TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE HOOD BECAME UNLATCHED AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD BEFORE IT DETACHED COMPLETELY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HOOD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,628.
I WAS REMOVING MY SUNSHIELD FROM THE WINDSHIELD WHICH WAS IN BETWEEN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND WINDSHIELD. WHEN I REMOVED THE SUNSHIELD, THE WINDSHIELD LITERALLY CRUMBLED WHERE THE REVIEW MIRROR WAS ATTACHED AND THE REARVIEW MIRROR FELL OFF OF THE WINDSHIELD LEAVING A HOLE THE APPROXIMATE SIZE OF A .50 PIECE. THE REPAIR SERVICE THAT I USED STATED THAT THERE HAVE MANY MANY, MANY ISSUES WITH THE NISSAN WINDSHIELDS AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT WHAT I EXPERIENCED SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ON LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATED WHEN THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
I'VE HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT THAT IS IN THE CENTER OF DASH COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES EVEN WITH AN ADULT SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP (8/9/14), THEY SAID THIS IS NEW ISSUE AND THAT THEY WOULD DO SOME SORT OF SOFTWARE UPDATE AND THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED. THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN (11/19/14) AND THEY SAID THE UPDATE MIGHT NOT HAVE TAKEN PROPERLY, SO THEY DID THE UPDATE AGAIN. WELL IT TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS, BUT THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR IN (3/16/15) AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL DO A COMPLETE REPROGRAM JUST IN CASE THERE WAS A LINGERING ISSUE FROM LAST TIME. WELL, THAT DID NOT WORK. THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING AND I TOOK THE CAR IN YESTERDAY (4/14/15) AND THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME TODAY AND SAID THAT THEY PERFORMED A FUNCTION TEST AND COULDN'T FIND ANY ERROR CODES, SO THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. THEY SAID THAT IF IT HAPPENS TO BRING IT IN ASAP. WITH THIS ISSUE BEING SO INTERMITTENT, I HAVE RESORTED TO TAKING PHOTOS OF PEOPLE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE CAR WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I FEEL THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED MORE SERIOUSLY. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA IN JULY 2014 WITH 36,000 MILES. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT INTO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND THE SOURCE AND IT WOULD REQUIRE FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FOR $80. I DISAGREED AND LEFT. TWO DAYS LATER, MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE TRAVELING ALONG INTERSTATE 10 WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. AS I MERGED OVER TO THE LEFT LANE, EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE ENGINE WENT DEAD JUST AS I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAITED 10 MINUTES BEFORE I ATTEMPTED TO START IT UP AGAIN. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. AT THAT POINT, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY WOULD NEED TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART. I WAS WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS WHEN I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE CAR WAS READY. I SENT MY MOTHER TO PICK UP THE CAR BECAUSE I WAS AT WORK. THEY DIDN'T PROVIDE ANY REPAIR SUMMARY TO SHOW WHAT REPAIRS WERE MADE. FAST FORWARD THREE WEEKS...MY FAMILY WAS TRAVELING TO MOBILE, ALABAMA TO DEPART FOR OUR ANNUAL WALT DISNEY WORLD TRIP, WHEN YOU GUESSED IT...THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE ALTHOUGH MY FOOT WAS LITERALLY ON THE GROUND. I PULLED OVER ONCE AGAIN AND DIDN'T TRY TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON EVERY SINCE. I HAVE CONSTANTLY FOUGHT WITH THE SELLER (BOB TYLER TOYOTA) ABOUT RETURNING THIS VEHICLE. I SOLD A 2006 HONDA ACCORD EX-L WITH 176,000 MILES TO PURCHASE THIS LEMON. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE CLUNKER. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE SUGGEST OTHER OPTIONS FOR ME??? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WE HAVE TRIED TO HAVE NISSAN FIX OUR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AT LEAST 3 TIMES (ONE INCLUDING FOR A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED) AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE SENSOR ONCE AND REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TWICE. THE MOST RECENT TIME THIS OCCURRED IS THE DATE ABOVE. THE AIRBAG IS OFF WHEN I AM SITTING IN THE SEAT AND I AM A 130 POUND FEMALE. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I AM IN THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT IT COULD BE OFF ON A TRIP 15 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AND ON THE WAY HOME IT COULD BE ON. WE HAVE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS STILL OCCURS AND WE MET WITH WHAT THEY SAID WAS ONE OF THEIR "BEST TECHNICAL EXPERTS" AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS WORKING TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE WAY I AM SEATED IN THE SEAT OR THE TYPE OF ROAD WE ARE DRIVING ON. WE HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF ME IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, SITTING UPRIGHT, WITH THE LIGHT ON STATING THAT MY AIRBAG IS OFF. *TR
