VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF THE BAD TIMING CHAIN/TENSIONER ISSUE REPORTED BY MANY OTHER CONSUMERS. THE REPAIR WILL BE EXPENSIVE FOR A COMPONENT THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. SHOULD THE COMPONENT FAIL AND RESULT IN CATOSTROPHIC DAMAGE WHILE DRIVING, THIS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE VEHICLE INSTABILITY AND LOSS OF CONTROL
PURCHASED PATHFINDER IN 2013 WITH 140,000 MILES FROM A DEALERSHIP. AFTER LESS THAN 3 YEARS AND 20,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAS GONE AND IT WILL COST OVER 4,000 TO FIX WHILE I AM STILL FINANCING OVER 9,000 FOR IT. ALL EXTENDED WARRANTY DEADLINES AND LIMITATIONS HAVE EXPIRED BEFORE I HAD EVEN PURCHASED THE CAR. IT IS AMAZING THAT FOR SUCH A SEVERE ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN DETRIMENTAL TO MANY BASED ON MY RESEARCH, THAT NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE MORE REALISTIC AND HELPFUL WARRANTY STANDARDS. I AM NOT A LOSS AT WHAT TO DO AND NISSAN OR DEALERSHIP HAS OFFERED ANY HELP.
RADIATOR LEAKS TO THE TRANSMISSION AND FUME LIKE WHITE MILKY COMING OUT OF THE RADIATOR WHEN WE OPEN IT AND THE SAME STUFF FOUND INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. LICENSE MECHANIC WAS CONSULTED AND HE FOUND THAT RADIATOR WAS LEAKING TO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH DAMAGE BOTH RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION AND I WILL NEED NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THIS 2006 PATHFINDER AND RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.ACCORDING TO MY INTERNET RESEARCH ON THIS PARTICULAR 2006 PATHFINDER MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINED EXPRIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. NISSAN HAD AN AGREEMENT TO HELP COVER COSTS BUT IT ONLY COVERED VEHICLES WITH LESS THE 100K MILES.
ON 8/11/2015 I CONTACTED NISSAN REGIONAL TO FILE A COMPLAINT, 19756783, ABOUT A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE TRUCK IN TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BUT WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY A $139.99 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I DIDN'T HAVE THOSE FUNDS AT THE TIME. MY TRUCK IS NOW STARTING TO SHOW SIGNS OF JERKING WHILE DRIVING. A MONTH AGO , I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR FLUIDS MAY BE MIXING TOGETHER. AUTO MECHANIC SAID THE FLUIDS LOOKED MILKY. I DRIVE MY FOUR CHILDREN , AGES 11 MONTHS TO 8 YEARS OF AGE ON A DAILY BASIS TO AND FROM SCHOOL AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. WE HAVE FAMILY IN THE KENOSHA, WISCONSIN AREA WHICH WE OFTEN FREQUENT. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGH SPEED. WHENEVER I HAVE TO GO FAR, I DRIVE OUR SEDAN WHICH SEATS 5 PASSENGERS, YET THERE ARE 6 PEOPLE IN OUR FAMILY. I AM AWARE THIS IS NOT SAFE, HOWEVER I FEEL THAT IT IS SAFER THAN DRIVING MY TRUCK WHICH CAN STALL AT ANY TIME NOW. AT THIS TIME, OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FIRST PRIORITY AND WE WANT TO PREVENT ANY MISHAPS TO HAPPEN. WE DON'T WANT TO BE STRANDED WITH OUR FOUR CHILDREN. I HAVE MY TRUCK MAINTENANCED QUITE OFTEN BECAUSE I TAKE PRIDE IN DRIVING A NISSAN. I DON'T WANT TO MY EXPERIENCE FROM NISSAN TO GO FROM POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE. NISSAN, PLEASE LISTEN TO MY CONCERN AS WELL AS OTHERS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THE $3,000 DEDUCTIBLE YOU ARE ASKING FOR TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACED. WE ARE ON A FIXED INCOME AS MY HUSBAND IS THE ONLY BREAD-WINNER IN OUR HOME. PLEASE HELP.....
