THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (CVT) ON MY 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER IS VERY NOISY, SPECIALLY WHEN DRIVEN COLD. DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, SOMETIMES SLIPS AND FEELS LIKE THE CAR LOOSES POWER. THIS IS HAPPENING SINCE ABOUT 5,000 MILES. NOW 7,000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. FEELS LIKE THE NOISE IS GETTING LOUDER AS MORE MILES ARE PUT ON THE CAR.
I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX 50 MPH WITH 4-5 CAR LENGTHS BETWEEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT ON ME HIT HIS BRAKES AT WHICH TIME I HIT MY BRAKES. MY BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND WHEN I HIT THEM SO I RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDDLE AND HIT THE BRAKES AGAIN. WHEN I MADE IMPACT WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME I WAS STILL TRAVELING AT APPROX 35-40 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PASSENGER OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE FAILURE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V012000 (SERVICE BRAKES); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
DRIVING WEST ON HWY 60 FROM NASHVILLE, TN TO BRANSON MO. NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME, JUST OPEN FIELDS ON EACH SIDE. I HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE AN EXPLOSION. I LOOK AROUND AND REALIZE THAT I HEAR WIND AND GLASS ABOVE MY HEAD AS WELL. APPOX. 8 BY 12 INCHES OF GLASS WAS GONE FROM THE CENTER OF MY SUNROOF. LUCKILY, MY VISOR WAS CLOSED OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE WITH GLASS FALLING ON MY HEAD AND FACE. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE, BUT UPON FURTHER RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE A MUCH MORE COMMON OCCURRENCE THAN THAN I WAS LEAD TO BELIEVE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF MY VISOR HAD BEEN LEFT OPEN.
OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME ON OCCASIONALLY INDICATING THE AIR BAG IS NOT WORKING EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AN ADULT IN THE SEAT THAT WEIGHS OVER 140 POUNDS. ONCE WE DROVE IT THAT WAY TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER SAW THE LIGHT ON BUT SAID THEY HAD NO WAY TO FIX IT. WE HAVE NO IDEA IF THE AIRBAG WOULD WORK IF IN AN ACCIDENT. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS JULY 17, 2015.
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

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED UNTIL THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE FELT A VIBRATION AND A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOMMARITO NISSAN WEST (14747 MANCHESTER RD, BALLWIN, MO 63011, (636) 394-0330) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED NEW TIRES AND BRAKE PADS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT HIM. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V244000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PURCHASED PRE OWNED 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL 4X4 WIT 30,000 MILES FROM SERRA VISSER CULLMAN, AL NISSAN DEALER IN MAY 2015. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE NOTICED PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD MALFUNCTION (MEANING SHOWING THAT IT WAS OFF) WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT. EVEN WHEN NO ONE WAS SITTING IN SEAT IT WOULD SHOW AIR AG WAS ACTIVE WHEN IT SHOULD BE TURNED OFF. TOOK TO SAME SERVICE DEPT. I BOUGHT VEHICLE FROM. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS IT SHOULD AND TO BASICALLY IGNORE LIGHT. I WAS TOLD "TRUST ME YOUR AIR BAG WILL ACTIVATE". NOW VEHICLE HAS 37,100 MILES AND STARTING TO NOTICE THE CVT TRANSMISSION WILL SHUDDER/JUDDER AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. TAKE FOR INSTANCE YESTERDAY BETWEEN 20-25 MPH THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED TO JERK SIGNIFICANTLY. TOOK TO SERRA VISSER NISSAN IN CULLMAN AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDS REPROGRAMMED. THE COST WAS 105 AT MY EXPENSE. I DECLINED BECAUSE THIS SHOULD FALL UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AND PROCEEDED TO CALL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS HOTLINE TO OPEN CASE ABOUT ISSUES. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS THAT NONE OF THE REPROGRAMMING, REPLACING TRANSMISSIONS, TORQUE CONVERTERS EVEN SOLVES THE PROBLEM. IVE EVEN READ WHERE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW IN TRANSMISSION. I'M HOPING THEY PUT A RECALL OUT FOR THESE ISSUES OR BY BACK VEHICLES. I DONT FEEL SAFE IN IT AND CERTAINLY DONT BELIEVE OWNERS SHOULD PAY TO HAVE ANY OF THESE ISSUES RESOLVED.
