BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENED.. I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER, LOCAL TRADE AT A DEALERSHIP. AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SOME DAYS LATER I STARTED TO NOTICE THE VEHICLE SHIFTED VERY HARD, STARTED MORE FREQUENTLY AS THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE ROAD LONGER.. FELT LIKE IT SLAMMED INTO EACH GEAR!!! I WAS DRIVING ACROSS A BRIDGE ONE MORNING AND ITS A 2 LANE BRIDGE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY RPMS REDLINE AND FEELS LIKE IM IN 3RD GEAR, ALL THE CARS BEHIND SWERVE INTO THE NEXT LIKE CAUSE I WAS GO THE SPEED LIMIT THEN THE CAR DROPS DOWN VERY RAPIDLY IN SPEED.I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED TO SHAKE A LITTLE AND THE RPMS JUST REDLINED. I GET IT TO A LOCAL SHOP, COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND MESSED EVERYTHING UP.. ALL IN ALL THE SHOP TELLS ME THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION IS SHOT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.AND MY TOTAL BILL WOULD BE CLOSE TO $4,000 DOLLARS... VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN!!! LOST ALL FAITH AND WILL STICK TO HONDA FROM NOW ON!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ONCE IT REACHED A SPEED OF 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE RADIATOR ALLOWING RADIATOR FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 104,000.
TRANSMISSION STUTTER DURING ACCELERATION DUE TO RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. FUEL GAUGE GIVES FALSE READINGS AT ALL TIMES TO THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK DUE TO FAULTY SENDING UNIT. *TR
AT FIRST INCIDENT, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD START SLIPPING CAUSING A VIBRATION WHILE THE OVERDRIVE WAS ON, THE VIBRATION WOULD GO AWAY WHEN OUT OF OVERDRIVE. THEN THE CAR WOULD STALL WHEN YOU WOULD TRY TO TAKE OFF AT A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL YOU WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND CRANK IT AGAIN. AS YOU WOULD PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. THEN EVEN WITH THE CAR OUT OF OVERDRIVE WHILE AT SPEEDS AT 55 MPH OR HIGHER THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT WORK, YOU WOULD HAVE TO LET OFF ON THE ACCELERATOR AND WAIT ON THE RPM'S TO DROP AND THEN IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR AGAIN.I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED THE TROUBLE WAS IN A SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK THE CAR TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP, THEY CHECKED THE FLUID AND SAID THERE WAS WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSED BY A COOLANT LEAK FROM INSIDE OF RADIATOR GETTING INTO THE TRANSMISSION LINES CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO GO BAD DUE TO COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. *JS
I JUST HAD MY CAR SERVICED FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS ONLY A 2006 PATHERFINDER LE. THANKFULLY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WHILE IT WAS IN THERE THEY SUGGESTED TAKING A LOOK AT THE SHAKY LOOSE STEERING WHEEL. I KNEW THERE HAD BEEN PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE YOU COULD WIGGLE IT IN ALL DIRECTIONS. THEY INFORMED ME IF I DON'T REPAIR IT THAT AFTER AWHILE I WILL LOSE STEERING IN THE CAR. $1,200 LATER IT IS FIXED, BUT WITH SO MANY OF THESE COMPLAINTS SHOULDN'T THIS BE SERIOUSLY LOOKED AT BY NISSAN AS A RECALL?????? *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE FUEL GAUGE BECAME INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK) BUT THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND NOTIFIED THEM OF SHUDDERING WHEN DRIVING IN EXCESS OF 40MPH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS 'MILKY' AS A RESULT OF COOLANT MIXING IN WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE TO A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR. ADVISED REPAIRS TO INCLUDE A TRANSMISSION COOLER WOULD BE IN EXCESS OF $8,000+. ALSO ADVISED THAT MILEAGE OF 91,033 VOIDED EXTENDED WARRANTY. (3 YEARS, 80,000 MILES) VEHICLE IS NON-OPERABLE DUE TO TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *TR
RADIATOR FAILURE CAUSED TRANSMISSION FAILURE LEADING TO LURCHING AND DIFFICULTY HANDLING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JERKED INTO GEAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO RECOMMENDED THE SAME REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 98,000.
