MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 27,500 MILES. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO I BEGAN HAVING A HARD TIME KEEPING THE CAR IN MY LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE CAR WAS PULLING HARD TO THE LEFT, REQUIRING ME TO STEER TO THE RIGHT (APPROXIMATELY TO A 1 O'CLOCK POSITION). I BELIEVED THIS TO BE AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE AND HAD A LARGE CHAIN REPAIR SHOP COMPLETE AN ALIGNMENT. THE STEERING ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND THEY HAD FIXED THE ISSUES WITH AN ALIGNMENT (I HAVE NOT PAID $250 IN ALIGNMENT CHARGES). AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING IT, THE CAR IS STILL PULLING TO THE LEFT. I HAVE TRIED DRIVING IN ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC AND BEEN SENSITIVE TO THE GRADE OF THE ROAD...HOWEVER, MY CAR WILL PULL TO THE LEFT IN ANY SITUATION. IN MOST CASES, IT TAKES QUITE A BIT OF PRESSURE STEERING TO THE RIGHT, TO KEEP THE CAR DRIVING STRAIGHT-AHEAD. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ADVISE THEM THE REPAIR WAS NOT CORRECT, THEY SAID THEY HAD TWO TECHS DRIVE IT AND IT WAS FINE - I WOULD NEED TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DRIVE THE CAR WITH THEM TO DIAGNOSE. I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO SPEND ADDITIONAL TIME WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO FIND A REPAIR FOR MY VEHICLE. I MADE A REPORT WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER AFFAIRS. IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH NISSAN, THESE ARE THE STEPS THAT ARE NEEDED TO GET A SOLUTION TO ANY SAFETY ISSUES.
I PURCHASED A USED 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA THE END OF APRIL 2015 FROM ENTERPRISE CAR SALES. I WAS TOLD THEY DID SUCH A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES THAT THE CAR WAS IN GREAT CONDITION. IN OCTOBER 2015, WITH APPROXIMATELY, 61,000 MILES ON THE NISSAN, IT STARTED RANDOMLY HESITATING. I WOULD PUSH THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS PULLING OUT FROM AN INTERSECTION AND I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE!! I BARELY MADE IT HOME. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION, $3400 AND THAT THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND FILED A CLAIM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER ABOUT 5 OR 6 DAYS, I RECEIVED A CALL BACK AND WAS TOLD NO, THEY WOULD NOT COVER OR HELP PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I ASKED IF THEY WERE AWARE OF ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THE REP SAID THEY HAD PROBLEMS ON PREVIOUS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLES BUT NOT ON THE 2014(S). OBVIOUSLY, THERE ARE STILL PROBLEMS!!! A 2014 VEHICLE SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION!!!
FULL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 48,000 MILES.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA S WITH 48,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR FOUR MONTHS I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. I PURCHASED THE STUFF FOR FUEL THAT YOU USE TO INCREASE THE OCTANE IN THE TANK AND FILLED UP THE TANK. THE CAR DROVE OK FOR A DAY OR TWO, THEN IT STARTED WITH THE FOLLOWING. WHEN I DEPRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AT A STOP LIGHT, IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO PULL OFF. AT THAT TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOOKED AT THE OWNERS MANUAL AND IT STATED IT WAS A FUEL EMISSION ISSUE. FILL THE TANK WITH HIGH OCTANE GAS AND THE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT IN A FEW TRIPS. THE ISSUE CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AS I WAS DRIVING SAT, 10/10/15. I WENT FROM PULLING OFF SLOWLY, TO WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR IT WOULDN'T GO AT ALL UNTIL I KEPT PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, THEN DRIVE, THEN PARK, THEN DRIVE MANY TIMES UNTIL IT DECIDED TO DRIVE. AT THAT POINT I DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR HOME CAUSE THE ISSUE WAS GETTING WORSE. ONLY I NEVER MADE IT HOME THE CAR SUDDENLY DECIDED IT WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 35 IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WAS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT JUST SLOWED DOWN IMMEDIATELY AND MADE THIS LOUD WHINING NOISE. HAD I NOT BEEN IN AN AREA WHERE I COULD PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY MY 72 YEAR MOTHER AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN TOAST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAL ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 27 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK, ARM, HIP, AND LEG INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FRONT PASSENGER ALSO SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BMS TOWING AND RECOVERY COLLISION CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000...UPDATED 02/01/16 *BF UPDATED 02/18/16 *LJ *JS *JS
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IS NOT PROPERLY SENSING THE WEIGHT. THE "AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT IS ON WHEN AN ADULT OVER THE WEIGHT LIMIT SITS IN THE SEAT. PLUS, A CHILD UNDER THE WEIGHT LIMIT, THE "AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT IS OFF. IN SHORT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IS NOT PROPERLY DETECTING THE CORRECT WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER.
