I NOTICED MY LIGHTS BEGAN TO DEM SHORTLY AFTER MY PURCHASE. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS AND EVEN UPGRADED THE BULB TO AN LED TYPE AND ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT OR EARLY MORNINGS WITHOUT USING MY HIGH BEAMS (WHICH ISN'T SAFE FOR OTHER DRIVERS). I AM SHOCKED THIS ISSUE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED AS IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS IT IS DAYLIGHT WHICH ISN'T AN OPTION FOR ME DUE TO MY JOB. I LIVE IN STILLWATER OKLAHOMA AND DRIVE TO OKLAHOMA CITY TO WORK
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON THE 2013 ALTIMA ARE EXTREMELY DIM. MY CAR HAS 95,000 MILES. I BASICALLY AM UNABLE TO TELL IF MY LIGHTS ARE ON AT NIGHT AND CAN ONLY SEE A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT NISSAN; HOWEVER, NO RESPONSE WAS RECEIVED. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND THERE WILL BE A SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO THIS ISSUE UNLESS NISSAN IS FORCED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. PLEASE HELP!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF ATHENS (LOCATED AT 4735 ATLANTA HWY, BLDG. C, ATHENS, GA 30606, (706) 410-1914) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
TAKATA RECALL (FOR ONE PROBLEM) AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON - TOOK IN AND THEY SAID THE SWITCH UNDER PASSENGER SEAT HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED - FIXED BY NISSAN DEALERSHIP WITHIN TWO DAYS, AIRBAG LIGHT BACK ON - TOOK IN AND THEY WERE GETTING CODES FOR DRIVER SEAT AIRBAG - NISSAN RECOMMENDED REPLACING AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC UNIT. WITHIN ANOTHER TWO DAYS OF THIS REPAIR, THE AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC UNIT GIVING SAME CODE. NOW, RECOMMENDING REPLACING DRIVER SEAT AIRBAG. DEALERSHIP INDICATES THAT WHILE THESE ERROR CODES ARE FIRING, THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WOULD NOT GO OFF IN AN ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V315000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING WHEN IT IS TOO HOT OUTSIDE. I'M UNABLE TO DRIVE CORRECTLY DUE TO THE GLARE THAT IT CREATES.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE AS THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. I FEEL UNSAFE AND HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WHERE THERE ARE NOT A LOT OF STREETS LIGHTS AND I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE WITHOUT MY HIGH BEAMS ON. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DIE BEFORE A RECALL HAPPENS ON THIS VEHICLE?!
REAR CONTROL ARM RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. REAR UNDERCARRIAGE ALL RUSTED THROUGH
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK NOISE AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WASN'T DRIVING RIGHT SO I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE BACK PASSENGER TIRE WAS CAVED INWARD. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND THE CONTROL ARM THAT ATTACHED THE TIRE TO CAR WAS COMPLETELY SEVERED DUE TO CORROSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS STARTED TO DIM AND ILLUMINATED APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN FEET. THE CONTACT SWITCHED TO THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCOTT EVANS NISSAN (725 BANKSHEAD HWY, CARROLLTON, GA 30117) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MATERIALS INSIDE THE HEAD LAMP ASSEMBLY HAD DEGRADED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
CVT IS JERKING AND THE RECALL DOESN'T EXTEND TO CARS THAT THE PROBLEM MOSTLY EFFECTS.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED A WEIRD NOISE WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP TO INVESTIGATE IT TO FIND OUT THE REAR ARMS THAT HOLDS THE SPRINGS IN HAD CRACKED AT THE WELD MORE SO ON THE READ DRIVER SIDE AND THE ARMS IN THE REST OF THE CAR STARTED TO CRACK ALSO RIGHT AT THE WELDS. CAR IS ONLY 60K MILES ON IT
MY CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK- THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS IN ONLINE FORUMS I HAVE SIFTED THRU WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE SAME YEAR AS MINE
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. DOES NOT REGISTER THAT DRIVER OR PASSENGER ARE SEATING IN THE SEATS TO ENGAGE THE AIRBAGS. NO MATTER HOW HEAVY THE OCCUPANTS ARE THE AIR BAG LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS DISABLED WITH AN ADULT SITTING IN THE SEAT. 2 AIRBAG SENSORS AND THE CONTROL UNIT NEED TO BE REPLACED TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE WITH A PASSENGER. AIRBAG SENSORS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY DESPITE BEING A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN CHARGED $930 FOR PARTS AND LABORS FOR THE REPAIR ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED. MY CAR WAS PURCHASED USED, BUT HAS NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS IS THE SAME SENSOR THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN A PRIOR RECALL.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES ARE VERY DIM. DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY IN RAIN, FOG, ETC. REPLACED THE LIGHT BULBS BUT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. PROBLEM PRESENT WHEN EITHER STATIONARY OR MOVING.
