2003 NISSAN MURANO FRONT DRIVER SEAT BROKE WHILE DRIVING. NOW ROCKS BACK AND FORTH. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON MY 2003 MURANO FALLS DOWN FROM THE UP POSITION, TO RIGHT IN MY LINE OF SIGHT EVERYTIME I GO OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE DEALER WANTS $500 PER VISOR & I HAVE NOTICED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THE MURANO.ORG BULLETIN BOARD. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER THE SUV REACHES 4-5 YEARS AFTER BEING BUILT. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND BEGAN TO TAKE THE EXIT . STOPPED AT THE LIGHT TO TURN LEFT AND THE CAR HAD NO POWER. THE GAS PEDAL WAS TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF , SAT A FEW MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR UP AND CREPT INTO THE INTERSECTION, TRYING TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY, MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN, SAT ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN AGAIN STARTED IT UP. IT TRAVELED MAYBE A HALF A BLOCK, STOPPED, TURNED THE KEY OFF, SAT IN THE HIGHWAY (VERY DANGEROUS) AND PRECEDED TO TRAVEL ANOTHER BLOCK TO MY DESTINATION. PARKED THE CAR AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO GET IT BACK HOME AND TO THE NISSAN DEALER. HE HAS JUST CALLED AND SAID IT IS THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF 4500.00 DOLLARS. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, THE CAR HAS ONLY 87000 MILES ONE IT. AFTER READING MANY DISCUSSION GROUPS ON THE INTERNET I FIND THAT ALOT OF OWNERS OF THE 2003 MURANO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WE CALLED NISSAN AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR US. WE NEED TO BAN TOGETHER AND GET SOME ACTION. I DON'T KNOW HOW A COMPANY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS. TOO MANY INCIDENTS TO IGNORE. *TR
DRIVER SEAT ON 2003 NISSAN MURANO HAS BREAKING SEAT FRAME. SEAT TILTS TOWARD DRIVER DOOR ON TURNS MAKING IT EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A SAFETY OR MANUFACTURING PROBLEM WHEN CONTACTED. HAVE FOUND OVER A THOUSAND REPORTS OF SAME CONDITION ON 2003-2006 MODELS. THIS CONDITION ALMOST CREATED A HEAD-ON COLLISION WHILE I WAS AT THE WHEEL. DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPAIR WITHOUT NISSAN APPROVAL AND AS I STATED NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM. IT IS EITHER A DESIGN PROBLEM OR A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE FOR THE MANUFACTURER NISSAN. IF THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE SAFETY ISSUE THEN I GUESS I DON'T KNOW WHAT ONE REALLY LOOKS LIKE. 2003 MURANO, DRIVER SEAT BRACKET SUPPORT FAILED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO AROUND A LEFT TURN, THE DRIVER'S SEAT SUDDENLY LIFTED UP ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. IT FELT AS IF THE SEAT HAD BECOME UNBOLTED FROM THE CAR. I WAS OBEYING THE SPEED LIMIT AT THE TIME AND THERE WERE NO OUT OF THE ORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, THERE IS A METAL BAR ACROSS THE BACK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT THAT HAS BROKEN. I CONSIDER THE SEAT TO NOW BE UNSAFE AND I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS HAD HAPPENED DURING AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS PART DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES, BUT WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS INITIALLY DETERMINED TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC THEN STATED THAT IF THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED, IT WOULD NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAL ISSUE WAS WITH THE COMPUTER AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. HE WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE DRIVER HEARD A LOUD THUMPING NOISE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPILLING FROM THE GAS TANK. THE GAS TANK SHIELD WAS INSTALLED TO PREVENT FUEL FROM LEAKING OUT; HOWEVER, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT IT HAD BEEN LOOSE AND CAUSED THE FUEL TO LEAK OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE MANUFACTURER IS STILL ATTEMPTING TO DETERMINE IF THE RECALL APPLIES TO HER VEHICLE. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE REPAIR SHOP AND HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 116,000.
