FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE SHOWING CODE P0463. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR IN NATURE TO CAMPAIGN ID: 10V075000. VEHICLE IS 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER SE CREW CAB. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. (2 TIMES IN THE LAST 700 MILES FOR ME). CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND FUEL LEVEL DROPS TO EMPTY. PERIODICALLY COMES UP PART WAY BUT TOTALLY UNRELIABLE. REQUIRES ESTIMATING FUEL LEVEL BY ODOMETER READING. COULD CAUSE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF CRASH WITH LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WHEN ENGINE STALLS. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE GETS STUCK ON 1/4 TANK OR SHOWS NO GAS EVEN WHEN FULL. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS YEAR MODEL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NISSAN WILL NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE THEY SAY IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE CORRECT MONTH. THEY DID SAY THE PROBLEM WAS MORE VEHICLES THEN THE RECALL COVERED AND FOR THOSE VEHICLES THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 72 MONTHS OR 72,000 MILES SO THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIX IT. SEEING AS MY VEHICLE HAS 90,000 MILES THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF FIXING THIS PROBLEM UNDER THE RECALL. *TR
2006 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AT APPROX 55,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. INITIALLY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE FUEL REACHED APPROX 1/4 TANK FULL. NOW, SES LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED AND ACTUAL GAS GAUGE INTERMITTENTLY WORKS. THIS IS WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM ADDRESSED MANY MANY TIMES ON VEHICLE FORUMS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY VEHICLE AND THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR AN ACCIDENT ON A MAJOR ROAD DUE TO A REAL GAS OUTAGE. THERE HAS BEEN A SAFETY BULLETIN ABOUT THIS BUT NO RECALL YET TO MY UNDERSTANDING AND HAS OCCURRED THROUGHOUT MANY DIFFERENT NISSAN TRUCK MODELS FROM THE XTERRA, PATHFINDER, AND FRONTIER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND BEGAN READING INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT OF A POTENTIAL RECALL ON THE VEHICLE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000-FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK).THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED AND LOCATED A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL CIRCUIT SENDING UNIT. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. UPDATED 12/30/10 *BF UPDATED 01/11/11.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE HAD DROPPED AND THE VEHICLE SERVICE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK). THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ON 08-18-10, I WAS BACKING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WITH MY 06 NISSAN FRONTIER, UPON ENTERING THE STREET, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE A LOUD POP AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE, MOVING LEFT TO RIGHT, UP AND DOWN 3/4' OUTSIDE THE MANUFACTURED TOLERANCES. I HAD THE TRUCK EVALUATED, 08-18-10, AT MURRAYS NISSAN, MUSKOGEE, OK 74403, 918-683-6605, AND THE FUEL-SENDING UNIT REPLACED, 2ND TIME. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING REPAIR WOULD BE $980.00, AND NISSAN WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH REPAIRS AT 80,000 MILES. THEY STATED THAT THE BEARING WAS BAD AND THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED, ADMITTING, 'THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD ENCOUNTERED THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IN THIS REVISED MODEL.' AFTER REPAIRING THE FUEL-SENDING UNIT, I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, AND RESEARCHED THE DEFECT AND DISCOVERED OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE THAT THERE IS A MAJOR STEERING DEFECT WITH THIS MODEL, AND YEAR, FURTHER VALIDATED BY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THIS AGENCY, INCLUDING HIGH-SPEED TOTAL STEERING LOCKUP, RESULTING IN COLLISIONS. ON 02-15-11, 87,000 I RETURNED TO HAVE THE FUEL-SENDING UNIT REPLACED, 3RD TIME/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF, 3RD TIME/REVIEWED FOR A STEERING RECALL STATUS UPDATE DUE TO INCREASED STEERING ISSUES. NISSAN WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE STEERING REPAIR, AT A COST OF $988.00, AND INDICATED THAT THE EMISSION CONTROL CANISTER FAILED, $700.00. ON 02-18-11, AFTER 3 DAYS VOID OF ANY REPAIRS, I PICKED UP THE TRUCK BEING REASSURED THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I FILED A REQUEST WITH NISSAN NA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ON 02-22-11. NISSAN NA CALLED ON 02-25-2011, REFUSING ASSISTANCE ON THE STEERING AND EMISSION CONTROL CANISTER FAILURE. WE OWN 4 NISSAN FRONTIERS AND 1 ARMADA FROM 2001-2009, 06 TRUCK HAVING MULTIPLE REPAIR ISSUES SINCE PURCHASE EVIDENCED THROUGH NISSAN SERVICE RECORDS. MY SON, AGE 16, DRIVES THIS TRUCK DAILY TO WORK AND SCHOOL AND TRANSPORTS HIS 9-YEAR-OLD BROTHER. I FEEL THAT THE STEERING AND EMISSION CONTROL CANISTER FAILURE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED UNDER RECALL PROVISIONS. *TR
