TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER SE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE RADIATOR RUPTURED. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO BEGAN SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO E REPLACED AS THE ANTIFREEZE MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH A 140,000 ON IT'S BEEN A GOOD TRUCK UP TILL KNOW. SO IT JUST SITS IN THE YARD COLLECTING DUST.GOING TO COST ABOUT $6000 TO FIX. THIS IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD FIX,FOR THEY KNEW THEY GOT PROBLEMS WITH THESE RADIATOR IN THESE TRUCKS AND SUV.AND THE TRANSMISSION TOO HELP PLEASE NOW I AM LAID OFF SO I DO NOT HAVE WORK OR MONEY TO FIX THIS TRUCK SO NISSAN HAS TO FIXED FOR FREE HELP ALL THOSE WHO PASS THE 80,000 MILES AND I STILL NEED TO MAKE 7 MORE PAYMENTS ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, SHE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A TURN AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER A VOLUNTARY RECALL ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER PERTAINING TO THE ECM RELY. THE REMEDY REPAIR FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,088.

I PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER IN 2006. IN 2010 I NOTICED MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A MECHANIC WHO PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. THE COMPUTER READ THAT THE SENSORS WERE BAD. I REPLACED ALL THE SENSORS MYSELF AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE THAT THIS IS A BIG ISSUE WITH FRONTIERS. IT'S DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD AND CAUSES PROBLEMS WHEN TRYING TO GET THE TRUCK TO PASS INSPECTION. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WARNING WHEN AN ISSUE LIKE THIS IS HAPPENING FOR CONSUMERS. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AT 95,000 MILES FOR THE FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, PROBLEM IS THEY ONLY WARRANTY THE PART TO 75000 MILES. THE ISSUE DIDN'T START UNTIL 90,0000 MILES. *TR
IN NOVEMBER 2010 MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. 3 MONTHS AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW TRANSMISSION, I DISCOVERED I HAD TO HAVE THE RADIATOR REPLACED BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. THE NEW TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN RUIN DUE TO A FAULTY RADIATOR INSTALL IN THE 2005 FRONTIERS BY NISSAN. *TR
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER IPDM MODULE DEFECTIVE CAUSING CAR TO SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES IN TRAFFIC. CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AT ANY SPEED IN WHICH YOU CAN NO LONGER HAVE THE ABILITY TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. AS A CONSEQUENCE, OTHER CARS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO OR HAVE THE TIME TO MOVE AROUND YOUR VEHICLE IN TIME. THERE ARE GREAT NUMBERS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME IPDM ISSUE ON MANY NISSANS ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OR SOMEONE LOOSING THEIR LIFE. IT HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ENTERING A BUSY HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST POWER SUDDENLY AND SHUT OFF. I WAS LEFT HELPLESS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT STRUCK. I OWNED A NISSAN FRONTIER 2005 AND JUST LATELY I NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE ASSY NOT WORKING WHEN I PUT FULL TANK FUEL AND YET THE GAUGE STILL READS ZERO. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM NISSAN THAT INDEED THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2005 FRONTIER FOR FUEL GAUGE FAILURES. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE NEAREST NISSAN REPAIR SHOP AND BUT THEY DON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL SINCE MY MILEAGE IS MORE THAN 90K MILES AND THEY SAID THE RECALL HAD LAPSE ALREADY. I REFUTED THAT I JUST RECEIVED THE LETTER LAST WEEK AND HOW COME IT HAS LAPSED ALREADY. BUT STILL THEY ASK ME TO PAY MORE THAT $400 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
2005 FRONTIER RAN OUT OF GAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE SENSOR. TOOK INTO DEALER AND THE DEALER HELD CAR HOSTAGE UNTIL DIAGNOSTICFEE WAS PAID. TOLD IT WAS A DEFECTIVE IPDM. LOOKED AROUND AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM DEALERSHIP UNDERSTANDS. TRUCK BROKE DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT START MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER IS ERRATIC AND NOT CORRECT. I HAVE A SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON NOW. THE CODE IS P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. NISSAN CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL FOR 2006 FRONTIERS AND A LITTLE RESEARCH ON SOME NISSAN FORUMS SHOWS MANY 2005 MODELS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE $600+ TO FIX MY FUEL GAUGE. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD INCLUDE THE 2005 FRONTIERS IN THE RECALL. ALSO, NISSAN SERVICE BULLETIN NTB07-069B INCLUDES THE 2005 FRONTIER. *TR
