THE TRUCK HESITATED TO MOVE AT A STOP. (IT DRAGGED REALLY HARD AND IT WAS SLOW) PER MY SON DESCRIBED, NOT SURE IF HE WAS ON THE FREEWAY OR THE STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY MECHANIC. ON TUE OCTOBER 25, 2016. AFTER DIAGNOSED, HE TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILED. IT NEEDS TO BE REBUILT OR BUY A NEW ONE. THE COST FOR A REBUILT ONE IS $2,800 AND A NEW ONE FROM NISSAN DEALERSHIP IS $5,000. I DECIDED TO GO FOR A REBUILT ONE. THIS HAPPENED ON TUE OCTOBER 25, 2016. THIS TRUCK I BOUGHT USED IN MARCH 2016 AT 114,674 MILES FOR $10,000. I WENT ON LINE TO SEARCH FOR SOMETHING RELATED TO NISSAN FRONTIER 2006 TRANSMISSION AND I FOUND OUT THE WEBSITE RELATING TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I DID CONTACT NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 26, 2016 AND THEY TOLD ME TO SEND IN THE INVOICE AFTER THE REPAIR FOR REIMBURSEMENT. UNTIL THE REIMBURSEMENT TAKES PLACE, I AM STILL NERVOUSLY WAITING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 133,000.
DRIVING ON A TRIP TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND JERKING. HAD TO DRIVE SLOW IN THIRD GEAR WITH IT STILL SLIPPING. RADIATOR FLUID WAS FOAMY. TRUCK STILL IN DRIVEWAY. FOUR TO FIVE HOUR TRIP ON HIGHWAY WITH SOME HILLS DIDN'T THINK I WOULD MAKE IT HOME. A FEW YEARS BACK WE RECEIVED A SERVICE NOTICE OF FAILED RADIATOR. TOOK TRUCK TO NISSAN AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE UNLESS THERE WAS A PROBLEM. *TR
DUE TO DESIGN FLAW RESULTING IN MIXING OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RADIATOR FLUID, TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHENEVER FAILURE OCCURRED. I HAVE SINCE BEEN MADE AWARE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MANY NISSAN VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR SYSTEMS. DOCUMENTATION OF TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IS NOT CURRENTLY IN MY POSSESSION, HOWEVER IF NECESSARY, ALL DOCUMENTATION CAN BE OBTAINED FROM TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITY.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER COOLIN LEAKING IN TO TRANSMISSION
TRANSMISSION IS BINDING DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. FLUID IS BUBBLED AND LOOKS LIKE POACHED EGG CAUSING OVERHEATING. TRANSMISSION COLOR IS NOT CORRECT, SAME PROBLEM AS UNDER INVESTIGATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF FUEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO DISPLAY THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS FLUID CONTAMINATION IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
MY TRUCK HAS THE PROMBLEM OF CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10VO75000 BUT NISSAN SAID NOT COVER BY MY VIN IS THIS MORE WIDE SPREAD IN OTHER MODLE TRUCK?
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES WERE COMPROMISED IN THE RADIATOR. COOLANT CONTAMINATED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RUINED THE TRANSMISSION SPECIFICALLY CAUSING THE RELAY IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE STARTER CIRCUIT TO MALFUNCTION. THERE WAS THEREFORE NO WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG UNTIL THE TRUCK SIMPLY WOULD NOT START. THE QUOTE FROM THE DEALERSHIP IS $6,600. THIS IS PARTICULARLY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE 6 MONTHS AGO I PAID FOR A FULL INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE AND THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS PREVENTABLE, THERE WAS NO MENTION OF IT IN THE REPORT.
