FRONT STRUTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND WERE IN NEED OF A THIRD SET. WITH 37000 MILES THE DEALER SAID THIS SET WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY WON'T WARRANTY THEM. THEY PLAID DOWN THE PROBLEM. ANYONE THAT DID ANY RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM KNEW IT WAS A DESIGN DEFECT. NISSAN ALSO KNEW AND FAILED TO DO THE RIGHT THING. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE CONTAINS THE ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A (P245/45R18) TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE CRACKED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THEM WITH FOUR NEW MICHELIN TIRES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 15,695 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SE 3.5 LITER V6 WITH A MANUFACTURER'S STANDARD TIRE SIZE OF P245/45R18. CURRENTLY GOODYEAR IS HAVING A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT ON THE TIRES LISTED ABOVE. THE SIDE WALLS ON THESE TIRES ARE SPLITTING AND THEY ARE DOING A RECALL ON THEM...I GUESS THEY ARE GOING TO REACTIVE RATHER THAN PROACTIVE...JUST LIKE FIRESTONE. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW BEFORE SOMEONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE REASON I AM WRITING IS BECAUSE I HAVE THOSE SAME TIRES INSTALLED AND THEY ARE SPLITTING AROUND THE SIDE WALL AND THE ONLY REASON I KNOW ABOUT THIS IS THE DEALER STATED THAT GOODYEAR KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT IS RELUCTANT TO INITIATE A RECALL...WORRIED ABOUT DOLLARS RATHER THAN SAVING LIVES. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT A SMALL SPLIT BUT RATHER A SPLIT THAT COVERS ALMOST 3/4 OF THE RADIUS. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND ASSISTANCE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR, SIZE P245/45R18 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH OR GREATER, THE CONTACT HEARD A CONSISTENT LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR A TIRE ALIGNMENT, BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD A NINE INCH CRACK ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALLS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,008 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED THE REPAIR INVOICE AND PICTURES OF THE DEFECTS ON THE TIRE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER PROVIDED A CHECK FOR THE TIRES BUT CONSUMER STATED IT DOES NOT COVER THE COST OF THE WORRIES AND HEADACHE DEALING WITH THE TIRES. UPDATED 08/23/07 *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING THE NIGHT, THE GLASS OF THE ELECTRIC SUNROOF SHATTERED AND BROKE. IT WAS RAINING, SO THE ROOF LINING AND THE SUNROOF COVER GOT DAMAGED BY THE WATER. THERE IS NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING AND BREAKING THE GLASS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A RECALL OF OTHER MAXIMAS FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS (WITH THE SKYVIEW). THE PARTS ARE ORDERED AND WILL ARRIVE IN 2 TO 3 WEEKS. THE OLD PARTS ARE STILL ON THE CAR, WHICH CAN NOT BE USED WHEN RAINING. THE TOTAL ESTIMATED BILL IS GOING TO BE OVER $2,800 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. *JB
2004 MAXIMA STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIES BETWEEN 40-60 MPH VERY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS GETTING LOW ON AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE STATION, AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD HER THE TIRE HAD A CRACK AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE GOODYEAR DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD CRACKS ON THE INSIDE BEADING. THE CONSUMER HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AND NO LONGER EXPERIENCED A DEFECT. *AK (12/02/05) *SC
LOUD RATTLE HOLLOW SOUNDS FROM FRONT END . REPLACED STRUTS NOW 4 TIMES IN 8 MONTHS I THINK A RECALL IS IN ORDER I WISH MORE PEOPLE WOULD COMPLAIN. *JB
NO INCIDENTS LED UP TO FAILURE. WENT TO NISSAN DEALER AND COMPLAINED OF ROAD NOISE FROM FRONT OF CAR. DEALER SAID 2 TIRES WERE CRACKED AND POSED A DANGER OF COMING APART. SAID THEY WOULD BE LIABLE IF ALLOWED ME TO LEAVE WITHOUT NEW TIRES. INVESTIGATED ON THE INTERNET: THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF GOODYEAR EAGLE TIRES ON 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA'S (OEM) THAT HAVE DEVELOPED DANGEROUS CRACKS. THESE SHOULD BE RECALLED. CRACKS ARE APPEARING ON "SIDE FACING INWARD" PART OF TIRES NOT EASILY VISABLE BY CONSUMERS. MILEAGE ON TIRES WAS 30348. WAS TOLD TO TAKE TIRES TO GOODYEAR DEALER BUT HAVE NOT GOTTEN THERE YET.
