While driving the vehicle and the fuel gauge reading 1/4 tank, without any prior notification such as a "low fuel" light thw car shut off on the highway, the vehicle ran out of gas. This has happened 3 times. Upon researching there is a known recall for this vehicle that exhibits these exact symptoms as the fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank but really there is no gas. Other than this the fuel gauge works, when filled with gas it shows full on the gauge, but upon reaching the 1/4 tank level the gauge stops moving and does not indicate low fuel leaving me to believe there is gas when in fact there is not.
Saw that there was an airbag item recall (NHTSA I.D.: 08V69000) for my vehicle. Airbag warning light is on. However, dealer says, "No open campaigns" and vehicle is out of the warranty period.

the calipers in this kit have seized and been replaced (fronts 7/22,rears3/23) the front calipers have seized again 8/23. there is something wrong with these calipers and a potential for crash/injury situation, as a break components this reliability is unacceptable and potential dangerous. I feel this should be investigated before someone dies due to this/these products.

AIR BAG ICON STARTED TO FLASH , I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY SAID THERES NO RECALLS , AIR BAG SIGN KEEPS ON FLASHING
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at speeds over 40 MPH, the vehicle would shake and vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission causing severe damage to the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The transmission cooler integrated into the radiator failed damaging the transmission by cross contamination of fluids. Loss of power on a narrow country mountain road was not safe. I learned that this problem is very common. I feel that Nissan should have replaced the radiator before thousands in transmission damage occurred.
Transmission fluid cooler integrated in the radiator that allowed engine coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid causing damage to the transmission. Radiator had to be replaced along with flushing out of the trans fluid at a service station costing a few thousand of dollars. Months later the check engine light went on and found out that the transmission is slipping caused by the fluid contamination.
I was driving my vehicle and I ran out of gas. The gas gauge maintained a quarter of a tank and the gas light never came on. I check for recalls and it turns out this is a known recall for this vehicle, but it says 0 recalls. But the problem still persists, therefore the vehicle is still suffering from this problem. After filling the gas after the car ran out. I tested this theory 2 more times to confirm that indeed the vehicle was suffering from this recall, in which i run out of gas without knowing. Secondly, the links associated with the other recall, have also failed/failing as the vehicle is becoming unstable while driving at times and a mechanic has already determined the links to be the cause, yet when I check my VIN number, it says 0 recalls. Yet my vehicle clearly suffers from this. Can my vehicle please be added to the list, as this is very scary as the first time I ran out of gas I was on the expressway, and the vehicle sways yet it is not listed and needs to be for safety reasons and concerns. TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO COOLANT IN TRANS OIL CONTAMINATING TRANS COMPONENTS. TOTAL TRANS REBUILD/REPLACE RADIATOR AND TRANS COOLER. 130K MILES ON VEHICLE - LOW MILES FOR A 2008 FRONTIER. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED, HESITATED, WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED AS IT SHOULD, WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING THRU GEARS AS IT TRANSITIONED FROM STOP TO MOVING, TYPICALLY AROUND 30-40 MPH UNDER LOAD (ACCELERATING). WE HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. EXPENSIVE REPAIR!
DRIVING ON STREET TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE I LOSS POWER AND CAR COULDN'T SHIFT INTO GEAR IT SEEMED I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED AND SHUT OFF. FIRST LONG TRIP SINCE I BOUGHT THE USED TRUCK, A TRIP TO OAKRIDGE, 90 MILE ROUND TRIP FROM HOME. THE TRUCK MADE IT BACK TO OUR DRIVEWAY, THEN WHEN I PUT ON THE BREAK FOR MY HUSBAND TO GET OUT, IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. I COULDN'T BUDGE THE TRUCK. IT WAS LOCKED UP. COULDN'T MOVE THE STICK. THE ENGINE QUIT. FORCED IT INTO PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART, BUT NOT A SOUND. THE NEIGHBOR CAME OVER WITH HIS CODE READER. IT SAID P1000. BATTERY CHECKED GOOD, GOT A NEW ONE ANYWAY BECAUSE ITS AGE. GROUNDS WERE GOOD, BUT CLEANED ANYWAY. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. THEY PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN.