MY HUSBAND, 9 YEAR OLD, AND I HAD JUST LEFT KROGER LEAVING GATLINBURG, TN AFTER A WEEKS VACATION. WE PULLED ONTO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. AS THE CAR GOT TO 25-30 MPH THE HOOD JUST FLEW OPEN AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT MY HUSBAND HAD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR ON THE BUSY HIGHWAY (WE WERE IN THE FAST LANE) AND CLOSE THE HOOD. BOTH SIDE PANELS WERE COMPLETELY DAMAGED (BENT, SCRATCHED, AND CRUMBLED) AND MY HOOD IS ALSO DENTED. WE MADE OUR WAY TO A GAS STATION TO FURTHER INSPECT THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE LEVER IS PULLED THE HOOD UNLOCKS. HOWEVER, THE SAFETY DOESN'T CATCH. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PUSH THE HATCH. I AM NOW TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR I JUST BOUGHT 6 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE BEEN READING STORIES ABOUT NISSAN HAVING THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT! OCCURRENCE HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHICH LEAVES ABOUT 4 SECONDS OF NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. A LOUD NOISE IS HEARD FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA, THE VEHICLE JERKS HARD AND THE RPMS DROP AS WELL. USUALLY OCCURS WHEN DRIVING 25-35 MPH WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND/OR TURNING. *TR
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS, NISSAN HAS BEEN SELLING CARS IN THE US WITH DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. THESE DEFECTS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE, SHUDDER OR EVEN STALL WHEN ACCELERATING FROM LOW SPEEDS, WHEN ENTERING OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. *JB
WHENEVER MY WIFE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UP FRONT THE "AIR BAG OFF" INDICATOR LIGHTS UP. SHE WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 105 POUNDS. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN DEALERS, NISSAN REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND NISSAN USA IN FRANKLIN, TN ABOUT THE PROBLEM OF NOT HAVING AIR BAG PROTECTION FOR MY WIFE WHEN I AM DRIVING AND THEY ALL SAY THE VEHICLE IS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NISSAN HAS NO FIX FOR IT. MY COMPLAINTS TO THEM FALL ON DEAF EARS. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE IN OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES AND IT IS A LIGHTWEIGHT PERSON PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT JUST BECAUSE MY WIFE IS SMALL THAT DOES NOT ELIMINATE HER FROM THE NEED FOR PROTECTION. WHAT ABOUT OTHER SMALL PEOPLE? THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HOOD LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V565000(LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,222.
TAKATA RECALL- THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM, IT'S ALMOST AS IF THEY DON'T EVEN WORK. I CAN BARELY SEE IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAVE TO USE THE BRIGHTS IF I AM DRIVING TO EVEN SEE A LITTLE BIT. THIS CAR IS TOTALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED ALREADY AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE! I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. SAFETY HAZARD BY FAR!!!
MY WIFE'S VEHICLE WAS STOPPED ON I-95 ABOUT A CAR LENGTH BEHIND A MINIVAN THAT HAD ALSO STOPPED FOR DEBRIS IN THE ROAD, A TOYOTA PICKUP TRUCK HIT THE REAR OF HER CAR AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60MPH PUSHING HER CAR INTO THE MINIVAN IN FRONT OF HER AT A SPEED OF AT LEAST 30MPH, THE SRS AIRBAG IN HER CAR FAILED TO DEPLOY AND QUITE POSSIBLY THE SEATBELT AS WELL. MY WIFE STRUCK HER HEAD ON THE VEHICLE'S LEFT SIDE ROOF SUPPORT BEAM AND SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, WHIPLASH AND OTHER LESSER DEGREE INJURIES AS A RESULT. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING NISSAN HAS HAD ISSUES WITH SRS FAILURES IN 2013 ALTIMAS. *TR

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 13V069000 (AIR BAGS) AND 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
ALTHOUGH MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER A VOLUNTARY RECALL, THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DETECT SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT MOST OF THE TIME SO THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON NOTIFYING THE DRIVER THAT THE AIR BAG IS OFF. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900.
