WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE, MY VEHICLE SHAKES AND THE SPEED DOES NOT INCREASE. I HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT AND I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS MIXING WITH THE RADIATOR. THERE IS A PURPLE SLIME UNDER THE RADIATOR CAP AND THERE IS CORROSION UNDER THE CAP OF THE OVERFLOW. THIS WILL COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX WHICH I CAN'T AFFORD. TRYING TO MERGE IN WITH TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS SINCE THE VEHICLE DOESN'T ALWAYS ACCELERATE. *KB
TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO LEAK FROM RADIATOR. NISSAN WANTS $6,400 TO REPAIR AND ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED MANUFACTURE DEFECT! *TR
VEHICLE ENGINE STARTED SKIPPING WHILE IN MOTION, ENGINE TEMPERATURE WENT UP TO OVERHEATED AND SPEED AUTOMATICALLY REDUCED ITSELF TO NO MORE THAN 35MPH ON THE ROAD, CAUSED TRAFFIC TO AVOID VEHICLE FROM HITTING IN THE REAR END. HAD TO DRIVE SMALL ROADS TO GET HOME. NISSAN SERVICE FIXED COOLANT PUMP BUT WE FOUND OUT LATER THIS WAS NOT THE ISSUE AS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS LATER THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME THE RADIATOR LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RUINED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. WE FIND OUT THAT NISSAN HAS HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF SUCH INCIDENTS AND HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL. OUR COST TO REPAIR IS $8,700 FOR A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED IN 2012 TO FIND OUT OUR VEHICLE WAS AFFECTED BY THE INTERMIX THE RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION THEY GAVE US AN ESTIMATED COST OF OVER $10,000.00 STATED IT WAS NO GOOD AND TO TRADE IT IN ASAP SAID WE SHOULDNT DRIVE IT THAT IT WAS DANGEROUS SO WE PARKE DIT. I WAS DEVISTATED WE DID EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER MADE REPORTS CALLED EVERYONE POSSIBLE NOTHING! TRIED TO SUE HOWEVER I FELL ILL (CANCER) AND COULDN'T KEEP OUR HEARING APT HERE IN SACRAMENTO CA. ITS STILL PARKED IN OUR GARAGE.
NOTICED HESITATION IN LOWER GEARS WITH MINOR VIBRATION. SENT THE PATHFINDER FOR AN EARLY SERVICE TO HAVE THEM LOOK IT OVER. EXPLAINED TO THEM THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY PROBLEM. THEY CHECKED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. IT WAS FINE. THEY RECOMMENDED MAYBE REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS WOULD HELP. IT DID NOT HELP. ONE WEEK LATER THE VIBRATION WAS LONGER AND MORE VIOLENT. DISCOVERED ONLINE THAT PEOPLE WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE OIL COOLER. I CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT WAS OVER FULL AND GRITTY. THE RADIATOR WAS LOW AND HAD OIL IN IT FROM THE TRANS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY COULD REPAIR IT FOR $750-$7,000. I HAD THEM DO 95% OF ALL THE SERVICES AND I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM NISSAN. 6 YEARS LATER MY VEHICLE IS WORTHLESS. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR AS I NORMALLY DO AND FELT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND ACTING FUNNY CAR LOST POWER ON HWY TOOK TO AN AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKED IN TO TRANSMISSION. SO TO GET IT FIXED HAD TO REBUILD TRANSMISSION,NEW TORQUE CONVERTER AND NEW RADIATOR. I SEE TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND NISSAN DOSE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM YOU CALL THEM AND THEY BRUSH YOU OFF. MEAN WAIL EVERYONE IS SPENDING ANY-WARE FROM $5000 TO $7000. COULD THIS GET LOOKED IN TO? *TR
