THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V681000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,500. BRAKES MAKE A LOUD NOISE WHEN PRESSED. DEALERSHIP REPLACED ROTOR BRAKE, CALIPER ASSY - REAR RH, W/O PADS OR SHIMS, PAD KIT - DISC BR, BRAKE FLUID, HARDWARE KIT - REAR DISC BRAKE PAD. *TR
DRIVING AT SPEEDS HIGHER THAN 50MPH CONSTANT STEER CORRECTIONS NEED TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CAR SAFELY BETWEEN LANES. THE CAR MOVES LEFT AND RIGHT AND CANNOT KEEP A STRAIGHT LINE WITHOUT CONSTANTLY NEEDING TO CORRECT THE STEERING. THIS IS ON CALM WEATHER TODAY 3/10/2015, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE 49 DEGREES, WIND SPEED 2 MPH FOR WOODBURN, OR AREA ACCORDING TO WEATHER.COM. EVEN IF THERE IS NO WIND, THE CAR FEELS LIKE THERE ARE CROSS WINDS. THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND COMPLAINS FROM OTHER OWNERS ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET INCLUDING AT THE DEALER'S SERVICE CENTERS. I AM WORRIED ABOUT HIGHER WIND SPEEDS AND HOW DANGEROUS THAT CAN BE WITH A CAR THAT CANNOT KEEP A STRAIGHT LINE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT HAS A ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST THAT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT IS SPEED SENSITIVE. IT IS DANGEROUS AS UNEXPECTED LANE SWERVING CAN CAUSE MAJOR ACCIDENTS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO CORRECT THE STEERING ASSIST AND OFFER A MORE SMOOTHER RIDE AND A BETTER HANDLING EXPERIENCE ON HIGHWAYS. THE DEALER SERVICE CENTERS CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND ARE TELLING YOU TO DEAL WITH IT AND LEARN HOW TO DRIVE THE CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V681000 (AIR BAGS) BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,377.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER BEING IDLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE OVER ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT WITH BRAKE ON THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF AND JUMPED THE CURB. WHEN THE BACK TIRES BOUNCED OVER THE CURB THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING.
THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT WILL NOT DETECT AN ADULT OCCUPYING THE SEAT AND DISABLES THE AIR BAG FOR THAT PASSENGER. I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED THIS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR ADULTS RANGING IN WEIGHTS FROM 130 POUNDS TO 165 POUNDS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALER ON 4 OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY REPROGRAMMED IT. THE SECOND, THEY REPLACED A SENSOR. THE THIRD, THEY SAID MY WIFE DIDN'T WEIGH ENOUGH AND TO SIT VERY STILL OR BOUNCE AROUND IN THE SEAT SO THAT THE PASSENGER IS DETECTED. THE FOURTH TIME, THEY REPLACED TWO SENSORS. STILL THE ISSUE PERSISTS. TO TRY AND REMEDY, I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND KEEP TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON UNTIL IT DETECTS MY PASSENGER AND ENABLES THE AIRBAG.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE RPMS BEGAN JUMPING. IT WAS ACTING LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THEN AFTER STOPPING, THE TRANSMISSION TOOK SEVERAL SECONDS TO GO INTO GEAR. A SHORT TIME LATER, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 60MPH. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAD UNDER 20,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD THEIR TRANSMISSIONS REPLACED 5 TIMES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN AN ADULT PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE SEAT, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS DEACTIVATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN AN ADULT PASSENGER SAT IN THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
THE FIRST INCIDENCE WAS IN OCTOBER, 2014; MY WIFE WAS SEATED IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, WHEN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT LIT UP INDICATING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM FOR FRONT PASSENGER WAS TURNED OFF. SINCE SHE WAS SEATED NORMALLY WITH FULL WEIGHT ON THE SEAT..WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONING IS TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOLLOWING THAT INCIDENCE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR, AT THAT TIME, CONFIRMED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALLED AIR BAGS, HOWEVER, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER AND TOLD ME TO WATCH FOR ANY OTHER INSTANCES. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS ON 2/8/15, WITH THE SAME CONDITIONS. I QUICKLY SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPT FOR 2/12/15 & REFUSED TO LET ANYONE IN THE FRONT SEAT. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/12/15, THE NISSAN SERVICE ADVISOR DISCUSSED WITH ME A TSB, WHICH SAID THAT "OCCUPANTS WHO ARE PROPERLY SEATED AND CORRECTLY USING THE SEAT BELT, SHOULD NOT CAUSE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG TO BE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF." HE THEN HAD THE CARE INSPECTED BY A SERVICE TECH. FOLLOWING THE INSPECTION, THE SERVICE ADVISOR CAME TO ME AND NOTED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS NOT SHOWING ANY TROUBLE CODES. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND TO LET THEM KNOW IF I HAD ANYMORE TROUBLE. AT THIS POINT I REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR OFF THEIR LOT UNTIL IT WAS FIXED - I DID NOT FEEL THAT MY FAMILY SHOULD BE SUBJECTED TO A POSSIBLE FAILURE OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM, INJURY, OR DEATH. IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THOSE OUTCOMES WERE 100% AVOIDABLE. AFTER A FEW CONVERSATIONS INCL THE SERVICE MANAGER, I WAS PROVIDED WITH A DEALER LOANER VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD RESEARCH THE SITUATION. I HAVE ELEVATED THIS TO NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIR SPECIALIST VIA THE 1 800 NISSAN 1, CALL CENTER. I HOPE A SOLUTION IS FOUND QUICKLY. *TR
NEW 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA CAME EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK OPTIMA H426 P215/60R16 94T TIRES. TIRE BLEW ON FREEWAY GOING 55MPH WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP THUS FAR CLAIMING IT IS A TIRE MANUFACTURING ISSUE. *TR
I AM WRITING REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN AIR BAG SAFETY SYSTEM IN MY 2014 ALTIMA. I PURCHASED A 2014 ALTIMA IN AUGUST AND HAVE HAD A RECURRING INTERMITTENT PROBLEM OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND REMAINING ON WHEN I HAVE AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE WEIGHS 120 POUNDS YET IT IS NOT INFREQUENT FOR THE LIGHT TO GO ON WHEN WE START THE CAR AND THEN REMAIN ON FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, USUALLY BETWEEN FIFTEEN AND THIRTY MINUTES. IT MAY ALSO COME ON AND STAY ON IF SHE GETS IN THE CAR AFTER I HAVE STARTED IT. SINCE LOCAL TRIPS ARE OFTEN LESS THAN THIRTY MINUTES, THERE ARE TIMES WE COMPLETE A SHORT TRIP WITHOUT THE LIGHT GOING OUT. THE LIGHT WILL ALSO COME ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. DURING ONE OF THESE EPISODES THE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE, REMAINED ON FOR JUST OVER AN HOUR, AND THEN WENT OFF. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR EVALUATED BY NISSAN TWICE AND ARE REPEATEDLY TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG. I ALSO WROTE AND SPOKE WITH NISSAN CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE SEAT. THERE ARE NO CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND MY WIFE IS NOT TURNING AROUND IN THE SEAT. [XXX] JANUARY 31, 2015 DEAR SIR: I BOUGHT MY NISSAN, 2014 ALTIMA, IN MAY 2014. I HAVE SCIATIC NERVE PAIN THAT ORIGINATES FROM MY LOWER BACK AND RUNS DOWN MY LEGS SOMETIMES CAUSING ME TO FIDGET IN MY SEAT WHILE DRIVING. ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE TRYING TO GET COMFORTABLE IN THE DRIVER SEAT, THE OUTSIDE OF MY KNEE HAS INADVERTENTLY COME IN CONTACT WITH THE OVERDRIVE OFF SWITCH LOCATED ON THE INSIDE POTION OF THE SHIFT HANDLE ON THE CENTER CONSOLE. WHEN THE OVERDRIVE OFF BUTTON IS ENGAGED, I EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS IN POWER AND THE ENGINE SEEMS TO CONVULSE AND SHUDDER. I IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER, USUALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, TO TRY TO GET OUT OF THIS MODE. LUCKILY, THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT RATHER AT ABOUT 35 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. I FIND IT TO BE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHICH LUCKILY HAS NOT LED TO ANY TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. I SEE ABSOLUTELY NO NEED OR ANY SITUATION WHERE I WOULD EVER USE THIS SYSTEM AND THEREFORE SEE NO REASON TO EQUIP THE CAR WITH THIS FEATURE. EVERY TIME I DO THIS, I FEEL I AM DOING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE OR PERHAPS LEADING TO SOME HUGE EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILL DOWN THE ROAD. AT THE VERY LEAST, THE BUTTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A POSITION WHERE IT CANNOT BE INADVERTENTLY PUSHED. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A SPOT WHERE YOU WOULD HAVE TO INTENTIONALLY ACCESS IT. I FIND IT TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD AND A CONCERN FOR DOING EXPENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG" LIGHT SPORADICALLY COMES ON WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE AND BECAME MORE OBVIOUS AFTER AN AIRBAG RECALL SOMETIME LAST YEAR. IT WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND THEN TURN ITSELF OFF AGAIN AFTER 5MIN OR SO. DRIVING IN MIDDLE LANE ON EXPRESSWAY IN CHICAGO, WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AGAIN I THOUGHT I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE MY CAR JUMPED. AS I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, CAR JUMPED AGAIN AND THEN DIED. TOWED TO THE DEALER, WAS FIRST TOLD IT WAS AN ECM