ABS/SPEED SENSOR/CONTROLLER FAILURE - DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH THE CAR SLOWED TO 25 & WOULDN'T GO OVER. COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. LATER FOUND OUT RR SENSOR WENT OUT FROM TECH. REPLACED, STILL DIDN'T WORK. BOUGHT NEW ABS CONTROLLER (VERY EXPENSIVE)! STILL NOT WORKING. THEN BOUGHT NEW RR HUB. NO DICE. WENT TO BUCKEYE NISSAN, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME ANOTHER $4000 TO REPLACE ALL THE PARTS AGAIN AND A FEW WE DIDN'T! BOUGHT HUB FOR LR AND SOLVED PROBLEM. WELL WE THOUGHT. A MONTH LATER, IT IS NOW DOING IT AGAIN. THE CAR WON'T GO OVER 25 BUT THIS TIME NO LIGHTS. GETTING GRINDING FROM BRAKES LIKE IT DID WHEN CONTROLLER WENT OUT. BETTER NOT BE GOING OUT AGAIN. PAID A LOT OF MONEY TO GET THIS CAR FIXED AND NOW A FEW WEEKS LATER WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. ALL WERE DEALER PARTS NEW. NOT CHEAP AND THEN THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO RIP ME OFF MORE TO REPLACE PARTS THAT WERE NEW. THIS WAS MY THIRD AND FINAL NISSAN I WILL EVER BUY AND WILL TELL MY CHURCH FRIENDS AND FAMILY!! I FIRST TOOK MY 07 MAXIMA IN TO THE DEALERSHIP OCT 2010 BECAUSE THE CAR LOST ENGINE POWER WHEN IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE. THEY HAD IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND FINALLY DECIDED THE CAR NEEDED A REAR WHEEL SENSOR AND A LARGER HOLE GROUND IN THE REAR "KNUCKLE" TO LET MOISTURE AND SALT OUT. THIS COST ME $807 AND THEY ASSURED ME THIS WAS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE CAR WAS FIXED. IT IS NOW FEB 2011 AND THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP. THE DIAGNOSIS IS 2 MORE WHEEL SENSORS NEED REPLACED AND NOW IT ALSO NEEDS A ABS ACTUATOR. TOTAL BILL $2500. WHEN THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING THE CAR LOSES POWER WHICH IS PROBABLY NOT A BAD IDEA CAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES DOWN TO THE FLOOR WHILE GROWLING AND ACTING LIKE IT IS SLIDING ON ICE. NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AS I KNOW THEY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO GRIND SOME OPENINGS IN THE PLASTIC COVER TO LET MOISTURE OUT. THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL THOUGH. I HAVE SEEN MANY OF THESE COMPLAINTS FOR 2006 MAXIMAS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE DECREASED ACCELERATION TO 20 MPH WITHOUT WARNING AND DESPITE THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE ABS SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 36,300.
CHANGED THE BATTERY AND NOW THE FUEL GAGE NEEDLE IS NOW UNDER THE E PIN. *TR
CAR AFTER WARMED UP IS GETTING STUCK IN FIRST GEAR, HAD BACK TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT TRIGGER THE PROBLEM, HOOKED UP COMPUTER AND CAN NOT GET AN ERROR CODE SO THEY CALLED NISSAN USA AND WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER PROGRAM THAT TELLS THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT, I HAD THE CAR BACK FOR THREE DAYS AND SAME PROBLEM, BROUGHT RIGHT BACK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY HAD FOR ANOTHER TWO WEEKS AND I JUST RECEIVED A CALL THAT THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO COME PICK IT UP, AS SOON AS I DROVE OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR ITS HUNG UP IN FIRST AND THEN MY ABS WERE ACTING UP SOUNDED LIKE THEY WERE DRAGGING ON THE GROUND BROUGHT RIGHT BACK TO DEALER THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 27 DAYS AND STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS IN THE POWER STEERING FOR A PERIOD OF ONE MINUTE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED DURING COLD WEATHER TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SIMILAR DEFECT AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE RESULTING FROM FAILURE OF THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER ON MY 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH ONLY 48,000 MILES. FORTUNATELY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE SERVICE BAY AT KAL TIRE LOCATED IN LADNER BC, CANADA. IT WAS NECESSARY TO EMPLOY THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. BECAUSE I RESIDE IN POINT ROBERTS WA, I COULD NOT TAKE THE RISK OF DRIVING 45 MILES TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER LOCATED IN BELLINGHAM WA. LADNER IS ONLY 5 OR 6 MILES FROM POINT ROBERTS WA. HAD I RAN THE MAXIMA DOWN I-5 DOWN TO