I WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF A STORE. I EXITED THE CAR TO PUT MY MOTHER'S WALKER IN THE TRUNK. I HAD REACHED THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE (ON DRIVER'S SIDE) WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE. I RAN AFTER IT AND GRABBED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE TO TRY AND SLOW OR STOP THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS IN GEAR AND I WAS THROWN TO THE GROUND INJURING MY KNEE. THE CAR PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO TWO OTHER CARS BEFORE IT CAME TO A STOP. I WAS IN SHOCK AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL IN AN AMBULANCE. I WAS NOT THINKING CLEARLY AND ASSUMED THAT I HAD ACCIDENTALLY LEFT THE CAR IN DRIVE. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, WHEN I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN I NOTED THAT WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY START FORWARD, RENDERING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT BEING PAINFULLY AWARE THAT IT WAS ALREADY MOVING. THE SURGE FORWARD WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER I GOT OUT. I RETURNED TO THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT TO TEST OUT THE HYPOTHESIS THAT I MAY HAVE LEFT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. THE ROAD WAS PERFECTLY FLAT AND THE CAR DID NOT MOVE WHEN IN NEUTRAL. I REPOSITIONED THE CAR UP AND DOWN THE ROAD IN FIVE YARD INCREMENTS AND AT NO POINT DID THE CAR MOVE FORWARD FROM A STOP WHEN SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. HE DID NOT ASK ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN. HE GAVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER OF THE NATIONAL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT. I CALLED AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER. I HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM THE INVESTIGATOR ASSIGNED TO THE CASE. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS DURING ACCELERATION, GENERALLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR THUS HESITATION OCCURS WHEN ENTERING HIGHER SPEED LANES.(I.E. A MOMENTARY HESITATION IN POWER DURING ACCELERATION) *JS
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SHOWING DISENGAGED WHILE OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. NO AIRBAG DASH NOTIFICATION ON FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT.
HAD RECALL FOR PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT PERFORMED IN JUNE. HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THE PASS AIRBAG LIGHT TURNING ON WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT SINCE THE RECALL. THE LATEST HAPPENED YESTERDAY WITH MY WIFE SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. ITS BEGINNING TO CONCERN ME THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. JUDGING BY THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX. NHTSA NEEDS TO REOPEN AN INVESTIGATION FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
LOST POWER WHILE UNDERWAY ON A SECONDARY ROAD. JUST BEFORE THE INCIDENT, THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS JUST ENOUGH INERTIA TO MOVE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *JS
THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT AROUND MIDNIGHT.THE HOOD POPPED OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN.FORTUNATELY ,THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN THE FRONT OR REAR.THIS SCARED THE HELL OUT OF US.WE CHECKED THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS WERE REPORTED.WE FOUND THAT 238,000 NISSA ALTIMA 2013 WERE BEING RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.WE BROUGHT THE MATTER TO THE DEALER,S ATTENTION AS WELL AS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE MANUFACTURER.WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THA THE VIN OF OUR VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL.NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE.THE HOOD IS DAMAGED ON BOTH SIDES NEAR THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE IT SLAMMED INTO WINDSHIELD WHEN IT POPPED OPEN.WE ARE DEMANDING JUSTICE AND REPAIR OF OUR VEHICLE AND A SAFETY CHECK. *JS