I OWN A 2003 MURANO AND THE DRIVER SEAT JUST BROKE ONE DAY. NOW WHEN I DRIVE, I AM THROWN AGAINST THE DOOR. ANY BUMP IN THE ROAD RELOCATES MY DRIVING FOOT DUE TO A ROCKING MOTION.THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE TRACK ASSEMBLY AND COULD FIX IT. (PART ALONE IS $641) CALLED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND WAS GIVEN THE EXCUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN LISTED. I BELIEVE THIS A DESIGN FLAW THAT NISSAN WON'T LIVE UP TO. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE NEVER HAD A DRIVER'S SEAT BREAK IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING AND OWNING CARS. THE MILEAGE OF MY CAR SHOULD NOT MATTER. (I HAVE A1936 TRUCK AND THE SEAT HAS NEVER BROKEN. ) ANY TYPE OF MOVEMENT IS DANGEROUS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEN THE VEHICLE STALLS. THE FAILURE OCCURS PRIMARILY IN THE MORNING WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $400 FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,250.
AFTER BEING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO SE 2WD DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. ONCE THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED, THE CAR BARELY STARTS TO MOVE, BUT THE TACHOMETER CONTINUES TO INCREASE. AT ABOUT 3000 RPM, OR ROUGHLY 1-2 SECONDS UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE MURANO THEN LURCHES FORWARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS EXPERIENCED LONG PERIODS OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR BEING IDLE. I TOOK IT TO NISSAN AND THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM BY CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY CHAMBER. THE MURANO DID NOT HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS UNTIL ABOUT 4 MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR. SINCE THEN, IT HAS BEEN ACTING UP AS TRAFFIC CONDITIONS WARRANT. I CAN "RESET" OR STOP THE LURCHING FROM OCCURRING BY TURNING OFF THE IGNITION AND THEN TURNING IT BACK ON. THE PROBLEM IS, I'M USUALLY IN TRAFFIC WHEN I DO THIS, AND THE PROBLEM RESUMES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES LATER. IF I GET AWAY FROM THE TRAFFIC, STOP AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR A BIT, THEN TURN THE ENGINE BACK ON AND DRIVE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC, THEN THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR. *TR
I HAVE OWNED 2003 NISSAN MURANO FOR 5 YEARS AND HAVE 110,000 MILES ON IT..IT HAS NOW SOME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS....WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND THEN LURCHES FORWARD. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS IF AT A STOP LIGHT, YOU STEP ON GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS....THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD VIOLENTLY.. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY, AND IS BECOMING VERY SCARY. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO WITHIN THE FIRST THREE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS BROKEN WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. I'VE OWNED THE CAR NOW FOR 5 YEARS HAVE 52K MILES ON IT AND THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS FIXED ANDUNDER WARRANTY THE SECOND TIME IT WAS FIXED BUT I WAS CHARGED AND THE THIRD TIME JUST HAPPENED ON FEB 7 2009 THE SECOND FIX LAST EDONLY 1 WEEK OVER 1 YEAR. WHICH NEGATES THE REPAIR WARRANTY. I AM UNSURE HOW THIS WILL BE FIXED BUT A DRIVER CAN AND I HAVE LOST CONTROL F THE VEHICLE AS THE SEAT DROPS BACK AND YOU FALL BACKWARD. THIS COUL;D CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND A POTENTIAL FATAL SITUATION. A SEAT IN A CAR SHOULD NOT REEK ONCE A YEAR. *TR

