NISSAN SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL! I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA (LESS THAN 2 MONTHS OLD) AND I WAS AT A DRIVE THRU WAITING FOR MY FOOD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. THE CRACK IS VERY LARGE AND IT'S ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD BY THE PASSENGER SEAT. NOTHING EVEN HIT THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE IT TO CRACK AND I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE CAR AT THE TIME THIS OCCURRED TO CONFIRM THAT. I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD OF A CAR I JUST BOUGHT LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO. I'M ACTUALLY SCARED TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THE SAME THING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. IF YOU GOOGLE "ALTIMA WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON" YOU WILL SEE THAT THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM ALTIMA OWNERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEAR. HOWEVER, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO RESOLVE IT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS CAUSING EXTRA STRESS ON THE WINDOW. AFTER OWNING MY VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN A MONTH , AN INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS NOW DEACTIVATED EVEN THOUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED BY AN ADULT . AFTER THE VEHICLE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE LIGHT DISAPPEARED . A FEW DAYS LATER THE LIGHT ONCE AGAIN CAME ON TO INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF WITH AN ADULT IN THE SEAT . I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED ... AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY THE PERSON " NOT SITTING IN THE SEAT CORRECTLY " AND PROCEEDED TO SHOW ME HOW A PASSENGER SHOULD SIT IN THE SEAT ! I EXPLAINED THAT ONCE IT WAS ON , THE LIGHT NEVER WENT BACK OFF NO MATTER HOW THE PASSENGER SAT .THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO WARN THAT THERE WAS NO ACTIVE AIRBAG ! AFTER THE DEALER INVESTIGATED THEY SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE SENSORS . THEY SAID THAT" THE SENSORS TAKE A WHILE TO ADJUST " . I INQUIRED AS TO WHY NISSAN HAD JUST RECALLED THE 2013 ALTIMAS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ( RECALL 13V069000 )... BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED ON NEW VEHICLES LIKE MINE . THIS AIR BAG DEACTIVATED LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND STAY ON RANDOMLY TO THIS DATE . THE DEALER SAYS THE ONLY WAY TO DIAGNOSE IT CORRECTLY IS TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN WHILE THE AIRBAG LIGHT OFF IS ILLUMINATED . NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS IS DIFFICULT TO DO .IT IS GOING BACK IN FOR THIS PROBLEM NEXT WEEK . AT THIS POINT I AM UNSURE WHETHER OR NOT I TRULY DO HAVE ACTIVE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS ... I DON'T WANT TO HAVE THAT ANSWERED WHEN IT IS TOO LATE ! SEARCH THE INTERNET ( ALTIMA FORUMS ) AND YOU WILL SEE A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, AS WELL AS THE SAME HOLLOW EXPLANATION ! *TR
SPORADICALLY WHEN STARTING CAR (FROM A COLD START OR AFTER 2 HOURS) THE RPMS WILL DO THE NORMAL GOING UP THEN SLOWLY DOWN AND THEN LOWER ONCE IN GEAR; HOWEVER, ONCE STARTED TO DRIVE AND STOP THE CAR WILL SHAKE AND APPEAR TO BE TRYING TO CHOKE....TOOK TO SERVICE DEPT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NOTHING IS IN THE LOG.....TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHILE PROBLEM OCCURRING THE MECHANIC FELT THE SHAKING AND THE BIG BUMP AND SAID THE IDLE RPMS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED TO HIGHER LEVEL WITHIN 36 HOURS THE CAR WOULD DO THE SAME SPORADIC PROBLEM JUST AT A HIGHER RPM......TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN LEFT OVERNIGHT THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM STATED EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND THE SALESPERSON DEMO SUPPOSEDLY DOES THE SAME THING (WHICH IT STARTED NORMAL). *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON WITH FRONT PASSENGER (MORE THAN 115LB). WENT TROUGH THE RECALL (13V069000 )WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR IN PASSENGER SEAT. IT DIDN'T HELP AND AT DEALERSHIP I AM TOLD THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW 2013 ALTIMA FOR ALMOST 40,000 AND SINCE THE BEGINNING THE CAR AIR BAGS HAS WORKED ONLY IF YOU ARE SITTING ON YOUR SEAT BEFORE YOU START THE CAR. BIG SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE WE NOTICED ONCE ON THE FREEWAY WHEN HE HAD TO BRAKE HARD THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE OFF , I COULD HAVE DIED. HAD NISSAN ENGINHEER TEST IT AND THEY TOLD ME I JUST NEED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AFTER A NEW PERSON BOARDS THE CAR, RIDICULOUS. I NEED HELP AD NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR SAVE YOURSELF! TOLD THEM WE DID NOT PURCHASE A CAR WITH A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM LIKE THIS AND NISSAN WONT FIX THIS. IT HAS BEEN 4 YEARS NOW. WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 2 TO 25 MPH HEAR LOUD HIGH PITCH WHINING SOUND FROM ENGINE. THIS STARTED AFTER ABOUT 200 MILES ON VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAD 51 MILES ON IT WHEN PURCHASED. DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL IT IS THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. THE WHINING NOISE IS VERY DISTURBING AND DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. SUCH NOISE IS NOT NORMAL. NISSAN NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A FIX. I PURCHASED A 2013 NISSAN FROM BILL SEIDLE'S NISSAN IN MIAMI FLORIDA. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR THEY TOLD ME THE MILEAGE WAS AROUND 30 MPG WITH AN AVERAGE OF AROUND 26 MPG. MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I MENTIONED TO THE DEALER THAT THE CAR'S COMPUTER WAS SAYING AROUND 20 MPG AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED IT TO TRACK THE MPG MYSELF BECAUSE THE COMPUTER FROM THE CAR IS NOT ACCURATE. I TRACKED THE MILES AND THE RESULTS WERE 20 MPG. I TOOK THAT CAR IN TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT IS THE MILEAGE THAT I WAS GOING TO GET. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC KEY THAT ON MULTIPLE TIMES "NO KEY DETECTED" MESSAGE COMES UP AND IT TAKES ME A WHILE FOR THE CAR TO START. EVENTUALLY IT TURNED OUT THE BATTERY WAS NOT GOOD AND IT WAS CHANGED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS PROBLEMS CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE CARS TURNS ON THE MESSAGE STAYS ON FOR A WHILE. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR ALL THE TIME THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY. I NOW TAKE PICTURES WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS AND ARE TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER. I'M CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR. *TR
SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THEY TRIED TO REPAIR IT MORE THAN 3 TIMES BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. AND THE CASE IS BEING DRAGGED ON (THE MANUFACTURER IS TAKING ADVANTAGE SINCE EVEN THE MILEAGE IS ADDING UP ALL THIS TIME) WITHOUT A PROPER SOLUTION AND THEY(MANUFACTURER) SEEM TO DISREGARD THE FATAL NATURE OF A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FLOOR MAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WOULD REMAIN LOCKED UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THE LOCKED POSITION, THE RPMS WOULD HAVE TO BE HIGH ABOVE 1,000, WHICH THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NORMAL IDLE WAS 750. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE ALSO PREMATURELY WEARING DUE TO THE ENGINE NOT ASSISTING IN DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
SUMMARY: THE VEHICLE BLIND SPOT WARNING & LANE KEEP SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING. THE WARNING ON THE DASH SAYS TO CLEAN THE CAMERA LENS BUT THE LENS ARE CLEAN. IF YOU STOP THE CAR & SHUT OFF THE ENGINE THEN RESTART THE SYSTEM WILL START OPERATING AGAIN. NISSAN CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR

MY CAR WONDERS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT REQUIRES CONSTANT AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE MY ALIGNMENT CHECKED AT EVERY 5000 MILES. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ALTIMA'S DRIFTING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DURING WINDY CONDITIONS IT CAN DRIFT INTO OTHER LANES. I COMPLAINED BEFORE AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND I DID. THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL.