I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE MY CAR REACHED JUST OVER 60K MILES. I'VE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND KEEP TELLING ME IT'S NOT A VIN NUMBER THAT COMES UP IN A RECALL, BUT SOME OF THE 2012-2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS ARE GETTING NOTICES FOR WHAT MY COMPLAINT IS ON MY CAR. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE TOLD ME TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION THAT IT SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE, SO I DID THAT AND NO HELP WITH THE ISSUE. I'VE SINCE TAKEN BACK TWO MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND NOT GETTING ANY RESULTS AND THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY EITHER TELL ME IT'S NOT PART OF THE CARS ON RECALL OR IT'S THE WAY THAT TRANSMISSION IS, WHICH THEY ALREADY AGREED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WHEN THEY REQUIRED ME TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE 60K MILES. I'VE SINCE TAKEN MY CAR TO TWO OTHER OUTSIDE MECHANICS AND THEY AGREE THERE IS AN ISSUE, BUT NISSAN NEEDS TO REPAIR IT. I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING. *TR
THE GLOW IN THE DARK EMERGENCY TRUNK RELEASE HANDLE PULLED OFF. EITHER THE ANGLE AT WHICH IT WAS POSITIONED OR THE MATERIALS MADE IT SO FLIMSY THAT IT PULLED OFF WITHIN THE TRUNK. I THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS BUT I CAN'T SEE ON. *TR
BRAND NEW VEHICLE JUST SHY OF 1 YEAR BOUGHT AND CHECK ENGINE GOES ON TWICE FOR REPROGRAM OF OXYGEN SENSOR, ONCE IN TOWN BEFORE THANKSGIVING WEEK IN NOVEMBER 2014 AND A SECOND TIME WHILE OUT OF TOWN FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS. FRUSTRATING THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED AND IT WASN'T DONE THE FIRST TIME. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY JUST CLEARED THE SYSTEM AND THE LIGHT AND IT CAME BACK ON WHILE OUT OF TOWN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
ON FRIDAY 14, 2014 APPROXIMATELY8:33 P.M. I WAS DRIVING DOWN N. TYRON ST IN CHARLOTTE, NC IN TRAFFIC WHEN MY CAR SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY DUE TO THE KEY NOT BEING DETECTED. THE KEY WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THEN A LADY MISS HITTING ME IN THE REAR BY A INCH; DUE TO MY CAR JUST CUTTING OFF INDICATING MY KEY WAS NOT IN THE CAR. I TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP WHEN I PRESS THE START KEY AND THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME TIME; IT WILL SAY THE KEY IS NOT BEING DETECTED. WHEN I PRESS THE AUTOMATIC START BUTTON ON THE KEY, THE CAR WOULD START UP BUT WHEN I PRESS THE START BUTTON AND THE BRAKE TOGETHER IT CUT OFF AND THE SAY THING COMES UP ON THE DASHBOARD. THEN ONCE IT DID CUT ON WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE THE CUTS OFF AND SAYS THE KEY IS NOT BEING DETECTED. THIS A SAFETY ISSUES AND VERY DANGEROUS, IF THE LADY BEHIND ME WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION IT WOULD OF BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT. I DON'T TRUST MY CAR AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. WHEN I CALLED NISSAN THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING AND DID NOT ASSIST ME UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY 19,2014 AND I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR SINCE. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE OR CONCERN ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS WELL-BEING AT ALL. IT BEEN 12 RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION OF ANY OF THEM BY CAPITAL NISSAN OF WILMINGTON OR THE REGIONAL OFFICE. *TR
I WAS TRYING TO GET INTO MY CAR TO GET TO WORK. THE KEY FOB WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL, THE DAS WAS TELLING ME THAT MY KEY I'D WAS INCORRECT. IT TOOK SEVERAL HOURS AND THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY BATTERY. I HAVE SINCE CHANGED MY BATTERY AND STILL AM HAVING THE PROBLEM. TONIGHT I WAS STUCK OUTSIDE OF MY CAR FOR HOURS B4 IT WOULD OPEN. *TR
