THE FUEL GAUGE AND SENDING UNIT ARE DEFECTIVE BOTH HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY NISSAN TWICE AND BOTH CONTINUE TO FAIL ON A WEAKLY BASIS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL ON THE INTERSTATE WILE THE GAUGE READS A HALF TANK NISSAN REFUSES TO FIX SINCE THE TRUCK IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT UNUSUAL SHAKING AND HARD VIBRATIONS. THE DEALER ADVISED THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE COOLANT SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CROSS CONTAMINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER BEING UTILIZED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 91,000.
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER HAS A KNOWN FUEL GAUGE ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2006+ FRONTIERS THAT HAVE THE SAME EXACT PART. THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ATTACHED TO THE GAS TANK IS KNOWN TO GO BAD, AND IS COVERED BY NISSAN UNDER THE RECALL, WHICH DOESN'T INCLUDE THE PROBLEMATIC 2005 MODELS OUT THERE. SEE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000. THE RESULT IS THAT THE GAS GAUGE AND COMPUTER ESTIMATES OF "DISTANCE UNTIL EMPTY" ARE GROSSLY ERRONEOUS AND REQUIRE CONSTANT MONITORING OF THE RANGE. *TR
1. WHEN I FILL MY ,2005 NISSAN FRONTIER XE ,UP WITH GAS OR IT IS TO LOW ON GAS MY FUEL GAUGE WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 MODEL. 2. THE FAILURE IS WITH MY FUEL SENDING UNIT. IT OCCURS ALL THE TIME. IT PROHIBITS ME FROM READING MY GAS LEVEL. 3. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY NISSAN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PART I NEED TO FIX IT CANNOT BE PURCHASED THROUGH THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY SAY THE UNIT IS ON RESTRICTION DUE TO THE RECALL ON THE 2006 MODEL. THIS SAME PART IS COVERED IN THE 2006 RECALL BUT NOT FOR THE 2005 MODEL AND NO ONE CAN ANSWER WHY. *TR
TOOK 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER TO FILL UP GAS. FILLED UP AND GAS GAUGE WENT CRAZY WHICH TRIGGERED SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WHICH MEANS I FAIL MY EMISSIONS, NOW I HAVE TO SPEND 600 TO REPAIR, 300 FOR CAR TAGS, 50 FOR EMISSIONS TEST, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. *TR
FUEL TANK LEVEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR. I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. VEHICLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM ARE: 2005-2007 FRONTIERS, XTERRAS, AND PATHFINDERS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE WITH SO MANY OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE NOT KNOWING THE CORRECT LEVEL OF FUEL IN YOUR VEHICLE. SOMEONE COULD RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND PUT THEIR LIVE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S IN JEOPARDY. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING AROUND APPROX. 39,000 TO 50,000 MILEAGE ON ODOMETER. *TR

SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON STATING: CODE P0463 (FUEL LEVEL SENSOR MALFUNCTION) PROBLEM JUST STARTED. HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED
FUEL SENDING UNIT FOR THE 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE LATEST NISSAN RECALL OF 2006-2009 MODELS. THERE ARE COUNTLESS PEOPLE WITH THIS TRUCK WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL PROBLEM, YET THAT MODEL YEAR IS NOT INCLUDED BY NISSAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 55 MPH, THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR FAILED AND WOULD NOT READ FUEL LEVELS. IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WOULD RESET HIS ODOMETER AT EVERY FILL-UP TO PREVENT RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND HE WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

