I NOTICED MY TRANSMISSION HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS WHEN IT STARTED SLIPPING REALLY BAD. AFTER A LITTLE WHILE I DECIDED TO TRY FOR NISSAN TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 77,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN. THIS ISSUE STARTED AT ABOUT 69,000 MILES. NISSAN TOLD ME TO TAKE IT INTO A DEALERSHIP AND HAVE A DIAGNOSIS DONE ON THE VEHICLE AND SEND THE PAPERWORK IN. I DID JUST THAT. THEN A WEEK LATER I RECEIVED A CALL SAYING THAT NISSAN WILL NOT COVER MY REPAIR BECAUSE IT WAS SO FAR OUT OF WARRANTY. HOW CONVENIENT, THE VEHICLE STARTS BREAKING RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY GOES OUT. THIS WILL COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM THIS SERIOUS, OR ANY PROBLEM THIS EARLY IN THE LIFE OF ANY OF MY CARS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND NISSAN SHOULD STAND BY THEIR TERRIBLE PRODUCT AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE DAYS MY TRANSMISSION WILL LOCK INTO 5TH GEAR AND STAY THERE. IF I ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE IT WILL STILL BE IN 5TH GEAR. NISSAN IS GARBAGE AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN OR RECOMMEND NISSAN IF THIS DOES NOT GET TAKEN CARE OF. *TR
BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. SERVICED AS OUTLINED IN OWNERS MANUAL. TRANSMISSION STARTED HAVING ISSUES AROUND 70,000 MILES. I AM IN THE MILITARY AND WITH DEPLOYMENTS, WASN'T ABLE TO GET IT TO A DEALER. I HAVE CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID NUMEROUS TIMES TO TRY AND ALLEVIATE SYMPTOMS TO NO AVAIL. THE TRANSMISSION HAS A 2-4 SECOND DELAY GOING FROM P-D OR D-P, SHIFTS HARD IN MOST GEARS AND SLIPS OUT OF GEAR RANDOMLY. HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO INABILITY TO ACCELERATE. HAVE SEEN MANY, MANY POST OF OWNERS THAT LIST THE EXACT SAME DEFECTS. NISSAN HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 2007-2010 MAXIMAS WITH CVT TRANSMISSION BUT NOT THE 04-06 MODELS FOR SOME REASON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I PURCHASED MY 05 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH 60800 MILES FROM A NISSAN DEALER. AT ABOUT 70000, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SHOW SIGNS OF COSTLY REPAIRS. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS VERY HARD WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND THEN WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 2ND TO 1ST. JUST SHIFTING FROM P TO D AT TIMES THERE IS ABOUT A 3 - 4 SECOND DELAY THEN ENGAGES TO ONLY HERE AND FEEL A VERY HARD CLUNK AND JERKS REALLY HARD AGAIN. WITH ALL THE HARD SHIFTING THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE PROBABLY GOING TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY TOO. AFTER GOING ONLINE AND READING SO MANY OTHER 04 - 05 MAXIMA TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE. I AM CONVINCED THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK AND DECELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD TAKE A LONGER TIME THAN NORMAL TO ACCELERATE UP TO SPEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DURING THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY SHIFTS UP AND DOWN CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK FORWARD AT STOPLIGHTS ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, AS WELL AS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AROUND 35-45 MPH REVVING THE ENGINE THEN SLAMMING INTO GEAR CAUSING TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL, THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, IT IS A KNOWN 2004-2006 NISSAN MAXIMA PROBLEM YET NISSAN WON'T HELP, PLEASE HELP MYSELF AND OTHER NISSAN OWNERS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IN AN ACCIDENT FROM A SURGING/SLIPPING TRANSMISSION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FIRST AND SECOND GEAR FAILED; AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COMMUNICATION WIRING CIRCUIT AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL WERE DEFECTIVE AND STATED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME OVER HEATED AND WOULD IT JERK VIOLENTLY. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE DATE OR MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK ABNORMALLY WHEN DRIVING 35 MPH AND ABOVE. WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE TO TEN SECONDS BEFORE ENGAGING AND THE ENGINE WOULD EXHIBIT AN EXCESSIVE INCREASE IN RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO RECOMMENDED HAVING THE VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
CAR HAS STALLED ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. FROM A STOP, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE NOR GO INTO GEAR, THEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR WILL SLAM INTO GEAR AND SEND THE CAR LURCHING FORWARD. IT ACTUALLY FEELS AS THOUGH SOMEONE HAS HIT YOU FROM BEHIND. LUCKILY I WAS ALWAYS A DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND/OR NOT CLOSE ENOUGH TO OTHER VEHICLES. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED FROM A SITUATION SUCH AS THIS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I NEED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE MANY, MANY SIMILAR DEFECTS NOTED ON-LINE WITH 04', 05', 06' AND 07' NISSANS. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN DEALERS THAT NISSAN IS REPLACING TRANSMISSIONS ON 07' MODELS BUT NOT ON THE EARLIER VEHICLES & THAT THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THEIR VALVE BODY WHICH RESULTS IN FAILED TRANSMISSIONS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND HAVE NOT RETURNED HIS CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA (BUILD DATE OF 08/04) HAS 77000 MILES AND HAS STARTED SHOWING SIGNS OF WHAT MAY BE SERIOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 1. TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS TO CLICK INTO GEAR AFTER THE SHIFT LEVER IS PUT IN "D" 2. VERY HARD JERKY SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 1ST AND ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. 3. TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR DURING REGULAR DRIVING ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO REV FREELY THEN JERKING BACK INTO GEAR WITH A LOUD CLUNK. THEN FOLLOWED BY A BURNT OIL / ELECTRICAL TYPE SMELL THAT GETS INSIDE THE CAR AND EVIDENT OUTSIDE AFTER STOPPING. 4. ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND NISSAN DEALER REFUSE TO HELP KNOWING THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WITH THEIR MAXIMA. *KB

