2000 NISSAN MAXIMA ENGINE MISFIRE POOR ACCELERATION DEFECTIVE COIL PACKS. SERVICE ADVISOR RECOMMENDS REPLACING ALL SIX COIL PACKS WITH NEW DESIGN @ MY EXPENSE. REPLACED ONE DEFECTIVE COIL PACK & SPARK PLUG IN THAT CYLINDER. *NM
2000 NISSAN MAXIMA. PROBLEM WITH ENGINE MISFIRING RELATED TO NTB01059. PROBLEM CONTINUES TO RECUR THOUGH COIL PACKS (6) ARE REPLACED. THIS IS EXPENSIVE. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT IT. THERE ARE WEBSITES AND PETITIONS WITH OVER 3000 NAMES OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS RECURRING PROBLEM. *JB
SUNROOF WILL ONLY MOVE ABOUT 2 INCHES AT A TIME. HAVE REPLACED SWITCH AND MOTOR. NISSAN SERVICE TECHNICIAN CANNOT RESOLVE PROBLEM. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS WITH NO RESOLUTION. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED WHEN STARTED AND AT 20-55 MPH THE ENGINE MADE A RATTLING SOUND. AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 55 MPH, THE RATTLING STOPPED. THERE WERE THREE OXYGEN SENSORS REPLACED IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE PERSISTED.
I HAVE THE SAME ENGINE IGNITION COIL PROBLEM AS LISTED THROUGHOUT YOUR SITE AND THE INTERNET BY THOUSANDS OF OTHER 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THE CAR IS BARELY RUNNING BECAUSE OF THESE FAULTY IGNITION COILS WHICH THE DEALER RECOMMEND I HAVE REPLACED FOR OVER $1000. NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS THIS DEFECT WITH A RECALL. SOMETHING NEEDS TO HAPPEN. FIRST THEY TOLD IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS WHICH I HAD REPLACED. THEN IT WAS THESE COILS, THE CAR JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE DAILY. STALLING, BARELY ACCELERATING, CAN'T TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT BARELY MOVES. ACCELERATOR FAILS OFTEN, SOMETIMES THERE IS NO RESPONSE FROM PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL DOWN. THE FUMES COMING FROM THE CAR INDICATE THAT GAS IS BEING WASTED. ALSO GETTING TERRIBLE GAS MILEAGE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON - AND THE CAR IS RUNNING POORLY. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH IT JERKING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS CAR FOR BAD ENGINE COILS AND HARNESSES. TOTAL COST TO REPAIR IS BETWEEN $3,000-4,000. IF A MANUFACTURER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH A CAR IT PRODUCES, IT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AND REPAIR THE CARS AFFECTED. *JB
PROBLEMS WITH IGNITION COILS ON VEHICLE.*MR THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION COIL FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE ON THE DASH. *NM
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN HE HEARD A POP AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE CAR. HE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CAR BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIREMAN THAT PUT OUT THE FIRE SEEMED TO THINK THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LINE THAT BURST. *JB
IGNITION COIL FAILURE ON WELL MAINTAINED 2000 MAXIMA CREATED DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION, CAR WOULD "STALL" PRESSING ACCELERATOR ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING AS IF VEHICLE WERE "STARVING" FOR FUEL; ADVISED TO HAVE ALL 6 COILS REPLACED (MECHANIC BELIEVES THESE HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE - CAR WAS PURCHASED USED W/ 25,000 MILES) CURRENT REPAIR NEARLY $1000, ALSO ADDITIONAL COST TO REPLACE OXYGEN SENSOR AND FUEL REGULATOR; BASED ON NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, THIS SHOULD BE OF CONCERN TO NISSAN AND SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL OR AT THE LEAST, SOME ASSISTANCE WITH COST; WONDERING IF "CLASS ACTION" TYPE LAWSUIT ADVISABLE TO GAIN NISSAN'S ATTENTION. *NM