AIR BAGS DID DEPLOY IN THIS IN VEHICLE AFTER BEING HIT HEAD-ON AND THEN FROM THE REAR. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE DRIVER (MY DUUGTER'S HEAD HIT THE WINDSHEILD)

IN ADDITION, THE SEAT BELT INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER A PASSENGER EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,854.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED, THE AIR BAG OFF WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR TURNED OFF WHEN A PASSENGER OCCUPIED THE SEAT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE AIR BAG WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW SENSOR BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED NECK AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE OTHER DRIVER ALSO SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HOSE (FLEX LINE) FAILED DUE TO RUBBING ON THE TIRE. TOTAL LOSS OF FRONT BRAKES... ROOT CAUSE-- HOSE HOLD DOWN CAME LOOSE...
STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AROUND 50,000 MILES BUT NISSAN REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING SAYING NOTHING WAS WRONG, MECHANICS AT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS SAID THERE WAS DEFINITELY PROBLEMS WITH IT, AT 83,00 FILED COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN, NOTHING WAS DONE IN DEC 2016 THEY DID A REPROGRAM ON TRANSMISSION WORKED SOME BETTER NOW AT 136,000 MILES TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY GONE...THANKS NISSAN FOR NOTHING.
STARTED MY CAR BACKED OUT THE DRIVEWAY AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL. IT WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON 8/27/2015 AT 13:00. THE DEALER CALLED ME AT 10:00 AM ON 8/28/2015 TO INFORM ME THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE BRAKE HOSE HAD "BROKE, FELL OFF OR RUSTED OFF" ITS A 2014. ITS A YEAR OLD. THAT IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED UNTIL MONDAY 8/31/2015 14:09. PARTS BILLED WAS 46206-2J00A SPRING LOCK BRACKET, 46211-3TA0A BRAKE HOSE REAR, 46237-A4600 GASKET-BRAKE HO, AND 99MP-A4100P BRAKE FLUID. THIS REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED AND I PAID FOR IT AND OF COURSE FOR 3 DAYS OF A RENTAL CAR.
I HAVE A LEASED 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT ON 2 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. THE LAST TIME WAS 08/21/15, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR I COULD NOT MAINTAIN SAFE DRIVING SPEED AND HAD TO PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR TWICE. THE LIGHT STAYED ON BUT THE CAR RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT EARLY TO BAY RIDGE NISSAN DEALER THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THERE WAS A PASS CODE THAT SHOWED UP BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE CODE MEANT OTHER THAN THERE WAS AN ALERT FROM THE CAR. THE COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR SAY WHY THE ISSUE HAD HAPPENED OR GIVE ANY GUARANTEES THAT IT WOULD NOT OCCUR AGAIN WHICH IS A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION BUT PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME $260 FOR DIAGNOSTICS ON A NEW CAR I LEASED THAT HAS WARRANTY.
THE NAVIGATION / RADIO SYSTEM REBOOTS ITSELF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE THE DEVICE IS IN USE AND WHILE DRIVING.