CORRODED LOWER LINK SNAPPED WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAUSE THE CAR TO VEER HEAVILY RIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS PLACING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL CRACKING NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DROPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GRAFF NISSAN OF OKEMOS (1728 W GRAND RIVER AVE, OKEMOS, MI 48864, (517) 679-8900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA19002. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 36460515. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,473.
CAR WAS IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. A SMALL BUMP WAS HIT IN THE ROAD AND THE CAR STARTED TO FISHTAIL SLIGHTLY. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INSPECT THE CAR AND DETERMINED I WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME (LESS THAN 1 MILE AWAY) GOING AT A SLOW ~10 MPH SPEED. THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE CAR UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE FURTHER IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE WHEEL WAS CLOSE TO THE TOP OF THE WHEEL WELL (~2-3 INCHES) AND WAS AT A SLIGHT INWARD ANGLE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR WAS TOWED AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED UNDER THE DEALER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS NOT REPLACED UNDER THE DEALER WARRANTY AS IT HAD NOT SHOWN IMMEDIATE SIGNS OF FAILURE. HAD THE WARRANTY NOT COVERED IT, THE PARTS AND LABOR WOULD HAVE TOTALED AROUND $800. THE VEHICLE HAD 66,125 MILES WHEN IT ENTERED THE DEALER.

DORSCHEL NISSAN (3817 W. HENRIETTA RD, ROCHESTER, NY) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM IS GETTING DIMMER. REPLACED BULBS AND CHECKED GROUNDING STILL DIM. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. HIGH BEAMS WORK WELL.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE LINK COMPLETE NISSAN PART# 551B1-3TAO ON MY 2013 ALTIMA SNAPPED AT THE WELD WHERE IT BOLTS TO THE SUBFRAME, THIS HAPPENED JULY OF 2019. TODAY I HAD MY ALTIMA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR LINK COMPLETE HAS SEVERE CRACKS IN THE WELD IN THE SAME EXACT PLACE AS THE DRIVER SIDE THAT SNAPPED IN JULY 2019. I HAD THE DRIVER SIDE REPAIRED/ COMPLETE NEW PART WAS NEEDED. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE PART AS IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS A LOSS OF CONTROL TO THE REAR SUSPENSION IS THE RESULT OF IT SHOULD SNAP LIKEVDRIVER SIDE DID IN JULY. LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 25 MPH WHEN THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OCCURRED TO THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LINK COMPLETE. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING OTHER THAN SAYING SORRY BUT THERE IS NO RECALL AND IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. I BELIEVE NISSAN USED PARTS AT MANUFACTURE THAT WERE MADE OF SUBSTANDARD STEEL OR CHEAP RECYCLED STEEL, THESE PARTS SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER THAN 6 YEARS, THEY ARE VITAL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS THAT WHEN FAIL AT HIGHER SPEEDS CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF STEERING AND RIDE SAFETY. 2 PARTS FAILING WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. THANKFULLY IT WILL ONLY COST ME ADDITIONAL MONEY AT THIS POINT. NISSAN ALTIMA FROM 2013 NEED TO BE RECALLED FOR THIS SERIOUS REAR SUSPENSION PART FAILURE FOR SAFETY OF OWNERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

I BEGAN NOTICING A LOUD CRACKING NOISE WHICH SEEMED TO ORIGINATE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR WHENEVER THE REAR WHEELS WOULD GO OVER SHARP BUMPS. I HAD THE DEALER TAKE A LOOK AND I HAVE A CRACKED CONTROL ARM.