I BELIEVE, THE ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM WAS THERE SINCE I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE AFTER DRIVING COUPLE OF MONTHS (1000-1500 MILES) THE LIGHT APPEARED. FIRST, IT WILL COME AND GO AFTER APPROX 61,000 MILES IT BECAME PERMANENT. IN 2008 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP BILL KAY AT DOWNERS GROVE IL PAID APPROX. $2,000 FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM BUT AFTER SOME TIME IT AGAIN CAME UP AND STARTED FLASHING. IN 2010 AGAIN I TOOK IT TO MAINEKE AUTO WORK SHOP AND GOT THE IGNITION COILS CHANGED, SILENCER/EXHAUST CHANGED AND PAID ALMOST $1,200 BUT AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM OF ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK. THE PROBLOM GOES ON AND ON, RECENTLY I GOT THE NEW BATTERY AND TOOK IT TO THE GERALD NISSAN AT OGDEN AVE. NAPERVILLE, IL THEY SAID THEY CHANGED THE COILS BUT LIGHT CAME BACK THE VERY NEXT DAY. I PAID $800. NOW THEY ARE AGAIN MENTIONING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH SENSOR. PLEASE ADVISE AND HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. THESE CARS ARE SUPPOSE TO BE STURDY AND NOT HAVE SUCH PROBLEM SO FREQUENTLY AND I AM SICK AND TIRED OF SPENDING MONEY ON THIS CAR. *TR
MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA HAS BEEN EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT. A DEALER HOOKED IT UP TO A COMPUTER AND INDICATED A CODE OF P1320 - FAULTY COIL - MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 4. HE TOLD ME IN HIS EXPERIENCE WITH 2000 NISSAN MAXIMAS HE CAN REPLACE ONE, BUT CUSTOMER WILL BE BACK BECAUSE THE COILS ARE DEFECTIVE AND OTHER WILL EVENTUALLY GO. I FEEL SINCE THEY ARE DEFECTIVE CYLINDERS, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THE PARTS. *NM
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING. TOOK CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS QUOTED $900 TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE IGNITION COILS. CAR HAS 85000 MILES. *NM
I HAVE A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA AND THE SLIP / TCS / CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON THEN IT STARTS TO SHAKE N LOOSES POWER. ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS AT TIMES.. I REPLACE ALL COILS AND SPARK PLUS WITH DEALER AND THEY TELL ME THE I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE COIL HARNESS WHICH IS AROUND $1,000.. THEY SAY THAT THESE CARS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS.. I HAVE IN HAND OF MANY STORIES OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AND IN ALL THE STORIES EVERYONE IS MAD BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM? *TR
SES LIGHT COMES ON CONSTANTLY, GETS ANNOYING, MAKES YOU THINK YOUR NOT SAFE LIKE SOMETHING'S WRONG. TURNS OUT TO BE IGNITION COILS. DOING RESEARCH, FOUND HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF CASES WHERE THE 2000 MAXIMA HAD IGNITION COIL FAILURE ANYWHERE FROM 18K TO 90K MILES. THIS CAUSES FOULED PLUGS, MISFIRES, FAILURE TO START, AND LOSS OF POWER. *NM
ON MY NISSAN MAXIMA SE 2000 WHICH ONLY HAS 23,000 MILES ON IT, THE LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE. MY GARAGE TOLD ME THAT BOTH COIL SPRINGS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED, AN ALIGNMENT NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED AND BECAUSE THE SPRING RIPPED INTO THE TIRE, THE 17" PERFORMANCE TIRE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ALL TO A TUNE OF $900. I'M TOLD A COIL SPRING SHOULD NEVER BREAK ON A CAR THAT HAS THIS LOW MILEAGE. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFERED NO HELP BECAUSE I WOULD NOT HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A "CERTIFIED" NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH WOULD HAVE COST ME MORE MONEY. *NM
MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA CONSTANTLY KNOCKS AND PINGS WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY OR UP A HILL CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION ON A ENTRANCE RAMP OR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN DEALERS THAT THE IGNITION COILS NEED TO BE REPLACED (FOR $1000) AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUE BY THE NHTSA TO DO SO. I CONSIDER THIS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL TO COVER THE COST OF THIS DEFEAT. *JB
MY 2000 MAXIMA HAS 82000 MILES ON IT, AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IGNITION COILS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN DECEMBER 2004 (WITH 69000 MILES ON IT). I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2000 MAXIMAS. IF I HAD KNOWN I WAS GOING TO HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS, I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE BOUGHT A DIFFERENT CAR. NISSAN'S IGNITION COILS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED. *NM