NOV. 7TH 2014. NAVIGATION SYSTEM QUIT ON MY 2013 ALTIMA, IT'S A V6 SL WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. TOOK TO MCGAVOCK NISSAN LUBBOCK TX.. IN THE PROCESS OF REPAIRS I WAS TOLD THEY BURNT THE ECM. PICKED UP CAR TUESDAY NOV. 11TH 2014. SUNDAY NOV.16TH. 2014 CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MONDAY NOV. 17TH TOW TRK PICKED UP CAR. THEY TOLD MY SON THE ACCELERATOR MODULE HAD BURNT OUT. I GOT THE PAPER MCGAVOCK HANDED ME WHEN CAR PICKED UP. ON THE 11TH ITS STATES ALL THAT WAS DONE TO THE CAR INCLUDING REPLACING THE ECM. WEDNESDAY NOV. 19TH I CALLED NISSAN USA EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT THE CAR NOT BEING TRUST WORTHY. MCGAVOCK WROTE ON SERVICE ORDER THE CAR IS FLOODING THEN THE ACCELERATOR BURNT OUT. THIS CAR IS GOING TO GIVE PROBLEMS FROM NOW ON. I TOLD NISSAN USA I WANTED A NEW CAR WITH NO COST TO ME SINCE THE CAR IS NOW BASICALLY A LEMON. MY SON TALKED TO SERVICE ADVISOR AND SERVICE MGR. THEY NOW DENY REPLACING THE ECM. SERVICE MGR SAYS THE PAPERWORK I WAS GIVEN. THE CASHIER MADE A MISTAKE SAYS HE HAS THE FINAL PAPERWORK. *TR
THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THE CAR FOR THE HOOD LATCH. APPARENTLY, ALL THAT IS DONE IS THEY BEND THE HOOD LATCH. THEREFORE, THERE IS NO MONEY IN IT FOR THE DEALERS AND I CAN'T FIND ONE THAT WILL PERFORM THE WORK. ONE, AUTONATION NISSAN, SAID THEY WOULD DO IT BUT ONLY IF I SCHEDULED OTHER WORK AT THE SAME TIME. I CONTACTED NISSAN, BUT THEY REFUSED TO GET INVOLVED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY HOOD SLAMMED UP INTO MY WINDSHIELD BLOCKING MY VIEW OF SIGHT WHILE I WAS GOING 60 MPH. THE LIGHT ON THE CEILING CAME OUT OF THE HOUSING AND HIT ME ON THE HEAD. IT FELT LIKE A BOULDER LANDED ON MY CAR. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO SWERVE SAFELY TWO LANES OVER TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I THEN EXAMINED THE DAMAGE AND THE HOOD WAS ALL DENTED UP, THE STEEL ON THE FENDERS WAS ALL TORN, AND THE ROOF HAD MAJOR DENTS. I WAS ABLE TO SLAM THE HOOD SHUT, GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AT A VERY SLOW SPEED AND TOOK LOCAL ROADS TO MY DESTINATION. I WAS VERY SHOOK UP BY THE INCIDENT, AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I FOUND OUT THAT MORNING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OUT BY NISSAN FOR THE HOOD LATCH (NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V565000) THAT OPENED ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2014 (APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AND A HALF PRIOR TO MY INCIDENT). TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, MY CAR WAS IN THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON OCTOBER 17, 2014 AND NO ONE MENTIONED THE RECALL TO ME AT THAT TIME EITHER. THAT TIME WAS THE LAST TIME THE HOOD WAS OPENED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT OCCURRING. IT IS BLATANTLY CLEAR THAT NISSAN IS AT FAULT WITH THIS ACCIDENT, THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE 5 TIMES AND HAVE STILL HAD NO RESOLUTION AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME A SPECIALIST IS SUPPOSED TO CALL ME BY THE END OF THE DAY 3 TIMES. I WAS EVEN GIVEN THE INDIVIDUAL'S CONTACT INFORMATION DURING THE 4TH CALL, AND HE FAILS TO REPORT MY CALLS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO TO TRY AND RESOLVE MY ISSUE. I PURCHASED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA S FROM CARMAX ON 10/5/14. THE CAR WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A BIRTHDAY PRESENT TO MYSELF SEEING AS THOUGH I HAD NOT PURCHASED A CAR IN 12 YEARS. I WAS VERY EXCITED, BUT SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE ALTIMA, I STARTED TO HEAR SQUEALING COMING FROM THE BRAKES, AND ALSO ROARING AND RUMBLING WHICH STARTED IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR, AND PROCEEDED TO THE CENTER. I ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE CAR LOCKING UP AND DRIVING SLUGGISH, AND THEN RELEASING ONCE THE RUMBLING BRIEFLY STOPPED. I AM ALSO HEARING AN ANNOYING WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CARMAX, THEY TOLD ME THE ROARING WAS COMING FROM MY WINDSHIELD WASHER COMPARTMENT THAT WAS LOOSE, AND THAT MY BRAKES WERE FIXED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I LEFT AND DROVE AROUND THE CORNER, AND THE SQUEALING BRAKES AND ROARING CAME BACK. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA, AND AFTER TELLING THEM ABOUT THE ROARING AND THE WHINING, THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT HE'S QUITE FAMILIAR WITH THE SOUND, AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT THE WHINING SOUND IS COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING AND THE ROARING IS COMING FROM THE WAY I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. HOW DARE HE! I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH BEFORE I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. HE WOULD NOT EVEN TRY TO LOOK INTO THE LIST OF ISSUES I REQUESTED TO BE FIXED. THE NISSAN MANAGER TOLD ME TO GO BACK TO CARMAX OR I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE BRAKES TO BE FIXED, AND EVEN CHARGED ME TO ROTATE MY TIRES. I LEFT PAYING HIM FOR A SERVICE THAT I DID NOT ORIGINALLY COME IN FOR. I WENT BACK TO CARMAX AND THEY FINALLY FIXED MY BRAKES, BUT STILL COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG THAT WOULD CAUSE THE EXTREMELY ANNOYING ROARING AND WHINING NOISES. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE, AND I AM THINKING ABOUT TAKING LEGAL ACTION. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE ENTIRELY INADEQUATE TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT LIGHTING INTENSITY AND FAILED TO SAFELY ILLUMINATE THE STREET AHEAD OF YOU. THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, WHILE RAINING, OR UNDER ANY LOW VISIBILITY CONDITIONS SINCE YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SEE OBJECTS, EVEN WORST, PEDESTRIANS IN THE PATH OF TRAVEL. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR (BRAND NEW), BUT BECAME A REAL SERIOUS AND SAFETY HAZARD BETWEEN 15K-20K MILES. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS AT NIGHT LEAVING OTHER DRIVERS WITH A PARTIAL BLINDNESS; WHICH I CONSIDER IT UNFAIR AND UNSAFE, TOO. SOMETIMES, WHEN I SWITCH TO LOW FOR AN ONCOMING VEHICLE, I SUDDENLY FIND MYSELF DRIVING COMPLETELY WITHOUT SUFFICIENT LIGHT. MY EYES BECOME PARTIALLY BLIND DUE TO THE CHANGE IN LIGHT INTENSITY. AS A SAFETY PROFESSIONAL IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY, I HOPE THAT NISSAN AND NHTSA DO SOMETHING SOONER, BECAUSE TOMORROW MIGHT BE TOO LATE.
I HAVE THESE ISSUES EVERYDAY DRIVING THIS CAR. SHUTTERING AT LOW RPM WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING, NOTICEABLE DELAY IN GEARS SHIFTING WHEN SHUTTERING IS OCCURRING BETWEEN 1200 AND 1800 RPM. RPM'S INCREASE RAPIDLY(SHARP SPIKE) WHEN CAR IS GOING DOWN HILL BUT DOES NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO GAIN SPEED. THE RAMPING OF RPM'S IS LOUD AND RESEMBLES WHEN YOU HIT GAS TO ACCELERATE TO ENTER A HIGHWAY ONLY YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE ACCELERATION IN SPEED. ALSO COMING UP HILL THE CAR GIVES OFF A BURNING SMELL. I HAVE NOT LOCATED THE SOURCE OF THE BURNING SMELL AND IT GOES AWAY AFTER GOING BACK TO FLATTER TERRAIN FOR AWHILE. THE SMELL LINGERS ENOUGH TO CAUSE CONCERN. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST WENT DEAD. THE STEERING WAS DIFFICULT AS I AM 18 AND NOT VERY STRONG. I WAS UNABLE TO GET FROM THE HIGHWAY WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS. AFTER RESEARCH MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH I FEEL IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2003 AND NISSAN HAS NOT REMEDIED THE ISSUE. *TR
AS MANY OTHERS HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, THIS 2013 ALTIMA WILL NOT DETECT AN ADULT PASSENGER (140+ LBS) AND WILL TURN OFF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE INITIAL SAFETY RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED ON THE CAR (PRIOR TO OUR PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE), BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL DEALERS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT APPEARS THAT NISSAN DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THIS HUGE SAFETY CONCERN MAKES THE CAR UNUSABLE WHEN WE NEED TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE PERSON IN THE CAR AND WE CANNOT GET THE AIRBAG TO WORK PROPERLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE HOOD LATCH FRACTURED AND RELEASED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE FENDERS SUSTAINED DAMAGES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR IN THE AFTERNOON MY DASH BOARD HAD MELTED DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT WAVE OUTSIDE. *TR
FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON WITH ADULT PASSENGER IN SEAT. INDICATES "AIR BAG OFF" CONTINUALLY EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AN ADULT WEIGHING MORE THAN 120 LBS. IN PASSENGER SEAT. RECALL SERVICE FOR "NTB14-027 OCS REPROGRAM" HAD BEEN PERFORMED BY NISSAN DEALER ON THIS VEHICLE ON JUNE 18, 2014. *TR
