GEAR SHIFT IS UNABLE TO MOVE. IT WILL NOT MOVE WHEN BREAKS ARE PRESSED. ALSO, ENGINE DIES WHEN CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. THE ENGINE WILL ALSO DIE WHILE DRIVING, AND WHEN I GO TO TURN IT BACK ON, IT ONLY DIES WHEN I TRY TO SWITCH THE GEARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWERVE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS DETACHED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED AT 90,000, LOWER CONTROL ARM RUSTED AND BROKE, ALMOST CAUSING CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER TO WRECK. TOTAL CONTROL ARM FAILURE.*JB
WE HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES INVOLVING OUR NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 INVOLVING THE TAKATA AIRBAGS. THE RECALLS HAVE NOT CONSISTED OF ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT. THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS OF THESE RECALLS (I BELIEVE 2 OR 3) OUR AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD AS WELL AS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE HAS INTERMITTENTLY COME ON AND OFF. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR NISSAN TO A LOCAL NISSAN APPROVED DEALER FOR ALL OF OUR REVIEWS/REPAIRS. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AGO WE AGAIN TOOK OUR VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE LIGHT WAS ON DUE TO OUR CAR BATTERY BEING LOW. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. MY HUSBAND USED A READER AND THE CAR'S BATTERY WAS PERFECTLY FINE. JUST RECENTLY ON TUESDAY WE AGAIN TOOK OUR CAR IN BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS NOT TURNED OFF. THEY HAVE INDICATED THAT OUR SIDE AIRBAG IS NOT WORKING, THEREFORE ALL OF THE AIRBAGS ARE OFF AND NOT PROPERLY WORKING. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR FOR THIS IS $1500 (NOT INCLUDING TAX). THIS ISSUE WITH AIRBAGS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. NISSAN HAS NOT MADE ANY EFFORTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OTHER THAN A BAND-AID RECALL. THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. FINALLY, I RECEIVED A CLASS ACTION NOTIFICATION THAT THIS VEHICLE IS LISTED AS A ELIGIBLE MEMBER OF THIS CLASS ACTION. WWW.AUTOAIRBAGSETTLEMENT.COM. WE HAVE ALSO CALLED NISSAN DIRECTLY AND WERE ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER - 34595466, HOWEVER NO ONE HAS PROVIDED US WITH ANY INFORMATION. THE WORK ON THIS VEHICLE IS PRESENTLY BEING DONE AND WILL BE READY ON FRIDAY, HOWEVER WE DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AND WILL BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BECAME JAMMED IN THE WHEEL WELL AND ALMOST DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TREIBER NISSAN (320 N COMRIE AVE, JOHNSTOWN, NY 12095, (888) 439-3352) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW REAR SUSPENSION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,020. AUDIO AVAILABLE*CW
DRIVING MY ALTIMA ON TOLLWAY FELT A SHIMMY WENT HALF WAY INTO NEXT LANE WHEN I GAINED CONTROLL STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT STRAIGHT WHEN I INVESTIGATED FOUND RT REAR CONTROL ARM REAR ATACHMENT POINT BROKEN IN HALF LOOKS LIKE RUSTED IN HALF TOOK PICTURES AND HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER
TWO HOURS FROM HOME CAR SHUT OFF ON HIGHWAY, AFTER IT START SHAKING DURING SHIFTS. AFTER TOW TO SERVICE STATION, THEN TO DEALERSHIP, AND HOME IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE BAD TRANSMISSION WITH 60,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL.
REAR DRIVERS SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH AND BROKE OFF. RIGHT SIDE IS EQUALLY RUSTED BUT HAS NOT BROKEN OFF YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WOULD JOLT FORWARD, TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING, AND THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN AT WILL. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME
DRIVING VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROAD WHEN PASSENGER SIDE LOWER REAR CONTROL ARM SNAPPED OFF FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL. VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT THEY SAID IT BROKE BECAUSE OF RUST AND CORROSION AND THAT MY WARRANTY WONT COVER IT BECAUSE IT BROKE FROM RUST AND CORROSION. I BOUGHT THE CAR A YEAR AGO AND I BOUGHT IT AS A CERTIFIED PRE OWED VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AND TURNING ONTO ANOTHER STREET WHEN IT HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE TO FIND THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COCHRAN NISSAN OF SOUTH HILLS (3200 W LIBERTY AVE, PITTSBURGH, PA 15216) WHERE THEY REPLACED BOTH REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS OFF AND WARNING LIGHT IS ON IN THE DASH
UNABLE TO RELEASE VEHICLE FROM P POSITION BY PRESSING THE BRAKE. THE BYPASS BUTTON HAS TO BE PRESSED IN ORDER TO RELEASE.
THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS DO NOT PROJECT LIGHT OUT AT NIGHT. EVEN AFTER REPLACING WITH THE SAME TYPE BULB OR EVEN HIGH DEFINITION BULBS, NONE OF THEM PROJECT LIGHT. I CANNOT SEE WHILE DRIVING WITH THE LOW BEAMS. I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAM LIGHTS ON AT NIGHT. *TR
VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION CAUSES ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AT IDLE (WHILE WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT). ALSO CAUSES VIOLENT SHAKING WHEN ACCELERATING. NISSAN HAS A "RECALL" TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION MODULE STATING THAT IT IT IS NOT DONE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE WILL HAPPEN. HOWEVER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED AND IT SEEMS TO APPEAR THIS NOTICE CAME OUT ONLY IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. MEANING NISSAN KNOWS THE TRANSMISSION IS BEING DAMAGED. BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD MENIT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION ($4400). CALLED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA WHERE THEY DECIDED TO DENY ANY CLAIM TO REPLACE THE TRANMISSION... EVEN THOUGH AS I PREVIOUSLY STATED THEY KNEW THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. HAVE TRIED TO REACH BACK OUT TO NISSAN AND HAD TO LEAVE A MESSAGE ASKING MY "REP" TO CALL ME BACK THE NEXT DAY.... WHICH SHE NEVER DID OF COURSE.
AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A OIL CHANGE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST 2013 AND NEWER NISSAN ALTIMAS. THERE ARE MILLIONS OF 2013 AND NEWER NISSAN ALTIMAS ON THE ROAD AND A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST THESE VEHICLES IS THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS. THESE PARTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION ON FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES AND THESE PARTS SHOULD NOT FAIL ON FIVE YEAR OR YOUNGER ROAD VEHICLES. THE FAILURE OF THESE PARTS ON SURFACE STREETS CAN BE POTENTIALLY DEADLY AND ON HIGHWAYS MORE LIKELY TO CAUSE HORRIFIC CASUALTIES DUE TO THE VEHICLES BEING I FILED A COMPLAINT ALREADY BUT YOU ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM A YEAR AGO AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DOING 65 ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THE LOWER CONTROL ARM LOOKS LIKE IT JUST CRUMBLED INTO PIECES. THAT'S NOT NORMAL OR SAFE. I REALLY HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. UNCONTROLLABLE DURING A FAILURE. I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF NHTSA AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE SOURCES TO BE PROACTIVE AND PREVENT ANY FUTURE ACCIDENTS THAT THE NISSAN ALTIMA MIGHT CREATE
I WAS DRIVING UNDER 25 MPH (IN A STRAIGHT LINE) ON A SMOOTH RODE WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE OF MY CAR FELT LIKE IT LOCKED UP FOR A SECOND. MY STEERING WHEEL IMMEDIATELY LOST ALIGNMENT AND THE WHEEL NEEDED TO BE KEPT AT 2:30 TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. I MADE IT LESS THAN A MILE AFTER THE INITIAL INCIDENT (I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST WHEEL OUT OF ALIGNMENT) BUT WITH EACH RODE BUMP I HIT, MY BACK END GOT LOOSER AND LOOSER. I FINALLY PULLED OFF AND PACKED MY CAR. WHEN I WENT TO MOVE IT, IN REVERSE, THE WAS A LARGE NOISE AND I COULD TELL SOMETHING WAS FRACTURED IN THE SUSPENSION. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS CRASHED INTO THE WHEEL WHEEL AND THE CONTROL ARM WAS BROKEN. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME THING NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE18013 IS IN REGARD TO, AND I LIVE IN CLEVELAND, OH, WITH MORE THAN 100,000 MILES OF MY CAR'S 130,000 MILES PUT ON IN NORTHERN OHIO.