THE SECOND TIME IS AT 13000 MILES. THE BIGGEST RISK IS BEING REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND NISSAN KNOWS THEIR CVT FOR ALTIMA AND ROGUE 2014 IS AN ISSUE, NO MOVE FROM MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE THE CAR OR RECALL ALL CARS IN QUESTION
SINCE THE FIRST WEEK WE OWNED THE CAR, OCCASIONALLY THE SCREEN(BACK UP CAM, RADIO...) DOESN'T START, OR FAILS WITHIN FIRST MILE OF DRIVING- MAYBE 10 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE DATE. ON JULY 29, 2015- MORNING- CAR UPON START, NO SCREEN AND NO DASHBOARD. RESTARTED TWICE AND THEN FINE. AT 9:30 P.M. SAME DAY-- CLOSE TO HOME, SIDE MIRROR FAILURE WARNING SHOWED ON DASH- AND A SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF SYSTEMS- INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO- GPS, SCREEN, TURN SIGNALS, HEADLIGHTS,HAZARD LIGHTS, ALL DASH INFORMATION. I PULLED INTO PARKING GARAGE AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN WINDOW TO USE KEY FOB FOR GATE AND HAD NO OPERATING WINDOWS, INCLUDING SUNROOF OR LOCKS. PUT CAR IN PARK AND COULD NOT GET IT INTO ANOTHER GEAR.TRAPPED IN CAR FOR 15 MIN. WITH CAR RUNNING- PASSENGER DOOR THEN UNLOCKED. AAA CALLED. CAR RAN FOR 3 HRS. AAA DISABLED THE ELECTRICAL OPERATING THE FUEL PUMP. CAR TOWED TO COCHRAN IN PITTSBURGH. SINCE A RESTART RESETS THE COMPUTER, NO CODE ON DIAGNOSTIC WOULD BE FOUND. COCHRAN CONSIDERS THE SITUATION RESOLVED. NISSAN HAS A CASE # AND SEVERAL RECORDED (BY NISSAN) CONVERSATIONS HAVE OCCURRED WITH REGIONAL REP. AND THAT REP. WILL NOT SEND WRITTEN FINDINGS OF INVESTIGATION (CHECK THE I KEY)AS IT IS INTERNAL INFORMATION AND I WILL PAY ALL DIAGNOSTIC FEES ASSOCIATED. REP HAS NO TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND HAS NO EXPLANATION OF WHAT AN I KEY IS OR HOW OR FOR WHAT IT SHOULD BE CHECKED. THERE IS A DIRECTIVE FROM NISSAN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AS TOLD TO ME BY WRIGHT NISSAN, BUT AGAIN NOTHING WILL BE DONE WITHOUT THE CODE FROM DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. THIS CAN'T HAPPEN AGAIN- BUT IT WILL AND IT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC-THE INTERMITTENT, RANDOM, SYSTEMATIC FAILURE WILL HAPPEN- THE EXTENT AND ORDER OF EVENTS UNKNOWN - LEAVING US AN UNCERTAIN OUTCOME AND NO PLAN FOR RESPONSE IN THE GIVEN SITUATION. WE SUSPECT THE PROBLEM IS THE BCM AS ALERTED BY THE INTERNET RESEARCH, THE AAA DRIVER AND THE COCHRAN TECH.

TAKATA RECALL- MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN A SEVERE CAR WRECK WITH SIDE IMPACT AND ROLLOVER X 3. SHE HAD AN INJURY TO THE LEFT SIDE OF HER FACE WHERE THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS NOR THE CURTAIN AIRBAGS CAME OUT . I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH NISSAN CONSUMERS AFFAIRS SINCE AUG 9, 2015 WITH A [XXX] BUT SO FAR THE ISSUE IS STILL IN PROCESS . MY DAUGHTER HAD A CT SCAN BECAUSE OF THE SWELLING OF HER LEFT FACE AND THE PHYSICIAN ASKED DID THE AIRBAGS COME OUT TO PROTECT THE SIDE OF HER FACE AND I SAID NO AND HE STATED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN AND TO GET A LAWYER . I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM ACTION NISSAN IN NASHVILLE TN . SHE WAS RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A SIDE POLE AND FLIPPED OVER 2 OR MORE TIMES ACCORDING TO A WITNESS . PICTURE WILL BE ATTACHED . DURING OUR VACATION WHILE DRIVING IN ILLINOIS WE NOTICED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING AT A SPEED OF 60 TO 65 MPH WHILE AN ADULT OCCUPYING THE PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID PASSENGER AIR BAG TURNED OFF. I PULLED OUT THE OWNERS MANUAL AND READ THAT IT COULD BE CAUSED BY AN ARTICLE PERHAPS TOUCHING THE SEAT IF RECLINED TOO FAR BACK. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. THERE WAS NOTHING TOUCHING THE SEAT. I WAS SITTING PERFECTLY STILL SO THE SENSOR SHOULD HAVE DETECTED A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. I HAD BEEN SITING IN THE SEAT FOR HOURS WITH THE NORMAL MOVEMENT. WE PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN RESTARTED AND THE LIGHT STAYED OFF. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON OUR VACATION AND IS A SCARY THOUGHT TO HAVE THIS OCCUR. ONCE HOME, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND IN THE MEANTIME THE SAME THING OCCURRED ON A SHORT IN TOWN TRIP TWICE.MY APPOINTMENT IS THIS WEEK SO I AM CURIOUS WHAT THEY WILL FIND.

