THE TRANSMISSION ON MY TRUCK SUDDENLY WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING DURING MY MORNING COMMUTE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE 202 LOOP IN PHOENIX. SHIFTING TO A DIFFERENT GEAR HAD THE SAME EFFECT AS STEPPING ON THE GAS, WHICH WAS THAT THE ENGINE REVVED WITH NO INCREASE OR DECREASE IN SPEED. I HAD TO COAST ACROSS 4 LANES OF FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. IT WAS AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I AM TOLD BY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXED WITH COOLANT AND THAT IT WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTICES OF ANY KIND FROM NISSAN AND WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT THIS IS A KNOWN, COMMONLY OCCURRING DEFECT AND THAT THE DEFECT MANIFESTS INSTANTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT WARNING MOST OF THE TIME. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE SYSTEM AND FOR NOT NOTIFYING ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE THE DEALER FIX IT BEFORE THEY PUT MY LIFE AND PROPERTY AND THAT OF EVERY PERSON AROUND ME AT RISK. RECENTLY MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER TRANSMISSION STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AT SPEEDS WHEN SHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR. I CHECKED THE COMPUTER ABOUT POSSIBLE PROBLEMS; THAT IS WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION LINES FAILING INSIDE OF THE RADIATOR. THE WATER WAS LEAKING INTO MY TRANSMISSION. NISSAN AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT I WAS GETTING MY TRUCK SERVICED KNEW OF THE PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS. WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISER ABOUT THE PROBLEM, HE TOLD ME MY FRONTIER HAD 7,000 OVER 100,000 MILES AND THAT WAS THE CUTOFF FOR NISSAN TO HELP. WHAT MADE ME MAD WAS THAT I HAD MY 90,000 MILE SERVICE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 01/28/2014 , PAID $523.38 AND NOTHING WAS TOLD TO ME SO I COULD TAKE ACTION TO SAVE MY TRANSMISSION!!! I SHOULD HAD BEEN TOLD OF THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION LINES BEFORE IT RUINED MY TRANS. NOW I AM OUT $3,228.78 FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THEY KNEW I HAD THE FRONTIER, WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME OF THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION LINES... I DON'T UNDERSTAND...
RADIATOR HAS A CRACK INTERNALLY AND IS LEAKING FLUID IN TO THE TRANSMISSION. COST IS $3000 TO FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SWITCHED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
CAR WOULD NOT START, TOWED TO MECHANIC. HE REPORTED TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CONTAMINATION. TO MY FAMILY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA THAT SEES LITTLE TRAFFIC NOR DOES IT HAVE GOOD CELL PHONE RECEPTION.
RADIATOR DEVELOPED LEAK AND LEAKED ANTIFREEZE INTO TRANSMISSION. DESTROYED TRANSMISSION. HAD TO HAVE TOTAL REBUILD ON TRANSMISSION AND NEW RADIATOR INSTALLED. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BLEEDING BACK INTO RADIATOR. CONTACTED 2 DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALERS WHEN IT FIRST STARTED. THEY ASSURED ME NISSAN WAS NOT HAVING ANY RADIATOR PROBLEMS. TOLD ME TO CHECK U-JOINTS AND DRIVE LINE. SAID IT WOULD BE VERY HARD TO FIND PROBLEM SINCE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT COMING ON. A FRIEND RECOMMENDED A MECHANIC AND HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG. BIG BUCKS TO FIX.