WHILE DRIVING YESTERDAY THE VEHICAL BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND SHOOK VIGOROUSLY AT 35 MPH . STOPPED TO INSPECT AND FOUND THE RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKEN.
PULLING OUT AND THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE AND FELL ON THE GROUND!
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I HEARD A "POP" AND THE STEERING BECAME UNSTABLE ON MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH THE CAR VEERING LEFT AND RIGHT. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND WAS ABLE TO GUIDE THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT. I THOUGHT I HAD A BLOW OUT BUT THE TIRES WERE FINE. IF IT HAD BEEN RUSH HOUR I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WHERE THEY INDICATED I HAD A REAR CONTROL ARM FAILURE. THE LEFT REAR TIRE WAS CLEARLY LEANING OUTWARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS WAY OUT OF ALIGNMENT. NISSAN REPLACED (SEE ATTACHED RECEIPT) THE LINK COMPL REAR, LINK COMPLETE, R; TWO ROD CONNECTING AND ADSORBER KIT. THEY ALSO ALIGNED THE CAR. I HAD THEM REPAIR BOTH THE BROKEN LEFT SUSPENSION ITEMS AS WELL AS THE RIGHT AS I DIDN'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I DO BELIEVE THIS FAILURE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND REALLY COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WAS TRAVELLING IN A STRAIGHT LINE.
HEADLIGHTS ARE DIM WHICH CAUSES LOW NIGHTTIME VISIBILITY. THE LENS COVERS ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH LIGHT TO SEE CLEARLY AT NIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD.

CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK WHILE IN STATIONARY MODE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED FROM THE PARK POSITION INTO DRIVE, IT FAILED TO MOVE. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS MOVED INTO REVERSE, THE VHEICLE FAILED TO DRIVE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ST. CHARLES NISSAN (LOCATED AT 5625 VETERANS MEMORIAL PKWY, ST PETERS, MO 63376) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 34414336. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
SHIFT GEAR GET STUCK AT PARKING MODE WHILE MOVING CAR. THIS IS SERIOUS PROBLEM AT IT MAY OCCUR WHILE MOVING. WE APPROACH NISSAN BUT NO HELP FROM THEM. HOW COME NISSAN ALLOW TO NOT HAVING RECALL ON THIS AS MANY OWNERS ARE FEELING THIS PROBLEM. WE WOULD APPRECIATE IF NHTSA COMES IN HELP. WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM GOING SINCE ONE MONTH AND VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WE ARE LUCKY THAT SO FAR NO MAJOR INCIDENT. I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM MAY CAUSE A LOT OF PROBLEM IF NOT FIX PROPER BY NISSAN. MY CONTROL ARM SNAPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, DUE TO CORROSION. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET INTO A PARKING LOT.
SEAT BELT LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THERE SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT AND HAVE THE SEAT BELT ON....AND THE GEARSHIFT LOCKS FOR NO REASON. FOR THE SEATBELT THIS WILL BE MY SECOND TIME TACKING IT IN FOR THE SAME REASON.
HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM MAKING IT VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND HAVE READ THAT NUMEROUS OTHER ALTIMA 2013 OWNERS ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE.
AIR BAG HAS HAD RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF BUT NOW HAS AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON. ALSOHDADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM WHEN DRIVING. NEW BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED.
HALOGEN HEADLAMPS EXTREMELY DIM. USING VEHICLE LOW BEAMS, I CANNOT DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN ASPHALT AND RAISED PAVEMENT LINES DURING LIGHT OR MODERATE RAIN. WHEN REPLACED HALOGEN LIGHTS WITH BRIGHTER LED HEADLAMPS, THE HEADLAMPS STILL APPEAR DIM AND I CAN SAFELY LOOK DIRECTLY THROUGH THE PROJECTOR AT THE NEW HEADLIGHT (I CANNOT SAFELY LOOK AT SAID LED BULB WHEN NOT INSTALLED IN THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. RPMS AND REFLECTIVE SIGNS ARE NOT VISIBLE UNTIL WITHIN 20 FEE (OR NOT AT ALL IN MANY CASES), CAUSING ME TO MISS TURNS. IN THE IMAGE PROVIDED, THE BRAND NEW 1,600 LUMEN LED HEADLAMPS (BOTTOM) ARE PLACED IN REFERENCE TO A 750 LUMEN LED FLASHLIGHT
HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM ON LOW BEAM ACTUALLY THEY'RE USELESS!! HAD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR TO SEE IF THEY WERE EVEN ON. HIGH BEAMS ARE OKAY BUT I CAN'T DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS ON BC OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM EVEN AFTER ORDERING NEW ONES TO REPLACE THE FACTORY HEADLIGHTS. I ACTUALLY STOPPED AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO MAKE SURE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE EVEN ON. DEFINITELY NOT A CAR TO BE DRIVEN AFTER DARK!
WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 ALTIMA THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM SNAPPED - LUCKY CAR WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH WHERE NO ACCIDENT OR BODY INJURY OCCURRED. THE CAR JUST CAME OFF THE THRUWAY 10 MINS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. ALL WORK WAS DONE AT THE DEALER SINCE PURCHASE AND WE ARE THE ONLY OWNER.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM IT'S HARD TO SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT.
REAR PASSENGER CONTROL ARM BROKE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH. BACK END STARTED TO FISHTAIL. LUCKILY DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT.WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A DEALERSHIP AND GET IT REPAIRED FOR $800. NOT SURE IF I FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR ANYMORE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR JUST DIED ALL OF A SUDDEN. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND GOOD THING AND NOT ON HIGHWAY. I STARTED IT AGAIN, ONLY TO DIE AGAIN AFTER PUTTING INTO DRIVE. THERE WAS JERKY, SHUDDERED AND HESITATION. IT DIED THREE TIMES BEFORE I COULD PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS OK FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND NOW IT HAPPENS DAILY. WHILE ACCELERATING OR COMING TO A STOP, IT SHAKES, JERKS, SHUDDERS, VIBRATES. VERY SPOOKY. I AM AFRAID OF IT DYING ON ME ON THE HIGHWAY. NOT SAFE AT ALL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS THE CVT CONTROL VALVE BODY WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS VERY COMMON WITH 2013 & 2014 ALTIMAS. REPAIR COST WILL BE $1,700. I ONLY HAVE 49,000 MILES ON IT. BUT BECAUSE I OWNED IT FOR MORE THAN FIVE YEARS, I AM TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED ON WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT FAIR. NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THIS CONSISTENT PROBLEM AND THEY SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THIS. ALL NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE TO MAKE NISSAN ACCOUNTABLE. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS DUE TO THIS SAME PROBLEM. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL WHINING AND GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BEARING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER HUGH WHITE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (250 COLUMBUS RD SUITE A, ATHENS, OH 45701 (740) 594-8555) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED FOR THE 2ND TIME AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY 80% OF THE REPAIR COST. A CASE WAS ALSO OPENED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
WHILE GOING ABOUT 40 MPH DRIVING ON A CITY STREET MY CAR RANDOMLY STARTED TO FISH TAIL AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE REAR TIRES. I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO NISSAN AND FOUND THAT THE REAR CONTROL ARMS HAD BROKEN. THE TECH SAID HE "HAD NEVER SEEN A BREAK LIKE THIS." I HAD NOT HIT ANY POTHOLES OR CURBS I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT JUST BROKE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 60K MILES ON IT AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION. LUCKILY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN A POSITION THAT I COULD NOT PULL OVER AS I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF MY TAIL END AND HAD TO DRIVE 45 MINS (USUALLY A 15 MIN RIDE) TO MY CLOSEST DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CONTROL ARMS ON THE 2013 ALITMA'S WITH LOW MILES AND BEGINNING TO THINK THIS IS FAULTY PART.
AT 55,000 MILES THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN IT STALLED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT EVERY TIME IT WAS PUT INTO DRIVE, IT STALLED AGAIN. ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT.
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA'S CVT IS FAULTY. THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHUTTER AT ANY SPEED AND RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF. ADDITIONALLY, AT A MOMENTS NOTICE IT WILL REV UP IN RPMS AND NOT GO ANYWHERE. IT STALLS IN TRAFFIC WHICH HAS CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. IT HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS AND SIMPLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY.
THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE DIMMED AND CAN BARELY SEE AT NIGHT. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS KNOWN BY NISSAN AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS ISSUES REPORTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THIS MUST BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I OWN 2 OF THESE VEHICLES AND THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH POOR HEADLIGHT PROJECTION! THE HEADLIGHT REFLECTOR DETERIORATION IS SO BAD THAT I CAN SEE THE SHADOW OF MY CAR IN MY HEADLIGHT BEAMS FROM THE CAR'S HEADLIGHTS BEHIND ME. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BEAR THE COST FOR REPLACEMENT OF OEM PARTS AND/OR AFTERMARKET PARTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE BEING THE #2 COMPLAINT ON NHTSA WEBSITE BEHIND AIRBAGS AND AMOUNTS TO 15% OF ALL COMPLAINTS FILED AGAINST THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ISSUE RECALL IMMEDIATELY FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR/REPLACEMENT RESOLUTION BY CERTIFIED DEALER.
WAS APPROACHING HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN CAR PULLED HARD INTO OTHER LANE. IT FELT ALMOST LIKE SLIPPING ON ICE. TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM LIT UP SO I FIGURED IT WAS SOMETHING FAULTY ELECTRICALLY. LUCKILY DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING, SO I KEPT DRIVING. A FEW SECONDS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN THIS TIME WORSE AND WITH SHAKING. I PULLED OVER ON THE HIGHWAY TO HAVE A LOOK AND NOTICED ONE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS SHEERED COMPLETELY IN TWO PIECES AND THE OTHER WAS ALMOST SHEERED OFF AS WELL. LUCKILY NO KIDS WERE IN THE CAR AND NO ONE GOT INJURED BUT COULD HAVE BEEN PRETTY UGLY. THE CAR IS IN GREAT CONDITION, NO RUST OR ANY REASON FOR THIS PART TO FAIL SO CATASTROPHICALLY.
ON JANUARY 14TH 2019 WHILE DRIVING 30MPH, THE REAR CONTROL ARM ON THE ALTIMA FAILED AND MADE THE CAR UN-DRIVE-ABLE, THE REAR END OF THE CAR FELL TO THE GROUND. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO INJURY AS A RESULT OF THIS FAILURE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE CONTROL ARM FAILED DUE TO CORROSION, AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO HERB CHAMBERS NISSAN IN WESTBOROUGH MA. IT WAS IN THEIR SERVICE AREA FROM 1/15/2019 - 1/7/2019. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, COMPONENTS SUCH AS CONTROL ARMS THAT AFFECT A PERSON'S ABILITY TO CONTROL A CAR SHOULD NOT BE CORRODING LET ALONE FAILING IN 6 YEARS. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM AND DEAL WITH THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PART/METAL SUPPLIER. THE ISSUE IS SAME AS THE ONE IN THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION: REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM FAILURE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE18013

FRONT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DIMMING GRADUALLY AS THE CAR AGES. LOOKING INSIDE OF THE REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY IN THE PROJECTION HEADLIGHT UNIT, THE REFLECTOR IS DISCOLORED AND BURNT UP INSTEAD OF BRIGHT AND REFLECTIVE. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT AND I FEAR DRIVING AT NIGHT DUE TO POSSIBLE HAZARDS TO MYSELF OR OTHERS.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET, VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER AND JERK EVENTUALLY DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE TRAVELING WITH A TODDLER AND WIFE IN THE CAR. WAS LUCKY WE WERE NOT HIT BY CARS BEHIND US AND WE MANAGED TO RESTART THE CAR AND STEER AWAY. NISSAN DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE FOR CLAIMING WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS 48.450 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOV 2012. DEALERSHIP RETURNED THE CAR ASKING ME TO COME BACK WHEN PROBLEM BECOMES MORE FREQUENT. I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A CAR WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND RISKING MYSELF TO AN ACCIDENT.
THE LIGHTS HAVE DIMMED TO THE POINT I CANNOT SEE ON THE ROAD ANYMORE. THE CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS WITH MULTIPLE BRANDS AND TYPES OF BULBS WITH THE SAME RESULT EVERY TIME.