CONCERNING MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER 4X4 NISMO. I NOTICED MY DTE (DISTANCE TO EMPTY) INDICATOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT READ ---- AND THEN 0. SHORTLY AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS INFORMED IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AT X.NISSANHELP.COM AND OTHER SITES. AFTER SEARCHING, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A SAFETY RECALL WAS MADE BY NISSAN. ACCORDING TO ALL ACCOUNTS SOMETHING IN THE FUEL SYSTEM IS FAULTY AND CORRODES OVER TIME. EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING IN THE RANGE OF 39,000 TO 80,000 + MILES. SINCE THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER. WHY SHOULD CUSTOMERS HAVE TO WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS? ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. COST OF REPAIR RANGES FROM $300-600. *TR
ON MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER TRUCK THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHTS COMES ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. ONE CANNOT TELL HOW MANY MILES ARE LEFT IN DRIVING ON THE TANK OF FUEL DUE TO IMPROPER REPORTS BY THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER ALONG WITH THE IMPROPER READING ON THE FUEL GAUGE, CREATING A HAZARDOUS CONDITION FOR TRAVEL, ESPECIALLY DURING NIGHT DRIVING AND IN MOUNTAIN PASS CONDITIONS IN WINTER. DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR, BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACE AS THE CURRENT RECALL ONLY GOES TO 72K MILES. THIS PROBLEM STARTED PAST 81K MILES ON MY VEHICLE. IT IS APPARENT THIS PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC AND A REAL ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS HARD-BENT ON NOT COVERING, IF THEY DON'T HAVE TO. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO AS MY TRUCK HAS TOO MANY MILES ON IT. I ADVISED THEM THAT THEY SHOULD COVER THE ISSUE, GIVEN ITS QUITE APPARENT THERE IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM AT HAND. THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AS THE RECALL DOES NOT EXTEND THAT FAR OUT AND THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FIX IT, I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
FILLED UP 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH GAS. AFTER TURNING THE TRUCK BACK ON THE FUEL GAGE DROPPED TO EMPTY. THEN, WHEN I STARTED DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT HAS NOT WENT OFF AND THE FUEL GAUGE WILL NOT GO BACK UP EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM POST OFFICE IN AUGUST 2010 TRUCK WOULD NOT EXCEED 35 MPH AND STARTED TO SHAKE INTENSELY. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED $9500 TO FIX, I WAS OVER MILEAGE BY ABOUT 1500 MILES SO ALL OUT OF POCKET. I PARKED IT IMMEDIATELY DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS, MUCH DUE TO A $565 PAYMENT FOR A $30K NEW TRUCK FOR 5PLUS YEARS. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA DENIED ME ANY ASSISTANCE, AND WAS ACTUALLY MORE RUDE THAN THE HAVE THE LEAST BIT OF EMPATHY WHILE I WAS TOLD I DID REACH THE TOP PERSON WHO WAS THE FINAL SAY. MANY MONTHS PASSED AND I REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND OTHER THINGS, SO IT APPEARED AS I SAVED THE TRANS FROM HARM BY PARKING IT BUT NOW AT 98000 MILES THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON CODING AN AT BRAKE ISSUE WHILE THE TRANNY IS GETTING JUMPY AND SLUGGISH AGAIN. QUICK SEARCH RETURNS A BIG EXPENSE AND CROSS CONTAMINATION MOST LIKELY DID OCCUR AND CAN END UP COSTING ME WELL OVER $40000 IN THE LONG RUN FOR A MIDSIZE TRUCK THAT I HAVE OWNED AND TOOK GOOD CARE OF SINCE NEW AND I CANT EVEN GET RID OF IT NOW EXCEPT FOR LOSING EVEN MORE MONEY...VERY UNHAPPY AS AN OWNER OF 4 NISSANS IN MY TIME I REALLY EXPECTED A QUALITY PRODUCT, NOW I WORRY ABOUT WHEN IT COULD GO, AS I WAS RECENTLY LAID OFF I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR REPAIRS OR ANOTHER CAR. *TR
WHINING NOISE FROM FRONT OF ENGINE. DIAGNOSED AS TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILING. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE. DEALER COVERED 300 DOLLARS BUT AFTER 20 DAYS AND 13 PHONE CALLS, NISSAN USA REFUSED TO PARTICIPATE IN REPAIR OR DISCUSS THE ISSUE. CONCERN FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 80,000 WHICH DOES VERY LITTLE FOR THOSE OF US THAT KEEP OUR VEHICLES A LONG TIME. *TR
CLUTCH BREAK BAND SOLENOID FAILED. LOST ALL POWER TO MY VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. $1000 FOR THE PART $400 FOR THE LABOR $100 FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID. *TR
HAD BEEN GETTING SOME NOISES FROM THE TRANSMISSION FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BUT MECHANIC NEVER CAUGHT THE REAL ISSUE. TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING 100KM/H, OVERDRIVE AND 4TH GEARS NO LONGER WORKED. WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND DO QUICK INTERNET SEARCH WHERE IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT MY PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO ENGINE COOLANT GETTING MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION OIL DUE TO FAILED COOLER INSIDE RADIATOR. OPENED UP RADIATOR CAP WHICH CONFIRMED THIS FACT, TRANNY OIL FLOATING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE COOLANT. COSTS FOR REBUILDING TRANSMISSION OVER $5,000, HOOKED UP OIL TO EXTERNAL COOLER ALREADY IN THE TRUCK, THEREFORE SAVED COST OF REPLACING RADIATOR (BYPASSED THIS COOLER). THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT, NOTHING DO WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NISSAN WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE REPAIR. *TR
