TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND FLAMES APPEARED BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AS THE FUEL TANK EXPLODED THREE OR FOUR TIMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
TAKARA RECALL FUEL GUAGE DOESN'T WORK. IT IS STUCK ON HALF TANK
APPARENTLY NISSAN IS KNOWN FOR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR FUEL LEVEL SENSORS, BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY FOR MURANOS' WELL MAYBE IT SHOULD BE, EVEN AFTER I BOUGHT THE NEW PARTS AND HAD THEM INSTALLED WITH A MECHANIC, THEY STILL DO NOT WORK OR FUNCTION PROPERLY.WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK THE LEVEL SENSOR DOESN'T GO PAST A QUARTER OF A TANK NOW, IT DROPS RAPIDLY AND I HAVE EVEN NOW RAN OUT OF GAS WHEN IT SAYS IT HAS GAS IN THERE OR MILES TILL EMPTY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, MAYBE IT SHOULD BE FIXED.
VEHICLE FUEL SENSOR GONE BAD. SHOWS AS CHECK ENGINE AND FUEL LEVEL IS EITHER EMPTY OR EMPTY.
THE FUEL LEVER GUAGE IS INCONSISTENT AND WAY OFF. I PUT A HALF TANK IN AND IT READS EMPTY.

P0463 CODE NEEDS A RECALL
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A SHARP OBJECT. THAT SHARP OBJECT PUNCTURED MY GAS TANK AND THE TANK BEGAN TO LEAK. I CALLED NISSAN USA REGARDING RECALL NUMBER 35779. NISSAN SAID THAT THE TANK HAD BEEN REPLACED. HOWEVER, SEARS TOLD ME THAT THE MURANO WAS STILL USING A NISSAN TANK AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. I HAVE THE PART NUMBER ON THE WORK ORDER FROM SEARS. NISSAN DENIED MY REQUEST. NISSAN CLAIM NUMBER IS [XXX]. APPROXIMATELY JUNE 10, 2014. I WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP IN SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FROM NISSAN SINCE I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TANK AND LABOR. MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN BOWIE MD ALSO DENIED MY REQUEST. BOUGHT THE CAR, USED IN 2009. FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS CHARGERS IN CAR DID NOT WORK. WITHIN LAST SIX MONTHS FUEL GAUGE BECAME INACCURATE. THERE WAS ANOTHER INCIDENT WHERE THE CAR JUST STOPPED, WILL LOOK FOR DETAILS. BUT 9/24/13 DRIVING UP A HILL, CAR CAME OUT OF GEAR AND STOPPED WORKING. THE PART THAT WAS ULTIMATELY REPLACED WAS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL-PART NUMBER 24820-CC20A. APPARENTLY, PANEL WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH TRANSMISSION PROPERLY. DEALER CHARGED US $1150 TO REPLACE. NEITHER SERVICE MANAGER OR SERVICE COORDINATOR HAS SEEN ONE WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY. YES, INTERNET FULL OF COMMENTS ABOUT ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION AND INSTRUMENT PANEL. THESE FAILURES APPEAR TO BE THE RESULT OF FAULTY SOLDERING OR WELDING OF CONNECTIONS. *TR

THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET A FULL TANK OF GAS IS TO KEEP CLICKING CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL IT'S FULL. HOWEVER, NOW I HAVE A LOT OF BACK SPLASH OF GAS AND TO ME THIS VERY DANGEROUS TO ME AND OTHERS. SINCE JULY OF 2010 67,000 MILES THE TANK HAS BEEN TELLING ME I AM EMPTY WHEN I REACH HALF A TANK OF GAS THE CAR THINKS ITS EMPTY, I HAD NO INTENTION OF FIXING IT SINCE I KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR BUT NOW THAT IT WON'T PASS EMISSIONS TESTING, I TEST EVERY 2 YEARS AND SEPT 15, 2011 CAR WENT IN FOR TESTING AND FAILED DUE TO THIS FUEL PROBLEM, DUE TO COST TO FIX, I HAVE DEALT WITH POOR FUEL ECONOMY AND FUEL SENSOR/GAUGE MALFUNCTION BUT NOW I CAN'T PUT MY CAR ON THE ROAD ANYMORE DUE TO NOT PASSING EMISSIONS AND NOT BEING ABLE TO RENEW MY LICENSE PLATES.
