THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WAS THE INVOLUNTARY LOCKING OF ALL DOORS WITHOUT MY INVOLVEMENT WHENEVER I PARKED THE CAR SOMEWHERE. THIS PROVED VERY INCONVENIENT AT TIMES WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE MY CAR KEYS WITH ME. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS ONLY TO TELL ME THEY COULD NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY DIDN'T EVEN OFFER TO CONTACT NISSAN WITH THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, MY FRONT SEAT SUDDENLY BROKE PITTING ME TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. SEAT WAS LEANING TOWARD THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2007 BROUGHT MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO TO THE NISSAN DEALER LOCATED IN MORRISTOWN, NJ (OPEN ROAD NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT). I WAS TOLD THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKE. IN ORDER TO FIX THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT FRAME OF THE VEHICLE, THE COST TO WOULD BE $900 PLUS DOLLARS. WHAT IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT - THIS SEAT MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR TO SERIOUS INJURY. WHY IS A SEAT FRAME BREAKING ON A VEHICLE WITH 48,500 MILES - NOT YET THREE YEARS OLD. I KEEP MY CARS FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS AND NO VEHICLE I EVER OWNED DID A SEAT JUST BREAK. SEEMS TO ME THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED ON NISSAN MURANOS. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DETACHED FROM THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT SEAT SHOULD BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT PROVIDE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AS OF NOVEMBER 9, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
FAILURE OF FUEL TANK THAT HAD A SAFETY RECALL - AFTER INSTALLING THE GUARD ON TANK TANK STILL SPLIT OPEN CAUSING GAS TO GO ALL OVER THE ROAD WE COULD HAVE DIED. DEFECTIVE DESIGN WITH TANK ON BOTTOM OF VEHICLE DANGEROUS CLOSE TO ROAD. *JB
DRIVERS SEAT ROCKS TO THE LEFT. WAS INFORMED BY JIM MILLS NISSAN THAT THE SEAT TRACK WAS BAD, $716 TO REPLACE. NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS WAS ON AUG.22, 2007. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN. NOW WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DRIVERS SIDE SUNVISOR FALLING DOWN WHILE YOUR DRIVING AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK NOT SECURING ALL THE WAY. THE LOCK MECHANISM WILL GO PART OF THE WAY AND STOP. ALL OF THE ITEMS ABOVE ARE SAFETY ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN. YES, I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT IS OFF TRACK. THE SEAT HAS AN AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER AND IT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH, CAUSING INSTABILITY WHILE DRIVING. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT SHE DID NOT HAVE IT INSPECTED DUE TO THE COST. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT HER RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS WOULD NOT REMAINED CLOSED WHEN DRIVING OVER ANY UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES. ALSO, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BRACKET THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME FRACTURED, CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH ABNORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE COST OF REPLACING THE SEAT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE DRIVER SEAT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS AND THEN FORWARDS AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
THE IRON BRACKET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE SEAT IF BROKEN. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE (NISSAN MURANO 2005) SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND MORE THAT JUST 2 YEARS OF USE. I HAVE FURTHER PROOF WHERE OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO HAD PURCHASE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED I DIDN'T HAVE IT, AND IT IS NOT COVERED. I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I HAVE CONTACT AN ATTORNEY FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE. *TR