2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SV; PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES, REPRESENTING THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF, WHEN A PASSENGER WEIGHING 118 LBS IS PRESENT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME REPORTING ISSUE TO NISSAN. TO REPEAT ISSUE, PARK&STOP CAR ON HILL WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR ON THE DOWNHILL SIDE OF SLOPE. HAVE PASSENGER SEATED AND BUCKLED INTO SEAT PRIOR TO STARTING CAR. LIGHT WILL STAY ILLUMINATED UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF, PASSENGER EXITS CAR, CAR IS TURNED ON AND LIGHT GOES OFF. IN ADDITION, THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. INCIDENTS CAPTURED VIA VIDEO AND AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING. INCIDENT REPORTED TO NISSAN AFTER TAKING TO DEALER 4 TIMES WITHOUT RESOLUTION. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE ALTIMA. THEREFORE, THE AIR BAG TURNED OFF WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM A 5'7" ADULT FEMALE WEIGHING AROUND 140 LBS. I CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICES TODAY AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I NOTICED ONLINE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA'S, SO WHY NOT THIS ONE? IS THIS AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED? I GOT NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 IN SEP. 2012 AND SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN TAKING THIS CAR EVERY MONTH TO DEALERSHIP FOR AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR, WHICH REMAINS LIT EVEN WHEN PASSENGER IS SEATED WITH SEAT BELT ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER RANGED FROM 130 TO 180 POUNDS. THE MOST SERIOUS OF THESE INCIDENTS WAS, WHEN I DROVE MY CAR FOR 15 MILES (2 MILES ON CITY STREET AND 13 MILES ON FREEWAY). SO FAR, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES, THEY WOULD RESET SOME SENSORS BUT IT HASN'T MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. I WAS TOLD IT COULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE OF THE WAY PASSENGER WAS SITTING, SO ONE TIME I ASKED PASSENGER TO JUMP ON THE SEAT, THAT 180LB PASSENGER WAS JUMPING IN THE SEAT BUT THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT STILL REMAINED ON. I NOTICED THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND I HOPE THESE COMPLAINTS WILL EVENTUALLY GET DESIRED RECALL ATTENTION. *TR

THEY FIX MY PASSAGER AIRBAG BUT MY DRIVER SIDE CAME ON. AND MY CAR ENGINE SOUND LOUD WENT U DRIVE IT. SOUND LIKE A MUFFLER SOUND BUT I DON'T HAVE A HOLD ON IT.
I HAD PURCHASED A NEW 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA FROM BOMMARITO NISSAN ON 11/6/2012 MY CAR ONLY HAD 252 MILES ON IT. WHEN I HAD TAKEN THE ACRE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A OIL CHANGE THAT'S WHEN I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO ORDER PARTS FOR MY CAR FOR THE FUEL RATIO SENSOR AND ECU WITH NEW UPDATES SINCE THIS WAS MADE THE CAR HAS BEING RUNNING HORRIBLE AND WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THEY STATED THAT THE CAR HAS ALL THE UPDATES AND THIS IS HOW IT SUPPOSED TO RUN SO THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONCERN. I DID RESEARCH AND SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO PAY FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THIS CAR IS CARP AND IF I WANTED A USED CAR I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ONE WITHOUT ANY POWER BECAUSE THE CAR SEEM TO LOOSE POWER YOU HAVE TO TURN OFF AIR TO GET SPEED AND PUNCH YOUR FOOT INTO THE FLOOR TO GET POWER AND ITS IDLED TO HIGH AS IF IT IS NOT GETIN ANY GAS I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE TO LOOKED INTO BECAUSE THERE IS A PROBLEM ON HAND AND OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN IS NOT WANTING TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. *TR

