2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER LE GAS GAUGE READ 1/4 TANK ON MY WAY TO WORK WITH BABY IN CAR, RAN OUT OF GAS WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD 1/4 TANK. BROUGHT IT TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. AT A RED LIGHT LAST NIGHT WITH 1/2 TANK (ACCORDING TO GAUGE) ALL OF THE SUDDEN GAS LOW LEVEL LIGHT FLASHES AND DTE READS---- APPARENTLY DEALERSHIP DID NOT DO WHAT THEY SAID THEY DID OR PROBLEM LIES ELSEWHERE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHER NISSAN OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED PLAIN AND SIMPLE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WOULD NOT READ ACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE INDICATOR WOULD READ THE FUEL TANK AS FULL WHEN IN ACTUALITY THE FUEL TANK WOULD BE EMPTY. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FUEL SENSOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK), THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 60,000.
FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. INCONSISTENT. FAULTY PART APPEARS OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM SOMETIMES WORKS PROPERLY AND OTHER TIMES REPORTS EMPTY TANK ALTHOUGH GAS TANK FULL. *TR
INSTRUMENT FUEL GAUGE SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON THE VEHICLE ONE YEAR AGO BECAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT READING ACCURATE FUEL LEVELS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUOUSLY RUN OUT OF FUEL. THE CONTACT TRIED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TO ENSURE THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILLARY TANK). THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

MY 2006 PATHFINDER WITH 49K MILES, THE GAS GAUGE WENT TO COMPLETELY EMPTY. THE DTE READ ------ AFTER I FILLED THE GAS TANK COMPLETLY.THEN MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE GAS GAUGE AFTER ABOUT 10 MILES MOVED UP TO 1/2 TANK, BUT SERVICE LIGHT IS STILL ON. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND SERVICE BULLETIN NTB07-069A , WHICH SEEMS TO INDICATE THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL MODELS, INCLUDING XTERRA'S. I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND PULLED THE CODE PO463 WHICH CONFIRMED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS THE ISSUE. NOW TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY THEY APPARENTLY WON'T COVER IT. *TR
THE ENTIRE BRAKE PEDAL FELL OFF MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WHILE DRIVING. I HAD NO WAY TO STOP VEHICLE - HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, AND I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR THAT RUNS THE BRAKE PEDAL DIED AND IT ADJUSTED ITSELF OFF COMPLETELY. *TR
"I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND WENT TO FILL UP. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON THE CAR, AT WHICH POINT THE NEEDLE DID NOT REGISTER THE FULL TANK. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AFTER 30K MILES. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH, I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER(I HAVE TO YOUNG KIDS). IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 3 YRS AND WITH AROUND 57K. IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER!! WHY WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. PAID $300 FOR THE REPAIRS." *TR
I HAVE A NISSAN PATHFINDER (2006) AND AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG AROUND 50MPH, EVERYTHING DIED. THE GAUGES, BLINKERS, LIGHTS, ETC WENT DEAD. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT WORK. I HAD TO COAST OFF OF THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THEN, EVERY TIME I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 15 MILES. THERE IS ALSO A BURNING ODOR AND WHEN EVERYTHING DIES, THERE IS A HIGH-PITCHED STATIC SOUND THAT COMES THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. THE SCARY PART IS, I LOOSE ALL POWER FROM THE VEHICLE AND IF I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE OR TURNING IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, IT COULD BE FATAL. *TR
THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR DOES NOT WORK ON MY CAR. I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHEN MY CAR IS LOW ON FUEL OTHER THAN TO KEEP A RUNNING TAB ON HOW MANY MILES I HAVE DRIVEN SINCE THE LAST FILL UP OF FUEL. RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR TOTALLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND COULD NOT PULL OVER. SEVERAL CARS ALMOST RAN DIRECTLY INTO MY REAR AS IT HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY. I CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THE REASON MY CAR STOPPED WAS THAT I WAS OUT OF GAS AND HAD NO IDEA THAT MY FUEL WAS LOW (DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR DOES NOT WORK). MY HUSBAND HAS THE EXACT SAME MODEL VEHICLE AS I DO AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM. HE HAD NO IDEA THAT HE WAS LOW ON FUEL AND HIS CAR CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN EXTREMELY BUSY MAJOR ATLANTA EXPRESSWAY. HE HAD TO MANUALLY STEER HIS VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD AND AVOID BEING SMASHED INTO BY OTHER VEHICLES TRAVELING AT WELL OVER 65 MPH. SINCE DISCOVERING THIS WE BOTH TRY TO KEEP TRACK OF HOW MANY MILES WE'VE DRIVEN SINCE FILLING UP BUT WE NEVER KNOW ACCURATELY HOW MANY MILES WE CAN GET PER FILL UP. I'VE BEEN DOING RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND DOZENS UPON DOZENS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR NISSAN PATHFINDERS. EVEN THE REPAIR FACILITY WE TRIED TO TAKE IT TO WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS THEY HAVE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ALMOST WEEKLY. I FEAR THAT I COULD GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVE NO IDEA THAT I AM LOW ON FUEL. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT A MANUFACTURER RECALL IS IN ORDER AND THE NISSAN CORP IS PUTTING IT'S CONSUMERS IN HARMS WAY BY REFUSING TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. *TR

2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER - IN AUGUST THE FUEL GAUGE STOPS WORKING I HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. IN DECEMBER THE RADIATOR COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIX AND I HAVE TO REPLACE RADIATOR AND FLUSH TRANSMISSION FLUID. IN JANUARY THE IPMD MODULE GOES OUT, CAR GOES COMPLETELY DEAD ON FREEWAY AND ALMOST CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. IN FEBRUARY SES LIGHT GOES ON AGAIN THIS TIME CATALYTIC CONVERTER GOES BAD. FEBRUARY 24 COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING AGAIN TAKING TO SHOP TOMORROW. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE ISSUES, IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET YOU WILL DISCOVER THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER THAT JUST OUT OF THE BLUE, THE SERVICE ENGINE JUST CAME ON. I HAVE READ IN THE INTERNET, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT GASOLINE, A VERY FLAMMABLE AND EXPLOSIVE LIQUID, COMBINE THAT WITH A DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL FUEL SENSOR AND WE ARE TALKING FIRE OR WORST. NISSAN IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS, EXCEPT TELLING PEOPLE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. MY NISSAN JUST WENT OVER 39, 000 MILES, HOW CONVENIENT, OUT OF WARRANTY. THE GAS GAUGE OF MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WILL NOT REGISTER A CORRECT AMOUNT AND THE SES LIGHT COMES ON AFTER I FILL THE TANK. THEN THE GAUGE DROPS TO 0 AND THE LIGHTS START TO FLASH THAT THERE IS NO GAS. I OWN A 2006 PATHFINDER AND BASED ON RESEARCH DONE ONLINE, IT'S APPALLING TO SEE HOW MANY FOLKS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLE. I FILLED UP MY TANK ON 6/19, BUT FUEL GAUGE DIDN'T MOVE FROM HALF TANK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SOON CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER DISCUSSING WITH THE DEALER, IT'S GOING TO COST ABOUT $600 TO FIX THIS WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM ON THE PATHFINDERS, XTERRAS AND FRONTIERS. THE ISSUE IS A FUEL SENDER SENSOR THAT CAN REDUCE OR STOP GAS FROM FLOWING INTO THE ENGINE. THIS IS A PART FAILURE THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY NISSAN BEFORE ANYONE IS INJURED OR RESULTS IN DEATH DUE TO VEHICLE STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. TO READ THAT MOST FOLKS ARE NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM DUE TO THE FINANCIAL IS JUST AS FREIGHTING, BUT I'M IN TOTAL AGREEMENT. WHY SHOULD ANYONE HAVE TO PAY FOR A KNOWN AND DEFECTIVE PART ON A VEHICLE THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH LITTLE OVER 40K MILES. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS, GOING BACK TO 2000. NISSAN FINALLY RECALLED THE 2000 THROUGH 2004 MODELS. THEY NEED TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE 2005 THROUGH 2009 MODELS. IN THIS SITE ALONE THERE ARE OVER 45 COMPLAINTS ON THE 2006 PATHFINDER. THAT IS ON 2006 MODEL YEAR ALONE. SEARCHING THROUGH OTHER FORUMS, THE COMPLAINTS LITTER WEB PAGES ON THE SAME PROBLEM ACROSS THE NATION. SOMEONE OFFERED A SOLUTION TO PULL THE NEGATIVE WIRE FROM THE BATTERY WHICH WOULD RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TURN IT OFF. THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, IT PROLONGS IT AND GIVES A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. *TR