FUEL SENSORS IN MY FUEL SENDING UNIT ARE BAD . THIS HAS CAUSED IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER ON THE HIGHWAY ; AS THE FUEL LEVEL READS QUARTER TANK, BUT IS ACTUALLY EMPTY. NISSAN JUST RECALLED SOME 540,000 ,2006 AND UP VEHICLES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT EXCLUDED THE FIRST YEAR OF THE SECOND GENERATION FRONTIER MODELS. IT IS EASY TO FIND HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THE 2005 EDITIONS ALONE. I AM GETTING A CAR CODE OF P0463 WHICH INDICATES THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING IN MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. MY GAS NEEDLE DROPPED FROM 1/2 FULL TO EMPTY IN A FEW SECONDS. I RAN OUT OF GAS BEFORE I COULD GET TO A GAS STATION. *TR
PROBLEM WITH FUEL GAUGE ON 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER PICK UP TRUCK. AFTER FILLING TANK, FUEL GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY, TURN ON LOW FUEL LIGHT, AND TURN ON SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. AFTER A DAY, THE FUEL GAUGE WILL BEGIN WORKING AGAIN (SLOWLY RETURNS TO CORRECT LEVEL) AND EVENTUALLY THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WILL GO OUT. PROCESS REPEATS EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS RE-FUELED. *TR

NISSAN FRONTIER 4.0 SE CREW CAB FUEL SENDING UNIT IS DEFECTIVE. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN BUT NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO DO A RECALL. ANY AMOUNT OF RESEARCH ON THE ENGINE CODE P0463 WILL TURN UP 100S OF PROBLEMS. MINE HAS STOPPED WORKING MAKING THE GAS HAND SLOW TO RESPOND AND MUST BE REPLACED. NISSAN HAS ISSUED A NEW PART WITH THE SERVICE BULLETIN SO MAYBE REPLACING IT WILL LAST, BUT STILL SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE TRUCKS ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAN LEAD TO FAILURE AND A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVEN'T HAD THE FULL EXTENT OF THIS BUT ITS STARTING TO SHOW SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
AT AROUND 48 OR 49 THOUSAND MILES, MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. ALSO, MY FUEL GAGE FAILED. I TOOK MY TRUCK FOR SCHEDULED EMISSIONS TEST AND THE TRUCK FAILED. THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CAME UP PO463 "FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE". TOLD BY DEALER THAT IT WAS A 650 TO 900 DOLLAR REPAIR AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. *TR

I AM JOINING THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER NISSAN FRONTIER OWNERS THAT HAVE A FAILED FUEL SENDING UNIT. WHEN I GET TO 1/4 OF A TANK, THE GAUGE FALLS TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. I FILL IT UP IMMEDIATELY SINCE I DON'T WANT THE TRUCK TO STALL LIKE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. I ONLY HAVE 40K MILES ON MY 2005 MODEL. *TR

I HAD JUST PICKED MY VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER HAVING HAD THEM PERFORM SEVERAL REPAIRS. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 OR 15 MILES, AND WITH APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WOULD COST $463. I PERFORMED RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER CAR OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THE UNIT WILL CORRODE AFTER JUST SEVERAL YEARS OF USE. I ALSO FOUND THAT A SIMILAR PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED. HOWEVER, ALTHOUGH A SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS STILL BEING PUT ON THE CUSTOMER. SINCE THIS IS SUCH A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM THAT INCLUDES AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE CAR IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL AND THE INSTALLATION OF A BETTER DESIGNED UNIT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD BECOME STUCK AT A QUARTER OF A TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE FILLED THE TANK, THE FUEL LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE BEYOND THE QUARTER MARK. THEREFORE HE MIGHT RUN OUT OF FUEL BECAUSE OF THE INCORRECT INDICATION ON THE FUEL GAUGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.

IT WOULD SHOW EMPTY, THEN THE CORRECT READING AND WHEN THE TANK WAS HALF-FULL, WOULD INDICATE ANOTHER INCORRECT READING. HE NOTICED THE FAILURE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FUEL GAUGE ASSEMBLY, THE PACKING FUEL GAUGE WAS REPLACED AT THAT TIME. HE LATER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.

THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL AND THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT IT WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE $500. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR $273. WHEN HE CALLED THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER HE WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS OR WARRANTIES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,014.

WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL ON NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP TRUCKS? THEY HAVE HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REPORTED ONLINE ABOUT TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO CROSS CONTAMINATION OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ENGINE COOLANT DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION COOLER PIPE DESIGN. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. ALSO I HAVE A FAILED GAS GAUGE SENDING UNIT. AGAIN THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ONLINE. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES FOR THE SAME REASON, YET NOT ON THE NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP. THE RECALLS ON OTHERS WAS ISSUED BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE FALSE READINGS OF FUEL LEVELS AND A PERSON COULD RUN OUT OF GAS IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. THE SAME PROBLEM CAN OCCUR WITH THE NISSAN FRONTIER BECAUSE THE GAUGE GIVES AN INACCURATE READING OR SHOWS EMPTY YET THERE IS FUEL IN THE TANK AND THE OPERATOR WOULD HAVE NO IDEA IF HE IS ABOUT TO RUN OUT OF GAS OR NOT. BACK TO THE TRANSMISSION, THE TRANSMISSION CAN GO OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT NOTICE DUE TO THE CROSS CONTAMINATION. THERE IS NO WAY TO NO IF THERE IS A PROBLEM UNTIL IT WAS TO LATE. THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL AND THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM UNLESS YOU CHECK THE RADIATOR PERIODICALLY. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO FIND THE PROBLEM WITH OUT HAVING AN ACTUAL BREAKDOWN. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A RADIATOR, HAVE MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY CLEANED OUT TWICE TO REMOVE ANY COOLANT, AND NOW MY TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. I AM ASKING FRO AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE NISSAN FRONTIER PROBLEMS AND THE NUMBERS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. I AM SURE THERE WOULD BE A BASIS FOR A RECALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER THE FAILURE BUT THE RPM WERE STILL ABNORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

