DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE IDLED, IT STALLED. AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND OTHER INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATE. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THE PROBLEM RETURNED LESS THAN A MONTH LATER. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP.
I PURCHASED MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO IN NOV 2005. ON FEB 24, 2006, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS FLASHING. THEY "ERASED ALL DTC'S AND RETESTED THE SYSTEM." IN MARCH 2006, I RETURNED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THAT TIME, THEY REPLACED THE DRIVER AIRBAG MODULE, SPIRAL CABLE, AND DIAGNOSTIC SENSOR. IT WAS OK FOR A YEAR, BUT THEN STARTED FLASHING AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK ON OCT. 12, 2007. THEY REMOVED AND REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG MODULE (AGAIN). THREE DAYS LATER, IT STARTED FLASHING AGAIN. I WASN'T ABLE TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN UNTIL MARCH 21, 2008. AT THAT TIME, THEY REPLACED THE APIRAL CABLE (AGAIN) AND INFORMED ME THAT IT MIGHT NOT BE FIXED BUT, ACCORDING TO NISSAN PROTOCOL, THAT'S ALL THEY COULD DO. IF IT STARTS FLASHING AGAIN, THEY CAN REPLACE THE NEXT PART. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE NO MORE OF AN IDEA TODAY THAT MY VEHICLE IS SAFE THAN I HAVE EVER HAD. EVEN IF I TAKE IT IN A 5TH OR 6TH TIME, HOW CAN I BE SURE IT WILL WORK IF AND WHEN I NEED IT? IN THE VERY BEGINNING, THEY DID REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT, AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. I NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN NISSAN'S SAFETY PROTOCOLS. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO PURCHASED MAY 2005~ 13,000 MILES: I WAS IN PROCESS OF A Y TURN. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK UP, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE IN MADE AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE FORWARD. THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. THINKING MAYBE I MIGHT BE ON SOMETHING, I PUT CAR IN PARK, GOT OUT AND LOOKED AROUND AND UNDERNEATH MY WHEELS. NOTHING. GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND TRIED TO BACK UP AGAIN. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I GOT OUT, STOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND LOOKED AT IT. I COULD READILY SEE THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WAS TURNED IN THE DIRECTION THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SINCE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF A Y TURN. HOWEVER, THE RIGHT WHEEL WAS FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I KNEW THIS CAR WASN'T GOING NO WHERE. BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME I DID NOT GET HOW THAT COULD SUDDENLY BE. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. THE PAVEMENT WAS FLAT. NO CURBS, NO NOTHING IN THE WAY! I WAS STUCK BLOCKING MY CUL DU SAC. I CALLED THE DEALER. I TALKED TO A GUY IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I TOLD HIM WHAT THE SITUATION WAS. HE SAID, "IT SOUNDS LIKE TIE RODS ARE SHOT." I SAID, "ON A NEW CAR?" HE SAID, I WILL CALL THE TOW DRIVER. THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE UNDERNEATH OR ANYWHERE ON THE VEHICLE TO INDICATE I HIT ANYTHING OR THAT ANYTHING HIT ME. I DID NOT RUN OVER OR HIT ANYTHING. I WAS JUST IN THE PROCESS OF A Y TURN. THE TOW DRIVER ARRIVED. HE WALKED AROUND THE VEHICLE AS I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE SAID, "THIS IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM!" AS THE CAR WAS BEING PULLED ONTO THE FLATBED TRAILER TOW, I CRINGED, COVERING MY FACE FROM THE NOISE OF METAL CRUSHING AND BENDING. I KNEW WHATEVER WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR WAS NOW ENHANCED BY THE TOW. IT IS DEFINITELY THE TIE ROD. THE DAMAGE IS $5,000.00. THE RESULT, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID I HIT SOMETHING AND NISSAN WON'T PAY. I KNOW IT IS A PARTS FAILURE OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. MY CAR IS ON RACK AT DEALER NOW SO ANY ASAP INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *NM
