VERY HARD SHUTTER AT DURING ACCELERATION LOW SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THIS SHUTTER CAUSES A HESITATION WHICH COULD PROVE DANGEROUS. *TR
WE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT MANY HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT INDICATING THAT IT IS OFF BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH WEIGHT IS BEING DISTRIBUTED IN THE SEAT TO REGISTER WHILE DRIVING. MY WIFE IS 140 LBS AND IT IS CONSTANTLY TURNING OFF AND ON. TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIPS TOLD MY WIFE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT THAT SOME WOMEN SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT AND SO THEY ARE NOT SITTING CORRECTLY FOR IT TO REGISTER. SO... I BEGAN SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT (I'M 6'3 225 LBS) AND IT STILL DOES IT. I LOVE NISSAN CARS AND TRUCKS BUT THIS IS A LUDICROUS ANSWER!! HOW CAN YOU SIT IN A SEAT OF A CAR WRONG!!!!
HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. HEARD VERY LOUDLY IN CABIN OF CAR AT ALL TIMES WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING UNDER 30-35 MPH ON ROADS. ONCE ON FREEWAY OR GOING FASTER THE ENGINE DROWNS OUT THE NOISE. *TR
EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE MY BRAKES, WHICH ALSO STARTS MY CAR WILL OCCASIONALLY FEEL LIKE THEY GET STUCK SOUNDS AS IF THEY MIGHT BE RUSTY AND WHEN I APPLY PRESSURE THEY CATCH. I WILL APPLY AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY CLICK DOWN. I'M AFRAID THE LONGER IT GOES ON SOONER OR LATER THEY WILL NO LONGER WORK. HAPPENS MOTION AND STATIONARY . SUSPENSION' EVERY BUMP I GO OVER I FEEL LIKE MY CAR IS HITTING ROCK BOTTOM. SLOW OR NORMAL SPEED. ALL THESE PROBLEMS I HAVE TOLD SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE. I WAS FLUFFED OFF TELLING ME IT WAS THIS OR THAT AND IT WAS NORMAL. I DROVE THE SAME CAR 'A RENTAL'NEVER NEVER FELT ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS. THAT IS WHY I DECIDED TO BUY A NISSAN. BIG MISTAKE.
ENGINE JUDDERING THAT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. SIGNIFICANT CABIN VIBRATION AND NOISE WITH SLOW ACCELERATION ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER. HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS , HIGHWAY OR CITY.
The headlights has a recall but the dealership told me if the previous owner didn't fix it, it didn't do me any justice. I have to drive with bright lights on at night because the headlights are pointed at the ground but not up ahead to see what's in front of me. It's very hard to see. I haven't had the car a year and I really love my car. The $1,600 to fix, is what the Nissian dealership in my town quoted me. I am a single mom with elementary aged kids, driving them to school, it's still little dark.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM; MAKES NIGHT DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT; THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT VERY GOOD EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW AND HAVE GOTTEN WORSE AS THE CAR AGES
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVE IN THE 2014 RECALL FOR THE SAFETY DEFECT DUE TO A COMPUTER PROGRAM COULD MISJUDGE THE WEIGHT OF THE PERSON IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND CONCLUDE THAT A CHILD INSTEAD OF AN ADULT WAS SITTING THERE. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER HAS TRIED AT LEST 5 TIME TIMES TO CORRECT TO NO AVAIL
THERE IS A LOUD, NOTICEABLE CREAKING/CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER AREA WHEN TRAVELING OVER BUMPS (SUCH AS A PARKING LOT SPEED BUMP). THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED STRUTS, SPRINGS, DROPPED THE TRANSMISSION, ETC AND AFTER 19 DAYS IS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR THIS NOISE. BOTH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND SOMEONE FROM NISSAN HAVE ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 47 DAYS AND LESS THAN 700 MILES. SO FAR IT HAS SPENT 22 DAYS IN THE SHOP FOR A MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS; IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AS THIS COMPLAINT IS BEING SUBMITTED. *TR
MY 18 YEAR OLD SON, WEIGHING APROX. 135 LBS, 5'11", SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH HIS FEET ON THE EDGE OF THE SEAT. I SEE THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT GO ON. (INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF.) THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES. AFTER 1ST HEARING ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, I WAS EXPECTING TO RECEIVE A LETTER FROM NISSAN. DIDN'T HAPPEN. EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS EXHIBITING THE SAME DEFECT THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NOT AN ISSUE... *TR