MY CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS AT 900-MILES TOOK TO DEALER WILKES NISSAN IN WILKESBORO,NC LIKE 8-TIMES AND 2-TIMES TO ANOTHER.CVT WOULD SHUDDER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.WILKES NISSAN SAID THAT WAS NORMAL IN ONE SENTENCE,THEN IN THE NEXT SAY THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE.AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET IT FIXED THE SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] WAS WALKING OUT IN THE SERVICE BAY AND WAS TELLING ME AS MY GIRLFRIEND WAS HEARING THIS THAT "NISSAN KNOWS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM,BUT DOESN'T HAVE A FIX FOR THIS AND THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER LET THAT OUT OF THE FACTORY LIKE THAT" WHILE HE WAS SAYING THIS A EMPLOYEE HAD WALKED BY AND OVERHEARD THIS.AND HE WAS SHORTLY FIRED AFTERWARDS?THEY TOOK MY CAR IN AND HAD IT FOR LIKE 2-DAYS AND PUT A 124-MILES ON MY CAR,I HAD EXPLAINED THAT HE DIDN'T NEED TO DO THAT JUST TAKE OFF GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SLOW DOWN THEN TAKE OFF,IT WILL START TO SHUDDER.I CAME DOWN AND GOT THE SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] AND THE TECH RODE WITH ME AND I GOT IT TO SHUDDER INSIDE OF 15-MINUTES WITH THEM WITH ME.WE GOT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WITHIN 15-MINUTES [XXX] SERVICE MANGER SAID "WE JUST GOT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN IN OCTOBER 2013 IN WHICH WAS A LIE.I FOUND OUT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED ON JUNE 13TH 2013 FOR A "CVT CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT SHUDDER" & [XXX] LOOKED MAD WHEN WE GOT BACK FROM THE TEST DRIVE.THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND HAD MY CAR FOR 16-DAYS,WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK UP THE CAR,THE WILKES NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND WITHIN 11-MILES THEY CAR STARTED SHUDDERING AGAIN AT SLOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS HIGHWAY SPEEDS.I WAS GOT SO SICK FROM ALL THE ARGUING THAT I WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL IN DECEMBER 2013 FOR 5-DAYS.I HAD THE PROBLEM AND WAS SICK FOR MONTHS SO WHEN I STARTED TO FEEL BETTER.I TOOK THE CAR DOWN TO WILKES AND THEY SAID NISSAN REFUSED TO WORK ON MY CAR EVEN THOUGH UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE T BE REPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIRBAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS INDICATING THE AIR BAG WAS OFF WHEN A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
I GOT NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 IN DEC 2012 AND SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN TAKING THIS CAR EVERY MONTH TO DEALERSHIP FOR AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR, WHICH REMAINS LIT EVEN WHEN PASSENGER IS SEATED WITH SEAT BELT ON. THIS WITH HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER RANGED FROM 130 TO 180 POUNDS. THE MOST SERIOUS OF THESE INCIDENTS WAS, WHEN I DROVE MY CAR FOR 15 MILES (2 MILES ON CITY STREET AND 13 MILES ON FREEWAY). SO FAR, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES, THEY WOULD RESET SOME SENSORS BUT IT HASN'T MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. I WAS TOLD IT COULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE OF THE WAY PASSENGER WAS SITTING, SO ONE TIME I ASKED PASSENGER TO JUMP ON THE SEAT, THAT 180LB PASSENGER WAS JUMPING IN THE SEAT BUT THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT STILL REMAINED ON. I NOTICED THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND I HOPE THESE COMPLAINTS WILL EVENTUALLY GET DESIRED ATTENTION. *TR
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON CONTINUOUSLY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, HE FOUND IT WAS CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT THAT DETERMINED WHETHER THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED BY AN ADULT OR A CHILD. THE CONSUMER INSTALLED SPACERS BETWEEN THE PASSENGER SEAT RAILS AND THE SEAT IN ORDER TO RAISE THE SEAT BY ONE INCH. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT ALTERING THE VEHICLE VOIDED THE WARRANTY COVERING THE FAULTY SENSOR. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE CHANGES HE MADE RESULTED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT STILL BEING MORE FIRMLY ANCHORED TO THE FLOOR PAN OF THE VEHICLE THAN THE POWER SEAT THAT SAT BESIDE IT. AS FAR AS THE SENSOR WAS CONCERNED, IT COULD NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SEATS ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION AND THE ALTERATIONS THAT HE MADE. THE CONSUMER ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER IF HE RESTORED THE SEAT TO ITS ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION, WOULD IT BE CONSIDERED UN-ALTERED; HE SAID NO. THE VERY FACT THAT HE REMOVED THE SEAT CONSTITUTED ALTERING IT.
