FUEL GAUGE BEGAN READING INACCURATELY AT 35,389 K, WOULD ONLY REGISTER 3/4 WHEN TANK WAS FILLED. INACCURATE READING SUBJECTED OWNER TO CHANCE OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. VEHICLE RETURNED TO DEALER AND WAS PROMPTLY REPAIRED BY INSTALLATION OF A SENDING UNIT. NO CHARGE TO OWNER. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE WILL NOT READ CORRECTLY AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYS ON! EX. IF MY LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON AND I GO FILL UP THE TRUCK, IT STILL READS THAT I NEED GAS AND THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM! THE GAUGE NEVER READS THE GAS LEVEL CORRECTLY! I HAVE ALREADY RAN OUT OF GAS ONCE DUE TO THE FAULTY GAUGE, SO I NOW HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT VIA MILEAGE! THE GAUGE WAS WORKING JUST FINE, AND ONE DAY THIS JUST HAPPENED! I HAVE BEEN PUTTING UP WITH IT FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS AND ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN FRONTIER'S! NOW THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ALWAYS READS THAT THE OIL PRESSURE IS HIGH, WHEN THAT IS NOT THE CASE! SO I NOW WOULDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS HIGH OR NOT, WHICH IF IT WAS IT COULD CAUSE MY ENGINE TO BLOW OUT AND CAUSE A CRASH! *TR
THE TAILGATE ON MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER LE 2WD PICKUP TRUCK CONTINUALLY COMES OFF IT'S HINGES EVEN AFTER BEING SECURED BY FORCEFULLY CLOSING, AND AT TIMES, SLAMMING, THE TAILGATE SHUT. THIS DEFECT HAS CAUSED THE TAILGATE TO COME OFF IT'S HINGES AND IS A SAFETY RISK TO OTHER DRIVERS WHO ARE BEHIND ME, AS IT CAN CAUSE GREAT BODILY HARM, SERIOUS INJURY, OR EVEN DEATH IF IT EVER ENTIRELY FELL OFF. BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT, I LOCK THE TAILGATE IN AN ATTEMPT THAT IT IS SECURELY CLOSED. *TR
NISSAN FRONTIER 2005 - 27,000 MILES CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL WENT OUT NISSAN DEALERSHIP HERE ON KAUAI SAID THAT IT WAS DUE TO "DRIVER ERROR" AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY - WANTED TO CHARGE ME $1700 TO FIX I HAVE BEEN DRIVING STANDARD SHIFT CARS FOR 30 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A CLUTCH GO OUT ON ME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO SAID A. HE GOT SEVERAL DIFFERENT STORIES FROM THE NISSAN MECHANICS, B. IN HIS OPINION NISSAN HAD NEVER TAKEN THE CLUTCH APART TO LOOK AT IT THEREFORE HOW COULD THEY TELL IT WAS DRIVER ERROR AND C. IN HIS OPINION THE MATERIALS USED TO MAKE THE TRUCK WERE TOO SOFT. HOW CAN I GET NISSAN TO ADMIT THAT THIS WAS A FACTORY DEFECT AND PAY FOR REPAIRS? *JB
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER NISMO 4X4, 4 LITER. CHECK ENGINE ILLUMINATED. INTERMITTENT FUNCTION OF FUEL GAUGE , , DTC P0463, SAME CHASSIS AND ELECTRICAL AS PATHFINDER. SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOR PATHFINDER. *TR
AT THE TIME OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE I HAD NO PRIOR SIGNS OF A PROBLEM. AS I WAS MERGING ON TO THE 4 LANE AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 45-50 MPH THE TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I THOUGHT I HAD GOTTEN SOME BAD FUEL BECAUSE I HAD JUST FILLED THE FUEL. THE SHAKING SOMEWHAT SMOOTHED OUT AT ABOUT 60 MPH, THOUGH THE TRUCK WAS LACKING NORMAL POWER, AND WOULD SHUDDER WHEN PULLING A GRADE. I DROVE THE TRUCK ABOUT 10 MILES AND STOPPED TO GET SOME FUEL TREATMENT BECAUSE I STILL THOUGHT I WAS HAVING FUEL PROBLEMS. AT THIS POINT THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ACT AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL, THEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD GRAB AND JAR THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY. AT THIS TIME