HE WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE HOWEVER WHEN CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS ADVISED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V092000: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE OTHER POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 05 NISSAN FRONTIER CAME ONE LAST WEEK. AFTER CHECKING THE ERROR CODES P0463, IT SEEMS THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. SHORTLY AFTER DISCOVERING THE PROBLEM I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT REPAIR AND COST. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED $600 FOR THE REPAIR AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER, AND THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIX IT UNTIL NEXT WEEK. TWO DAYS AFTER I CHECKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE WHEN MY TRUCK STOPPED FUNCTIONING. IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC I HAD TO COAST MY VEHICLE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. *TR
MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS ONE DAY. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THE CODE READ WHICH SAID FUEL SENSOR. THE GAUGE SOMETIMES WORKS AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T WHICH CAUSED US TO RUN OUT OF GAS ONE DAY SHORTLY AFTER THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY WE WERE ON A QUIET RURAL ROAD AT THE TIME, IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT AND I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WELL KNOWN TO NISSAN. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS. *TR
AFTER FUELING TO A FULL TANK, I NOTICED THE GAS GAUGE DID NOT BUDGE OFF THE 1/4 MARK FOR 20+ MILES. EVER-SO SLOWLY, THE GAUGE FINALLY READ "F" BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS REVEALED THE ERROR CODE PO463 AND A BIT OF RESEARCH/ELBOW GREASE, THE PROBLEM CAME DOWN TO THE FUEL SENSOR UNIT. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, WITH QUITE THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ACROSS THE INTERNET. THIS ISSUE IS CONSTANT AFTER EVERY FUELING. WORSE, THE LEVELS ARE INACCURATE AND COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FUEL PUMP BY RUNNING TO EMPTY. THE ONLY SAFE WAY I CAN OPERATE MY VEHICLE IS BY METICULOUSLY EYEING THE ODOMETER. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES. I CAN ONLY HOPE THE WARRANTY COVERS THIS FAULTY PART, BECAUSE MY RESEARCH INDICATES A COST OF $300-$600 FOR REPAIRS. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHEN I HIT 50,000 AROUND OCTOBER 2009 THE DTE, DISTANCE TILL EMPTY READ"---". THE SERVICE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. WHENEVER I FILL UP WITH FUEL IT TAKES DAYS FOR THE GAS GAUGE TO READ. IT STAYS ON EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME AND THE EMPTY LIGHT IS ON ALL OF THE TIME. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ON LINE FOR FIXES BUT EVERYTHING POINTS TO FAULTY SENDER UNIT. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS IN THIS ECONOMIC TIME. I THINK COMPANIES THAT MAKE FAULTY PARTS BY THE BILLIONS SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM OR STOP DOING BUSINESS. *TR
AFTER GAS TANK WENT DOWN TO 1/4 TANK, GOT A FILL UP AT A LOCAL GAS STATION. PULLED OFF AND NOTICE THAT THE GAS GAUGE WAS NOT READING THAT IT WAS FULL. AFTER RIDING A MILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP THINKING I JUST NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE; THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN WAS CHARGED $100 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST CONFIRMED: REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY RECOMMENDED AFTER THE SENDING UNIT GOES BAD. CAUSING NO READING ON GAS GAUGE EVEN AFTER GAS TANK IS FILLED IN TERMS MAKING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAIN ON CONSISTENTLY. I BROUGHT THIS TRUCK USED STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THE PART ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY BUT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS FROM 2004-2007.... *TR
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER, GAS GAUGE IS MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN TANK IS FILLED GAUGE READS ANYWHERE FROM EMPTY TO 3/4 FULL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON CONTINUOUSLY. TOOK TO MECHANIC WHO ISOLATED THE PROBLEM TO THE SENDING UNIT IN THE TANK, REPAIR WOULD REQUIRE TANK REMOVAL AND WOULD COSTS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. I COULD NOT AFFORD, SO HAVE BEEN USING MILEAGE TO ESTIMATE FUEL USAGE. WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL NISSAN HAD FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS, I WAS SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED THAT THE CUTOFF WAS THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. THE RECALL SHOULD BE FOR ALL UNITS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR WAS OPERATING IMPROPERLY, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE WARNING PANEL. HE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED, WHICH INDICATED THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT FAILED. HE HAD NOT YET SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO TAKE LIABILITY FOR ANY FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 64,000.
I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS AND WENT TO FILL UP. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON THE CAR, AT WHICH POINT THE NEEDLE DID NOT REGISTER THE FULL TANK NOR MY DIGITAL FUEL SENSOR ON THE DASHBOARD. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AFTER 30K MILES. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH, I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER. IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YRS OLD. IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER!! WHY WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. COST OF REPAIR RANGES FROM $300-600." *TR
AFTER GETTING GAS I STARTED MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER AND AS I ENTERED BACK ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STALLED. THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT AND THE 4WD WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER ROLLING ABOUT 50 FT IT STARTED RUNNING NORMALLY AGAIN. I VISITED MY NISSAN DEALER ON 9/10/09 AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THAT AFTERNOON AFTER GETTING GAS IT STALLED AFTER STARTING IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS ON. I COULD NOT RESTART IT. THIS TIME IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY FOUND THAT AN ENGINE ELECTRONIC MODULE HAD FAILED BUT WAS ON NATIONWIDE BACK-ORDER AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN IT WOULD BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A LARGE PROBLEM IN 2006, 2007 AND SOME IN 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER AND TITAN TRUCKS. IF THIS ITEM IS IN NATIONWIDE BACK-ORDER IT MUST BE A MAJOR PROBLEM AND A DANGEROUS ONE IF A VEHICLE'S ENGINE STALLS WHILE IN OPERATION ON ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHENEVER THE CONTACT WOULD ADD GASOLINE TO THE VEHICLES CAPACITY, HE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THAT THE TANK WAS HALF FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT HAD THE FLOAT VALVE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS .THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63000.
2005 NISSAN FRONTIER SHOWING ERROR CODE P0463, WHICH MEANS FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. DRIVING ALONG AS NORMAL. STOPPED TO FILL UP. AFTER LOADING 18 GALLONS IN THE TANK THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT MOVE. AFTER DRIVING A BIT THE GAUGE REGISTERED FULL AND THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYS LIT AND THE FUEL REGISTER IS UNRELIABLE. *TR
