CAR HAS 41K MILES. WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR A SHIMMY AND VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING OVER 55 MPH. 3 TIMES BALANCED AND ALIGNED TIRES. 4TH TIME WAS TOLD ALL 4 RIMS ARE BENT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. UNABLE TO GET ACCURATE INFORMATION ON WARRANTY FROM DEALER NOR NISSAN. *TR
NOTICED CIRCULAR TEARING OF ALL FOUR TIRES BEGINNING AT 16,000 MILES. LATER, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE FRONT LEFT TIRE BLEW AND TORE APART. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS INJURED AND I FOUND A SMALL EDGE OF THE FREEWAY TO CHANGE THE TIRE, WHICH WAS VERY NERVE RACKING WHEN CHANGING THE TIRE. THIS OCCURRED AT 18,000 MILES, 18 MONTHS OF OWNING THE CAR. THIS WAS A WEEK AFTER I TOLD NISSAN TO LOOK AT MY TIRES AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THEM, DESPITE THE CIRCULAR BREAKAGE BEGINNING TO OCCUR. I TOLD THEM TO CHECK FOR LEAKS AS WELL. THEY SAID NO LEAKS. THEY WERE GOODYEAR TIRES 245/45/18 EAGLE RSA TIRES. I HAD TO BUY FOUR NEW TIRES DUE TO SAFETY REASONS AT $575. *TR
AFTER 24,000 MILES THE GOODYEAR EAGLE TIRES ON MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA DEVELOPED A BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL IN EXACTLY THE SAME SPOT ON BOTH TIRES. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE GOODYEAR DEALER FOR WARRANTY REPAIR THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT COVERED AND THEY SAID THE TIRES HAD AN "IMPACT BREAK." THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON IN THIS TIRE AND THEY SEE IT ALL THE TIME. *TR
THE CAR WAS EQUIPPED WITH A HEATED STEERING WHEEL. ATHIS WINTER I USED IT ALMOST DAILY. I BEGAN TO NOTICE IN MARCH THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BECOMING DISCOLORED. THE AREAS WHERE THE HEATING MECHANISM WERE NOW BLACK AND GREEN. *AK
CHROME RAILS THAT RUN FROM FRONT OF WINDSHIEL TO REAR HAVE FADED AND ARE PEELING. EVERY MAXIMA I HAVE SEEN IS THE SAME. IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS. GREAT CAR EXCEPT FORTHIS.
MY 2005 MAXIMA HAS 47,000 MILES. RECENTLY, THE CAR CHOKES WHILE STOPPING AS THE CAR IS DOWN SHIFTING BACK INTO 1ST GEAR BEFORE STOPPING. SOMETIME WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR WILL JUMP INTO THE NEXT GEAR. THIS VEHICLE IS AUTOMATIC TRASMISSION. *JB
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2005 MAXIMA SL IN OCTOBER OF 2004. WE HAVE HAD THE FRONT STRUTS REPLACED 5 TIMES. THIS IS AN INCONVENIENCE FOR US. WHEN WE ASKED THE DEALER WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING, THEY STATED IT'S ONLY IN THE NEW YORK, TRI-STATE AREA. THE SOUTH AND WEST COAST DOES NOT ENCOUNTER THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO US. THEY CLAIMS THAT THE NEW YORK CITY STREETS IS THE REASON FOR THE ISSUE. WE NEED HELP!!!!!!!!! *JB
MY 2005 MAXIMA HAS A TRAY ON THE DASH DESIGNED TO HOLD CHANGE SUNGLASSES CELL PHONE ETC.--I ALWAYS PUT CHANGE IN THE TRAY BUT APPARENTLY THERE IS A SPACE/SLIT WHERE THIS CHANGE CAN SLIP DOWN. THE CHANGE DID SLIP DOWN INTO ONE OF THE CIRCUIT PANELS AND BURNED UP MY CIRCUIT PANEL CAUSING MY MAJOR ELECTRICAL DAMAGE TO MY CAR. THIS OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING AND COULD HAVE EASILY BURNED MY CAR UP WITH ME AND MY CHILD IN THE CAR. NISSAN SAID SINCE IT WAS DUE CHANGE IT WAS MY FAULT AND WOULD NOT COVER THE EXPENSES. MY QUESTION TO THEM WAS IF THIS TRAY WAS DESIGNED FOR CHANGE ETC. AND THERE WAS NO WARNING STATING TO NOT PUT CHANGE THERE THEN I FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULD COVER IT AS THIS IS FAULTY DESIGN AND A FIRE HAZARD. THEY SAID UNTIL THEY GET OTHER COMPLAINTS THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAYING FOR THIS. IRONIC THAT WHEN IT CAME BACK FROM A NISSAN REPAIR SHOP THIS AREA THAT WAS OPEN IS NOW SEALED.