THE CONTACT CALLED BOUCHER NISSAN OF WAUKESHA (1451 E MORELAND BLVD, WAUKESHA, WI 53186, (262) 542-5500) AND WAS INFORMED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TR*JB
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 5-10 MPH, AND WENT THROUGH A POTHOLE. HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND FELT THE CAR DIP. HE LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND SAW THAT IT WAS DETACHED FROM THE FRAME AND THE REAR WHEEL WAS AT AN ANGLE. HE TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED AND REPAIRED FOR APPROXIMATELY $1300. THE REAR CONTROL ARM HAD BROKEN COMPLETELY. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND FOUND THERE WERE NONE, BUT I ALSO FOUND THERE WERE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE FOR THE REAR CONTROL ARM BREAKING SUDDENLY, WHICH SIGNIFIES TO ME THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CONTROL ARMS IN THIS MODEL CAR.
THE 2ND TIME IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS THAT THE CVT VALVE WENT OUT MAKING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERK FORWARD AND BACKWARDS EVEN WITH THE BRAKES ON AND THEN SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. WETHIS IS A HAZARDOUS SITUATION AS MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED YESTERDAY AFTER SUDDENLY STOPPING AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED ON A BUSY BRIDGE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 ALTIMAS BUT UNFORTUNATELY I'VE JUST BECOME AWARE OF THIS. PEOPLE COULD DIE.
WHEN I MAKE A STOP AND THEN I LEAVE THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AND THE CAR IS VERY SLOW BUT THE RPM GOES UP VERY HIGH
MY CAR WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY FINE IN THE MORNING. CAR STARTED FINE LATER IN THE AFTERNOON. IT STARTED JERKING AND NOT ACCELERATING SMOOTHLY AS I PULLED OUT TO THE STREET. THEN IT STALLED AT THE STREET. RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL UNTIL I PUT IT IN GEAR. AFTER ONLY A FEW FEET IT STALLED AGAIN. IT NOW STALLS IN ANY GEAR BESIDES PARK AND NEUTRAL. HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND HAVE IT TOWED. ANOTHER BAD CVT TRANSMISSION. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED. SELLING THESE CARS WITH MAJOR MECHANICAL FAILURE AND POOR WARRANTY. HAD TO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS BECAUSE OF FAILURES. SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS HAPPENING TO TO MANY PEOPLE. LAST NISSAN I WILL OWN.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ABOUT 5MPH AND HEARD A LOUD THUD, AS IF I RAN SOMETHING OVER, LOOKED UNDER MY CAR AND THE REAR WHEEL CONTROL ARM HAD COME DETACHED AND WAS BROKEN. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER WHO SAID BOTH CONTROL ARMS NEED REPLACED BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE IS CRACKED. I STARTED RESEARCHING AS I FOUND THIS ODD TO HAPPEN IN A 2013 VEHICLE & FOUND MORE THAN 347,000 CARS MAY HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND ALL VEHICLES NEED RECALLED AS THIS COULD LEAD TO THE DRIVER LOSING COMPLETE CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE AND POSSIBLE DEATH. I AM GRATEFUL MY 18 YR OLD SON WHO IS A NEW DRIVER WAS NOT ON THE TURNPIKE WHEN THESE DECIDED TO GIVE OUT AND THAT I WAS JUST BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. NOT ONLY IS IT A SAFETY HAZARD BUT WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT COULD ALSO LEAD TO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF ADDITIONAL DAMAGE IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY IN MOTION WITH THE VEHICLE. AS I AM IN NEED OF A VEHICLE I HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE TO BE FIXED WHICH I WAS JUST QUOTED A WHOPPING $2,100. SHAME ON NISSAN!! SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE IF THE CONTROL ARMS OF THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA DO NOT GET RECALLED AND THESE VEHICLES ARE LEFT ON THE ROAD WITHOUT THE REPAIRS NEEDED.