I HAVE A CRACKED RADIATOR THAT IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION OF MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHEN THE 2 FLUIDS MIX IT CREATES A MIXTURE CALLED TOXIC HELL STEW THAT IS IRREVERSIBLE AND WILL EVENTUALLY KILL MY 5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CODE PO463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS KNOW DEFECTIVE AND TOLD ME FOR THEM TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT ALL THEY WOULD NEED IS AN OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS WHICH I GOT FROM NISSAN OF SACRAMENTO AT MY OWN EXPENSE OF $150 WHICH WAS A STRUGGLE SINCE I'M UNEMPLOYED, I'M TOLD IT COULD SHOW THE GAUGE CAN SHOW 1/4 TANK WHEN THERE IS NO GAS IN THE CAUSING POTENTIAL STALLING IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, A SECOND VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO A THIRD VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HANDS, BACK, AND HEAD AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000. UPDATED 10/05/16*LJ *TR
ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT RESERVOIR (WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE RADIATOR) COLLAPSED CAUSING WATER, ANTIFREEZE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX. THESE FLUIDS THEN MADE THEIR WAY INTO THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION AND COOLANT RESERVOIR. THIS, IN TURN, CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY TRANSMISSION. MY TRANSMISSION THEN REQUIRED REPLACEMENT/REBUILD. THE FIRST POSSIBLE SIGN OF THE PROBLEM WAS ROUGH AUTOMATIC SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE. I THEN NOTICED A LEAK OF TRANSMISSION FLUID FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE (WHICH WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY). THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER/DRIVABILITY.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND THE FIRST GEAR SO ROUGH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING THAT THE FUEL TANK CAPACITY WAS FULL HOWEVER, THE FUEL TANK LEVEL WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I PURCHASED A USED 2006 FRONTIER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY DO NOT CHECK FOR RECALLS ON NON FORD VEHICLES. AFTER 5 MONTHS AND FIVE MILES, THE RADIATOR APPARENTLY CAUSED MY TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. WHEN IT FAILED I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS ALMOST COLLIDED INTO. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS A RECALL THAT SINCE THE PREVIOUS OWNER DIDN'T HAVE IT PERFORMED, AND THE DEALER DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT I'M LIABLE FOR $5500 IN REPAIR.
THE LOCK RING THAT HOLDS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, FUEL FILTER, & FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY HAS COME LOOSE AND THE ASSEMBLY MOVED UPWARD ABOUT INCH LEAVING A GAP ALLOWING GAS TO SPLASH OUT OF THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK WHEN FULL OF GAS OR GOING OVER A BUMP. THIS HAPPENED OVER TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE'S FUEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED AFTER A RECALL.
THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING HARD AND I BELIEVE I HAVE I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM THAT IS COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE RADIATOR FLUID IS FOAMY AND DIS-COLORED WHICH I HAVE FOUND TO MOST LIKELY BE TRANNY FLUID GETTING INTO MY RADIATOR, AND COOLANT GETTING INTO MY TRANSMISSION, WHICH THE WAY IT LOOKS, MEANS I NEED TO REPLACE MY RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. I CANNOT CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM TO HELP WITH REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY CLOSED THEIR DOORS... ONLY HAD THIS TRUCK SINCE 2/8/2016
TRANSMISSION FAILURE: ATF CONTAMINATION. RADIATOR FLUID MIXED INTO TRANSMISSION, THEREFORE RUINING BOTH TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR.
THERE IS A RECALL LISTED FOR 2006 NISSAN FRONTIERS WHERE THE GAS GAUGE DROPS TO 1/4 TANK WHEN FILLED, AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. "THE MOLDED SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL IS EMPTY." WHEN I CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA THEY LOOKED UP MY VIN AND SAID IT WAS NOT FROM A "BATCH OF CARS THAT ARE COVERED". ARE YOU KIDDING? PLEASE ADDRESS THIS WITH NISSAN...
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER SUDDENLY WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH, IT DECELERATED AND I ONLY HAD LOW GEAR ENOUGH TO BARELY MAKE IT OFF THE HWY AND OUT OF THE WAY OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. NO DASH/IDIOT LIGHTS CAME ON IDENTIFYING ANY PROBLEMS, THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THE TRANSMISSION, AND RADIATOR, AND THERMOSTAT ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED!! THEY CHARGED US $5,500. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAD 135,000 MILES, AND WAS KEPT IN GREAT CONDITION, AT TIME OF IT'S FAILURE. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF MAKING THE CONSUMER BEAR THE COST OF NISSAN'S FAULTY PARTS!! THEY ARE FLAT OUT LUCKY IF NO ONE'S BEEN INJURED, OR KILLED DUE TO THIS FAILURE! HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AS PLANNED THE VERY NEXT DAY, IN THIS TRUCK, I WONDER IF I'D BE HERE TODAY. THERE SHOULD BE NO QUESTION OR HESITATION THAT THIS "TRANSMISSION FAILURE" IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE A FULL FLEDGED RECALL. AND WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR NISSAN'S SCREW-UPS WITH OUR HARD EARNED MONEY. IT IS SIMPLY WRONG.