TAKATA RECALL- I NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES THE 'AIRBAG' LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL BE ON AND NO ONE OR ANYTHING WOULD BE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.
THE LOW BEAM ON MY ALTIMA 2014 SV 4CY. 2.5L, IS TOTALLY INADEQUATE. THERE IS MINIMAL VISIBILITY AT NIGHT WITH LOW BEAM, CREATING A VERY HAZARDOUS PROBLEM ON THE ROADWAY. THIS IS NOT A UNIQUE PROBLEM ON MY ALTIMA, IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM ON MOST OF THE 2013, 2014, 2015, ETC. MODELS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PRODUCTION PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN ALTIMA. CHANGING BULBS TO A HIGHER QUALITY HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM AND NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED APPROX. $1000.00 TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AS WELL AS OTHERS THINK THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL AND ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD..
WE TOOK A TRIP TO NORTHERN MICHIGAN FROM ASHEVILLE NC, OUR ALTIMA BEGAN TO DIE WHEN IDLING IN DETROIT. I THOUGHT WE HAD BAD GAS SO PURCHASED LUCAS FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER AND FILLED THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE IMPROVED WE CONTINUED OUR TRIP TO INDIAN RIVER MI. ONCE WE REACHED OUR DESTINATION I PARKED THE CAR AND IT SAT FROM SATURDAY UNTIL THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY MORNING. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE, I SHIFTED THE CAR BACK INTO PARK AND THEN TO REVERSE AGAIN DEPRESSED TO FUEL PEDAL AND IT BEGAN TO MOVE. WE STARTED ON OUR DAY TRIP AND ABOUT TWO MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE DOWN SHIFTED AND WOULD NOT GO FAST THAN 20MPH, WE CALLED NISSAN ASSISTANCE AND THE SENT A WRECKER TO GET US. THE WRECKER TO US TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP TWO HOURS AWAY, AFTER SPENDING ANOTHER FOUR HOURS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT OUR VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP GOT US A RENTAL CAR AND WE ARE CURRENTLY ON OUR WAY HOME. I WILL BE TALKING TO NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE ON MONDAY TO SEE HOW THEY PLAN ON GETTING OUR VEHICLE BACK TO US. WE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SIGNALS CAME ON TO WARN US UNTIL THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL.
STARTED NOTICING THIS PROBLEM IN THE FIRST WEEK OF PURCHASE. CAR NEEDS TO BE CONSTANTLY CORRECTED TO STAY INSIDE THE LANE EVEN WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT, AND THE STEERING BECOMES TO TAUT WHEN I TRY TO CORRECT IT, LIKE ITS BEING PULLED AWAY FROM DEAD-CENTRE. I ALMOST RAN INTO CARS IN THE OTHER LANE, WAS HONKED AT MULTIPLE TIMES.. NOW I AM EXTREMELY CAREFUL AND DRIVE WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING CONSTANTLY ADJUSTING TO STAY INSIDE THE LANE. A FRIEND WHO WAS FOLLOWING ME LAST WEEKEND SAID I WAS WEAVING SO MUCH THAT IT LOOKED LIKE SOME DRUNK WAS DRIVING THE CAR!! THE STEERING ISSUE HAS TO BE FIXED BEFORE IT CAUSED ANY FATALITIES.
ON APPROXIMATELY JUNE 19, 2015 I STARTED EXPERIENCING SLUGGISH TAKE OFF FROM A STOP POSITION IN MY CAR. NOTICEABLY AFTER WORK, ON THE WAY HOME IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AFTER 7-10 MILES INTO MY TRANSIT (WITH OUTSIDE TEMPS IN THE 90'S). DIDN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY, ONLY WHEN TRAFFIC WAS REALLY BAD (STOP AND GO). I TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 29TH TO HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT; DEALERSHIP REPAIR DROVE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 16-MILES AND FOUND NO HESITATION WHILE DRIVING DURING THAT TIME. ON JULY 2ND, ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK THE SLUGGISHNESS TURNED INTO A CRITICAL, SERIOUS 'HESITATION' PROBLEM. MY FOOT WAS PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL BUT CAR WOULDN'T MOVE, I WAS HOLDING UP TRAFFIC, I PRESSED HARDER AND HARDER AND THEN MY CAR LUNGED FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT ON TWO OCCASIONS; THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY ALL THE WAY HOME (FOR THE NEXT 5+ MILES) - I DROVE WITH EMERGENCY FLASHERS. CALLED DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY I SPOKE WITH RECEPTIONIST ASKING TO SPEAK WITH SERVICE MANAGER, LEFT HIM VOICEMAIL MESSAGE/CALL NEVER RETURNED CALLED BACK COUPLE OF TIMES ONLY TO GET VOICEMAIL. MADE APPOINTMENT ONLINE & TOOK CAR IN ON JULY 7TH. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP EVER SINCE. ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER STATES THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I EXPLAINED I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR; ESPECIALLY WITH TWO MISSED CAR CRASHES. THAT WAS ENOUGH FOR ME! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT THIS CAR ANYMORE.