I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND NEARLY HIT. I BARELY GOT THE TRUCK TO MY MECHANIC. FURTHER INSPECTION BY MY MECHANIC SHOWED ANTIFREEZE IN THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION TOTALLY REBUILT AND REPLACED THE RADIATOR, AT A COST OF ABOUT $4,000. ABOUT A YEAR PRIOR I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED, REPLACED FILTER AND FLUID AS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY BECAUSE I PLANNED TO KEEP THE TRUCK FOR LONG TERM. MY TRUCK IS PAST THE WARRANTY SO TOTAL COST IS INCURRED BY ME. *TR
FUEL TANK INDICATOR DOES NOT INDICATE FULL TANK AFTER FILLING FULL; FIRST OCCURRENCE IN JULY 2007; SECOND OCCURRENCE FEB 2009; NOT UNDER WARRANTY SECOND TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT CALIPERS SEIZED AND AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE REPLACED THE CALIPERS, BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ON EACH SIDE TWICE PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
POORLY DESIGNED U-JOINT TO FRONT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. ,U-JOINT HAS NO GREASE FITTING WILL RUST AND DISINTERESTED. MANUFACTURER HAS ADDED FITTING TO REPLACE PART. HOWEVER, ORIGINAL COULD FAIL AND BRING VEHICLE TO COMPLETE STOP IN TRAFFIC OR FRONT DRIVE COULD FAIL IN ADVERSE WEATHER, LEADING TO LOSS OF TRACTION ,BOTH OF WHICH COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT. TAILGATE PRONE TO FAILURE DUE TO POOR WELD ON INNER HALF TAILGATE HINGE.TAILGATE WAS HEAVY AND COULD LEAD TO INJURY TO A CHILD OR SMALL PERSON IF FAILURE OCCURED WHILE OPENING.ONCE AGAIN MANUFACTURER HAS ADDED ADDITIONAL WELDS IN REPLACEMENT PART. *AK
SIDE IMPACT/ROLL-OVER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY IN MY TRUCK WHILE OFF-ROAD ON A BUMPY BUT LEVEL SURFACE.*AK
WE HAVE A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT - WELL MAINTAINED AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. BOTH HINGES ON THE TAILGATE BROKE. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY, IT CAME OFF WHEN IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IF IT BROKE AND FELL OFF ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, IT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM OR MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER LIED AND CLAIMED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO OVERLOAD - WE DON'T USE THE TRUCK TO HAUL ANYTHING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING AT ANY SPEED BEING TRAVELED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FUEL TANK REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT THE OWNER EXPENSE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL FAILURE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 02/23/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT IT HAPPENED UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE DIDN'T OVERHEAT, THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL LEAK OR ODOR. ONCE THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP IT WAS TOO LATER. UPDATED 03/09/11
AT ABOUT 80,000KMS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILED. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $700CDN TO REPAIR IT. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS VERY EAGER TO GET IT FIXED FOR ME, BUT I DECLINED. THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL AND AT A CERTAIN POINT IT READS HALF FULL BUT IT NEVER READS FULL. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ALWAYS LIT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FRONTIERS AND PATHFINDERS, BUT NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. WILL STICK WITH TOYOTA CARS IN THE FUTURE. *TR