THE ACTUATOR FOR ALL OF MY DOOR IN THE 2005 NISSAN MURANO BROKE. SO WHY IS IT A SAFETY ISSUE? 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T. *TR
VEHICLE HAS ENTERED "FAIL-SAFE" MODE AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE NO LESS THAN 7 TIMES FOLLOWING "FAIL-SAFE" EVENTS. GROUND WIRE TO ECM SVC BULLETIN WAS COMPLETED. RECALLED ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED (AFTER 4TH EVENT). AIRBAG SENSOR AND AIRBAG SPIRAL CABLE WERE REPLACED FOLLOWING SEPARATE EVENTS. CURRENTLY, CARMD TOOL IS GIVING A P2135 ERROR CODE, AND STATES THAT LATEST EVENT WAS CAUSED BY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH AND/OR AN "A" /"B" ELECTRICAL VOLTAGE CORRELATION ERROR. ALL "FAIL-SAFE" MODE EVENTS OCCURRED DURING HIGH-SPEED (55-65 MPH) TRAFFIC ON MULTI-LANE HIGHWAYS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE LATEST EVENT. THREE TIMES, ENTRY INTO "FAIL-SAFE" MODE CREATED EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS AND NEAR-ACCIDENTS. EACH TIME, AFTER THE IGNITION WAS SWITCHED OFF, THE VEHICLE HAS RESTARTED IN NORMAL OPERATING MODE, BUT THE MIL CAME ON AND STAYED ON UNTIL VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY DEALERSHIP. *TR
NISSAN MURANO'05 SL. DRIVER SEAT TRACK BROKE. CAR IS 2.5 YEAR OLD AND 41,000 MILES. SEAT GOT BROKEN WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. $377 REPAIR AND PARTS. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BRACKET BROKE. JUST CRACKED. IT APPEARS SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. CONCERN ABOUT THE INTEGRITY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
APRIL 2006 - AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHING. PROBLEM RECURRED 5 TIMES BEFORE DEALERSHIP REPLACEMENT OF AIR BAG SENSOR AND DIAGNOSTIC UNIT IN JULY 2005. *AK JUNE 2007 - AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHING. TESTED AND FOUND INTERMITTENT SHORT IN DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG. REPLACED ON JUNE 7, 2007. PROBLEM RECURRED ON JUNE 8, 2007. UPON BRINGING VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, THEY INDICATED THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND I SHOULD BRING THE VEHICLE IN WITHOUT TURNING IT OFF IF LIGHT STARTS FLASHING AGAIN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN OVER ANY BUMPS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE FALLS INTO THE CONTACT'S VIEW OF THE ROAD. THE VISOR CAN ONLY BE PUT IN THE UP POSITION OR THE DOWN POSITION, AND THE LEVEL CANNOT BE ADJUSTED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE SUN VISORS REFUSE TO STAY UP WHILE DRIVING AND MAKE DRIVING UNSAFE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHEN THE CONTACT SAT DOWN IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, THE SEAT EXTENDED TO THE BACK SEAT INADVERTENTLY. HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE SEAT FRAME FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,524.
DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE OFF SEAT TRACK. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A DEFECT. ALSO, TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE SEAT TRACK WAS BROKE AND IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE TRACK.
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS REPAIRED. THE RECALL WAS ON A GAS TANK PROTECTOR. THE SAFETY RECALL REPAIR DID NOT KEEP SOMETHING FROM FLYING UP INTO THE CONTACT'S GAS TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, THE TIRE KICKED SOMETHING BACK INTO THE GAS TANK. THE CONTACT LATER FOUND THAT THE GAS TANK HAD BEEN PUNCTURED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, AND THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WER BOTH 16800 MILES. *AK
