TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN HE ADDED GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK TO ITS CAPACITY, THE GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS STILL EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO RECALL 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STORAGE AUXILIARY TANK). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000.
I WAS IN A FRONT IN CAR ACCIDENT GOING AROUND 45-50MPH AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO THE LACK OF FUEL. THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING AND WOULD FLUCTUATE FROM A HALF TANK TO A QUARTER OF TANK, EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS AND EACH TIME THE FUEL LEVER SENSOR WAS REPLACED. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK). THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND UPON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM LOOK INTO I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE DTE WERE READING IMPROPERLY. I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK FULL AND THE GAUGE WAS READING EMPTY AND THE DTE HAD ALL -------. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON FURTHER SEARCHING HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS TO THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
APPROXIMATELY SEPT OF 2008, THE STEERING WHEEL OF OUR 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER STARTED BECOMING EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT, ALMOST TO THE POINT THAT I COULD NOT TURN. I WOULD DREAD HAVING TO MAKE A TURN. THEN A GRINDING SOUND STARTED AND A CLICKING, AND HAS SINCE GONE AWAY. NOW, OUR STEERING WHEEL CAN MOVE UP AND DOWN WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. IT IS VERY LOOSE AND IS BECOMING A HAZARD. THE CRUISE ALSO SHUTS ITSELF OFF WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO 2 NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN HAS TO BE REPLACED - BUT NISSAN WILL NOT REPLACE THIS OR HELP WITH THE COST - AROUND $800 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TOLD US THERE IS A SAFETY BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT A RECALL, YET. IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING COLUMN, SHOULDN'T THIS BE REPLACED BY RECALL BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAS HAPPENED? WE HAVE REQUESTED IN WRITING FROM NISSAN THAT THEY (NISSAN) IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THIS PART. MY FUEL TANK WAS ABOUT 1/2 FULL AND NOTICED THAT MY DTE READ ---- FROM THAT POINT ON IT EITHER READS 0 OR ---. AT TIMES IT EVEN FLUCTUATES THE MILES LEFT ON THE DTE. MY WIFE [XXX] PURCHASED OUR NISSAN PATHFINDER 2006, HER FATHER [XXX] COSIGNED FOR HER. WE HAD A 36,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE. AT 40K THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING IN LATE 2008, I TOOK IT BACK TO BENSON NISSAN IN EASLEY SC WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM NEW, THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS THE FUEL SENSOR INSIDE THE TANK AND WOULD COST US $700 TO FIX, AND WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF IT, AS THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT. I TALKED TO THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT AT NISSAN AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN I HEARD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, I QUICKLY CALLED THEM AGAIN SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, AFTER GIVING MY VIN # TO THEM THEY GOT BACK WITH ME AND TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL DID NOT COVER MY VEHICLE!...I ARGUED TO NO AVAIL....I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS NUMEROUS TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY, AND I KEEP THE MILAGE WRITTEN DOWN OVER MY VISOR TO TRY AND KEEP UP WITH IT. SOMETIMES IT WILL SHOW I HAVE GAS WHEN I DON'T, AND IT HAS BECOME TO DANGEROUS FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE IT SO I AM FORCED TO DRIVE IT ALL THE TIME. IT IS A CONCERN AND AN INCONVIENIENCE. AFTER FILLING UP, FUEL GAUGE READS 1/4 FULL AND DTE GIVES READING OF ----. HAPPENS EVERY TIME REFILL FOR THE LAST MONTH. VEHICLE HAS 46K MILES. FRIEND HAS A 2006 XTERRA THAT HAD SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WERE TOLD TO REPLACE SENDING UNIT MODULE. *TR