I HAVE A NISSAN 2003 MURANO, WHEN IN A STOPPED POSITION, THE CAR WILL FAIL TO ACCELERATE UNTIL A FEW SECONDS LATER, WHICH CAN CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IN TRAFFIC. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE THAT HAS THIS ISSUE, THERE ARE MANY OF US. I HAD IT CHECK AND TOLD I NEEDED TO HAVE THE CVT REPLACED. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2003 MURANO IN JANUARY OF 2008. EVERY TIME I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A VERY LOW AMOUNT. THE LOW AMOUNT WAS NEVER LOOKED AT AS A PROBLEM. WHEN I WAS GETTING A RECALL COMPLETED I WAS TELLING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE ABOUT MY LOW OIL LEVEL WHEN I TOOK MY CAR EVERY 3,000 MILES. HE ASKED IF I HAD ANY OIL LEAKS THAT WERE LEFT ON THE GROUND WHEN I MOVED MY CAR. I LET HIM KNOW THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN OIL ON THE GROUND. I ALSO LET HIM KNOW THAT I HEAR A RATTLING NOISE SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND SOMETIMES MY CAR GETS STUCK WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT WILL ZOOM FORWARD. I HAVE ALMOST REAR ENDED AROUND 6 CARS. I TRY TO LET CARS GET A LITTLE WAYS IN FRONT OF ME IF IT GETS STUCK SO I DO NOT REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. HE SAID THAT THE RECALL OF THE ALTERNATOR WOULD FIX THE ISSUES WITH THE CAR GETTING STUCK AND THEY WOULD CHECK THE ENGINE. I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM TODAY WITH THE CAR GETTING STUCK. I HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE EVERY 1,000 MILES AND BY TIME I MADE IT TO THE 2,000 MILES MY OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. SO THEY NEVER DID A THIRD OIL CONSUMPTION TEST LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THAT THE ENGINES THAT WERE PLACED IN THE 2003 NISSAN MURANOS WERE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND I HAVE A 14 MONTH OLD SON IN MY CAR WITH ME 90% OF THE TIME. THEREFORE NOT ONLY IS MY LIFE AND OTHERS IN CARS AROUND ME IN JEOPARDY SO IS MY SON'S LIFE. THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE IS ONE OTHER ISSUE I HAD WHERE I HAD UNLOCKED MY DOORS AND PUT MY CHILD IN THE CAR. WHEN I WENT TO GET IN THE CAR HAD LOCKED ON IT'S OWN. LUCKILY WE WERE AT THE HOUSE AND HAD A SPARE KEY. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS ISSUE COMMON. *CN
I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO AT 65,000 MILES THE CVT TRANSMISSION CASE CRACKED IN HALF. THE CAR WAS INOPERABLE AND LEFT ME STRANDED. AFTER THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPLACING THE CVT TRANSMISSION THE TRANSFER CASE HAS CRACKED AGAIN AT 120,000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND THEY HAVE PERSUADED ME TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC WORK (ALTHOUGH A LARGE VISIBLE CRACK IN THE TRANSFER CASE IS QUITE OBVIOUS) AND THEN PROCEEDED TO DENY ALL REIMBURSEMENTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH HUNDREDS ON COMPLAINTS ONLINE, AN OFFICIAL NISSAN TSB, YET NO RECALL FROM NISSAN OR NHTSA. *TR
I OWN A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. I CURRENTLY HAS 67,000 MILES. OVER THE LAST MONTH I HAVE HAD MAJOR ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER OR DOESN'T RESPOND AT ALL WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER A 1-3 SECOND PAUSE THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY ENGAGES SPORADICALLY AND "CLUNKS" VERY HARD. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE NISSAN DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NO REPAIR OF THIS CVT TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING EVERY TIME THAT I DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN BUSY TRAFFIC AND HAS CAUSED SEVERAL NEAR COLLISIONS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION UNDER 100,000 MILES. *TR

SEAT RAIL BROKE WHILE GETTING INTO VEHICLE. SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED FIRST TIME WAS REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP 15 MONTHS EARLIER. SEAT IS NOW LOOSE AND CAN BE MOVED UP AND DOWN. *TR
I AM ONE OF PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF NISSAN MURANO OWNERS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I DRIVE A CONGESTED FREEWAY AND AT LEAST TWICE, SOMETIMES THREE TIMES A WEEK, IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE CAR STARTS TO HESITATE WHEN I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. I ACTUALLY HAVE FOUND THAT "FEATHERING" IT HELPS FROM HAVING IT JERK FORWARD AS I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR, BUT IT IS STILL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS IS CONTINUOUS WHEN I COME TO A STOP OR ALMOST TO A STOP UNTIL, AS OTHERS HAVE MENTIONED, I HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF. DIFFICULT TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY. IT GOES AWAY FOR A WHILE AFTER I TURN IT OFF, BUT IF THE DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE THE SAME, IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS A SENSOR INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, AS THERE ARE NO RE-BUILDS AVAILABLE AND NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE PARTS FOR THIS TRANSMISSION AVAILABLE FOR RE-BUILDS. THE QUOTE FOR REPLACEMENT IS OVER $8,000. I BELIEVE THIS IS APPROXIMATELY WHAT THE CAR IS WORTH. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND I AM CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE WILL BE INJURED OR WORSE AS A RESULT OF IT, IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY HAPPENED. *TR

I NOTICED THE DRIVERS SEAT IN MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO ROCKING AND LEANING TO THE LEFT. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT SOMETHING WAS DEFINITELY BROKEN. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SEAT FRAME WAS BROKEN AND THAT THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF 1030.00. WHEN I GOOGLED THIS INFO I REALIZED THAT MURANO OWNERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WERE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SOME OF THEM HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THIS PROBLEM STARTS CAUSING ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS? *TR
SUN VISOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE FALLS DOWN AND WILL NOT STAY UP. BLOCKS VIEW OF THE ROAD AND IS A HAZARD. *TR

I OWN A 2003 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD. THE FUEL TANK SHROUD WAS INSTALLED IN COMPLIANCE WITH RECALL CAMPAIGN 06V003000. THE SHROUD IS OF SUCH A BAD DESIGN THAT IT HAS BROKEN IN NORMAL WINTER DRIVING. THE MATERIALS USED ARE TOO WEAK AND THE DESIGN DOES NOT PROVIDE SUFFICIENT PROTECTION FOR THE TANK. OVERALL, THIS DESIGN IS TERRIBLE, AND DOES NOT SOLVE THE REQUIREMENT OF PROTECTING THE FUEL TANK. NISSAN NEED TO COME UP WITH A BETTER DESIGN THAT BETTER CONFORMS TO THE PROFILE OF THE FUEL TANK--THE CURRENT DESIGN PROTRUDES DOWN TOO FAR AND IS TOO EASILY DAMAGED. *TR

SOMETIME AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 20 MINS OR MORE MOSTLY COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD EXPERIENCE NO POWER WHEN ACCELERATE". AFTER TURNING, THE CAR OFF AND ALLOW IT TO SIT FOR 10 MINS. THE PROBLEM DID NOT REPEAT UNTIL AGAIN DRIVING OVER 20 MINS AND REPEAT AS ABOVE. MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. I HAD MY LOCAL AUTOZONE TO RUN A DIAGS TEST AND TWO CODES CAME UP P0011"CAMSHAFT POSITION BANK 1 & P0021 CAMSHAFT POSITION BANK 2. I TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOO RAN A DIAGS TEST AND BOTH CODES WERE PRESENT FOR FAILED INTAKE TIMING SENSORS. THEY SAID THE CARS OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW AND RECOMMENDED A CHANGE. NISSAN REPLACED BOTH CAMSHAFT CENSORS ON 1/08/09. TOTAL REPAIRS & LABOR WAS $430.00 ON 06/01/09 AGAIN THE CAR WAS REPEATING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY RAN ANOTHER DIAGS TEST. AGAIN, CODES P0011 & P0021 WERE PRESENT. THE SERVICE TECH EXPLAINS THE REASON FOR THE CODE WAS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT OIL CHANGES. ALSO, EXPLAIN THE CAR NEEDS THE 90000 MILE SERVICE TREATMENTS. THEY PERFORMED THE 27-POINT INSPECTION "ALL" CHANGED AIR FILTER, BATTERY SERVICE LUBE LOCKS, OIL & FILTER CHANGE ROTATE TIRES. TOTAL REPAIRS AND LABOR $334.99. WHEN I PICK THE CAR UP, THE CAR STILL DID NOT HAVE THE POWER IT NORMALLY HAD BEFORE ALL THE PROBLEMS, HOWEVER THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE TECH TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT AND BRING IT BACK IF PROBLEM OCCUR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HAS DIFFICULTY STARTING AND WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT NOTICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $400. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT A RECALL WAS IN PLACE FOR THE SENSORS; HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT COULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,700.