I BOUGHT A 2006 NISSAN TRUCK FROM GARY MATHEW NISSAN LAST YEAR,I WAS TOLD IT WAS CHECK OUT AND IN GOOD RUNNING SHAPE I AM A 65 YEAR OLD RECENT WINDOW NO ONE SAID NOTHING ABOUT A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION COOLER THAT COULD CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL OR THAT IT WAS FACTORY CAUSED PROBLEM THAT COULD OCCUR. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING IT KEEP SHOWING 4X4 AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON IN DASH IT WOULD LOSE POWER TO POINT IT WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL IT SIT A FEW MINUTES .I CARRIED IT NEXT DAY THE SAID IT WAS A LOSE CABLE,WENT HOME IT DID SAME THING SEVERAL TIMES AND LOST POWER ON ROAD IN TRAFFIC,TO POINT IT DIDN'T WANT TO MOVE I WENT TO DEALER RIGHT THEN. WELL THEY CAME OUT WITH A COST PAPER TO FIX IT $ 5300.00 I JUST SIT THERE COULDN'T FIGURE HOW A TRUCK I JUST GOT COULD OF TORE UP I TAKE CARE OF MY STUFF ,INCLUDING MY CARS CHECK FLUIDS ALL I CAN DO, WELL THEN A CAR SALES MAN SAID MAYBE BETTER TO TRADE,AFTER HOURS OF THIS AND ME NOT ABLE TO TRADE COULDN'T AFFORD THE 5300 MUCH LESS IN DEPT 18,000 FOR ANOTHER USED TRUCK WITH 90,000 MILES ON IT, I TOLD THEM TO FIX IT, I'D TRY BORROW MONEY,I WAS ALSO TOLD MAY GET HELP FROM NISSAN BUT LOOKED AT THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY UP TO 80,000 MILES ON THE TRANSMISSION THING. WE HAVE HAD NISSAN OR DATSUNS TOO THAT HAD OVER 200,000 MILES ON THEM AND DID FINE RIGHT UP TO BEING REPLACED, THAT'S WHY I GOT MY TRUCK,NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN, SO I AM HOPING NISSAN WILL HELP ME PAY FOR FIXING THEIR MESS UP. WHEN I GOT OUT OF COLLEGE THE FIRST THING I WANTED TO DO WAS TO BUY MY DREAM CAR. I HAD BEEN LOOKING INTO GETTING A TRUCK AND I WAS DEBATING BETWEEN MY NUMBER ONE CHOICE A NISSAN FRONTIER OR 2ND CHOICE TOYOTA TACOMA. I KNEW THE TACOMA WAS PROBABLY MORE RELIABLE IN TERMS OF MINOR PARTS YET I JUST LOVED THE DESIGN OF THE FRONTIER AND THEREFORE I BOUGHT ONE IN 2006 BRAND NEW. EVER SINCE IT HAS BEEN MY PREFERRED AND ONLY WAY OF TRANSPORTATION. I KNEW THAT MAINTAINING IT WAS IMPERATIVE THEREFORE WHEN IT CAME TO AN OIL CHANGE, CHANGE OF SUSPENSION TRUSTS, TRANSMISSION SERVICE, CHANGE OF SPARK PLUGS; IT WAS ALL DONE AT THE PROPER TIME. YET MY TRUCK STARTED GIVING ME ISSUES 4 MONTHS AGO WHEN IT WOULD SHAKE OR SHIMMER ON ROAD AND FREEWAY. DID SEVERAL TIRE ROTATIONS, DID SUSPENSION CHANGE, YET THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTED. IT ALL CAME DOWN TO A SCREECHING HALT WHEN I WAS GOING UP TO SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK FOR A HIKE WITH FRIENDS. MY FRONTIER ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED LOOSING POWER AND THEN THE GEARS WOULD JUST NOT CHANGE. EVENTUALLY MY 'ENGINE SERVICE SOON' APPEARED AND WAS FORCED TO STOP OUR TRIP. HAD TO HIRE A TOW TRUCK TO BRING DOWN THE TRUCK AND UPON SCANNING I GOT A P1759 CODE. UPON RESEARCHING I COME TO FIND OUT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH NOT ONLY THIS LINE OF TRUCK BUT ALSO XTERRA AND TITAN BRANDS. YOU CANNOT BELIEVE MY DISAPPOINTMENT. IF IT WERE SOMETHING SIMPLE I WOULDN'T MIND BUT TRANSMISSION?!? REALLY?!? BECAUSE OF SOMEBODIES' MISTAKE WHEN IT CAME TO THE ENGINEERING OF THE TRUCK?!? AND TO FIND OUT NISSAN IS JUST IGNORING THE ISSUE. TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT AND FRUSTRATION! NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOR OUR SWEET GOVERNMENT TO TAKE ACTION SINCE THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A MAJOR CORPORATION IRRESPONSIBILITY AND ULTIMATELY.... GREED. THE GAS GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING. IT WILL READ EMPTY (WITH LIGHT ON) EVEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER A FILL-UP. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, IT GIVES ERRATIC READINGS. I HAVE TO KEEP A WRITTEN NOTE ON THE MILEAGE EACH TIME I FILL UP SO THAT I DON'T ACCIDENTLY RUN OUT OF GAS

THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AT ONLY 75,000 MILES. I HAD THE RADIATOR REPLACED AFTER A BRIEF OVERHEATING ISSUE. THERE WAS A BROWN LIKE PUDDY THAT BEGAN TO DEVELOP IN THE VEHICLE'S SYSTEM AT THAT POINT AND A SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION, STALLING AND FAILING REQUIRING CONSTANT RESTARTING AND CONSTANT SITTING AND REPAIR COSTS FOR THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT ON, SO I CALLED A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN OUR PLACE AND HAVE A CHANGE OIL SERVICE. THE TECH ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT MY FUEL SENSING UNIT IS MALFUNCTIONING AND ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO HAVE AND QUOTED ME A PRICE OF OVER $400.00. I SAID NO BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD THAT AMOUNT. I RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS TYPE PROBLEM HOWEVER IT EXPIRED ALREADY. I CALLED CORPORATE NISSAN AND REQUESTED IF THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CALLED ME TODAY (5/29/2015) AND TOLD ME THEY CANNOT EXTEND THE RECALL. I THINK THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED BY NISSAN. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS OF THIS TIME (BASED ON THE SEVERAL NISSAN FORUMS I READ ON THE INTERNET.
RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED COOLANT INTO MY TRANSMISSION, KILLING THE TRANSMISSION.
THE RADIATOR COOLANT DRAINED INTO THE TRANSMISSION COUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BREAK DOWN. ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC THIS WAS DUE TO A DIFFECT ON THE MANUFACTURE OF THE RADIATOR, MY TRUCK, IN THIS CASE IS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE TOTAL AMOUNT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS WAS $3963.08. NISSAN SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE IN THIS TRUCKS.

THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE RADIATOR CAUSING THE COOLANT TO SEEP IN TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
Air bag warning light comes on, stays on. Also, the "passenger air bag not on" light comes on, stays on. Took vehicle to a Nissan dealership (ABC Nissan, Phoenix, AZ) back in April, 2015, and they stated not sure what problem was. They "reset" the warning light? However, the same problem has returned. Feel unsafe driving vehicle with the airbag warning light coming on. Also, not sure if the driver side airbag is being also affected. I am unable to locate the "repair invoice" from ABC Nissan at this time to include with this report. My vehicle only has 43,000 miles at this time. It had around 33,000 miles back in April, 2015.
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE I SEEN NOTHING PRETTY MUCH WRONG WITH IT. AFTER A WEEK OF DRIVING WITH IT I START NOTICING PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES, NOT A BIG DEAL. I FIXED THAT, THEN I NOTICE THAT MY VEHICLE STARTS ACTING UP IN CHANGING GEARS, AS WELL AS HEATING UP. SO I CHECK THE RADIATOR, THAT I NOTICE TRANSMISSION FLUID INSIDE THE RADIATOR. SO I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AFTER HEARING A RECALL, DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THEY TELL ME THAT I WOULD NEED $3500.00 AS A DEPOSIT, BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT IS POSSIBILITY THAT NOT ONLY THE RADIATOR NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, BUT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION ALSO IF THEY SEE IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. ALL THIS IN LESS THAN A MONTH. SO I CHANGE THE RADIATOR MYSELF. NOW A MONTH LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS ACTING UP ON ME. SO I ASK WHAT GOOD IS A RECALL IF I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED. WHAT GOOD IS BUYING A VEHICLE IF THE MANUFACTURES AND DEALERSHIP TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IN WHAT THEY BUILD OR SALE. I NEVER TRY TO DO THIS TO ANY CUSTOMER IN WHEREVER I WORK, EITHER THE CABLE OR PHONE COMPANY, SO WHAT MAKE NISSAN SPECIAL IN DOING THIS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. IN LESS THAT 2 MONTH AFTER I GET MY TRUCK FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I HAVE TO FIX MY TIRES, PUT A NEW RADIATOR, AND NOW A TRANSMISSION. WHAT USE IS HAVING A GOVERNMENT OR A FEDERAL SYSTEM, WHEN THE CUSTOMER IS NOT BEING HEARD, AND THE PEOPLE WITH THE MONEY CAN LIE TO THE CUSTOMER AND OUR SYSTEM DOES NOTHING, BUT ALLOW ALL THIS TO HAPPEN.