I AM WRITING ABOUT MY RECENT EXPERIENCE WITH NISSAN REGARDING A RECALL ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER, WHICH I PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2008 AS A PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. THE RECALL WITH THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER OF 10V075000 INVOLVES A FLAW WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM NISSAN REGARDING THIS RECALL, WHICH NISSAN STATES IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SOMETIME AGO.THREE WEEKS AGO I WAS DOING RESEARCH ONLINE TO TRY AND FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.THAT IS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED ORR NISSAN IN BOSSIER CITY 318-752-3000, SINCE THAT IS THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE PATHFINDER FROM. I SPOKE TO MIKE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED, BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER 72,000 MILES AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME AROUND $600 HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE RECALL, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WITHIN THE MILEAGE SPECIFIED WHEN I CONTACTED THEM. I TOOK THE NEXT STEP AND CALLED NISSAN USA AT 1-800-647-7261 AND SPOKE TO [XXX] AT EXT#[XXX]. [XXX] TOLD ME THAT THE REASON I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED WAS DUE TO AN ERROR ON NISSAN'S PART, SINCE THEY NEVER ENTERED MY INFORMATION INTO THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM DESIGNATING ME AS THE NEW OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. SO, THE NOTICE WAS SENT OUT TO THE PRIOR OWNERS WHOM LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE. AT THAT POINT SHE OPENED A CASE FOR ME WITH THE CASE #[XXX]. I WAS CONTACTED BY [XXX] FROM 1-800-343-6913 EXT#[XXX], WHO TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO HONOR THE RECALL AND MAKE THE REPAIR, BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE MY PATHFINDER SERVICED AT NISSAN. HE THEN SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF. WELL, I HAVE TAKEN IT IN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE, THEY DID NOT SPOT IT ON EITHER OCCASION. BUT, EVEN IF I HAD NEVER TAKEN IT TO THEM FOR MAINTENANCE, I SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR SERVICING MY OWN VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS FAULTY. THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THAT THERE WAS FUEL IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE TANK WAS EMPTY. OCCASIONALLY, WHEN THE CONTACT ADDED GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT INDICATE THAT FUEL WAS ADDED. THE CONTACTS VEHICLE STALLED THREE TIMES BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF FUEL AND THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED OTHERWISE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. THE CONTACT REFUELED THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO RESOLVE THE FAILURE MOMENTARILY BEFORE RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE FUEL SENSOR. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR ABNORMALLY. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY COOLING FLUID LEAKING INTO THE RADIATOR. THE DEALER THEN PERFORMED A TRANSMISSION SYSTEM FLUSH AND THE FAILURE WAS RESOLVED. ONE YEAR LATER AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE SYSTEM HAD FAILED. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LEAK OF COOLING FLUID INTO THE RADIATOR SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY IT TOOK TWO YEARS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THEIR VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED TWO YEARS PRIOR TO THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WHEN EVERY TIME HE FILLED THE GAS TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED ONLY ONE QUARTER FULL, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *JB
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. CONSUMER REQUESTS THAT WARRANTIES BE APPLICABLE TO HIS VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS OPERATING SPORADICALLY. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE WARRANTY MILES. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A WARRANTY NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL WHICH STATED HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN 80,000 MILES OR LESS WARRANTY. ON MARCH 24, 2008 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ODOR OF ANTI-FREEZE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE RADIATOR AND IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. IN APRIL 2008, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE, BECAUSE HE CONTINUED TO SMELL ANTI-FREEZE. THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE BOTH TIMES, BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE RADIATOR AND COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAKS.