I HAVE A NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 88,000 MILES ON IT. SOMEHOW COOLANT LEAKED INTO MY TRANSMISSION CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE. NISSAN IS TELLING ME OH WELL SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS UP AT 5YRS 60,000 MILES. I'VE HEARD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND THAT THEY AREN'T DOING ANYTHING TO HELP. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS??? THANKS!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM IF THE VEHICLE NEEDED THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT COOLANT FROM THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
VEHICLE STALLED ON HIGHWAY/ WAS ALMOST HIT BY TRACTOR TRAILER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND JERKED BEFORE MOVING FORWARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
RADIATOR HAS BEEN LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS CAUSED IT TO FAIL.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THERE WAS ONE QUARTER OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED ON ANOTHER OCCASION THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
BEWARE 2006 PATHFINDERS RADIATOR PROBLEMS THEN TRANSMISSION DIES. OUR TRANSMISSION WENT SUDDENLY AS WE WERE ON A MINI TRIP. WE GOT STUCK SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET HOME. VERY DANGEROUS. THANK GOD WE DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND NO ONE HIT US AS WE WERE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. WE WERE LUCKY WE GOT HOME SAFELY BUT IT WAS A SCARY AND DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. WE THEN GET IT TOWED AND OF CAUSE ITS THE TRANSMISSION. SAME PROBLEM EVERYONE IS HAVING WITH THESE CARS. NISSAN SHOULD OF HAD THESE CARS RECALLED OR EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES SO THAT NO ONE HAS TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM AND GO THROUGH THE HELL WE WENT THROUGH ON OUR MINI TRIP TRYING TO GET HOME SAFELY. THEY ARE RISKING PEOPLE'S LIVES.
IT WAS ON SATURDAY AUG 8TH, WHILE ON A FAMILY WEEK END GET AWAY, WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN THE CARPOOL LANE OF THE FREEWAY, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP AND JUMP A COUPLE OF TIMES.. I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL WITH NO MOVEMEN, I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO, SO I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND PUT IT IN 44 FEARING FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY THAT WAS WITH ME, I GOT IT TO MOVE AND PULLED IT OVER TO CENTER DEVIDER. I TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND TOOK IT OUT OF 4X4 AND LET IT SET FOR A FEW MINUTES. WE WERE GOING TO CALL AAA, BUT I DECIDED TO TRY IT AGAIN, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY SAFELY. THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO, I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT AROUND MY HOUSE AND HAVEN'T HAD THAT HAPPEN AGAIN. I AM HESITATING TAKING IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I WAS JUST THERE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER. $1850
I AM AN ACTIVE DUTY MARINE AND HAVE SERVED FOR OVER 20 YEARS. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE I WAS AWAY ON BUSINESS MY WIFE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THE CAR WAS ACTING UP. UPON MY RETURN I TEST DROVE THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATION AFTER I CAME TO A STOP. SOON AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE AUTO SHOP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND FOUND OUT THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION OIL MIXED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO NISSAN AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER THIS PROBLEM; BUT I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE AND THEY WOULD NOT BE COVER MY VEHICLE. WE RECENTLY PAID OFF THE CAR; HOWEVER, NOW I AM STUCK WITH THIS TICKING TIME BOMB. THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION VERY FREQUENTLY. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON TO GET IT BACK TO NORMAL. WHILE I AM DRIVING IT, I COULD FEEL THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGE. IT SOMETIME FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING OVER A BUMPY ROAD. IT MAY STOP WORKING ANYTIME. I AM GETTING READY TO DEPLOY AND I AM STUCK WITH SOME TOUGH DECISIONS. BUY A REPLACEMENT CAR, PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX THIS CAR, OR DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT STOPS WORKING. I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE MY WIFE AND SON WITH THIS PROBLEM WHILE I AM GONE. PLEASE HELP.
