MY TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TWICE WITHIN 6 MONTHS AND MY CAR TURNS OFF ON ITS OWN WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT.
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA, THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE ARE POOR QUALITY. IT IS DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE AT NIGHT WHEN UTILIZING THE LOW BEAMS. VISIBILITY IMPROVES IF YOU UTILIZE THE HIGH BEAMS.
LEFT REAR LOWER CONTROLL ARM FAILED AT WELD AND THE RIGHT IS READY TO FAIL AS WELL.
ADDENDUM TO MY PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED COMPLAINT ABOUT DIM LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE AT NIGHT. PLEASE DON'T THINK IT'S BECAUSE MY HEADLIGHT COVERS ARE CLOUDY WITH AGE. MY HEADLIGHT COVERS ARE CRYSTAL CLEAR AND CLEAN AND OWNERS OF NEWER MODELS OF THIS CAR REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE HIGH BEAMS ARE FINE.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. DRIVING AT NIGHT ANYWHERE OTHER THAN IN TOWN IS FRIGHTENING. RECENTLY I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE 100 MILES OF SECONDARY COUNTRY ROADS AFTER DARK. THE ONLY WAY I NEW WHERE TO STEER WAS FOLLOWING ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THAT VEHICLE TURNED OFF I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE MY HIGH BEAMS ON WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR ONCOMING DRIVERS. SO I WAS ON AND OFF WITH THEM. IT WAS A MIRACLE I DIDN'T CRASH. SOMETIMES I COULD NOT SEE BUT JUST KEPT GOING STRAIGHT AND DRIVING VERY SLOW WITH CARS BACKED UP BEHIND ME. JUST CANNOT SEE THE ROAD OR SIGNS WITH THE LOW BEAMS. RESEARCH ONLINE REVEALED LOTS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. HOW MANY ACCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE PEOPLE CANNOT SEE? OWNERS HAVE REPLACED HEADLIGHT BULBS BUT IT DOESN'T HELP. THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED WHICH COSTS OVER A THOUSAND ACCORDING TO SOME OWNERS WHO HAVE LOOKED INTO IT. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL.
LOWBEAMS HAVE DIMMED TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT UNLESS I USE HIGHBEAMS. LOWBEAMS ARE LIKE DRIVING WITH PARKING LIGHTS ONLY
LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT TOO DIM CAN NOT SEE AT NIGHT
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SV MODEL HAD THE CVT REPLACED AT 41,289 MILES IN 2017. TWO YEARS TO THE DATE, AT 75,000 MILES 2019 MY CVT TRANSMISSION IS OUT AGAIN. NISSAN VIA VERBAL TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE REPLACED CVT IS 15,000 OR 1YEAR. MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2013. AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WAS LOOSING MOTION .WHEN DRIVING AND ACCELERATING THE CAR IT WOULDNT GO UP THE THE SPEEDOMETER SPEED, IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS STALLING. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND I LET GO OF THE BREAK, THE CAR WOULDNT GO INTO "GEAR" . I HAD TO PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WILL MOVE BUT WITH AN AWFUL "JERK".THAT PROBLEM WAS CONSTANT. WHEN BACKING UP OF MY DRIVE WAY THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN, I WILL PUT IT IN "GEAR" AND THE CAR WOULDN'T BACK-UP AT ALL, I HAD TO PRESS THE GAS AFTER 5 SECONDS AND AGAIN SUDDENLY WILL JERK INTO REVERSE. THE CAR ACTUALLY STOPPED IN DIFFERENT OCCASIONS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS INSIDE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT JUST "WONT MOVE". ANOTHER CONCERN WOULD BE TO "PUBLIC SAFETY" AS OTHER DRIVERS WILL HAVE TO MANEUVER AROUND THE 'STALLED" VEHICLE. I DID CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND THEY ISSUE A CASE NUMBER ON MY COMPLAIN. MY VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP. I DID MY RESEARCH AND THE SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THAT IN 2010** NISSAN EXTENDED THEIR CVT ( CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION) EQUIPPED VEHICLES ( 2003- 2010) WITH A 10 YEAR / 120,000 MILES LIMITED WARRANTY. IM 100% SURE THAT NISSAN WILL MAKE THEIR 2011 - 2013 ALTIMAS PART OF THEIR COMMITMENT TO THEIR CLIENT BASE, AND ADD THEIR 10 YEAR / 120,000 MILES LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION TO THESE PREVIOUS MODELS.
MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS HAD DETERIORATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO AVOID FAILURE/ACCIDENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND AUTO SUPPLIERS ARE UNABLE TO KEEP THE PARTS IN STOCK DUE TO HIGH DEMAND WITH RECENT FAILURES IN SPECIFIC YEAR (2013) ALTIMAS AS WELL AS HONDAS. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL?
ROLLING SLOWLY DOWN A DRIVE THRU BACK END SCRAPED THE CONCRETE CURB AND BROKE THE CONTROL ARM WITH LITTLE IMPACT
THE HEADLIGHTS ON OUR 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAVE BECOME PROGRESSIVELY DIM DUE TO AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE FOLLOWING WAS TOLD TO ME DIRECTLY BY THE SERVICE LEAD AT STONE MOUNTAIN NISSAN IN GEORGIA: OVERTIME THE REFLECTIVE FILM IN THE HEADLIGHT UNIT HAS BURNED/MELTED AWAY. THIS CAUSES THE LIGHTS TO NOT BE REFLECTIVE AND THEREFORE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS BRIGHT. HOWEVER, NISSAN IS NOT WILLING TO COVER ANY REPLACEMENTS AS PART OF THEIR WARRANTY OR AS PART OF MY EXTENDED, COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY. REPLACEMENT UNITS COST $1,300. THE ABOVE IS CONSISTENT WITH WHAT I LEARNED FROM AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THAT MECHANIC TESTED THE HEADLIGHT BULBS AND CONFIRMED THAT THEY WERE ADEQUATELY BRIGHT, HOWEVER THE HEADLIGHT UNIT WAS NOT GENERATING THE PROPER REFLECTION AND BRIGHTNESS. AS STATED ABOVE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT TO A CRITICAL SAFETY COMPONENT. THERE IS SEEMINGLY NOTHING THAT ANY HUMAN COULD HAVE DONE TO CAUSE THE ISSUE. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH YIELDED SEVERAL WEBSITES WHERE CONSUMERS REPORTED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (SUCH AS THIS ONE: HTTP://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/NISSAN/ALTIMA/2013/HEADLIGHTS-PROBLEMS.PHP), INDICATING THAT THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH 5TH GENERATION ALTIMAS IN THE 2013-2015 MODEL YEARS, HOWEVER NISSAN HAS ITS HEAD FIRMLY PLANTED IN THE SAND.
I HIT A DEER LAST WEEK BECAUSE MY 2013 ALTIMA HAS NO ROAD ILLUMINATION FROM THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS. I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO-LANE ROAD WITH A 35 MPH SPEED LIMIT, AND I WAS GOING 30 MPH. I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW BADLY THEY HAD DIMMED UNTIL THIS EVENT HAPPENED, BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT I GET MORE ILLUMINATION FROM MY FOG LIGHTS THAN FROM MY LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THE HIGH-BEAMS STILL WORK GREAT, BUT THE INTERIOR LENS OVER THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS APPEARS TO BE NEARLY OPAQUE AND PASSES NEARLY ZERO LIGHT EVEN FROM UPGRADED, SUPER-BRIGHT HALOGEN BULBS. IF THEY HAD WORKED LIKE THEY SHOULD I WOULD HAVE SEEN THE DEER AND AVOIDED THE COLLISION. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO NISSAN, BUT I AM UNAWARE THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN ANY ACTION TO ADDRESS IT. IF A SAFETY RECALL IS NOT WARRANTED, THEN I WOULD AT LEAST EXPECT THEM TO ADVISE ALTIMA OWNERS OF THE TENDENCY OF THEIR LOW-BEAMS TO GROW DIMMER OVER TIME THAN OWNERS MIGHT EXPECT. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES OF DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODELS FOR MANY YEARS, BUT THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE IT IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE.
RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE WHILE DRIVING 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THIS CAUSED DIFFICULT HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS THANKFUL TO BE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD ONLY TRAVELING 25 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE REAR CONTROL ARM FRACTURED. THE CONTACT CALLED O'NEIL NISSAN AT 215-674-9300 (LOCATED AT 849 W STREET RD, WARMINSTER, PA 18974) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.
MY SUSPENSION BROKE OFF THE FRAME OF THE CAR WHILE MOVING ON A TURN AFTER BEING AT A COMPLETE STOP MAKING A LEFT. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DETACHED FROM THE FRAME MAKING THE CAR UNMOVABLE AND BENDING THE TIRE ALMOST AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE.
I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS CLACKING NOISE IN THE RIGHT REAR OF MY CAR. I WENT TO 2 AUTO REPAIR PLACES TO TRY TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. EVERY TIME I WENT OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD ON THE RIGHT SIDE...CLICK CLACK, CLICK CLACK. FINALLY, DIAGNOSED AS CRACK IN CONTROL ARM. IT IS AT KELLY NISSAN NOW. I DO HAVE A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY FROM WARRANTY DIRECT. HOWEVER, I AM HOPING THAT NISSAN WILL FIX AT NO COST TO ME, SINCE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS TOLD I SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS. ALSO, I REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN .I HOPE NO ONE GETS INJURED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. I WAS LUCKY.
MY SUSPENSION HAS BUSTED OFF THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. IT CAUSED THE TIRED TO BEND AND VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEABLE. IT MESSED WITH THE STEERING IN THE FRONT AS WELL. LOST TRACTION CONTROL. I HAVE MANY PICTURES I CAN SEND BY EMAIL. I ALREADY SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT WITH # 11267024. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECT AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUE OR RECALL FOR THIS OR THAT NHTSA WAS NOT INVESTIGATING ANYTHING INTO THIS MATTER. I AM SEEING YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER. NISSAN REFUSED TO FIX THE CAR OR HELP ME IN ANY WAY. THEY WERE EXTREMELY RUDE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AHOLD OF. I HAVE SPENT OVER A WEEK TRYING TO REACH SOMEONE. NISSAN WILL NOT HELP IN ANY WAY AND DO NOT CARE IF ANYONE GETS HURT OR THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. IT IS NOW MY PROBLEM TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I HAVE CHILDREN. NISSAN COULD CARE LESS. THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED BETWEEN $800-1200 AND NISSAN CANNOT DO A "GOODWILL REPAIR" BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THE VEHICLE IS TO OLD (ITS 6 YEARS OLD) AND HAS HIGH MILEAGE. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH OVER 50K MILEAGE IN 2014. ALL MY MILEAGE IS HIGHWAY. I AVG 17K A YEAR IN MILEAGE.... AVERAGE IS 12K. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THEY REFUSE! I GET TOLD ITS ALL ABOUT VIN #'S AND PART #S. IT IS A FAILURE ACROSS THE BOARD ON ALL 2013 MODELS. A RECALL NEEDS MADE ASAP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT DUSK, THE HEADLAMPS FAILED TO PROJECT ADEQUATELY ENOUGH FOR SAFE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO UFTRING NISSAN (7400 N ALLEN RD, PEORIA, IL 61614, (309) 690-6200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE HEADLAMP BULBS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. UPON A SECOND VISIT TO UFTRING NISSAN, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,600. *PM*JB
AT 68830 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON THIS CAR. TERRIBLE.