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH HIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL AND BELIEVED THAT A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. ALSO WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE TRANSMISSION OPERATION ON THIS VEHICLE IS SLOWLY DETERIORATING. IT STARTED THIS PAST WINTER. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 10 MPH AND AS I ACCELERATED SLIGHTLY THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE. I THOUGHT I HAD HIT AN ICE PATCH AND THE TIRES LOST GRIP. THEN IT STARTED HAPPENING MORE REGULARLY. WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND THE ENGINE WOULD RACE WITH NO INCREASE IN SPEED. THE SHIFT FROM SECOND TO THIRD ALSO BEGAN TO ACT FUNNY. THEN OCCASIONALLY A SLIGHT JOLT BEGAN TO ACCOMPANY THESE GEAR CHANGES. THE JOLTS ALSO BEGAN WHEN SHIFTING TO AND FROM REVERSE. THESE JOLTS AT THIS POINT IN TIME ARE OCCASIONAL BUT THEY CAN BE SOMEWHAT VIOLENT. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SERVICED TWICE IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS. THE MOST RECENT SERVICE ONLY HELPED FOR A DAY OR TWO.

MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA HAD 53,000 MILES WHEN IT STARTED SHOWING SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. WHEN I START THE CAR EVERYTHING IS FINE, BUT AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A BIT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS: TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS TO CLICK INTO GEAR AFTER THE SHIFT LEVER IS PLACED IN "D" AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE CAR JERKS REALLY HARD. SAME AS THE ABOVE HAPPENS WHEN GOING FROM THE REVERSE TO DRIVE AND IT TAKES AGAIN 4 TO 5 SECONDS FOR THE GEAR TO ENGAGE AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE CAR JERKS VIOLENTLY. TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR DURING REGULAR DRIVING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV FREELY THEN JERKING BACK INTO GEAR WITH A LOUD CLUNK. THAT USUALLY HAPPENS IN LOWER RPMS AND GOT ME AND MY FAMILY ALMOST KILLED A COUPLE OF TIMES BECAUSE I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. SOMETIMES I GO FOR DAYS WITH NO SYMPTOMS AT ALL AND OTHER TIMES IT MAY HAPPEN A DOZEN TIMES IN A DAY. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN WORKING ON THE CAR CONFIRMED ALL OF THE ABOVE. THEY ALSO FOUND THAT THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE BROKEN BUT THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE THESE SYMPTOMS. THEY SUGGESTED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR MOUNTS FOR $4,700 AND REFUSED TO HELP OUT WITH THE REPAIRS SINCE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I DISCOVERED THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND MODEL YEAR HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. NISSAN KNOWS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO THE FACT THAT THE THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT, BUT INSTEAD THE JEOPARDIZE OUR LIVES IN ORDER TO SAVE SOME MONEY. *TR
