THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA 3.5 SE IS JERKING AND SLIPPING/SPINNING SEVERELY. IT STARTED AROUND 90,000 MILES. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING OR SLOWING DOWN AND WHEN TAKING OFF. IT'S SO BAD WHEN TAKING OFF, YOU CAN SEE THE CAR JERK. WHEN TAKING OFF, THE CAR HESITATES UNTIL JERKING INTO LOW GEAR.
2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SE, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES SHIFTS VIOLENTLY, WHEN IN REVERSE & JUMPS FROM 2 TO 3 GEAR, ALMOST LIKE BEING REAR ENDED, ALSO REVS UP TO 5 OR 6 RPM ON THE TACT WITHOUT FOOT ON PEDAL, AND LOOSES POWER. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER WHO TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $4000.00 AND BECAUSE OF THE SHIFTING THE MOTOR MOUNTS ALSO NEED REPLACED. ONE TIME THE CAR WILL DRIVE FINE THEN THE NEXT ALL THE PROBLEMS ARE BACK. I HAVE LOOKED ON SEVERAL NISSAN WEB SITES FOR COMPLAINTS ON THIS CAR, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, WHY NISSAN DOES NOT LOOK INTO A RECALL ON THIS CAR IS UNBELIEVABLE. THERE IS NO WAY SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE CAN BE HAVING THE VERY SAME PROBLEM AND IT NOT BEING BECAUSE OF THE CAR. THIS DEFECT IN THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. LOOK FOR YOURSELF AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE DEMANDING NISSAN RECALL THE 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. *TR
-ACCELERATING CAR JERKS BAD BETWEEN 1ST & 2ND GEAR. -SLOWING DOWN, CAR KICKS & JERKS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING -PUTTING THE CAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE IT HESITATES A FEW SECONDS -TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR CAUSING THE RPM TO JUMP UP TO 3-5K SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL NISSAN MAXIMA. I VISIT TO THE DEALER RESULTED IN BEING TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. *TR
HEAVY SHIFTING, NOT SHIFTING ON POINT, SLIPPING TRANSMISSION, BANG WHEN SHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING. *JS
MY CAR STARTING JERKING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. I MADE AN APPT WITH MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR A FEW DAYS LATER AND WITHIN THOSE FEW DAYS IT PROGRESSED TO SEVERE BUCKING BETWEEN GEARS AND I NO LONGER FELT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, LUCKILY THE DEALER ISN'T FAR FROM MY HOUSE. I WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND 3 ENGINE MOUNTS WERE CRACKED. TOTAL COST $5200. I WASN'T ABLE TO COME UP WITH THAT MUCH MONEY SO THEY FIXED THE ENGINE MOUNTS AND FLUSHED AND FILLED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO GIVE ME A LITTLE MORE TIME. IT STILL JERKS BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED VERY SOON, BUT THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, $4,000!! IT IS ALSO A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE PAYING FOR!! THE FORUMS ARE FULL OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT!! THE TECHNICIAN AT MY LOCAL DEALER EVEN MADE A COMMENT THAT THIS IS A "KNOWN PROBLEM". IT'S TIME TO MAKE NISSAN PAY FOR THE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS THAT ARE CAUSING UNSAFE CARS TO BE ON THE ROAD. I'M STILL WORRIED SOMEONE IS GOING TO RE-END ME BECAUSE I HAVE TO START OFF SO SLOW TO REDUCE THE JERKING BETWEEN GEARS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE ALSO JERKED AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TRANSMISSION DEFECTS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, HE FELT SOME MINOR JERKING WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. RECENTLY, THE JERKING BECAME STRONGER AND MORE FREQUENT, EVEN HAPPENING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. UPON HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER, WHERE THE SAME PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED, ALONG WITH SOME OTHER ISSUES THAT WERE PROBABLY RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION DEFECT SUCH AS A TIMING PROBLEM.