DEFECT AND WOULD REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY. THEN RECEIVED A CALL THAT SOME OTHER ERRORS CAME UP REGARDING MY TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION BASED OFF THE ERROR BUT WILL HAVE TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE. THE ISSUE OF THE CAR JUMPING HAD BEEN HAPPENING PRIOR AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HAD THEY NOT FOUND THE OTHER ERRORS I WOULD HAVE PICKED UP THE CAR THINKING IT WAS FIXED AND THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND POSSIBLE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES FROM IT! THE PASS. SIDE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT DO NOT ALL WAYS TURN OFF WHEN SOMEONE IS SETTING IN PASS. SEAT. NISSAN LAST YEAR HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, THEY RELOADED THE OCS SOFTWARE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD 3 PROBLEM SO FAR SENSE THE RECALL. MOST OF THE TIME THERE IS NO ONE BUT ME IN THE CAR SO I DO NOT HAVE A IDEA OF HOW OFTEN IT COULD HAD FAIL IF SOMEONE WAS IN THE PASS. SEAT WITH EVERY TRIP. I HAVE ONLY TAKEN THE CAR ONCE TO THE DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE FIRST TIME I DID NOT THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND AFTER CHECKING IT OUT, THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTING THEY COULD OR WOULD DO BECAUSE THEY HAD NO FAILURE AND THAT NISSAN WILL NOT LET THEM REPLACE ANY PARTS UNLESS THERE IS A FAILURE AS NISSAN WILL NOT PAY FOR THE ITEM. OPEN REF.# 19611123 WITH NISSAN AND WAS TOLD ABOUT THE SAME THIN, EXCEPT NISSAN SAID THAT IT WAS THE DEALER CALL BUT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR NO FAILURE PART REPLACEMENT. I BELIEVE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND SOMEONE WITH POWER SHOULD LOOK INTO IT, DO TO THE FACT THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. NO ONE I TALK TO AT THE DEALER OR ON THE PHONE TO NISSAN WOULD OR COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE INTERNET HAS MANY WRITE UP ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THAT NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT. I GUESS THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO BE BADLY INJURED OR KILLED TO TAKE THE PROBLEM SERIOUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO UPDATED THE OCS SOFTWARE AND REPLACED THE SENSORS, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND ONLY OCCURRED WITH SMALLER PASSENGERS WEIGHING 115 LBS AND UNDER THAT OCCUPIED THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM, THEY ARE VERY UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT YOU CAN'T SEE MORE THAN A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, STREET SIGNS AND ROAD REFLECTORS DO NOT ILLUMINATE AT ALL. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS SEVERAL TIMES WITH OUT ANY IMPROVEMENT, THE MOST RECENT CHANGE WAS MADE WITH A NEW LED LIGHTING KIT WITH NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE DOWN ROAD VISION. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT CHANGE IF THE VEHICLE IS STANDING AT IDLE OR IN MOTION.

VEHICLE IS DRIVEN SEVERAL MILES SO THE ENGINE IS WARM. THREE TIMES THE CAR HAS STALLED WHEN STOPPING AT A LIGHT OR SLOWING AT AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN OR RIGHT TURN. I HAVE NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE - 2014 ALTIMA SL. SEVERAL TIMES AFTER STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION STOPS SWITCHING GEARS (SPEEDS). IT GETS STUCK ON A FIRST GEAR EQUIVALENT IN CVT TRANSMISSION. THE FIX IS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, OBVIOUSLY THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD WHERE THERE ARE NO PLACES TO STOP. ANOTHER MAJOR PROBLEM IS A HEAD UNIT (NAVIGATION, RADIO, ETC). WHILE DRIVING ON A SECTION OF A US HIGHWAY THAT WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, A BUMP WAS ENCOUNTERED WHERE THE PAVEMENT BLENDED WITH OLD PAVEMENT. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA S ON 7/20/14. ON 9/17/14 MY CEL BEGAN FLASHING, CAR SHAKING & LOSING POWER AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (WHICH IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION WITH NO SHOULDERS TO PULL OVER ON). COILS WERE SWAPPED OUT & I PICKED UP THE CAR 10/2/14 AGAINST MY WILL. FULL TANK WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR STATING I'D RECEIVE 540 MILES (NORMAL FOR AN ALTIMA) & 2 DAYS LATER, IT DROPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN BY 100 MILES FOR NO REASON. I ONLY RECEIVED 400 MILES TO FULL TANK & THE MAJORITY OF MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY MILES. IT IS STILL CONSUMING GASOLINE & IS IDLING ROUGHER. THIS ISSUE IS REGARDING THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT THAT TURNS ON EVEN WHEN THERE IS AN ADULT PASSENGER OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE WEIGHT OF THE ADULT PASSENGER (150LBS - 180LBS) IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE THRESHOLD FOR ACTIVATING THE AIR BAGS.
