I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS, BOTH BIG AND SMALL, WITH MY BRAND NEW NISSAN QUEST SE. I CAN ALMOST DEAL WITH THE SQEAKS, RATTLES, BROKEN BUTTONS, BROKEN LIGHTS, MALFUNCTIONING SENSORS, RADIO PROBLEMS, AND MALFUNCTIONING SLIDER DOORS, BUT THE PROBLEM I CANNOT ACCEPT IS THE FAILURE OF THE CAR TO RUN DURING DAMP OR COLD DAYS. THE CAR CRANKS AND STARTS AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, BUT WHEN IT IS PUT INTO DRIVE IT EITHER LAGS AS IF IT'S RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, OR DIES COMPLETELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 8 OCCASSIONS, 2 OF WHICH I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE I COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. UNFORTUNATELY, MY DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. MEANWHILE, I NEVER KNOW IF MY CAR WILL RUN ON THESE DAYS, I HAVE EVEN BEEN FORCED TO WALK DOWN THE STREET IN BELOW ZERO WINDCHILL TEMPERATURES WITH MY CHILDREN IN ORDER TO GET HELP. I PURCHASED A NEW CAR TO HAVE SAFETY AND PEACE OF MIND, AND INSTEAD I AM LOSING SLEEP AT NIGHT AND ASKING NISSAN TO BUY THIS CAR BACK. I WILL LIST THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE ON THE FORM, BUT PLEASE NOTE THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES.*AK
A SERIOUS BUT NON LIFE THREATENING INJURY OCCURRED TO THE VICTIM'S RIGHT RING FINGER, CUTTING THROUGH THE NAIL AND NEARLY SEVERING THE FINGERTIP. EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLIDE THE 2ND ROW DRIVERS SIDE SEAT FORWARD, THE SUBJECT FINGER WAS CRUSHED/CUT BY THE SEAT SUPPORT MECHANISM. THE SUBJECTS HAND WAS ON THE REQUIRED LEVER IN A NORMAL FASHION, A WAY IN WHICH NO INJURY WOULD BE EXPECTED. A DESIGN FLAW IN THE PLASTIC PROTECTIVE COVER ALLOWS FOR FINGERS TO BE IN DANGER. A SMALLER FINGER, SUCH AS A CHILD'S, MIGHT HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY SEVERED. NISSAN NEEDS TO PROVIDE A FIX TO THIS DESIGN FLAW TO AVOID FURTHER AND MORE SERIOUS INJURIES FROM OCCURRING. *LA
NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V474 1. SLIDING 2ND ROW SEAT FORWARD. 2. PINCH POINT NEAR CHAIR HANDLE CRUSHED THE TIP OF MY 3RD FINGER 3. NISSAN IGNORED MY CONCERNS AND TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT. THEY WERE PUT ON NOTICE IN DECEMBER 2003. THEY ALSO SENT THEIR ENGINEER OUT OF CHICAGO TO INSPECT THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED NO DEFECT EXISTED AND NO CORRECTION WAS NEEDED. NISSAN'S FILE NUMBER ON MY COMPLAINT IS: 439 2014 IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE NISSAN'S PLANNED RECALL IS 1 DAY AFTER THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS FOR MY INJURY AND THE 1ST REPORTED INJURY YOU HAVE ON FILE FOR THE SAME DATE WHICH OCCURRED IN PLANTATION, FL. I RECENT FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL FOR REASONS OTHER THAN THE INJURY. *NM
THE AUTOMATIC POWER SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT REOPEN AS THE PASSENGERS WERE GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE DOOR SENSOR FAILED TO REOPEN THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS AND VARIOUS REPAIRS WERE MADE, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THERE WAS NO ADJUSTMENT AVAILABLE FOR THE AUTOMATIC REVERSING MECHANISM. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE HIGHER ON THE DOOR ONE'S ARM, HAND AND SHOULDER WOULD MAKE CONTACT, THE HARDER IT WAS TO REVERSE THE DOOR. *SC *JB
DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR MAKE RATTLING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. THE DEALER HAS TO REPAIR THREE TIMES, AND STILL MAKE THAT NOISE SOMETIMES. *JB