NISSAN KNOWS THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSIONS. THIS CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. SHOULD THE TRANSMISSION FAIL WHILE IN TRAFFIC IT COULD CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER THAT I BOUGHT THROUGH MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP BRAND NEW. IT HAS 85000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NO LONGER GO IN REVERSE. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 80000 KNOWING THAT MOST WERE FAILING AFTER THAT MILEAGE. THEY REFUSE TO HELP WITH THE PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE HAS SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 WEEKS WAITING FOR THEM TO DECIDE NOT TO FIX IT. THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS A FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM THAT WAS RECALLED FOR SOME 2006 MODELS BUT NOT ALL. MINE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND THE WARRANTY EXTENSION WAS USELESS ALSO AS THE PART FAILED JUST AFTER THE MILEAGE GIVEN. IN 2008 I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH THIS SAME VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WHEN I ASKED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP (SAME ONE) WHY IT DIDN'T DEPLOY I WAS TOLD THAT I DIDN'T HIT THE CAR ON CENTER THEREFORE I MISSED THE SENSOR. AFTER THEM HAVING MY VEHICLE FOR NEARLY A MONTH TO REPAIR IT I HAD IT BACK 1 WEEK WHEN I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND NISSAN KNOWS IT. *TR
NISSAN 2006 PATHFINDER NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. CHANGED THE BATTERY AND TOOK FOR A TEST DRIVE. VERY SLUGGISH FROM ZERO TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION BUT I WAS 6,000 MILES OVER THE WARRENTY, SO NISSAN SAID TOO BAD. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A CAR WITH 86,000 MILES NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHY IS NISSAN NOT STANDING BY THEIR PRODUCT? IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHY IS NISSAN NOT STANDING UP FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS? *KB
WE NEED TO LOOK INTO THE TRANSMISSIONS ON 2005 AND 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDERS AND FRONTIERS. FINDING SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. IT SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM TO THE TUNE OF OVER $7000. *TR
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. CONSUMER STATES FLUID IS LEAKING THROUGH TO THE TRANSMISSION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. *JB
THIS BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY SHOWING PROBLEMS ON THE HIGHWAY, DURING ACCELERATION (AFTER LETTING OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO SLOW) THE CAR WOULD START TO SHAKE SLIGHTLY AND LOSE POWER BEFORE AGAIN RUNNING SMOOTHLY IN MAY 2011. LATER IT STARTED TO DO IT AT SLOWER SPEEDS DURING ACCELERATION. THEN IT WOULD SOMETIMES HAVE ONE OR TWO CLUNKS DURING ACCELERATION, BEFORE AGAIN RUNNING SMOOTHLY. WE TOOK OUR CAR AGAIN TO OUR MECHANIC IN MAY 2012, AND FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR HAD BEEN LEAKING, THEN GUSHED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. WE REPLACED THE RADIATOR, AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION TO HELP FIX THE ISSUES. THE ISSUES STILL CONTINUE TODAY, ALTHOUGH WE RARELY DRIVE THE CAR AND CAN NOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE AN NEW TRANSMISSION. *TR
AT 86,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION STARTED TO STUTTER. I TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN FAIRFAX VA AND THEY JUST SAID I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $7500. THEY MENTIONED NOTHING ABOUT A POTENTIAL RADIATOR PROBLEM CAUSING THIS, THEY BASICALLY PLAYED DUMB ABOUT IT. IF I WERE TO HAVE THEM FIX IT WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID I MIGHT WANT TO "PUNT" ON THIS ONE AND LET SOMEONE ELSE DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO AAMCO AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL WHERE THE RADIATOR FAILS AND FLUID IS CROSS-CONTAMINATED WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I PAID $5000 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. NISSAN SHOULD FESS UP TO THIS PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN DOING MY RESEARCH AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED WITH NUMEROUS PATHFINDER OWNERS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS WELL KNOWN, DOCUMENTED ISSUE. THIS TYPE OF ISSUE COULD LEAD TO A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF THE TRANSMISSION WERE TO FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY OR A MAJOR PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE IF FAILURE WERE TO HAPPEN ON BACK ROADS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND WHEN DRIVING FROM THE COMPLETE STOP THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO HESITATE IN A JERKING MOTION. IN ADDITION, A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF STEAM EMITTED FROM THE RADIATOR AND THE THERMOSTAT INCREASED RAPIDLY TO HOT WHICH RESULTED IN THE ENGINE OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DETECTED THAT THE RADIATOR EXHIBITED A CRACK AND FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 07/20/11*LJ UPDATED 08/19/11