PASSENGER PRESENCE DETECTION SYSTEM FAILED TO RECOGNIZE A PASSENGER AND ENABLE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG APPROXIMATELY 30% OF THE TIME. DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE CONTROLLER. SAME ERROR OCCURRED 2 MONTHS LATER. DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE CONTROLLER AND ADVISED AGAINST PLACING ANYTHING OVER ABOUT 10 LBS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AS THIS WOULD CORRUPT THE PRESENCE DETECTION ALGORITHM. BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T OFFER ANY ASSURANCE THAT THE SYSTEM WOULDN'T FAIL AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
WOKE UP YESTERDAY TO A WEAK BATTERY NO START STEERING WONT LOCK.SO IT HAS TO BE TOWED CVT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ALREADY ,IT WAS REPLACED ,AIR BAG FOR [PASSENGER} SOMETIMES WORKS ITS THE 2ND NEW CAR I EVER OWNED AND IM 54 YEARS OLD IM SO DISAPPOINTED AT THIS CAR IT MUST HAVE BEEN BUILT ON A FRIDAY.
THE VEHICLE BLIND SPOT WARNING & LANE KEEP SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING. THE WARNING ON THE DASH SAYS TO CLEAN THE CAMERA LENS BUT THE LENS ARE CLEAN. IF YOU STOP THE CAR & SHUT OFF THE ENGINE THEN RESTART THE SYSTEM WILL START OPERATING AGAIN. NISSAN CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
2013 ALTIMA PASSENGER SEAT BELT INDICATOR LAMP DOES NOT COME ON, OR LATER TURN OFF, WHEN THE CAR IS ALREADY RUNNING / STILL RUNNING AND PASSENGER SITS IN FRONT SEAT OR EXITS THE VEHICLE. AFTER DEALERSHIP HAD REPLACED THE VEHICLE ODS (UNDER RECALL). I HAVE HAD TO EITHER SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT WHILE THE PASSENGER IS ALREADY SEATED, OR WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES WHILE DRIVING BEFORE THE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE (WHILE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS NOT ENGAGED (WORN). I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM AND A FIELD TECHNICIAN FROM NISSAN (U.S.) LOOK AT THE ISSUE, THEY WERE ABLE TO RE-CREATE, AS WELL AS NOT GET IT TO FAIL. CURRENTLY THEY ARE SAYING IT IS NORMAL FOR THE LAMP TO NOT COME ON OR GO OFF FOR UP TO 7 SECONDS (IN USER MANUAL) WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND PASSENGER ENTERS OR EXITS THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TOLD THEM THIS WAS NOT LIKE THIS BEFORE THE LAST ODS REPLACEMENT (THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THEY HAVE MADE THE RECALL "FIX"). AFTER PICKING THE VEHICLE UP I DROVE HOME, LEFT CAR RUNNING AND HAD MY WIFE RECREATE THE ISSUE, I HAD VIDEO RUNNING SO I COULD CAPTURE THE EVENT AND AMOUNT OF TIME IT TAKES AND WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO GET THE SEAT TO RECOGNIZE IT IS OCCUPIED, OR NOT. I CALLED DEALERSHIP WHILE I WAS MAKING THE VIDEO AND REPORTED WHAT WAS OCCURRING AGAIN. I AM SUPPOSED TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO THEM LATER THIS WEEK. *TR

I CALLED THE NISSAN CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD TO SIMPLY TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP.I DON'T HAVE ALL DAY TO BE RUNNING AROUND TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE TO FIX MY CAR. I DID NOT BUY MY CAR AT HERITAGE NISSAN ( BET YOU CAN'T GUESS WHY) BUT IT IS CLOSER TO MY HOUSE. NISSAN RECOMMENDED PYE NISSAN IN DALTON. I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE AN HOUR FROM THERE TO HAVE IT FIXED. PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED WHILE ADULT PASSENGER IS SEATED DURING REGULAR DRIVING. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. SOMETIMES IT IS ILLUMINATED WHILE AN ADULT PASSENGER IS RIDING AND SOMETIMES NOT. MY CAR DOES NOT FALL IN THE RECENT RECALL BATCH FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