I WAS DRIVING AND HIT A SMALL BUMP AND THE DRIVERS SEAT BROKE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* - WHILE DRIVING THE 2005 NISSAN MURANO AT 55 MPH ANOTHER DRIVER CUT HER OFF, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH. IN AN ATTEMPT TO APPLY THE BRAKES THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE SPUN INTO A MEDIAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS DIDN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY AND WAS A SAFETY RISK. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET DUE TO THE RAIN. THE CURRENT VEHICLE AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 33,000. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES IN THE CRASH. *AK
DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR IN TO APPROXIMATELY 16 TIMES TO 7 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS IN FOUR DIFFERENT STATES. THEY SAID THEY REPLACED DIFFERENT PARTS EACH TIME BUT WITHIN FOUR TO SIX WEEKS THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. THE LAST DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO IN COLUMBIA TN SAID THAT NISSAN HAD TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THE FRONT WIRING HARNESS BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO IT. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE THEM TOO LONG AND DID NOT WANT TO DO IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWELVE TIMES DUE TO THE FAILURE AND THEY ONLY PERFORMED A TEMPORARY REMEDY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR STOPPED HOLDING ITS POSITION. AT FIRST WE COULD GET IT TO STAY IN THE UP POSITION; IT JUST WOULDN'T STAY SET IN MID POSITION...IT WAS EITHER ALL THE WAY UP OR ALL THE WAY DOWN. A FEW MONTHS AGO (NOW 80,000 MILES) THE VISOR SLIPS OUT OF THE UP POSITION AND GOES TO THE FULL DOWN POSITION WHEN GOING OVER A BIG BUMP OR AT OTHER RANDOM TIMES. THE MURANO DOESN'T HAVE MUCH HEAD CLEARANCE IN THE FIRST PLACE, SO THE DROPPED VISOR COMPLETELY OBSCURES VISION. FROM OTHER DISCUSSION PAGES ON THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
SUN VISORS ON 2005 NISSAN MURANO KEEPS FALLING DOWN. SUN VISORS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE KEEP FALLING DOWN, AND WILL NOT STAY UP. I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WANTS $350.00 DOLLARS PER SUN VISORS ($700 PLUS TAX) FOR THE REPLACEMENTS. THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD AND NISSAN SHOULD NOT CHARGE THESE RIDICULOUS PRICES FOR REPLACEMENT OF THEIR FAULTY PARTS. *TR
THE LED TAIL LIGHTS ON THE NISSAN MURANO STROBE AT A VERY HIGH FREQUENCY. MY VISUAL ACUITY SEES THIS STROBE EFFECT AS TRAILS OF LIGHT FROM THE TAIL LIGHTS. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN SEEN AT A DISTANCE AT THE LIGHT TRAILS OBSCURE OTHER OBJECTS. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON A CLEAR SKY DAY WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE CAR FLIPPLED OVER AND IT WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 06V401000. *AK THE CONSUMER HAS PROVIDED A COPY OF A CONSUMER'S REPORT AND USED CAR BUYING GUIDE IN 2007, HOWEVER THE INFORMATION DOES STATE 2003 AND 2004 MODELS AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN 2005 MODELS. ON THE DATE LISTED, WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC FLOW FROM A PARKING LOT, MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND ENTER THE "FAIL SAFE" (LIMP HOME) MODE WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD NO ACCELERATION. THIS WAS A SUDDEN FAILURE AND THERE HAD BEEN NOR WERE THERE ANY INDICATIONS OF ANY DEVELOPING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT WAS THE MIL AND THE PHYSICAL LOSS OF POWER. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A T-BONE COLLISION SINCE THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS APPROACHING AT 50 MPH AND THERE WAS VIRTUALLY NO RIGHT HAND EMERGENCY PULL-OFF AREA ON THE ROADWAY TO SAFELY PLACE THE VEHICLE OUTSIDE TRAVEL LANES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR UNDER WARRANTY REPAIR. THIS REPAIR TOOK LESS THAN AN HOUR AND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS DESCRIBE TO ME AS A DIRTY OR LOOSE ELECTRICAL GROUND TO THE ECM. *JB
