NISSAN SENT ME A RECALL ON THE AIR BAGS. I SPEAK WITH THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT, THEY SAY THEY HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR ALL DAY LONG. THEY PROVIDE NO LOANER. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GO PLACES? I NEED MY CAR. THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR A RENTAL.

AS A RESULT, SHE DISCOVERED THAT THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT TIGHTEN AND/OR LOOSEN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ORIGINAL SEAT BELTS IN THE VEHICLE WERE NOT MADE FOR A MAJORITY OF CHILD SEATS. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE SHOULDER HARNESS WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. THE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO ENGAGE BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING OVER-EXTENDED. THE CONTACT MOVED THE CENTER SEAT BELT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE; HOWEVER, SHE NO LONGER HAS A CENTER SEAT BELT AND THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 88,000.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR. I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF 50 MPH. HOWEVER, MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR MALFUNCTION. I WANT THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE NISSAN FOR A SERIOUS PRODUCT DEFICIENCY. AK
I HAVE A 2002 NISSAN PATHFINDER MANUFACTURED IN APRIL OF THAT YEAR. MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THE LOWER ANCHORS FOR THE LATCH SYSTEM, BUT DOES HAVE A REAR TETHER ANCHOR IN THE FLOORBOARD OF THE TRUNK. I CAN NOT SECURELY INSTALL A REAR-FACING CONVERTIBLE CRS DUE TO EXTENED WEBBING ON THE SEAT BELTS. I HAVE TRIED 3 DIFFERENT CRS MODELS UNSUCESSFULLY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE CAR DEALERSHIP, MAUFACTURER AND A CERTIFIED CAR SEAT SAFETY INSPECTION POINT. AT THIS POINT, THERE IS NOT A REMEDY TO THIS PROBLEM.