43 DEGREES, 5 PM, 1561 MILES, 2005 NISSAN MURANO SL I START VEHICLE, BACK UP, PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY, CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. MAX SPEED OBTAINABLE 20 MPH, VERY, VERY SLOW TO GET ANY SPEED. ENGINE WILL REV TO 2500 RPM, WHEN FLOORED, NO ACCELERATION, RETURN HOME. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON SLIP OFF LIGHT ON VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL LIGHT ON PARK VEHICLE AND AND TRY RESTARTING SEVERAL TIMES, CAR STARTS OK, ABOVE THREE LIGHTS COME ON EACH TIME. DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE AGAIN THAT DAY. SAT. EVENING, NO DEALER OPEN. TRY AGAIN SUNDAY, 55 DEGREES, STARTS OK AND ONLY SES LIGHT COMES ON, DRIVES, OK CALL JEFF SMITH NISSAN WARNER ROBINS GA ON MONDAY. SAYS BRING CAR IN. DEALER STATES CAR IS IN "LIMP MODE". THEY KEEP A WEEK. FINDINGS: DTC CODE U1000 CAN COMM CIRCUIT, C1132 ABS CHECK ABS-OK TECHLINE REF #755136 APPLY TSB NTB06-009 DATED FEB 8, 2006 SEEMS OK, NOW. I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IF I HAD BEEN PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC. *NM
VEHICLE LOCKING MECHANISMS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I PURCHASED MY MURANO BRAND NEW AND EVEN THEN IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK COVER OPERATION. IT WOULD WORK BACKWARDS: WHEN YOU LOCK THE VEHICLE IT WOULD OPEN AND VICE VERSA. THEN THE BACK LOCKS STOPPED FUNCTIONING IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE KEY FOB AND THE DRIVER'S CONTROL. LATER IT BECAME AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. NOW BOTH OF THE REAR DOOR LOCKS CAN ONLY BE CONTROLLED MANUALLY. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAS STARTED TO DO THE SAME. I'VE ALSO BEEN LOCKED OUT OF MY TRUNK. I BOUGHT GROCERIES AND WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE TRUNK FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THERE IS NO CONTROL ON THE INSIDE TO OPEN IT EITHER. IN ORDER TO USE THE DOORS AND THEIR LOCKS ACCESS HAS TO BE GAINED FROM OTHER DOORS. IF THE TRUNK LOCKS ITSELF IT BECOMES USELESS AS I CANNOT ACCESS IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT I NEED TO BE ABLE TO OPEN AND CLOSE MY TRUNK IF NEEDED. WHEN THE PROBLEM INITIALLY OCCURRED I WAS UNAWARE AS THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS. I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL MY YOUNG SON WHO RIDES IN THE BACK SEAT COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR WHEN I UNLOCKED IT. I HAVE HAD PERSONAL ITEMS STOLEN FROM MY VEHICLE THAT I ASSUMED WAS LOCKED USING THE KEY FOB. STRANGERS CAN ACCESS VEHICLES AND OWNERS WILL BE UNAWARE. THIS IS A SCARY THOUGHT. *TR
IN 2013 I HAD TO HAVE MY DRIVER SEAT BRACKET WELDED DUE TO IT BREAKING. MY AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASH CONTINUOUSLY SINCE ABOUT 2006 AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR, ALSO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN GOES OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT COULD BE SEVERAL THINGS FROM CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO AN EXHAUST ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD BE TRIAL AND ERROR TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WOULD REMY THE PROBLEM. NOT TO MENTION MY DRIVER SIDE VISOR WONT STAY UP AND MY ALTERNATOR KEEPS DRAINING MY BATTERY SO I HAVE TO REPLACE YEARLY. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. *TR
