TRANSMISSION COOLANT LINE IN BOTTOM OF RADIATOR RUPTURED LEAKING COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION AND TRANS FLUID INTO COOLING SYSTEM. *TR
RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION COOLER FAILED LEAKING RADIATOR FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION RUINING TRANSMISSION. RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPLACED ACCORDING TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. PROACTIVE REPLACEMENT (RECALL) OF KNOWN DEFECT IN RADIATOR WOULD HAVE BEEN INEXPENSIVE AND PREVENTED VERY COSTLY TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. *TR
MY WIFE DROVE THE SUV TO TOWN. IT STARTED ACTING FUNNY (TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY). AT THIS TIME THE SUV ACTED LIKE IT WAS OUT OF DRIVE AND WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR REVERSE. SHE HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH IT. THEY CALLED HER LATER THE SAME DAY AND TOLD HER THAT HER TRANSMISSION COOLING LINE IN THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN LONGVIEW, WA. TOLD US THAT WE HAVE TO PAY $2500.00 IF WE WANT OUR SUV REPAIRED, AND THAT IN OCTOBER 2012 THEY HAD SENT A LETTER STATING THAT WE NEEDED TO BRING OUR SUV IN BECAUSE OF THIS VERY PROBLEM. WE DID NOT RECEIVE THIS SO CALLED LETTER. *TR
I AM BEING TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION NISSAN INSTALLED IN THE 2006 PATHFINDERS. THEY ARE TELLING ME THIS IS VERY COMMON IN THE PATHFINDERS AND AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I AM SEEING THAT I AM NOT ALONE. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ENGINE COOLANT MIXING IN THE RADIATOR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ACCORDING TO NISSAN. I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY A $2500 COPAY TO HAVE THE REPAIR MADE. THE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT SINCE WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY. THE FAILURE IS CATASTROPHIC. MY REASON FOR COMPLAINT IS THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. INSTEAD THEY OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH COPAYS. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY THE $2500 IF THIS WAS A RECALL OR THE FAILURE OCCURRED BEFORE 80000 MILES. I URGE YOU TO FORCE NISSAN TO ISSUE THE RECALL AND REIMBURSE THE COPAY. *TR
ON 12/7/12, WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON BUT WITHIN HALF A MILE WHILE WAITING AT A STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE TURNED OFF AGAIN. ON 12/9/12 AT 10:45 P.M. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING 65MPH, THE ACCELERATOR DROPPED LESS THAN 40MPH, RPM NEEDLE BEGAN TO GO FROM 1 TO 3 RAPIDLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLICKER. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE FOR THE FIRST 10 SECONDS AND WHEN I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 30MPH. AFTER HALF A MILE, I WAS ABLE TO PICK UP SPEED, AFTER A MILE OF "NORMALITY" THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER ANOTHER MILE, I WAS ABLE PICK UP SPEED BUT IT FELT AS IF THERE WERE PRESSURE IN THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT HOME THAT NIGHT. TOOK MY PATHFINDER INTO CERRITOS NISSAN ON 12/11/12 AND IT TURNED OUT IT WAS THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE ISSUE. IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED WITHIN 24HRS. ON 12/17/12, WHILE DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, THE CAR JERKED, ACCELERATOR STALLED, RPM NEEDLE WOULD GO FROM GEAR 1-2 RAPIDLY, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLICKERED. IT LASTED FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS... I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND WITHIN 3 MILES (ONCE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ON A STOP AND GO TRAFFIC) THE EXACT SAME INCIDENT OCCUR. ON 12/18/12, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK TO NISSAN CERRITOS SERVICE DEALER FOR ANOTHER LOOK, THEY ARE CLAIMING EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM NOW CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE, I'VE BEEN LUCKY THAT I HAVE NOT SUFFERED AN ACCIDENT BUT IF THIS ISSUE CONTINUES, MY LUCK COULD RUN OUT AND