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOOD ERRONEOUSLY UNLATCHED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY ICE AND COLD TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000. RK
I HAVE A VEHICLE WITH AN INTERMITTENT PASSENGER AIRBAG CIRCUIT PROBLEM. IT WILL ILLUSTRATE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT ANYTIME FROM STARTUP TO 20 MILES LATER. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. NISSAN HAS NOW INFORMED US TO WAIT 30 SECONDS AFTER STARTING BEFORE ENGAGING THE TRANSMISSION OR STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR THAT REQUIRED ME TO TURN OFF THE INTERSTATE TO RESTART THE CAR. NISSAN IS NOW REFUSING TO REPAIR THE CAR. *TR
DRIVING WITH A PERSON IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED TO INDICATE THE AIRBAG HAD TURNED OFF. IT DID THIS TWICE ON THE SAME DAY. THE PERSON SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS 175 LBS, WELL BIG ENOUGH THAT THE SENSORS SHOULD HAVE DETECTED. THIS APPEARS, FROM NUMEROUS ONLINE FORUMS, TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. PRIOR TO MANUFACTURE OF MY 2013 ALTIMA (06/2013) A RECALL WAS CONDUCTED FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, POST RECALL, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. MANY PEOPLE COULD BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED AS A RESULT OF THIS SAFETY FAILURE. *TR
THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG STATUS LIGHT (PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF), ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY WITH A FULL SIZED ADULT SITTING IN THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. NISSAN CLAIMS THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN ID# PC214, DATED APRIL 2, 2013. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG STATUS LAMP IS LOCATED ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER STACK. THIS INTERMITTENT CONDITION HAS OCCURRED TWICE THROUGH THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2013. THE WARNING INDICATOR WILL TURN OFF AND OPERATE CORRECTLY AFTER I TURN OFF MY RUNNING ENGINE AND RESTART. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V244000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND HAVE CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON SAYING THE AIR BAG IS OFF WHEN A PASSENGER OF MORE THAN 125 POUNDS IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. CAR HAS BEEN TO NISSAN SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO COMPUTER CODES. I'VE DOCUMENTED THIS HAPPENING 9 TIMES SINCE JULY AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS. WHEN I SEE THE LIGHT, I STOP THE CAR, TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND LIGHT GOES OUT. ONE TIME THE PASSENGER MOVING AROUND IN THE SEAT CAUSED THE LIGHT TO GO OUT. I DO NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE THE AIR BAG WILL WORK IF NEEDED. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA HAS JUST ABOUT WASHED THEIR HANDS OF TRYING TO FIX IT AND TELL ME THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. FRUSTRATED~! *TR
CAR SHAKES AT 1900 RPM (EVERYTIME YOU PASS BY 1900RPM) AND WHEN STOPPED AT LIGHT (WHEN YOU HAVE BRAKES APPLIED). THIS VIBRATION CAN BE FEELED BY DRIVER & PASSENGER AND WHOLE CAR SHAKES. I HAD IT POINTED OUT DURING THE SERVICING/OIL CHANGES TO NISSAN TECHNICIAN AND ALL I GOT IS "IT IS NORMAL FOR CVT SO CAR WILL VIBRATE". THIS VIBRATION IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS ON AN AVG I DRIVER THE CAR FOR AN HOUR A DAY. AND IF I STOP AT LIGHTS FOR 10 MINUTES ON AN AVG, THEN I AM EXPOSING MY SELF TO THIS VIBRATION FOR THAT MUCH TIME A DAY WHICH IS BAD. ITS SPECIALLY BAD FOR MY LEGS. NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AT THE MOMENT FOR THIS ISSUE BUT I EPXECT A BRAND NEW CAR NOT TO VIBRATE AS HORRIBLE AS THIS. MY 10 YEAR OLD CAR WAS MUCH SMOOTHER THEN THIS. THE OVERALL EXPERIANCE IS HORRIBLE AND WILL ADVISE ALL TO STAY AWAY FROM NISSAN BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ADMITTING THE PROBLEM AND THEY DONT HAVE THE SOLUTION FOR SUCH A PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE EFFECTS ON LONG TERM EXPOSURE AND I FEEL GOVERMENT SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V565000 (STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,367.