3RD PROBLEM WITH MAXIMA: PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA BRAND NEW. AFTER 2 MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT I SPOKE ABOUT IN TWO EARLIER COMPLAINTS, I AM NOT ON #3. IN OCTOBER, 2005, TWO WEEKS BEFORE MY WEDDING, WHILE MY AREA WAS GETTING SOME RAIN. I GOT IN MY CAR AS USUAL TO BEGIN DRIVING TO WORK, WHEN I NOTICED A BIG PUDDLE ON MY PASSENGER LEATHER SEAT. MY SUNROOF WAS LEAKING. WHEN I CALLED NISSAN IN HUNTINGTON, NY, AGAIN, I HAD TO WAIT DAYS BEFORE I CAN GET AN APPOINTMENT, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL RAINING. THE DEALERSHIP VERIFIED THE SUN ROOF GLASS SEAL WAS LEAKING AND THE REPLACED SUNROOF GLASS ASSEMBLY. THEY ACTUALLY GAVE ME A RENT A CAR THIS TIME, BECAUSE I COMPLAINT TO A MANAGER. *NM
I BOUGHT THIS 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA AT DIFEO NISSAN DEALERSHIP OF JERSEY CITY. SINCE I GOT IT, I HAD TO TAKE IT FOUR TIMES TO THE DEALER TO CHANGE FRONT STRUTS. RIGHT NOW AS I AM SENDING YOU THIS EMAIL, I CAN HEAR THAT SOUND AGAIN. THIS IS CAUSING ME A LOT OF INCONVIENCE, SO I WOULD BE GLAD IF SOMEONE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. DT: 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND REAR TIRE SPLIT ON THE SIDEWALLS. THE FRONT TIRE SPLIT ON THE COMPLETE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE TIRE, BETWEEN THE WHEEL AND THE TREAD. THESE WERE GOODYEAR TIRES, P245/45R18. THESE WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES FOR THE VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE OTHER TWO TIRES. *AK
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH 24K MILES. EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE R-SA P245/45R18 TIRES. LEFT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR TIRES SHOWS SIGNS OF SIDEWALL SEPARATION (ONE INCH FROM RIM). TREAD DEPTH WAS MEASURED AT 7/32 AND 8/32. TALKED WITH DEALER WHO SAID HE HAD ANOTHER MAXIMA GOODYEAR REPLACED THE TIRES ON DUE TO SIDEWALL SEPARATION. GOODYEAR HAS OFFERED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TIRES AT LESS THAN THE PRO-RATED WARRANTY AMOUNT. THIS COMPLAINT IS MEANT TO BRING ATTENTION TO POSSIBLY A "BAD" PRODUCTION RUN OR ENGINEERED DEFECT. *NM
DT: 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT HAS CONTINENTAL, CONTITOURING , TIRE, SIZE P225/55/R17 LEAKED AIR ALMOST TO THE POINT OF BEING FLAT. THIS HAPPENS OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, SUCH AS TWO WEEKS, THESE LEAKS WERE SLOW, AND OCCURRED FOUR TIRES. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND HEARD A POP, PULLED OVE,R AND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT ON THE RIM. THIS OCCURRED NEAR A GAS STATION ,AND CONSUMER DROVE THERE TO GAS STATION TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE, BUT THE AIR SYSTEM AT THE GAS STATION WOULD NOT WORK. CALLED FAMILY MEMBER TO BRING AN AIR PIGGY AND THE TIRE WOULD NOT INFLATE. WAITED FOR TIRE DEALER TO OPEN BECAUSE THIS WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THEY COULD NOT INFLATE THE TIRE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THEY NOTE THA T INSIDE OF THE TIRE RUNNING VERTICALLY FROM THE RIM TO THE TOP OF THE TIRE HAD A SPLIT. DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION THIS COULD NOT BE REPAIRED , AND A NEW TIRE WOULD HAVE TO BE PURCHASED. CONTACTED DEALER, WHO SUGGESTED DISCUSSING THIS MATTER WITH TIRE MANUFACTURER. CONTACTED CONTINENTAL, WHO SAID CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO TAKETIRE TO AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER WHICH WAS A CONSIDERABLE DRIVE FOR INSPECTION OF THE TIRE. CALLED A SECOND TIME, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND OUT A CALL TAG AND REQUEST TIRES BACK. CONSUMER HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND AND PAID FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET. HAVE NOT SENT THOSE TIRES TO CONTINENTAL AT THIS TIME. *AK
