY CAR WAS OUT OF ALIMENT. IT FELT AS IF I WAS DRIVING ON SNOW, MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I STARTED DRIVING IT TO MECHANIC WHEN IT STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING, IT FELT AS IF THE BACK END WAS GOING TO FALL OFF. MY MECHANIC WENT TO TAKE IT INTO THE BAY AND CAME OVER TO GET ME. IT DIDN'T MAKE INTO THE BAY AND HE WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. HE SAID THE CONTROL ARM ON THE REAR WAS SO RUSTED OUT THAT IT JUST SNAPPED CAUSING THE WHEEL TO LEAN IN TOWARDS THE INSIDE OF REAR. HE STATED I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY I WASN'T DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS SNAPPED. I WAS DRIVING IT DOWN A STRAIGHT SMOOTH ROAD AT 30 MILES AN HOUR.
WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION 2 TIMES IN ONE YEAR, THE SUSPENSION IS GIVING UP AND THE DRIVER SEAT IS ALWAYS BRAKING
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT "STRONG" ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY LIGHT THE ROAD OR ANYTHING IN FRONT OF THE CAR. VERIFIED NOT BULB ISSUE. THESE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AS THERE REALLY ISNT ANY VISIBILITY. IVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS AND FIGHTING THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS BUT JUST REALIZED I WAS ABLE TO MAKE THIS COMPLAINT SINCE NISSAN WONT ADDRESS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE LIKE A BANG OR CRACK AND MY STEERING BECAME WOBBLY AND UNWIELDY. I PULLED OVER TO SEE IF I HAD A PUNCTURED TIRE OR SOMETHING AND FOUND THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM ON MY VEHICLE HAD SNAPPED AND WAS NO LONGER CONNECTED.
ENGINE SHUTTERING, HESITATING AND SURGING AT LOW SPEEDS. HAPPENING FOR 2 DAYS AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE SINCE IT BEGAN.
MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING..CAR WON'T GO IN REVERSE OR DRIVE.WAS DRIVING THEN THE CAR STARTED SHAKING THEN STOP MOVING.CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
THE RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM SNAPPED OFF DURING VEHICLE OPERATION IN MOTION RESULTING IN TOEING IN OF TIRE. BOTH JEFF SCHMITT NISSAN OF DAYTON AND NISSAN CORPORATE WERE UNCLEAR ON HOW TO RE-MEDIATE THE ISSUE AND WHAT WOULD BE COVERED FOR THE REPAIR, EVEN THOUGH A CAMPAIGN WAS POSTED ON NISSANASSIST.COM. NISSAN ALSO MENTIONED THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND THE POSSIBLE COSTS TO BE INCURRED (UPWARDS OF $2,000 FOR ESTIMATE), I HAD TO PERSONALLY REPLACE THE CONTROL ARMS (LEFT WAS ABOUT TO SEPARATE AT ANY MOMENT), AND SWAY BAR LINKS.
THE INSIDE DRIVER'S SIDE HANDLE HAS BROKEN. THIS HAPPENED ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE MORNING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. IT WAS VERY COLD THE NIGHT BEFORE AND WAS BELOW FREEZING AT THE TIME OF THIS OCCURRING. IT IS LOOSE AND WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR. IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE WINDOW MUST BE ROLLED DOWN AND THE DOOR MUST BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER THE CAR IS ON OR OFF.
