Back brake lights stay on. Seems like brakes are stuck as I can start my car without pressing the brakes and can get it out of the park position without having to push the brakes. I had to disconnect my battery to keep it from being drained. The was a recall back in 2021. I contacted Nissan and they said the issue was fixed. The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the brake lights remained illuminated after releasing the brake pedal. The ABS warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that front brake pads were low however, the contact was not offered any further information. The manufacturer was also notified of the issue informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V020000 (Exterior Lighting). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START-UP THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE COULD BE STARTED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRIORITY NISSAN (14840 STONECROFT CENTER CT, CHANTILLY, VA 20151), WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V380000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
THE VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING. NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PRESS THE GAS IS DOESN'T GO. WE HAVE FOUND OUT THAT WE MUST PRESS THE BRAKE DOWN NEARLY ALL THE WAY AND THEN PRESS THE GAS. THIS IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN A BIG CITY. THERE IS NO PATTERN IT DOES IT WHILE GETTING ON/OFF EXITS AND WHILE DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL ROADS AS WELL.
THE BRAKE RELAY IS DEFECTIVE. IT'S CAUSING THE CAR TO THINK THE BRAKE IS ENGAGED AND YOU CANNOT USE THE ACCELERATOR. THE NISSAN TECH NOTES EVEN RECOMMEND BYPASSING PART OF THE SYSTEM WHEN YOU REPAIR. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD IF YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE IN AN INTERSECTION OR WHILE EGRESSING FROM A PARKING LOT.
FOR APPROXIMATELY THE LAST MONTH THERE HAD BEEN A SHIMMY ON THE FRONT END. WHEN TAKING IT TO BE SERVICED AT THE NISSAN DEALER THERE WERE 13690 MILES ON THE CAR. THE CAR IS PRIMARILY DRIVEN LOCALLY A COUPLE OF TIMES WEEKLY BECAUSE THE OWNER WORKS FROM HOME. THE SERVICE CENTER CAME BACK AND SAID THERE WERE NO FRONT BRAKES LEFT AND WAS SURPRISED WE HAD GOTTEN IN. WHEN ASKED HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN AFTER SO FEW MILES THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE DRIVER MUST HAVE A HEAVY FOOT. THE DRIVER IS A 59 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO ONLY DRIVES LOCALLY. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. NISSAN CORPORATE WAS CONTACTED. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER CAME BACK AND STATED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID MAY HAVE BROKEN DOWN. BOTH EXPLANATIONS ARE IMPLAUSIBLE. A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER CALLED TODAY AND GAVE NO OTHER EXPLANATION BUT STATED SINCE THE CAR WAS 14 MONTHS PAST WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. WE HAVE SINCE CONTACTED TWO ACQUAINTANCES WHO ARE MECHANICS AND BOTH SAID NISSAN'S EXPLANATION IS NOT PLAUSIBLE. THIS AFFECTED ONLY THE FRONT BRAKES AND THE CALIPERS WERE UNAFFECTED. WE CAN SEND A COPY OF THE SERVICE BILL IF NEEDED.
BRAKES MAKE A CLICKING NOISE ALMOST AS IF THE PADS ARE BOUNCING AROUND AT ANY SPEED WITH LIGHT BRAKE APPLICATION. ENGINE COOLING FAN IS MAKING A RACKET BOUNCING OFF OF SHROUD WHEN THE HEAT OR A/C IS TURNED ON. IT IS THE PASSENGER SIDE FAN. JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED AND ONLY HAS 50K. NICE VEHICLE, JUST WISH I DIDNT HAVE TO TURN AROUND AND MAKE REPAIRS THAT SHOULD NOT BE NEEDED.
BRAKE POWER BOOSTER LEAKS AFTER ONLY 35000 MILES
REAR BRAKE PADS GONE IN 1.5 YEARS IS UNHEARD OF. ONLY 36,000 MILES ON THIS CAR. TIRES WERE BALD AFTER ONE YEAR. SUCH INFERIOR PRODUCTS GOING INTO A $40K CAR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 750.