WHEN ACCELERATING, THERE'S A RATTLING SOUND/NOISE COMING FROM AROUND THE ENGINE AREA. *NM
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS IGNITION COILS REPLACED OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST 16 MONTHS. SEVERAL TIMES INCURRING WEEKS WITHOUT THE VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS RESULTING IN PART REPLACEMENT AND THE ENGINE CATCHING ON FIRE. NISSAN CORPORATE SENT TECHNICIANS TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE AND HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE, SAYING FORTUNATELY I STOPPED THE VEHICLE BEFORE THE FIRE GOT OUT OF CONTROL. UNDER THE HOOD WAS CHARRED AND MELTED PLASTIC AND OIL. SINCE HAVING THE ENGINE REPLACED, I HAVE GONE 9 MONTHS AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH COIL FAILURES AND REPLACEMENT. I AM PERUSING LEMON LAW ACTION AT THIS TIME BUT NEED TO SEE WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE. I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTIME I SMELL SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY, I FEAR THAT I WILL SEE MORE SMOKE AND ANOTHER FIRE. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE GROUND WIRE FROM THE BATTERY WAS SHORTING OUT AGAINST THE BODY OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THE WIRE THAT WAS REPLACE 9 MONTHS AGO WAS REPLACED AGAIN TWO WEEKS AGO FOR CORRODING COMPLETELY THROUGH AND MAKING CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE AGAIN. *JB
DT: CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT STRUT PROBLEMS. THEY KEPT WEARING OUT. FIRST HAPPENED ON 8-23-04, AND DEALER REPAIRED IT. THE LAST TIME THE STRUTS WERE REPAIRED WAS ON 8-8-05. ALSO, HAD FRONT END VIBRATION . THEY SANDED DOWN THE BRAKE PADS AND THAT FIXED THE VIBRATION PROBLEM. *AK
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA AT 66,000 MILES. AT 34,000 MILES, I HAD A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WITH A MILD SLIPPING AND HARD SHIFT AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THINKING THIS HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THEIR "NEW ADVERTISED" SHIFT 2.0 FEATURE, I CONTINUED TO USE IT. AS TIME WE ON, THIS PROBLEM BECAME WORSE AND WORSE AND NOW WHEN I TAKE IT INTO NISSAN, THEY SAY NOW IT IS A PROBLEM WITH AN "INTERNAL FAILURE" AND TOO BAD, PAY THEM $3,800. WHEN I CHALLENGED THIS ISSUE AND PROVIDED PROOF THAT I HAVE SERVICED MY ENTIRE CAR INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION PROPERLY, NISSAN REP TOLD ME THAT "NISSAN WOULD CONSIDER MY ISSUE IF I WAS A MORE LOYAL CUSTOMER TO THEM AND HAD MY SERVICE DONE WITH THEM". I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EARS. IF I DIDN'T PAY TRIPLE THE CHARGE AMOUNTS FOR THE SAME SERVICE THROUGH THEM, THEY WOULD CONSIDER MY "INTERNAL FAILURE" IN MY TRANSMISSION AS A PROBLEM OF THEIRS. I COULDN'T AND STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THIS WAS SAID TO ME. THEIR ARE A QUITE A FEW NOTED FAILURES OF THIS TRANSMISSION LISTED ON A WEB-SITE ON THE INTERNET. THESE CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND YOUR CAR WANT SHIFT GEARS WHILE YOUR CROSSING INTO AN INTERSECTION. YOU NEED TO ASSIST IN THIS ISSUE. *TR