WELL I HAVE DROPPED MY CAR OFF FOR THE 5TH TIME FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SENSOR, BUT COULD NOT GET IT TO RESET, SO THEY HAD TO ORDER ANOTHER SENSOR AND MY CAR SAT FOR 3 EXTRA DAYS BUT THEY INSTALLED THEM AND I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK ON JULY 5TH AND ON JULY 6TH THE LIGHT SHOWING MY PASSENGER AIRBAG IS OFF WAS ON WHILE AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. IHAVE TRIED TO HAVE NISSAN PURCHASE THE CAR BACK BUT LL THEY TELL ME IS THAT THEY DO NOT INTERPRET THAT MY CAR FALLS UNDER THE LEMON LAW BUT IN MY STATE IT IS IF I HAVE A PROBLEM REPAIRED 3 OR MORE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING, OR A SAFETY ISSUE BEING REPAIRED ONCE AND IT IS STILL OCCURRING THEN IT WILL FALL UNDER IT, SO NOW I HAVE TO GO AND SPEND MORE TIME AND MONEY ON A LAWYER. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. IT IS ALSO OCCURRING IN THE NEW ROGUES. I HAVE HAD 2 SEPARATE ROGUE LOANER CARS AND THEY BOTH TOO HAVE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG TURN OFF WHILE AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. FIRST AND FOREMOST, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE SINCE THE AIR BAG LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER HAS NEVER WORKED. MORE THAN 6 TIMES THE DEALER HAS TRIED TO FIX TO NO AVAIL. I WONT LET PASSENGERS SIT IN THE FRONT FOR THEIR SAFETY. I ALWAYS HAVE THEM SIT IN THE BACK. IT LOOKS LIKE I AM THEIR EMPLOYEE/DRIVER. ALSO A HUGE PROBLEM IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION. IT SHUDDERS, GRUMBLES AND THE WHOLE CAR VIBRATES INTERMITTENTLY. FIRST THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND REPLACED IT, THAT DIDNT FIX IT SO THEY SAID IT WAS A BOLT, THAT WASNT IT, FINALLY THEY JUST GAVE UP AND SAID THEY DONT KNOW AND "THEY CANT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM" ITS ALL A SCAM. THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,300.
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT HAS BEEN ON 9 TIMES WHILE WITH 140 TO 200 LB PASSENGER SEATED. NOTIFIED NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS PROBLEM AS NO CODE WOULD BE GENERATED THEREFORE IT WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE LIGHT ON FOR THEM TO TROUBLESHOOT. AND I KNOW THE LIGHT WON'T STAY ON LONG ENOUGH FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. ALSO I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT UP FOR RECALL. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE ENTIRELY INADEQUATE TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT LIGHTING INTENSITY AND DISTANCE. THE LIGHTS BARELY ILLUMINATE ABOUT 2 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD, WHICH IS TOO SHORT A DISTANCE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 25-30MPH, MAKING HIGHWAY TRAVEL AT NIGHT VERY DANGEROUS. OBJECTS IN THE PATH OF TRAVEL AND ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ARE NOT VISIBLE IN TIME TO SAFELY RESPOND. STREET SIGNS AND TURNS ARE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY IF THEY ARE NOT NEAR STREET LIGHTS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE BUYING THE CAR. CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO SOLUTION FOR IT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,200. UPDATED 9/24/13*CN THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, HE NOTICED A LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, HE WAS ADVISED BY THE SALESPERSON, THAT HIS WIFE SHOULD JUMP UP AND DOWN ON THE SEAT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON JULY 3, 2013, THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE COMPUTER DID NOT INDICATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM, AND SINCE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD A FEW HUNDRED MILES, IT SHOULD BE OK. ON JULY 13, 2013, THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CONSUMER INFORMED THEM, THE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CONSUMER INSISTED THAT THE PROPER REPAIR BE MADE, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT REMOVING THE SEAT AND CHANGING THE SENSOR COULD NOT BE ACCOMPLISHED AT HIS REQUEST AND UNDER NO CONDITION WOULD THE REPAIR BE IMPLEMENTED WITHOUT A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN.