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN DUE TO A RECALL ON THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM ON MAY 9, 2014. PREVIOUS TO THIS THERE WERE NO OBSERVABLE PROBLEMS. ON JUNE 12, 2014 THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I BEGAN TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON WHEN A PASSENGER WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN DETECTED A PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE AIRBAG DETECTION SENSOR. THE PROBLEM SOON BECAME EVIDENT AGAIN (MANY TIMES I DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHILE ALONE, SO PROBLEM ISN'T ALWAYS EVIDENT.) ON JAN 30, 2015 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO NISSAN DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AGAIN, THEY DETECTED CODES REGARDING THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSORS AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. FIVE DAYS LATER THE PROBLEM SHOWED UP WHILE WE WERE ON A LENGTHY TRIP. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN ON APRIL 9. THEY STATED THAT NO CODES SHOWED UP AND SUGGESTED IT PROBABLY WOULD BE OK. HOWEVER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE PROBLEM SHOWED UP AGAIN, I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, EACH TIME THEY STATED THAT THEY DID A COMPUTER SCAN AND NO CODES SHOWED UP. I HAD TAKEN VIDEOS ON 3 OCCASIONS SHOWING THE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND SHOWING A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT AND SHOWING THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON INDICATING THE AIRBAG WAS NOT IN OPERATION. I OFFERED , EVEN ASKED IF THEY WOULD WATCH BUT THEY DECLINED. THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS FUNCTIONAL. THEY FURTHER TOLD ME THAT THE PRIMARY MEANS OF RESTRAINT WAS THE SEATBELT. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THE SENSOR WAS POSITIONED PROPERLY, HOWEVER THEY REFUSED, SAYING THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE ANY OTHER WORK TO BE DONE UNLESS THE COMPUTER SHOWED A PROBLEM. I AM LEFT NOT KNOWING OF MY VEHICLE IS SAFE.
WE RENTED A 2014 ALTIMA S FROM A LOCAL HERTZ RENT-A-CAR AND TRAVELED ROUNDTRIP FROM FLORIDA TO NEW YORK. ON THE RETURN TRIP WE STOPPED AT A REST AREA JUST ENTERING SOUTH CAROLINA. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND WENT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE CAR STALLED OUT. I PROCEEDED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE AGAIN IN REVERSE, AGAIN IT STALLED; TRIED AGAIN TO PUT IT IN DRIVE, AGAIN IT STALLED. I THEN CALLED HERTZ EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET A TOW TO THE NEAREST HERTZ RENTAL WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE TO THE NEAREST AIRPORT. THE TOW CAME IN 45 MINUTES SINCE THE NEAREST RELIABLE TOW WAS IN NORTH CAROLINA. EVEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR WITHOUT THE VEHICLE STALLING OUT EVEN AFTER COOLING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. THE CAR RENTAL GAVE US ANOTHER VEHICLE, A NISSAN SENTRA, WHICH WAS THE LARGEST VEHICLE THEY HAD AVAILABLE. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO FINISH OUR TRIP TO FLORIDA WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENCE. THE RENTAL AGENT OR HIS BOSS COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED; THAT THEY'RE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THEIR RENTALS; THAT SHE'LL GIVE ME A TOKEN DOLLARS OFF MY RENTAL SINCE NO OTHER PLACES WOULD EVEN DO WHAT SHE DID FOR US....UPDATED 07/30/15 *BF UPDATED 9/24/2015 *JS

I BOUGHT THE CAR LAST YEAR AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN ABOUT 13 MONTHS. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A KIND OF JERK WHEN I WOULD START OFF A STOP LIGHT AND ACCELERATE. FIRST THINKING IT WAS NOT A GREAT DEAL, I KEPT GOING HOWEVER I NOTICED IT THAT IT WAS BECOMING MORE CONSTANT. ONE DAY ABOUT TO REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING LOT, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT STARTED WORKING FINE. BEING LATE FOR WORK, I THEN CONTINUED ON AND UNTIL YESTERDAY EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. YESTERDAY, I GOT INTO MY CAR, STARTED IT, SWITCHED TO DRIVE, AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, TURNED IT ON AGAIN, MOVED THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE HAD IT TOWED AND IT IS BEING CHECKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS BEING A ONE YEAR OLD CAR, I DO NOT EXPECT IT TO GIVE THESE ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDING TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 260,000.