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AT 68000 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A P1320 CODE AND THAT THE PRIMARY IGNITION COIL #4 WAS FAULTY. THEY WANTED ME TO HAVE ALL 6 IGNITION COILS REPLACED AND ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS FOR A TOTAL OF $912. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS PLAGUING A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE. THE PROBLEM IS CAUSING MISFIRING AND ROUGH IDLING. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE IGNITION COIL WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE STALLED ONE TIME AND MISFIRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE IGNITION COIL WAS THE PROBLEM; ALTHOUGH NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
BEGINNING AT 17,000 MILES AND CONTINUING TO 73,000 MILES REPEATED HARNESS WIRING BREAKS RESULTING IN ENGINE COIL FAILURE, EMISSION CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE, AND ENGINE MISFIRING. CAR LOST POWER AND BECAME UNUSABLE FOR BRIEF TIME PERIODS. APPREHENSIVE DRIVING CAR FOR FEAR OF PROBLEM OCCURRING UNEXPECTEDLY. CAR HAD BEEN REPAIRED EIGHT TIMES. EMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM REPROGRAMMED. COILS REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND FRAYED WIRES REPAIRED. CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED. *NM
I HAVE A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET FOR PARTS TO FIX MY CAR I CAME ACROSS A SITE CALLED CAR SURVEY ABOUT PEOPLE WITH 2000 MAXIMAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE CAR. READING FURTHER INTO IT I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. THE CAR STALLS IN DRIVE AND IN PARK THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR ALL OF US CONSIDERING THAT NISSAN WANTS ABOUT 1,000 DOLLARS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WHICH I BELIEVE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE BELIEVE ARE THE COILS. THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY TO MOST OF US TRYING TO RAISE A FAMILY AND DO NOT HAVE THAT TYPE OF MONEY. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS MAXIMA I WAS THINKING I BOUGHT A NICE RELIABLE CAR, NOT KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED ALREADY. I AM HOPING THAT THIS LETTER AMONG OTHERS WILL FURTHER CONVINCE NISSAN TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM CONSIDERING IT SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THESE CARS THANK YOU VERY MUCH. *NM
MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH ONLY 46,000 MILES ON IT NEEDED A MAJOR REPAIR THAT ENDED UP COSTING ME $1,000. THE REPAIR WAS THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL CYLINDER COILS BECAUSE THEY WERE MISFIRING. *NM
CHECK ENGINE SIGN CAME ON IN MY NISSAN MAXIMA SE 2000. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP FOR A INSPECTION AND MY CAR FAILED STATE EMISSION TEST. ALSO MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY CAR HAD DTC P1320 AND P0302, IGNITION SIGNAL PROBLEM AND CYLINDER MISFIRE. *JB
NISSAN MAXIMA 2000 IGNITION COILS WERE REPLACED TODAY AT AN ASTRONOMICAL PRICE ON A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE WITH AVERAGE MILES. RESEARCH INDICATES THIS VEHICLE HAS PREMATURELY FAILING IGNITION COILS AND PROBLEM IS PERVASIVE. NHTSA SHOULD FORCE A RECALL SINCE CLEARLY THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS RESET BY THE DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER IT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL DISCOVERED THE OXYGEN SENSOR AND THE COIL PACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 02/07/06. *JB
MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA HAD LESS 24,000 MILES WHEN MY MECHANIC RECENTLY REPORTED IT NEEDED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. HE SAID THIS DOESN'T OCCUR UNTIL ABOUT 80,000 MILES AND IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP FROM THE MANUFACTURER. WITHOUT THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR MY CAR WILL NOT PASS THE SMOG TEST. NISSAN CORPORATION REFUSES REPAIR ASSISTANCE BECAUSE OF THE END OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD EVEN THOUGH THE MILEAGE IS FAR BELOW THAT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE ONLY EXPLANATION IS A DEFECT IN NISSAN'S MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP THAT THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. *NM