THE ANTIFREEZE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID GOT MIXED TOGETHER IN MY TRUCK AND I AM NOW TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER KNEW THAT THE TRUCK WOULD AT LEAST GIVE ME 100,000 MILES BEFORE THAT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN. *TR
AROUND MARCH 23, 2020 I NOTICED MY DRIVERS SEAT MOVING WHEN I ACCELERATE OR SLOW DOWN. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS LOOSE HARDWARE SO I WAS GOING TO TIGHTEN THE MOUNTING BOLTS OVER THE WEEKEND. WHEN I STARTED TO TIGHTEN THE HARDWARE I FOUND IT WAS ALL TIGHT. BUT THE SEAT CONTINUED TO MOVE ABOUT. THAT WEEKEND I REMOVED THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND FOUND THE FRONT RIGHT MOUNTING POINT TORN OUT OF THE SHEET METAL. THE THREADED RE-ENFORCEMENT TAB HAD TORN THROUGH THE SHEET METAL USED AT THE SEAT MOUNTING POINT. I REMOVED THE TAB FROM THE SEAT AND NOTICED THAT THE SPOT WELDS HAD NOT FAILED IT WAS THE SHEET METAL BRACE BRACKET, IT WAS ATTACHED TO, THAT HAD FAILED. I FIRST NOTICED THE MOVEMENT WHILE HEADING HOME FROM WORK AND ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A 2 LANE SIDE ROAD TO A 6 LANE DIVIDED CITY ROAD. IN THE TIME THAT I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE IT HAS NEVER BEEN WREAKED, AND TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL REPAIR ESTIMATES FROM COLLISION SHOPS. UNIVERSALLY ALL OF THE SHOPS CLAIMED TO HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS KIND OF DAMAGE. *TR
FUEL VENT TUBE IS SO BLOCKED WHEN OPENING GAS CAP VAPORS BLOW OUT WITH MUCH PRESSURE AND CAN NOT PUMP GAS INTO TRUCK AS IT SPREADS OUT OVER THE TRUCK AND ALL OVER THE PLACE!! I JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK AND I AM SURE IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN ,COULD TURN DEADLY ..
SEAT BELT LIGHT STAYS FLASHING, TIRE LIGHT STAYS FLASHING, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAY ON EVEN AFTER DEALER RESET.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT, BUT IT SEEMED LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING POWER. SO, I SHUT IT OFF AND WHEN I TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN THE FANS AND LIGHTS CAME ON BUT NOTHING ELSE. I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE STARTER. THEY REPLACED THE STARTER AND THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CHANGED THE ATECU FUSE. IT STARTED AND RAN FOR THREE MINUTES AND THEN DIED AGAIN. THEN I TOOK IT TO AN ELECTRICAL SHOP. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEN I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAIN ECM. THEY FIXED THAT AND IT STILL WOULDN'T START THE CAR. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE ECU AND TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS NO GOOD DUE TO CROSS CONTAMINATION (RADIATOR FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION). THIS IS A NISSAN DEFECTIVE RADIATOR AND THEY CHARGED $5500 FOR A MISTAKE THAT WASN'T MY FAULT.

TRANSMISSION HAS WATER IN IT FROM THE RADIATOR LEAKING INTO IT NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION.
NOTICED SHAKING IN PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE. TOOK TO TRANSMISSION SHOP AFTER DOING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF WORKED TO THE FRONT END. TO FIND OUT THAT THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION WERE MIXING FLUID. SHOP TOLD ME TRANSMISSION IT IS DONE AND MUST BE REBUILT AND RADIATOR MUST BE REBUILT. BEEN TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FRONTIER.
THE COOLER TUBES FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR CRACKED, ALLOWING FOR FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS RESULTED IN RAPID DEGRADATION OF THE FRICTION ELEMENTS WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE FRONTIER IS NOW UNDRIVABLE.