IN FEBRUARY 2015 I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION SHUTTER/SHAKE AT 35 TO 40 MPH. TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO GET WORSE WITH THE TRANSMISSION BANGING INTO GEAR AT APPROX 65 MPH. TOOK VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME OF THE ONGOING CRACKED RADIATOR LEAKING WATER INTO TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WITHIN 4 WEEKS OF FIRST PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY AND I WAS FORCED TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT A COST OF $4535.47.
MY FRIEND AND I WERE TRAVELING ON THE I-40E IN NEW MEXICO. HE WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND FEEL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. HE WOKE UP AND OVERSTEERED AND CAUSED US TO CRASH MY TRUCK INTO THE RIGHT SIDE HIGHWAY DITCH AT ABOUT 70 MILES PER HOUR. WE HIT FIRST WITH THE FRONT RIGHT OF MY TRUCK AND THEN TUMBLED 3 TIMES SMASHING ALL SIDES OF THE TRUCK ESPECIALLY THE FRONT. WE HAD OUR SEAT BELTS ON SO WE WEREN'T EJECTED, BUT AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY DOG WAS IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE 4 DOOR TRUCK AND WAS EJECTED AND DIED SHORTLY AFTER. I SUSTAINED SEVERAL INJURIES TO MY FACE, HEAD, ARMS, SHOULDERS, AND BACK. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WITH NO WARNING. THANKFULLY IT COMPLETELY DISENGAGED AND DID NOT DAMAGE ANY OTHER SYSTEMS. WHEN TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT MIXED TOGETHER, THUS RUINING THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT NISSAN DID VERY LITTLE IN THE WAY OF RECALLS/INFORMING THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE. *TR
I ACTUALLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER STALLING WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND FOUND OUT IT WAS BECAUSE OF ECM RELAY SO I CALLED NISSAN DEALER AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE RELAY. MADE A APPOINTMENT TO GET IT FIXED AND HAD THEM SEE WHY I HAD A HESITATION WHEN TAKING OFF. LONG STORY SHORT I SHOW BACK UP TO GET MY TRUCK AND SERVICE ADVISOR TELLS ME I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR BECAUSE OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID BEING MIXED.THE SERVICE ADVISER WAS VERY SHORT WITH ME AND SURE DIDN'T WANT TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM,HE JUST WANTED ME TO ORDER $5302.87 WORTH PARTS TO FIX IT.I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU BUT I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY SITTING AROUND TO BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR .THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT NISSAN RECALLS APPARENTLY IT'S A BIG PROBLEM. *TR
WEATHER TURNED FROM RAIN TO ICY. SOUTH BOUND ON STREET THAT OVERPASS INTERSTATE. TRUCK SPUN AROUND SEVERAL TIMES FIRST IN SOUTH BOUND LANE HITTING GUARD RAIL ON WEST SIDE, WENT OVER THE CURB AND MEDIAN INTO NORTH BOUND LANE SPIN AGAIN BEFORE COMING TO REST AGAINST 4FT HIGH CONCRETE DIVIDER ON BRIDGE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DEPLOYED. MY WIFE WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT. NO OTHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THIS TRUCK HAD DUAL STAGE SUPPLEMENTAL FRONT AIR BAGS AND NISSAN AABS.. THANKFULLY OUR SEAT BELTS WERE PROBABLY WHAT PROTECTED US FROM BEING THROWN FROM THE TRUCK. AS I STATED ONLY THE AIR BAG IN STEERING WHEEL DEPLOYED. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO WITH ALL THE RECALLS GOING ON. I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I WENT TO EMERGENCY ROOM THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY TO GET XRAY OF CHEST BECAUSE OF PAIN. MY WIFE WENT TO HER DR ALSO. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