WE HAVE THE 2004 SL AND HAVE HAD TWO OCCURRENCES WHERE THE CAR HAS NO POWER AND ACCELERATED VERY SLOWLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THIS OCCURS THE FIRST TIME THE CAR IS TURNED ON AND DOES NOT STOP UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF. IT APPEARS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING SINCE THE RPMS ARE HIGH, THE ENGINE IS REVVING, BUT THE CAR IS NOT MOVING. AFTER ABOUT 35-40 MPH IT BREAKS FREE. THE DEALER HAS WITNESSED THE PROBLEM, I TOOK IT STRAIGHT THERE THE 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED. THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT, CAN'T DUPLICATE. I WENT TO BBB ARBITRATION AND LOST. I AM PURSING WITH AN ATTORNEY.*AK
WINDSHIELD WASHERS ON NISSAN 2004 QUEST ARE INEFFECTIVE. THE SPRAY DOES NOT REACH THE GLASS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THE SAME MODELS ON THEIR LOT ALSO HAD THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, AFTER A LIGHT SNOWFALL, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY RECEIVED 3 COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS. THE DEALER HAS NOTIFIED NISSAN. *LA
CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS TRYING TO REOPEN THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR FROM THE INSIDE/OUTSIDE. DEALERSHIPS MECHANIC WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
APPLIED BRAKES AND VAN DID NOT SLOW OR STOP PROPERLY, ENGINE SPEED INCREASED, DRY ROAD, FELT LIKE SLIDING ON ICE. *AK
PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN QUEST ON 10/25/03. RATTLING SOUND FROM DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR ONE WEEK AFTER PURCHASE. 5 ATTEMPTS TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. ON 11/29/03 DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING WITH CHILDREN IN BACK SEAT.
ON 10/25/03 WE PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WITHIN ONE WEEK OF PURCHASE WE NOTICE A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR. AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP THE NOISE WAS ATTENUATED BUT STILL PERSISTED. AFTER THE 2ND VISIT THE RATTLING SOUND EXPANDED TO INCLUDE A CREAKING NOISE EACH TIME WE BRAKED. ON 11/29/03 THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN SO WE PLACED OUR CHILDREN IN THE VAN USING THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. AFTER BUCKLING THE CHILDREN IN WE STARED THE VAN AND LEFT FOR HOME. AT APPROXIMATELY 11:55PM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR POPPED OPEN!!! ON 12/01/03 MY WIFE BROUGHT THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE FOURTH TIME, WHERE AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO FIX THE RATTLING AGAIN AND THE DOORS WERE ADJUSTED. ON 12/02/03 THREE HOURS AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKED AGAIN AND THE AUTOMATIC DOOR WENT INTO A SPASM WHERE IT WOULD START TO CLOSE BUT THEN POP BACK OPEN. WE EVENTUALLY WERE ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOORS BUT THE RATTLING PERSISTED. THE LOCKING AND JAMMING OF THE DOORS IS INCONSISTENT BUT THE RATTLING SOUND OCCURS WHENEVER WE GO OVER 35 MPH. WE ARE NOW SCHEDULED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR ITS 5TH VISIT TO THE SERVICE CENTER IN 5 WEEKS. THIS DOOR NOT ONLY HAS RATTLED AND SHOOK DURING THE TIME WE HAVE HAD IT, IT NOW WILL SOMETIMES NOT OPEN AND EVEN WORSE CAN POP OPEN WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. THIS IS UNSAFE AND THE EXPERIENCE OF WATCHING MY KIDS LOOK OUTSIDE OF AN OPEN DOOR IN A MOVING CAR WAS HARROWING. I HOPE THE DOORS NEVER OPEN ON A CHILD WHO IS NOT PROPERLY BUCKLED IN.
THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR OPENED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION OR WHEN IT WAS SITTING STILL. WHEN THE DOOR OPENED IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CLOSE. IN ONE INSTANCE THE DOOR ACTUALLY SHUT ON THE CONSUMER. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *NM
THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON , THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN ON THREE OCCASIONS. EACH TIME A DIFFERENT SERVICE WAS PERFORMED, TO INCLUDE, THE COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED, A FUEL ASSEMBLY REPAIR, AND A SMALL LEAK IN THE VENT CONTROL VALVE. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN.*AK
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, VEHICLE HIT A CURB AND A LIGHT POLE. THEN, VEHICLE ROLLED OVER TWICE. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES DRIVER AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR TREATMENT.*AK *MR
POWER DOORS , LIFTGATE, AND SUN ROOF OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO OPEN AND CLOSE.*AK
REAR SLIDING PASSENGER DOORS SAFETY MECHANISM FOR DETECTING PERSONS OR OBJECTS DOES NOT PROVIDE PROPER SAFETY. CONTINUOUS PROBLEM. *LA
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE REAR SLIDING DOORS CREEK AND RATTLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES AND PROBLEM STILL EXHISTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LEAKS AFTER IT RAINS AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NO FIX HAS BEEN MADE. WINDOWS PERIODICALLY ROLL DOWN ON THEIR OWN AND THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT'S A FEATURE BUT PROBLEM EXHISTS WHEN PRESSING THE AUTOMATIC LOCK FEATURE NOT JUST THE UNLOCKING FEATURE. WHEN CAR IS RUNNING AND A/C IS STARTED A LOUD KICK IN THE ENGINE OCCURS. VAN HAS FAILED TO START AND PART HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE ENGINE. *AK
2004 NISSAN QUEST: POWER DOOR OPENED WHILE VAN WAS MOVING. *AK
I BOUGHT THIS 2004 NISSAN QUEST SE ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2003 AND TOOK A ROAD TRIP VISIT MY DAUGHTER 1300 MILES AWAY FORM MY HOME. DURING THE TRIP, WE NOTICED AIR INFILTRATION FROM THE PASSENGERS DOOR AND THE RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR. IN ADDITION TO THE AIR LEAKS, THE RIGHT SLIDING DOOR AND THE REAR HATCH RATTLED, SOMETIMES CONSTANTLY AND OTHER TIMES WHEN PASSING OVER IRREGULARITIES IN THE PAVEMENT. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND IT STILL IS NOT FIXED. THIS SINCE THESE ARE POWER DOORS I WOULD EXPECT THAT THERE IS A POSITIVE LATCH UPON CLOSING, HOWEVER I WAS ASKED IF I STOPPED AND CYCLED THE DOOR. I HAVE FOUND THE SIDE DOORS AND REAR HATCH TO BE NOT LATCHED TIGHTLY ON AT LEAST SIX OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, THE POWER SLIDING DOORS DO NOT ALWAYS OPEN FROM COMMANDS TO THE DOOR HANDLE. ON ONE VISIT, THE DEALER REPLACED THE MASK, OTHER PARTS ON REAR LIFT GATE AND ADJUSTED THE REAR LATCH, AND IT STILL RATTLES. I FOUND THE UPPER TAILGATE STOPLIGHT TO ALSO HAVE LOOSE PARTS INSIDE IT (HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET). THE RIGHT AND LEFT REAR VENT WINDOWS WERE RATTLING AND FOUND TO BE LOOSE AT THE HINGES. BOTH REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES WERE FOUND TO HAVE LOOSE STRUCTURAL PARTS INTERNALLY. LEFT ONE HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH ONE THAT DON'T RATTLE. HOWEVER, A LOOK AT THE NEW QUESTS ON THE DEALERS LOT FOUND MOST TO ALL TAILLIGHTS RATTLED. DURING THE TRIP THE VAN WAS HARD TO CONTROL AND DRIFTED TO THE LEFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN I GOT TO MY DAUGHTERS HOUSE I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT FIXED, A WEEK LATER THEY SUPPOSEDLY ALIGNED IT, BUT IT WAS STILL NOTICEABLE. IN DECEMBER AT MY HOME I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THE ALIGNMENT WAS GOOD BUT THE STEERING WAS ABOUT 4 INCHES COCKEYED. WHICH WAS FIXED AT AT A LATER VISIT. I HAVE OWNED TWO NISSAN VEHICLES AT A TIME FOR THE MORE THAN THE LAST DECADE AND THIS DOES NOT REPRESENT MY EXPERIENCES WITH THOSE VEHICLES.