BELLINGHAM WA, THIS COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WOULD HAVE BEEN LETHAL WHEN DRIVING AT STATED EXPRESSWAY SPEED LIMITS OF 70 MPH. THE FAILURE OF A MASTER BRAKE VALVE AT 48,000 MILES IS UNPRECEDENTED IN MY 50 YEARS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE. I HAVE REQUESTED THE VALVE BE HELD FOR ANALYSIS AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO MAIL IT TO YOU FOR YOUR PERUSAL SHOULD YOU WISH TO DIAGNOSE IT. THIS VALVE NOT COVERED UNDER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY, PER THE NISSAN DEALER LOCATED IN BELLINGHAM WA. I CONCLUDE THIS COMMUNICATION BY EXPRESSING MY CONCERNS REGARDING THE RELATIVE SAFETY OF THIS MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. IT IS NOT UNREASONABLE TO STATE LIVES ARE AT STAKE IN THIS MATTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,821.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECREASE IN POWER. HE RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND WHEN DEPRESSING IT A SECOND TIME, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF FUEL, YET THE FAILURE CORRECTED ITSELF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR OFTEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THE ABS SENSOR WOULD NEED REPLACING. IN ADDITION, BOTH KNUCKLES AND THE HUB WOULD NEED MODIFICATION. THE DEALER DISABLED THE ABS SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,966.
CLICKING AND POPPING WHEN I MAKE A TURN OR GO OVER A BUMP. BRAKES SQUEAK SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALER AND IT WAS DRIVING WORST THAN BEFORE. THE CAR STARTED PULLING TO THE RIGHT. *TR
HEAR A CLICKING NOISE WHEN MAKING TURNS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I WAS TOLD THEY TIGHTEN THE STEERING. I WAS CLOSE TO MY FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRING. IT LASTED UNTIL 3 MONTHS LATER AND THE CLICKING IS BACK. I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CHARGED TO LOOK AT SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
FAULTY GAS GAUGE ON 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA, RECALL (NOTED IN NEWSPAPER TODAY, 4MAR10) SHOWS THE SAME PROBLEM BEING RECALLED ON MY YEAR VEHICLE, BUT NOT MY SPECIFIC MODEL (MAXIMA). GAS GAUGE SHOWS QUARTER TANK OF GAS WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA AND MY CAR SHOT OUT OF A CAR WASH AND ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO FEDERAL PROPERTY. AFTER THE CAR WAS PUSHED FROM THE DRY OPTION I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TOOK THE CAR OUT OF NEUTRAL, PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND THE CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET. I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES AND HAD TO USE TWO HANDS TO STEER THE CAR AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. I HAD THE CHOICE OF A LIGHT POLE OR A FENCE ON FEDERAL PROPERTY. I DECIDED ON THE FENCE TO BE THE LEAST DAMAGING. MY GRANDSON WAS IN THE CAR AND IT ALL HAPPENED WITHIN TWO MINUTES. I MADE EYE CONTRACT WITH DRIVERS TO MY LEFT AND RIGHT AND HONKED MY HORN AND EVERYONE AROUND SAW I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM AND THEY STOPPED. I HAD NO BRAKES AND I REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN AND THAT WAS OVER TWO MONTHS AGO AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO THIS BUT I HAVE NOT HAD A DEFINITE ANSWER FROM THEM. I TOLD THEM I NEED SOMETHING TO BE DONE AND THAT I FEEL I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THEY SENT A CONTRACTOR OUT TWICE TO CHECK IT ALL OUT. THE SECOND TIME WAS FOR A TEST DRIVE AND CHECKING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. SOMETHING FAILED IN THIS CAR AND I HAVE ONLY THIS CAR TO DRIVE TO WORK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE, I WANT A FIX. NO ONE HAS SAID THAT IT CAN OR SHOULD BE FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT HELPING ME AT ALL. *TR
CAR JERKS TRANSMISSION SLIPS, IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME... EXCEPT AT SPEEDS 55 OR HIGHER. NISSAN WOULD NOT FIX THE CAR.. I JUST MISSED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY MILEAGE AND THEY WILL NOT STAND BY THE PRODUCT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
