DRIVERS SEAT BROKEN. POSSIBLY A BROKEN BRACKET. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 NISSAN MURANO WHICH CURRENTLY HAS 6,700 MILES.AT AT 4,000 MILES I NOTICED THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT STARTED ROCKING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ONLINE, I REALIZE THAT HUNDREDS OF OWNERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR DRIVER FRONT SEAT. I THINK THAT THIS IS A VERY VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, FRONT ON OR REAR END COLLISION, THE DRIVER COULD BE EASILY EJECTED FROM THE FRONT SEAT RESULTING IN AN INSTANT FATALITY. AS A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN, CAR OWNER AND OUT OF CONCERN FROM THE DRIVING PUBLIC, I THINK A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THIS DEFECT. PLEASE SEE A NUMBER OF FORUMS REPORTING THE ISSUE. MY 05 MURANO, JUST 33K MILES...THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS BECOME DETACHED AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME IT MAY HAVE BEEN A WELDING DEFECT. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE COST FOR REPAIR AND WHAT WAS INVOLVED, PARTS AND LABOR ARE APPROX. $1,000. THEY SAID I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT BOTTOM. SAID THE ASSEMBLY JUST COMES APART AND IS NOT REPAIRABLE. HE TOLD ME EVEN WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, THIS STILL WOULD NOT BE COVERED. I HAVE ESCALATED A CLAIM WITH THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AT NISSAN AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO CONTACT ME SOMETIME TODAY. SO FAR, I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THIS AS WELL. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY COMPLAINTS ARE ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM AND SAFETY ISSUE. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALLED ITEM FOR NISSAN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WOULD CONTINUOUSLY FALL DOWN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING ON A BUMPY ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VISOR WOULD BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,461. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
2005 NISSAN MURANO WITH APPROXIMATELY 53,000 MILES. THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REFUSES TO MAINTAIN POSITION, JUST QUIT WORKING. WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALERSHIP IN JACKSON, TN (CARLOCK) SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED. SEARCHED INTERNET AND FOUND OTHERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A MECHANICAL DEFECT AND ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NISSAN ANSWER TO THESE DEFECTS IN THEIR SUN VISORS. *TR
I AM NOT SURE OF THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE; OTHER THAN NORMAL USAGE. THE FAILURE IS THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT OCCURS ALL OF THE TIME. MY WIFE IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER AND IS ABLE TO DEAL WITH IT EASIER THAN I BECAUSE SHE IS SHORTER. HOWEVER WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE I HAVE TO MOVE THE VISOR TO THE SIDE. THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THE VISOR BLOCKS MY VISUAL VIEW AND MY HEAD COMES CLOSE TO HITTING IT WHEN I DRIVE. IF I REMOVE THE VISOR THEN BRIGHT SUN PROHIBITS MY VIEW. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN OF MINE. IN FACT ONE POSTER THAN POSTS AS A NISSAN TECHNICIAN EVEN CLAIMS THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I FIND THAT DISTURBING. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE AS I AM UNABLE TO FIND THE PART. I COULD GO TO THE DEALER BUT THEN I FIND $200 FOR A DEFECT REPLACEMENT TO BE A BIT MUCH. *TR
SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM CAR, TOOK IN AND PAID $100+ FOR NISSAN TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. CAR HAD 66,000 MILES ON IT WHICH WAS 6,000 MILES OVER WARRANTY. NISSAN WOULD NOT COVER TO REPLACE OR FIX THE TRANSMISSION. WAS TOLD COST TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE $4,500.00. THIS HAPPENED IN MAY DID NOT GET A RESPONSE FROM NISSAN UNTIL JULY. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. AT ABOUT 55,000 MILES, THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP - IT FALLS AT THE LEAST BUMP AND BLOCKS MY VISION. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AT LEAST THE END OF APRIL. I WAS TOLD MY BLACKBURN MOTORS THAT IT WOULD COST ME $296.01 PLUS LABOR TO REPLACE THE VISOR. I HAVE HAD OLD BEATER CARS THAT HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER, NISSAN, SHOULD REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE VISORS AT THEIR COST, NOT MINE. THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT STAY IN THE UPWARD OR "NOT IN USE" POSITION. I CAN BE DRIVING AND IT WILL FALL DOWN BLOCKING MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. IN THE BEGINNING I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY MY CAR BUT AFTER RESEARCHING AND TALKING WITH DEALERSHIP IT IS A COMMON MALFUNCTION. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ARE AWARE BUT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FIXED BY RECALL BECAUSE NISSAN HAS NOT GIVEN THEM THE "OKAY." IN ORDER TO FIX PROBLEM A NEW VISOR WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED WITH VISOR PART ALONE COSTING $200+. I CURRENTLY HAVE TO PULL OVER THE EXTENSION VISOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO HOLD UP THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WILL STILL FALL DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES BLOCKING MY VISION AND AT TIMES AT VERY CRUCIAL MOMENTS. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND A DEFECT PRODUCT INSTALLED BY NISSAN. IN THE BEGINNING I TRIED TO GET NISSAN TO FIX BUT TO NO AVAIL. I WOULD HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE NOW BUT WAS NOT AWARE OF YOUR WEBSITE, WHICH I BELIEVE NISSAN DEALERSHIPS SHOULD HAVE FILED WITH NISSAN, AND MAY HAVE BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS SAFETY HAZARD. I HOPE YOUR COMPANY CAN HELP GET THIS RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE DRIVING A MURANO WITH THIS DEFECT GETS INJURED OR CAUSES INJURY TO OTHER MOTORIST. *TR
A BRACKET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT HAS BROKEN, AND THE SEAT TILTS TO ONE SIDE AND ALSO FORWARD. IT IS LOOSE AND WILL MOVE FORWARD SEVERAL INCHES WHEN I DECELERATE/ACCELERATE OR GET IN/OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED UNDER NORMAL USE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT NOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN ORDINARY DRIVING ON STREETS. THE BROKEN BRACKET APPEARS TO BE VERY SMALL FOR A WEIGHT-BEARING PIECE. THIS PIECE WOULD CERTAINLY NOT SURVIVE A CRASH. IF STILL INTACT, THE PIECE WOULD CERTAINLY BREAK DURING A CRASH. THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO MOVE DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL, ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO POSSIBLY IMPACT THE STEERING WHEEL OR WINDSHIELD. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THIS YET, AS I NEED TO DECIDE WHAT ROUTE TO TAKE. APPARENTLY THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES ABOUT $1,000 TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE OFFENDING PART, BUT THEY WILL REPLACE IT WITH THE SAME FRAGILE PART. IT APPEARS THAT CONTACTING A PROFESSIONAL WELDER MAY BE A BETTER CHOICE, AS THEY CAN WELD THE PIECES TOGETHER AND STRENGTHEN THE PIECES TOO. *TR
A BRACKET IN THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT IN MY 2005 NISSAN MURAN HAS BROKEN CAUSING THE SEAT TO LIST TO ONE SIDE AND TO ROCK WHENEVER THE VEHICLE STOPS OR CORNERS. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. *TR

THE TRACK ASSEMBLY IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT FAILED. WHEN ENGAGED THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD BUT INSTEAD WOULD CAUSE THE ENTIRE SEAT TO SWIVEL TO THE RIGHT. PRIOR THE FAILURE THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE. ANY ATTEMPT TO SHIFT THE POSITION OF THE SEAT WHILE DRIVING COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR

AS I WAS LEAVING MY GARAGE, I HEARD A CLICK AND A SNAP AND REALIZED (AFTER MY SEAT STARTED LEANING TO THE LEFT) THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO BROKE. LUCKILY I WASN'T IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT NISSAN HAS YET TO VOLUNTARILY RECALL THIS DEFECT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT TILTED TO THE LEFT WHEN SHE MADE A TURN. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HIT HER HEAD ON THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND RECOMMENDED SHE REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN HOWEVER; THEY REFUSED TO COVER THE DAMAGES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,519. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKCET SHEARED OFF DUE TO WHAT HE BELIEVED WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT.
MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO'S DRIVER'S SEAT SNAPPED AND BROKE WHEN SIMPLY GOING AROUND A CURVE AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE CAR HAD 38,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADMITTED TO ME THAT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE SEAT BRACKET, BUT THAT THE COMPANY WAS NOT GOING TO COVER IT- NOT THE DEALERSHIP, AND NOT THE CAR MANUFACTURER. THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY HAD FIXED MANY, MANY MURANOS WITH THIS SAME DEFECT IN THE PAST TWO YEARS. BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND THE CAR IS LEASED, I WAS STUCK WITH A $1,200 REPAIR BILL ($800 FOR THE PART, A WHOLE NEW SEAT TRACK AND $400 FOR LABOR). I APPEALED TO NISSAN CORPORATION BECAUSE THE INTERNET IS BUZZING WITH REPORTS OF THIS BEING A DOCUMENTED DEFECT AND ENGINEERING FLAW, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT PLANNING ON DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT- I WAS STUCK PAYING THE ENTIRE AMOUNT! I FELT RIPPED OFF TO THE MAX! SINCE I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD AND THE SEAT FLOPPED AROUND AT WILL WHEN I WAS DRIVING, I FELT LIKE I HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO FIX IT BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID OF A CRASH. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES, AND SO SHOULD BROWN'S NISSAN OF STERLING, VIRGINIA! BEFORE THIS I WAS QUITE HAPPY WITH THE CAR, BUT NO MORE- I FEEL CHEATED AND ROBBED BY NISSAN AND BROWN'S. *TR
THE DRIVERS SEAT ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO S IS DEFECTIVE. THE FRAME UNDER THE SEAT THAT HOLDS THE SEAT TO THE CHASSIS OF THE VEHICLE SOMEHOW BROKE OFF AT ONE OF THE CORNERS. WHEN SITTING IN THE SEAT, THE SEAT ROCKS SIDE TO SIDE. I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE OCTOBER 2007, AND THE PROBLEM AROSE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE IS VERY WORRYING BECAUSE IT FEELS AS IF THE SEAT IS NOT HELD ON PROPERLY, AND FEELS AS IF THE SEAT IS GOING TO COMPLETELY COME OFF THE FRAME. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WILL COST ABOUT $1,000 TO REPAIR BECAUSE ITS NOT COVERED BY NISSAN. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BECOME A RECALL BECAUSE THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO AFFECT THOUSANDS OF NISSAN MURANO OWNERS. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE AS TIME HAS PASSED. *TR
BACK IN FEBRUARY, 2008, THE DRIVER'S SEAT ON MY 2005 MURANO MALFUNCTIONED--SPECIFICALLY, THE SEAT WAS NOT LOOSE, BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD NOT SLIDE FORWARD ON THE RIGHT SIDE THEREBY CREATING A GRINDING NOISE AND A SLIGHT AND UNNATURAL SWIVEL OF THE SEAT TO THE LEFT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. PART NUMBER 87450-CA684 WAS THE "OFFENDING" PART PER MY INVOICE. ALL OTHER POWER SEAT FEATURES WERE OPERATING FINE. I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW, BUT THEY HAD SEEN 5 SUCH INCIDENTS IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. THIS GOT ME WONDERING IF THIS WAS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. SO, I FOUND A NISSAN ONLINE CLUB OF OWNERS REPORTING SEAT FAILURES. I HAVE BEEN TRACKING THIS FOR MONTHS AND NOW HAVE GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT DESERVES REPORTING AND NHTSA ATTENTION. FORTUNATELY, MY REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY SANS A $50 DEDUCTIBLE. BUT, CONSISTENT WITH ALL THESE POSTINGS, THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THIS IS TYPICALLY A $700 REPAIR. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD AND EARLIER THIS YEAR THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS STARTED TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH. MY WIFE IS 5'2 AND I AM 6'2 SO THERE IS A NEED TO MOVE THE POWER SEAT REGULARLY. THE SEAT NOW SITS SLIGHTLY LEFT TO RIGHT OR RIGHT TO LEFT. THE NISSAN MURANO FORUM HAS INDICATED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE 2003 EDITION AND STILL CONTINUES TO BE. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO IT WOULD BE A $1000 REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND APPARENTLY CAUSED BY THE SEAT BASE METAL BREAKING. 2005 NISSAN MURANO WITH 56,735 MILES BEGAN MAKING A NOISE AT ACCELERATION. BROUGHT CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT A NEW PULLEY ASM AND BRACKET-ID WAS NEEDED. MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE I-10 WHEN HE SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND THE SEAT WAS SUDDENLY LOPSIDED. I THEREFORE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO SEE ABOUT HAVING IT REPAIRED AND IF MY WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT. I WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS AND LABOR WOULD COST $846, I ALSO HAD TO PAY THE $90 WHETHER OR NOT I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT REPAIRED.