DT: CONTACTS STATED WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN THE HIGHWAY THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WILL GO TO THE RIGHT. THE STEERING WHEEL ITSELF IS 15 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLES REAR WHEEL ON DRIVER'S SIDE WILL POINT TOWARD THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE ROADS CONDITIONS ARE WITH SNOW OR ICE. THERE IS NO PRIOR WARNING. THERE IS A NOISE WHEN APPLYING THE FRONT BRAKES. HE CONTACTED THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THEY OFFERED NO FREE REMEDY. *AK
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT HAS COME OFF THE TRACK ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION, THE SEAT NOW LIFTS ON THE REAR LEFT SIDE WHICH IS UNSAFE AND UNSTABLE WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE READ FORUMS ON THE INTERNET AND I SEE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY NISSAN MURANO OWNERS CAUSING ME TO REPORT THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING SOUTH BOUND ON HWY 95 NEEDLES CALIFORNIA IN A 35 MPH ZONE APIECE OF DEBRIS (POSSIBLY VEHICLE FENDER MOLDING STRIP) STRUCK THE GAS TANK OF OUR 2005 NISSAN MURANO CAUSING THE TANK TO RUPTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COPPER CANYON NISSAN (LAKE HAVASUE AZ) WHERE THE TANK WILL BE REPLACED. THE COST FOR REPLACEMENT WILL EXCEED $750.00, NOT INCLUDING LOSS OF FUEL. MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME IS NINE MONTHS PREGNANT AND UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE AT HER WORK LOCATION WAS INFORMED OF THE LEAK. THE POSSIBLE HAZARDS WITH THIS ARE TREMENDOUS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED SO THEY COULD PLACE QUICK SPILL CLEAN UP DUE TO THE FUEL LEAKING ON, AND RUNNING DOWN THE STREET. THE TANKS RUPTURE WAS CATASTROPHIC CAUSING THE FUEL LEAK TO BE EXCESSIVE AND FROM MULTIPLE HOLES. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR INCREASED THE HOLE TO RELEASE THE REST OF THE FUEL FOR TRANSPORTATION. HE (TOW DRIVER) STATED THAT THE RUPTURE WAS SIGNIFICANT AND DANGEROUS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE NHTSA FINDING AND STATEMENT ON 9-21-05 (RE: OPENING INVESTIGATION INTO MURANO TANK LEAKS FROM ROAD DEBRIS) AT WHICH TIME THEY STATED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF SUCH A PROBLEM BUT WOULD CONTACT NISSAN. I WILL ALSO BE FOLLOWING UP A COMPLAINT TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS POSSIBLE HAZARD. *JB
I BOUGHT A NEW 2005 NISSAN MURANO ON 8/8/05. ON 10/31/05, I HIT DEBRIS ON I-95. IT PUNCTURED MY FUEL TANK AND GASOLINE LEAKED FROM IT. I HAD TO CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO DISPOSE THE GASOLINE. I FILED A COMPLAIN WITH NISSAN CORPORATION. THEY REFUSED TO COMPENSATE ME FOR THE DAMAGE. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A NEW FUEL TANK MYSELF. *NM
GASOLINE TANK PUNCTURED WHILE DRIVING NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS - BY DEBRIS IN THE ROAD. BOTH GASOLINE AND RADIATOR FLUID SPILLED FROM MY CAR. *NM
MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN IN THE UP POSITION. WHEN VEHICLE WENT IN @ 30 DAYS OR SO, I REPORTED THIS WITH SOME OTHER MINOR NEEDED REPAIRS. IT WAS THE DEALERSHIP ON PEARL RD., ROUTE 42 IN BRUNSWICK THAT ALSO HANDLED SUBARU'S. IT WAS ORIGINALLY A LEASED VEHICLE UNDER ALLIED LEASING. I REPORTED PROBLEM AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 24 MONTHS. THEN - I REPORTED IT AGAIN WHEN CAR WENT IN FOR SERVICE IN JANUARY OF 2011. VISOR NO LONGER ADJUSTABLE - WON'T REMAIN IN UP POSITION - FLOPS DOWN IN FRONT OF YOUR EYE BLOCKING VISION CONSTANTLY. REPLACEMENT ESTIMATE FROM DEALER $300-$400 FOR PART EVEN IF WE INSTALL OURSELVES! IMPORTANT - REPEATING PROBLEM BACK TO 1996 SENTRAS. MANY COMPLAINTS FOUND ON THE INTERNET! NISSAN REFUSED TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AS WELL AS POST WARRANTY! YOU ARE EITHER TRYING TO SEE UNDERNEATH IT...SWING IT TO THE SIDE OUT OF THE WAY - BUT THEN YOUR EYES HAVE NO PROTECTION AGAINST BLINDING SUNLIGHT! NOT ONLY DANGEROUS - BUT UNCOMFORTABLE AND INCONVENIENT. I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING IF VISOR WAS REASONABLY PRICED - BUT NISSAN PRICES IT OBSCENELY!