RADIATOR WAS LEAKING BUT DID NOT CAUSE ANY OVER HEATING ISSUES WITH THE CAR BUT IT DID CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO BREAK AND NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THEY SAY ITS A DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR. *TR
WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, MODERATE TO HEAVY VIBRATION OCCURRED FOLLOWED BY AN EXTREME LOSS OF POWER. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON AN EXPRESSWAY. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD TRANSMISSION WAS CONTAMINATED WITH COOLANT, REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT OF THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION, APPROXIMATELY $5,000. WHILE THERE, IT WAS INFERRED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. THERE WERE 2 OTHER VEHICLES THERE THAT DAY WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THE DEALER (FIRST TEAM NISSAN) HAS SUBMITTED TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA A REQUEST FOR SOME RELIEF. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT, BUT I BELIEVE STRONGLY, BASED ON VARIOUS WEB SEARCHES AND SOME COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THIS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HANDLE THESE ON A 1ST COME 1ST SERVED BASIS AND HE BELIEVES THEY HAVE A VERY LARGE BACK-LOG OF COMPLAINTS. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER MAY 3, 2011. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A REGULAR SERVICE. UPON LEAVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THEN HER FUEL GAUGE STARTED TO MALFUNCTION AND READ EMPTY WHEN SHE KNEW THAT THERE WAS A FULL TANK OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHEN THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE FUEL SENDER UNIT HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FUEL SENDER LEVER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO ACCURATELY MEASURE THE FUEL LEVELS IN THE RESERVE TANK. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THERE WAS GASOLINE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
NISSAN ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO REPLACE FAULTY RADIATORS AND TRANSMISSIONS AFFECTED BY THESE FAULTY RADIATORS YET DID NOT INCREASE THE WARRANTY BY THE NORMAL 12MO 12,000 MILE INSTEAD THEY INCREASED IT TO 96MONTHS AND ONLY 80,000 MILES NOT 96,000 MILES SIMPLY BECAUSE MOST FAILURES HAPPEN OVER 80,000 MILES. THEY ALSO CLAIMED THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY RECALL. WHEN THE RADIATOR AFFECTS THE TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE CAN STALL DURING DRIVING. HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS FROM THEIR LETTER INFORMING CONSUMERS: "IN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY MIGHT OCCUR AT HIGHER MILEAGES LEADING TO INTERNAL LEAKAGE OF ENGINE COOLANT. WHILE THE MAJORITY OF VEHICLES WILL NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE, NISSAN IS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY AS IT APPLIES TO THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY TO DEMONSTRATE OUR COMMITMENT TO STAND BEHIND OUR PRODUCTS AND OUR CUSTOMERS. NISSAN IS EXTENDING YOUR VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY AS IT APPLIES TO THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY AND ITS COMPONENT PARTS FROM 36 MONTHS/36,000 MILES TO 96 MONTHS/80,000 MILES, INCLUDING DAMAGE, REPAIRS, REPLACEMENT, AND RELATED TOWING RESULTING FROM THIS ISSUE."A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR IS CAUSED FROM THERMAL SCHOCK. WHICH NISSAN KNEW ABOUT BEFORE INSTALLING THE ORIGINAL RADIATOR IN MY VEHICLE. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE THEY APPLIED FOR A PATENT ON JAN 24,2006 WHICH WAS PUBLISHED SEPT 2006 THEREFORE THEY KNOWINGLY INSTALLED RADIATORS THAT WOULD UNDERGO THERMAL SHOCK IE CRACK. I HAD MULTIPLE POSTING PREVIOUSLY ON MY 2006 BRAND NEW NISSAN PATHFINDER. FIRST PROBLEM WAS WITH THE ECM WHICH WAS LATER FIXED FOR ABOUT $2000, LATER NISSAN REIMBURSED. AS LITHIA SPRING GA. NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAD MY SUV TO FIX THE ECM, ON DAY OF PICK UP, 2 FRONT CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE DEFECTIVE EVIDENCE BY A LOUD HOLLOW NOISE WHICH THE DEALERSHIP DENIED. FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS NOTIFIED BY NISSAN MANUFACTURERS TO TAKE MY SUV FOR A RECALLED MAINTENANCE ON RADIATOR ASSEMBLE ISSUES. I TOOK MY SUV TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WITH MY NOTICED, THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO COMPLETE THE RECALLED MAINTENANCE AND CLAIMED THAT MY SUV HAD A HIGHER MILEAGE THAN WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS ARE RECALLING. TWO WEEKS LATER MY SUV WENT INTO A CLOUD OF SMOKE WITH A ROOTING EGGS ODOR AND AS I TOWED THE CAR TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, I WAS CHARGE $98 TO COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC AND I WAS INFORMED THE VALVES BODY, THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR AND MY TRANSMISSION NEED A REPLACEMENT FOR THE TOTAL OF OFFER $5000. I MANAGED TO COMPLETE PAYMENT ON THE CAR, I HAD JUST CANCELLED THE REGISTRATION ON MY SUV. I STILL NEED HELP TO GET MY SUV RUNNING AGAIN. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASED I DROVE OF WITH ONLY 20 MILES IN MY SUV. I PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED 2006 PATHFINDER LE FROM HONDA, DURING THE TEST DRIVE THE CAR WAS OK, BUT AS SOON AS WE SIGN SALES CONTRACT GOT THE KEYS AND THEY GAVE US A $20 GAS RE-IMBURSTENT, VEHICLE'S FUEL GAUGE WENT WACKY AND SAID THAT WE WERE ON EMPTY AND LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SENT ME TO THEIR 3RD PARTY MECHANIC WHO ARE WONDERFUL AND CHANGED OUT THE FUEL SENDER. CAR RAN FIND AFTERWARDS, NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS LATER AND ONLY PUT ABOUT 1200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED. CALLED HONDA AND THE SALES MAN THAT SOLD US THE CAR SAID TO BRING IT BACK TO THEIR 3RD PARTY BUT DID NOT GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL HELP PAY FOR THE ISSUE. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THEIR HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR THAT I PURCHASED, BUT WHEN I CALLED NISSAN TO ASK IF VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY THEY SAID NO IT IS NOT AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING OR WILL ASSIST ME IN ANYWAY, BUT WOULD LIKE ME TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN DEALER TO GET IT DIAGNOSED AT MY COST, AND TO CALL THEM BACK TO GIVE THEM FEED BACK. I SAID NO THANKS, AND NOW I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT THE PRE-OWNED SALES MANAGER BY PHONE BUT HE WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS, I WILL GO TOMORROW TO THEIR OFFICE TO SEE AGAIN IF THEY WILL HELP ME WITH THE COST AND FIND A PERMANENT FIX SINCE THIS IS MY FAMILY VEHICLE WHICH I TOLD THE SALES MAN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING AND SLOWED DOWN. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED; IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A PROBLEM LAY WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY TURNED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FELT LOOSE AND WAS SHIFTING ABOUT A QUARTER INCH IN EACH DIRECTION. HE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO LOSE POWER STEERING WHILE MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD BECOME STIFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED WHENEVER HE OPERATED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WOULD READ INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE CONTACT LOCATED A RECALL THAT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK) HOWEVER THE DEALER ADVISED HIM VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE FUEL SENSOR HAS NOT BEEN REPLACES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 43,008. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER READ 1/4 OF TANK OF GAS REMAINING AND SUDDENLY ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER MY HUSBAND EXHAUSTED ALL EFFORTS TRYING TO DETECT THE PROBLEM, HE PUT GAS IN IT TO SEE IF THAT WAS IT (BECAUSE GAUGE WAS READING 1/4 OF TANK REMAINING.) AFTER PUTTING GAS IN, CAR STARTED AND WE DROVE IT HOME. WENT TO GAS STATION TO FILL UP WITH GAS AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND GAS GAUGE NO LONGER WORKS PROPERLY. I USUALLY GET 330 MILES TO TANK OF GAS AND NOW THE GAS LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON AFTER GOING 200 MILES ON A TANK. NISSAN DEALERSHIP WANTS $500 TO REPAIR AND AS IT TURNS OUT, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND NOT KNOW IF YOUR VEHICLE IS GOING TO SHUT OFF BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE GAS IN IT (WHEN YOU DO HAVE GAS IN IT...JUST NOT ENOUGH FOR SOME SENSOR IN YOUR GAS TANK TO RECOGNIZE.) I HAVE HELD OFF ON PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR BECAUSE I WANT NISSAN TO RECALL THIS FUEL ISSUE AND REPAIR IT. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL NISSAN CUSTOMER (2 MAXIMAS BEFORE THIS PATHFINDER) BUT THIS IS STARTING TO CHANGE MY MIND. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. FUEL GAUGE IS NOT REGISTERING PROPERLY. FILLED TANK, GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER FULL TANK. WILL RUN OUT OF GAS IF GAUGE NOT REGISTERING PROPERLY. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME GAS IS PUT IN CAR SES LIGHT COMES ON AND GAUGE DOESN'T REGISTER FULL. DEALER WAS GOING TO REPLACE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT BUT WE ELECTED NOT TO REPLACE BECAUSE OF COST. CALLED NISSAN - OTHER 2006 PATHFINDERS QUALIFY FOR REPLACEMENT UNDER RECALL BUT THEY SAY MY VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER CURRENT RECALL. *TR