GAS GAUGE STOPS WORKING AFTER HALF TANK IS USED01.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE USED IN LATE DECEMBER 2014. I WAS RECEIVING A P0463 CODE THE GAS GAUGE RANDOMLY STARTED DROPPING TO BELOW EMPTY AND THE LIGHT WOULD GO ON JUST AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK (FULL). THE GAUGE STAYS AT EMPTY WITH THE LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME UNTIL IT REACHES AROUND 1/4 TANK OR LESS AND WILL GO DOWN SOMETIMES UNTIL EMPTY AGAIN. HOWEVER IT HAS RUN OUT OF GAS ON ME MULTIPLE TIMES IN INTERSECTIONS WHEN IT SAYS I HAVE 1/4 OR 1/8TH TANK WHICH LEADS TO A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I AM FORCED TO USE THE TRIP METER ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. THIS IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ISSUE THAT HAS AFFECTED ALL OTHER 2006 FRONTIERS (AND OTHER YEARS AS WELL). ALTHOUGH NISSAN ONLY REPLACED 'SOME' IT IS THE SAME PART AND ISSUE THAT HAS AFFECTED ALL FRONTIERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER FROM A DEALER AND AFTER A COUPLE DAYS OF DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SHIFTED REAL HARD AND ABOUT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, WE FOUND THAT THERE WAS COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION AND VIS VERSA. ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS 5-7 THOUSAND DOLLARS. *TR
TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR NOISE THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM TRANSMISSION WITH A SLIGHT ROWING SOUND WHEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTED BETWEEN 40 MPH AND 45 MPH. SHOP MANAGER INFORMED ME TRUCK NEEDED A NEW TIMING CHAIN AND FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT. AFTER MAKING REPAIRS TO THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH THE SHOP MANAGER SPECIFICALLY INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN, MY TRUCK STILL HAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THESE REPAIRS WERE MADE AT MY EXPENSE. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANT ME TO PAY FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS THAT MAY NOT BE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY SPECIFICALLY ASSURED ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS THE PROBLEM. I SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER AND HE CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THEY WOULD DO REGARDING THE FACT MY TRUCK WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS OVER THE 8 YEARS AND BELOW THE MILES ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM HIM STATING THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANYTHING ADDITIONAL AND I WOULD NEED TO COVER THE $2500 CO-PAYMENT TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. A CODE READ SAID IT WAS MY FUEL SENDING UNIT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE BUT NISSAN CUSTOMER SUPPORT SAID MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED. THEY DID NOT EXPLAIN WHY BUT UPON MY FOLLOW UP, THEY SAID THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE IF THEY COULD HELP/ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COSTS. THEY REQUIRED THE CODE READ FROM THE DEALER (WHICH I DID AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT). THEY CALL ME BACK A WEEK LATER AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY, ALTHOUGH THE REPRESENTATIVE ADMITTED IT WAS THE DEFECT FROM THE RECALL CAMPAIGN, BUT THIS TIME, SHE SAID IT WAS BECAUSE THE RECALL WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. SINCE I WAS NEVER PART OF THE RECALL NOTICE, THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO KNOW WHEN THE CAMPAIGN WAS IN EFFECT, PLUS - THEY DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO MANY, MANY PEOPLE AND IT SEEMS NISSAN HAS SCAMMED NHTSA AND THE RECALL SYSTEM TO MINIMIZE THE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS THEY HAVE HAD TO MAKE (E.G. THEY VOLUNTEER TO PERFORM THE RECALL, THEN ARTIFICIALLY LIMIT THE NUMBER OF VIN NUMBERS INCLUDED), AND PUT A TIME LIMIT ON THE RECALL BY CALLING IT A WARRANTY EXTENSION. WHEN PEOPLE LIKE ME EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM AND FOLLOW UP, THEY ARE PREPARED WITH A CASCADING NUMBER OF WAYS TO SAY "SO SORRY", BUT NONE OF THEM OWN UP TO THEIR ORIGINAL COMMITMENT TO THE PUBLIC AND THE NHTSA TO CONDUCT AND EXECUTE A FULL RECALL ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE. VERY SLICK, AND VERY UNETHICAL. I AM HOPING THAT THE NHTSA WILL CONDUCT A FULL INVESTIGATION, NOT JUST FOR ME, BUT TO EVENTUALLY FORCE NISSAN TO HONOR THE RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES THAT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM - NOT JUST A FEW VINS THEY NAMED SO THEY CAN SAVE MONEY. *TR
RADIATOR COOLANT FAILURE LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING IT TO FAIL... *TR