I PURCHASED MY ALTIMA FROM A DEALERSHIP AS A CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME I DROVE AT NIGHT I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DANGEROUSLY DIM. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE SO DIM, THAT (WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY) I TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND OFF, AND THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE IN VISIBILITY. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN A WEEK, WHERE THEY CHARGED ME TO INSTALL UPGRADED BULBS. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM- EVEN WITH UPGRADED, BRIGHTER BULBS THERE IN NO PROJECTION OF LIGHT ONTO THE ROADWAY. THE LIGHTS ARE VISIBLE FROM THE OUTSIDE (IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE CAR, YOU CAN SEE THAT THE LIGHTS ARE ON), BUT FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING AT THE CAR YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY APPEAR VERY DIM. THE BRIGHT SETTING ON THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE UNAFFECTED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE IN THE DARK WITHOUT THE BRIGHT SETTING BEING UTILIZED AND PRESENTS A HAZARD TO BOTH OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AND PEOPLE AND PROPERTY OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IS GOING TO TRY CHANGING OUT THE BULBS AGAIN, BUT IF THAT DOESN'T WORK THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE- WHICH MEANS THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE IN DIM OR DARK LIGHT CONDITIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 37861875. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V494000 (STEERING, SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. *LN*TR*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN VERY SLOWLY TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. JOHN AMATO NISSAN (5200 N. PORT WASHINGTON RD, GLENDALE, WI) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ON MONDAY , NOVEMBER 11TH 2019, AT AROUND 7 AM . I WAS DRIVING TO WORK NORTHBOUND ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY. I WAS TRAVELING AT 65MPH WHEN SUDDENLY I FELT A LOSS OF CONTROL OF MY FRONT END . SWERVING RIGHT AND LEFT , MY QUICK REACTION TIME, THE DRY CONDITIONS AND LUCK OF HAVING NOONE AROUND ME AT THE TIME SAVED ME FROM AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE CAR , I FOUND THAT MY RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED FROM THE FRAME (BUSHING) . I CONTACTED AAA AND WAS TOWED OVER 35 MILES BACK HOME . I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED BOTH MY LOCAL DEAL AND NISSAN CORPORATE. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING A RESPONSE BACK FROM CORPORATE. I PLAN ON TOWING THE CAR TO SAID DEALER ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15TH.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GETTING DIMMER OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS TO THE POINT I NEED TO RIDE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. MY PASSENGERS ASK ME IF I HAVE MY HEADLIGHTS ON. I WOULD EXPECT TO SEE A RECALL SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
HEAD LIGHT LOW BEAMS ARE EXTREMELY DIM. EVEN, I CANNOT SEE 2 METERS IN FRONT OF THE CAR AT NIGHTS. AND THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED WITH THE LIGHT BULBS. IT IS RELATED WITH THE HEADLIGHT PROJECTOR HOUSING (CONFIRMED FROM DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS AND INTERNET COMPLAINTS) THAT IS LOSING ITS EFFECTIVENESS BY THE TIME. ALSO, REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COSTLY. BASICALLY, BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES HAVE TO BE CHANGED. WE, AS ALTIMA OWNERS, ARE WAITING FOR THE RECALL ACTION SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PROBLEM FROM THE NISSAN COMPANY. UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS VERY COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM AMONG 2013 -2015 ALTIMAS.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE TO DIM TO BE SAFE, CHANGING THE BULB DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS UNSAFE ON A NORMAL NIGHT AND WORSE ON A DARK RAINY NIGHT. ON A REMOTE HIGHWAY THIS IS VERY BAD AND EVEN IN TOWN WITH STREET LIGHTS IT IS NOT SAFE.
I HAVE STARTED MY VEHICLE FROM PARKING LOT AND STARTED TO GET TO THE STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HEARD A POPPING SOUND UP ON INSPECTION IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE CONTROL ARM IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE FRAME. LUCKILY IT WAS VERY NEAR TO MY PLACE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING BUT SLOWLY WITH WARNING LIGHTS DROVE TO THE PARKING LOT BACK AGAIN AS I WAS RIGHT NEAR MY APARTMENT. READ MORE INCIDENTS LIKE THIS AND WANTED TO RAISE A COMPLAINT. I LEAVE IN MICHIGAN, MY ODOMETER READING IS AT 101724 MILES.
CAR WAS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY NOTICED REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE RUSTED AT THE JOINT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. AFTER LOOKING IT UP ONLINE I SEE THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING OF CORROSION ISSUES AND THAT NHTSA IS LOOKING INTO IT.
MY CAR IS A 2013 WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES. IN THE MATTER OF 5 DAYS, THE TRANSMISSION HAS DECLINED SIGNIFICANTLY. WHEN AT A STOPLIGHT, MY CAR WILL SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I HAVE TO PARK IT, TURN IT OFF, THEN CRANK IT BACK UP. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, IT WILL STALL AS IF I HAVE IT IN NEUTRAL. EVEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY RPM WILL BE FLUCTUATING, BUT MY ACCELERATION WOULDN'T CHANGE. IT WOULD STALL AT 40MPH, MAKE A JERKING MOTION, THEN PICK UP A LITTLE SPEED. TODAY IT BARELY WENT PAST 20MPH. NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE, WHICH IS CLEARLY THEIR FAULT! NOW I HAVE TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION PAID OUT OF MY OWN POCKET.

WITHIN SECONDS, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. KELLY NISSAN OF WOBURN (95 CEDAR ST, WOBURN, MA 01801, (781) 835-3500) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE AFTER DARK. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ALTIMA RELATED TO THE DETERIORATION OF THE REFLECTOR BOWL IN THE LAMP ASSEMBLY. AS A SAFETY CONCERN I AM REQUESTING NHTSA TO ORDER NISSAN TO RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLE'S FOR REPAIR.