I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER SPRAY NOZZLE DOES NOT DIRECT THE FLUID PROPERLY ON THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SPRAYING THE WASHER FLUID IT HITS VERY LOW ON THE WINDSHIELD AND DOES NOT ALLOW ANY FLUID TO THE UPPER HALF THE GLASS. IN FACT IT WILL HIT THE WIPER ARM FIRST AND THIS THEN BLOCKS ANY ADDITIONAL FLUID TO HIT DURING THE FIRST PASS. ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING OBSERVATIONS. THAT WHEN YOU DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE AIR FLOW OVER THE HOOD DIRECTS THE FLUID TO THE LOWER HALF ON BOTH SIDES. THIS IS DANGEROUS DURING WINTER DRIVING WITH SNOW AND ICE FALLING AND ON THE ROAD. PLACEMENT OF THE NOZZLES ARE IN THE WRONG LOCATION. THEY GET BLOCKED BY SNOW AND ICE. THIS ALSO BECOMES A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY SAID NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. ''THE NOZZLES CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED''. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY COMPLAINTS YOU HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT THIS SITUATION BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON VARIOUS WEB FORUMS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE STRONG GAS FUMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE GAS FUMES WOULD FILL THE GARAGE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SMELL GAS FUMES CONTINUED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM IN APRIL 2006. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE DEALER ALSO ADDED FUEL TANK PROTECTORS. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO SMELL GAS FUMES. IN JANUARY 2007, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE GAS FUMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE EVAPORATOR CANISTER BECAUSE THEY FOUND GAS IN IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE REASON FOR THE GAS FUMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE RETURNED HOME SHE SAW SOME TYPE OF TAR SEALANT AROUND THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY. THE DEALER DID NOT INFORM HER OF THIS. THE CONTACT STATED THE GAS FUMES WERE NOW WORSE. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE. THE CONTACT STATED THE GAS FUMES WERE MAKING HER ILL. *AK
REGARDING THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION OF A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL TANK OF THE NISSAN MURANO WHERE THE FUEL TANK IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO PUNCTURES FROM ROAD DEBRIS DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. ON AUG 27TH, 2005 WHILE DRIVING FROM FLORIDA TO TORONTO ON HIGHWAY I-95 A PIECE OF DEBRIS ON THE ROAD HIT A LOWER CORNER OF THE GAS TANK OF MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO, MAKING A CRACK IN THAT SPOT. I NOTICED THE GAS LEVEL DROPPING FAST AND PULLED OVER 2 TO 3 MILES AHEAD AT EXIT 53, WALTERBORO, SC AND VERIFIED THE GAS TANK WAS PUNCTURED. I CALLED THE NISSAN ROADSIDE SERVICE, THEY ADVISED TO CALL THE LOCAL POLICE TO GET A REPORT AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ENSURE THE CAR WAS SAFE FOR TOWING. NOBODY WAS INJURED. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP IN ORANGEBURG, SC THE NEXT MONDAY WHERE THEY ORDERED A TANK. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, EXPLAINED EVERYTHING, THEY OPENED A CASE TO HELP SPEED UP THE SHIPMENT OF THE TANK. THEY HAVE A RECORD OF THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS READY ON AUG 31ST, 2005. I HAVE A CLAIM NUMBER FROM NISSAN ROADSIDE SERVICE. ANOTHER INTERESTING THING IS THAT WHEN I GOT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP, A MONTH BEFORE THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT, ON JULY 23RD, 2005, IT HAD A LEAK IN THE GAS TANK. IT STARTED WITH A SMELL OF GAS AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" INDICATOR LIT AT ALL THE TIMES. THAT HAPPENED WITHIN A DAY OF GETTING THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TANK, THE SMELL WAS GONE, BUT NOT THE PROBLEM WITH THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" INDICATOR. AFTER A NUMBER OF EMISSION TESTS THEY ALSO REPLACED A VALVE IN THE EXHAUST CONDUCT THAT RUNS FROM THE GAS TANK TO THE CAR EXHAUST. AFTER THAT THE INDICATOR CAME BACK ON, SO THEY REPLACED THE CAR COMPUTER. THIS TIME THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED, OR AT LEAST IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT'S FAIR TO SAY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PEOPLE WERE VERY HELPFUL AND NOTIFIED NISSAN RIGHT AWAY TO GET THEM INVOLVE SINCE THE START. *NM
MY 6-MONTH PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR NEW MURANO WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE CAR'S SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND THE CAR WOULDN'T GO BEYOND A FEW MILES AN HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE. ALTHOUGH SHE MADE IT HOME SAFE, WHEN WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. SINCE THEIR COMPUTER DIDNT RECOGNIZE A PROBLEM, THE TECHNICIAN WOULDNT LOOK AT IT. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN TO US AND WHEN WE TOOK IT IN AGAIN THE DEALER SEEMED IGNORANT OF THE RECALL. WE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN BETWEEN INCIDENTS AND COULDNT GET AN APPT RIGHT AWAY. WHEN I SHOWED HIM THE FORM, HE SAID THAT THE ALTERNATOR PROBABLY DIDNT NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THEY'D LOOK AT IT. IT'S FRUSTRATING THAT WE HAVE TO FIGHT SO MUCH TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED.