*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY AT 40 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS ROAD HAZARDS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE REMAINING THREE TIRES WERE CRACKED ALONG THE INSIDE WALL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. THE TIRES WERE WAHL, SIZE 245/35R20.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, ONE OF THE GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A TIRES FLATTENED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS TREAD SEPARATION. THE CONTACT HAS SINCE CHANGED THE VEHICLES TIRES THREE TIMES SINCE THE FIRST FAILURE. THE # OF CYLINDERS AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 32,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,436.
OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO NISSAN ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PUT TOGETHER CORRECTLY IN THE FACTORY AND HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN RE-WELDED TWO SEPARATE TIMES IN TWO SEPARATE LOCATIONS ON THE VEHICLE. NISSAN SENT A REPRESENTATIVE OUT ON OUR REQUEST TO ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE ISSUE WHEN THE DEALER HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS TWO BUTTON WELDS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CAR TO ALLEVIATE THE FRAME FROM RUBBING/INSTABILITY. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY BACK IN THE SHOP (2 WEEKS LATER) FOR ADDITIONAL CONCERNS THAT WERE TO BE ADDRESSED AT THE TIME OF OUR LAST SERVICE (MARCH 30, 2007), BUT WERE NOT. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT CONCERNS ABOUT THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE ROTORS, MUFFLER AND SUSPENSION, IN ADDITION TO THE REAR SUBFRAME RECALL AND LATCH SYSTEM RECALL. CLEARLY A CAR WITH MULTIPLE ISSUES THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. *JB
I LOCKED THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE AND THE CAR JUST KEPT ARMING ITSELF EVERY 5 MINUTES. I WAS ALSO DRIVING THE CAR AND IT JUST LOCK BY ITSELF. I FIND THIS TO BE VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE REMOTE IS NOT BEING USED AND THE CAR IS JUST ARMING ITSELF EVERY 5 MINUTES. ALSO THE CAR IS MAKING NOISE AND THE CAR IS NOT EVEN TWO YEARS YET. IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND I AM QUITE FED UP. *JB
CONSUMER GOODYEAR TIRES HAD A CRACK ALONG THE INSIDE AREA. *TS ***NAR*** THE CONSUMER FELT VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED CRACK ON THE INSIDE OF ALL FOUR TIRES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT A PRORATED RATE. *NM
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2005 MAXIMA FRONT END SHAKING WHEN I START BRAKING. I HAVE HAD MY TIRES ROTATED BALANCED AND RE-ALIGNED BUT AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. *JB
THE PROJECTOR HEADLAMPS ON MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA HAVE FAILED TO PERFORM AS DESIGNED AND HAVE BEEN REPLACED ONCE, AND IS CURRENTLY WORKING IN THE SHOP FOR REPEAT OF INITIAL FAILURE. THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED INITIALLY AS A WHOLE AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE PROJECTOR LAMPS UTILIZE A SHUTTER TO CHANGE FROM HIGH TO LOW BEAM. AFTER THE LAMP HAS OPERATED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME (30 MIN-1 HOUR) THE SHUTTER DOES NOT MOVE FULLY, LEAVING THE LAMPS IN A PARTIAL OR FULL HIGH BEAM MODE, EVEN WHEN LOW BEAM IS CALLED FOR BY THE CONTROL SWITCH. THIS IS A HAZARD TO ONCOMING DRIVERS, AND I GET FLASHED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC FREQUENTLY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V512000 (SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:POWER ADJUST). SINCE THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE HAS BEGUN TO FAIL AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY REPLACED TWO WIRES UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR OVER THIRTY DAYS. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE MILEAGE INCREASED BY MORE THAN 1,300 MILES AND THE CARPET WAS DYED A DIFFERENT COLOR. SHE ALSO NOTICED HOLES IN THE SUNROOF SLIDER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE DEALER ORDERED A REPLACEMENT WITHOUT HER KNOWING. THE DEALER STATED THAT SINCE SHE WAS DISSATISFIED WITH THE REPAIRS, THEY WOULD HAVE THE MANUFACTURER REPLACE THE SUNROOF LINER. THE DEALER ALSO ORDERED A PART FOR THE STEERING COLUMN AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE BATTERY WOULD NOT HOLD A CHARGE AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST HER IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20MPH THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTERWARDS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE ENGINE WAS DIFFICULT TO START AFTER SITTING FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. ALTHOUGH THE CODE INDICATED THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR FAILED, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOT ALERTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A P245-45R18 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS MAKING AN UNFAMILIAR NOISE. SHE BELIEVED THAT THERE MAY BE A BUBBLE IN THE TIRE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT BOTH REAR TIRES HAD SLITS IN THEM AND WOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 40,000. THE CONSUMER STATED PERFORMED ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE FOR VEHICLE AND COMPLAINED @ 37,000 ABOUT NOISE IN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND THE DEALER INFORMED CUSTOMER TIRES WOULD WEAR IN. THE CONSUMER STATED FEELS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR 4 NEW TIRES AT $300 A PIECE. THE CONSUMER STATED GOODYEAR PRORATED THE REAR TIRES BUT CONSUMER FEELS THAT IS NOT SUFFICIENT. UPDATED 09/05/07 *TR

I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA ON FEB. 12 2005. SINCE MY PURCHASE I HAVE HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SOON AFTER THE PURCHASE. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS THAT THE THROTTLE WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW ON 01/16/06 THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS THROWN A ROD. MY CAR IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET, BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT. I WILL BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 2-3 WEEKS. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL NISSAN OWNER FOR OVER 13 YRS. I HAVE PURCHASED NOTHING BUT NISSAN VEHICLES SINCE MOVING TO TEXAS. I AM SO UPSET THAT I CAN'T EVEN PUT IT TO WORDS, I WILL NEVER,EVER, BUY ANOTHER NISSAN PRODUCT DUE TO ALL THE HARD ACHES I HAVE GONE THROUGH WITH THE PURCHASE OF MY NEW VEHICLE. I CAN'T EVEN ENJOY THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT SPENDS HALF THE TIME IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WANT TO GET OUT FROM UNDER MY LEASE, UNSURE IF I CAN EVEN DO THAT. I INADVERTENTLY UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, ALSO PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHAT IS APPARENTLY NORMAL FOR THE 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA, IS THE BRAKE PEDAL CAN MOVE BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS HIGHLIGHTED TWO PROBLEMS: 1. THE BAKE PEDAL TRAVEL IS TO MUCH, AND 2. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS IS INSUFFICIENT. THE RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM IS TO APPLY MORE BRAKE PRESSURE THEREBY ALSO ACCELERATING THE CAR. I WAS PARKING AND ENDED UP UPON THE MEDIAN BETWEEN LANES OF PARKING AND DAMAGED MY BUMPER AND SKIRT UNDER THE FRONT END. *NM
2005 NISSAN MAXIMA HEADLIGHTS STOLEN. WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY POPULAR HOT MARKET ITEM THAT MANY THIEVES ARE STEALING. FACTORY ALARM ONLY GOES OFF IF SOMEONE TRIES TO DRIVE AWAY WITH THE CAR BUT IF THE LIGHTS ARE TAMPERED WITH OR STOLEN THEY DO NOT GO OFF. IF NISSAN KNEW THESE LIGHTS ARE SO POPULAR AMONG THIEVES THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN ME THE OPTION TO ADD A SPECIAL ALARM THAT WOULD GO OFF WHEN SOMEONE TRIES TO STEAL THESE POPULAR LIGHTS. *JB