SHUTTERING AT ABOUT 40MPH. DEALER SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. LATER TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THE DEALER FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. A WEEK OR SO LATER, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I FOUND TRANSMISSION FLUID AND WATER WERE MIXED. NISSAN DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE RADIATOR. I PURCHASED A NEW RADIATOR ,HAD IT INSTALLED. THE INSTALLER SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I PURCHASED NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID(FOR NISSAN) AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED, THEN HAD IT REPLACED AGAIN AFTER 100 MILES. TO REMOVE ANY RESIDUAL WATER. NISSAN STILL DENIES ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE RADIATOR OR TRANSMISSION. THE RADIATOR PROBLEM RENDERS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE USELESS. NHTSA - PLEASE REMEMBER THAT OUR GOVERNMENT IS BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE. YOU NEED TO MAKE NISSAN REPAIR OUR DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. ITS YOUR JOB. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION AND THE FLUID FROM THE TRANSMISSION LEAKED INTO THE RADIATOR. THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BOTH NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. ON TUESDAY FEB 14, 2012 I TOOK MY CAR IN CAUSE IT HAD A RECALL FOR THE GAS GAUGE NOT READING GAS LEVEL. MY CAR WAS READING CHECK ENGINE SOON, CAR WAS WORKING PERFECT THEY PUT THE COMPUTER ON AND NOTHING CAME UP AS THE CAR HAVING ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. EVEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED OFF. ON FRIDAY FEB 17, 2012 WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND WOULD NOT START AT ALL I HAD SOMEONE HELP ME PUSH THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THEN I FINALLY GOT IT TO START AGAIN. CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN SEND A TOW TRUCK TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALER BUT IF HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WORK THAT WAS DONE I HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TOW. THE PERSON AT THE DEALER THAT I SPOKE TO SAID THAT ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION I WAS GIVING HIM OF THE PROBLEM IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE WORK BUT HE COULDN'T BE SURE. ON SAT FEB 18, 2012 I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER, NOW THEY TELL ME THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CRACKER SYSTEM OF THE CAR WAS BAD BECAUSE WHEN THEY CHANGED THE FUEL GAUGE THERE'S MORE ELECTRICITY IS GOING IN AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM I HAD TO PAY 300.46 FOR SOMETHING THAT I WAS NOT TOLD COULD HAPPEN IF I FIXED SOMETHING THAT WASN'T GIVEN ME ANY REAL PROBLEMS BEFORE. NOW THE CAR IS SAYING CHECK ENGINE SOON AGAIN AND THE TRUTH IS I'M AFRAID TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. I'VE HAD THAT CAR FOR 6 YEARS NEVER, EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND NOW DIFFERENT THINGS ARE COMING UP. *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER LE 4WD BEGAN SHUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. IT ALSO BEGAN HAVING ISSUES GOING INTO REVERSE - TAKING UP TO 7 OR 8 SECONDS TO ENGAGE. IN TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE GARAGE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRED REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. THE ISSUE HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED BUT THERE ARE MANY REPORTS THAT AN ISSUE WITH FLUIDS MIXING BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR ARE OCCURRING QUITE OFTEN. IT IS DEPLORABLE THAT NISSAN IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING SEIZED AND BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING SHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 142,000.