DRIVING THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30AM, GOING APPROX 10-15 MILES PER HOUR THE HOOD UNEXPECTEDLY FLEW OPEN. THE CAR WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE HOOD CLOSED. THE IMPACT OF THE HOOD FLYING OPEN BENT BACK METAL NEAR THE WINDSHIELD ON BOTH FENDERS AND THE BUMPER WAS SCRAPED HITTING A CURB OR SOMETHING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DUE TO THE EARLY HOUR THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR INJURY AS NO OTHER CARS WERE ON THE ROAD. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED 15 MINUTES LATER, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH. PHONE CALLS WERE MADE TO NISSAN AND AS WELL, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COCHRAN NISSAN (DORMONT, PA). IN BOTH INSTANCES WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE HOOD LATCH AND NISSAN WOULD NOT PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS. ODDLY THOUGH, THE DEALERSHIP WAS WILLING TO PROVIDE US A NEW HOOD LATCH AT NO COST (WOULD HAVE TO PAY LABOR TO INSTALL). I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THEIR ADJUSTER CLEARLY FOUND FAULT WITH THE HOOD LATCH AND IN AN UNSCIENTIFIC TEST THAT HE PERFORMED, THE HOOD FAILED 9 OUT OF 9 TIMES. CALLS WERE AGAIN MADE TO NISSAN WITH THIS INFORMATION AND WE WERE TOLD 'SORRY'. THEY WERE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES TO THE HOOD, BOTH FENDERS AND FRONT BUMPER. EVEN THOUGH WE WERE INFORMING THEM OF ALL THE REPORTS WE HAD FOUND ON THE INTERNET OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH 2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS. WE WERE TOLD THAT MOST LIKELY WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE HOOD RELEASE WAS USED INSTEAD OF THE GAS TANK DOOR RELEASE, AS THESE 2 RELEASES ARE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. (DOES SOMEONE SEE ANY FAULT IN THAT?). THE CLAIM FOR APPROX $2700 WENT AGAINST MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND I WAS ISSUED A CHECK FOR $2200 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. GIVEN THE NEWS ON THE RECALL I WILL BE WORKING WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO RECOVER THE $2700. *TR
OTHER DRIVER RAN A RED LIGHT HITTING THE SIDE OF MY CAR DOING OVER 50 MPH AND THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. I SCHEDULED THE PRESCRIBED FIX WITH THE DEALER, KLINE AUTOWORLD, MAPLEWOOD, MN, AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY FIXED THE RECALL PROBLEM, 07/03/2014. THEN, ON OR ABOUT 07/16/2014 THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING OFF LIGHT CAME ON WITH MY SPOUSE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I CONTACTED THE DEALER TWICE REGARDING THIS WARNING LIGHT. SO FAR THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME. *JS THE CONSUMER STATED ON SEVEN OCCASIONS SINCE THE RECALL FIX, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN AN ADULT PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. UPDATED 06/10/15. *JB
VEHICLE HAS A SHUDDER WHEN DECELERATING FROM 65 TO 60. HAS PROGRESSIVELY BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. IN ADDITION TO THE SHUDDER AT HIGHER SPEEDS, IT NOW HAS STARTED TO SHUDDER AND LACK RESPONSE AT LOWER SPEEDS AT RANDOM. THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED AT LEAST 5 MPG SINCE ALL OF THESE ISSUES STARTED. I HAVE TAKEN TO NISSAN SERVICE TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. BOTH TIMES THE PROBLEM "COULDN'T BE DUPLICATED" AND THERE ISN'T A CODE THAT SHOWS ANYTHING WRONG ON COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. ALL SEARCHES FOR THESE ISSUES IN RELATION TO A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5 SL, RETURN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS AND NO RESOLUTION. CURRENT MILEAGE IS15,000. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO KEEP ALL REPORTS FROM SERVICE SO IF THERE IS A PROBLEM LATER I HAVE DOCUMENTATION THAT IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. IT APPEARS NISSAN SHOULD GET IN FRONT OF THIS PROBLEM QUICKLY AS IT IS NOT LEAVING A GOOD MARK ON THEIR NAME TO HAVE SUCH NEW VEHICLES WITH THIS DRASTIC OF A PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT WAS BEING OCCUPIED BY A 180 POUND PASSENGER. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL AND THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. EACH TIME IT WAS NOT CORRECTED . RECENTLY I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THIS PROBLEM AS PART OF THE SAFETY RECALL . DESPITE THIS ,ONCE AGAIN THIS PAST WEEKEND THE " AIRBAG OFF " LIGHT COMES ON EVEN THOUGH A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT . THE LIGHT WILL COME ON RANDOMLY AND THEN STAY LIT THE WHOLE TIME I AM DRIVING ... NO MATTER HOW THE PASSENGER SITS OR MOVES IN THE SEAT IT WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN RESTARTED . NOW THE DEALER SAYS TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR THE 5TH TIME AND THEY WILL SEE IF THERE IS AN ERROR CODE . ( IN THE PAST THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY ERROR CODES RETAINED ) I FEEL THIS CAR IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY UNTIL THIS PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED ... CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED FOR THE RECALL ON 4 SEPERATE OCCASIONS AND DEALER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO AS THEY HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE REMEDIES AND CANNOT FIX IT. THEY REFUSE DOING ANYTHING ELSE TO DO AND SAY IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP IS NISSAN OF MCKINNEY IN TEXAS. GENERAL MANAGER IS DAVID KELLY AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN IS MATT JOHNSON. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THEY SOLD AN EXTENDED MAINTANCE WARRANTY TO ME AND MISS REPRESENTED THE PRODUCT AND DID NOTHING TO MAKE AMENDS UNTIL I INQUIRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. NISSAN OF MCKINNEY IN TEXAS SOLD THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH PREMIUM DUNLOP TIRES AND CHARGED A PREMIUM FOR THE TIRES AT THE TIME OF THE SALE. THE ORIGNIAL DUNLOP TIRES ARE BALD AN WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION, WHICH WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY MATT AND GENERAL MANAGER DAVID KELLY, AT 19,000 MILES. THESE TIRES HAVE A 65,0000 MANUFACTURE WARRANTY FROM DUNLOP/GOODYEAR AND THE DEALER WILL NOT MAKE GOOD OR REPLACE THE TIRES AS THEY ARE CLEARLY FAULTY. THE MISSREPRESENTATION OF THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS CAUSED AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF UNDO STRESS AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO MAKE ANY REMEDY AT ALL. NISSAN OF MCKINNEY TEXAS AND THEIR GENERAL MANAGER HAVE SOLD ME A CAR THAT FALLS UNDER THE TEXAS LEMON LAW.

AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE REACHED 70 MPH, THE HOOD ABRUPTLY OPENED AND FLEW INTO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT HAD TO STICK HIS HEAD OUT THE DRIVER'S WINDOW IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROADWAY AND SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO UNLATCH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THAT THE SAFETY LATCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HOOD, SIDE PANELS AND THE ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,200.

WHEN I TEST DROVE AND PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, EVERYTHING SEEMED GREAT. IT WAS A VERY SHORT TEST DRIVE THOUGH. NOT EVEN 1MONTH AFTER BUYING THE CAR, I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT. I NOTICED THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING TO BE NOT AS TIGHT OR RESPONSIVE (DIMINISHED) AND ALSO NOTICE A LOT OF WANDER IN THE FONT END AND UNDERSTEER/OVERSTEER. ALONG WITH THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING PROBLEMS CAME THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTER. AT LOWER SPEED ACCELERATION (APPROX. 25-40MPH), THERE IS A SHUTTER OR JUMPY FEELING. TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND HAS YET TO BE DONE. MY SERVICE TECH HAS BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE ALL THE PROBLEMS, BUT NISSAN TECH LINE REFUSES TO FIX ANYTHING BECAUSE "IT IS UP TO NISSAN STANDARDS". THIS OCCURS WITH MALES AND FEMALES RANGING FROM 40TH TO 70TH PERCENTILE IN ALL GENDERS. I HAVE RECORDED VIDEOS OF THESE INCIDENTS FOR RECORD OF THEIR OCCURRENCE. THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO PULL OVER, POWER CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTART CAR. ON RESTART THE CAR RECOGNIZED THE OCCUPANT AND ENABLED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE DATE OF INCIDENT IS OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING MAY 2015 WITH APPROXIMATELY 29,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
THIS IS A FIRST TIME INCIDENT PERTAINING TO MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN. MY BRAKE WARNING LAMP (RED) ILLUMINATED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED OF 45 MPH. NOTE...EARLIER IN THE MORNING I DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CONFIRMED THAT MY PARKING BRAKE PEDAL WAS FULLY RELEASED. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND MOMENTS LATER I RESTARTED IT. THE BRAKE WARNING LAMP STAYED ILLUMINATED. KNOWING THAT MY BRAKES WERE PERFORMING NORMALLY, I CONTINUED ON MY JOURNEY AND DROVE HOME. AT THAT TIME I CHECKED THE VEHICLES BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FLUID LEVEL. IT WAS SLIGHTLY BELOW THE RESERVOIR'S MAXIMUM INDICATOR. IN ADDITION I CHECKED AND CONFIRMED THAT MY REAR BRAKE LAMPS WERE OPERATING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR APPROX. 4 HOURS AND THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. THE BRAKE WARNING LAMP WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. I THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES WITHOUT THE PROBLEM RECURRING. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE DAYTIME TEMPERATURE WAS RATHER HIGH AT 94 DEGREES. *TR
WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR AN INTERSECTION ALL ELECTRONICS ON CAR STOPPED WITH NO WARNING AND MOTOR SHUT DOWN. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASH. CAR BECAME COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONING IN AN INSTANT. NO POWER BREAKS OR STEERING, DASH LIGHTS, CONSOLE DISPLAY OR IGNITION ON INDICATOR. GOT CAR TO A STOP. PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED WITH NO ERRORS OR INDICATIONS THAT THE CAR MECHANICALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY JUST DIED. CLOCK WAS SET TO THE CORRECT TIME BUT TRIP ODOMETER AND MANY OTHER CUSTOMIZED SETTINGS WERE RESET. ACTED AS IF THE ECM DID A RESET WHILE DRIVING. *TR
OUR CAR HAS DARK INTERIOR WITH A BLACK DASHBOARD. ON HIGH TEMPERATURE DAYS, THE SURFACE OF THE DASHBOARD BECOMES TACKY AND VERY SHINY. WHEN IT IS IN THIS CONDITION, IT AFFECTS MY VISIBILITY. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS OF THE POSITION OF THE SUN, THE SUNLIGHT REFLECTS OFF THE SURFACE OF THE DASHBOARD AND INTO MY EYES. AT TIMES, THE SUNLIGHT REFLECTS OFF THE SURFACE OF THE DASHBOARD AND ONTO THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND RESULTS IN A BRIGHT REFLECTION OF THE DASHBOARD WHICH GREATLY REDUCES VISIBILITY. FROM SEARCHES ON INTERNET, I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. IT APPEARS THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE FORMULATION OF PLASTIC USED FOR DASHBOARDS ON SOME CARS PRODUCED WHICH IS CAUSING AN EXUDATION OF CHEMICALS IN HIGH TEMPERATURES. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. IF THIS DEFECT HAS NOT ALREADY CONTRIBUTED TO AN ACCIDENT, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT DOES. *JS

THE BRAKES MAKE NOISE ALL THE TIME EVEN WITH NEW BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS,THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIKE TURN ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY SO DECIDED TO PARK THE CAR TO CHECK THE EMEGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ON, IT TURNED OFF AFTER THE CAR RESTED FOR 2HRS. BROUGHT MY CAR IN WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG HAD AN ISSUE DUE TO A SOFTWARE GLITCH. AFTER BRINGING THE CAR IN AND HAVING THE SOFTWARE UPDATED, A FEW DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON WHILE THERE WAS A PASSENGER (MYSELF, ADULT FEMALE ABOUT 130 LBS) IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT (MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THE LIGHT HAD COME ON). I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR AND HAD THE RECALL REPAIR MADE, THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER CARS ALSO REPORTING THAT THE ERROR CONTINUED EVEN AFTER HAVING THE SOFTWARE FIX APPLIED. THEY TOLD ME I'D HAVE TO BRING THE CAR IN AND THEY WOULD TRY TO DUPLICATE THE ERROR AND POSSIBLY REPLACE A SEAT TRACK, BUT WOULD NEED TO CONFIRM WITH NISSAN ON WHETHER OR NOT THEY COULD DO THIS. I THINK IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT IF THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE AND KNOW THE FIX DID NOT FIX IT, THEY NEED TO PROCEED WITH ADDITIONAL STEPS IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THIS FAILURE IN THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT. *TR
THE HEADLIGHT'S ON THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE VERY BAD, THEY PUT OUT NO LIGHTING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE FOR NISSAN. SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated the driver’s side frontal air bag and the passenger’s side frontal air bag sensors were replaced under an unknown recall; however, the air bag sensor warning lights had been illuminating while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of repair because the VIN was not included in a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,984.
The lights on this car have always had an issue ever since I bought it off the lot in 2014 new with 35 miles on the car. The first couple of years I continued to return to the dealer where I bought the car to have them replace the lights but I got tired of dealing with returning to not get favorable results. It for sure is a Nissan issue. The cosmetic light strips on the rearview mirrors on both sides of the vehicle also had condensation visibly in the strips as well. I had those also supposedly replaced as well. The issue is still there all these years later just got annoyed with returning to the dealer and wasting lots of time with no results. I have pictures of the issue dated a few weeks after buying the car in 2014, May. The headlights look pretty dull and not bright when driving. I am on this website to see in fact if there is a recall on the lights but apparently there is not.