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR DISPLAYED THAT IT WAS OFF WHEN A PASSENGER WAS OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA IN JULY 05. FROM DAY ONE, WE NOTICED AN ENGINE SURGE WHEN DOWN-SHIFTING GEARS, START FROM A STOP AND WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE. WE ATTRIBUTED THIS TO BEING A SPORTIER CAR THAN WE WERE USED TO. *JB HOWEVER, ON NOV. 9, AS MY WIFE WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING DECK, THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. SPECIFICALLY, SHE HAD JUST LEVELED-OFF FROM THE UP-RAMP OF THE DECK, MADE A LEFT-TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE, PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND - NOTHING. THE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS. BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NATURALLY SLOWING DOWN FROM THE UP-RAMP, THE DOWN-SHIFTING OF GEARS CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL, THEN SURGE, JUST AS IT HAS DONE BEFORE. B/C THE BRAKE PEDAL DIDN'T DEPRESS, THE BRAKES DIDN'T ENGAGE, THUS THE CAR ROLLED INTO THE BOUNDARY WALL OF THE PARKING DECK. WHEN WE NOTIFIED THE DEALER, THEY SAID THAT IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AND TO CALL NISSAN. I CALLED 1-800-NISSAN-1, AND SPOKE WITH AN ATTENDANT ON 11/10. A TECH VISIT WAS SCHEDULE FOR 12/5. ON 12/12, NISSAN CALLED TO REPORT THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND A DEFECT. WHEN I INQUIRED AS TO THE SPECIFICS OF THE "INVESTIGATION," I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE "PROFESSIONALS, AND CHECKED WHATEVER THEY THOUGHT WAS NECESSARY." WHEN I PRESSURED FOR SPECIFICS, THEY COULDN'T PROVIDE ANY. THIS PURCHASE WAS INTENDED TO PROVIDE MY WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD A SAFE AND DEPENDABLE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION, BUT IF THE BRAKES DON'T WORK AND NO ONE CAN FIND A PROBLEM, HOW SAFE AND DEPENDABLE IS IT? B/C WE COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE ACCIDENT AND MECHANICAL ISSUES, WE WERE WITHOUT THE USE OF THE CAR FOR 34 CALENDAR DAYS, AND FOR 29 BUSINESS DAYS. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS $2000+. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE THAT A $30K CAR DEVELOPS AN ENGINE/TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FROM PURCHASE (ASSUMING IT IS A PROBLEM) AND THEN DEVELOPS A BRAKE MALFUNCTION WITHIN THE FIRST 4 MONTHS OF PURCHASE. COMPLETELY ASININE. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY. BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT STRUTS WERE REPLACED AT 8500 MILES. THESE PARTS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AS WELL. THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION SINCE THE REPLACEMENT OF THESE PARTS. *AK UPDATED 12/7/2005. *NM
VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL & SEATS - HAVE HAD BACK TO DEALER FOUR TIMES IN THREE WEEKS - THEY'VE REPLACED WHEEL (OUT OF ROUND/BENT), ROTORS/BRAKES AND ARE NOW INVESTIGATING TIRES - VIBRATION OCCURS IN & OUT AT VARIOUS SPEEDS-LOOKING AT LEMON LAW. *NM
CONTINUOUS PROBLEM. SUSPENSION NOT PROPERLY FUNCTIONAL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE. FEELS LIKE LOSS OF CONTROL MAY OCCUR. LOUD NOISE ON RIGHT SIDE WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE ABOVE 75 DEGREES. REPEATED TRIPS FOR INSPECTION AT DEALER. ON ONE OCCASION THE REAR SHOCKS WERE REPLACED. *TR

I WENT TO DO THE MONTHLY CHECK OF TIRE AIR PRESSURE AND FOUND THAT THE LABEL ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR POST DOES NOT LIST THE RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE. ALL FOUR TIRES ARE AT 40 PSI COLD AND I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT IS DANGEROUS.