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE GAS GAUGE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR OVER A YEAR. I'VE NOTICED MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I'VE READ THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SENDING UNIT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WAS PURCHASED NEW IN SEPT 2006. IN 2008 WITH APPROXIMATELY 53,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED WHICH RESULTED IN MY GAS GAUGE NOT READING AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMING ON. MASSACHUSETTS WILL NOT PASS FOR INSPECTION A VEHICLE WITH A SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON. NISSAN STATED THAT WHILE THE FUEL PUMP IS PART OF THE POWER TRAIN, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS NOT AND THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE FIX WAS TO BE OVER $400 TO THE NISSAN DEALER. AFTER WRITING TO MR GOSHEN, NISSAN NORTH AMERICA PRESIDENT, IT WAS EVENTUALLY COVERED. I HAVE KIDS AND WITH THE GAS GAUGE NOT READING, I RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY, DESPITE MY BEST ATTEMPTS TO TRACK MILES DRIVEN AND RELATE IT TO THE GAS LEVEL. NISSAN HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN AND KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FORCE A RECALL AS THOUSANDS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH XTERRAS, PATHFINDERS AND FRONTIERS. SOMEONE WILL BE HURT OR WORSE BY THEIR NEGLECT OF CONSUMERS.*TR
STARTING IN JANUARY 2008, THE GAS GAUGE 0F MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WORKS ERRATICALLY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SOON AFTER. WESTERNAUTO CHECKED THE FAILURE, AND FOUND FUEL SENSOR ERROR. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON NISSAN PATHFINDER FORUM, ALL WITH SIMILAR/IDENTICAL PROBLEM. JUST ADDING MY NAME TO THE LIST REQUESTING NISSAN ADDRESS THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE THE RISK OF RUN OUT OF GAS.
A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2007, I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, MY FRONT-AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ALTHOUGH THE AIR-BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND IS STILL ON TILL THIS DAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A NISSAN DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE THE AIRBAG SENSOR WIRING HARNESS WAS DAMAGED. I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER IF THE AIRBAG SENSOR WOULD COME ON EVEN THOUGHT HE AIR-BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE AIRBAG SENSOR WIRING HARNESS WAS DAMAGED EVENTHOUGH THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THERE IS A CURRENT A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG SENSOR FOR THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE AIR-BAG SENSOR WAS COVERED UNDER THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE SENSOR. HOWEVER, WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPLACED THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE SENSOR CAME ON AS OF A RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SENSOR RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIR-BAG SENSOR LIGHT IS STILL ON EVENTHOUGH THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THIS SEEMS LIKE SOME SORT OF FAILURE IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. *TR
FOUR YEARS AGO I HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 PATHFINDER STALLING WHILE DRIVING, SO I TOOK IT TOO A DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A PROBLEM IN MY TANK. TO MAKE IT SHORT. I SPENT OVER A $1000 DOLLARS TO GET IT FIXED. IT SOUND LIKE RECALL ID# 10V07500 PATHFINDER FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILLARY TANK RECALL ' ID# 19956. I HAVE THE DEALERS NAME AND NUMBER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT APPLYING EXTREME FORCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR HAD BROKEN AWAY FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, IT PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARDS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT'S SON SUSTAINED A SHOULDER INJURY AS HE ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CROSSED THE STREET AND ROLLED INTO A DITCH. ROSSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT FILED CASE NUMBER 070703509. NISSAN SENT AN INSPECTOR TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE TOW YARD TO THE DEALER. THE INSPECTOR FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND NISSAN STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A BODY SHOP FOR REPAIR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 21,013.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TWO WEEKS LATER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS A SHORT IN THE CLUSTER AND THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED FROM PUERTO RICO. THE PART ARRIVED A WEEK AND A HALF LATER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE CLUSTER. ONE WEEK LATER, THE ODOMETER BEGAN TO DISPLAY THE INCORRECT MILEAGE. THE ODOMETER WAS LATER REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE AS SOON AS IT WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE TENSION BELT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BELT, BUT LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. THE BELT WAS REPLACED AGAIN, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNSURE IF THE REPLACEMENT PART WOULD BE DEFECTIVE AS WELL. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, SPEED, AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,566 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 693.