HEADLIGHT ENCLOSURES DETERIORATE CAUSING DANGEROUSLY LOW LIGHT FROM HEADLIGHTS CREATING LIMITED SIGHT DISTANCE AT NIGHT
HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA, LOW MILEAGE. PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED THE BACK END OF CAR WAS SWERVING AS IF I WAS ON ICE. I PULLED OVER TIRE WAS NOT FLAT AND NOTHING WAS STUCK BY THE TIRE. NO ICE WAS ON THE ROAD. I PULLED DOWN A LITTLE FURTHER ON RODE AND THE RIGHT REAR END COLLAPSED. THE TIRE WAS SITTING BENT OUTWARD . WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR A METAL BAR WAS CRACKED IN HALF. I CALLED MY SON IN LAW WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH CAR REPAIR AND HE AND A MECHANIC STATED IT WAS THE RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM THAT HAD HUGE AMOUNT OF CORROSION AND HAD BROKEN IN HALF. I CALLED NISSAN DEALER IN WAUSAU WISCONSIN AND THEY STATED NO RECALLS OR SERVICE ACTION IS IN PLACE. HAD I GONE 5 MINUTES MORE DOWN THE ROAD I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES AND HOUR AND BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE ROLLED THE CAR AND BEEN IN THE DITCH. I USUALLY DRIVE MY 2 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME BUT TODAY THANK GOD THEY WERE AT HOME. I FOUND THRU YOUR WEBSITE THAT NISSAN HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS FOR SOMETIME. THIS IS A HORRIFIC FINDING . DOES IT TAKE A DEATH TO GET THEM TO PULL THIS PART. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE CORROSION AND BREAKAGE THAT I WILL TRY TO SEND WITH THIS.
ON NOVEMBER 2, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 2PM I TURNED INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A SHOPPING CENTER AND HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE FROM THE REAR. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND GOT OUT TO SEE WHAT IT WAS AND NOTICED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR RESTING ON THE TIRE WHICH WAS BENT INTO THE FENDER. I THEN LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND NOTICED A PIECE OF METAL HANGING DOWN AND CRACKED IN HALF. I CALLED MY FATHER ON FACETIME TO SHOW HIM WHAT HAPPENED AND HE ADVISED IT WAS THE REAR CONTROL ARM THAT CRACKED AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME AS IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE CAR WAS TOWED HOME AND NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WAS CONTACTED ON NOVEMBER 4TH AND MADE AWARE OF WHAT HAPPENED. I EXPRESSED THAT I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BEFORE IT RESULTS IN A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALER NEAR ME AND GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND SOMEONE WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH ME. THE DEALER CONFIRMED ON NOVEMBER 5TH IT WAS IN FACT THE REAR CONTROL ARM THAT FAILED DUE TO SALT AND COLD WEATHER. THE REPAIR WAS ESTIMATED AT ABOUT $900. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE DEALER I PLACED ANOTHER CALLED TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO FOLLOW UP ON THE CASE AND SEE HOW THIS WOULD BE RESOLVED AS THE CAR IS ONLY 6YRS OLD WITH 78K MILES ON IT AND SOMETHING LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THE REPRESENTATIVE HANDLING MY CASE ADVISE SHE WOULD INVESTIGATE MY COMPLAINT AND GET BACK TO ME ON FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8TH. I ADVISED THAT WOULD BE TOO LONG AS I HAVE TO WORK AND HAVE MISSED ONE DAY ALREADY. THE REPRESENTATIVE OFFERED RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT AND GOT BACK TO ME ON NOVEMBER 6TH ADVISING THE COMPLAINT IS NOT APART OF A RECALL AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY HOWEVER NISSAN WOULD COVER THE REPAIR COSTS 100%. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE AND REPAIRED THE CAR AND THE TWO KNOWN RECALLS.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR (2013 NISSAN ALTIMA) LAST WEEK ALL OF THE SUDDEN WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM CRACKED DOWN. I WAS IN MOTION BUT LUCKLY NOT IN A HIGHWAY. FACTORY LIGHTING IS DIM, CANNOT SEE AT NIGHT. THE PROJECTION IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR NYC NIGHT TIME. I NEED TO USE HIGH BEAMS AND THOSE ARENT EVEN THAT GOOD. IT IS NOT THE LIGHT BULB
THE HEADLAMP PROJECTOR IS FAULTY, THE LIGHT BULB WORKS FINE, THE LIGHT PROJECTION ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO SEE AT NIGHT (IN NYC). I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS ON AND THOSE AREN'T EVEN BRIGHTER THAN SOME CARS NORMAL LIGHTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS.