I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED WITH OTHER CONSUMERS. MY CARE JERKS. I HAVE REPLACED THE AXLES, AIR FLOW METER, AC LINE, IGNITION COIL, SPARK PLUGS, ALTERNATOR, ETC. CURRENTLY, THE TIMING CHANGE AND TENSIONER NEEDS REPAIRING, THE AXLES AGAIN FROM THE JERKING. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WHO CAN NOT AFFORD ALL OF THESE REPAIRS. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. DT: CONSUMER BOUGHT NEW NISSAN MAXIMA 2005 AND HAD DRIVEN VEHICLE FOR A FEW DAYS WHEN WHILE PARKED AT WORK, A CO-WORKER NOTED THERE WAS "BLACK STUFF" WHICH WAS SUSPECTED TO BE BRAKE FLUID. CONCERNED, CALLED DEALERSHIP AND DEALER SAID NOT TO DRIVE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE DISTANCE BUT PLEASE GO TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP THERE WAS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. A LOCAL DEALER ACCEPTED VEHICLE AND WAS KEPT FOR 4 DAYS AND DETERMINED IT NEEDED A NEW AXLE AND ALSO REPLACED A NEW BRAKE BOOT AS WELL. TOLD DEALERSHIP FROM WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND THEY SAID DO NOT LET THAT DEALERSHIP MAKE THOSE REPAIRS-THEY WOULD COME AND TOW VEHICLE BACK. DEALER TOWED VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS HAD VEHICLE FOR OVER 1 WEEK AND NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THEY CLAIM REPAIR IS IN PROCESS. DEALER HAS NOT CONFIRMED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS HOWEVER THE SECONDARY DEALERSHIP INSISTS IT WAS A BROKEN AXLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. *NOTE* CONSUMER DISCOVERED SHE DID NOT HAVE VIN AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE UPON FILING A COMPLAINT. *NM
THE SECOND AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK HAS GONE OUT ON MY VEHICLE. NOW THE PASSENGER DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY. SINCE THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOOR IS FROM THE INSIDE (NO DOOR LOCK FOR KEY ON OUTSIDE) THIS POTENTIALLY CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH MY FAMILY AND THE NEED TO GET SMALL CHILDREN IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE THAT ARE REQUIRED TO RIDE IN THE BACK WITH CHILD SEATS BY STATE LAW. *TR

BY MARCH OF 2005, THE STRUT ASSEMBLIES (BOTH) HAD BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ADDITIONAL TIME FOR THE SAME COMPLAINT OF NOISE IN THE STRUT ASSEMBLY BUT WAS REPAIRED TO NO AVAIL. MAY 25, 2005: NOISE IN THE FRONT END AGAIN. UPON INSPECTION FROM THE AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, IT WAS SAID THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM A FAULTY RACK AND PINION. PRIOR TO THIS (UPON CONCLUSION THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME), I ASKED NISSAN TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. THEY REFUSED. THIS VEHICLE'S FRONT END IS NOT REPAIRABLE AND HAZARDOUS. THE CAR, AT THIS TIME, HAS 17K MILES AND NEEDS TO BE EITHER REPLACED OR BOUGHT BACK.