MAXIMA 2004 HAS EAGLE RS-A 245-45 TIRES WHICH BECAME CRACKED IN A CIRCULAR PATTERN AT 32,000. GOODYEAR REPLACED TIRES AND OFFERED PRORATE, BUT COST WAS STILL $555.00. INTERNET MAXIMA OWNERS HAVE FOUND CRACKS ON INSIDE OF TIRE AS WELL AS EARLY AS 16,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS DANGEROUS. THE NOISE WAS GREATER, THE GRIP OF THE TIRE SEEMED TO BE LESS, THE BUMPS ON THE ROAD WERE MORE NOTICEABLE, AND THE TIRES FELT "WISHY-WASHY" AT TIMES. ONCE I PUT ON THE NEW TIRES AGAIN WITH EAGLE RS-A THE CAR FELT TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND BETTER, ALTHOUGH IT WAS BITTER SWEET TO HAVE THE SAME TIRES AGAIN. CAN YOU HELP IN THIS MATTER PLEASE? *NM
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STRUTS FROM DAY ONE. ALSO THE CAR HAS A SHIMMY AT A CERTAIN SPEED
BOTH FRONT STRUTS MAKE NOISE WHEN GOING OVER ALL BUMPS IN ROAD. FRONT OF CAR IS BECOMING BOUNCY WHEN DRIVING OVER TIME DUE TO STRUTS FAILING AND EXCESSIVE NOISE.. WILL BECOME DANGEROUS TO DRIVE SOON. DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT STRUTS. *NM
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THE INSIDE SIDEWALLS OF ALL 4 TIRES WERE SHOWING CRACKS, AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE HAD CRACKS AND A BULGE COMING OUT. THIS WAS WHEN THE CAR HAD ONLY ABOUT 26,000 MILES. HE SAID THE COST TO REPLACE THE TIRES IS $245 EACH TIRE, PLUS INSTALLATION COSTS. HE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE AT LEAST THE TWO FRONT TIRES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I THEN TOOK THE MAXIMA TO A DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALER FOR THEIR OPINION AS WELL. THAT DEALERSHIP AGREED THAT ALL 4 TIRES HAD CRACKS ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALLS, AND THE BULGE WAS THERE ON THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES. I TOLD THEM IT SEEMS ABSURD THAT TIRES THAT ARE SO NEW WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT, AND THEY SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES AND I SHOULD GO TO GOODYEAR TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER ALL OR PART OF THE REPLACEMENT COST. I CALLED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS (1-800-NISSAN-1) AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING, IT IS NOT NISSAN'S RESPONSIBILITY, BUT GOODYEARS'. GOING TO GOODYEAR THIS AFTERNOON TO HAVE THEM CHECKED -- AND IF SAFETY RISK EXISTS I WILL OF COURSE HAVE TO BUY NEW TIRES. I HAVE A WIFE AND A 21-MONTH OLD BABY, AND CANNOT RISK A BLOWOUT OR SOME OTHER CATASTROPHE THAT MAY CAUSE INJURY TO MY FAMILY. NO TIRES SHOULD FAIL LIKE THIS SO QUICKLY. GENERAL RULE IS IF SOME OBJECT OR THING GOES INTO A TIRE, THAT IS JUST A RISK THAT THE OWNER MUST BEAR. BUT IF THE TIRES SHOW PROBLEMS COMING FROM THE INSIDE OUT, THAT INDICATES A TIRE DEFECT. CONSUMER IS A OWNER OF 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH EAGLE RSAP24/45R18 V GOODYEAR TIRES ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBIT CRACKS IN THE UPPER INTERIOR SIDEWALL. *MC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IN EARLY SEPTEMBER WHILE CHANGING THE OIL, THE VEHICLE WAS RAISED ON RACKS AND THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT ALL TIRES EXHIBITED CRACKS IN THE UPPER INTERIOR SIDEWALL AND THEY WERE NOISY IMMEDIATELY, THE CONTACT PURCHASED ALL NEW TIRES AMOUNTING TO $923.97. THE CONSUMER STATED WANTS TO REIMBURSED FOR THE TIRES. ALSO, THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PICTURES OF THE DEFECT. *TR
THE NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED 4 NEW TIRES FOR A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE TIRES WERE CRACKED ON ALL 4 TIRES ON THE INSIDE TIRE WALLS. THESE ARE THOSE GOODYEAR 245 45 18 THAT CAME ON THE CAR. THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE!