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK IT DROPS TO EMPTY AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER 43 MILES IT GOES BACK UP AND THEN SEEMS TO WORK UNTIL NEXT FILL UP. IF IDLING IN PARK FOR A FEW MINUTES IT DROPS TO EMPTY AGAIN. THEN THE NEXT DAY IT GOES BACK UP AGAIN. IT IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM AND I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE OTHER THAN TRACKING MILEAGE. FUEL GAUGE FAILURE ON 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER 4DOOR PICKUP TRUCK. I CALLED SEVERAL NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND ALL OF THEM TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WITHOUT EVER SEEING THE TRUCK! AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE, I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS SOMEONE COULD RUN OUT OF FUEL ON A BUSY ROAD AND BE HIT FROM BEHIND AND OR WRECK TRYING TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROADWAY. (AS ALMOST HAPPENED TO ME). *TR
THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM I'M HAVING WITH MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. I CALLED NISSAN AND MENTIONED THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS AND THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD BE COVERED. AT THIS POINT THE ONLY WAY I CAN BE SURE THAT MY VEHICLE HAS GAS IN IT IS TO TRACK THE MILES EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE FUEL TANK. THE FUEL GAUGE IS USELESS AND IF I FILL IT UP IT IMMEDIATELY SAYS IT IS EMPTY, THE YELLOW LIGHT COMES ON AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. EVEN THE NISSAN RECALL NOTICE SAYS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT WHEN I CALLED THEM THEY SAID I "MIGHT" NOT BE COVERED..... 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AT APPROX 80,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER REAR BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO LEAK IN THE REAR AXLE SHAFT. THE SEALS IN THE REAR AXLE FAILED ALLOWING OIL TO COMPLETELY COAT THE REAR BRAKES ON BOTH SIDES RENDERING THEM ESSENTIALLY USELESS. REPAIR REQUIRED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF REAR AXLE SHAFT SINCE NISSAN WILL NOT REPLACE JUST THE SEALS. HAD REPAIR COMPLETED BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM. NISSAN PAID A PORTION, BUT IT DIDN'T EVEN COVER HALF OF THE PARTS, LET ALONE THE LABOR. I FOOTED THE MAJORITY OF THE BILL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK GAUGE DOES NOT INDICATE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. NISSAN WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO CALL HIM BACK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIRS COULD BE PERFORMED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. NISSAN CALLED BACK AND STATED THAT HE NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD A CRACKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN. IMMEDIATELY AFTER HEARING THE SOUND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AND IT COULD BE MOVED IN ANY DIRECTION ON THE STEERING COLUMN. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 57000.
RIGHT REAR AXLE OF NISSAN 2006 FRONTIER FAILURE. WAS CAUGHT BY OWNER WHILE ROTATING TIRES, EVERY 8000 MILES. COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS DANGER TO ALL OCCUPANTS AND OTHER MOTORISTS IF THERE WAS A TOTAL FAILURE OF READ AXLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE REFUELED THE VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE 70 MPH WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL WAS EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LEVEL WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD ONLY DISPLAY ACCURATE FUEL LEVELS WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS APPROXIMATELY THREE-QUARTERS FULL AND WOULD FAIL WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS DOWN TO THREE EIGHTS OF A TANK. THE FAILURE BEGAN TWO MONTHS PRIOR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000. UPDATED 01/20/11 *BF
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. AFTER ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT REGISTER THE NEW AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THE INCORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT WAS IN THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HIM THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THAT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILIARY TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 58,000.