NOTHING HAPPEN YET, BUT NEED TO UPDATE AND ALERT ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT CAN BE DANGEROUS.THE NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 AND 2014 HAVE A NEW DESIGN FOR THE POWER STEERING PUMP(ELECTRONIC) THIS MADE A WHISPER SOUND INSIDE OF THE CABIN VERY HIGH , WHEN YOU DRIVE FROM 0-30 MILES. THIS CONTINUOUS SOUND IS IRRESISTIBLE AND MADE YOU UNCOMFORTED WHEN YOU DRIVE.THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND THE DECIBELS INSIDE OF CABIN IS TOO MUCH.ALSO MY AUTISTIC CHILD IS VERY SENSITIVE TO THIS SOUND AND REACT AGAIN.THAT CAN BE SO DANGEROUS BECAUSE THEY IRRITATED AGAIN THE SOUND(YOU CAN CONTROL) AND AFTER 30-35 IS GO.CAN YOU IMAGINE HAVE TO DRIVE ALL DAY ON THE CITY LIMITS. I SPOKE WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND THEY SAID IS NORMAL. CAN WE AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM THIS CAN MADE, CAN WE MADE THE NISSAN CREATE A RECALL AND TRY TO SOLVE THIS SITUATION WITH THE POWER STEERING SOUND INSIDE OF THE CABIN. THANKS *TR
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFROST SYSTEM PROBLEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER NOTICED A SEVERE DEFROSTING PROBLEM IN EARLY DECEMBER 2013. AFTER TWO SEPARATE INSPECTIONS, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM SHUT DOWN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED BELOW 35 DEGREE AND THAT WAS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED, AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. THE CONSUMERS WIFE HAD 2 NEAR MISSES, DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDOW. *JB
THE AIR BAG DEACTIVATED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE NISSAN DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND SAID THAT IT WAS FIXED. THE LIGHT CONTINUED ON AND OFF TO COME ON FOR THE NEXT 8 MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG .... JUST FINE WITH ONLY ONE ERROR CODE IN THE SYSTEM AND THAT WAS FROM THE FIRST TIME. THE CAR IS NOW HOME AND THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND OFF FOR PERIODS OF BETWEEN 5 MINUTES AND A FEW HOURS TWICE SINCE. IT CLEARLY IS NOT FIXED AND THEY HAD NO SUGGESTION FOR ME EXCEPT TO BRING IT BACK WHEN THE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR A LONG PERIOD (WHICH IT DOES NOT). SOME SERVICE HUH ? *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH INTERMITTENTLY STAYS ON, INDICATING THAT IT IS DISABLED, EVEN WITH A 150 LB ADULT SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2013. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN MANY TIMES. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO. THIS WAS AFTER WE HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. WHAT THEY DID FOR THE RECALL DID NOT WORK, SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER, BILL ROBERTSON NISSAN. THEY HAD THE CAR ALL DAY AND THEY SAID ALL THEY DID IS CHECK THE WIRE CONNECTIONS AND THEY WERE OK. NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SYSTEM ON THIS MODEL (AND OTHERS) BUT SO FAR THEY EITHER CAN'T OR WON'T DO WHAT IS NECESSARY TO FIX THIS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM AS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WON'T WORK IF THIS LIGHT IS ON.