CAR BEGAN JUMPING WHEN IT CHANGED GEARS AT LOW SPEEDS, HAD TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REBUILT
THE CAR JERKS INTO GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A LIGHT. AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT 3000 RPM, THE CAR BUCKS AND JERKS INTO GEAR. THE ENGINE REVS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION CATCHES GEARS. WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM, AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, WHEN CHANGING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE OR PARK, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND JERKS VERY HARD INTO GEAR. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION JERKS REALLY BADLY WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. HAPPENS SPONTANEOUSLY, TYPICALLY AROUND 35-45 MPH. WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE REPAIR SHOP, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO I JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT FOR NOW. SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE CAR IS CLOSE TO NEEDING AN OIL CHANGE. I NOTICED A TON OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING, AND THINK IT IS OBSCENE THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED OR AN INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED AT THE MINIMUM. *TR
THE VALVE BODY OR VALVE ASSEMBLY ON THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING CAUSING HARD SHIFT AND HIGH REVS WHILE SHIFTING. WHICH IS VERY HARD AND COULD CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. IT IS WELL KNOWN BY NISSAN AND THEY ARE NO HELP AT FIXING THIS PROBLEM. NEW VALVE BODY IS AROUND $1100 WITHOUT LABOR. IF WAITED TO LONG TO REPLACE, NEW TRANSMISSION COULD COST $3400. *TR
NOT LONG AGO MY NISSAN HAS STARTED TO HAVE SHIFTING ISSUES , WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE IT TAKE A FEW SECONDS THEN IT JERKS INTO GEAR WHICH IS WEARING OUT THE MOTOR MOUNTS . I HAVE TRIED CHANGING CAMSHAFT SENSORS WHICH HAS HELPED SOME OTHER PEOPLE BUT DIDN'T NOT FIX MY PROBLEM. NOW THE CAR TAKES OFF WHILE IM DRIVING ! WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A LIGHT THE RPMS WILL JUMP TO 6K AND THE CAR WILL GRAB A GEAR AND TAKE OFF WHICH HAS BEEN VARY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE LATELY BE CAUSE I AM AFRAID IT WILL RAM ME INTO A CAR INFRONT OF ME . I REALLY LIKE MY CAR INSIDE AND OUT BUT THIS SHIFTING PROBLEM IS KILLING ME AND I DON'T HAVE $4K TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALLED , I HAVE NO OTHER CARS SO I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT TO WHERE I NEED TO GO. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR FOR MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS SO I AM TRAPPED MAKING PAYMENTS ON IT EVEN IF I CANT DRIVE IT .I HAVE READ ON MANY DIFFERENT FORUMS ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND HAVEN'T FOUND A WAY TO FIX IT , WITH AS MANY REVIEWS OF PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MAXIMA THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE . *TR
THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND JERKS THE CAR WHEN UP AND DOWNSHIFTING BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THE CAR HAS HAD STRONG JERKS WHEN GOING FROM PARK OR REVERSE TO DRIVE AS WELL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS OVER THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA IN AUGUST 8, 2013 USED WITH APPROX. 63K MILES WITH NO WARRANTY. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER, I NOTICED MY CLUTCH PEDAL WOULD GET STUCK TO THE FLOOR. DURING THIS TIME I WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS AT ALL, I HAD TO PULL OVER & SIT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES TO GET THE CAR MOVING AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER & THEY "BLED THE LINE". THEY SAID THE FLUID IN THE CLUTCH WOULD GET HOT & TURN INTO "VAPOR" WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO GET STUCK & ADVISED I USE DOT4 FLUID IN THE FUTURE. 5 MONTHS LATER (IN THE WINTER) THE CLUTCH PEDAL AGAIN STARTED GETTING STUCK TO THE FLOOR, I WAS ABLE TO "POP" IT BACK WITH MY FOOT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME UNTIL I GOT TO MY DESTINATION. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER, PAID $150 TO "DIAGNOSE" ONLY FOR SOMEONE TO TELL ME THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM & THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE APART MY TRANSMISSION (ANOTHER $650) TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM FURTHER. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE. I HAD A MECHANIC FRIEND LOOK AT IT WHO TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH MASTER & SLAVE CYLINDER, THEREFORE, I DID. SOLVED THE ISSUE, UNTIL NOW (5 MONTHS LATER). MY CLUTCH HAS BEEN GETTING STUCK TO THE FLOOR & LOOSING PRESSURE OCCASIONALLY THE PAST MONTH, FINALLY YESTERDAY, IT HAS BECOME UN-DRIVABLE. I CANNOT PULL IT BACK UP ENOUGH TO SHIFT IT INTO GEAR. I WAS TOLD MY A MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AGAIN & HOPEFULLY THAT SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DRIVE EVERYDAY IN THIS CAR WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN & HAVE HAD NEAR MISSES AT TIMES BECAUSE I CANNOT GET THE CAR INTO GEAR. I READ ONLINE FORUMS REGARDING THE NISSAN ALTIMA'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM SURE AFTER I REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AGAIN I WILL HAVE THIS ISSUE WITHIN MONTHS. I HAVE THREE MORE YEARS OF PAYING ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK UNTIL I CAN GET RID OF IT! AFTER PURCHASING CAR FROM DEALER WITH 66300 MILES I DROVE IT FOR ROUGHLY A WEEK WHEN I STARTED TO NOTICE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND JERKING WHILE GOING FROM GEAR TO GEAR. THE CAR STARTED TO DRIVE LIKE A MANUAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AUTOMATIC. THEN SHIFTING TO DRIVE FROM REVERSE THE CAR WOULD KICK AND JERK VERY BADLY AND A VERY HEAVY JERK WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT GOES INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AFTER LESS THAN 1000 MILES DRIVEN AFTER BEING PURCHASED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BROKEN AND 2 OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE ALSO BROKEN WHICH WAS DETERMINED TO BE A RESULT FROM THE BAD TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE 2 ENGINE MOUNTS. AT 66K MILES THE TRANSMISSION ON THE CAR SHOULD NOT GIVE OUT AND AFTER READING ON VARIOUS SITES THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUTTING OUT A UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT CONTAINS A BAD TRANSMISSION. *JS
I HAVE AN 2005 MAXIMA 3.5L SL. IT HAS BEEN JERKING GOING INTO SECOND GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING AND ALSO DURING DECELERATION. ONLY WHEN I SLOW DOWN UNDER 20MPH, THEN PRESS THE GAS @ ABOUT 17MPH APPX. UPON DRIVING 30-40 MINS, THE SHIFTING FROM D TO R AND R TO D HAS A DELAY AND BIG BANG/THUMP ON THE VEHICLE, AGAIN THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS NORMAL. DOWNSHIFTING FROM 3-2, THE RPM REVS UP AND THE CAR SHIFTS WITH A DELAY AND SLIPPING. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT. IT WILL REV THE ENGINE AND SHOOT THE RPM UP TO 4. I THEN HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS IN HOPES THAT IT WILL SHIFT. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO DIFFERENT SHOPS TO GET IT WORKED ON BUT WHEN THEY TELL ME IT WILL COST $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION REPAIR I HAVE GONE BACK TO PICK UP MY CAR BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD THE PRICES. *TR
HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES SHIFTING INTO AND OUT OF FIRST GEAR. HESITATION AND "CLUNKING FEELING". CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD SLIGHT HESITATION SHIFTING INTO/OUT OF FIRST SINCE PURCHASED NEW, BUT IS MUCH WORSE AT HIGHER MILEAGE. DEALER RECOMMENDED TRANSMISSION FLUSH, HAS NOT SOLVED PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS WITH SAME PROBLEM, AND SAME FLUSHING RECOMMENDATION THAT DOES NOT FIX PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. WAITING FOR REPAIR ESTIMATES, BUT SEEING ANYTHING FROM $3000-5000. I THINK THERE HAS BEEN A DEFECT SINCE BEGINNING WITH THIS TRANSMISSION ON THE 2005 MAXIMA, BUT HAS NOW BECOME TOO NOTICEABLE TO IGNORE. *TT

THE DEALER FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION BUT THAT DID NOT REMEDY THE HARD SHIFT. THE DEALER DID NOT REQUIRE THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT AND THE COMPUTER ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE RECENT VEHICLE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. *TR

MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SE GIVES DELAYED GEAR SHIFTS AND AS A RESULT A SIGNIFICANT JERK WHILE DRIVING. IT IS MAINLY WHEN DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS. I AM REPORTING AS THIS SHIFT ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA AND HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS. I HOPE NISSAN FIXES THIS KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY CAR.

I WAS PULLING OUT OF TACO BELL DRIVE THRU WHEN MY CAR JUST JERKED SO HARD CAUSING ME TO WHIP LASH. THEN FOUND OUT NISSAN KNOWINGLY PUT A TRANSMISSION THAT THEY KNEW WOULD FAIL IN TIME BUT SAID NOTHING WHEN THEY STARTED MAKING PROFITS FROM TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND PARTS. I WAS PREPARING TO EXIT OUT OF A PARKING LOT WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR JOLTED BACKWARD AND HIT THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE CAR BEHIND ME THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN. THIS CAR JERKS AND JOLTS UNPREDICTABLY.

WHENEVER MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA IS PLACED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, IT HESITATES AND THEN JERKS INTO DRIVE. IT IS ALMOST LIKE A KICKING MOTION. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY ONLY OPTION IS TO HAVE THE VALVE BODY REBUILT. THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY SURROUNDING PARTS OF THE VEHICLE.