LOWER CONTROL ARMS ROTTED THROUGH AND BROKE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKE THE CAR WAS HARD TO CONTROL AND WEAVING BACK AND FORTH ON THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED AT A LOW SPEED OTHERWISE COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
NISSAN RECALLED REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS FOR 2013 ALTIMAS JUST LAST MONTH. I AM LOOKING TO GET MINE REPAIRED AT THE DEALER, MOSSY KEARNY MESA, WHO TOLD ME LAST YEAR IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE ONLY BEEN IN CALIFORNIA FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. MY CAR WAS BOUGHT AND DRIVEN IN VIRGINIA WHERE THEY USE ROAD SALT (A STIPULATION OF THE RECALL). THE DEALER IS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL. I CONTACTED A REP AT THE NUMBER THE DEALER GAVE ME, 1-800-647-7261, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL EITHER. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE FROM NISSAN AMERICA CORP., THE REP SAID THEY WOULD HAVE THEIR SUPERVISOR CALL ME BACK IN A FEW DAYS, BUT THAT THEIR SUPER WOULD ONLY TELL ME THE SAME THING. I AM GETTING NOWHERE WITH NISSAN MUCH LIKE IN THE PAST. I HAVE HAD TO FIGHT FOR REPAIRS FOR ALMOST EVERY RECALLED OR REVISED PART ON MY CAR INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS, TRANSMISSION, DOOR HANDLE, AND NOW THIS. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE CONTACTED ME ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU.
THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. IT'S HARD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. UNSAFE
LUCKILY DRIVING ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR WHEN HEARD A THUD FROM THE REAR. LOST SOME CONTROL WITH STEERING, LUCKILY BLOCKS FROM HOME AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. WHEN LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE SAW A BROKEN METAL PIECE HANGING AND REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS NOT STRAIGHT AND I COULD NOT SEE THE TOP OF THE TIRE IN THE WHEEL WELL. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED, REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE. I NORMALLY DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY HOME FROM WORK, LUCKILY, I CHOSE NOT TO THIS DAY. IT SOUNDS LIKE A KNOWN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IN STATES WHERE SALT IS USED ON WINTER ROADS. WE LIVE IN WISCONSIN.
TRAVELING ABOUT 30 MPH, THOUGHT REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. INSPECTION REVEALED THE RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION AND SPRING HAD BROKEN AND COLLAPSED. RESEARCH REVEALED THIS IS AN ACUTE AND COMMON PROBLEM. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AN A GREATER SPEED, COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. I WAS ON A TOWN ROAD.
RANDOMLY MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. BUT NO AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. ALSO I BELIVEVE MY YEARS TRANSMISSION HAS A RECALL ON IT. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN IT DOWNSHIFTS WHILE I AM ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT TERRIFIES ME. I WOULD APPRECIATE FEELING SAFE IN MY INVESTMENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SEVERE CORROSION. WALSER NISSAN BURNSVILLE (14750 BUCK HILL RD, BURNSVILLE, MN 55306, (612) 395-4999) WAS CONTACTED VIA PHONE AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,800. *LN CONSUMER STATED LUCKILY, I WAS GOING AT A LOW SPEED WHEN ONE OF THEM BROKE OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF THE ROAD. MY MECHANIC SAID ONE WAS BROKEN AND THE OTHER ONE WAS RUSTED SO IT PROBABLY WAS GOING TO BREAK SOON. I UNDERSTAND THAT NISSAN IS GOING TO HAVE A PROGRAM TO REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR THIS SINCE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR NISSANS IN THE 2013-2018 YEAR. I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF MY BILL AND PHOTOS OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. I MANAGED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH A NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE AND HE TOOK MY INFORMATION BUT SAID DUE TO THE FACT WHERE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AT IT WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS NOT A MANUFACTURE ISSUE BUT A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSED THE CONTROL ARMS TO BE EXPOSED TO CORROSION MATERIALS IF THE CAR WAS DRIVEN IN A STATE WHICH USED THESE CHEMICALS. I LIVE IN MINNESOTA WHICH I BELIEVE IS ONE OF THOSE STATES. HE POLITELY DENIED MY CLAIM AND SAID THEY WOULD KEEP IT ON FILE BUT ALMOST GUARANTEED ME NO REIMBURSEMENT WOULD BE COMING MY WAY. I DECIDED TO CONTACT YOUR AGENCY TO SEE IF YOU COULD PROVIDE ME WITH AN AVENUE TO GET SOME REIMBURSEMENT OR A LEAST BRING TO LIGHT A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES, SO NO ONE ELSE IS INJURED. *JB
THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NEVER STRONG. THEY ARE NOW WEAKER THAN STREET LIGHTS OR VIRTUALLY ANY OTHER CAR AROUND ME. CARS BEHIND ME CASE A SHADOW OF MY CAR WHERE MY BEAMS SHOULD BE. IT'S LIKE DRIVING WITH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. MY INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 ALTIMA. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS HAS BEEN OR WILL BE INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA. AT A MINIMUM, NISSAN SHOULD REPAIR THE AFFECTED CARS.
CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUR OF PARK TO REVERSE WHILE IN STATIONARY MODE.

SOMETIMES I COULD BE AT A STOPLIGHT AND IT WON'T MOVE FOR FIVE SECONDS OR MORE. WHEN ENTERING THE FREEWAY, IT COULD TAKE UP TO TEN SECONDS TO MAINTAIN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THESE ARE THE SAME THINGS THAT HAPPENED WHEN THE FIRST TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE VEHICLE BEFORE I HAD IT REPLACED
I HAD RECIEVED A NOTICE FOR RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR IN SEAT WAS NOT REGISTERED TO SOMEONE SITTING IN SEAT. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR AND IT STILL DOES NOT REGISTER AN OCCUPANT. SO NOW IT STAYS ON AND SO DOES THE DRIVER WARNING SENSOR LIGHT. WHEN IT REGISTER A BODY BOTH LIGHTS GO OFF. PUZZLED. PLEASE ADVISE. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE PROBLEM AT HAND.
THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG SENSOR HAS FAILED. THE AIR BAG IS ALWAYS OFF WITH A RED WARNING ON THE CONSOLE, REGARDLESS IF THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE PASSENGER OR NOT. OTHER ALTIMA'S OF THAT MODEL YEAR HAVE HAD RECALLS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. YOU CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MUCH NISSAN WANTS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM PASSENGERS DO NOT WANT TO RIDE IN MY CAR BECAUSE THEY FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY. I CANNOT SEE MORE THAN A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR UNLESS I HAVE HIGH BEAMS ON. THIS IS THE CASE ON COUNTRY ROADS AT NIGHT. IN THE CITY, I MUST COMPLETELY RELY ON STREET LIGHTS AS THEY OVERWHELM THE HEADLIGHTS OF MY CAR.

LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE BECOMING DIMMER AND DIMMER. THEY ARE LESS BRIGHT, AND MORE YELLOW. I HAVE CLEANED THE LENS COVERS. THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM LESS BRIGHT THAN THE DRIVING LIGHTS. RECENT PASSENGERS HAVE SAID "AL, TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS."
THE CAR HAS HAD NO PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION - NOTE THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRANSMISSION STARTED TO STUTTER AND THE RPM'S WOULD MOMENTARILY REV VERY HIGH. AFTER DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES OF THIS, THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE - EVENTUALLY GETTING DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MPH. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR NEVER REGAINED SPEED. AFTER GETTING THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH BRIGHTS ON JUST TO SEE AT NIGHT. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS THREE TIMES WITH LED, HID AND BACK TO HALOGEN AND THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THEY CONTINUE TO GET DIMMER AND DIMMER.

