BRAND NEW 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA, DRIVEN NORMALLY FOR MONTHS AND RECENTLY STARTED NOTICING THE STRUTS MAKING A BANGING NOISE OVER NORMAL LIGHT ROAD BUMPS. THE RIDE QUALITY HAS SINCE DETERIORATED AND IS NOW REACHING THE POINT OF BEING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. IT HAS BEEN TO TWO NISSAN DEALERS SO FAR WHO REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND KEEP TRYING TO BLAME IT ON ME, MEANWHILE HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM, AND MANY OTHER DEALERSHIPS ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING DONE AT THE COROPRATE LEVEL FROM NISSAN TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. ALLOWING THE DEALERS TO DECIDE WHAT IS GOOD AND BAD, WHILE HALF OF THE PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE IS SOLVING NOTHING, AND ONLY CREATING MORE OF A HAZARD AND HASSLE FOR ALL MAXIMA OWNERS.*AK
I TOOK POSSESSION OF MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA IN THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY 2005. I NOTICED A CONSTANT, BUT GRADUAL TIRE PRESSURE ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THE TIRE HAD TO BE PATCHED. I ASKED ABOUT THE ACTUAL SIDEWALL AND THEY DID NOT FEEL THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS INVOLVING THE SIDEWALLS. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALERSHIP THAT FELT THERE WAS INDEED SOME MANUFACTURER PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THIS ISSUE. THEY EXPLAINED THAT IF I CHOSE TO I COULD INITIATE A CLAIM WITH BOTH OR EITHER THE GOOD YEAR EAGLE MANUFACTURER OR NISSAN. THE GOOD YEAR EAGLES INSTALLED ON MY MAXIMA HAD LESS THAN 11,000 MILES AND AS THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT AMENABLE TO RECONCILING THEIR OPINION ON THE TIRES TO THAT OF AN INDEPENDENT TIRE INSPECTION I DECIDED THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION WAS TO REPLACE THE GOOD YEAR EAGLE TIRES WITH NOKIAN TIRES. THIS REPLACEMENT OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 6, 2006 WITH ONLY 11,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. I WAS VERY HESITANT TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE TIRE PRESSURE. I WAS FILLING THE TIRES EVERY TWO-THREE DAYS TO MAINTAIN SOME TYPE OF SAFETY WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I APPLIED FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT ON THE GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A TIRES MY CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE REPLACEMENT WAS DUE TO 'A SIDEWALL ISSUE.' WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS WOULD WILLINGLY CHOOSE TO REPLACE 4 TIRES AT ONCE WITH BRAND NEW TIRES AT ONLY 11,000 MILES IF THERE WAS NO SAFETY ISSUE??? OF COURSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I WASN'T WILLING TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT TO PROVE THE POINT. THE DRIVER NOTICED WHILE DRIVING,A SQUEAKING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGN DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. A FIX WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. *NM TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAL. DEALER SAID IT WAS A CREEP GROAN AND COULD NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER EXPERIENCED 4 FLAT TIRES (GOODYEAR P245/45R18 - MODEL # 96VS2EAGRS-AVSBRPTL) ALL FOUND TO HAVE DEFECTIVE SPLITS CALLED SIDEWALK CIRCUMFERENTIAL CRACKS. CONSUMER RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE REGARDING A SUN ROOF SHATTER CONDITION. *TT
THE FRONT PASSENGER STRUT FAILED HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES. AFTER 500 MILES OF DRIVING THE STRUT APPEARS TO BE OK. HOWEVER, THE CAR FAILED TO START TODAY. OVER THE PAST 3 WEEKS THE WEATHER HAS BEEN CHANGING BETWEEN SINGLE DIGITS TO UPPER 30'S. ON COLDER MORNINGS THE RELAYS INSIDE THE VEHICLE NEAR THE GLOVE BOX WOULD MAKE A CLICKING NOISE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD CRANK HARD SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING. AT THE SAME TIME THE RELAYS WOULD MAKE A CLICKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE FINALLY DIDN'T WANT TO START TODAY 1/12/05. THERE IS A TSB FOR THE POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE PROBLEM. THE GOODYEAR RSA TIRES ON MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA HAVE SPLITS ON THE SIDE WALL. GOODYEAR CLAIMS TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS TIRE SIZE, 245/45/18. NUMEROUS MAXIMA OWNERS HAVE HAD TIRES REPLACED FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT GOODYEAR IS UNCOOPERATIVE.