I REFUELED WHEN MY FUEL GAUGE READ 1/4, WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK UP THE GAUGE STILL ONLY SAID 1/4 TANK EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED UP WITH 16 GALLONS. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE THERE APPEAR TO BE THOUSANDS OF INSTANCES OF THE SAME OCCURRENCE HAPPENING TO NISSAN FRONTIERS, AND XTERRAS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT WHICH NEEDS TO RECTIFIED WITH A RECALL. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE PRE-OWNED. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD 'AS-IS', THE DEALER REFUSED TO FIX THE GAS GAUGE CONCERN WHEN I DISCOVERED IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. AS LONG AS I SET THE TRIP ODOMETER WHEN I FILLED UP WITH GAS & I WAS THE ONLY ONE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THIS WORKED FINE. HOWEVER, IN THE PAST YEAR I HAVE BEEN HAVING FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVE MY VEHICLE & THEY DON'T KNOW OR FORGET TO SET THE TRIP ODOMETER. TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR I HAD THIS VEHICLE RUN OUT OF GAS WITH ME. THE LAST TIME IT RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE I-10 BRIDGE CROSSING THE MISSISSIPPI SOUND. NOT THE BEST PLACE TO BE AT NIGHT' THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WHO CAME TO GET ME TOLD ME THAT NISSAN HAD A RECALL NOTICE ON THE FRONTIERS FOR THEIR GAS SENDING UNITS. NISSAN ELECTED NOT TO REPAIR THIS CONCERN BECAUSE THEY STATED MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER GAS GAUGE READS 1/4 FULL WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY. CAUSES ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I DRIVE WITH A GALLON OF GAS IN TRUCK BED, SO WHEN I RUN OUT I CAN GET TO A GAS STATION. I HAVE TO STAND ON THE ROAD WITH TRAFFIC GOING BY TO POUR THE GAS IN WHEN IT RUNS OUT, IT'S VERY DANGEROUS TO RUN OUT OF GAS WHEN THE GAUGE INDICATES THERE IS GAS IN THE TANK. NISSAN RECALLED 2006 TO 2008 FRONTIERS BUT NOT 2005. I ASKED NISSAN DUE TO THE PRODUCTION YEAR 2005 AND IDENTICAL PROBLEM ON THE 2005, COMPARED TO THE 2006- 2008 RECALL, TO PLEASE REPAIR THEY REPLIED NO, ITS NOT PART OF THE RECALL . HOW DO I HOLD NISSAN RESPONSIBLE FOR ISSUING A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *TR
AT ABOUT 85,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, WHILE CRUISING AT AROUND 40 MPH THE GEARS DROPPED AND STUTTERED. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DOCUMENTED MY CONCERN AND THE INCIDENT. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND ONLY CAME UP WITH A FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION AND REPLACE IT FOR $475. AT 90,000 MILES I DESCRIBED THE SAME CONCERN, WHICH THEY DOCUMENTED, AT A LOWER MPH AND THEY FLUSHED/REPLACED TRANS AND RADIATOR FLUID AND REPLACED THE RADIATOR ITSELF FOR $1600. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR APPROXIMATELY $6000. NISSAN HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, IT STANDS TO REASON THAT THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO COOLANT GETTING INTO A LUBRICANT. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77800.

THE GAUGE WOULD NOT MOVE FROM EMPTY DESPITE THE LEVEL OF GASOLINE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,960.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER AND THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROADWAY EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGES INDICATED 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS REMAINING. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A ROADWAY WITH A TRAVEL SPEED OF 35MPH AND NOT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I HAD TO PUSH MY VEHICLE TO THE ROADSIDE AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FROM A FAMILY MEMBER. I CONTACTED THE DEALER TO FIND THAT THE VEHICLE IS KNOW TO HAVE A FAILURE OF THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE RECALLED 2006-2010 MODELS OF THE NISSAN FRONTIER BUT THE 2005 MODEL USING THE SAME PART WAS NOT. I HAD TO PAY THE DEALER AN 89.95 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO CONFIRM WHAT THEY ALREADY TOLD ME AND THEN PAY 470.00 ADDITIONAL IN PART AND LABOR FEES. HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT, GET A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND HAVE MY DRIVELINE REPLACE BECAUSE IT WAS BLOWN. THE TRUCK HAD 94K WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS. I AM CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIND A POSSIBLE COOLANT LEAK. I CAN SMELL IT BUT CAN'T FIND WHERE IT IS COMING FROM. *TR

THE REPAIR WAS AN ESTIMATED COST OF $6,000. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,500.

HAVE A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH APPROX. 62,000 MILES. WENT TO FILL THE GAS TANK AND WHEN DONE NOTICED THE GAUGE DID NOT GO UP AT ALL. ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. AS I DROVE THE GAUGE SLOWLY WENT UP TO FULL AND THE DTE READING ADJUSTED TO THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE TO EMPTY. EVENTUALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW DAYS. FILLED THE TANK AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. CHECKED ON LINE AND SEEN THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER YET. *TR