I'M HAVING A HIGH PITCH WHINE COMING ESPECIALLY FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE PITCH GETS LOUDER WITH RPM CHANGES. IT'S CONSTANTLY THERE, AS SOON AS THE CAR IS ON, WHETHER THE CAR IS IDLING, ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. THIS WHINE COMES FROM THE SPEAKERS, BECAUSE WHEN I DISCONNECTED THE OEM BOSE AMPLIFIER, THE NOISE WAS GONE. I BELIEVE THIS IS KNOWN AS THE "ALTERNATOR WHINE" SO I CHANGED A NEW ALTERNATOR TOLD BY THE DEALER, AND CHANGED TO ANOTHER OEM BOSE AMPLIFIER, BUT THE "WHINE" STILL REMAINS. THE HIGH PITCH NOISE IS VERY ANNOYING AND CAUSES MIGRAINES. *TR
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR...THIS BEING THE LATEST. SINCE BUYING THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD REPLACED BECAUSE IT WARPED, THE RADIO REPLACED, THE CHROME RAILS ON TOP OF THE CAR REPLACED AND NOW I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE I WAS HEARING A "CHIRPING" NOISE. I THEN GOT A CALL BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPRESSOR HAD GONE BAD. BUT IT GETS BETTER AS RIGHT AFTER THAT I WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN GOT A BAD BATCH OF COMPRESSORS AND THEY CAN'T GET A NEW ONE FOR ME. BUT IT STILL GETS BETTER...I WAS THEN TOLD THAT IF I DON'T REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR (AT A COST OF OVER 1K) THEN IT WILL FAIL AND DAMAGE THE BELTS, WHICH WILL CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL AS WELL AS DAMAGING THE CONDENSER. SO I NEED A PART THAT NISSAN SAYS IS DEFECTIVE SO THEY DON'T HAVE ANYMORE OF THEM AND ARE WAITING ON A NEW SUPPLIER, BUT IN ADDITION TO THAT IF I DON'T GET THIS PART IT WILL CAUSE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE CAR. *TR
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE AND AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AND THE CHANGE OF BELTS MY CAR STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHEN THE HEAT OR AIR WAS TURNED ON. 2 MONTHS LATER WHEN I TURNED ON MY AIR CONDITION NO AIR WAS COMING THROUGH. TOOK IT BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY AIR PRESSURE PUMP HAD A LEAK IN IT. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT WITH A 2007 CAR THAT I WOULD HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM THIS SOON!!! NOTHING WAS DONE TO REPAIR MY CAR. I OVER HEARD THE TWO SERVICE GUYS SAY THAT "OH YA, THAT'S GOING TO TAKE A PAYCHECK". NOT KNOWING THAT I WAS STILL LISTENING. I FEEL THAT THEY DID NOT CARE ABOUT ME OR WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH MY CAR ALL THEY WANTED WAS FOR ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I TOLD THEM THAT MY HUSBAND WAS DEPLOYED AND HAD TWO SMALL CHILDREN THAT HAD ASTHMA AND THE HEAT WOULD TRIGGER THEIR ASTHMA AND ON THIS DAY IT WAS ALREADY 78 DEGREES. I WOULD NEVER USE THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN!!!! IF I HAVE TO I WILL TAKE MY CAR TO ANOTHER NISSAN DEALERSHIP OUTSIDE OF SAVANNAH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES, SIZE P215-60R16. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE HAD COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT. THE TIRE APPEARED TO BE SHREDDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND A NEW TIRE WAS INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER TO SEND THEM THE FAULTY TIRE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE TIRES SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
FRONT END JIGGLES OR SHAKES DURING DRIVING AND STOPPING . *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A TIRES, SIZE P245/45R18. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE STEERING AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DEALER BALANCED THE TIRES, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. GOODYEAR STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE CONSIDERED A RIDE DISTURBANCE. SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $116 PER TIRE FOR FOUR $300 TIRES. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WOULD BE REPLACED UP TO 25% TREAD WEAR; HOWEVER, THE TREAD WEAR IS CURRENTLY AT 30%. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT IN JUNE, WHEN THE FAILURE FIRST BEGAN, HER TIRES COULD HAVE BEEN AT 25% TREAD WEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. UPDATED 10/14/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE TIRES HAD BAD TRACTION AND WERE BALANCED 5 TIMES. UPDATED 10/16/08. *JB