MY CARS RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MIX OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION AND QUITE POSSIBLY DAMAGED MY ENGINE. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THE RADIATOR BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON IT. THE REPAIRS FOR THIS INCIDENT ARE HIGH THE NISSAN DEALER I TOOK IT TO QUOTED ME $4,591.43 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR AND THAT IS WITH THE WARRANTY THEY CLAIM THEY HAVE ON IT. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME ANY OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED BY THIS FAULTY RADIATOR WOULD NOT BE COVERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS TO ANY OTHER COMPONENTS AS WELL THEY TOLD THEY ME MIGHT BE AN ADDITIONAL $2,000 SO NEARLY $7,000. I HAD KNOW CHOICE BUT SELL THE CAR OFF AS SCRAP AS THE REPAIRS WOULD COST MORE THAN THE CAR ITSELF. A FAILURE OF ALL THESE PARTS AT ONCE IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO EVERYONE.
FUEL GAUGE STOP HALF WAY AND DOES NOT MOVE AND SOMETIME DOES NOT WORK.
I TOOK MY PATHFINDER IN TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR A CHECK UP--CHUGGING AT 35MPH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SPORADICALLY GOES ON AND OFF, GAS GAUGE STOPPED FUNCTIONING. NISSAN RAN THE DIAGNOSTICS AND TOLD ME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BECAUSE I NEED TO PAY $500.00 TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENSOR. I BELIEVE THIS IS A PART THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED. I DON'T KNOW IF NISSAN CONSIDERS THE FIX ONCE AND DONE BUT VEHICLES DRIVEN IN SALT AND SAND WINTER CONDITIONS WILL NEED EXTRA ATTENTION. THE TRANSMISSION TROUBLE IS SOMETHING NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT BUT REFUSES TO RECALL. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION--OVER $5000.00. IF NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS, WHY MUST I, A NOW UNHAPPY OWNER, PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS?
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY RADIATOR LEAKED FLUIDS INTO TRANSMISSION AND BOTH NEED TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS REALLY TERRIBLE THEY WON'T ADMIT MANUFACTURERS FAULT IN THIS. SO NOW STILL HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS FOR THE CAR WE CAN'T EVEN DRIVE FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS AND THE REPAIRS CAME AT OVER $7000. CAR IS A NECESSITY TO PEOPLE TO MAKE A LIVING FOR THEIR FAMILIES. WE HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN THAT HAVE TO GET TO SCHOOL AND DAYCARE SO THANKS NISSAN YOU LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER. HOPE EVERYONE STOPS BUYING YOUR CARS.
I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD TRIP WITH MY CHILDREN AND SUDDENLY MY PATHFINDER WOULD NOT ACCELERATE GOING UPHILL. I THANKFULLY MADE IT UP THE HILL AND ONTO A HIGHWAY ON RAMP. THE GRACE OF GOD IS ALL THAT KEPT ME FROM BEING STRUCK BY A TRACTOR TRAILER TAKING THE SAME EXIT. THE PATHFINDER SHUDDERED AND I PULLED INTO THE SHOULDER (A BLESSING THAT THERE WAS JUST ENOUGH SPACE FOR ONE) AND IT TURNED OFF RIGHT THERE. NOT EVEN 85,000 MILES ON AN '06 PATHFINDER AND I HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED AFTER SOMETHING BROKE IT IN IT 2 YRS AGO, NOW THIS. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST NISSAN DEALER, 35 MILES FROM WHERE IT STOPPED AND HUNDREDS OF MILES FROM HOME. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS THE KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CHEAP PLASTIC RADIATORS AND TRANSMISSION. I AM NOW IN A RENTAL CAR, LOOKING ONLINE FOR A HOTEL (I WAS PLANNING ON DRIVING UP TO CANADA AND AN NOW STUCK IN OHIO), AND HAVE TO PAY $3,000 TO GET THIS FIXED BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE CAR. NEVERMIND THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE!!
BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN 2013 FOR A BASIC SERVICE AND OIL CHANGE. THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM WERE WELL ESTABLISHED. THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTED INFORMATION IN THE SERVICE VISIT FILE ON MY 2006 PATHFINDER TO SHOW THAT AN INSPECTION FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT WAS DONE. THIS BRINGS US TODAY WHERE MY PATHFINDER CURRENTLY SITS AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN NEED OF A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECT, WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED INTO 1ST GEAR WHILE GOING 50 MPH. WHILE IN TRAFFIC WITH ONE OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE. SO NOW I HAVE TO DECIDE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR, THAT IS DONE USING THE SAME PARTS WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD SERIOUS ISSUE THAT I'VE HAD WITH THIS TRUCK.
TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING ON THE WAY TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO GET IT LOOKED AT. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, IT REFUSED TO GO INTO GEAR AND CAUSED ME TO SLOW DOWN CONSIDERABLY, RESULTING IN A NEAR ACCIDENT WITH THE CAR BEHIND ME AND THE CAR GOING AROUND ME. THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OF NISSAN PATHFINDER.
IN 2012, SOON AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR USED 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER, WE KNEW IT WAS A MISTAKE. NOT ONLY DID THE FUEL INDICATOR NOT WORK (NOTICED THE DAY WE DROVE IT OFF THE LOT) THE SUV JUST DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BECAUSE THE FUEL INDICATOR SAYS I HAVE FUEL, BUT THE LIGHT WOULD IMMEDIATELY COME ON, AND THE CAR WOULD CUT OFF & LOCK UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT! FAST FORWARD TO LAST YEAR, 2015, WE STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WHEN SHIFTING INTO AND OUT OF PARK/DRIVE/REVERSE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND SOMETIMES WOULDN'T EVEN CHANGE GEARS, JUST KEEP REVVING UP THE ENGINE AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE. IT HAS LEFT MY CHILDREN AND ME STRANDED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE THEN. FINALLY, ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, THE PATHFINDER DECIDED TO NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK AT ALL AFTER CRANKED. TODAY, 9/14/16, THE TRANSMISSION LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC. I BARELY HAD IT PULLED OFF THE ROAD WHEN I ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED! THE TRANSMISSION WON'T CHANGE GEARS, WON'T PROPEL THE CAR FORWARD (OR BACKWARDS) AND THE SHOP SAID IT NEEDED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION, AND MAYBE A NEW RADIATOR! I AM A STUDENT AND MY HUSBAND IS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT - WE CERTAINLY DON'T HAVE AN EXTRA $4,000 LYING AROUND FOR REPAIRS TO A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED! SO, IT IS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY, COMPLETELY IMMOBILE AND WE HAVE A CAR PAYMENT COMING UP NEXT WEEK (AND EVERY MONTH AFTERWARDS). WE ARE UNDERWATER, STILL OWING $8,000 FOR A CAR WE THOUGHT WE'D DRIVE FOREVER, THAT IS VALUED AT AROUND $4,000 ON A GOOD DAY WITH NO TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE! NISSAN NEEDS TO REPAIR OUR CAR ASAP!

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

WHILE RESEARCHING A TRANSMISSION ISSUE ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER, MY HUSBAND CAME ACROSS RECALL #10V075000 FOR THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FOR 2006 PATHFINDERS. AFTER ALL THE TRANSMISSION/RADIATOR REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED (ANOTHER ISSUE THAT NISSAN WAS WELL AWARE OF BUT HAS NOT REMEDIED) MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THE CODE READ. THEY PUT IT ON A CODE READER AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO BRING MY CAR IN TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH MY VIN AND THAT THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE TO BE PAID FOR OUT OF MY POCKET. I THEN CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WHERE I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY CAR INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP: 1) ASK FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CODE ON THE PART 2) GET THE NAME OF THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND DEALERSHIP 3) GET AN ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR/REPLACEMENT AND I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND HAD ALL OF THOSE THINGS ACCOMPLISHED. I THEN CALLED BACK AND GAVE NISSAN ALL THE REQUIRED INFORMATION AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK WITH A DECISION. 2 DAYS LATER SOMEONE FROM CONSUMER AFFAIRS CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR SINCE MY VIN IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THAT PERSONS SUPERVISOR AND WAS TOLD THAT SUPERVISORS DID NOT HAVE CUSTOMER CONTACT..SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT MY CAR IS SHOWING ALL OF THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS THAT GO ALONG WITH THIS PROBLEM INCLUDING; MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON, THE COMPUTER SHOWING THE CODE FOR THE ISSUE, MY DIGITAL GAS GAUGE NOT READING CORRECTLY, MY REGULAR GAS GAUGE NOT GOING BELOW TANK, AND ALMOST RUNNING OUT OF GAS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. . I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO RELY ON MY ODOMETER TO INDICATE WHEN I SHOULD REFILL MY GAS TANK.