MY CAR IS STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SOMETIMES CUTS OFF AT A LOW SPEED. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT SEE ANY ISSUES DUE TO THE ENGINE LIGHT NOT COMING ON. 2014 ALTIMA HAS BEEN INTO DEALER FOR PASSENGER AIR BAG ISSUES AND TWICE THEY HAVE DONE THINGS, BUT WE STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK CAUSING UNWANTED ACCELERATION.

THE LOW BEAMS ON MY VEHICLE ARE VERY DIM. AT NIGHT I NEED TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON TO SEE. THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT IN THIS MAKE MODEL YEAR CAR FROM RESEARCH I'VE CONDUCTED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IT WAS PURCHASED FROM SEVERAL TIMES, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE LIGHTS ARE FINE. PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE.
I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR ABOUT 15 MONTHS AND I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. SO ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A JERK WHEN I WOULD PUSH ON THE GAS WHEN COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. ONE TIME MY CAR EVEN SLIGHTLY SLID AND THE TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE THAT HAPPENED BUT THEY SAID THAT THE ONLY ISSUE THEY SAW WAS THAT MY WHEELS WERE UNBALANCED. I STILL EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE FROM TIME TO TIME AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR FOR A REASON AND THAT WAS TO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH CAR ISSUES FOR A WHILE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A STRONG GLARE EMITTED FROM THE DASHBOARD ONTO THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH PREVENTED THE DRIVER FROM SEEING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION; HOWEVER, THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE GLARE WAS NOT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,600. UPDATED 6/8/15*CN UPDATED 10/11/2017*CN
BLIND SIDE ZONE DETECTION ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTION DURING TIMES OF RAINY WEATHER. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN ( CASE # [XXX] BEING HANDLED BY [XXX]). BOTH DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN HAVE SAID THAT THIS ISSUE CAN NOT BE REPAIRED. AT ISSUE IS THAT DURING RAINY WEATHER THE BLIND SPOT WARNING LIGHTS COME ON WITH NO VEHICLES IN THIS SPOT. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO SWERVE THE CAR TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A PHANTOM VEHICLE. THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT IN FLORIDA ON I-10 THIS PAST MONTH. BOTH DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN STATED TO ME THAT IN THE OWNERS MANUAL IT STATES THAT THIS SAFETY OPTION MAY MALFUNCTION DURING RAINY WEATHER. SO NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE CAR IS SOLD, IT IS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, BUT REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. 1. WHY DOES NISSAN "TOUT" THIS SAFETY FEATURE WHEN THEY KNOWINGLY KNOW THAT IT MAY MALFUNCTION WHEN THE DRIVER NEEDS IT THE MOST? 2. ALTHOUGH IT IS STATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, THE OWNERS MANUAL IS NOT GIVEN TO THE CUSTOMER NOR MADE AVAILABLE TO READ BEFORE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. HOW IS THE OWNER TO KNOW THAT THE SAFETY OPTION THEY ARE PURCHASING MAY MALFUNCTION DURING THE TIME THEY NEED TO USE IT THE MOST? 3. NISSAN'S RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE IS TO JUST TURN OFF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT YOU BOUGHT DURING RAINY WEATHER. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RESPONSE TO A BIG SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. 4. AN ACCEPTABLE REMEDY TO THIS PROBLEM IS: A. FIX THE PROBLEM. B. RETURN MY MONEY TO ME AND I WILL GIVE THE CAR BACK. C. MAKE THE SAME OPTIONS AS A AND B ABOVE TO ALL OTHER CUSTOMERS.