I'VE GOT A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. I HAVE APROX 21,000 MILES ON IT. MY GOODYEAR RSA TIRES (OEM) HAVE STARTED TO SPLIT ON THE SIDE WALL. MY TIRES STILL HAVE OVER 60% OF THE TREAD LEFT. GOODYEAR IS PRORATING THE TIRES AT 25% OF TIRE WEAR USED. MY CONCERN IS THAT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MY MAXIMA IS NOT THE ONLY CAR THAT HAS HAD TROUBLE WITH THESE TIRES. IT WOULD BE HORRIBLE, IF SOMEONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT AND HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE SIDE OF THEIR TIRE BLEW OUT. IN SEPTEMBER 2004 I TOOK MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA IN FOR SOME WARRANTY WORK, AND SCHEDULED MAINTAINENCE. I ADVISED THAT MY FRONT END FELT FUNNY, I EVENTUALLY HAD TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR THE SKYROOF RECALL AND AGAIN ADVISED THAT THE CAR STILL FELT ROUGH, I WAS ADVISED IT WAS JUST FROM THE TIRE ROTATION AND WOULD EVENTUALLY SMOOTH OUT, IT NEVER DID. THE SKYROOF STARTED LEAKING AND IT TOOK THREE MORE TRIPS TO GET IT FIXED, EVERY TIME I TOOK MY CAR IN I TOLD THE SERVICE DEPT. THAT THE CAR STILL FELT ROUGH. ON JUNE 15, 2005 I TOOK MY CAR BACK IN FOR THE 30,000 MILE MAINTAINENCE. THE SERVICE DEPT. CALLED AND SAID ALL FOUR OF MY TIRES WERE COMING APART ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL, THE TIRES WERE ACTUALLY SPLITTING THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFRENCE OF ALL FOUR TIRES. THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN TIRES SPLIT LIKE THAT. THE SERVICE DEPT. CALLED GOODYEAR AND WERE TOLD THEY WERE HAVING A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THOSE TIRES AND WOULD SELL ME NEW ONES FOR $900.00 THE DEALER DECLINED THAT PRICE AND GOODYEAR CAME UP WITH A PRICE OF $550.00 FOR NEW TIRES I WAS CALLED AND TOLD OF THE FINAL PRICE AND ADVISED THE DEALER I WOULD BE CONTACTING AN ATTORNEY. THEN DEALER THEN CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY HAD A SET OF TIRES AND RIMS THEY WOULD SELL ME FOR $400.00 I AGREED BECAUSE I WAS LEAVING FOR A TRIP TO INDIANA THE NEXT MORNING. THE TIRES THAT THEY PUT ON MY CAR WERE THE SAME EXACT GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A P245/45R18 THAT WERE DEFECTIVE. MY HUSBAND CALLED A FRIEND AT A LOCAL TIRE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE SEEING ALOT OF THOSE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE GOODYEAR EAGE RS-A. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT A COMPANY WOULD ENDANGER THE LIVES OF THE VERY CONSUMERS THAT BUY AND TRUST THEIR PRODUCTS TO BE SAFE. I SENT A LETTER TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT ON JUNE 20, 2005 DOCUMENTING ALL THE PROBLEMS, AND HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE SO I HAVE TURNED TO YOU FOR SOME GUIDANCE AS TO MY RIGHTS TO BE WARNED AND PROTECTED WHEN THEY KNOW THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR DIASTER WITH THEIR PRODUCT.