I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY NEXT TIME. THE LIFE OF MY SON AND MY LIFE ARE AT STAKE HERE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT SOUNDS, AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST NOR 100TH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 45-55 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I FIRST NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING SMOOTHLY AND THE RPM'S WERE REVVING VERY HIGH BEFORE A SHIFT. I TOOK IT TO GET A TRANSMISSION FLUSH ON 12/22/12.THE FLUID SEEMED TO BE SPECKLED WITH A DARKER LIQUID. THE FLUSH SEEMED TO DO THE TRICK, BUT JUST THIS WEEK I NOTICED BETWEEN 1000 AND 1500 RPM AT 25-35 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTS TO VIOLENTLY JERK UNTIL I ACCELERATE AND CHANGE GEARS. *TR
I AM A MOTHER OF TWO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN. I DRIVE THEM TO AND FROM SCHOOL EACH DAY. DURING THESE TRIPS AND OTHER DAILY ERRANDS, MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER VIOLENTLY SHAKES AT RANDOM THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE. THIS CAUSES ME TO BE FEARFUL OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM TRANSPORTING MY CHILDREN. THE STEERING WHEEL VISIBLY SHAKES AND THE VEHICLE FEELS AS OF WE ARE RIDING OVER ROUGH TERRAIN. APPARENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING WITH A GOOD MAJORITY OF NISSAN VEHICLES NOW, AND THAT IS VERY FRIGHTENING FOR THEM TO BE ON THE ROAD . I FEEL A RECALL IS NEEDED TO SAVE A LIFE. *TR
TOOK MY 2006 PATHFINDER TO A SHOP FOR POOR HEAT, AND A SLIGHT TRANSMISSION SHUTTER AFTER CHECKING THE FLUID NOTICED THE ANTI-FREEZE WAS CONTAMINATED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS MILKY FROM THE ANTI-FREEZE. ONLY HAVING 88,000 MILES ON CAR I STARTED LOOKING FOR REASONS AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR CAUSING IT TO SWAP FLUIDS. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SHOP OWNER HE BELIEVES IT WAS CAUGHT EARLY SO THERE IS AN OFF CHANCE THAT A GOOD FLUSH AND TRANSMISSION SERVICE WILL CORRECT THE SHUTTER, HOW EVER I WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, ALL FLUIDS AND THE HOSE ASSEMBLY THAT CONNECTS THE REAR HEAT ( BECAME BRITTLE AND CRACKED FROM TRANSMISSION FLUID) FOR A COST OFF $2000 PARTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WHEN VEHICLE REACHES APPROX 50 MPH, CAR STARTS SHUDDERING. OVER TIME THIS SHUDDERING NOISE BECOMES WORSE EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS 20-30 MPH. NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION COOLER. THE WORST THING IS NISSAN IS CHARGING A CO-PAY OF $2,500. THEY SHOULD COVER ALL THE CHARGES INCLUDING THE CO-PAY SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE FAILED TO PROPERLY DISPLAY THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. THE LOW FUEL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS COMPLETELY FILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILIARY TANK). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
THE ENGINE STARTS UP BUT WILL NOT SHIFT TO SECOND GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE ITS ABILITY TO MOVE WHILE UNDER POWER. CHECKED TRANSMISSION OIL. THE LEVEL IS GOOD BUT THE FLUID IS "MILKY" IN COLOR. THE FLUID SHOULD BE A CLEAR, COLORED LIQUID. SUSPECT TRANSMISSION LINE INSIDE THE RADIATOR IS FRACTURED ALLOWING COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. *TR
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER 103K MILES. WE NOTICED VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER UPON ACCELERATION AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND AGAIN AT 50 MPH. ALSO AT TIMES THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP LIKE IT COULDN'T SHIFT TO THE NEXT GEAR. IF WE SLOWED DOWN TO 50 AND RE-ACCELERATED TO 55 MPH, THE SHUDDERING BECAME A SEVERE VIBRATION. WE TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SINCE WE HAD RECENTLY A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN FIXING ANOTHER PROBLEM (TIMING CHAIN). THE MECHANIC DROPPED THE TRANSMISSION PAN AND FOUND THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. MECHANIC STATED WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE CAUGHT THIS RIGHT AWAY AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF OTHER PROBLEMS TOO LENGTHY TO MENTION HERE. MECHANIC REPLACED RADIATOR AND DID A TRANNY FLUSH BUT I'M NOT SURE OUR PROBLEMS ARE OVER. NOW THE FUEL GAUGE REGISTERS EMPTY AFTER I HAVE JUST FILLED UP WITH FUEL, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND NOW I AM TOTALLY STRESSED OUT DRIVING ANYWHERE, AND ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND FUEL REGISTERED EMPTY ON THE DASH. SINCE THAT TIME FUEL GAUGE HAS NOT REGISTERED CORRECTLY GOING FROM FULL TO EMPTY AT SPORADIC TIME BUT WILL NEVER REGISTER LESS THAN 1/2 A TANK CAUSING ISSUES AS YOU NEVER NOW HOW MUCH FUEL YOU HAVE UNTIL YOU RUN OUT WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. TOOK TO NISSAN THEY SAID IT WAS A FUEL GAUGE ISSUE AND IT WOULD BE OVER 500 TO FIX AS THEY HAD TO DROP THE TANK TO GET AT THE FUEL SENSOR. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL DON'T KNOW WHY IT DIDN'T REGISTER AS OTHER PATHFINDERS HAVE THIS ISSUE . ALSO DON'T KNOW WHY A MILEAGE WARRANTY IS PUT ON THIS THEY SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE FUEL TANK REGARDLESS AS IT SEEMS AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE HITS 70K IN MILEAGE THIS BREAKS ON THE VEHICLE. ALSO DON'T BELIEVE THEY INCLUDED ALL PATHFINDERS IN THIS WARRANTY AS I AM SURE THE DEALER WOULD HAVE REPLACED IT IF IT WAS A RECALL. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED EMPTY ALTHOUGH THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
STEERING WHEEL WOBBLES UP AND DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE AS IF IT WAS LOOSE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS UP TO THE POINT WHERE STEERING BECOMES DISABLED CAUSING ACCIDENTS. REGARDLESS OF MY FINDINGS IN THE INTERNET, THERE ARE NO RECALLS FROM NISSAN TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHEN I PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER FROM A DEALER IN 2012. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND DEEMED SAFE TO DRIVE. I NOTICED MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR STAYED ON ALL THE TIME. EVEN AFTER FILLING TO THE RECOMMENDED PSI. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. WENT ON TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL THE NEXT YEAR WHEN I WOULD GET THIS SHAKING AND RUMBLE AT ABOUT 2500 RPM. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG EXCEPT FOR NEEDING NEW BRAKE PADS AND ENGINE TUNE UP. HAD THAT DONE BUT STILL MY CAR CONTINUED TO RUMBLE WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE. IT WAS INTERMITTENT ON AND OFF UNTIL IT GOT SO BAD THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER AND LET MY ENGINE COOL BEFORE IT WOULD DO IT AGAIN. RECENTLY I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT. SHE RAN A TEST ON THE COMPUTER AND THE CAR GAVE CODES THAT LINKED BACK TO THE TRANSFER CASE. SHE THEN HAD IT LOOKED AT BY HER TRANSMISSION EXPERT AND HE DISCOVERED COOLANT AND FLUID INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. ONLY THEN WAS IT LINKED TO ALL OTHER OCCURRENCES THAT FALL BACK ON NISSAN. I READ ONLINE THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR FAILING RADIATORS AND TRANSMISSIONS. IT WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE DISPUTE. WITH IT BEING OUT OF DATE FOR ANY COVERAGES UNDER THE LAWSUIT. I'M NOW LEFT WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND A HEFTY $3,600 REPAIR BILL THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE TO BEGIN WITH. I HOPE NISSAN HAS A PLAN TO FIX THIS ISSUE WITHOUT THE CONSUMER PAYING OUT OF POCKET. IF NOT I WILL BE PURSUING A CASE AGAINST THE DEALER FOR SELLING ME A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER WHILE CLIMBING A SLIGHT GRADE AT ABOUT 35-40MPH. PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES PROBLEM IS WITH TRANSMISSION, WHICH WAS DAMAGED BY DEFECTIVE RADIATOR. *TR