DT: THE CALLER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE HEADLIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CALLER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR, AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT. 10 DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE CALLER HAD A CLOSE CALL. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO WHICH IS TWO WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE CTV TRANSMISSION. WE WERE COMING BACK FROM VACATION FROM COLORADO WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED. SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE TRIP WHEN WE WERE COMING DOWN A HILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR WOULD TRY TO MAINTAIN THE SELECTED SPEED HOWEVER IF THE HILL WAS A LITTLE TO BIG IT WOULD TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL IT SELF. WE WERE JUST SOUTH OF SAN ANTONIO THE LAST TIME THAT IT HAD TURNED OFF THE THE CRUISE. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN IT TURNED OFF THE CRUISE IT ALSO DISABLED THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS RATHER SCARY AS WE WERE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN IT DID IT. WE WERE COMING DOWN A HILL WHEN THE CRUISE TURNED IT SELF OFF AND IN THE PROCESS THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE LANE. ALL WE COULD DO WAS TURN ON THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL AND HOPE NO ONE WOULD HIT US. ONCE WE HAD GOTTEN TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED I HAD REALIZED THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T RESPOND. I HAD PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND. I FIGURED IF I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT THAT MAYBE IT WOULD RESET WHATEVER WAS WRONG. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE WHOLE DASH LIT UP. ONE BY ONE THE LIGHTS HAD GONE OUT EXCEPT THE "SERVICE THE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT. HOWEVER THE TRANSMISSION WORKED AND HAS WORKED SINCE. BY THE TIME WE HAD GOTTEN HOME AND GOTTEN AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN TO A NISSAN DEALER THE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO THE CHARLIE CLARK NISSAN IN HARLINGEN TEXAS AND THEY HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. THE REASON THEY DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE NO HILLS AS WE LIVE IN THE VALLEY AND THERE ARE NO HILLS HERE. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD CHECKED EVERYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING WAS TO SPECIFICATION. SO NOTHING WAS ADJUSTED , OR REPLACED SO AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE AND THE NEXT TIME WE GET INTO THE HILL COUNTRY IT WILL PROBABLY ACT UP AGAIN.

HE SHOWED ME HOW THE GAS TANK DROPS DOWN AND HAS A SMOOTH UNPROTECTED SURFACE FACING FORWARD WHERE (WHAT EVER IT WAS THAT HIT THE TANK) WENT THROUGH THE PLASTIC SURFACE. I DELIVERED THE DAMAGED GAS TANK TO COLLINS NISSAN AND IT IS BEING HELD AT THERE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR FURTHER INSPECTION... FOR OVER 50 YEARS OF DRIVING , I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO ME WHILE DRIVING MANY MAKES OF CARS. AFTER PURCHASING A 05 NISSAN MURANO, A MONTH LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE AIRBAG MODULE WAS REPLACED AND SYSTEM WAS RESET. IN LATE 06 THE AIRBAG LIGHT START FLASHING AGAIN, THE DEALER RESET THE SYSTEM, WORKED FINE UNTIL OCT OF 08 AT THIS POINT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED. THEY RESET THE SYSTEM AND PULLED THE CODE FROM THE UNIT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE AKA CLOCKSPRING CABLE IS FAULTY THAT IS THE REASON WHY THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON AT RANDOM TIMES. I WAS QUOTED A LITTLE OVER $2000 FOR THE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED ASK TO TALK TO A MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. ALSO ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THAT DAY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, WHEN I CALLED THEM I WAS GIVEN THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RESET THE AIRBAG LIGHT. I ASK THE IF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL WORK IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND WAS TOLD THEY CANT GUARANTEE IT WILL BUT IT SHOULD IF THE SYSTEM IS RESET AND THE LIGHT IS NOT ON. FROM THAT DAY TO NOW I HAVE TO RESET THE SYSTEM AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT I'VE HAD IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEALS LEAKING WITH CAUSES THE OIL LEVEL TO GET LOW AND MAKES IT LOUD AND INCREASES THE RPM WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE SEAL REPLACED 3 TIMES, ONCE UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY, ONCE WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY AND JUST RECENTLY HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. AND AGAIN ASKED TO TALK TO A SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THIS SINCE ITS THE SAME PART BEING REPLACED 3 TIMES, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON VACATION, SOME DEBRIS FROM A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF OUR CAR FELL OFF AND WE DROVE OVER IT. WHEN WE STOPPED A FEW MILES DOWN THE RODE WE SMELLED GASOLINE AS SOON AS WE OPENED THE CAR DOOR. WHEN MY HUSBAND LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, HE SAW THE THERE WERE SEVERAL PUNCTURES IN THE GAS TANK. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME TO CONTAIN THE GASOLINE, AND THEN THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. THE CAR IS STILL AT A DEALERSHIP WAITING ON A NEW GAS TANK TO BE SHIPPED (EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE IS 1 MONTH FROM THE ORDER DATE). I'VE KNOWN OTHER CARS TO RUN OVER DEBRIS AND NOT HAVE THE GAS TANK PUNCTURED. IT SEEMS THAT THE GAS TANK IS MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THIS SORT OF PROBLEM. I'VE READ OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AS WELL.