MY NEW 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA WAS "BUCKING" AT 40 MPH & 60 MPH. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON CAME ON. LATER THAT DAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT ON ME 3 TIMES. THE NEXT DAY I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS THE CAM SHAFT. THE NEXT DAY I WAS ABLE TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I COULDN'T GET IT OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT AFTER STALLING 3 TIMES EACH TIME I PUT IT INTO DRIVE. THE MECHANIC WAS AUTHORIZED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE OVER NIGHT TO DRIVE IT AFTER BEING ABLE TO TEST DRIVE IT. I WAS INFORMED THE NEXT DAY THAT THE MECHANIC COULDN'T GET IT OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT EITHER. THEY HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO LOCATE ANY ERROR. *JB
ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2007 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AS THE SERVICE ADVISOR CHECKED ME IN I MADE HIM AWARE THAT MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND MY CAR WAS PERIODICALLY STALLING. INSTEAD OF THOROUGHLY CHECKING MY CAR OUT, BEING THAT I EXPLAINED THAT IT WASN'T RUNNING RIGHT, THE ADVISOR SAID THERE WERE A FEW TRANSMISSION CODES BUT THEY JUST RESET THE COMPUTER. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY CAR AND IT STILL PERIODICALLY STALLED BUT ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2007 MY CAR BEGAN STALLING AND JERKING SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE TECHNICIAN RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE SAME CODES FROM THE PRIOR WEEKS VISIT CAME UP. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP MY CAR FOR EXTENSIVE WORK. HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT START THIS PROCESS UNTIL WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 3, 2007, I EXPLAINED TO THE ADVISOR THAT I DROVE 80 MILES A DAY TO MY JOB AND WOULD NEED A LOANER VEHICLE. HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER VEHICLE BECAUSE I DID NOT PURCHASE MY CAR DIRECTLY THROUGH THEM. THE ADVISOR THEN SAID THE EARLIEST THEY COULD GET MY CAR IN ON MONDAY OCTOBER 1, 2007. I STRESSED TO THE ADVISOR THAT IT WAS STILL THREE DAYS AWAY AND I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR 80 MILES A DAY. HE JUST TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR TOO MUCH. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY OCTOBER 1, 2007 AS I LEFT MY HOME I COULD NOT EVEN MAKE IT UP THE STREET IN MY SUBDIVISION, MY CAR CUT OFF, I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT AGAIN BECAUSE I HAD A SCHOOL BUS BLOCKED. I FINALLY GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY TRANSMISSION WAS BAD; THEY KEPT MY CAR FOUR DAYS. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP SINCE THEN AND IT STILL IS NOT RIGHT. ONE VISIT THEY SAID THAT I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY EXHAUST SYSTEM SO THEY KEPT IT TWO MORE DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT CALL IN A SPECIAL TECHNICIAN IN TO FOUND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR SO I CONTACTED CONSUMER AFFAIRS. AS I STATED I DRIVE 80 MILES EVERYDAY AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR. *TR
WE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN ONE MONTH AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE GAS CAP WASN'T FULLY CLOSED AND WE WOULD BE CHARGED $100 TO TURN OFF THE SERVICE LIGHT. NOT ONLY THAT BUT WE WERE CHASTISED BECAUSE WE DIDN'T NOTICE THE WARNING ON THE GAS CAP THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE NOT FULLY CLOSING OR LEAVING THE GAS CAP OFF IS A COMMON MISTAKE THAT ANY VEHICLE OWNER MAKES AT LEAST ONCE. AT LEAST THE SERVICE LIGHT SHOULD GO OFF ONCE YOU TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER AND PAY TO HAVE THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WE WON'T GO TO THE DEALER FOR THIS TYPE OF "FIX" AGAIN. WHAT IF THERE IS A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM AND WE ARE RIDING AROUND WITH THE SERVICE LIGHT ON, THINKING IT IS JUST THE GAS CAP? *JB UPDATED 01-16-08. *KB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS AN INTELLIGENT KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, BUT IT AUTOMATICALLY CONTINUED RUNNING AND BEGAN TO ROLL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OF FAILURE AS THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE TRADED BACK, BUT NOT FOR THE FULL PRICE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 4,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,300.