I BOUGHT A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA IN 2017. 4 MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE WITH ONLY 65,000 MILES THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED AND THE NEXT DAY WHILE WORKING THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A PARKING LOT. THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. NOW 65,000 MILES LATER THE NEW CVT TRANSMISSION DIED WHILE I HAD A YOUTH CLIENT IN MY CAR FOR WORK. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR A TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AT THE DROP OF A HAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THIS IS EFFECTING MY WORK AND IS NOT A RELIABLE CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. ALSO THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS AN ISSUE AS WELL. THIS ALSO NEEDS RECALLED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. WHAT IF THE CAR WOULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD AND SOMEONE WOULD HIT ME WHILE I AM WITH MY CHILDREN OR A CLIENT? THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO PLEASE. BECAUSE NISSAN IS REFUSING TO HELP ME AT ALL FOR THIS SECOND TRANSMISSION THAT IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD!!!!
I WAS DRIVING IN A ROUNDABOUT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD SNAP COMING FROM REAR, DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. I STARTED LOSING CONTROL OF THE THE VEHICLE BUT WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A SIDE STREET WHERE I PULLED OVER. I NOTICED THE REAR WHEEL WAS TILTED A BIT SIDEWAYS, AND HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC NEAR BY. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A BROKEN CONTROL ARM.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON A FEW MONTHS AGO. I BROUGHT IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A LOOSE WIRE. PAID $100 ON MY DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON A FEW WEEKS AGO. NOW WHEN I TAKE IT IN THEY TELL ME THEY HAVE TO REPLACE ONE OR TWO SENSORS EACH COSTING $1000 THAT IS NOT COVERED UP THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THERE SEEMS TO BE DOZENS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME CAR HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR BUT I ALSO DON'T WANT TO PUT $2000 INTO A 2013 CAR.
ALTIMA'S LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM. A VISUAL INSPECTION REVEALED THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL COCKED AT AN ODD ANGLE. A CAR TRANSPORTER WAS CALLED AND THE DRIVER OBSERVED A BROKEN SUSPENSION COMPONENT. THE CAR WAS TRAILERED TO MY NISSAN DEALER, FOR REPAIR. THEY NOTED THE REPAIR AS: 'CHECK REAR SUSP C/S REAR CONTROL ARM IS ROTTED OUT . . . 120 REPLACE RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARM 982 CPA 3.0' ON WEDNESDAY JULY 3, 2019 I EXPERIENCED THE SAME TERRIFYING SENSATION. AGAIN, I MANAGED TO MANEUVER, PARK AND HAVE THE CAR TRANSPORTED TO MIKE BARNEY NISSAN FOR REPAIR. THIS TIME IT WAS SUSPENSION FAILURE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.

TAKATA RECALL: WHILE DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 45 MPH, THE RIGHT REAR SUBFRAME FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY DUE TO APPARENT CORROSION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT THE LOCATION OF THE BUSHING TO THE FRAME. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE REAR WHEEL OFFSET AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPROMISED. THIS IS A HISTORIC PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND THEY HAVE NOT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEW MODEL IN 2013. IT IS UNSAFE AND UNFAIR THAT OWNERS PAY FOR NISSAN'S REFUSAL TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 4 DOOR: I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET ABOUT 40 MPH AND HEARD THIS LOUD CRUNCHING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED FISH TAILING . I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THE CONTROL ARM IN THE BACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD COMPLETELY SNAPPED. I HAD TO ORDER A NEW ONE AND ALSO ANOTHER FOR THE OTHER SIDE BECAUSE I HEARD IF YOU REPLACE ONE YOU SHOULD REPLACE THE OTHER.