MY COOLANT MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. CAUSING IT NOT TO ACCELERATE. NISSAN MECHANIC SAYS IT'LL COST 6000 DOLLARS TO COMPLETELY FIX. ABSURD!!!!!! 120,000 MILE VEHICLE.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN IGNITION NO AND BEGINS TO FLASH AFTER A FEW SECONDS, AND CONTINUES TO FLASH WHILE DRIVING
RADIATOR THAT CONTROLS THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT LET GO CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE ENGINE COOLANT. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED AT NEW RIVER NISSAN BACK IN 2018. BEFORE I HAD NISSAN REPAIR IT I HAD TAKEN IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE IT WAS FLUSHED OUT AND A SMALL RADIATOR ADDED TO THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE RADIATOR GOING BAD . THE TRUCK HAD LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON IT AND LESS THAN A 9 YEARS. AS THE RECALL WAS ADDED TO THAT AFTER ALL THE PROBLEMS FROM THE RADIATOR. I FILL LIKE I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR EVERYTHING THAT I PAID OUT WHICH WAS ABOUT 3500.00 TOTAL. BUT NOW IT'S STILL MIXING COOLANT AFTER BEING SERVICED BY A NISSAN DEALER.
THIS VEHICLE HAS KNOWN TIMING BELT ISSUES. THE VEHICLE STARTS MAKING A LOUD NOISE(WHINING) THAT GETS LOUDER AS I DRIVE FASTER ON ANY ROAD. TRANSMISSION LOCKED DURING DRIVING COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING WITH COOLANT CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURES
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF JUST LIKE THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENED ONE OR TWO TIMES A DAY OVER A TEN DAY PERIOD, I SWAPPED MY OLD KEY WITH MY WIFE'S KEY AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANTED TO DO $7000 OF REPAIRS AND NOTHING ABOUT THE KEY AND IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. SO I HAVE BEEN USING MY WIFE'S KEY FOR THE PAST FIVE DAYS AND NO ISSUES. NISSAN CLAIMS THEY NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS ALTHOUGH THE INTERNET SHOWS A RECALL IN 2010 FOR 2003-2006 FRONTIERS FOR A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM.
STARTING HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION IT STARTED POPPING AS I WOULD BACK UP , SO I THOUGHT IT WAS THE DRIVE SHAFT. I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE AND THEY FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR COOLING SYSTEM HAD LET GO LETTING THE COOLING AND TRANSMISSION MIX. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS IF NISSAN NEW ABOUT IT. IT STARTED TO SLIP A COUPLE OF TIMES AS I WENT TO PULL OUT AND THAT'S WHEN I TOOK IT TO GARAGE.
LIGHT FLASHING ON DASH WHICH APPEARED TO BE THE AIRBAG. MECHANIC DID DIAGNOSTIC TEST SAID IT NEEDS SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT.
TRUCK STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS AROUND 45MPH. ENGINE OFF.
ENGINE COOLANT HAS LEAKED FROM THE RADIATOR INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLING SECTION OF THE RADIATOR, THEN INTO THE TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN OVER $5200 IN A TRANSMISSION REBUILD. HAVING CHECKED VARIOUS WEB SITES I NOTICE THAT THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. MY QUESTION IS: IF NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, WHY HAS A RECALL NOT BEEN ISSUED? ALSO, WHY SHOULD OWNERS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOOTING THE BILL FOR REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION? DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS, I WILL BE CONTACTING THE FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION AGENCY THAT PROVIDES OVERSIGHT OF VEHICLE SAFETY AND RECALLS. IT IS UNSATISFACTORY THAT NISSAN DOES NOT OWN UP TO IT'S RESPONSIBILITIES!

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
MY TRUCK WOULD GO IN TO GEAR BUT WOULD NOT DRIVE. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED BY A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING WATER AND COOLANT IN TO MY TRANSMISSION AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY HOSE ON RADIATOR AND IT WAS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF FRONTIERS AND XTERRAS. WHEN MY HUSBAND QUESTIONED THE TECH ON THIS BEING A RECALL HE STATED THAT IT SHOULD BE, BUT IS NOT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE. HE TOLD US WE WOULD NEED A NEW RADIATOR, HOSES, AND TRANSMISSION. THE TRUCK BREAKING DOWN IS A SAFETY ISSUE! WE THEN HAD OUR TRUCK TOWED TO OUR NORMAL MECHANIC AND HE IS REPAIRING IT NOW.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. REF RECALL 08V690000. WHY WOULD OUR TRUCK NOT BE PART OF THIS RECALL?. WE LIVE IN AN AREA WHICH IS SURROUNDED BY OCEAN SO SALT CORROSION IS COMMON. I KNOW SEVERAL OTHERS THAT HAVE SIMILAR ISSUE NOT ONLY FRONTIERS. I UNDERSTAND THE FRONT CRASH SENSOR CORROSION IS COMMON. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT DUE TO AIRBAGS OR DEPLOYING DUE TO THIS COMMON SENSOR ISSUE.