BRAKES FAILURE DUE TO REAR AXLE LEAK . MYSELF AND 10000'S OTHERS HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SEALS FAILURE DUE TO A FAULTY AIR VENT THAT CLOGS AND HOT AIR WILL BUILD UP AND THE SEALS WILL FAIL AND THE OIL GET ALL OVER THE REAR BRAKES CAUSES THE BRAKES TO FAIL. *TR
WE BOUGHT A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER 2WD PICKUP. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS A LITTLE LOOSE BUT THE DEALER ASSURED US IT WAS OK. THE VEHICLE HAS 28,000 MILES ON IT AND WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT THE STEERING COLUMN BEARING HAS FAILED AND MUST BE REPLACED AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON AND RECURRENT PROBLEM ON CERTAIN NISSAN VEHICLES. THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE FAILURE OF THE BEARING LEADS TO LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. WHEN WE CONTACTED THE DEALER WE WERE TOLD THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED, ALTHOUGH MANY COMPLAINTS WERE RECEIVED. FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THE BEARING BEING SOLD FOR REPLACEMENT IS THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL PART AND MAY FAIL AGAIN. *TR
FUEL GAUGE BEGAN READING INACCURATELY CAUSING ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER SAYS MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED. *TR
2006 NISSAN FRONTIER HAD A COMPLETE FAIL OF THE TAILGATE HINGES CAUSING THE TAILGATE TO FALL OPEN WITH THE DANGER OF ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY RELEASE OF CARGO ONTO THE ROAD. AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR "NISSAN TAILGATE HINGE" TURNED UP A NUMBER OF OTHER INCIDENTS, INCLUDING LOSS OF TAILGATE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

THE NOTICE HE RECEIVED HAD HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER ON IT; HOWEVER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE NOTICE WAS SENT IN ERROR. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF THE PART FAILING AND WOULD LIKE FOR NISSAN TO HONOR THE NOTICE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48000.

THE EXHAUST EMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN EMISSION STATION WHERE THE EMISSION WARNING INDICATOR WAS REPAIRED. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HIM OF NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STORAGE AUXILIARY TANK) . THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,800.
BEEN SMELLING GAS FOR OVER A YEAR. THEN DRIVING HOME ON 07/05/2012 FUEL PUMP STARTED SPEWING GAS TOOK 18 GALLONS GAS TO DRIVE 10 MILES BEFORE I NEW WHAT WAS GOING ON . FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLEY HAS MULTIPLE STRESS FRACTURES ALL OVER THE TOP AND FITTINGS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE FOR A LONG TIME PROBABLE FROM NEW. NISSAN WILL NOT FIX. SAYS MY VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL . I HAVE THE FUEL PUMP WITH PHOTOS OF THE STRESS FRACTURES THANKS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK) AND THAT SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS NOT VALID THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,888.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND WAS PULLED FROM THE VEHICLE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. A FIRE AND POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE BUT DIED WHILE IN ROUTE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V074000 FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER: STORAGE: FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND WOULD NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. I DO HAVE SERVICE RECORD STATING THIS. TOOK BACK TO DEALER AS PROBLEM PERSISTED AND NOW DEALER SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT, OF COURSE IS NO LONGER COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE RADIATORS, BUT DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS. ALSO, DEALER AND COMPANY WILL NOT GIVE ME ANSWER TO PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ASKED REPEATEDLY. PLEASE HELP.

DEALERSHIPS REFUSE TO COVER THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. CONSUMERS ARE UNABLE TO REGISTER A VEHICLE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS A SMOG TEST. SAFETY BECOMES AN ISSUE DUE TO THE FUEL GAUGE NOT ACCURATELY PROVIDING THE CORRECT LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE TANK. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE RADIATOR, THE POWER TRANSMISSION, AND STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

THE DEALER ADVISED THE REPAIRS WERE THE OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,136.
A TRANSMISSION LINE FROM THE COOLER RUNS THROUGH THE RADIATOR. THE LINE FAILED ALLOWING FLUID FROM THE RADIATOR TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAUSED MASSIVE VIBRATIONS AND VEHICLE STALLING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE FREEWAY OR TO PASS, CREATING A HAZARDOUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC. *KB