ON 2-11-12 WENT OUT TO START MY NISSAN PATHFINDER 2006. PUT THE KEY AND STARTED TO CRANK BUT IT WOULD TURN OVER. LISTEN TO SEE IF I COULD HERE THE FUEL PUMP PRIME BUT DIDNT HEAR ANYTHING. SO, MONDAY MORNING CALLED THE TOW COMPANY AND HAD IT TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER IN MANSFIELD, OH (WHITY'S AUTOMALL). THEY TOLD ME TODAY 2-14-12 THAT IPDM- ER WAS BAD THAT IT SHORTED OUT. AND I NEED TO REPLACE IT AT MY COST. ASKED THEM ABOUT THAT RECALL IF THIS ECM RELAY UNIT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO SHORT OUT. STILL WAITING ON ANSWER FOR THAT. I DONT HAVE 600.00 TO FIX IT. *TR

IT STARTED FEELING LIKE I WAS DRIVING OVER THE BUMPS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER TO THE DEALER AND I HAD THE RADIATOR LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH NISSANS AND THEY ARE NOT RECALLING THE PROBLEM. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES; UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE 95,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK. IT WOULD HAVE COST ME APPROXIMATELY $1,000 TO FIX THE RADIATOR, MORE THAN 5000 TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
THE RADIATOR COLLING PUMP CRACKED CAUSING THE COOLING FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSSION FLUID IN RETURN A NEW RADIATOR DRIVE UNIT AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. *TR
HEARD A THUD IN THE REAR. TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC. BEFORE THE MECHANIC EVEN LOOKED AT IT HE KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG. I TOLD HIM I THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER. DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING HE EXPLAINED TO ME. THE COMPUTER WAS NOT WORKING ON THE CAR IT HAD BURNED OUT DUE TO THE DESIGN OF PATHFINDER. THE TRANSMISSION OIL THE RADIATOR AND ALL OF THE CARS FLUIDS ARE MIXED. THE RADIATOR LOOKED LIKE VASOLINE.HE TOLD ME I NEED A TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM AND COMPUTER. HR WOULD CHARGE 5,000 DOLLARS HE SUGGESTED TAKING IT TO NISSAN.HE SAID HE HAS FIXED SEVERAL PATHIFINDERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES HE SAID NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS.I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER IN BRADENTON FL. WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR THEY QUOTED ME 8,000 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. SINCE MY TRUCK ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY. I ASKED MY DEALER ABOUT ALL THE PROBLEMS.HE TOLD ME TO CALL NISSAN TO MAKE A COMPLAINT THERE ISN'T ANY THING HE CAN DO. THEN I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THOUSANDS OF PATHFINDERS WITH MY SAME PROBLEM IM APPALLED BY THIS. AND NEED TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO???? *TR

ROUGH SHIFTING PROMPTED A CHECK OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AT THE DEALER. WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND BOTH COMPONENTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. THEY OFFERED REFURBISHED PARTS FOR THE OUT OF WARRANTY REPAIR FOR $5480. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP OFFERED NEW PARTS FOR $5200. N *TT
AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE LIKE I WAS RUNNING OVER THE EMERGENCY LANE VIBRATION STRIPS AND LOST POWER. I WAS IN HIGH TRAFFIC AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. I HAD TO LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL, COAST A LITTLE THEN PRESS THE PEDAL AGAIN UNTIL IT SHIFTED INTO A HIGHER GEAR. I HAD IT CHECKED BY A DEALER AND TURNS OUT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED BECAUSE OF A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY THAT ALLOWED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. A PROBLEM THAT MANY PATHFINDER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT IN THEIR PATHFINDERS AND INSTEAD OF RECALLING THE VEHICLES THEY EXTENDED A WARRANTY THAT LEAVES THE OWNER PAYING A $3,000 CO PAY TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACED FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR

I HAVE A PATHFINDER 2006 WITH 110,000 MILES ON JANUARY 9, 2012 I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS SHAKING ONES I DROVE OVER 60 MPH THE DEALER DID A MULTI- POINT VEHICLE INSPECTION AND THEY DETERMINED THAT EVERYTHING WAS OK EXCEPT FROM THE FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE CHAFF JOINT GOT EXCESSIVE PLAY AND REPLACE IT FOR NEW ONE AND YESTERDAY MARCH 7, 2013 I TOOK MY PATHFINDER 2006 TO ROYAL PALM NISSAN AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX]ESTATE IT THAT MY CAR RADIATOR IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THOUGH THAT I HAD TO REPLACE IT FOR A NEW ONES AND IS GOING TO COST ME $6400 AND HE STATES THAT THAT'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE PATH FINDERS SO IF IT'S A COMMON ISSUE AND THEY DO AN EXTENDED WARRANTIES WISH THERE ARE NO GOOD TO NO BODY HOW CAN THEY SPECT A COSTUMER TO PAY 6400 FOR A PART THE THEY SHOULD RECALL I'M SURE I'M NOT ALONG ON THIS ISSUE AND JUST HOPE THE SOME BUSY LIKE YOU GUYS CAN MAKE THEM DO THE RIGHT THING AND STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS TO AVOID ANY ACCIDENTS WITH THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES ON THE ROAD THANKS SO MUCH FOR REVIEWING THIS LINES I APPRECIATED AND I HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU GUYS THANKS EVER SUCH LOTS. THE ENGINE LOOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT PATHFINDER TRANSMISSION TEND TO FAIL OR GO BAD. TRANSMISSIONS ON CAR SHOULD LAST LONGER. THE PATHFINDER THERE HAS BEEN CASES WHERE AT 100,000 MILES IT ALREADY NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. MY PATHFINDER MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN IM DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A WHILE FOR IT TO GO AT A NORMAL SPEED. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT THIS POINT. NISSAN SHOULD TEND TO THIS PROBLEM AND FIX IT. *TR
THE COOLER RADIATOR OPENED AND ALLOW THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION UNIT.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY LOOSE AND BEGAN TO SHAKE WITH AN EXCESSIVE VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY TWO DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A THIRD OPINION AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SPIRAL CABLE KIT WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 7/18/12 *CN THE U-JOINTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE STEERING PROBLEM CONTINUED. UPDATED 07/31/12

ABOUT 10,000 MILES AGO I NOTICED A VIBRATION AT 40 AND 60MPH. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO REPLACED TWO U JOINTS AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. WELL, VIBRATION IS BACK, NOT ONLY THAT NOW THAT IT IS WINTER, MY VEHICLE WONT WARM UP FROM AN IDLE. IT NEVER BLOWS HOT AIR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WHICH I BOUGHT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011 HAS BEEN GOING BAD I CAN MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT AND IT WIGGLES IT ALSO WIGGLES UP AND DOWN WHICH IS NOT NORMAL AND THE STEERING IS NOT RIGHT. PAID 600.00 TO CLEAN OUT TRANSMISSION PAN AND WHATEVER BS THEY TOLD ME, NOW RPMS ARE REVVING HIGH WHEN I TRY TO TAKE OFF, AND I AM AT RISK FOR STALLING OR TRANSMISSION FAILING IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION OR HIGHWAY. BACK IN NOVEMBER 2011 (A WEEK BEFORE THANKSGIVING) MY CAR STARTED TO ACT UP WHILE SHIFTING (SHIFTING HARD OR NOT SHIFTING). I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER (BERTERA NISSAN OF AUBURN, MA) ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE MECHANICS THERE TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. THEY NEVER EVEN TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS AROUND THE 80K. IN FEBRUARY TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC (ED'S AUTOMOTIVE, ELLINGTON CT) FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE (OIL CHANGE). I ASKED HIM TO CHECK IF I NEEDED A TRANSMISSION SERVICE SINCE I WAS AT 100K IN MILES. HE CHECKED THE FLUID AND TOLD ME THAT THE COOLANT WAS MIXED WITH MY TRANSMISSION FLUID AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER TO SEE IF IT WAS COVERED. HE INFORMED ME AT THAT TIME OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN THAT NISSAN HAS OUT. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER THAT TOLD ME 4 MONTHS EARLIER THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY GAVE ME THE INFO TO FILE THE CLAIM AND CONFIRMED THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. I FILED AND WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. IT TOOK ABOUT A WEEK. WHEN I HEARD BACK FROM THE CUSTOMER LINE, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH THE ISSUE. I CALLED BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO TRY TO REACH A DIFFERENT PERSON TO DISCUSS THIS. I WAS NEVER PUT THROUGH TO ANYONE ELSE. THE WOMAN ON THE PHONE TOLD ME THAT IF I DIDN'T LIKE THE OUTCOME TO CONTACT THE BBB AND FILE A CLAIM. THAT'S GREAT AND ALL, BUT THAT STILL DOES NOT FIX MY CAR. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR, I'M PAYING $20K FOR IT. I WAS FINALLY CONTACTED BY THE NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE AFTER SENDING OUT SEVERAL EMAILS. AGAIN, NISSAN DENIED HELPING ME. THE REASON I WAS GIVEN IS BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WASN'T TAKEN DOWN BY THE DEALERSHIP AT THE FIRST VISIT. REALLY? HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO KNOW YOUR PROCEDURES. THAT DOES NOT FALL ON ME AS A CUSTOMER. TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR FLUIDS MIXED AND CAUSED A MAJOR LOCK UP AND OVERHEATING IN THE CAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED AND THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE MALFUNCTION BUT FAILED TO NOTIFY OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A KNOCKING AND "WHOOM, WHOOM" SOUND THAT GOT LOUDER AND LOUDER. WHEN I MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY (ON MY WAY TO AN UNRELATED NISSAN SERVICE APPT.) ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELT AS THOUGH I HAD A FLAT TIRE. THEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I LOST THE USE OF MY BRAKES AND COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY (ON THE LEFT IN THE GRASSY MEDIAN) AND MY LEFT FRONT WHEEL FLEW OFF MY CAR. I STILL COULD NOT STOP THE CAR AS MY BRAKES HAD BECOME DISENGAGED WHEN THE WHEEL CAME LOOSE. MERCIFULLY MY RIM DIGGING INTO THE DIRT IN THE MEDIAN FINALLY CAUSED THE CAR TO COME TO A STOP. THE ENTIRE FRONT BUMPER WAS SHOVED BACK TOWARD THE BACK OF THE CAR AND WAS DAMAGED. I HAD NO IDEA THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD FAIL ON MY PATHFINDER, AFTER FINDING OUT THAT THOUSANDS OF PATHFINDER OWNERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE I AM CONCERNED. NISSAN TELLS ME THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE RADIATOR AND WILL LEAK COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE FAILURE.IT WILL COST AROUND $ 5,000 TO REPAIR ,MONEY I DON'T HAVE. WITHIN A YEAR OF HAVING THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT REPLACED AS PART OF A RECALL, THE SAME SYMPTOM APPEARED AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND AS WAS HAPPENING BEFORE THE INITIAL RECALL WORK WAS DONE. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFORMATION OF THE FUEL TANK THAT WOULD CAUSE THE SENDING UNIT TO "HANG UP". WHEN I RETURNED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AGAIN, THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A BULGING FUEL TANK AND WANTED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THEY REVIEWED MY CLAIM AND DECIDED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. IN MY MIND THE ROOT CAUSE WAS NEVER TRULY ADDRESSED AND NOW I AM PAYING TO REPAIR WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INITIALLY REPAIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
IN OCTOBER OF 2011, MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER BEGAN VIOLENTLY VIBRATING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I REACHED 60 MPH. SOMETIMES IT WOULD STOP WHEN I LET UP OFF THE GAS. OTHER TIMES IT WOULD CONTINUE TO SHAKE. AFTER REPEATED VISITS TO THE MECHANICS AND NEW TIRES, ROTATIONS, BRAKES AND BALANCING, WE DECIDED TO GO TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS COOLANT THAT HAD MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. AS A MATTER OF FACT HE HAD 5 NISSAN PATHFINDERS ON HIS LOT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER MULTIPLE SEARCHES, WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF ENTRIES OF PATHFINDER OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO NISSAN IN MY TOWN AND CONTACTED CORPORATE. I WILL BE FILING A CIVIL SUIT IF THEY DO NOT AGREE TO PAY AND FIX MY CAR THAT I HAVE HAD FOR ONLY 3 YEARS. *TR

THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,667. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY SON'S PATHFINDER'S TRANSMISSION JUST DIED AT 86,000 MILES. HE BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED AND HAS ONLY OWNED IT FOR 4 MONTHS. THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE RADIATOR LEAKING AND MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND THE REST IS HISTORY. WE HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE REFERRING TO THIS VERY PROBLEM. JUST WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT IF THERE SHOULD EVER BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. WE CONTACTED BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER, WITH NO SATISFACTION AT ALL. *TR
AUTO FAILED TO START OR IF STARTED FAILED TO RUN WITH COMPUTER COORDINATED POWER PRODUCTION. ENGINE MISFIRING AND POWERLESS AND IMMOBILE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. GARAGE SAID THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OF THESE FAILURES ON NISSAN AUTOS AND EXPECT A RECALL TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PART FAILING WITH INCREASING REGULARITY. IPDM FAILURE DIAGNOSTIC IS COMPLETE ENGINE POWER FAILURE AND STOP AFTER EXTREMELY ROUGH IDLING, EVEN WHEN ACCELERATOR ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM IS WITHOUT WARNING, INSTANT AND ERRATIC ONSET WITH NO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROTOCOL. THIS IS A PART FAILURE WHICH WILL STRAND THE DRIVER WHEREVER IT HAPPENS UNTIL THE PART (IPDM) IS REPLACED , AFTER WHICH THE VARIOUS COMPUTERS ON THE CAR WILL PERFORM AS NORMAL AND AUTO FUNCTIONS NORMALLY. THIS PART SHOULD BE IMPROVED, RECALLED AND REINSTALLED WITH DEFECT FREE REPLACEMENT TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE AND STRANDING OF OTHER NISSAN DRIVERS. NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THE PART AS YET BUT THE REPAIR COST ME $910 FOR DIAGNOSES AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE AND FAILED IPDM ON THE 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND PERHAPS OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES. THE RECORDS OF NISSAN SHOULD SHOW THE SPIKE IN ORDERS FOR THIS PART AS OTHER VEHICLES FAIL TO FUNCTION DUE TO FAILURE OF THE IPDM. LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE RADIATOR FAILED ALLOWING COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSING CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. NISSAN ASSIST WAS NO HELP. COST TO REPAIR QUOTED AT $5700. NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THREE WEEKS DUE TO HIGH DEMAND. WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE, BUT IT WAS VERY DISTURBING TO MAKE IT OFF THE FREEWAY WITHOUT GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND IN THE RAIN. VEHICLE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED DUE TO AN ELECTRONIC SHORT RESULTING FROM A RADIATOR COOLING LINE RUPTURING AND FLOODING THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. I CHECKED ON LINE AND WAS SURPRISED (AMAZED) AT THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE ARE EVEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS PENDING RELATED TO NISSAN KNOWINGLY AWARE OF A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR COOLING LINE THAT BREAKS MIXING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP QUOTING $6,500 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. NISSAN ALSO EXTENDED THE FACTORY WARRANTY TO 80K MILES WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE PART. THANK YOU. BUT, THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. AND, YOU DON'T KNOW THERE IS ONE UNTIL IT FAILS AND CREATES THE PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. AS THE CAR WILL DIE IF THE MODULE SHORTS OUT. IT IS THE SAME MODULE THAT TELLS THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. MY OPINION, NISSAN BEING AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE PART, IN COLLUSION WITH A VENDOR WHO PROVIDED THE PART. IS DARN NEAR NOT ONLY FRAUD BUT CONSPIRACY. I PINGED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS WHO OPENLY ADVISED OF THE DEFECTIVE PART AND THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES THEY HAVE FIXED. I ASKED THE DEALER HOW LONG TO GET A TRANSMISSION. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ONE REQUIRED TO FIX THE 2006 NISSAN HAD 148 TRANSMISSIONS ON BACK ORDER. I SHOULD EXPECT 4 TO 6 WEEKS TO GET ONE. BUT, OF COURSE. MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE LINE THAT RUPTURES NORMALLY DOES BETWEEN 90 AND 110K MILES. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAS A HISTORY OF LIQUIDS FLOWING INTO THE TRANSMISSION, THUS CAUSING IT TO NEED TO BE REPLACED.