I PURCHASED MY MAXIMA 2007 IN MAY. SO FAR I PUT 2440 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" IS ON. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A COMPLAIN TO NISSAN TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THIS SYMTOM. THX.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 NISSAN QUEST AND HAD THE REMOTE START OPTION INSTALLED, WHICH WAS AN AUDIOVOX AS-9076 WHEN INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THAT WITH THE REMOTE START PACKAGE INSTALLED, IT WAS POSSIBLE TO USE THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE DOORS TO START THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE KEY. MY CONCERN HERE IS THAT MY WIFE COMES HOME AND GETS OUT OF THE CAR TO GET MY SON OUT OF THE BACK AND MY ONE YEAR OLD SON COULD LOCK AND START THE CAR WITHOUT THE KEYS, IF MY WIFE LEFT HER PURSE ON THE FRONT SEAT WHILE SHE GOT HIM, THE ONLY THING SHE COULD DO WOULD BE TO CALL THE POLICE, AS I DOUBT SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO BREAK THE WINDOW. THE MOST DANGEROUS SCENARIO I CAN THINK OF WOULD BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE SUMMER OR SOMETHING WHICH COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO A CHILD, OR A HEART ATTACK TO HIS MOTHER. I HAVE HAD THE REMOTE START SYSTEM DISABLED AND WE HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO "CORRECT" THE PROBLEM, THEY TRIED ONCE AND SAID THEY COULD NOT CORRECT IT, SO I LEFT IT DISABLED UNTIL EITHER REMOVED OR CORRECTED, BUT IF SOMEONE ELSE HAD THE SAME OPTION INSTALLED AND DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE BUTTONS, I BELIEVE THAT IT COULD BE JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT HAPPENS TO AN INNOCENT CHILD, WHICH I WOULD HOPE CAN BE AVOIDED. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED NISSAN, THE DEALERSHIP, AND AUDIOVOX WITH MY CONCERNS AS WELL, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO BELIEVE THIS DANGER EXISTS, OR MERITS ANY SERIOUS ATTENTION. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK WITH THE IGNITION KNOB IN THE OFF POSITION, BUT THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT BE IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL # 06V402000 (STEERING:COLUMN LOCKING:ANTI-THEFT DEVICE), THEREFORE HE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REMEDY. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60000.
2007 NISSAN MAXIMA ABS ACTIVATES WITH NORMAL BRAKING. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN NTB07-016B FOR THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS CLEARLY A DESIGN DEFECT FROM NISSAN. AS I WAS DRIVING AND CATCHING SPEED I NOTICED MY CAR SLIPPED INTO A LOWER GEAR I WOULD HEAR ABS ENGAGING AND IF I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ABS WOULD BE ACTIVATED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NO WARRANTY THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME $1,200 TO REPLACE THE BEARINGS AND THE SENSORS AS THEY WERE CORRODED DUE TO WATER AND DIRT TRAPPED WHERE THE SENSORS REST. THE SERVICE BULLETIN CLEARLY STATES THAT A PIECE HAS TO BE GRINDED OFF ON KNUCKLE IN ORDER TO ALLOW PROPER DRAINAGE OF WATER AND DIRT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR TO BE DONE COMING OUT OF CONSUMERS POCKETS DUE TO THE OBVIOUS DESIGN DEFECT FROM NISSAN. THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ONGOING DEFECT AND A RECALL SHOULD BE MANDATED TO CORRECT THIS POTENTIAL HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. *TR