AFTER JUST ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR IS NOW OBSTRUCTING CLEAR VIEW OF THE ROAD, CAUSING A SAFETY HAZZARD! THIS IS ONE OF MANY COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ONLINE, AND I HOPE IT DOES NOT TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT IN ORDER FOR A RECALL TO BE INITIATED. NOW, MY PASSENGER SIDE VISOR IS DOING THE SAME THING...THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE PARTS. I AM AWAITING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT'S SOLUTION, AND HOPEFULLY THEY CALL US BACK.

TAKATA RECALL AIRBAGS FAILED WHEN I WAS DOING 5 MPH AND WAS SIDE SWIPED. THE FIRE DEPT HAD TO CUT ME OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I NEEDED STAPLES IN MY HEAD AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS BECAUSE THE OTHER DRIVER WAS DOING 20_30 MPH ACCORDING TO POLICE REPORT. NISSAN REFUSED TO CHANGE ME INTO A NEW VEHICLE DESPITE MY DISABLED STATUS AND FEAR OF DRIVING IT. I CALLED TWICE AND WENT BY DEALER WHO AGREED THE SHOULD HAVE WORKED.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SHUDDERING ON A BRAND NEW 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER, WHICH STARTED WITH LESS THAN 100 MILES ON IT. AT 3200 MILES IT HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES. TODAY I LEARNED IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION, BUT WHEN I ASK IF THE NEW TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN UPGRADED OR IF THEY HAVE FOUND A FIX I AM TOLD "IT IS A NEW TRANSMISSION COMING FROM NISSAN" "WE ARE NOT TOLD OF THE UPGRADES, THEY JUST SEND US THE NEW TRANSMISSION". AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RESOLUTION TO THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION. I AM CONCERNED I AM GETTING A NEW TRANSMISSION WITH AN OLD PROBLEM AND NO ONE CAN/WILL TELL ME OTHERWISE. IS MY CAR GOING TO BE SAFE? THIS IS AT LEAST THE FOURTH TIME LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR DIFFERENT LENGTHS OF TIME UP TO AROUND 20 MINUTES AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. HAVE HAD TO NISSAN DEALER ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND BEEN TOLD NO PROBLEM FOUND. *TR

THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT OFF" IS ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE OCCUPANCY IS CHANGED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF, THEN RESTARTED TO CLEAR THIS CONDITION. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN LESS FREQUENTLY IF THE ADULT IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE OUR PURCHASE. WE HAVE HAD TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY CAN'T EVER SEEM TO DUPLICATE IT WHILE THEY HAVE THE VEHICLE. THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPROGRAM ONE OF THE COMPUTERS, BUT THIS CONDITION IS STILL HAPPENING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAT LOAD SENSORS, OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM, AND REPROGRAMMED THE AIR BAG MODULE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. IN ADDITION, THERE WERE A DEFECTIVE VALVE BODY IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WE ARE GRANDPARENTS TO 16 GRANDCHILDREN. WE BOUGHT OUR 2014 PATHFINDER FEBRUARY 21, 2015 SO WE WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE SOME OF GRANDCHILDREN ON TRIPS WITH US. ON APRIL 4TH, 2015 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH 5 OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN THE ENGINE STOPPED WITH NO WARNING. WE ALMOST GOT HIT 6 DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND WHAT TO DO. THE FEAR THAT WE FELT FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN IS DESCRIBABLE. SOMETHING NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO EXPERIENCE ESPECIALLY DRIVING A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THE ENGINE ENDED UP SHUTTING OFF 2 MORE TIMES THAT SAME DAY. WE TOOK THE PATHFINDER INTO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.... APRIL 11TH, 2015 WHILE DRIVING OUR GRANDCHILDREN OUT OF TOWN TO A BASEBALL GAME THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN...AT THIS POINT WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, WHICH IS SAD BECAUSE IT IS BRAND NEW AND WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR IT. IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP AS OF TODAY, APRIL 16TH, WITH NO ANSWERS. *TR