TRANSMISSIONS JERKS REALLY HARD THEN GRINDS WHILE DRIVING (TAKING OFF) UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY DOES IT EVERY TIME I TRY TO DRIVE IT AND IS NOW PARKED DUE TO IT POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE JERKING STARTED AT 75,000 MILES EVERY NOW AND THEN UNTIL IT BECAME CONSISTENT UP TO 127,000 MILES THEN PARKED! *TR

IN ADDITION, WHEN SHIFTING TO FIFTH GEAR, THE SHIFTER BECAME STUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WE HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT JERKS AND HAS TROUBLE GOING INTO GEAR WHILE GOING FROM 1ST TO SECOND GEAR. SHIFTING WITH THE LEVER DOES NOT HELP OR ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD BY NISSAN THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE FLUSHED. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS VERY UNSAFE. *TT

I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA TRANSMISSION JERKING REALLY BAD AROUND 20 MPH WHEN DECREASING SPEED AND AT 15 MPH WHEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 1/2 WEEKS. I JUST GOT A CALL BACK FROM THEM MONDAY STATING THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DARK AND BURNT. I HAD JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER CHANGED A MOTH PRIOR TO THAT SO KNOW THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN MY CAR TO NISSAN FOR MAINTENANCE BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO HIGH BUT HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE ON A REGULAR BASIS. I AM ASKING FOR THEIR HELP WITH THE REPAIRS BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED SO FAR. I FEEL THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL MAXIMA, AND THEY SHOULD COVER THE COST!

ALREADY TOLD BY NISSAN TO REPLACES MOUNTS AND FLUID, AND HAVE DONE SO AND EXPENSIVE FOR THAT... BUT STILL HAVING PROBLEM AND I'VE READY MANY, MANY FORUMS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND MANY HAVING TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT NISSAN IS NOT DOING ANYTHING. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT BROKEN SUBHARNESS CAUSED THE PROBLEM. WITH THE SUBHARNESS REPAIRED IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. NEXT HE CALLED AND SAID I HAD A BAD VIAS SOLENOID WAS THE PROBLEM AND THAT WOULD FIX IT. HE CALLED BACK THE NEXT DAY AND SAID "WELL YOUR CAR IS STILL STUCK IN 4TH GEAR AND I WOULD LIKE TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE. I TOLD HIM NO SINCE THE WARRANTY COMPANY HAD CALLED ME AND TELLING ME WHAT NISSAN HAD TOLD THEM AND I WAS BEING TO ANOTHER STORY. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP FROM THE NISSAN STEALERSHIP SINCE NISSAN WAS PLAYING US BOTH. THE CAR HAD BECOME A HAZARD TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF SHIFTS AND IT WAS HARD TO PREDICT WHAT IT WOULD DO NEXT. I DRIVE OVER 2500 MILES PER MONTH AND ITS CLEAR IT WAS FAILED BEFORE THE WARRANTY ENDED. THIS AMOUNT OF CORROSION SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR THAT WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND DEALER MAINTAINED. I SHOULD ADD THAT THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AT 98,000 MILES FOR A COMPLETE TUNE UP WITH THE EXPRESS REASON OF MAKING SURE EVERYTHING WAS GOOD BEFORE THE WARRANTY ENDED. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY JERK WHEN DOWNSHIFTING AND ACCELERATING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,890.