WHEN PUTTING THE CAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE IT HESITATES AND THEN JERKS INTO GEAR. HARD SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD. WHEN DOWNSHIFTING THIS ALSO HAPPENS IN THE SAME GEARS. BOUGHT NISSAN MAXIMA 2005 IN MARCH OF 2005. STARTED WITH SHAKING STEERING WHEEL FROM 55 MPH AND ABOVE. TOOK IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO PREMIUM NISSAN, NEW ROCHELLE. REPLACED BRAKES, ROTORS, STRUTS, RIMS AND TYRES. ALSO BODY REPAIRS LIKE SWAYING REAR FENDER AND VIBRATING HEAT SHIELD IN ENGINE. STILL HAVE SHAKING PROBLEMS, CANNOT ROTATE TYRES AND SPEED BALANCED OVER 7 TIMES AND NO SOLUTION. LOST BBB ARBITRATION AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS HEARING. ON 3/7/07 TOOK FOR SERVICE AND NISSAN DID RECALLS TO REAR SUSPENSION ABS AND CHILD SEAT ANCHORS. THEY ROTATED THE TYRES AND NOW THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT ON ROUGH ROADS (TOTAL NIGHTMARE).

I HAVE A 2008 MAXIMA SE WHICH I PURCHASED LAST YEAR. THE CAR CONTINUES TO JERK (HARD) WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD, AND IT ALSO HAPPENS ON THE DOWNSHIFT FROM 2ND TO 1ST. THE STEERING WHEEL MOVES WHEN THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE CONTROL IS PRESSED. THIS OCCURS ON A RANDOM BASIS WHEN ONE INDIVIDUAL REMOTE CONTROL IS USED AND 100% OF THE TIME WHEN GOING BETWEEN ONE REMOTE TO THE OTHER. ON A RANDOM BASIS, DRIVER SEAT DOES NOT MOVE BACK WHEN EXITING VEHICLE AND THAT AREA OF THE EXIT FEATURE IS ENABLED. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR THE MAXIMA EQUIPPED WITH THE MEMORY SEAT OPTION WHEN THE ENTRY/EXIT FEATURE IS ENABLED. EXTERIOR MIRRORS MOVE ON THEIR OWN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. I PURCHASED A NISSAN MAXIMA SL AT THE START OF NOVEMBER 2004. A HARNESS INSIDE THE ENGINE CONTAINING A SENSOR TO DETECT ENGINE KNOCKS WAS DAMAGED BY A RODENT. THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO MISFIRE WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO BUCK, STOP SHIFTING, CHANGE SPEED OF THE CAR ON IT'S OWN,LOSE ACCELERATION, NOT SHIFT, SHIFT SUDDENLY AND PUT THE DRIVER IN A SITUATION WHERE IF THEY DID NOT COMPENSATE THEY COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WORSENED OVER THE NEXT THREE THOUSAND MILES OF DRIVING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER IGNORED THE PROBLEM AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT UNTIL I SAID I WOULD PAY FOR THEM TO PLUG THE ENGINE INTO A DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. AT THIS POINT THEY FOUND A MISFIRE CODE, THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED MY THE MASTER MECHANIC AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE HARNESS AT MY EXPENSE! THE MANUFACTURE REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A DANGEROUS DEFECT. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THEIR COMPUTER LOGIC AND/OR DESIGN. A SENSOR MALFUNCTION SHOULD NOT CAUSE AN ENGINE MISFIRE AND TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. NOTE THE DATE OF NOVEMBER 3 2004 INDICATES THAT THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT CONTINUED UNTIL THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER MANY TIMES AND THEY ARE NOT RETURNING MY CALLS. THE MASTER MECHANIC SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES BEFORE WHICH TELLS ME THAT THIS IS PERHAPS A LONG STANDING PROBLEM THAT NISSAN CHOOSES TO IGNORE.