A POLICE OFFICER OBSERVED THAT THE LUG NUTS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED ENOUGH TO PROPERLY SECURE THE TIRE. THE INSIDE OF THE RIM WAS INSPECTED BY THE POLICE OFFICER WHEN HE OBSERVED THE VEHICLE. THE BUMPER, QUARTER PANEL, SUB FRAME, ALLOY WHEEL, FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY, AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DRIVESHAFT ASSEMBLY WERE ALL SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS TOWED TO A REFERRED BODY SHOP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,663.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE HOOD LATCHES OF THESE VEHICLES THAT HAS NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED BUT I HAD AN INCIDENT OCCUR WHERE MY HOOD DID FLY OPEN ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WHICH I HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO PAY FOR. I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE A NEW HOOD LATCH AND SECURE THE HOOD BUT THE DAMAGE IS STILL PRESENT, THE HOOD DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY, THE FENDERS WERE PUSHED BACK AND DAMAGED....I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I COULD HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED AND POSSIBLY REPAIRED WITH NO COST TO ME DUE TO THIS RECALL? I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH ON A SECONDARY HIGHWAY WITH A GOOD DEAL OF TRAFFIC WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. IT WAS TERRIFYING. I JUST PURCHASED MY CAR USED 9/24/2019 WITH 73,000 MILES. SINCE DAY ONE THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE NOT WORKED PROPERLY WHEN YOU TURN THEM ON AT NIGHT YOU CAN'T SEE THE ROAD IT LOOKS LIKE PARKING LIGHTS ARE ON I'VE RAN OFF THE EDGE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE THE ROAD OR DIVIDER LINES. THE ONLY WAY TO SEE THE ROAD SAFELY IS TO TURN THE FOG LIGHTS ON TOO AND EVEN WITH THEM ON IT'S STILL DULL I HAVE TO TURN MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ON TO SEE CLEARLY AND THOSE SEEM LIKE THEY SHOULD BE THE LOW BEAMS NOT THE HIGH BEAMS. WE'VE HAD RAIN FOR 2 DAYS AND THAT MAKES IT EVEN MORE HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT I'M SCARED I'LL HIT ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LIGHT. IT WOULD JUST DO LOW-RPM REVS THEN EVENTUALLY CRAWL THEN REV SUPER HIGH AND ACCELERATE SUPER FAST. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD TAKE ABOUT 10 SECONDS TO ENGAGE AT EVERY LIGHT AND ONCE IT DID IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD. STALLED 3 TIMES. 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH EXACTLY 85,500 MILES. CALLED NISSAN AND THEY SAID THE KNOW OF NO RECALLS OR ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY BUT TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON WITH CODE P0776, AND PENDING CODES OF P 0776 P0965 P2813.
I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA S AND LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE REALLY BAD AT NIGHT AND I CAN NOT SEE WITH THEM ON. WHILE GETTING A NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION, I WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH MY REAR CONTROL ARMS WERE EITHER CRACKED OR WOULD BREAK SOON. THE MANAGER INFORMED ME OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF A CONTROL ARM FAILING WHILE DRIVING, SO WITHOUT HESITATION I HAD BOTH OF THEM REPAIRED IN ORDER TO PASS INSPECTION. THE MANAGER AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAD RECOMMENDED TO GET BOTH SIDES REPAIRED BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN DOZENS OF CARS OF THE SAME EXACT YEAR AND MODEL (2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SV SEDAN) WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FROM MY RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT REGIONS THAT USE SALT TO CLEAR ROADS IN THE WINTER HAVE OR WILL ENCOUNTER A FAILING CONTROL ARM AND THAT A REFUND FOR THE REPAIRS IS POSSIBLE. I LIVE IN A TOWN NEAR UTICA, NY WHERE WE AVERAGE OVER 100 INCHES OF SNOW A YEAR, SO I WAS ALARMED WHEN I WAS REJECTED FOR A REIMBURSEMENT FROM NISSAN WHEN CONTACTING THEM. IF NISSAN HAS A SERVICE CAMPAIGN, THEY ARE NOT DOING IT FAST ENOUGH WHICH ENDANGERS THE LIVES OF PEOPLE EVERY MILE THEY DRIVE IN A 2013 ALTIMA. I URGE YOU TO PLEASE MAKE THIS PROBLEM ONE OF YOUR PRIORITIES BEFORE MORE CARS CONTINUE TO FAIL. MY CONTROL ARMS JUST RECENTLY FAILED, BUT IT COULD BE BECAUSE OUR REGION USES SALT ON THE ROADWAYS FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS A YEAR. OTHER REGIONS THAT USE LESS SALT WILL MOST LIKELY TAKE LONGER TO FAIL; SO EVERY YEAR, THERE SHOULD BE MORE AND MORE CARS TO REPORT THIS ISSUE. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO CATCH THE PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE INSPECTION, SO PLEASE HELP TO REPORT THIS KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE TO PREVENT ANY CASUALTIES.