THE HEADLIGHTS AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS ARE EXTREEMELY DIM ON THIS VEHICLE. SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT
CAR IS VIBRATING WHEN GOING 40 MPH. VIBRATION ALSO OCCURRING AFTER LONG DRIVES AND THEN COMING TO A STOP. CAR WILL SHAKE. IT IS NOT HAPPENING ALL THE TIME, BUT IS NERVE RACKING WHEN IT DOES. INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH THE KEY ID NOT BEING RECOGNIZED WHEN ENTERING THE CAR WHEN THE DOORS ARE LOCKED AND YOU PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DOOR HANDLE. OR WHEN GETTING INTO AN UNLOCKED CAR THE KEY IS NOT RECOGNIZED. LOCK THE DOORS AND AUTO START THE CAR BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB NOT STARTING THE CAR. HAPPENING ON BOTH KEY FOBS. HEADLIGHTS DURING LONG TRIP WERE DIMMING, THEN WOULD BRIGHTEN. THIS DURING A 6 HOUR DRIVE. GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED FROM 38.4 MPG TO 33.1 MPG HIGHWAY DRIVING. SAME ISSUE WITH AROUND TOWN ABOUT 5 MPG DROP. MILEAGE SEEMS TO DIFFER WHEN FILLING UP CAR. GOES FROM OVER 600+ MILES TO AROUND 580+ MILES. NOT SURE WHY WHEN YOU FILL IT ALL THE WAY UP THE MILEAGE IS NOT THE SAME. TIRE PRESSURE SEEMS TO DIFFER. NOT SURE THAT IS RELIABLE READING. *TR
MAKING A LEFT TURN WHEN I WAS ALMOST FINISH MY TURN WHEN I WAS STRUCK BY A MOTORCYCLE. THE MOTORCYCLE STRUCK THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR OF MY VEHICLE SPINNING MY VEHICLE AROUND. CAVING IN THE DOOR THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOY. MY PASSENGER LOST HIS EYE DO TO GLASS SHATTER IN HIS FACE AND EYE!!!! *TR
THERE IS A LOUD WHINING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD, DIRECTLY BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT. THE NOISE BECAME LOUDER WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED SLIGHTLY IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE NOISE CAME INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THE WHINING NOISE COMING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. HOWEVER; ALL 2013 ALTIMAS MAKE THIS NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THE SOURCE CAN EASILY BE IDENTIFIED BY POPPING THE HOOD AND LOOKING BEHIND A SMALL PIECE OF SOUND ABSORBING MATERIAL (WHICH OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T WORK). HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A "CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE NEW ELECTRIC STEERING AND ALL ALTIMAS MAKE THIS ANNOYING SOUND. *TR
PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WITH AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT WEIGHING APPROXIMATELY 150 LBS. THE YELLOW LIGHT (MIDDLE DASHBOARD) ALWAYS COMES ON WHEN CAR IS STARTED. IT USUALLY GOES OUT (AS IT SHOULD) AFTER ABOUT FIVE SECONDS. SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON -- SOMETIMES FOR 15 MINUTES OR MORE. IT SOMETIMES COMES ON AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR A WHILE. I SOMETIMES PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART AND IT USUALLY GOES OUT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT IT. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO SAID THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOME 2013 ALTIMAS FOR AIR BAG WEIGHT SENSOR PROBLEMS, BUT THAT OUR VIN # WASN'T INCLUDED. LOOKING ONLINE, IT LOOKS LIKE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN LIGHT IS ON, AIR BAGS WON'T DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. *TR
AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THE PERSON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WEIGHS BELOW 130 POUNDS. ACCORDING TO NISSAN THE SENSOR WILL NOT ACTIVATE IF THE PERSON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WEIGHS BELOW 130 POUNDS. THEREFORE IF WE WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WHICH REQUIRES AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, IT WILL NOT DEPLOY. MY PARTNER WEIGHS ABOUT 110 POUNDS. ACCORDING TO NISSAN THE NHTSA MANDATED THIS AND CAN NOT CHANGE THE SETTING. *TR
I NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON (INDICATING NO ONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT) WHEN AN ADULT WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND ALSO HEARD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. DEALER TOLD ME THAT A FIX WAS UNKNOWN AT THE TIME AND THAT I SHOULD WAIT FOR A RECALL NOTICE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE MANY MONTHS LATER. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND SOMETHING WAS ADJUSTED/FIXED PER THE DEALER BUT PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. I WAS TOLD THAT I PROBABLY WAS NOT SITTING IN THE SEAT CORRECTLY OR I WAS UNDER WEIGHT. NEITHER ARE TRUE. DEALER RETESTED AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE INDICATOR LIGHT. I DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WOULD DEPLOY IF I HAD AN ACCIDENT. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. I HEARD RECENTLY ON TV THAT OTHER PEOPLE LIKE ME WERE STILL COMPLAINING. RE: KEYLESS IGNITION SYSTEMS. THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR SO I DON'T KNOW VIN OR MILEAGE, OR EXACT YEAR. I RENTED A CAR LAST WEEK IN SAN DIEGO, MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH KEYLESS IGNITIONS. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ONE DAY AND WAS NOT USED TO THIS SYSTEM. LATE AT NIGHT I PARKED CAR, PUSHED THE IGNITION TO "OFF" STARTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, WHEN CAR STARTED DRIVING FORWARD BECAUSE I HAD FORGOTTEN TO PUT IT IN PARK. I WAS KNOCKED DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, IT WAS PITCH BLACK OUTSIDE, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING, UNTIL I SAW THE CAR DRIVING AWAY. I MANAGED TO CHASE THE CAR AND JUMP BACK INSIDE BEFORE IT HIT ANYTHING. HOWEVER, MY KNEE WAS TORN UP REALLY BAD, AND I AM STILL DEALING WITH THE INJURY MORE THAN A WEEK LATER. NOT HAVING ANY WARNING/SAFETY MEASURE TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK, COUPLED WITH A WHISPER QUIET ENGINE, IS A TOTALLY DANGEROUS COMBINATION, AND CLEARLY DEADLY FROM MANY ON LINE ACCOUNTS I HAVE READ. PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT INDICATES THAT AIRBAG REMAINS OFF WHILE PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. NISSAN DEALER TECH CLAIMS THAT THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM; JUST THE WAY THE SYSTEM WORKS. HE WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT. *TR
I WENT TO GAS STATION TO FILL MY LAWN MOWER GAS CAN. I THOUGHT I OPENED THE TRUNK WHERE THE CAN WAS STORED. IT DIDN'T OPEN SO I RE-CLICKED THE LATCH. TRUNK OPENED. GOT BACK ON THE ROAD, SMALL TOWN, NO TRAFFIC AND MY HOOD FLEW OPEN AND BACK AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. I MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY HIT THE HOOD LATCH THE 1ST TIME-NOT SURE BUT REGARDLESS, THE SECONDARY CATCH SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS AT 25 - 30 MPH. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON EXPRESSWAY? NO DAMAGE TO ME BUT $2100 DAMAGE TO CAR. I AM INSURED. THEY ARE REPLACING THE FENDERS WHERE THEY WERE TORQUED BACKWARD, THE HINGES WHERE SPRUNG, AND THE LATCH MECHANISM BECAUSE UNSURE WHY SECONDARY LATCH DID NOT HOLD. AFTER COUPLE OF MONTHS THEY RECEIVED NEW SENSORS AND THEY INSTALLED IT IN MY CAR. 2. AFTER INSTALLING NEW SENSOR I STARTED NOTICING ISSUES WITH AIRBAG AGAIN. MY WIFE WEIGHS ABOUT 110LBS-115LBS, I SEE 'PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF' LIGHT IS ON IN FOLLOWING SCENARIOS WITH MY WIFE IN PASSENGER SEAT WITH SEAT BELT FASTENED. A. MY