MINIVAN: 2004 NISSAN QUEST THE REFLECTION OF THE DASHBOARD ON THE FRONT WINDOW OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVERS VIEW. THIS REFLECTION IS SO CLEAR THAT YOU CAN EVEN SEE THE COLOR OF THE DASHBOARD IN THE REFLECTION.
REAR SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR SAFETY MECHANISM FOR DETECTING LIMBS/ETC. DOES NOT FUNCTION TO PROVIDE SAFETY. THIS MECHANISM FORCEFULLY PUSHED A 130 LB ADULT THAT WAS APPLYING SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE TO STOP THE DOOR, BEFORE HITTING A 2 YR OLD CHILD. ADULT UNABLE TO PREVENT DOOR FROM CLOSING, HAD TO PULL CHILD OUT OF HARM IN ADDITION TO SELF. *JB
RADIO/CD/DVD CAN BE "ON" BUT, NO VOLUME HEARD FROM SPEAKERS. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH NO PREDICTABILITY. DEALER HAS OBSERVED, BUT CANNOT REPRODUCE. RADIO MODULE REPLACED TO NO AVAIL.*AK
I PURCHASED MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST IN SEPTEMBER 2003. THE DAY I DROVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE LOT THE SLIDING DOORS BEGAN TO RATTLE AND HAVEN'T STOPPED SINCE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR A TOTAL OF NINE TIMES. THE DASH REFLECTS IN THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT A HAZARD TO DRIVE, THE DRIVER'S DOOR HAS A SQUEAK WHEN OPENING THAT IS CAUSED BY THE HINGE FLEXING WHERE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE BODY. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DEALER THIS CANNOT BE FIXED. THE SLIDING DOOR PANEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR, PROTRUDES ABOUT 1/8" FROM THE BODY AND HAS A DENT IN THE CORNER OF THE PANEL AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DEALER THIS CANNOT BE FIXED. I PAID OVER $31K FOR THIS CAR AND IT SEEMINGLY CANNOT BE FIXED NO MATTER WHAT IS WRONG. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN 5 TIMES BY TELEPHONE AND ON ONE EVER RETURNS MY CALLS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED VEHICLE STALLED, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC. *AK
REAR DOOR, BOTH SLIDING SIDE DOORS HAVE A RECURRENG RATTLES,SQUEAKS AND CLUNKS. NOTICED THE PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE A FEW MILES, DEALER TRY TO FIXED, BUT AFTER A FEWS DAYS THE PROBLEM COME BACK. I WANT THE NISSAN TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE, I'M CONVINCED THE PROBLEM WILL NOT GO AWAY.
