MY CAR IS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT I PURCHASED IN NOV 2004 BRAND NEW, I AM THE ONLY DRIVER AND FOR SOME STRANGE REASON I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE GEARS CHANGING FROM 1ST TO 2ND, THEN IT STARTED JERKING AND FEELING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR MOUNTS (COST $4000+). I AM SO VERY UPSET BECAUSE THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY AND I NEED MY CAR FOR WORK. I CONTACTED NMAC AN ASKED IF THEY WOULD CONSIDER PAYING FOR THIS REPLACEMENT BECAUSE I'M SURE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA THAT JERKS REALLY HARD WHEN IT SHIFTS FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 5-15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE FAILURE ALSO RECURRED WHEN DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. AROUND 95,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. IT WOULD REV THE RPM'S AND THEN SLAM INTO GEAR. ALSO, IT WOULD TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO GO INTO DRIVE, BUT WHEN IT DID IT WOULD SLAM INTO DRIVE JERKING THE CAR AROUND. NISSAN REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AFTER REPEATED VISITS. *TR
MY 2005 MAXIMA WAS VIOLENTLY JERKING, STALLING AND HARD SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEARS AND VICE VERSA. I KEPT TELLING NISSAN THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH IT'S THEIR JOB TO TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY CAR, BUT WHILE MY CAR WAS 500 MILES SHORT OF THE 60000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRATION NISSAN KEPT TELLING ME THAT I NEEDED A POWER FLUSH, GOT THAT DONE IT DID MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR A COUPLE WEEKS THEN THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO NISSAN AT 60100 MILES AND THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATED LIST OF REPAIRS THAT NEEDED TO BE MADE FOR APPROXIMATELY $10,000 WHICH INCLUDED $4185 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. HOW IS IT THAT WITHIN A MATTER OF WEEKS AND ONLY 600 MILES THAT IT GOES FROM A POWER FLUSH SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM TO YOU NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION, NEW STARTER, ETC. FOR A MINUTE I THOUGHT I WAS BEING PUNKED! I THEN CONTACTED 1-800-NISSAN1 WHICH WAS A WASTE OF TIME THEY SUPPOSEDLY REVIEWED MY COMPLAINT AND TOLD ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THEY WON'T BE PAYING FOR ANY OF THE REPAIRS ESPECIALLY NOT THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE HERB GORDON NISSAN HAD NO KNOWLEDGE THAT I'VE EVER REPORTED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, BUT LUCKILY FOR THEM I KEEP EVERYTHING THAT PERTAINS TO MY CAR, WHEN I FAXED ALL THE DIAGNOSIS REPORTS FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS TO THE REGIONAL SPECIALIST HE TOLD ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THE DECISION HAD BEEN MADE NOT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THAT IF I WANT TO APPEAL THE DECISION I SHOULD GO THROUGH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. WTF??? IT TELLS A LOT ABOUT THE MANUFACTURE WHEN THEY ONLY HAVE A 3 YEAR OR 36000 MILE WARRANTY WITH A 5 YEAR OR 60000 MILE POWER TRAIN. MY CAR WOULD JUST START TO JERK REALLY HARD ONCE IT WAS IN 2ND GEAR AND GOING INTO 3RD GEAR. IT WOULD START OF BY OCCURRING EVERY 3RD DAY, BUT IT WORSEN SO I HAD IT TAKEN INTO A MECHANIC TO LOOK INTO IT; HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. CAR WAS RUNNING FINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, THEN IT BEGAN ONCE AGAIN WITH THE HARD JERKING AS I WAS STILL IN 1ST GEAR IT JERKED INTO 2ND GEAR WITH A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND AT THE END. THIS TIME I HAD TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC IN WHICH HE SUGGESTED TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION OIL IN WHICH HE DID. ONCE I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK IT RAN FINE FOR THE FIRST DAY, ON THE SECOND DAY THE PROBLEM HAD RETURNED AGAIN AND SEEMS TO JUST TO GET WORSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXPERIENCE ROUGH SHIFTING WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY SURGE FORWARD WHILE CHANGING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS REPLACED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

I BOUGHT THIS 2005 MAXIMA USED AND NOT LONG AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD LAG IN THE SHIFTING THEN WHEN IT SHIFTED INTO GEAR IT WOULD LURCH. (FEELS LIKE BEING KICKED BY A MULE.) IT HAPPENS ON & OFF BUT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT ESPECIALLY IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. THERE'S ALSO A FOUL SMELL NOTED WHEN THIS HAPPENS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. I READ REVIEWS THAT CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. OF COURSE EVERY TIME IT HAS BEEN CHECKED OUT IT WOULDN'T DO IT, AND NO COMPUTER CHECK SHOWED ANYTHING. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, THERE REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE TRANSMISSION NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN, AND THAT'S JUST SAD BECAUSE THAT'S ALL I HAVE EVER OWNED. *TR
THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED WITH HARD, ALMOST VIOLENT JERKING WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. NOT TOO LONG AFTER THAT STARTED, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION CEASED AND I HAD TO LIMP IT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BE TOWED. THE TRANSMISSION, TORQUE CONVERTER AND MOTOR MOUNTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE BROKEN FROM THE HARD SHIFTING. IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY SIX MONTHS. FROM THE COUNTLESS NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SEEN, NISSAN EQUIPPED THIS MODEL YEAR (AND 2004) WITH A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION YET THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS BY ISSUING A RECALL. TOTAL COST TO REPAIR WAS $3,559. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA IN WHICH THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHIFTING VERY HARD NOW FOR A FEW MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO BE SERVICED AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY FLUIDS WERE DIRTY. I HAVE REGULAR OIL CHANGES DONE AND RECENTLY PAID FOR A TRANSMISSION FLUSH. THIS CAR IS SHIFTING IN MID DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AND THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T HELPING FIX IT. I'VE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. NO ONE IS GETTING ANY ANSWERS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO OTHER MOTORIST AS WELL AS MYSELF. I WAS DRIVING TODAY AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHIFT AS I DROVE. I HAD TO GET INTO THE SLOWER LANE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO DIE ON ME! IT DIDN'T WANT GO UP IN GEAR! WITH SO MANY PEOPLE POSTING COMPLAINTS LIKE MYSELF, IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD LOOK INTO THIS MORE. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING VERY WRONG WITH THESE CARS AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! IF NOT, THIS MAY CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH. FIRST INCIDENT: CAR DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND WHEN IT DID, IT SLAMMED INTO GEAR VIOLENTLY. THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY MANIFESTED INTO THE FOLLOWING: 1.) TAKING OFF CAR JERKS REAL BAD BETWEEN 1ST & 2ND GEAR. 2.) SLOWING DOWN, CAR KICKS & JERKS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING 3.) NOW IT'S AT THE POINT WHERE THE CAR STALLS /SHUTS OFF 4.) PUTTING THE CAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE IT HESITATES ABOUT 5 TO 7 SEC. 5.) TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR UNDER 20M.P.H... CAUSING ENGINE TO REV UP TO 4RPM AND SOMETIMES 5RPM. *TR
FAILURE IN ABS, TCS, SLIP. WARNING LIGHTS SHOW AFTER THE OCCURRING SOUND OF GRINDING IN THE BRAKES. THIS IS MY SECOND MAXIMA, 2005 SE AND SL MODELS HAVE PROBLEMS. BOTH CARS HAVE DIFFERENT ODOMETER, ONE IS BELOW 100K AND ONE IS HIGHER. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A 30+K CAR. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND DOWN SHIFTING THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE TRANSMISSION AND MOTOR MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE MOTOR WAS CRACKED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY AND OVER TIME BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TRANSMISSION. UNDOCUMENTED FLAW WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR DURING REGULAR DRIVING. VERY HARD JERKY SHIFTS.
2005 NISSAN MAXIMA TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR! MY MAXIMA IS JERKING BETWEEN 1ST 2ND AND 3RD GEARS, RPMS REACHING 4 DURING SHIFTING, HARD JERKS IN DOWN SHIFTING AS WELL. A 5 SEC PAUSE WHEN PUTTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE! A GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING. THIS OCCURS ON A DAILY BASES! VERY UNHAPPY WITH NISSAN, THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR THIS FAULTY TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA AND FROM DAY 1 I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION JERKING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED, 2 TIMES SINCE JULY 2009. OF COURSE THE JERKINESS HAS NEVER DUPLICATED ITSELF. AUG OF 2010, I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR MOUNTS SNAPPED AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AND OF COURSE I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE JERKINESS IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TECH COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY, I STILL HAVE THE JERKINESS WHICH IS BAD AND AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT I THINK THE VEHICLE WON'T WORK ANYMORE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT JUST CAME ON AND I NOTICE THAT THE ENGINE IS RIDING HARD. JUST LIKE IT DID WHEN I FOUND ABOUT THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND NOW THE JERKINESS IN THE TRAINING IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME. IT JERKS INTO GEAR REALLY HARD TO THE POINT WHERE YOU MIGHT THINK THE CAR IS GOING TO SHUT OFF. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT NISSAN. I DID FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS BECAUSE IT IS NOT FAIR. THERE IS A PROBLEM. A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. NISSAN HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *TR

THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT COULD NOT AFFORD THE COST OF THE REPAIRS SO THE MECHANIC TOLD THE CONTACT THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION DIES. EVENTUALLY THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION MAKING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION AND THE DEALER STATED THEIR IS NO RECALL SO THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD WHEN ATTEMPTING TO UP SHIFT. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE CONTACT WOULD DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO MOVE AND WOULD JERK VIOLENTLY WHEN THE CONTACT WOULD LIFT HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE BY FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE HARD BECAUSE IT WOULD JERK SO HARD. THEN MY CAR STARTED SHIFTING HARD BETWEEN GEARS WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS SUCH A VIOLENT SHIFT THAT IF FELT LIKE SOMEONE HAD HIT MY CAR. IT SHIFTED SO HARD YESTERDAY THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I TOOK THE CAR IMMEDIATELY TO MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I NEED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION ($3000). I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF 2004,05,06 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN AND NO RECALLS! NISSAN REFUSED TO ACT LIKE THIS WAS A PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP! 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA TRANSMISSION FAILURE. APPARENTLY LOOKING AT WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY TELL ME I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