2000 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH 42000 MILE IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION, GENERATES PRE-IGNITION KNOCK. HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AND SHOWN NISSAN SERVICE BULLETIN NO: EC01-023 - NTB01-059 INDICATING FREQUENT PREMATURE FAILURE OF SUCH PARTS. NISSAN TO-DATE HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL OR EXPRESSED WILLINGNESS TO PAY FOR SUCH REPAIRS TO THE TUNE OF ABOUT $800 PER VEHICLE. SUCH WIDESPREAD FAILING, OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE PARTS SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *NM

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED DURING ACCELERATION, AND THEN STAYED ON, COINCIDING WITH POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE. OCCURRED REPEATEDLY OVER SEVERAL YEAR PERIOD. EVENTUALLY REPLACED ALL IGNITION COILS WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM (OLD COILS KEPT). *TR

OUR 2000 MAXIMA ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO STARTED RUNNING ROUGH FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME ON AND OFF EVERY 2 WEEKS. THIS WEEK THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET I DISCOVERED THAT MANY OTHER MAXIMA OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE IGNITION COIL ARE GOING BAD. A NISSAN DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE ONLY 46900 MILES ON MY CAR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. MY NISSAN DEALER WANTS $105.00 PER IGNITION COIL PLUS INSTALLATION. OVER $800.00 I TOLD HIM I WILL NEVER PAY THAT PRICE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MIDAS. THEY WILL PURCHASE THE COILS AND INSTALL THEM AT A MUCH LESS LABOR COST. I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER NISSAN AS I FEEL THEY HAD A DEFECTIVE PARTS DOOMED TO FAIL. I AM PENALIZED FOR NOT DRIVING MORE MILES BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. I CAN ORDER ON LINE THESE COILS FOR $65.00 EACH FROM ANOTHER NISSAN DEALER. WHAT MAKES ME AGGRAVATED MY LOCAL DEALER IN CLEARWATER FLORIDA OFFERS ME NO DISCOUNT ON PARTS OR BREAK ON THE LABOR KNOWING THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. NISSAN SHOULD AT LEAST REIMBURSE ME FOR PART OF THIS REPAIR OR OFFER A DISCOUNT ON THESE PARTS. THIS COST ME $815. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS APPARENTLY WIDESPEAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR AND CONTINUES TO FLEECE ITS CUSTOMERS. ALL YOU NEED DO IS SEARCH NET FOR CUSTOMERS TALKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *NM
I HAVE A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THOUSANDS OF OTHER PURCHASERS OF THIS SAME MODEL. WITH 79,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CODE INDICATES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION COILS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE PLUGS BUT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AFTER A COUPLE DAYS. THE QUOTED REPAIR COST IS $800. BASED ON THE LARGE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL BY NISSAN. *NM
ON OR ABOUT WHEN MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA REACHED 52,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE MY 6 IGNITION COILS. ACCORDING TO OTHER MECHANICS THESE COILS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR OR AT THE VERY LEAST MUCH LONGER THAN 52,000 MILES. I HAD REPLACED ONE DUE TO THE COST OF $84.00 A PIECE AND A LABOR COST OF $280.00. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT I WAS TOLD THAT EVENTUALLY ALL THE COILS WOULD FAIL. WELL, THAT DAY HAS COME AND I MUST REPLACE ALL THE REMAINING COILS. IN SPRING OF 2005, HAD VEHICLE IN FOR HVAC FAN NOT TURNING OFF. NISSAN DEALER FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AUTO TURNOFF MODULE. IN DECEMBER 2005, HVAC FAN WOULD NOT TURN ON, NISSAN DEALER CHARGED $500+ TO REPLACE AUTO TURN ON MODULE. SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY LIKE THE AUTO TURN OFF MODULE, IN MY OPINION. *JB