VERY DIM LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS
THE LOW BEAMS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE SO LOW I HAVE TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS 100% OF THE TIME WHEN IT IS DARK. I DRIVE A MINIMUM OF 50 MILES A DAY JUST TO AND FROM WORK AND DEPENDING ON THE SEASON IT IS DARK BOTH WAYS. THIS IS A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS WHO GET REALLY MAD ( AND DEFINITELY LET ME KNOW IT ). ON COMING DRIVERS FLASH THEIR LIGHTS AT ME AND CARS THAT I FOLLOW EVEN SLOW DOWN SO MUCH THAT I HAVE TO PASS THEM JUST SO THEY CAN TAILGATE ME WITH THEIR HIGH BEAMS ON. IT'S SCARY !! I LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA WITH HIGH DEER TRAFFIC AND MINIMAL STREET LIGHTS. WE HAVE TRIED REPLACING LIGHT BULBS SEVERAL TIMES TO NO AVAIL. FROM WHAT I AM READING, LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS WELL. THE FIX IS NOT CHEAP BUT WE WILL HAVE TO DISH OUT THE MONEY TO DO IT BEFORE I GET PULLED OVER AND TICKETED OR WORSE, GET IN ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH TO SOMEONE INCLUDING MYSELF.

I NOTICED IN NOVEMBER 1, 2019 THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIM. THIS ISSUE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE TO TURN ON THE BRIGHT LIGHTS TO SEE AT NIGHT. THE DIM LOW BEAM LIGHTS CREATE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ON ALL TYPES OF ROADS. MY WORK AS A REGISTERED NURSE REQUIRES 12 HOUR SHIFTS, WHICH MEANS I LEAVE HOME WHEN IT'S DARK AND LEAVE WORK WHEN IT'S DARK. WHEN I QUESTIONED A NISSAN DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD IT WAS A NISSAN DEFECT AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT IT. I WAS ALSO TOLD I COULD REPLACE WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS, WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I WAS TOLD NOT TO REPLACE WITH NISSAN PARTS BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE THE SAME ISSUE SINCE THE DEFECT IS NISSAN. I CONTACTED NISSAN IN NASHVILLE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS ONLY GIVEN AN OPTION TO ASK THE NISSAN DEALER FOR A DISCOUNT.
THE REAR RIGHT LOWER LINK HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED IN TWO IN ONLY 6.5 YEARS. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE AND WILL NEED TO BE TOWED. THE TIRE IS CROOKED AND PUSHING INTO THE FENDER.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. AS THE CAR HAS GOTTEN OLDER, THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME WORSE. THE RANGE IS NOW PROBABLY LESS THAN 100 FT. NEW BULBS AND RESTORING THE LENS HAS NOT HELPED.

DRIVERS SIDE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM RUSTED AND BROKE WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD. THE WHEEL WAS NO LONGER PERPENDICULAR TO VEHICLE AND LEANED IN AT THE TOP. VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVE ABLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE ALSO NEEDED REPLACED FOR SAME CORROSION ISSUE. PLEASE SEE PICTURES ATTACHED.
(IN NYC) MY MPG HAS DROP SIGNIFICANTLY, I'M GETTING 10-13 MAX MPG. THE OIL, OIL FILTER AND ENGINE AIR FILTER ARE LESS THAN A MONTH OLD. THE TIRES ARE FILLED TO THE CORRECT PRESSURE. NO SERVICE LIGHTS HAVE EVER CAME ON, MANY MECHANICS HAVE SEEN THE CAR AND SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I DO A MIXTURE OF HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING AND DRIVE AVERAGELY (NOT AGGRESSIVE BUT NOT SLOW EITHER). I EVEN RESET THE COMPUTER TWICE SO FAR AND GET THE SAME RESULTS.

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DAH LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE AIRBAG WAS "OFF" WHILE AN ADULT WAS OCCUPYING THE PASSENGER SEAT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THAT 2 AIRBAG MODULES WERE DEFLECTIVE, NOT WORKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. I CONTACTED NISSAN USA, FRANKLIN, TN AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT SAID THERE WAS NOT A CAMPAIGN OR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT WOULD LOOK IN TO IT FOR A POSSIBLE "GOODWILL" COVERAGE. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP THAT INSPECTED THE CAR, NISSAN OFFERED TO COVER 60% OF THE COST. THIS MAY A GOOD "GOODWILL" GESTURE, BUT I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE POSSIBLE CATASTROPHIC BODILY INJURY THAT COULD HAVE OCCURRED IN AN ACCIDENT IF I HADN'T NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. I WAS ABPUT TO MAKE A TURN WHILE IN MIDDLE OF BUSY 4 WAY INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR TURNED OFF AND ABRUBTLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. I TRIED TO TURN CAR BACK ON BUT IT WOULD NOT START. BYSTANDERS CAME AND HELPED MOVE CAR TO SAFE SIDE OF STREET. TRIED TO START CAR AFTER TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS. THEN IT WAS MOVING SLUGGISH . THEN IT DROVE AGAIN. BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN . TOOK TO NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR HAD ONLY 100,000 MILES. I HAVE 4 OTHER NISSANS THAT HAVE LASTED OVER 200,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE.