BOTH OF MY VEHICLE FOBS DON'T WORK WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD FOR INSTANCE EARLY MORNING AND WINTER MONTHS. ONCE I USE MY KEY MANUALLY THEY WILL WORK. ALSO IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER MY DOOR LOCK WILL FREEZE ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE AND I WILL EITHER BE UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR OR WILL GET THE DOOR OPEN AND WON'T BE ABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO LATCH SHUT. I CAN SPRAY SOME LOCK DE-ICER AND LUBE IN THE LOCK AND DOOR LATCH IF I CAN GET THE DOOR OPEN BUT IT ONLY SEEMS TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED TO SHAKE BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED INTO THE RADIATOR. AS RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD ONLY BLOW SEMI-COOL AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID WERE MIXING TOGETHER ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE COOLANT LINES AND THE RADIATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE LINES AND THE RADIATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT BECAUSE THE FAILURE WAS NOT UNCOMMON, THEY WOULD EXTEND HER WARRANTY BUT NOT FOR THE RECENT REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER, FIRST MY FUEL SENSOR FAILED, AND NOW AT APPROX 92,000 MILES MY VEHICLE HAS THIS HORRIBLE VIBRATION AT 45MPH AND 60 MPH. AFTER THINKING IT WAS MY TIRES OFF BALANCE AND HAVING THEM SERVICED AND AN ALIGNMENT DONE, I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND CALLED MY NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. TO MY SURPRISE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR FLUIDS MIXING, CAUSING THE TRANNY TO FAIL. IF THIS IS NOT A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS. PLEASE REVIEW, IT WILL COST THE CONSUMER APPROX $8,000 TO FIX AND NOT TO MENTION THE INCONVENIENCE. THE 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE RADIATOR (COOLANT) LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUDDER AS IF DRIVING ON RUMBLE STRIPS. LEAKING FLUID CAUSES WHAT FIRST STARTS OUT AS A RUMBLE DURING SHIFTING AROUND 40 MPH, THEN EVENTUALLY LEADS TO A SEIZE OF THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME. SHOULD THE TRANSMISSION FAIL WHILE IN TRAFFIC IT COULD CAUSE A ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TOOK PATHFINDER BACK (TWO DAYS) TO MECHANIC AND FOUND THE RADIATOR CONTAMINATED ONCE AGAIN AND NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH WILL COST $2500 THAT I DON'T HAVE AND I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE. TURNS OUT MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE COOLANT GETTING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE ONLY WAY TO CONTINUE TO USE MY VEHICLE IS TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT/REMANUFACTURED AT A TUNE OF $5,000. WELL, I'VE ALREADY PAID ~$40,000 FOR THE VEHICLE, ALONE (EXCLUDING OTHER REPAIR ITEMS SINCE I'VE OWNED IT). THE FACT THAT I NEED TO REPLACE A MAJOR POWER TRAIN COMPONENT TO USE SUCH AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE IS BEYOND COMPREHENSION. WE DROVE OUR 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND PARKED IT IN THE MORNING. WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO START IT THAT AFTERNOON, IT WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND INFORMED US THAT THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND BOTH WERE RUINED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR WAS $8,719. WE CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE IN TENNESSEE TO FILE A COMPLAINT ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH 05, 06 AND 07 NISSANS, THEY HAD INCREASED THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES, AND WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY. MY VEHICLE HAD OVER 81,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BEFORE THEY SOLD ME THE VEHICLE. I PAID $2,000 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND $600 FOR GAP INSURANCE, NEITHER OF WHICH WILL HELP IN ANY WAY. I STILL OWE $14,000 ON THE CAR. NISSAN SHOULD DO A RECALL FOR EVERYONE'S BENEFIT. OUR VEHICLE ALMOST RAN OUT OF FUEL IN THE UNDERSEA TUNNEL AS I WAS RELYING UPON THE FUEL GAUGE'S REPORT OF JUST OVER 1/4-TANK OF FUEL, WHEN IT WAS IN FACT, NEARLY EMPTY. THANKFULLY, WE WERE ABLE TO CLEAR THE TUNNEL AND MAKE IT TO A NEARBY GAS STATION, WHERE BASED UPON THE AMOUNT OF FUEL THE VEHICLE TOOK, WE WERE RUNNING "ON FUMES" AND COULD HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS - THEREBY BLOCKING TRAFFIC INSIDE THE TUNNEL.