ALTIMA ACTS AS IF THE ALIGNMENT IS OUT. AT ALL SPEEDS IT DRIFTS AND I USUALLY DRIVE 55-70 ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WILL DRIFT TO THE EXTREME RIGHT AND LEFT. I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO STEER LEFT AND RIGHT TO KEEP IT IN BETWEEN THE LINES OF THE DIRECTION I AM TRAVELING. I PURCHASED MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5 SL WITH ABOUT 18,000 MILES IN MAY OF 2013. THE CAR PERFORMED WELL IN THE BEGINNING. AT ABOUT 28773 MILES THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUTTER HESITATE AND NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. UPON INCLINES HILLS LOW SPEEDS, LOW RPM'S IT WAS ESPECIALLY NOTICABLE. I BROUGHT MY NISSAN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE CAR PERFORMED NORMALLY BUT THEN INTERMITTENTLY THE SAME PROBLEM THE SHUTTER, LACK OF SHIFTING PROPERLY THE HESTATION, JERKY STRONG VIBRATIONS, JUMPING OF RPM'S. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY AGAIN REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. IT WAS ROAD TESTED AND THEY RECCOMMENDED THE TRANSAXLE BE REPLACED FOR REPAIR. THIS WAS AT 55002 MILES. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE NEW TRANSMISSION WARRANTY WOULD BE 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES. MY CONCERN IS THE SAFETY FOR CONSUMERS. THE CAR DOESN'T PERFORM PROPERLY WITH THE EXISTING CVT TRANSMISSION THE BELT SLIPS AND THE CAR DOES NOT SHIFT OR IS STUCK IN EXCELARATION. IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE TRANSAXLE WAS REPLACED HOWEVER I WASN'T INFORMED THE EXISTING PROBLEM WAS FIXED CORRECTLY WITH THE NEW TRANSMISSION. I WAS INFORMED ABOUT A WARRANTY. WE PULLED IN TO A GAS STATION AND I REACHED DOWN IN THE DARK TO RELEASE THE FUEL DOOR. MY HUSBAND PUT GAS IN THE CAR AND WE HEADED FOR HOME. SUDDENLY, THE HOOD FLEW UP AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD COMPLETELY BLOCKING MY VIEW AND SCARING THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF US. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT HAVING AN ACCIDENT. WHEN WE GOT HOME, UPON INSPECTION, WE FOUND PRETTY EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE HOOD AND SIDE PANELS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO WORKS ON OUR CAR AND WAS GIVEN A VERY PRICEY ESTIMATE. I FEEL THAT THE SAFETY ON THE HOOD LOCK SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS FROM HAPPENING. I PICKED UP MY CAR ON THE 4TH DAY AND DROVE 2 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND ENCOUNTERED THE SAME JERKING AND SHUDDERING PROBLEM. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS GREETED BY A SERVICE MANAGER THAT INSISTED WE GO FOR A DRIVE TO SEE IF HE COULD EXPERIENCE WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. AFTER TAKING THE RIDE HE EXPLAINED THAT HE DID FEEL THE JERKING AND SHUDDERING BUT IT IS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. I AM NOT SURE BUT IT MAY BE AFFECTED BY WHETHER OF NOT HER SEAT BELT BUCKLE IS ENGAGED BEFORE OR AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED. WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED INDICATING THE AIR BAG IS NOT ACTIVATED. THIS ISSUES HAS OCCURRED SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THE 3500 & 7500 SERVICE INTERVALS. AT THE 3500 MILES SERVICE THE ACTION WAS VERIFIED THAT THE SENSOR WAS PROPERLY CALIBRATED & WORKING PROPERLY AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY THE LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON WHEN MY 138 LB SON WAS RIDING. ALTHOUGH THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY SINGLE TIME A PASSENGER IS RIDING, IT DOES OCCUR FREQUENTLY. AT THE 7500 MILE SERVICE I AGAIN NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP OF THE CONTINUING ISSUE. THE ISSUE WAS AGAIN