A FEW WEEKS AGO I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY TRUCK WOULD DROP TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD TURN ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING UP. AFTER I DROVE AROUND A FEW MILES, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD GO BACK UP TO IT'S NORMAL LEVEL. HOWEVER, OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST FEW WEEKS IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE TO THE POINT WHERE IT ALMOST ALWAYS READS EMPTY. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL FOR FAULTY FUEL SENSORS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN #10V075000). HOWEVER, AFTER CALLING NISSAN AND PROVIDING THEM WITH MY VIN, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY TRUCK WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, I'VE FOUND THAT MANY, MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS ME. SOME HAVE EVEN BEEN TOLD BY THE NISSAN REPAIR MECHANICS WHO FIXED THEIR VEHICLES THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE SAME DEFECT, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE REPORTED BATCH, OR THAT THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS DEFECT HAD ALREADY EXPIRED. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. I WALK TO WORK ALMOST EVERY DAY SO THE MILEAGE ON MY FRONTIER IS FAIRLY LOW. I'M JUST OVER 50,000 MILES SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN 2006, BUT I'M STILL AFFECTED BY THIS SERIOUS DEFECT. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DEFECT. IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT I, AND EVERY BODY ELSE WHO IS AFFECTED BUT NOT "COVERED", SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE HIGH PRICE FOR THE REPAIR.
CROSS CONTAMINATION OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE TO FACTORY DEFECT IN RADIATOR. BEGAN WITH NO HEAT SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO WARN OF ISSUE. CHANGED OUT THE THERMONSTAT AND NOTICED THE STRAWBERRY FOAMY LIQUID IN THE RADIATOR THEN SEARCH 2006 NISSAN TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON LINE. VEHICLE ALSO STOPS AND STARTS VERY, VERY, SLOWLY IN INTERSECTIONS, ON RAMPS.

DURING THE FAILURE, THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR COOLANT TANK LEAKED FLUID ONTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.

RADIATOR COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT.
WHEN FUEL TANK IS FULL, GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY UNTIL YOU DRIVE 75-150 MILES, THEN THE NEEDLE REGISTERS NORMAL FOR THE PAST YEAR AND DEALER DIDN'T FIND THE ISSUE. NOW ENGINE LIGHT REGISTERS AND INSPECTION STICKER IS BEING REFUSED.
MY VEHICLES CONTAIN A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR COOLER TANK THAT RUPTURES AND FORCES COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION THROUGH THE COOLER LINES. WHEN THE COOLANT MIXES WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID IT CREATES A FROTHY LIQUID THAT EATS VALVES, ERRODES SEALS AND CAUSES CORROSION. IT'S TOXIC, IRREVERSIBLE AND KILLED MY 5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY NISSAN FRONTIER 2006. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $3,700.00 FOR THE REPAIR OF THE TRANSMISSION. WHY NISSAN DID NOT REPAIR ALL THE CARS? THEY KNEW THAT MOST OF THE CAR WILL BRAKE PASS 100,000 MILES. LIKE MINE. ALSO WHEN YOU BUY A CAR FROM THE DEALER, THEY DO NOT TEL YOU THIS PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN AND ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAS 86,700 MILES, I ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF IT, CHANGING OIL AT 3000 MILE INTERVALS, NEVER TOWED WITH IT, ETC., ETC., WHILE DRIVING THE TRANS SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND NOBODY WAS IN BACK OF ME, WHEN I GOT IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE TIMING CHAIN AND GUIDES NEEDED REPLACEMENT PLUS THE RADIATOR LEAKED AND THE TRANS COOLER CONTAMINATED THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED AND IT COST ME NEAR $5000.00 FOR TOTAL REPAIRS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE WITH A MECHANIC, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS CONTAMINATED FROM THE TRANSMISSION OIL. IN ADDITION, THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
MY TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING SLIGHTLY AND WHEN THE FLUID WAS CHECKED, WE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS RADIATOR FLUID GETTING SUCKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. SHORTLY AFTER THAT WAS NOTICED, THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY STOPPED SHIFTING AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT HAS 100,000+ MILES ON IT SO THE WARRANTY WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME AND NEITHER WILL THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT I'VE FOUND SOME INFORMATION ON THEREFORE, IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR OVER A YEAR BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED AT THIS POINT.

BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. HAD UNDER 50K MILES. 2 MONTHS AGO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HEAT WAS NOT WORKING. HAD IT LOOKED AT SEVERAL TIMES SPENDING MONEY EACH TIME BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. LAST MONTH TRUCK STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. FOUND OUT THIS WEEK IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION/RADIATOR DUE TO A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEARS. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID MY TRUCK IS TOO OLD TO QUALIFY FOR HELP. ACCORDING TO SITES I SEE WE DO QUALIFY AND I NEED SOME HELP. IT OVERHEATED TODAY AND BROKE DOWN ON HIGHWAY AND IS NOT DRIVABLE. I NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS.

I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A CRACKED RADIATOR IN MY TRUCK THAT WAS LEAKING FLUIDS INTO MY TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS ON SUNDAY 9/27/15. THE EMPLOYEE OF MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME ABOUT THIS. THE FOLLOWING I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS AN "ONGOING" ISSUE GOING ON WITH VEHICLES THAT MATCH MY MAKE AND MODEL.

I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND LESS THAN A WEEK LATER I NOTICED A WEIRD RUMBLING NOISE AT AROUND 35-50 MPH AND 1-2 RPMS. ONE TIME WHILE I WAS BY MYSELF IN THE MOUNTAINS SCOUTING FOR AN ELK HUNTING TRIP, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD AS I WAS ISOLATED OTHERWISE DEEP IN UTAH MOUNTAINS IN THE FALL. TOOK THE TRUCK IN AND FOUND IT WAS TRANSMISSION FAILURE JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAD WRITTEN ABOUT ON THE INTERNET. EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACED TRANSMISSION FOR $100.00. 6 MONTHS LATER, I WAS STILL NERVOUS ABOUT THE ISSUE AND BEFORE A BIG TRIP I DID SOME MORE RESEARCH. PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WERE POINTING AT THE RADIATOR AND WARNED TO CHECK IT FOR TRANSMISSION OIL CONTAMINATION. CHECKED IT LAST NIGHT AND THE RADIATOR IS FULL OF TRANSMISSION OIL. TRUCK IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP.

I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER 4X4 TRUCK ON 7/28/15 AND HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED IT HAD SERIOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT INTO NISSAN OF TACOMA TO BE LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT SO THEY WILL PAY ALL BUT $3000 OF THE REPAIRS. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND OTHERS MADE BY NISSAN AND NISSAN HAS SINCE CHANGED HOW THEY BUILT THEIR CARS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD I CAN ONLY DRIVE IT SEMI SAFELY AROUND TOWN, NO GOING OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND ABSOLUTELY NO TOWING WITH IT WHICH IS WHY I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK, TO TOW MY TRAILER. I AM A DISABLED SENIOR ON A FIXED INCOME AND HAVE NO EXTRA MONEY TO FIX MUCH LESS BUY A NEW VEHICLE. I OWE AROUND $27000. I WENT TO KERRY NISSAN WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK WHEN I GOT THE NOTICE ABOUT THE CROSS CONTAMINATION OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ANTIFREEZE DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR. MY TRUCK HAD 88,000 MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE IT WAS RARE FOR THIS PROBLEM TO HAPPEN.I ASKED ABOUT PREVENTIVE MEASURES AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NONE. I ASKED ABOUT REPLACING THE RADIATOR. I WAS TOLD THAT WOULDN'T HELP BECAUSE IT WOULD BE THE SAME RADIATOR. NOW AT 108,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION IS SHOT BECAUSE IT'S FULL OF ANTIFREEZE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT, MAINTAINED, AND LOOKS LIKE NEW. THE DEALER HAS QUOTED $5,236.00 TO REPAIR. I CONTACTED NISSAN THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHO IS CHARGING ME $95.00 TO TELL ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW. NISSAN KNOWING AT THAT TIME THEY WEREN'T GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. HOW DO THEY SETTLE A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR 80,000 MILES WHEN ALL THE INCIDENTS HAPPEN CLOSER TO 100,000? THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL RECALL ON ALL THE VEHICLES AFFECTED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR WITH A REDESIGNED ONE. THIS IS SO WRONG. I WAS PLANNING ON DRIVING THIS TRUCK ANOTHER 5 YEARS.