VEHICLE HAS SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH POSITION SENSORS ON CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT. VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS SUDDENLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION AS VEHICLE WILL LOOSE BRAKING AND STEERING CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS OR IN A INCLINE, HILL ON OR OFF ROAD. NISSAN HAS FAULTY WIRING ON THESE SENSORS THAT CONTROL THE ENGINE POWER, A KNOW PROBLEM THAT HAS NEVER BEEN RECALLED. OVER 100 PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED INJURIES OR LOSS OF LIFE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. NISSAN DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM AND SEVERAL FORUMS ONLINE INCLUDING NEWSPAPER ARTICLES OUTLINE THE ISSUE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEEDS, THE TAIL GATE WHICH WAS LOCKED IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, FELL TO THE GROUND WITH THE RIGHT SIDE STILL ATTACHED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THE LEFT TAILGATE HINGE AND ATTACHMENT FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE INITIAL REPLACEMENT, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON THE STREET, THE TAILGATE SEPARATED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT BOTH TAILGATE HINGES AND ATTACHMENTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE HAVING A GENERAL MAINTENANCE INSPECTION PERFORMED AT THE DEALER, THE CONTACT NOTED A SUBSTANTIAL GAP BETWEEN THE TRUCK BED AND CAB WITH A DISTANCE OF 12 INCHES. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE STRUCTURAL BODY SEPARATION WAS DUE TO DRIVING ON ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BRAKE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THERE WAS A PRONOUNCED VIBRATION AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE WORN AND TWISTED. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTORS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS ROAD TESTED BY THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT BRAKING WAS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.
TREAD ON DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS COMING OFF. REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP THEY REFERRED ME TO (3) TIRE DEALERSHIPS. NONE OF THEM SAID THEY DON'T GIVE WARRANTY'S FOR THOSE TIRES. MY TRUCK IS NOT EVEN AN YEAR OLD. NEED TO KNOW WHERE AND WHAT I CAN DO ABOUT THIS SITUATION. THE MAKE OF THE TIRE IS P265/70R16. THE TIRE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO MAKE REPAIRS ASAP. *NM
PURCHASED MATERIALS AT HOME DEPOT AND LOADED THEM IN MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. CLOSED THE TAILGATE AND AS I GOT ON TO THE INTERSTATE (APPROX. 1 MILE), I HEARD A LOUD SLAMMING NOISE-LOOKED BACK AND MY TAILGATE WAS BEING DRAGGED, DISATTACHED AND ALL MY SUPPLIES SCATTERED THROUGH OUT. WHAT CAUSED THE INCIDENT WAS NISSAN HAS SECURED THERE TAILGATE CABLES TO THE BOTTOM BOLT OF THE LATCHING/LOCK MECHANISM. I ASSUME EACH TIME YOU OPEN AND CLOSE THE TAILGATE-FRICTION BETWEEN THE PARTS HAD CONTINUALLY LOOSENED THE BOLT. THE BOLT WAS MISSING-BUT LOOKING AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TAILGATE YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE IT IS JUST A POOR DESIGN. NISSAN COULD SECURE THE CABLE TO ITS OWN BOLT. THE RESULT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE LATCH PUSHED FORWARD RATHER THAN LATCHED ON TO THE TAILGATE, AND BECAUSE THE OTHER SIDE LATCH WAS SECURE IT GAVE A FALSE IMPRESSION OF IT BEING SECURE. THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TAILGATE HAS A CUTOUT ON THE BOTTOM SO WHEN NEEDED YOU CAN REMOVE IT BY PULLING IT OUT, AS THE DRIVER SIDE HAS A PIN THE STICKS INTO A CYLINDER. THE RESULT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE OF TAILGATE CAME UNDONE, AND BECAUSE IT WAS THE OPEN END- DROPPED AND PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVER SIDE SENDING IT ONTO THE ROAD, AND THANKFULLY NOT INJURING ANYONE. IT IS VISIBLY A POOR DESIGN. I HAVE E-MAILED THIS TO THEM, BUT TO NO RESPONSE AS OF YET. *NM