DRIVER'S SUNVISOR IN 2005 NISSAN MURANO RANDOMLY FALLS DOWN WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. SERIOUS MANUFACTURING OR INSTALLATION DEFECT. SINCE WARRANTY IS UP DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE FOR FREE. QUOTED $370.00 FOR LABOR + COST OF PART. WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PERSUADE DEALER TO REPLACE PART 3 YEARS LATER. (TODAY AS A MATTER OF FACT). HAD TO THREATEN TO GET LOCAL NEWS INVOLVED. OTHERS ON MESSAGE BOARDS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MAJOR DEFECT AS MANY LIVES COULD BE IN JEOPARDY. I ALMOST WAS IN 2 SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE VISOR JUST RANDOMLY FALLING WHILE DRIVING. THANK GOODNESS FOR BRAKES BECAUSE I AND MY KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER TRAFFIC FATALITY STATISTIC. *TR
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY NISSAN MURANO FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS WITH A BROKEN SEAT . I FILE A COMPLAIN THREE YEARS AGO. EVERYBODY THAT I KNOW WHO OWNS A NISSAN MURANO HAS THE DRIVERS SEAT BROKE. I HAVE BEEN READING A LOT OF COMPLAINS ABOUT THESE PROBLEM AND THE ODI HAS NOT ISSUE A RECALL. HOW MUCH IS NISSAN CORPORATION GIVING TO NOT DO A RECALL?; IM SURE THAT IF THE NISSAN MURANO OWNERS GET TOGETHER WE CAN COLLECT MORE MONEY TO MAKE ODI TO DO A RECALL THESE IS RIDICULOUS. 2005 MURANO SUN VISORS BROKE AND FELL HALF WAY DOWN BLOCKING SOME OF MY DRIVING VIEW. THEY WANT OVER $325.00 FOR A NEW ONE TIMES 2 = $650.00 WITHOUT ANY ASSURANCE THAT REPLACEMENTS WILL NOT DO THE SAME. THE ONLY ANSWER I GET IS OUT OF WARRANTY. OUR 2005 NISSAN MURANO WHICH WAS UNDER ONE YEAR WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF ENGINE PROBLEM STARTED THE FAILURE BY EMITTING UNUSUAL SMOKE FROM THE MUFFLER AND UNEXPLAINED SUDDEN SHAKING OF THE ENGINE WHEN ENGINE IS ON WHILE THE CAR STANDING. WE DROVE OUR NISSAN MURANO TO THE DEALER WORKSHOP NEXT DAY. AT ARRIVAL OF THE WORKSHOP THE SERVICE MECHANIC BROUGHT HIS COMPUTERIZED HANDHELD INVESTIGATOR AND CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHICH IS LOCATED JUST UNDER THE STEERING AND STARTED THE ENGINE. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A HUGE PILE OF THICK BLACK SMOKE RISING FROM THE BOTH MUFFLER OUTLETS. FROM THAT POINT OUR NISSAN MURANO WAS ADMITTED FOR INVESTIGATION ( SINCE END OF AUGUST 2006 ). THE DEALER REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE WARRANTY PERIOD AND INSISTED THAT ANY REPAIR TO BE MADE AT OUR EXPENSE. AFTER ALL POSSIBLE EFFORT TO CONVINCE THE NISSAN DEALER HERE IN DUBAI TO STICK WITH THE WARRANTY PERIOD, FINALLY WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GO REPAIR OF OUR NISSAN MURANO AT OUR OWN EXPENSE. I INCLUDE HERE THE ESTIMATED COSTS AND DETAILS OF PARTS THAT NEEDED TO REPLACED. OUR NISSAN MURANO IS STILL IN THE DEALER WORKSHOP AND NO NEWS FROM THEM YET. *JB

TURN OFF ROADWAY, SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTART, NO ACCELERATION POWER, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHTS STILL ON - CANNOT DRIVE VEHICLE. NEXT MORNING TOWED TO DEALERSHIP; REPORT IS A CODE U1000 - ELECTRICAL AND GROUND WIRE PROBLEM. TSB PROCEDURE FOLLOWED BASED ON THE CODE. HOWEVER, TSB SAYS IT APPLIES TO THE CODE ONLY WHEN NO MALFUNCTION INDICATORS LIGHTS ARE ON. THEREFORE, I DO NOT BELIEVE PROBLEM IS FIXED. ALSO, SINCE THEN A VIBRATION IS DETECTED THROUGH THE GAS PEDAL WHEN ACCELERATING. SERVICE MANAGER AND TECH TEST DROVE AND STATED THERE WAS SOMETHING DETECTED BUT NO FIX SINCE THERE IS NO TSB FOR THIS KIND OF PROBLEM.

THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR CAME LOSE AND HAS NOW COMPLETELY FALLEN OFF MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. AT FIRST THE ISSUE WAS I COULD NOT SEE BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT STAY UP AND NOW ITS STILL AND ISSUE BECAUSE IT CAME OFF AND I CAN'T BLOCK THE SUN WHEN I AM DRIVING. 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS HAVE BOTH CRACKED IN LESS THAN 15,000 MILES. NISSAN SAYS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE DUE TO THE BRAKE WARRANTY BEING 12,500 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABUSED OR DRIVEN HARSHLY. THIS IS MY FAMILY CAR, IT IS TREATED WITH MUCH RESPECT. *NM