WE HAD A NEW 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER THAT WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. WE WERE HIT FROM BEHIND INTO ANOTHER CAR. IT WAS ENOUGH IMPACT TO TOTAL A NEW CAR. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHEN THE IMPACT WAS FRONT/BACK. NEITHER THE DRIVER OR THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I HAD A LOT OF BRUISING FROM THE SEAT BELT & MY HUSBAND HAD A HEAD RELATED INJURY LIKE A CONCUSSION DUE TO THE IMPACT AS WELL AS US BOTH HAVING BACK PAIN ISSUES. I FEEL THAT IF I HADN'T BEEN WEARING MY SEAT BELT SEEING HOW BADLY I WAS BRUISED & A KNOT IN MY BREAST FROM THE IMPACT THAT I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY HIT THE WINDSHIELD OR WORSE. I WAS IN A MUCH LESS SEVERE ACCIDENT WHEN I WAS A CHILD & HIT MY HEAD ON THE WINDSHIELD. THAT IS WHY I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT IF I HADN'T BEEN WEARING MY SEAT BELT, IT FAILED,ETC THAT I WOULD HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE UNFORTUNATELY BEFORE I REALIZED HOW IMPORTANT SEAT BELTS WERE. WE ALWAYS WONDERED WHY THE FRONT AIRBAGS (BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER) DIDN'T DEPLOY CONSIDERING THE IMPACT WAS FROM THE REAR AND FRONT. NOW THAT THERE IS A RECALL, IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. THE SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY, BUT NOT THE FRONT PASSENGER... OR DRIVER FOR THAT MATTER. WE WERE COMPLETELY STOPPED IN A TUNNEL DUE TO A QUICK TRAFFIC PROBLEM WHEN THE CAR BEHIND US HIT US. THE IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH TO PUSH US INTO THE STOPPED CAR IN FRONT OF US. THEY HAD TO CLOSE THE TUNNEL DOWN TO TOW OUR CAR AS WELL AS THE CAR BEHIND US OUT OF THE TUNNEL. 2 OF 3 CARS WERE NOT DRIVE-ABLE AND OUR CAR WAS TOTALED. I AM SURE THE CAR BEHIND US WAS TOTALED ALSO. WE ENDED UP GETTING A 2015 NISSAN PATHFINDER - BECAUSE WE THOUGHT IT WAS ONE OF THE SAFEST OPTIONS - & NOW THERE IS A RECALL ON THOSE AIRBAGS BUT THE PARTS AREN'T AVAILABLE. SO THIS IS VERY CONCERNING... PHOTOS ATTACHED ARE OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS THAT DEPLOYED. AT LEAST 2 INJURIES +.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A FRONT AND REAR ALIGNMENT, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE SUSPENSION WAS UNSTABLE IN THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO TWO OTHER INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING AT 60 - 65 + MPH, HOOD STARTS JUMPING IN LOCATION JUST UNDER WINDSHIELD AS WIND LIFTS THE HOOD. CROSS WINDS MAKE THE JUMPING MUCH WORSE. THE HOOD LIFTS AS IF IT WILL LIFT UP TO HIT WINDSHIELD EVEN THOUGH IT IS LATCH. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHICH I HAVE IN THE CAR ALL THE TIME. BEFORE TRAVELLING ON INTERSTATE, I ALWAYS HAVE TO OPEN HOOD AND SLAM DOWN TO MAKE SURE IT IS LATCH BUT THIS DOESN'T HELP AND ALL OF IT CONTINUES.
AFTER 2 DAYS OF PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE I TRAVELED OUT OF STATE AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING AFTER MAKING A STOP AND RESUMING SPEED. I HAD TO DROP OFF AT A NEARBY DEALER AND HAD TO RENT A VEHICLE TO GET BACK HOME. THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM YET BUT I THINK IT WILL END UP BEING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN IN AWD WHEN MODERATE TO FORCEFUL ACCELERATION IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THE TURN OR BE HIT BY ONCOMING VEHICLES. FROM A DEAD STOP, A TURN IS EXECUTED AND THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED BETWEEN HALF-THROTTLE AND FULL-THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE RESPONDS NORMALLY AT FIRST BUT ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS INTO THE TURN THE POWERTRAIN CUTS OUT AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE TO MORE THAN A CRAWL. THIS CAN LAST UP TO 6 SECONDS AND PUTS THE VEHICLE IN JEOPARDY. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND HAVE NARROWLY ESCAPED COLLISIONS SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT THINGS IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO RESPOND. NONE OF THE FOLLOWING HAS WORKED: RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR AND REAPPLYING (PUMPING). GIVING AND HOLDING FULL THROTTLE. MY UNEDUCATED OPINION IS THAT THIS IS A SOFTWARE GLITCH FOR THE CVT. I THINK THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSUMES THAT THERE IS WHEEL SPIN UPON ACCELERATION (ALTHOUGH THERE IS NONE) AND THE ANTI-SKID SOFTWARE REDUCES ENGINE POWER TO PREVENT WHEEL SPIN. THIS HAS PUT ME IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN AT THE FIRST COMPLIMENTARY OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. WHEN I PULL OUT IN FRONT OF A SPEEDING 18-WHEELER, I WORRY. I FEEL THAT I CANNOT DEPEND ON RELIABLE ACCELERATION IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THE CONDITION IS DIFFICULT TO REPEAT ON-COMMAND.

CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE AIRBAG FIXED ON THIS CAR SINCE WE PURCHASED IT. DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. EVERY TIME SHE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS OFF. NISSAN CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. HESITATION AND STALLING HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION I HAD 4 CO-WORKERS IN THE CAR AT THE TIME (THEY ARE ALL WITNESSES) AND I PULLED OUT TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN IN FRONT OF ON COMING CARS AND THE CAR HESITATED CAUSING AN ALMOST CATASTROPHIC EVENT. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THEY CAN NOT JUST REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED HAPPENING SEVERAL TIMES AND EVEN THEN THEY WILL NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD TRADE OUT MY CAR WITH THE 2015 MODEL BECAUSE AS STATED BY THEM THE 2015 MODEL DOES NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HOWEVER, MY PAYMENTS WOULD GO UP TO AN AMOUNT THAT I CAN NOT AFFORD TO MAKE. THEY WERE UNWILLING TO MAKE MY PAYMENTS THE SAME AS THEY ARE NOW. THE HEAD OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACTUALLY STATED THAT NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO IT WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED BY NISSAN. I WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT AND NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID. THE VEHICLE WENT HEAD FIRST INTO THE DITCH AND THEN FLIPPED OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AFTER I FIRST BOUGHT IT AND SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED." OBVIOUSLY NOT. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. MY PATHFINDER IS A TOTAL LOSS. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD MULTIPLE OTHER ISSUES INCLUDING THE ENGINE COILS, TRANSMISSION COMPUTER AND FINALLY THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WILL COME ON EVEN WITH AN ADULT PASSENGER SEATED. HAVE TAKE THIS TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPEAT THE EVENT. STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE. I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL (NHTSA RECALL 16V-244) 3 MONTHS AGO HOWEVER HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET NISSAN TO REPAIR PASSENGER AIRBAG. THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T GET THE PARTS. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES SINCE 2014 TO NO AVAIL. IT WASN'T UNTIL RECALL THAT NISSAN EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM. THE LIGHT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG STAYS LIT WITH SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT. PASSENGER WEIGHT IS 130-175 LBS AND IT STILL ILLUMINATES. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE HERE.
ACCELERATION / TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. ISSUES BEGAN AT 3100 MILES. NO ACCELERATION FROM STOP, OR VERY MINIMAL. FELT AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS "SLIPPING" AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE, OR SIMILAR TO DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AT MPH IN 4TH GEAR. ISSUE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON MY COMMUTE HOME. WAS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND REQUIRED TOWING BECAUSE I COULD NOT MAKE THE VEHICLE MOVE FORWARD AT ALL. ABNORMAL BURNING SMELL COMING FROM FRONT OF CAR WAS OBSERVED. I WAS STRANDED IN WINTER WITH A 3 MONTH OLD IN THE CAR. AT ONE POINT I WAS BASICALLY STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION DUE TO THE LACK OF ACCELERATION. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED IN ONE CASE AND WAS IN SERIOUS DANGER OF BEING SIDESWIPED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION, THIS ISSUE COULD PRESENT A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD (AND DID FOR ME). FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I WAS WORRIED FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY WHILE DRIVING A CAR. ALSO OBSERVED ERRATIC ENGINE RPM'S AT IDLE (FROM 1000 TO 1500) AND WHILE COASTING. RPM WOULD JUMP UP AND DOWN WITH CONSTANT (OR NO) THROTTLE APPLIED. DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS AT THIS POINT. INITIALLY THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE, AND NO ERROR CODES WERE SHOWN ON THE COMPUTER. EVENTUALLY THEY DID REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND ARE NOW REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AFTER CONSULTING WITH NISSAN. I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT NEITHER NISSAN OR THE DEALER HAS ANY CLUE HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY ARE JUST TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS TO SEE WHAT MAKES IT WORK AGAIN. IT IS A PITY THAT NISSAN INCLUDES A "NAVIGATION" SYSTEM THAT WILL WORK ONLY WITH MAPS OF THE COUNTRY WHERE THEY SELL THEIR VEHICLES. I USE TO DRIVE INTO USA SINCE I LIVE CLOSE TO THE BORDER; BUT I CAN'T USE THE STATE OF THE ART NAVIGATION SYSTEM THAT NISSAN INSTALL IN THEIR CARS, BECAUSE THEY DON'T DO IT FOR IT. I SPENT A LOT OF TIME TRYING WITH THEIR THIRD PARTY FOR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS HERE (FORMER NAVTEQ) TO MAKE POSSIBLE TO UPLOAD MAPS FOR NORTH AMERICA WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING WHICH IS CAUSING THE PARKING BRAKE SENSOR AND THE I-KEY SENSOR TO TURN ON AND OFF WITHOUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM BEING USED. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS TO EAST CHARLOTTE NISSAN SINCE OCTOBER, WHERE AT FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS A RECALL. WELL, ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL,SAID IT WAS NOT SHOWING UP AS A RECALL AT THAT TIME. I TOOK IT BACK IN DECEMBER, BUT THE CAR STILL DID NOT HAVE A RECALL. AS THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GIVEN AN UPDATE AND THAT IF IT CONTINUED TO BRING IT BACK BECAUSE NISSAN REQUIRES THEM TO GO THROUGH A SERIES OF STEPS BEFORE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. WELL THIS PAST WEEK (JUNE 15-21), IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. IN ADDITION TO THE SHUDDERING, HESITATION, AND VIBRATION WHILE ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE HAS BEGUN ALMOST ACTING LIKE IT WAS TO STALL WHILE DECELERATING. THIS IS BECOMING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. I HAVE ANOTHER AAPPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY. HOPEFULLY THIS TIME I WILL GET SOME RESULTS.
WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, CAR STARTED SURGING JUST BEFORE THE CVT TRANSMISSION TOTALLY FAILED, REDLINING THE ENGINE. TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN SHUDDERING AND SURGING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW 11.23.13. ON 10.06.14, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70, MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I WOULD TRY TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL & NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THEY REPLACED IT & REALIZED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WASN'T THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY THEY SAID "YOU MAY HAVE PUT IN SOME BAD GAS." BAD GAS? WHATEVER. SO, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY DRAINED THE GAS PUT SOME NEW GAS IN & GAVE ME THE CAR BACK 10.14.14. ON 10.21.14, THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. WE WERE AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS TIME I WAS WITH MY HUSBAND & 2 YOUNG CHILDREN (2 & 4). WE SHUT OFF THE CAR TO RESET IT & TURNED IT BACK ON. WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT MOVING AGAIN & DROVE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. SOME NISSAN ENGINEERS CAME IN TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THE NISSAN REP CALLED ME TO ASK QUESTIONS LIKE, "HOW MANY MILES DID I DRIVE BEFORE MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING (10 MILES) & DID THE ODOMETER & OTHERS RESET (NO). THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS CAUSING MY CAR TO DO THIS SO THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, CONTROL PANEL, YOU NAME IT. GOT THE CAR BACK 10.31.14 & ON 11.05.14 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME AT NIGHT IN THE CARPOOL LANE. WE MADE IT HOME. THIS IS SCARY NOW. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR STALLED AT THE RED LIGHT. STARTED IT UP AGAIN, & IT WENT FOR A SECOND & STALLED. IT DID THIS TWICE. I GOT A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. I TOLD THEM I DO NOT WANT THE CAR BACK DUE TO FEARING FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF & MY CHILDREN. SO FAR, NO HELP. WILL HAVE TO FIGHT. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
WE WERE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON THE DOWNHILL PORTION OF A CITY STREET WHEN WE WERE HIT FROM BEHIND BY A NISSAN PICKUP TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR. WE WERE APPROXIMATELY 10-12 FEET BEHIND THE CAR IN FRONT OF US AS WE'D STOPPED EARLY DUE TO WISHING TO LEAVE ROOM TO MOVE UP IN CASE OF IMMINENT IMPACT (WE COULD SEE THE VEHICLE COME FAST AND NOT SLOWING ENOUGH). MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND WE WERE NOT MOVING AT THE TIME. THE IMPACT DISENGAGED OUR BRAKES (MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE PEDAL AND IT WAS FULLY DEPRESSED). WE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US AT AN ANGLE AND CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS WITH NO WAY OF STOPPING. AFTER PUMPING THE PEDAL A FEW TIMES THE BRAKES ONCE AGAIN ENGAGED AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED THE PREVIOUS WEEK BY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY ADVISED ME THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES. I FEEL THAT THE BRAKES FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE BASED ON MY PAST EXPERIENCES IN SIMILAR REAR END COLLISIONS AND HAVE GRAVE CONCERNS ABOUT A DEFECT. *TR