VERIFIED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALERSHIPS RESPONSE WAS THAT THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO USING THE SPECIFIED COMPONENTS (SEAT CUSHION & SENSORS) THAT THE NHTSA REQUIRES MANUFACTURERS TO USE, LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS WITH GOVERNMENT SPECS AND NOT WITH NISSAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY DIM. HARD TO SEE MUCH FARTHER THAN THAN 20 FEET. HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS FOR SAFETY. VERY DANGEROUS HAVE REPLACED BULBS WITH LED AND HALOGEN AND HAVE HAD THEM ALIGNED. NO HELP. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
THE TOP OF THE PLASTIC DASHBOARD HAS A VERY SHINY STICKY OIL LIKE SUBSTANCE AT MIGRATES TO AND COATS THE SURFACE CAUSING AN EXTREME GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD IMPAIRING VISIBILITY. IN ADDITION, THIS SUBSTANCE OUTGASSES AND CONDENSES ON THE INSIDE SURFACE OF THE WINDSHIELD AS A MILKY HAZE WHICH FURTHER INCREASES THE IMPAIRED VISIBILITY. THIS CONDITION ALSO AFFECTS THE REAR DECK PLASTIC AS WELL. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT A DEFECTIVE BATCH OF PLASTICIZER, OR AN IMPROPER RATIO WAS USED DURING THE FABRICATION OF THE AFFECTED PARTS CAUSING EXCESSIVE MIGRATION OF THE PLASTICIZER TO THE SURFACE. THE MANUFACTURE IS AWARE OF AND ACKNOWLEDGES THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER, NO FIX OR SOLUTION IS FORTHCOMING. THIS CONDITION IS MOST PREVALENT ON AFFECTED PARTS USED IN HOT ENVIRONMENTS IE; FLORIDA AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE SUBSTANCE CAN NOT BE REMOVED BY CLEANING. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE THRU THE GLARE AND HAZE ON THE WINDSHIELD DURING SUNNY DAYS CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THE CAR WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER SWERVED TO MISS A DEER THAT HAD JUMPED OUT OF THE WOODS. THE CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD AND INTO SOME TREES AND A ROCK WALL. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS DAMAGED PRETTY EXTENSIVELY (TOTAL LOSS), WITH DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE FENDER AND A DIRECT IMPACT TO THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE PUSHING THE INTERIOR BUMPER APPROX. 10" BACK AND INTO THE RADIATOR. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THIS CRASH. WE HAD BEEN TOLD PREVIOUSLY THAT NISSAN HAD A RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAGS, AND WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER, NOTHING WAS DONE BECAUSE THEY RAN A REPORT STATING THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT DUE FOR THE RECALL. AFTER SHOWING THE DEALER PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE, THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT "THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, AND THAT "THEY BELIEVED THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE". I HAVE PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE, AND I ALSO HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF MY DAUGHTER SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON STATING THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF. THIS WAS SHOWN TO THE DEALER PRIOR TO THE CRASH, AND STILL NOTHING WAS DONE TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE FURTHER. WHEN I SHOWED THE GM OF THE DEALERSHIP THE VIDEO, AND TOLD HIM THAT NOTHING WAS DONE TO REPAIR IT, HIS RESPONSE WAS "GOD FORBID THAT ANYONE OF US GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY'!! A FEW WEEKS LATER....THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. I BELIEVE THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEMS OF THESE CARS, AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED DURING A CRASH. *TR