SO I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF SWITCH TURNS ON WHILE AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIRS 4 SEPARATE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THEY PERFORMED A "ZERO POINT" RESET. A FEW DAYS WENT BY AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK 2 TIMES AFTER THAT AND THEY KEPT SAYING THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I HAVE VIDEO OF IT ON MY PHONE. SO I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT THEY WOULD SAY ABOUT IT AND THE MANY OTHER PROBLEMS I AM EXPERIENCING. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 10 DAYS. I PERSONALLY SPOKE AND TEST DROVE WITH THE TECHNICIAN AND HE TOLD ME HE PERFORMED THE ZERO POINT RESET AGAIN. BUT WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE PAPERWORK ONLY STATES THAT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND NO WORK WAS PERFORMED. BUT LAST NIGHT THE SAME NIGHT I PICKED IT UP IT DID IT AGAIN AND AGAIN I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF IT SWITCHING OFF WHILE SITTING IN IT AND DRIVING. THE LIGHT THAT INDICATES MY PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IS COMING ON WHEN A NORMAL SIZED ADULT IS IN THE FRONT SEAT. APPARENTLY, THIS IS TIED TO A SENSOR WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO DISABLE THE AIR BAG IF SOMEONE HAS A SMALL CHILD (BETWEEN 30 LBS AND 80 LBS) IN THE FRONT SEAT DUE TO THE INCREASED RISK OF INJURY WITH AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR, IT HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 10% OF THE TIME I HAD AN ADULT IN THE FRONT SEAT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE INTO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE. ONCE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS INSPECTED WITH NO ISSUES FOUND. AND THE SECOND TIME, THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A RE-PROGRAMMING OF THE COMPUTER ACCORDING TO A TSB FROM NISSAN THAT THEY HAD ON FILE. SINCE THE RE-PROGRAMMING WAS DONE, THE FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED TO ROUGHLY 30% OF THE TIME AN ADULT IS IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE SIZE OF THE PASSENGER IS IRRELEVANT. IT HAPPENS EQUALLY OFTEN WHEN MY 135 LB WIFE IS IN THE FRONT SEAT AS IT DOES WHEN MY DAD OR FATHER-IN-LAW (BOTH ROUGHLY 180 LBS - 200 LBS) ARE IN THE FRONT SEAT. I LOVE THE CAR, BUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE PREVIOUS RECALL/TSB HAS NOT RESOLVED OR EVEN IMPROVED THE ISSUE. IT ACTUALLY MADE IT WORSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, HE HEARD A WINDING NOISE. AFTER OPENING THE HOOD, HE HEARD A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200.
ALTIMA 2.5L ENG. ENGINE VIBRATIONS/CVT SHUTTERING STARTED APPROX. 3600 MILES BUT HAS CONTINUALLY GOTTEN WORSE WITH MORE MILES (7000 MI 12/31/13). VIBRATIONS FELT AT 1500-2000 RPM (ENOUGH TO SHAKE THE DASH COMPONENTS), THEN VIBRATION GOES AWAY. SLIGHT ACCELERATION UNDER LOAD AT 1500-2000 RPM AND AT ANY SPEED (20-30, 40-55, 72 MPH) WILL RESULT IN VIBRATIONS (EVERYTIME). HAD NISSAN SERVICE WRITER RIDE WITH ME, THEN HE DROVE THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THE VIBRATIONS. SAID TO RETURN NEXT WEEK JAN 2014 TO FURTHER DOCUMENT. GUESS WHAT, HE SAID THEY HAVEN'T HAD THIS PROBLEM??? HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO NISSAN MANY TIMES OVER THIS PAST YEAR. I NOW BELIEVE THIS VIBRATION IS COMING FROM THE ENG NOT FROM THE CVT SINCE I CAN FEEL THE VIBRATIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED (IN PARK OR IN NEUTRAL). NISSAN HAS AN ENGINEERING DESIGN PROBLEM THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE AND FAIL TO ADMIT.