VERY UNSAFE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE WRITER AT METRO NISSAN THAT THERE WAS NOT A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM YET. TOOK TO RIVERSIDE NISSAN AND TRANSMISSION COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED ON 9/27/14. SERVICE MANAGER THERE SAID IT FIXES AROUND 50 PERCENT OF THE TIME.HOPING I'M IN THAT 50%. *TR
THE VEHICLE MAKES A HIGH PITCH NOISE WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED OR IN PARK. THIS NOISE WAS NOT PRESENT WHEN TEST DRIVING THE CAR AND APPARENTLY ONLY BEGINS TO MANIFEST ITSELF AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE AS IT IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 ALTIMA WHICH ALSO USES THE NEW ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNIT. NISSAN OFFERS NO REAL SOLUTION AT THE MOMENT AND DEEMS THE NOISE TO BE "ACCEPTABLE" BY NO ONES DEFINITION BUT THEIR OWN. NISSAN'S SOLUTION THUS FAR IS TO WRAP THE TUBES IN TAPE TO DAMPEN THE NOISE. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT IS COMING ON WHEN THERE IS A ADULT PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. AFTER REPEATED COMPLAINTS ON IT, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I AM FORCED TO VIDEO CAPTURE EVERY THING WHILE DRIVING TO SHOW IT AS A EVIDENCE, AS THEY ARE NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY.
PASSENGER AIR BAG DOES NOT DETECT ADULT IN SEAT AND SUDDENLY TURNS AIR BAG OFF WHILE VEHICLE IS MOVING, INDICATED BY AIR BAG LIGHT. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND CAN BE TEMPORARILY ADDRESSED BY CYCLING VEHICLE POWER. IMPORTANT TO NOTE IS THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALER DUE TO THE 2ND RECALL NOTICE IN THIS REGARD. *TR
WE HAVE A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL, WITH 3551 MILES ON IT. WE PURCHASED IT USED ON 8-6-2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 2240 MILES ON IT, WE ARE THE SECOND OWNER. ON 8-20-2014, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCESS AN INTERSTATE FROM AN ON-RAMP WE EXPERIENCED A SHUTTER AND STRONG SHAKING OF OUR 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL, AT THAT TIME IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 3336 MILES ON IT. WE WERE FORCED TO PULL OVER, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT TO CONTINUE ON THE INTERSTATE BUT DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANOTHER INCIDENT THAT DAY. THE FOLLOWING SIX DAYS THE CAR BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING BUT IT WOULD USUALLY BE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. I DID RESEARCH ON THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS RIFE WITH PROBLEMS. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (NOT WHERE WE PURCHASED IT) AND THEY RAN A DYNAMOMETER DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CAR AND SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. AS WE WERE DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE THE TECH MENTIONED THAT THE RECORDS SHOWED THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE, AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES. ALSO, I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP, WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, THAT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET THROUGH TO THE NISSAN "CVT HOTLINE" TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND ARRANGE FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL BE REPLACED BUT THAT NISSAN IS THE HOLD UP. IT IS EXTREMELY UNFORTUNATE THAT A CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS AND FORCE CUSTOMER TO WAIT FOR A RESOLUTION WHEN THEY KNOW (AND HAVE KNOWN FOR YEARS) THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT THERE WILL BE A PUSH BY OUR GOVERNMENT TO RESOLVE THIS ONGOING PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND POSSIBLY A VERY LARGE FINE FOR NISSAN'S DECEPTIVE PRACTICES BY DENYING THIS PROBLEM, BASED ON OTHER PEOPLE'S REPORTS WHO HAD REPORTED THIS SAME CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM DATING AS FAR BACK AS 2003 . *TR