I PURCHASED A 2003 NISSAN MURANO WITH 23,000 MILES ON IT IN MARCH OF 2004. AFTER THE PURCHASED I TOOK IT TO A DEALER FOR THE 100 POINT INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FINE. BY THE END OF THAT YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME MY CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT SINCE IT ONLY HAPPENED ONCE AND WENT AND GOT THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED. NEXT BY THE SUMMER OF 2005 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID YOU NEED YOUR FUEL INJECTORS CLEANED. I GOT THEM CLEANED AND IT WENT AWAY AGAIN BUT EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE IT WOULD SLOW DOWN DURING ACCELERATION. I MADE IT TO 2006 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALER SAID I NEED TO CHANGE MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER BANK 1. HE SHOWED ME WHICH ONE AND REPLACE IT. A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN(CHECK ENGINE LIGHT). I WAS TOLD THE WRONG CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. I PURCHASED THE OTHER ONE AND EVERYTHING IS GOOD FOR A WHILE. THEN THE SLOW ACCELERATION GOT EVEN WORSE. THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NEEDLESS TO SAY I'M NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. I THEN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC THAT WASN'T A DEALER AND HE SHOWED ME A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ABOUT SLOW ACCELERATION. I BROUGHT IT TO NISSAN'S ATTENTION AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE A POSSIBILITY. THE TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACED THE VALVE BODY. I BOUGHT IT AND THEY PUT IT ON WITH EVEN WORSE RESULTS. NOW THEY SAID I NEED A TRANSMISSION. I ASKED HOW COME THEY DIDN'T CHECK THIS OUT IF IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEMS. THEY SAID WE NEED THE LOOK FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY KNOW ABOUT THE BULLETIN BUT SINCE ITS NOT A RECALL THEY DON'T HAVE TO CHECK FOR IT. WHY ISN'T THIS PROBLEMS A RECALL IF ITS KNOWN. ARE THEY WAITING FOR YOUR CAR TO COME OFF WARRANTY TO CHECK. THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR THAT SEEM TO KEEP HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BROKEN BOOT STRUTS, BUT THE MAJOR IS WITH THE ACCELERATION/CVT SYSTEM. MY 2003 MURANO IS NOW CLOCKING 133,000 MILES. I NOTICE A PROBLEM WITHIN THE LAST 20,000 MILES WHENEVER I GET STUCK IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED BUT ALWAYS AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A WHILE OR WHEN I AM IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE DEALER THAT IT IS A PRESSURE SENSOR PROBLEM THAT IS TYPICAL FOR MODEL THAT I HAVE. THE PROBLEM IS THE COST REPAIR IS HALF OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. *TR
THE METAL FRAME UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT BROKE IN TWO PLACES ALLOWING THE SEAT TO ROCK SIDE TO SIDE. ITS THE FRAME DIRECTLY UNDER THE SEAT AND NOT THE ASSEMBLY BOLTED TO FLOOR. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY DEFECT BECAUSE THE CAR HAS NOT HAD ANY ROUGH USE AND HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED. *TR