NISSAN QUEST 2004 SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON AND PROBLEMS WITH STEERING. *BF THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAD COME ON 3 TIMES, CREAKING WAS FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND OR THE FRONT END, SOUNDS WERE HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, COMPUTER TIRE MONITOR INDICATED A FLAT TIRE AND OR LOW TIRE PRESSURE DURING COLD WEATHER, THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN FOR FIVE MINUTES THEN GO UP TO 4 DEGREES HIGHER (OVER INFLATED), WHEN THE WEATHER WAS WARM, THE SETTING WOULD THEN BE ABOVE 40 PSI WHICH WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IF NOT ADJUSTED (INCORRECT RESULTS ON THE DISPLAY), SRS LIGHT HAD COME ON AFTER RECALL CAMPAIGN #04V103000 WAS PERFORMED, DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW WAS INTERMITTENT, SLIDING DOORS MADE LOUD BUMP NOISE WHEN OPENED ALL THE WAY, ESPECIALLY ON INCLINES, HEAT OUTLETS LOCATED ON THE FLOOR BEHIND THE FIRST ROW SEAT CAN'T BE CONTROLLED BY THE PASSENGER REAR CONTROLS, THE DOME LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING, THE DOOR RATTLED, THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WINDOW WOULD NOT MOVE, THE WINDOW SWITCH HAS AN OPEN CIRCUIT, THE VEHICLE WAS JERKING UPON ACCELERATION AT 30 MPH, REAR HEATER WAS BLOWING COLD AIR, THERE WAS A HEAVY GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED AFTER SITTING FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING, TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED A REDDISH/PURPLE FLUID ON THE GARAGE FLOOR, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE AND THERE WAS AN EVAPORATION LEAK. *SC *JB
RADIO FAILS TO RECEIVE ON THE AM BAND. TWO TRIPS TO DEALER REQUIRED TO RESOLVE, WITH THE SECOND REQUIRING EXTENSIVE TIME ONLINE WITH NISSAN TECHNICAL SUPPORT. SITUATION APPARENTLY RECTIFIED BY ADDING A NEW GROUND ON THE RADIO CIRCUIT.*AK
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWN SHIFT. WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS PULLING ONTO THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED BECAUSE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK WHEN THE SUN SHINED ONTO THE DASHBOARD, THE REFLECTION REFLECTED ONTO THE WINDSHIELD AND CAUSED AN OBSTRUCTION AND DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER'S VIEW. THE CORRECT MODEL YEAR 2004. FROM THE PARK POSITION, THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO GO UP AN INCLINE. THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE TO LOW GEAR FOR THE POWER TO MOVE UP THE HILL. THE CONSUMER HAD TO BACK DOWN THE HILL. THE RADIO WOULD GET STATIC WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER PANEL WAS COMING APART. *SCC *JB
REAR AND SLIDING DOORS HAVE A RECURRENT RATTLE NOISE, TAKEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES AND STILL HAVE PROBLEM, NISSAN STATE THAT IS A CARATERISTIC FEATURE OF VEHICLE, BUT I DROVE OTHER VAN AND DID NOT NOTICE THE SAME PROBLEM, THIS IS A LEMON. THEY ABUSE OR HIDE BEHIND THE "CARATERISTIC ISSUE". I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM.*AK
REFLECTION OF DASHBOARD AND VAN INTERIOR ONTO WINDSHIELD OBSTRUCTS DRIVERS VIEW, CREATING UNSAFE DRIVER'S ROAD VIEW CONDITIONS. CONTINUOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. *LA
DOME LIGHT FUSE CONTINUOUSLY BLOWS. TOOK THREE TRIPS TO DEALER TO FIND ALL CAUSES. CAUSE WAS APPARENTLY BAD METAL STAMPING IN THE FOUR REAR-COMPARTMENT DOME LIGHTS. WHEN DOME LIGHTS HEATED UP, METAL EXPANDED AND CAUSED A SHORT, BLOWING THE FUSE.*AK