FUEL DOOR CLOSING SPRING DESIGNED POORLY CAUSING FUEL DOOR TO OPEN AND EXPOSE FILLER NECK. THE SPRING IS DESIGNED TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED BUT THE WAY THE SPRING IS ATTACHED TO THE DOOR ALLOWS IT TO POP OFF AND EXPOSE THE FILLER NECK. *NM
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 4,200 MILES ON IT. ABOUT A WEEK AGO THE TRUCK DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED ONE DAY AFTER THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND THE OWNER'S MANUAL,THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A BIG DEAL. ANYWAY, IT TURNED OUT THAT I HAD A CRACK AND SMALL HOLE IN DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT. THE HOLE WAS THE SIZE OF A BALL. IT HAD BEEN RAINING FOR A FEW DAYS, AND APPARENTLY WATER WAS GETTING INTO THIS HOLE. THE DEALER TOLD ME, AFTER 3 DAYS WITH MY TRUCK, THAT WATER GETTING IN THROUGH THE TAIL LIGHT WAS THE CAUSE OF MY TRUCK BREAKING DOWN. THE ONLY THING DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM WAS REPLACING THE TAIL LIGHT. THEY DIDN'T CHECK FOR OTHER LEAKS, OR OTHER FAULTS WITH THE VEHICLE. IT JUST SEEMS ABSURD TO ME THAT A MODERN VEHICLE CAN BE DISABLED BY SUCH A MINOR THING, AND HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. WHAT THEY ARE BASICALLY SAYING IS THAT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IN THE RAIN COULD CAUSE A BREAKDOWN, AND ALL THEY DID WAS FIX MY TAIL LIGHT.*AK
I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP TRUCK. THE TAILGATE DOES NOT SEAL UP, IN FACT THERE IS A GAP OF OVER ONE (1) INCH BETWEEN THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND THE TAILGATE WHEN THE TAIL GATE IS CLOSED. THERE IS ALSO A GAP OF ABOUT A HALF INCH ON EACH SIDE OF THE TAILGATE AND THE SIDES OF THE TRUCK BED. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT TO ME BUT TO ANY CAR THAT SHOULD BE FOLLOWING ME IF I WERE CARRYING A LOAD OF DIRT, SAND, OR GRAVEL IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THIS MATERIAL WOULD DROP OUT AND COULD STRIKE A FOLLOWING VEHICLE CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE, BROKEN WINDSHIELDS AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE AVOIDED PUTTING SUCH MATERIALS IN MY TRUCK BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THIS WOULD HAPPEN AND I CANNOT GET THE USE OF THE TRUCK TO HAUL THESE TYPE OF MATERIALS. *JB
THE DRIVE-SHAFT PULLEY BROKE WHICH BROKE A BELT THAT DISABLED POWER-STEERING AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. *NM THERE'S ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE HOOD LATCH LOOSENING THAT MAY CAUSE THE HOOD TO FLY OPEN AT HIGH SPEEDS.
NOISE THAT IS HEARD AROUND THE DASHBOARD AREA, WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN AT 40 MPH TO 45 MPH. DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE. THEY GREASED THE VEHICLE, AND TIGHTEN THE BOLTS. NO SUCCESS. *NM
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER, I NOTICED A GASOLINE SMELL. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK, AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH. GAS WAS POURING ON THE GROUND FROM ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT GAS WAS SPRAYING FROM THE FUEL PUMP ALL OVER THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK, EVEN ONTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE AMOUNT OF GAS SPRAYING WAS ABSOLUTELY FRIGHTENING. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE FUEL TANK HIT A ROCK ON A RECENT TRIP. THIS CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO SMASH AGAINST THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK AND CREATE THIS PROBLEM. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL, TO 3/4 FULL, ANY IMPACT ON THE CENTER OF THE FUEL TANK, WILL RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE FUEL PUMP LIKE I EXPERIENCED. IMPACT TO THE FUEL TANK IS ALMOST UNAVOIDABLE IN ANY OFF ROAD SITUATION. THE FUEL TANK IS THE LOWEST COMPONENT UNDER THE TRUCK, AND THE MAIN POWER WHEEL IN 4WD IS THE WHEEL DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE FUEL TANK. THIS PROBLEM WILL RESULT IN FIERY DEATH, AND/OR FOREST FIRES. THERE IS NO SKID PLATE KIT AVAILABLE TO PROTECT THE GAS TANK AT THIS TIME. THE DEALER REFUSED TO WARRANTY THIS ITEM THE SECOND TIME IT OCCURRED. A NEW FUEL PUMP COST IS IN EXCESS OF $600.00 THIS IS A POOR DESIGN, AND TRULY WILL RESULT IN DEATH. *JB
PURCHASED A 05 FRONTIER CC 4X4 TRUCK FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. 2 WEEKS I HAD THE TRUCK ROUGHLY THE 15 OF JULY, I HAD PUT A 30 TO 40 POUND STONE IN THE BACK OF MY TRUCK WHICH HAS THE RHINO BED LINER, ROCK DENT IN THE RIBS OF THE BOX AND CHIPPED THE RHINO BED LINING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, EXPLAINED IN DETAIL BUT NOTHING DONE AS OF YET. YET ANOTHER PERSON HAD THE SAME PROBLEM I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND GOT A NEW BOX. PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW RATTLING, THE REAR END SQUEAKING, AND THE REAR. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN AGAIN, THEY TOOK IT IN SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW AND THE REAR END SQUEAKING. TOOK TRUCK HOME AND WAS DOING THE SAME THING. TOOK BACK AGAIN FOR SAME PROBLEM PLUS REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND ENGINE BRAKE. SAID THEY FIXED WINDOW (NOT TRUE AGAIN), HAD TO REPLACE THE BUSHINGS IN THE REAR(WERE BAD), AND NEEDED A NEW REAR DIFFERENTIAL ENGINE BRAKE THEY SAID THEY HAD TO CONTACT SOMEONE ELSE ABOUT TO FIND OUT PROBLEM(NOT FIXED TO DATE) TOOK TRUCK IN AGAIN HAD IT 3 DAYS SAID WAS FIXED. I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS DOING EXACT SAME THING BUT NOW REAR WAS GETTING HOT. CALLED MONDAY MORNING TO TELL THEM IT WAS DOING EXACT SAME THING AND THE REAR WAS GETTING HOT AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANGER GOT PISSED OFF WAS YELLING. NOW HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STEERING IN THE FRONT , NOT RIGHT. TRIED TO GET PROBLEM WORKED OUT WITH DEALERSHIP. HAD TO FINALLY CALL NISSAN COMPLAINT CENTER. WAITED A WEEK FOR RESPONSE AND FINALLY HAD CALL FROM CONSUMER AFFAIRS WITH NO RESOLUTION. TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DO NOTHING EXCEPT SEND TO GENERAL MANAGER PLUS FILE COMPLAINT WITH BBB AUTO WHICH, COST $200, NO GUARANTEE. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALSO DID NOT GIVE ME COPIES OF SERVICE WORK DONE AND REFUSES TO DO SO. CONSUMER AFFAIRS ONLY TOLD ME THEY CAN GET THEM AND IT WILL HELP THEIR CASE. CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP HAD THEM PULL UP WORK DONE ON TRUCK AND NONE WAS FILED. I WAS SOLD A LEMON NISSAN DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH. I SMELL A LAWSUIT! *JB
CORROSION IN THE FUEL SENDING UNIT CAUSED THE CONSUMER'S 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER NOT TO START. *NM *JB *NM