A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THERE WAS NO KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE ENGINE MAKES A WHINING NOISE THAT INCREASES IN FREQUENCY WITH ENGINE RPM. THE TRUCK HAS 69,000 MILES ON IT BUT THE NOISE HAS BEEN APPARENT FOR SOME TIME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS WERE WORN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,800.
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JAN OF 2017 AS A USED TRUCK. HAD LESS THAN 2 MOS. THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. AS WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC FOR REPAIR, WE DISCOVERED NISSAN HAS HAD THIS ISSUE ON SEVERAL OF THEIR MODELS. THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND RUINED THE TRANSMISSION.
MY NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME TODAY THAT THE TIMING CHAIN ON THE 4.0L V6 ENGINE IN MY TRUCK REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. THIS TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT AND THE DEALER CHARGES $2,140 FOR THE WORK. TIMING CHAINS ARE NORMALLY EXPECTED TO LAST FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. FAILURE OF THE TIMING CHAIN WOULD DESTROY THE ENGINE AND, IF IT OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT A DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM ON THIS AND RELATED ENGINES SINCE AT LEAST 2004, YET THEY CONTINUED TO USE THOSE DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 2010. NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND REPLACE THE CHAINS UNDER WARRANTY.
I HAVE A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER AND THE GAS VENT CONTROL VALVE HAS FAILED WHERE THE BACK WASH FLAP AT THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK HAS FALLEN INTO THE GAS TANK NECK PREVENTING ME FROM BEING ABLE TO PUT GAS INTO THE GAS TANK. I CALLED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE SAID I WOULD BE CHARGED $150.00 JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I THINK THIS IS OUTRAGES BECAUSE I READ ON YOUR GOVERNMENT SITE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON MORE NISSAN MODELS TOO. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. RESPECTFULLY, MICHAEL H.
DRIVERS SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK. DIFFERENTIAL VENT LEAK. BOTH STARTED ABOUT 100,000 MILES.
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO AN ITEM ALREADY UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA. I AM ANOTHER VICTIM OF NISSAN'S LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER LEADING TO A CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSOIN FAILURE. MY TRANSMISSION LOCKED IN SECOND GEAR UPON ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN. FORTUNATELY I WAS 1/2 MILE FROM MY HOME ON A SIDE STREET AND NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHERE SUCH A PROBLEM COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMERS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE FIX IS RELATIVELY CHEAP BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION COOLER BEGINS TO LEAK. UNFORTUNATELY CONSUMERS ARE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE, AND THE REPAIR REQUIRES A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR COSTING $5000 TO $6000. ALTHOUGH NO WRECK WAS INVOLVED IN MY INCIDENT, THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT IS DEFINATELY PRESENT IF SUCH A FAILURE WHERE TO HAPPEN ON A CONGESTED INTERSTATE.
ON THE 22ND OF JULY 2016, MY 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER DEPLOYED BOTH SIDES OF ITS CURTAIN AIRBAGS. I WAS TRAVELING AT ROUGHLY 3-5 MPH ON FREEST ROAD 618 OUTSIDE OF CAMP VERDE, ARIZONA. THE ROAD HAD A SLIGHT INCLIN OF MAYBE 1-2%, WITH SLIGHTLY MUDDY GROUND DUE TO IT RAINING. MY FRONTIERS FRONT LEFT TIRE ROLLED ONTO A ROUNDED ROCK NO TALLER THAN 4-5 INCHES TALL AND SLIPPED OFF OF IT TO THE LEFT. THE SLIPPING OFF OF THE ROCK WAS WHEN THE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I WAS IN THE DRIVERS SEAT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND MY LITTLE BROTHER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY LITTLE BROTHER SUFFERED A RUG BURN LIKE SCRAPE ON HIS NECK WHERE THE BAG IMPACTED HIM. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF IMPACT ANYWHERE ON THE TRUCK WHICH WAS CONFIRMED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT.
WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED, THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR WILL DROP TO THE BOTTOM (EMPTY SETTING) AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE, THE GAUGE WILL GRADUALLY MOVE UP. THE PROCESS WILL REPEAT ITSELF WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT SOMETIMES REMAINING ON AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL TURN OFF.
