THE DRIVERS SEAT MOUNTING BRACKET FAILED AND THE SEAT FELL. APPARENTLY THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS ON THIS MODEL YEAR? I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS A DRIVER COULD LOSE CONTROL IF THE BRACKET SNAPS LIKE MINE DID. LUCKILY MINE WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT SNAPPED.
I HAVE A BROKEN SEAT TRACK THAT WHEN I STOP IT PUT ME IN TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IT WAS REPLACED ON AUGUST 19 2011 AND NISSAN PAYED $500 TOWARD THE REPLACEMENT AND NOW IT HAS BROKEN AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AS SEEN ON THE NISSAN MESSAGE BOARDS.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON JANUARY 2,2016 I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM MY SEAT AND THEN A SUDDEN DROP IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. UPON PULLING OVER I NOTICED THAT THE SEAT WAS UNATTACHED ON THE REAR LEFT SIDE. I TOOK IT TO MY REPAIR SHOP, THEY REMOVED THE SEAT TO FIND THAT THE BRACKET WAS COMPLETELY SHEARED OFF. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. HE CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS TSB'S ON THE DRIVERS SEAT BUT NO RECALL STATING THAT THERE WERE NO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT BUT THAT WAS ALL AND WAS TOLD THAT WE COULD BUY THE PARTS FROM THEM BUT THAT IT WAS ALL ON ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE IN THE VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAG STRUCK THE CONTACT IN THE FACE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT HEARD ANOTHER LOUD NOISE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT SYSTEM EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
DRIVER SEAT BACK LEFT BRACKET CONNECTED TO THE FRAME IS BROKEN. MY DRIVER SEAT NOW SWAYS BACK AND FORTH WHILE DRIVING AND IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE ON MY BACK. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. THIS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT NISSAN SHOULD FIX BY ENSURING A RECALL FOR THEIR COSTUMERS.
REAR HATCH DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK. I TOOK THEM CAR TO THE SELLING AGENCY AND WAS CHARGED APPROXIMATELY 500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE LOCK. IT WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AND THE PROBLEM AROSE AGAIN. THEY AGENCY STATED THAT THEY HAD TO CHARGE ME AN ADDITIONAL 120 DOLLARS JUST TO CHECK OUT THEIR PROBLEM. I DIDN'T PURSUE THE FIX BECAUSE I THOUGHT THEY INSPECTION FEE WAS UNWARRANTED. THEY SITUATION REMAINS.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY IN ITS PLACE. IT CAN AND DOES FALL OUT OF THE RETAINING MECHANISM, CAUSING DRIVER'S VIEW TO BE INSTANTLY OBSTRUCTED.
DRIVING DOWN HWY AND CAR STARTED JUMPING, WHINNING AND THEN CAR LOCKED UP.I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON SIDE OF HWY.I SMELLED SMOKE AND GOT OUT.CALLED WRECKER .THEY TOWED TO SHOP.. I NOW HAVE A CAR PAYMENT BUT NO CAR.ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR 4,000.00 FOR NEW TRANSMISSION.
WHEN LOCKING DOOR WITH REMOTE CONTROL,THE DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT LOCK.

THIS COMPLAINT RELATES TO A CLOSED RECALL FOR THE 2005 NISSAN MURANO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V3190. TWO MONTHS WITH THE VEHICLE AND I HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, WHERE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND DRIVE-ABILITY, BRINGING MY PASSENGERS AND MYSELF TO A HARMS WAY. I CONTRACTED AAMCO TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, ONE MONTH LATER, NISSAN USA HAD TO PROVIDE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION TO REPLACE THE ONE CHANGED ONE MONTH BEFORE. LAST MONDAY, JULY 06, 2015, WHILE DRIVING ON THE NEW JERSEY GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, THE VEHICLE PRESENTED SERIOUS TROUBLE, WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, AWD AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AS THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED, PUTTING MY WIFE, MYSELF AND OTHER VEHICLES AROUND US IN SERIOUS RISK OF ACCIDENT. I MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER AND LATER TO A NEAR BY FRIEND`S HOUSE IN THE GALLOWAY AREA. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN USA REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION, THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT AAMCO, SINCE THEY INSTALLED THE NEW TRANSMISSION. AAMCO CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT THAT, THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE ALTERNATOR THAT HEATED UP, DROPPED VOLTAGE TO 12V DC AND CAUSED THE SAFE MODE TO ENGAGE, BY MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE ON THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. NISSAN USA CLAIMS THAT THIS NHTSA CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN CLOSED, WHEN IT IS TO MY BELIEVE THAT, IT SHOULD BE RE-OPENED AND NOT ONLY ME, BUT ALSO MANY OTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNERS, THAT STILL CONFRONT SUCH FACTORY DEFECTIVE ISSUES TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO ACT FAST ENOUGH AND BRING MY VEHICLE TO SAFES WAY, WOULD ALL OTHERS BE SO LUCKY?
I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND HESITATED. I SAW THE BATTERY LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON, SO I DROVE THE CAR SLOWLY DOWN THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT, AND PARKED IT THERE. I LATER READ THAT THIS WAS COMMON ON NISSAN MURANOS, MODEL YEARS 2003 THROUGH 2007, AND A RECALL CAMPAIGN, 05V319000 WAS STARTED.

THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V319000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

ON 4/28/2005 I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T GET UP PAST 10 MPH. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AT NISSAN.COM AND FOUND OUT THERE MAY BE A WARRANTY PROGRAM FOR CVT. I BROUGHT IT IN, AND THEY VERIFIED IT AND REPLACED IT. 3 DAYS LATER MY CVT STARTED TO GIVE ME SIMILAR ISSUES AGAIN. SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THEY MAY RE WORK ON IT. NOW I GET IT BACK AND RIDE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER 2 DAYS AND NOW I HEAR A LOUD CLICKING NOISE. NOW I HAD TO GET IT TOWED BACK TO KINGS NISSAN IN BROOKLYN NY. THIS TIME THEY TELL ME IT WAS A MESSED UP TCU COMPUTER ON THE REPLACED CVT, AND NOW A TRANSFER CASE. UPON FURTHER REVIEW ONLINE. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE LIKE MY SELF GOING THROUGH THIS ISSUE AND NISSAN WONT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF IT.

ON APRIL 10, 2015 APPROXIMATELY 7:50 AM, I WAS DRIVING EAST BOUND ON SAND LAKE ROAD ORLANDO FLORIDA IN THE SLOW LANE WHEN A WHITE DODGE STRATUS SUDDENLY APPEARED OUT OF NO-WHERE TURNED INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC CAUSING ME TO HIT HIS PASSENGER SIDE OF HIS CAR. UNFORTUNATELY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I INJURED MY LEFT HAND, LEFT KNEE AS WELL AS GOT WHIPLASH. ..UPDATED 05/07/15 *BF
MY DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING WHEN USING THE REMOTE AND BUTTON DOOR LOCK CONTROLS. ALL DOORS WOULD LOCK BUT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WOULD REMAIN UNLOCKED. THE SAME WAS TRUE WHEN UNLOCKING ALL DOORS WITH REMOTE OR BUTTONS. ALL DOORS WOULD UNLOCK ACCEPT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR. THE ISSUE HAS NOW PROGRESSED TO OTHER DOORS IN THE CAR WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY INCLUDING THE REAR HATCH NOT OPENING AT ALL AND I HAVE NOT MANUAL BUTTON TO FLIP TO ALLOW THE HATCH TO OPEN. *TR

EXITING THE NEIGHBORHOOD, THE DRIVERS SEAT FELL BACKWARDS FROM UNDERNEATH THE SEAT. *TR
WHILE TURNING A CORNER THE SEAT MOUNT (DRIVER'S SIDE) BROKE CAUSING THE SEAT TO IMMEDIATELY SLANT TO THE LEFT. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY TRAVELING AT A RELATIVELY SLOW SPEED, HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, PASSING A TRUCK THIS EQUIPMENT FAILURE COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, AS I WOULD HAVE NO DOUBT BEEN DISTRACTED AND TRIED TO FIX OR ADJUST THE SEAT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE LOW QUALITY PARTS BEING USED. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ONE OF THEIR MORE EXPENSIVE ONES CURRENTLY IN THEIR INVENTORY. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO S WITH JUST 65,000 MILES ON IT. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE; I THINK IT IS SOMETHING AT THE LEFT REAR OF THE SEAT. AFTER LOOKING ON LINE, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH A PART CALLED THE LIFTER BRACKET. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY MANUFACTURE A PART FOR THIS REPAIR AT A VERY HIGH COST TO THE CONSUMER NOT TO MENTION THE LABOR COST TO DO THE REPAIR. THIS HAS BEEN AN APPARENT PROBLEM FOR YEARS WITHOUT ANY RECALL BY NISSAN. MY SISTER ALSO HAS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO AS WELL AND HER DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE A FEW YEARS AGO; THEY PUT A BRICK UNDER IT TO STOP THE ROCKING! THE SEAT ROCKS TO THE RIGHT WHEN YOU GO AROUND A CORNER AND GOD FORBID WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR. IS THERE ANYTHING YOUR AGENCY CAN DO TO CAUSE NISSAN TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT? *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE LEFT AND RIGHT CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND THE ENGINE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.