DT: THE CONTACT PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER ON 5/18/2005. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE TRANSMISSION POPPED OUT OF SECOND GEAR ON FOUR OCCASIONS. ONCE ON A BUMPY ROAD, TWICE ON WASHBOARD ROADS, AND ONCE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON DRY PAVEMENT. ALL ROADS FREQUENTLY USED BY PASSENGER VEHICLES AND TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS UNDER 20 MPH. NISSAN ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BY ADDING WHEEL WEIGHTS TO THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY TO DAMPEN THE SHIFTER VIBRATION, AND THEN REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH TIMES THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM ON WASHBOARD ROAD USED BY PASSENGER VEHICLES. THEN NISSAN GAVE THE CONTACT A 2005 SE FRONTIER OFF THE LOT ,AND ONCE AGAIN THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE CONTACT REALIZED THAT HE MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THE SECOND GEAR. THE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AND POPPING OUT OF GEAR WILL CAUSE ABNORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE CONTACT CONSIDERED THIS PROBLEM DANGEROUS. IT NEVER HAPPENED WHILE USING 4-WHEEL DRIVE. IT COULD CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION DEPENDING ON THE ROAD BEING TRAVERSED, SUCH AS EXPOSURE TO DROPS AND/OR THE INCLINE ON NARROW MOUNTAIN ROADS. THROUGH A LAWYER THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT FIX THE TRANSMISSION BUT WOULD GIVE HIM $3000 FOR TIME AND INCONVENIENCE. THE CONTACT REFUSED, THE OFFER, AND INSISTED THAT TRANSMISSION WILLGET WORSE, AND WOULD HAVE TO USE THE $3000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION.*AK UPDATED 1/4/2006 - *NM

I BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ORDERED A CATALETIC CONVERTER ON 5-19-05 BUT UNTILL NOW THEY DONT HAVE THE PART AND TOLD ME TO CALL NISSAN FACTORY INQUIRING ABOUT MY CATALETIC CONVERTER? I BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD FOLLOW-UP OR TRACK WHEN IS THE PART COMING, I DONT GET ANY ANSWER EXCEPT THAT THE P/U IS NEW AND HARD TO GET THE PARTS IN. DEALER FOUND NO PROBLEMS. 2ND TIME 5/26/05 7061 LOOSENESS IN FRONT END (STEERING) DEALER SAID THEY HAD CHECKED AND TIGHTENED ALL SUSPENSION FR TO REAR. 3RD TIME 6/23/05 9,644 MI. LOOSENESS IN FRONT END (STEERING) DEALER FINALLY PUT ON FRONT END MACH AND CHECKED. MINOR ADJUSTMENT ON TOE IN. COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH LOOSENESS IN STEERING. THE "DIFFERENTIAL LOCK" (DIF LOCK) DASH LIGHT GOES ON AFTER A PERIOD OF DRIVING. AFTER AWHILE, THE DIF LOCK LIGHT TURNS OFF & THE ABS & SLIP DASH LIGHTS COME ON. AT FIRST, THE DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. AFTER ADDITIONAL DRIVING BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A CONTROL MODULE WHICH CONTROLS ALL OF THESE FEATURES.
THE OUR SIDE MIRROR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB TRUCK CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO ELIMINATE A BLIND SPOT. THE MIRROR IS ELECTRIC, AND IS ELECTRIC HEATED, AND WILL NOT ADJUST AT THE ANGLE NEEDED TO SEE CARS NEXT TO YOU. THIS MEANS I MUST ALWAYS TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD AND TURN MY HEAD TO LOOK FOR CARS. MY OTHER TRUCKS AND CARS DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM, SO I KNOW THAT NISSAN COULD CORRECT IT WITH A DIFFERENT MIRROR MOTOR. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT IT AND GOTTEN BACK AN UNSATISFACTORY FORM LETTER. *AK
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH ENGINEERING DEFECTS CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT IS SUBJECT TO FAIL DUE TO RUST. **CC THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER MUST HAVE RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY HAVE SINCE ADDED GREASE FITTINGS. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE METAL PART THAT PROTRUDES FROM THE TAILGATE TO THE BODY OF THE TRUCK WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE TAILGATE. DUE TO INSUFFICIENT WELDING, THE ORIGINAL INNER HALF OF THE TAILGATE HINGE CAN POSSIBLY BREAK. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO STOP THE TAILGATE FROM FALLING. *JB