AT 57,000 MILES A CODE WAS PULLED FROM ECUP0740 DIAG. POSS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM (UNKNOWN) COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM, $152 FEE. RETURNED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES FOR ENGINE RPM REV. VEHICLE WANTS TO MOVE WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP. RESET AND REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER (ECU). I WORE BREAKS OUT SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE E-BRAKE.($1,000) FINALLY THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WAS FOUND REPAIRED (2) O2 SENSORS $610.00. SAME PROBLEM OCCURS 2 MONTHS LATER. FOUND BAD ECU, CORE RETURN IACV-AAC VALVE. ($914.00). AGAIN 3 MONTHS LATER VEHICLE PERFORMING THE SAME WAY, FOUND AND REPLACED ANOTHER SENSOR OH THIS ONE WAS UNDER WARRANTY PER NISSAN. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE IS PERFORMING THE SAME WAY AND NEEDS TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER FOR MORE REPAIRS. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT HART NISSAN, AND HE RECOMMENDS THAT WHEN YOU REPLACE ONE SENSOR ALL SIX SHOULD BE REPLACED. I KNOW TWO PEOPLE WHO OWN THE 2000 MAXIMA AND THEY ALSO HAD THEIR SENSORS REPAIRED. I HAVE BEEN A NISSAN OWNER FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS AND OWNED SIX VEHICLES MYSELF/WIFE. I AM IN THE MARKET FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE OTHER NISSAN EVER AGAIN. THIS SENSOR PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT IDENTIFY THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE COIL AND REPLACE IT ALONE. DEALERSHIP REQUIRED ALL SIX ENGINE COILS BE REPLACED DUE TO NISSAN DIRECTIVE. *NM
I HAVE PURCHASED THREE (3) NISSAN MAXIMAS YEAR 2000. ALL HAVE DEVELOPED DEFECTIVE IGNITION COILS WHICH ARE VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. ALL NISSAN MAXIMAS HAVE THIS PROBLEM - IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL. *NM
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHENEVER IT WAS COLD, BELOW 40 DEGREES. HAD SES CODE READ. BAD IGNITION COILS. CAR RAN VERY ROUGH WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED. *AK.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO START THE VEHICLE. THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE WAS GRADUAL WORSENING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH.
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MAXIMA GLE THAT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A NEW BULB FOR THE LIGHT. UPON INSTALLATION OF THE NEW LIGHT BULB IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BULBS PLUG WAS FUSED AND BURNED IN THAT PARTICULAR HEADLIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO NOTED THE BULB COULD NOT BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE BULB WERE CONNECTED TO AN ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS THAT WAS CONNECTED TO LIGHTING WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED AT THIS POINT. *AK UPDATED 11/29/2005. THE CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE/SAFETY HAZARD. *NM

CYLINDER MISFIRE- PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. CAR UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES. REPLACED 6 COILS, REPLACED EGI WIRING HARNESS, REPLACED AIR FILTER, THROTTLE BODY SERVICE, REPLACED BATTERY. OVER $3,000.00 WORTH OF REPAIRS. *JB
I DRIVE A WELL MAINTAINED 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA SE THAT IS REGULARLY SERVICED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP AT 100,000 DUE TO "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS TO REPLACE ALL 6 IGNITION COILS - BECAUSE 1 WAS LIKELY BAD, THEY COULDN'T TELL WHICH ONE, AND THAT ONCE ONE GOES THE OTHERS FOLLOW SUIT. THEY WANTED $1400. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED, BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO RECALL THIS PART. HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF 2000 MAXIMA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THESE IGNITION COILS. IT MAKES ME WRONDER ABOUT NISSAN THESE DAYS. *JB
I HAVE 49K MILES ON MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA WHEN THE DEALER TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL 6 IGNITION COILS. THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR AND MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