I'VE HAD A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL/STABILITY CONTROL. THE YAW/G FORCE SENSOR FAILED. PRIOR TO THIS BEING DISCOVERED BY A CODE ON THE CAR'S COMPUTER, I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT ON DRY ROADS, ON STRAIGHT ALWAYS AND CURVES AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 25 AND 45, THE PASSENGER FRONT BRAKE WOULD ENGAGE WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CAR WOULD PULL VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT. DEALER INVESTIGATED AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE EXPERIENCES. ON SAT. 5/30 IN UNDER 10 MINUTES 3 TIMES I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN AND UNCONTROLLABLE APPLICATION OF THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE WHICH PULLED ME OFF THE ROAD AND ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD 2 TIMES AND THE APPLICATION OF BOTH FRONT BRAKES WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO COME TO A SUDDEN FULL STOP. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. WHEN THIS FAILURE HAPPENS IT IS UN ANNOUNCED, SUDDEN VIOLENT AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON. NISSAN CONFIRMS THE SENSOR HAS FAILED. OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS, THE "SLIP" INDICATOR LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD WOULD BLINK AS THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WOULD HEAR A GRINDING NOISE. MY NISSAN DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS EVENT. WHEN THIS LOCK UP WOULD HAPPEN, THE CAR "PULLED" VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT AND I WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. WHEN THESE EVENTS WOULD HAPPEN MY VEHICLE SPEED WOULD BE BETWEEN 25 AND 40 MPH AND ON A DRY ROAD AND EITHER DRIVING STRAIGHT OR AROUND A MINOR CURVE. ON SAT. 5/30 WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 35 AND 45 MPH THE SLIP LIGHT CAME ON 3 TIMES WITHIN 10 MINUTES. THE FIRST TIME A VIOLENT PULL TO THE RIGHT WITH LOSS OF CONTROL CAUSING ME TO GO ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE SECOND TIME, BOTH FRONT BRAKES ENGAGED AND THE CAR ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE CAR BEHIND ME MISSED REAR ENDING ME BY 5-6 FEET. THE THIRD TIME BOTH FRONT WHEELS LOCKED UP PULLING ME TO THE RIGHT. NO DAMAGE. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THESE EVENTS HAPPEN. SUDDEN AND SHOCKING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA 3.5 SE IN JULY, 2003. IT HAS ALUMINUM WHEELS ("RIMS") AND LOW PROFILE TIRES. IN MARCH, 2005, I HIT A POTHOLE, WHICH FLATTENED THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE AND DENTED THE RIM. I HAD TO CHANGE THE TIRE, AND THEN REPLACED THAT RIM (TIRE WAS OK). IN MAY, 2005, MY FRONT DRIVER TIRE WAS LOW. I DROVE A HALF MILE AT 20 MPH TO THE CLOSEST GAS STATION AND FILLED THE TIRE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO INVESTIGATE WHY IT WAS LOW. THEY NOTED THAT THE RIM WAS CRACKED, SAID IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THAT WAY, AND PUT THE "DONUT" SPARE ON IN PLACE OF THE CRACKED RIM. BESIDES THE CRACKED RIM BEING A SAFETY ISSUE (THE DEALER SAYS THAT I "MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING", AND CLAIMS TO HAVE NO WARRANTY LIABILITY), I BELIEVE THE WHEEL/TIRE DESIGN OF THE 2004 MAXIMA IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 32 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A RIM ON A CAR. NOW IN THE SPACE OF A MONTH OR TWO, I HAD A DENTED RIM THAT STRANDED ME IN A REMOTE AREA UNTIL I COULD CHANGE THE TIRE, AND NOW A CRACKED RIM THAT I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY REMOVE FROM THE CAR. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER IT IS BECAUSE THE RIM IS ALUMINUM AND PERHAPS BRITTLE AND NOT STURDY, OR BECAUSE LOW PROFILE TIRES LEAVE RELATIVELY LITTLE TIRE BETWEEN THE ROAD AND THE RIM, MAKING "EVERYDAY POTHOLES" THAT ARE COMMON IN THE NORTHEAST IN THE SPRINGTIME A HAZARD TO THE WHEELS ("RIMS"). THE TIRE SIDEWALL WAS NOT PROPERLY MADE AND DEPENDING ON MILES (I HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM ON MAXIMA'S WITH MILEAGE RANGING FROM 4,000 MILES UP TO 30,000). GOODYEAR STATES YOU SHOULD CONTINUELY INSPECT THEM AND IF CRACKING OCCURS, THEN THEY WILL REPLACE THEM. I AM VERY COCERNED FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY WHEN DRIVING NOW, ESPECIALLY LONG DISTANCE, I MAY BE ABLE TO INSPECT THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALLS, HOWEVER NOT THE INNER. WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY THE STEERING WHEEL MOVES TO DRIVER'S MEMORY POSITION. MY CAR WAS STUCK UPRIGHT. IT WAS STUCK SO HIGH UP IT WAS LIKE DRIVING A BUS AND VERY HARD TO TURN. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE STEERING WHEEL UP LIKE A BUS DRIVER. IT WAS DANGEROUS AND VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND HAD TO MANUALLY ADJUST MY STEERING WHEEL TO A MORE COMFORTABLE POSITION SO I CAN DRIVE MY CAR UNTIL THE PART CAME IN. ON 3/11/05 THE DEALERSHIP FINALLY REPLACED THE INOP TILT MOTOR. ALSO, MY TRUNK STILL POPS OPEN SOMETIMES IN REVERSE.