I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO THE MAIN ROAD AND WENT TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. WHEN I GOT IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP THEY SAID THAT THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSED IT TO RUIN THE TRANSMISSION.
I WAS DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND LOSE POWER. THE ENGINE THEN BEGAN TO REV AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN ALL AVAILABLE GEARS INCLUDING REVERSE AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND I WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY PASSING VEHICLES MULTIPLE TIMES. AFTER 55 MINUTES THE POLICE ARRIVED AND REQUESTED AN EXPEDITED TOW. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED FROM THE ROADWAY. AFTER PAYING THE $135.00 TOW BILL TO THE LOCAL TOW YARD I WAS ABLE TO CALL AAA AND HAVE THEM TOW ME THE ALMOST 90 MILES BACK TO MY HOME IN NJ. THIS WAS OF COURSE THE SATURDAY OF MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SO NOTHING WAS GOING TO BE OPEN UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING. TUESDAY MORNING I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL, REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION PLACE. ULTIMATELY THEY TOLD ME THAT WATER HAD GOTTEN INTO MY TRANSMISSION AND IT WOULD COST $3,188.60 TO FIX. THE TRANSMISSION PLACE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MANY NISSANS WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. AFTER GOING HOME AND GOOGLING NISSAN PATHFINDER TRANSMISSION I WAS APPALLED TO SEE ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT NISSAN PATHFINDER (AND OTHER MODEL NISSANS) TRANSMISSIONS. I WAS LITERALLY TAKEN BACK BY IT AND COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I THEN CONTACTED MY NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BEFORE NOVEMBER 14, 2014 OR IF I HAD LESS THAN 80,000 MILES. MY TRUCK HAD JUST OVER 84,000 MILES. I THEN CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. THEY ADVISED ME THAT IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DETERMINE WHETHER THEY WOULD COVER ANY OF THE EXPENSES INCURRED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM I WOULD I HAVE TO TOW MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM TAKE A LOOK AT IT. ONCE COMPLETED WITH THAT, THEY WOULD SUBMIT A REPORT TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA TO DETERMINE WHETHER ANY OR ALL OF THE INCURRED EXPENSES WOULD BE COVERED...POTENTIALLY TAKING SEVERAL WEEKS OR MONTHS WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT ANYTHING WOULD BE COVERED.

THIS IS A PREVALENT PROBLEM FOR THE YEARS 2005, 2006 AND 2007 PATHFINDER, XTERRA AND AND FRONTIER! NISSAN REFUSES TO DO A RECALL STATING IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE BUT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT CLOSING IN 2013 (YEAR I BOUGHT MY CAR) AND WOULD FIX THE TRANSMISSIONS UP TO 100K (I BOUGHT MINE AT 109K. AT 81,000 MILES A FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT STARTED TO CAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THE INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL. THIS IS JUST AFTER EXPIRATION OF NISSAN'S EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 72 MONTHS/72,000 MILES FOR THIS KNOWN FUEL SENDING UNIT ISSUE. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE, A RECALL WAS NEVER ISSUED TO JUST FIX THE DEFECTIVE PART AS A PROACTIVE MEASURE.