2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS STOPPED 3 TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, CAR WILL NOT RE-START, HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP ALL 3 TIMES. FUEL SENSOR REPLACED, IN THE SHOP NOW FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THE THIRD TIME. *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO MY WIFE WENT TO FILL UP OUR 2006 PATHFINDER AND WHEN SHE FINISHED THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED ONLY HALF FILL. SHE WENT TO ANOTHER GAS STATION TRIED TO FILL IT UP BUT IT ONLY TOOK ANOTHER DOLLAR. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED UP NISSAN WHO SAID IT WAS THE SENDING UNIT IN THE GAS TANK AND WOULD BE APX $600 TO FIX. I SAW OTHER LOGS OF XTERRAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A RECALL. OUR CAR WAS JUST PAST THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY. IF THIS WERE THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR I'D PAY TO GET IT FIXED. BUT I'VE HAD ANOTHER BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'VE GONE THROUGH 3 SETS OF ROTORS AND I'M ON MY 3RD SET OF TIRES. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK BROKE AND TO BE BROUGHT IN TWICE, AND THE BOSE SYSTEM HAS A CD STUCK WHICH I CAN'T GET OUT. THIS HAPPENED ONLY AFTER WE OWNED IT A FEW MONTHS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 51,000 MILES THAT HAS JUST ENCOUNTERED AN BAD FUEL SENDING UNIT. ERROR CODE P0463. SINCE IT HAS PASSED THE 3YR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY, I AM GOING TO BE PAYING ABOUT $500 TO GET IT FIXED. I'M WRITING TO REQUEST THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE A STEERING COLUMN ISSUE ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE TO SEE IF THE ISSUE FALLS UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN & PASSENGER AIR BAG FASTENER CAMPAIGN #10V-115. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 2006. THE STEERING ISSUE WAS FIRST REPORTED ON 9/14/06 TO A NISSAN TECHNICIAN. I NOTICED WHEN STOPPING THE VEHICLE A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. ON 6/03/09, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER NISSAN DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN FOR ADDITIONAL WORK AND AGAIN THE TECHNICIAN WAS ASKED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 8/2/13, AT A DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE SQUEAKING NOISE OR WHY THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT ALL THREE SERVICES MENTIONED ABOVE WERE COMPLETED AT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND THE SERVICES WERE WITHIN THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. IN LATE SUMMER 2014, I NOTICED THE STEERING COLUMN BEING VERY LOOSE. ON 09/11/14, I ALERTED A NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN OF THE PROBLEM. AT THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS 3,000 MILES OUTSIDE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE STEERING COLUMN ISSUE CONTINUED AND ON 11/7/14, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR MORE STEERING COLUMN TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE VEHICLE?S POWER STEERING RACK IS BREAKING APART. I SOUGHT A SECOND OPINION AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY IS FAILING. AFTER EIGHT YEARS OF INQUIRY THE ISSUE IS NOW DIAGNOSED. STEERING COLUMN - IT IS TOO LOOSE AND WHEN TURNING TO THE FAR RIGHT OR LEFT IT MAKES A CLACKING NOISE. IF NHTSA, DETERMINES THAT MY VEHICLE?S ISSUES FALL UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN & PASSENGER AIR BAG FASTENER CAMPAIGN #10V-115, THEN I WOULD LIKE FOR A LOCAL DEALER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE TO ME. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER. IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YRS AND WITH AROUND 39K-49K. I PURCHASED AN AFTER-MARKET ENGINE COLD AIR INTAKE FOR MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AFTER I INSTALLED THE INTAKE A PIECE OF METAL FROM THE INTAKE BROKE OF AND GOT LODGED IN THE THROTTLE OF MY VEHICLE DURING A TRIP TO LOS ANGELES, CA. THE METAL PIECE CAUSED MY CAR'S ENGINE TO STALL THE DIE COMPLETELY ON THE FREEWAY WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET MY VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC IN BARSTOW, CA WHO REMOVED THE METAL DEBRIS FROM THE THROTTLE. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE METAL HAD BROKEN LOOSE FROM INSIDE THE INTAKE. WHEN I REMOVED THE INTAKE AND EXAMINED THE INSIDE I FOUND MORE PIECES OF METAL READY TO BREAK FREE. THE METAL FRAGMENTS WERE LEFT HANGING AND CLEANED UP AFTER THE METAL WAS CUT AND THE O2 SENSOR FITTING WAS WELDED ON. *TR

IN JULY 2010, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN STATING A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED REGARDING THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. ONLY JULY 15, 2010, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED. SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FULLY, DASHBOARD AIRBAGS DID NOT. THE AIRBAGS WERE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, BUT THERE REPAIR ONLY CORRECTED THE WARNING LIGHT BUT ITS OPERATION WAS STILL FLAWED. STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THIS MADE STEERING DIFFICULT. WHEEL WOULD NOT RETURN TO STRAIGHT POSITION WITH OUT HELP. I THINK THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. TOOK SUV TO DEALER WHO REPLACED THE STEERING COL. NISSAN DID NOT PAY ANY OF THE REPAIR COST BECAUSE SUV HAD 43, 000 MILES. I KEPT THE OLD PARTS JUST TO PROVE PROBLEM. I THOUGHT THAT NISSAN WOULD PAY SOME OF THE REPAIR COST BUT THEY DID NOT. THEY BELIEVED THIS WAS A NORMAL WEAR. FIRST ONE I HAVE HAD! I HAVE DRIVEN CARS AND PU TRUCKS OVER 750,000 MILE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED BY NISSAN. DOES THE MANUFACTURER PAY FOR THESE PROBLEMS.