( MAXIMA.ORG) I HAVE CALLED GOODYEAR AND THEY HAVE GIVEN ME THE RUN AROUND. IF THEY HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF A TIRE PROBLEM THEY NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY. I CHECKED WITH NISSAN AND THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF A TIRE PROBLEM. THE WINDSHIELD RUBBER ON THE TOP WAS LOOSE WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR. ALSO I NOTICED THERE WAS A SCRATCHY SOUND WHEN I TURNED ON THE WIPER RIGHT ON THE FIRST DAY I TOOK THIS CAR HOME. I CHECKED IT AND FOUND OUT THAT THE WIPER RUBBER WAS CAME LOOSE AND THE STEEL TOUCH THE WINDSHIELD CLASS. IT SCRATCH THE WINDSHIELD. THE STEVENS CREEK DEALER WAS VERY NICE AND THEY DID CHANGE THE WINDSHIELD AND TIGHTEN THE SEAL ARROUND THE WINDSHIELD. 2 DAYS AGO IT WAS RAIN PREATY HARD IN WHERE I LIVE. IN THE MORNING WHEN I DROVE THE CAR I WAS SHOCK THAT THERE WAS WATER COMING OUT FROM THE LIGHTS INTERIOR. IT WAS PREATY BAD AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE I PAID SO MUCH FOR THIS PIECE A JUNK. MANY TIMES THE ENGINE WOULD STALLED, YOU CAN'T GAS AND LOOSE THE POWER. I BROUGHT IT TO THE SAME DEALER, THEY COULDN'T REGENERATE THE PROBLEM THUS THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THE TIRE VIBRATE BETWEEN 50-80 MPH AND THEY COULDN'T FIX THAT ONE EITHER. I'VE BEEN DRIVING SO MANY CARS...AND THIS IS THE WORST ONE. THIS IS WOULD BE MY FIRST AND LAST NISSAN AND I'M PLANNING TO SALE IT ASAP. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS CAR'S RESALE VALUE WOULD BE LOT LOWER THE MISTSUBISHI. WHEN SNOW IS UNDER THE SUSPENSION THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES UNCONTROLLABLY. *AK
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. LAST WEEK WHILE VIEWING A MAXIMA FORUM, I NOTICED A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR OEM GOODYEAR RSA DEVELOPING SIDEWALL CRACKS. AFTER INSPECTING MY VEHICEL, I NOTICED TWO 2' CRACKS ON THE SIDEWALL. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO SEARS TIRE CENTER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR STRAIGHT HOME AND TO PARK IT UNTIL THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THEY FOUND MAJOR CRACKS IN THREE OF THE TIRES. THESE TIRES ONLY HAVE 20,000 MILES ON THEM AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THE CRACKS WERE THERE. *AK

2004 AND NEWER NISSAN MAXIMAS HAS A SERIOUS STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION AFTER 40MPH. NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE NO COMPLAINTS, BUT THE INTERNET IF FULL OF CUSTOMERS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR IS 6YEARS OLD BUT ONLY HAS 34,000 MILES. NEW TIRES, BRAKES,ROTORS,ALIGNMENT MULTIPLY TIRE BALANCES HAS NOT FIXED THIS PROBLEM. SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN DRIVING 40 MPH AND UP DEALER TOLD MY TIRES WEREOUT OF BALANCE GOT TIRES BALANCE STILL HAVE PROBLEM,DRIVING DOWN TO FLORIDA FROM NEW YORK WAS A NIGHTMARE.*AK
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE STRUT CONTINUES TO FAIL. THE PART HAS BEEN REPLACED TWO TIMES, HOWEVER THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER 9 OR 10 TIMES BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND THE TREMBING IN THE STEERING. THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF FAILED STRUTS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TC
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING FROM 20-30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO JERK EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WOULD INDEPENDENTLY SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR, DISENGAGE AND THEN RE-ENGAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR MOSTLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH DETERMINED THAT THE CENTRAL COMPUTER WOULD NEED TO BE READJUSTED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 125,745. UPDATED 10/29/10*JB
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A FRONT STRUT PROBLEM.. WHEN DRIVING OVER A POT HOLE THE PISTON INSIDE THE STRUT BROKE, CAUSING VIBRATION IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, IT EFFECTED THE ALIGNMENT OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO REPAIRED. THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER, AND IT COULD TAKE ALMOST 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE PARTS NEEDED BECOME AVAILABLE. *AK

10,522K MILES,- I BROKE DOWN DUE TO FAILURE OF ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH. 15,358K MILES,- I COMPLAINED ABOUT A LOUD RATTLING NOISE, LIKE A FLAT TIRE RATTLING GRINDING NOISE AND CAR FEELING SHAKY.= DEALERSHIP FOUND NO PROBLEM. CONTINUING DRIVING MY CAR THINKING EVERYTHING IS OK. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW SO I SHOULDN'T REALLY WORRY. I WAS WRONG FOR THINKING THAT. 27,500 MI. -I BROKE DOWN AGAIN GOT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP,WHERE THEY REPLACED ANOTHER ALTERNATOR. 27,732-I BROUGHT IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT THE NOISE MY CAR STILL MADE DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT.= DEALERSHIP RESECURED HEATSHIELD 3. 26'099 MI.-R/F HEADLIGHT BULB BURNT OUT. DEALER FIXED THAT ONE. 28'071 MI.-LEFT SIDE FRONT HEADLIGHT BURNT OUT. DEALER REPLACED . 29,276 MI.- I PAID $300.00 FOR MY MAJOR SERVICE THAT WAS DUE FOR MY CAR, ALSO THINKING MAYBE MY CAR WOULDN'T BE AS NOISY AS IT IS. MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA HAS HAD 3 SETS OF FRONT STRUTS REPLACED STARTING AT 8K MILES FROM NEW...THE DEALER HAS DIAGNOSED THE NEED FOR A FORTH SET OF FRONT STRUTS AT 62K MILES. *JB