FOR ALL THOSE REPORTING THE SWAYING ASSOCIATED WITH THE 1996 NISSAN PATHFINDER, I HAVE A NISSAN TERRANO WHICH LOOKS VERY MUCH LIKE THE PATHFINDER. I EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SWAYING FROM THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 40 MPH. I HAVE TRIED EVERY MECHANIC I KNOW, CHANGED MY SHOCKS, AND YOU NAME IT...LATELY, I WOULD HEAR A THUMP IN THE REAR WHEN I PULLED OFF FROM STOP POSITION. THE THUMP ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I RUN OVER A SHORT SPEED BUMP. WHEN I CAME HOME ONE EVENING, I WENT UNDER THE VEHICLE TO CONDUCT A VISUAL INSPECTION TO SEE IF I WILL FIND ANYTHING. LO AND BEHOLD, I FOUND OUT THAT THE BUSHINGS OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE WORN OUT TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY ARE BREAKING UP(THE BUSHINGS) WHICH ALLOWS METAL TO RUB OR HIT ANOTHER METAL AND THAT EXPLAINS THE THUMP THAT I WILL USUALLY HEAR. IN MY OPINION THE WORN OUT BUSHINGS ALSO EXPLAIN THE SWAYING THAT SEEMS TO COME FROM THE REAR BECAUSE JUST FIGURE IT OUT, THE BUSHINGS OF THE ARMS THAT LINK THE REAR AXLE TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE ARE WEAK, BUT THIS WILL NOT CAUSE SWAYING AT LOW SPEEDS, AND EVEN IF IT DID IT WILL BE UN-NOTICEABLE. THIS SWAYING AT HIGH SPEEDS IS DIFFICULT TO TELL SOMETIMES IF IT IS COMING FROM THE REAR OR FRONT. MY ADVISE IS TO CHANGE ESPECIALLY THE BUSHINGS OF THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS, THERE SHOULD BE FOUR OF THEM, TWO LONG ONES AND TWO SHORT ONES. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TIRE FAILURE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIRE FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS LESS THAN 7,000 MILES. THE TIRE SHOWS CRACKS THROUGHOUT THE TIRE NOT JUST ON THE SPOT OF FAILURE. THE OTHER TIRE HAD THE SAME VISIBLE CRACKS BUT THE TIRE RETAILER CLAIMED THAT TIRE FAILED DUE TO ROAD HAZARD. THE VEHICLE IS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER 4X4. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTENTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WERE STOLEN. IN ORDER TO FUEL THE VEHICLE, ALL THE LOCKS MUST BE UNLOCKED. THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER STATED THIS WAS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, A POPPING NOISE WAS HEARD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING BACKWARD, A TICKING NOISE WAS HEARD. IT ROLLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND CLIPPED ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE CONTACT'S DRIVEWAY. A PASSENGER HAD A MINOR INJURY TO THE ARM. THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT BACK WILL NOT HOLD A CONSTANT POSITION. THE SEAT GRADUALLY MOVES FORWARD ON ITS OWN AND IS NEVER IN THE SAME POSITION WHEN YOU GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM BECAUSE THE SEAT NEEDS READJUSTED EVERY TIME YOU SIT DOWN TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ORDERED A NEW SWITCH 4 WEEKS AGO AND CLAIMS THAT IT IS OWN BACK ORDER.
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. AFTER HEARING ABOUT MANY TRANSMISSION ISSUES DUE TO A FAULTY RADIATOR/SEAL, I DECIDED TO BE PROACTIVE SINCE I ONLY HAVE 41,000 MILES AND ONE YEAR REMAINING ON MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I CALLED NISSAN USA INFORMING THEM OF MY CONCERN, AND TO SEE IF THERE WAS A FIX IN PLACE BEFORE MY WARRANTY WAS UP IN ONE YEAR. THE WOMAN INFORMED ME THAT UNLESS THERE WAS A SPECIFIC PROBLEM AT THIS TIME, NOTHING COULD BE DONE. I WAS CALLING TO TRY TO SAVE THEM FROM AN UPCOMING ISSUES/REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. I ALSO CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND HE HEARD ABOUT THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT NO FIX OR RECALL IS IN PLACE. AFTER OWNING MULTIPLE NISSANS OVER THE PAST 15 YEARS, THIS NEW WAS DISHEARTENING. ON JULY 6, 2006 > 5 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY BRAND NEW NISSAN PATHFINDER LE. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO TIGHTEN. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS BECOMING HARD FOR ME TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION TO CHANGE LANES. WHICH WAS SCARY BECAUSE I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. I WAS ABLE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER AND BY THE TIME I GOT THERE I COULD BARELY TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO TURN IN. WHEN THEY EXAMINED THE CAR THEY FOUND THE UPPER BEARING IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS SHEARING AND HAD COME APART. I WAS LUCKY I WAS CLOSE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND NOT TOO FAR AWAY FROM HOME OR DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WERE I COULD NOT PULL OVER. THEY HAD MY CAR IN THERE OVER A WEEK AND A HALF WHICH WAS A BIG INCONVENIENCE BECAUSE THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS LOCATING THE PART AND I WAS GETTING A RUN AROUND ABOUT IT. I WOULD CALL AND THEY WOULD NOT CALL ME BACK FOR A DAY OR TWO. THEN I WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THE NEW PATHFINDERS AND THEY HAD MADE A NEWER PART FOR IT THAT WOULD NOT COME APART. SO THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN WITH A NEW ONE AND SO FAR IT HAS DRIVEN GREAT. I BOUGHT MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE NEW FROM THE DEALER. WITHIN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: THE BACK OF THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT FELL OFF. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THERE WERE BROKEN CLIPS. THEY ORDERED A NEW SEAT-BACK AND INSTALLED IT. A WEEK OR SO AFTER THIS, THERE WAS A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE REAR AIR WAS ON FULL-BLAST. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. DEALER REPLACED A FINISHING CLIP AND RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. DURING THIS VISIT TO THE DEALER, I ALSO POINTED OUT HOW THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LOOSE. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T SEE A PROBLEM. BEING THAT THIS "LOOSE" STEERING WHEEL WAS BECOMING ANNOYING, I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS WITH THE STEERING. A TECH CONFIRMED MY COMPLAINT AND ARE NOW ORDERING A NEW STEERING COLUMN. *NM
FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED CAUSING FUEL GAUGE TO IMPROPERLY SHOWING CORRECT FUEL LEVELS. POSSIBLE CHANCE OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL DUE TO INCORRECT READINGS. AND CUASING THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON THE ROAD OR TO OTHERS SAFTY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES ON SEVERAL VEHICLES AND THIS WILL BE MY SECOND ONE. CODE ON DIAGNOSTICS P0463. DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT FAILURE OCCURS EVERY DAY FUEL GAUGE WOULD HAVE FALSE READINGS HAVING EITHER NO GAS NOR ACCURATE READINGS OF FUEL COULD CAUSE ENGINE STALL THEREFORE A CRASH. 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WAS TAKEN TODAY FOR A ROUTINE YEARLY INSPECTION. ONLY ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH IT IS THE HEATER PERIODICALLY DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY. AT THE NISSAN DEALER, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE VEHICLE IS IN NEED OF AN ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT A "COOLING LINE IS BROKEN AND ALL ANTIFREEZE MIXED IN WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID". ESTIMATED COST IS $7000. IN ADDITION, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDS REPLACED. THE REPAIRMAN INDICATED "MANY" PATHFINDERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. AFTER SEARCHING ON-LINE, THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ANGRY THAT THEIR PATHFINDERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, YET NISSAN IS STILL NOT ASSUMING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OF THIS. I ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS IS QUITE DISCONCERTING, AS THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD, AND I AM NOW BEING TOLD I SHOULDN'T EVEN BE DRIVING IT. THEY ARE OFFERING TO HELP ONLY BY GIVING US A GREAT DEAL ON A TRADE. HOWEVER, I NO LONGER TRUST NISSAN, AND WOULD NOT TRADE FOR ANOTHER NISSAN. I GOT THIS VEHICLE FROM NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON 3-11-2006. THIS DEALERSHIP DID FRAUD. FIRST OF ALL THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO MILES ON IT BUT IT DID HAD MILES ON IT AND PLENTY OF THEM. THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG CAR. THE CAR THEY SHOWED ME THAT I WAS GOING TO RECEIVED IS NOT THE CAR I RECEIVED. WHEN I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WAS TOO LATE. THIS DEALERSHIP IS A COMPLETE LIAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT GETS BUSINESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. I WANT TO CANCEL THE PURCHASE OF THIS CAR. *JB