I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO SL [XXX] AND DUE TO RECALL NUMBER 06V048000, I TOOK IN MY VEHICLE TO HAVE THE GAS TANK SHIELD AND SAFETY BELT WEBBING INSTALLED TO ST CHARLES NISSAN INC, ST PETERS, MO (NISSAN DEALER NO. SCN). UPON MY VEHICLE'S RETURN, I FIND THERE IS NO 2ND ROW LH SEAT BELT CLIP FOR ME TO INSERT EITHER THE 2ND ROW LH SEAT BELT OR MY CHILD SEAT SECURING HARNESS INTO. THERE WERE 3 CLIPS PRIOR TO MY TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP - ONE FOR 2ND ROW RH, ONE IN THE MIDDLE AND ONE FOR 2ND ROW LH. NOW THERE ARE ONLY 2 AND I CAN SEE VISIBLE SIGNS OF THE LH SEAT BELT CLIP HAVING BEING CUT OFF FROM THE SEAT. THIS PREVENTS ME FROM ATTACHING MY CHILD SEAT FOR LH REAR PASSENGER TO USE A SEAT BELT. WHILE ON A MAJOR ROAD WITH FOR OUR FAMILY VACATION, OUR MURANO EXPERIENCED A COMPONENT FAILURE. SPECIFICALLY, OUR ROAD TRIP ORIGINATED FROM CENTRAL NEW JERSEY WITH SEVERAL DESTINATIONS SCHEDULED FOR SEVERAL CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN FLORIDA LOCATIONS. ALL WAS NORMAL UNTIL OUR JOURNEY FROM MIAMI TO DEBARY, FL WHERE SLIGHT INDICATORS OF A MALFUNCTION BEGAN TO MANIFEST ITSELF. WHILE CRUISING ON INTERSTATE 95 BETWEEN WEST PALM BEACH AND TITUSVILLE, THE CRUISE CONTROL SPONTANEOUSLY DISENGAGED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RE-ENGAGE THE SYSTEM YIELDED THE SAME RESULTS, I INITIALLY DETERMINED THAT THERE MAY BE AN INHERENT DIFFERENCE IN THE MURANO'S CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM VERSUS OTHER CARS I'VE DRIVEN/OWNED AND DECIDED THAT I WOULD LOOK INTO IT AT A LATER TIME. LATER IN THIS SAME TRIP (SPECIFICALLY BETWEEN TITUSVILLE AND SANFORD FLORIDA), I WAS ON A DESOLATE ROAD (ROUTE 46) WHEN THE MURANO'S 'SERVICE ENGINE' LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND IT SEEM TO BE STUCK IN 2ND GEAR. NOTE: THE MURANO HAS A BELT DRIVEN CVT AND NOT A CONVENTIONAL GEAR BOX; NEVERTHELESS, THIS WAS THE MANNER IN WHICH THE PROBLEM CAN BE CHARACTERIZED. MAKING MATTERS WORST WAS THE FACT THAT IT WAS 12:30AM AND ROUTE 46 IS SPARSELY TRAVELED, WITH NO SIGNS OF "CIVILIZATION". (NOT MEANT TO MELODRAMATIC.) FORTUNATELY, I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE MURANO (AT NO GREATER THAN 40MPH @ 4,000RPM) TO OUR INTENDED DESTINATION. ON THE FOLLOWING MORNING, I BROUGHT MY MURANO TO DELAND NISSAN WHERE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PROMPTLY DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ACCORDINGLY. FORTUNATELY, THE PART WAS IN STOCK AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN LESS THAN 2 HOURS. THE RECALL INDICATED THAT A FITTING FOR VAPOR RECIRCULATION, WHICH IS WELDED ON THE FUEL TANK, MAY COME OFF THE FUEL TANK BECAUSE INCORRECT MATERIAL WAS USED. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE PART TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. *NM

TODAY WHILE OUT OF TOWN WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO REFILL OUR 2005 NISSAN MURANO. AFTER I HAD GOT BEYOND THE HALF FULL POINT SOMEONE AT THE GAS STATION POINTED OUT THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING LEAKING FROM OUR VEHICLE. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION BY MYSELF AND THEN A MECHANIC AT THE SERVICE STATION IT WAS NOTED TO HAVE A HOLE IN THE GAS TANK. I AM UNSURE WHAT CAUSED THIS HOLE TO OCCUR BEING THAT WE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING ACTUALLY HIT THE VEHICLE. NOT ONLY DID THIS PUT A DAMPER ON OUR WEEKEND GETAWAY BUT WE ALSO FOUND OUT HOW LITTLE COVERAGE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROVIDED TO US, WHICH WAS A SHOCK SINCE WE WERE VERY PRESSURED INTO BUYING THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WERE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE COVERED AND ALSO THAT WE WOULD HAVE 24 HOUR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. AFTER CONTACTING THE NISSAN 24HR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WE LEARNED THAT WE HAD NO COVERAGE. *JB