EAGLE RSA P245/45R18 I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA DOWN RT. 3 EAST IN NJ GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN I FELT THE CAR START TO VIBRATE AND SHAKE TERRIBLY I REALIZED I HAD A FLAT. BEFORE I COULD EVEN HAVE ANY REACTION, THE CAR JERKED TO THE LEFT, THEN TO THE RIGHT, I TRIED TO STOP IT AND I SPUN OUT OF CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAY AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR WHO WAS TRYING TO PASS ON MY RIGHT. MY CAR CAME TO A REST WITH MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND MY CAR BLOCKING OFF THE LEFT AND THE MIDDLE LANE, AND LITERALLY 1 INCH FROM CRASHING INTO THE CONCRETE DIVIDER. LUCKILY ONCOMING TRAFFIC STOPPED, AND THE PASSENGER AND MYSELF IN MY CAR WERE NOT INJURED. HOWEVER THERE WERE TWO PEOPLE IN THE OTHER CAR WE HIT CLAIMING INJURY AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE INSIDE WALL OF THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME HE NEVER SAW ANY TIRE LIKE THAT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THIS, I BOUGHT A $30,000 CAR, AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. WINDSHIELD CRACK WITHOUT ANY APPARENT CAUSE. CRACK STARTED AT THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER EDGE OF WINDOW AND SPREAD ACROSS 1/2 OF WINDSHIELD WITHIN A FEW HOURS. NO EVIDENCE OF ANY OBJECT STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. VEHICLE IS KEPT GARAGED AT NIGHT AND ONLY HAS 5400 MILES AFTER 6 MONTHS USE.*AK
I WILL INCLUDE ALL OF MY PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH MY 04 MAXIMA SE. THE FIRST MAJOR PROBEM I HAD WAS MY FRONT RIGHT STRUT WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. PROBLEM FIXED. NEXT, PROBLEM WAS ON OCCASOION MY CAR WOULDNT START FIRST DEALER TRIP THEY TOLD ME THEIR WAS NO PROBLEM AND THE NEXT TIME LEAVE THE CAR DEAD AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED. SO, IT HAPPEND AGAIN HAD THE CAR TOWED AND THEN THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR THE PRO-RATED BATTERY. SO, IT HAPPEND AGAIN HAD THE CAR TOWED AND NOW THEY REPLACED THE ELECTRIAL MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE HEADLIGHTS. PROBLEM HAS BEEN FINE FOR 2 WEEKS +. NOW THE LEFT FRONT STRUT WENT OUT AND WONDERING WHEN I SHOULD BRING THE CAR IN AGAIN. I HAVE 25000 MILE AND NOT YET 2YRS OLD AND THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR ATLEAST 7 TIMES. I HATE MY 35K DOLLAR CAR.*AK
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SL. IT HAS 21,450 MILES ON IT. DURING A REGULAR MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE AT THE DEALERSHIP, I FOUND OUT THAT ALL 4 OEM CONTINENTAL TIRES HAD LONGITUDINAL CRACKS ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE TIRE WAARANTY AND THEY SENT ME TO THE LOCAL CONTINENTAL DISTRIBUTOR FOR TIRE CHECKUP. THE DISTRIBUTOR FOUND INDEED THAT ALL TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPALCEMENT AND THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME NOT DRIVE THE CAR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME OR IN THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE TIRE MIGHT FAIL. EVEN TOUGH BOTH THE TIRE DISTRIBUTOR AND THE DEALER AGREE THAT THESE TIRES NEED REPALCEMENT, BOTH ARE BLAMING EACH OTHE AND GIVING ME THE LONG RUN. FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. I TRULY BELEIVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TIRE MANUFACTURER SHOULD SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AS SOON AS PRACTICAL. CAN YOU HELP?*AK