HELLO DEAR, I AM WRITING THIS MESSAGE TO REPORT A CRITICAL ISSUE WHICH HAPPENED ON MY NISSAN MURANO 2005. LAST WEEK DURING DRIVING, MY WHOLE DRIVER SEAT SUDDENLY LOOSE AND NOW IT ALMOST FELL OFF FROM FRAME. I FEEL NOT SAFE ANY MORE TO DRIVE IT. IT COSTS $500 TO $1000 TO FIX. IT IS A NISSAN MURANO 2005 S MODEL, I BOUGHT ON FEBRUARY 2006 BAND NEW. IT HAS AROUND 100K, I USED IT FOR WORK MOST OF TIME. TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SEIZED AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, EVEN WHEN BEING PUSHED IN NEUTRAL. LUCKILY IT WAS IN MY PARKING LOT BUT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION. *TR
WHILE BOARDING MY CAR DRIVER SEAT BROKE AND ALSO THE DAMAGE TRIGGERED THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO POP SINCE THE DRIVER SEAT IS LINKED TO AIR BAG.
THE ENGINE STRUGGLES TO START ON A NISSAN MURANO 2005. THE MECHANIC CLAIMS THE CRANK ENGINE SENSOR IS AT FAULT. THE NISSAN DEALER SAID THE PART IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND KNOWN TO WEAR OUT. NISSAN HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR NEWER CARS BY CHANGING THE MATERIAL THAT IS USED. IF NISSAN IS AWARE THIS PROBLEM EXISTS, SHOULDN'T THIS BE A RECALL? THE MECHANIC WARNED ME THE ENGINE COULD FAIL WHILE DRIVING. USERS ON ONLINE FORUMS HAVE INDICATED HAVING THE CAR FAIL WHILE DRIVING WHETHER IT'S AT HIGH SPEEDS OR ON LOCAL ROADS. *TR
FLASHING AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH AND RIGHT DOOR [PASSENGER SIDE] WILL NOT UNLOCK. *TR

THE DRIVER SIDE TRANS-AXLE SLID OUT OF IT'S LOCKED POSITION IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE AXLE SEAL/GASKET WAS REPLACES 3MONTHS PRIOR ON THE DRIVERSIDE. UP ON DISASSEMBLY, THE DEALERSHIP MASTER TRANSMISSION MECHANIC WAS BAFFLED AS TO HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED AS HE PUTS IT "YPU WOULD NEED A GREAT FORCE TO PULL IT OUT ONCE IT WAS IN LOCKED POSITION. ALL OF THE COMPONENTS WERE EXAMINED AND SEEM TO BE ALL IN GOOD CONDITION AS FAR AS WEAR ON THE THREADS ANS WELL AS THE LOCKING CLIP. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THIS WAS A FAILURE OF PRODUCT DESIGN AND NOT THE FAULT OF IMPROPER INSTALLATION AND THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE LET TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND MAY HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE ACCIDENT. *TR
I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AN AIRBAG LIGHT APPEAR ON MY DASH. WHILE DRIVING ON THE BELTWAY THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T TEE POND TO THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES IT KICKED BACK IN SO I TOOK IT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC FROM A NISSAN DEALER THE NEXT MORNING. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T CHECK ANYTHING UNLESS I PURCHASE A NEW BATTERY SO I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND THEY PUT IT IN AND TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS FINE AGAIN IT JUST NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO UNLOCK MY RIGHT SIDE DOORS AND TRUNK FOR QUITE SOME TIME. TOOK IT INTO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT IT IS DUE TO THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS. THEY QUOTED ME A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF $1500 TO FIX. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND ALSO SIGNED A PETITION TO HAVE NISSAN ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
THE FATIGUE CRACK OCCURRED AT THE TRANSFER CASE. AS AN ENGINEER, I SUSPECT THAT THE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) PROBLEMS IN THE MURANO CAUSED THE FAILURE AT THE TRANSFER CASE. MORE THAN LIKELY, THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT DO PROPER FATIGUE TESTING OR "TURNED AN EYE" AT THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS, AS THEY HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY IN THE CVT, YET REFUSE TO RECALL OTHER COMPONENTS DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE CVT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AMONG MANY NISSAN OWNERS AS I HAVE READ. ANYHOW, A FAILURE IN THE TRANSFER CASE IS A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