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY CAR THE HEADLIGHTS WORKED FINE, NOW THEY ARE SO DIM YOU CANNOT SEE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT OR IN THE RAIN. I SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE LIGHT, AND TOLD ME THAT THE CHROME AROUND THE LIGHT BULB IS NOT REFLECTING THE LIGHT OF THE BULB AND THAT IS WHY ITS SO DIM. HE ALSO ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT HE SEES IN NISSAN ALTIMAS 2012 AND ABOVE. THE COST FOR REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS IS ABOUT 1200 DOLLARS TO FIX.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A MAINTAINED TWO LANE COUNTY ROAD AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DARTED ACROSS THE ROAD AND BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO STEER. ONCE STOPPED, YOU COULD SEE THE THE VEHICLES LEFT REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS TILTED IN AND RENDERED INOPERABLE. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE CONTROL ARM BOTH WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM AND FROM THE REPAIR STATION IT WAS TOWED TO. THE CONTROL ARM WAS RUSTED AND BROKE AWAY FROM THE FRAME/PROPER CONNECTION. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT BOTH REAR CONTROL ARMS NEED TO BE REPLACED, THE BROKEN ONE AND THE OPPOSITE SIDE. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE IS IN THE SAME CONDITION. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 86,100 MILES ON IT.
THE LOWER, RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM HAS CRACKED, BUT NOT FAILED FORTUNATELY. IT IS IN THE NISSAN SHOP RIGHT NOW. THE DIAGNOSIS IS THAT THAT THE LEFT SIDE IS PROBABLY GOING TO FAIL IN TIME. I LOOKED A THE MECHANIC'S OBSERVATIONS AND I AGREED WITH THE DIAGNOSIS, SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TELL THE SERVICE GUY TO MAKE THE REPAIR ON BOTH SIDES. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT, NOW, BUT THE NOISE STARTED ABOUT 10,000 MILES AGO. I NOTICED A THUMPING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS, AND ESPECIALLY SPEED BUMPS.THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL, BUT MOST ALTIMA OWNERS DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND ARE LIKELY GOING TO FIND OUT AFTER A FAILURE. HOPEFULLY, THE WILL FAILURE WILL NOT BE CATASTROPHIC. I QUESTION THE METALLURGY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THE WELDING METHODS USE ON THE ORIGINAL CONTROL ARMS. HOPEFULLY NISSAN REALIZES THAT THEY HAVE A POTENTIALLY HUGE LIABILITY ISSUE HERE.

DON WILLIAMS NISSAN (310 WESTERN BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, NC) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
THE 7 INCH CENTRAL AUDIO-VISUAL AND NAVIGATION UNIT PERIODICALLY CHANGES RADIO STATIONS, CRASHES THE NAVIGATION DISPLAY, OR CRASHES ENTIRELY GOING BLANK, AND MAY OR MAY NOT ASK FOR SD CARD UPON REBOOT. ON ONE OCCASION THE ACCELERATOR ALSO STUCK REQUIRING THE CAR TO TAKEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF. CANNOT BE SURE IF THE TWO EVENTS WERE RELATED BUT THEY HAPPENED SIMULTANEOUSLY. IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS THE MISBEHAVIOR OF THE CENTRAL DISPLAY UNIT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE. NISSAN DEALER AND NATIONAL SUPPORT ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM OR BEING WILLING TO FIX IT. THERE IS NO ESCALATION PROCEDURE TO FACTORY ENGINEERING AND MAINTENANCE SUPPORT. THEY WILL NOT TAKE THE ELEMENTARY STEP TO REFLASH THE FIRMWARE OR BEING WILLING TO CHANGE OUT THE UNIT. MULTIPLE EXAMPLES OF THIS PROBLEM ARE REPORTED ONLINE IN NISSAN'S OWNER PORTAL FOR THIS MODEL YEAR AND THE NEXT. DESPITE BEING ORIGINALLY TOLD THAT NISSAN IS TRYING TO TRACK CARS WITH THIS KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS AND LEAVING A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM UNRESOLVED.