ON MAY 26, 2014 APPROX 9:30AM WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED IN EASTERN PA. IN MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SL, WE HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXTREMELY LOUD GUN SHOT TYPE SOUND RIGHT ABOVE THE CAR ROOF. AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND VISIBLY SHAKEN INCLUDING MY 2 OCCUPANTS WE SLOWLY PULLING BACK THE SUNROOF LINER THAT WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME. IT WAS NOTICED THE ENTIRE SUNROOF HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE CAR ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND TRUNK AREA. THE REMAINING GLASS WAS BULGED OUTWARD LIKE THE GLASS WAS PUSHED OUTWARD FROM INSIDE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER OF IMPACT FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR. THE ROOF, TRUNK AND REAR SPOILER WERE COVERED IN SMALL SHARDS OF GLASS WITH MANY NOTICEABLE DEEP SCRATCHES FROM THE GLASS IMPACT. WE STOPPED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN WILKES BARRE, PA AND SHOWED THE DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM WE JUST ENCOUNTERED. THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED AND COVERED THE DAMAGED SUNROOF AND ADVISED US TO DRIVE SLOWLY HOME UNTIL YOU COULD CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD GIVE ME NO REASON WHY THIS HAPPENED OR HAD NEVER HEARD OR SEEN THIS PROBLEM. I NOTIFIED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHEN I GOT HOME AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. I WAS ADVISED FROM MY DEALERSHIP AFTER THEY CLAIMED THEY CONTACTED NISSAN MOTORS AND THE LOCAL NISSAN AREA REP. THAT THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME ANY REASON WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN. THEY TOLD ME THEY USUALLY DON'T COVER GLASS BREAKAGE BUT CALLED IT A GOOD WILL GESTURE AND WOULD REPLACE THE SMASHED SUNROOF AT NO CHARGE BUT REFUSED TO FIX THE DAMAGED PAINT THAT WAS CAUSED FROM THE GLASS HITTING THE ROOF, TRUNK AND SPOILER SURFACE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SENSOR WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A PERSON SEATED AT THE WEIGHT OF 130 POUNDS OR LESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 28,500.
WHILE PARKING IN A PARKING LOT, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP. IN THE FIRST INCIDENT 5/20/14 THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OF DAMAGE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE INTENDED PARKING SPACE AND DRIFTED TO A STOP. THE SECOND INCIDENT 8/25/14 RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE DRIVER'S FRONT IMPACTED THE DRIVER'S FRONT OF A CAR THAT WAS PARKED. *TR
CAR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY AND NEXT DAY NOTICED AN EXTERIOR CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD FROM MIDDLE OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO THE CENTER WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE OF IMPACT FROM A FOREIGN OBJECT. SIZE OF CRACK IS ABOUT 12"-17". *JS
DRIVING TO WORK , GOING ABOUT 45 MPH. WITH NO WARNING THE HOOD JUST FLEW UP TO THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS ABLE TO STOP PROMPTLY, AND DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT. MY HOOD WAS NOT POPPED OPEN, AND IT WAS NOT JUST THE SAFETY LATCH HOLDING IT, IT JUST POPPED OPEN. I WAS SO LUCKY NOT TO HAVE BEEN ON A BUSY STREET, SO NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED.....HOWEVER 3175.00 DAMAGE TO MY CAR HAD TO BE FIXED. THERE HAS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE LATCH... THIS IS MY 4TH ALTIMA, AND I HAVE ALSO WORKED FOR A NISSAN DEALERSHIP....NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE,,,,UNTIL NOW..... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON UNEVEN PAVEMENT, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,600.
FOG LIGHT SHATTERED ON PASSENGER SIDE. I CONFIRMED IT WAS NOT IMPACT RELATED AND RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT THE PROBLEM UNLESS I PAID FOR THE PART FIRST. I REPLACED THE PART MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THE LIGHT UNIT HAD: 1. NOT BEEN TIGHTENED DOWN AND 2. AND INCREDIBLY, HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED BY SOMEONE WHO USED A CIGARETTE BUTT AS A WASHER UNDER ONE OF THE TWO BOLTS THAT HOLD THE LIGHT UNIT IN PLACE. *TR