SIDEWALL TIRE CRACKS - GOODYEAR EAGLE RSA 245/45/18. THESE TIRES CAME STOCK WITH MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 20K ON THESE TIRES AND THEY HAVE BEEN ROTATED 3 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2003. IN DECEMBER OF 2004 WHILE MOUNTING MY SNOW TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN POINTED OUT CRACKS IN ONE TIRE WHICH RAN LATERALLY AROUND THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE INNER TIRE WALL. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION, ONE OTHER TIRE APPREARED TO HAVE SMALLER/FINER CRACKS IN THE SAME LOCATIONS. I VISITED THE WEBISTE MAXIMA.ORG AND NOTICED THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS WHO HAVE THIS TIRE ON THEIR VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE GOODYEAR CORPORATE OFFICE AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS ISSUE. ONCE I IDENTIFIED THAT I OWNED A 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH THESE TIRES I WAS IMMEDIATELY REFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THE TIRES INSPECTED. THE REP. IN THE CORPORATE OFFICE INSTRUCTED ME TO GIVE MY LOCAL SERVICE MANAGER A REFERENCE NUMBER AND HAVE HIM CALL GOODYEAR AFTER THE INSPECTION WAS COMPLETE. THE ONLY INFORMATION REQUESTED OF ME WAS THE MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
ALL 4 OF THE STOCK GOODYEAR RSA 18" TIRES HAD CRACKING ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. WHAT I MEAN BY THE INSIDE SIDWALL IS NOT THE ACTUAL INSIDE OF THE TIRE, RATHER THE SIDEWALL THAT FACES TOWARDS THE VEHICLE. NO VISIBLE CRACKING WAS OCCURING ON THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL. I HAVE HAD THREE SETS OF STRUTS REPLACED ON MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE LATEST SET OF STRUTS ARE EXHIBITING EARLY SIGNS OF FAILURE. THE STRUTS KNOCK WHEN GOING OVER LARGER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THEY ALSO EXHIBIT MORE NOISE WHEN COLD. *AK
2004 MAXIMA WITH CRACKS ON THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. ENGINE WAS REPAIRED 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO. WENT OUT OF TOWN FOR THANKSGIVING WEEKEND WHEN THE ALTERNATOR FAILED IN BIRMINGHAM, ALA.,WHICH LEFT ME STRANDED!I'M BACK IN KENNER BUT MY MAXIMA REMAINS IN ALABAMA STILL WAITING FOR ANOTHER ALTERNATOR? PLUS I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE SKYVIEW ROOF TO BE REPLACED!!*AK
GOODYEAR TIRES EAGLE RSA 245/18 SIDE WALL HAS CRACKS IN TIRE.*AK
AFTER A 600 MILE TRIP ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE, BY LEFT REAR TIRE SIDEWALL FAILED. THE OUTER WALL SEPARATED FROM THE INTER CORD FOR ABOUT 3 INCHES. THE MANUFACTURER SAID IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. THE TIRE WAS ALMOST NEW. IT HAD 3,700 MILES ON IT, WAS PROPERLY INFLATED AND I HIT NO ROAD HAZARD. THE TIRE LOST AIR AND WE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. SOME MINOR DAMAGE. IT APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED DUE TO HEAT. MANUFACTURER: CONTINENTAL, CONTI-TOURING CONTACT P225/55R17 95V. IT WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A NISSAN 2004 MAXIMA. I REPLACED THE TIRE WITH SAME AND KEPT THE DEFECTIVE TIRE.*JB
PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION STARTED SOON AFTER I PURCHASED CAR, I WOULD SAY IN THE FIRST YEAR I HAD IT WHICH WAS IN 2003, ALTHOUGH IT IS A 2004. I TOOK IT IN MORE THAN ONCE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED CAUSING TROUBLE. IT WOULD ACT (AND STILL DOES TO THIS DAY) AS IF IT HAD/HAS BEEN KNOCKED OUT OF GEAR, RPM GOES UP AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION PICKS BACK UP. WHEN THAT HAPPENS IT WILL JERK REALLY HARD AND TAKE OFF. AS I SAID, I TOOK IT TO MY NISSAN DEALER AND EACH TIME WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS MY 5TH MAXIMA, AND HAVE TO SAY IT IS MY LAST. THE SON OF A WOMAN I USED TO WORK WITH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2004 MAXIMA, WHICH HE BOUGHT USED. HE TRADED IT FOR SOMETHING ELSE. MY CAR IS STILL GOING, ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM DOES NOT SEEM TO BE HAPPENING MORE OFTEN, BUT DOES SEEM TO BE MORE SEVERE WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN.
SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AXLE REPLACEMENT THREE TIMES AND NEW TIRES REPLACED ALL WITHIN 90 DAYS. THE TIRES ARE PROBABLY TO BIG AND WIDE FOR THIS CAR. *NM

DT: THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS NOT WORKING. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE BULBS WERE GETTING HOT, WHICH CAUSED THEM TO BLOW. OUT. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED ON NOVEMBER 1, 2004. *AK *JB
THERE IS A RUMBLING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AREA WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AT ANY SPEED. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOOSE TIE-ROD ENDS OR AXLE. THE NOISE STOPS OR IS MUFFLED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR IT. I ALSO HAVE A 1997 NISSAN PATHFINDER LE, WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TIE-ROD AND AXLE NEED REPLACING AND IT PRODUCES THE SAME NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS EXCEPT MORE SEVERE. THE PAINT ON MY MAXIMA ALSO HAS A ROUGH FINISH TO IT. *JB
STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER THREE TIMES. IT WAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE FIRST TRIP. FRONT TIRES WERE BALANCED IN THE SECOND TRIP. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THE CAR IS IN THE DEALER FOR THE THIRD TIME. IT HAS LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT. *AK

THIS VEHICLE HAS MODERATE VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER HAS DONE THE FOLLOWING TO TRY AND ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM: 1). BALANCED ALL 4 TIRES - 14OCT04. 2). ADJUSTED THE STEERING RACK, AND BALANCED 4 TIRES - 18OCT04. 3). REPLACED FRONT TIRES, AND BALANCED - 25OCT04 (AM). 4). REPLACED REAR TIRES, AND BALANCED - 25OCT04 (PM). THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER RODE WITH ME (DURING THE TEST DRIVE) FOLLOWING EACH OF THESE EVENTS, AND THE VIBRATION STILL EXISTS. ALSO, THE EXTERIOR FINISH HAS A ROUGH FEEL TO IT. IT APPEARS THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS IN AN AREA WHERE CLEAR COATING AS BEING APPLIED (TO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE), AND WAS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED. VISUALLY, ONE CANNOT TELL. TOUCHING THE VEHICLE, THE EXTERIOR SURFACES ARE NOT SMOOTH TO THE TOUCH.*AK

STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIES AT SPEEDS FROM 50-80 MPH AND ALSO SHIMMIES HARSHLY WHEN BRAKING AT LOWER SPEEDS. I HAD THIS IN FOR REPAIR TWICE SO FAR. THE FIRST TIME THEY TURNED THE ROTORS. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK & I HEARD AND FELT A BLOW AND HEARD AIR FROM THE OUTSIDE, AND THEN I LOOKED UP AND SAW MY SUN ROOF WAS SHATTERED. I WAS FREAKING OUT, AND DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY KNEW THIS SUN ROOF WAS A RECALL. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED NOR RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NISSAN. I HAD GLASS, AND MY ARM AND MY BACK AND MY 17 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER CAR SEAT HAD GLASS ALL OVER IT, AND PIECES OF GLASS IN IT'S FABRIC. I WILL NEVER PUT HER BACK IN HER CAR SEAT NOR WILL MY FAMILY, NOR I FEEL SAFE EVER AGAIN. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE!!! I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 30 MILES, WE WERE THE FIRST ONE'S TO TEST DRIVE THE CAR. DURING THE DRIVE WE NOTICED A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL BETWEEN 60-80 MILES PER HOUR. THE SALES PERSON ADVISED US THAT THE CAR SIMPLY NEEDED TO BE BALANCE SINCE IT HAS BEEN SITTING ON THE LOT FOR FOR 4MONTHS AND THE TIRES HAD A DULL SPOT. WE SCHEDULED THE SERVICE 4 DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE. AFTER THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIRES WITH BRAND NEW CONTINENTAL TIRES, ALIGNED, ROAD FORCE BALANCE THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIR SAID THAT THE CAR WAS TUNED TO SPEC AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY I AM PAYING FOR A DEFECTIVE CAR AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I AM EXPERIENCING SEVERE VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING OF MY 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA. IN MARCH OF 2004 AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS FOR ROTATIONS AND BALANCING, ALL FOUR TIRES WERE CRACKED ON THE ENTER WALL OF THE TIRES. NISSIAN SUGGESTED THAT I GO TO GOODYEAR DEALER AND HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED. GOODYEAR REPLACED THE TIRES AND FIVE MONTHS LATER, ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE CRACKED AGAIN. WE QUESTIONED NISSIAN TO SEE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE THAT WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO CRACK. NISSIAN ADVISE ANY PROBLEM CONCERING THE TIRES SHOULD BE TAKEN UP WITH GOODYEAR AND SAID IT WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. AT THIS TIME, AUGUST 17, 2004 I STILL HAVE ALL FOUR CRACKED TIRES ON MY VEHICLE AND IT IS VIBRATING EVEN MORE. GOODYEAR ADVISED THAT THE ONLY SET OF TIRES MADE FOR THIS VEHICLE IS GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-AP245/45R18. GOODYEAR ADVISED US THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS TIRE IN STOCK AND IT WILL BE ABOUT A WEEK OR SO BEFORE THEY CAN GET IT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL TIRES FOR THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL CAR. *JB
BOUGHT THE NISSAN MAXIMA ON AUGUST 10, 2004 FROM VOB NISSAN IN ROCKVILLE, MD. UNDER 100 MILES, TOOK BACK TO DEALER DUE TO UNACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF VIBRATION IN THE FRONT WHEELS FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL GENERALLY BETWEEN 40 AND 70 MPH ON SMOOTH SURFACED HIGHWAY DRIVING. INITIALLY I WAS TOLD THIS IS PROBABLY DUE TO FLAT SPOTS ON THE TIRES PER CAR SITTING IN THE LOT FOR AN EXTENDED TIME. BUT THE VIBRATION CONTINUED. WHEN CRUISING MORE PRONOUNCED. DEALER INITIALLY PERFORMED WHEEL BALANCING WHICH DIDN'T WORK. THEN THEY REPLACED THE FRONT TWO CONTINENTAL TIRES WHICH STILL DIDN'T WORK. THEY PERFORMED ??ROAD FORCE BALANCING?? CHECK. THE TIRES HAD READINGS OF CLOSE TO 40 WHERE THE ACCEPTABLE READING SHOULD BE BELOW 10. THERE WAS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE STEERING WAS VISIBLY VIBRATING. VOB ALSO NOTICED THE WARPED ROTORS IN FRONT AND RE-SURFACED THEM. DEALER REPLACED THE CONTINENTAL TIRES WITH MICHELIN MXV4. NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT IN HANDLING BUT NOT QUITE. DEALER DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE PER WRITTEN TSBS, ETC. AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE HE COULD DO, THEREFORE CALL THE MANUFACTURER. 3/22/05 I CONTACTED DARCARS OF ROCKVILLE. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS WHICH WERE UNEVENLY WORN AND ALSO RE-SURFACED THE ROTORS IN A SPECIAL MACHINE WHILE THEY WERE ATTACHED TO THE CAR AS RECOMMENDED BY NISSAN. VIBRATION PROBLEM WAS MARKEDLY BETTER AFTER THAT. HOWEVER, I STILL FEEL THE PROBLEMS WHEN PRESSING THE BREAK PEDAL LIGHTLY GOING AT SPEED. ALSO WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 60 MPH ON STRAIGHT ROADS. I AM DEBATING WHETHER TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER NOW OR WAIT FOR IT TO GET WORSE. IT HAS BEEN A CONSTANT FRUSTRATION.

SUN ROOF ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED DUE TO LEAKAGE BECAUSE IT WAS INSTALLED WRONGLY. THE STRUT SUSPENSION MALFUNCTIONED, IT MADE A CLUNKING NOISE AS IF IT WAS LOOSE. *AK