1ST OCCURENCE: AUG 4, 2003 (1) THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP THE FAILURE. (2) THE FAILURE WAS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RELEASE BUTTON/SELECTOR BUTTON DISINTERGRATED FOUR DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE BRAND NEW VECHICLE. WE HAD DRIVEN 800 MILES, AND UPON TRYING TO SHIFT FROM DRIVE INTO PARK THE BUTTON FELL APART. THE CONSEQUENCE WAS THE INABILITY TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, UNLESS WE USED A PIECE OF PLASTIC TO PUCH THE SPRING BACK AND WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS ONLY 1/2 MILE AWAY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURED. (3) POHANKA NISSAN OF FREDERICKSBURG, WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, REPLACED THE PART. 2ND OCCURENCE: APPROX. JULY 2004 (1) ONCE AGAIN, THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. (2) THE BUTTON ONCE AGAIN BROKE APART, THIS TIME WHEN DEPRESSING THE BUTTON TO SHIFT FROM PARK INTO DRIVE. THERE WAS A LARGE ENOUGH PIECE OF PLASTIC LEFT TO ALLOW THE CAREFUL PUSHING OF THE SPRING AND WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO POHANKA NISSAN OF FREDERICKSBURG. (3) THE BUTTON WAS ONCE AGAIN REPLACED BY POHANKA NISSAN. [THE BUTTON WAS REPLACED AGAIN UNDER NISSAN REPAIR BULLETIN JUNE 2005 BY COWLES NISSAN OF WOODBRIDGE -- THIS IS THE THIRD REPLACEMENT, EVEN THOUGH IT HAD NOT BROKEN] 3RD OCCURENCE: 4 JULY 2005 (1) FOR ABOUT FOUR DAYS BEFORE THE FAILURE, THERE WAS GREAT DIFFICULTY IN SHIFTING FROM DRIVE INTO PARK, IT WOULD STOP AT REVERSE. AFTER SOME WIGGLING IT WOULD EVENTUALLY SHIFT INTO PARK. (2) WHEN PULLING INTO A GAS STATION, WE ONCE AGAIN WERE HAVING PROBLEMS SHIFTING FROM DRIVE INTO PARK, AND AFTER TRYING TO WRIGGLE THE SHIFTER, THE ENTIRE SHIFTER LEVER CAME OUT OF THE CONSOLE IN MY HAND. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN REVERSE. WE GENTLY REPLACED THE SHIFTER INTO THE CONSOLE, AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK.
(1) THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. (2) AM RADIO RECEPTION IS TERRIBLE, HIGH STATIC EVERYTIME YOU RUN OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. (3) THE FIRST DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THE SECOND DEALER FOUND LOOSE GROUND WIRES FOR THE AM ANTENNAE, BUT HAD NOT ORDERED THEM UNTIL A DETERMINATION COULD BE MADE IF IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY.
2004 NISSAN MAXIMA SL 3.5L V6 CURRENTLY FOUR FAILURES UNDER VARYING CONDITIONS CAUSE THE VEHICLE COMPUTER TO GO INTO "SAFE MODE", FLASH VDO AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, AND IMMEDIATELY LOSE POWER, REDUCING SPEED TO APPROXIMATELY 20MPH. AUTHORIZED DEALER HAS REPAIRED EACH TIME AND EACH TIME REPORTED FIXED. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA RESTATES SAME, REFUSES TO REPLACE UNDER VA LEMON LAW. CAR OWNED 5 MONTHS, FOUR FAILURES, EACH OF WHICH COULD HAVE KILLED ME, MY FAMILY, OR FELLOW COMMUTERS. THIS CAR TRAVELS APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES PER DAY INTO DC FROM ASHBURN AS WELL AS SERVING FOR TRIPS AND AROUND-TOWN GENERAL FERRYING. NISSAN DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND THOSE AROUND US. MULTIPLE INCEDENTS, NO FATALITIES - YET, NOR PROPERTY DAMAGED - YET.
PROBLEMS WITH 2004 NISSAN QUEST.*MR THE CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO USE THE FRESH AIR SETTING IN THE VEHICLE. THE COOL AIR FROM THE OUTSIDE BECAME HEATED BY THE ENGINE THUS CAUSING WARM AIR TO ENTER THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE INSTEAD OF COOL AIR. *NM

PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCATION OF THE HEADLIGHT CONTROLS.*MR THE HEADLIGHT CONTROLS, LOCATED AT THE END OF THE TURN SIGNAL ARM, ARE VERY EASILY MOVED. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON THEY CAN BE INADVERTENTLY TURNED OFF WHEN USING THE ARM TO SIGNAL A TURN. IT'S NOT UNTIL THE CONSOLE GOES DARK THAT THE DRIVER IS AWARE THAT THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN TURNED OFF. THE CONSUMER HAS ATTEMPTED TO NOTIFY NISSAN OF THE CONDITION AND HAS ALSO NOTIFIED THE DEALER. *NM
RECALL NOTICE ON FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM. *BF THE CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL IN REFERENCE TO THE VEHICLE'S FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS. NOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED THE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. WHEN AND ADULT IS IN THE SEATED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO EXPLAINED THAT EH VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING TO NISSAN'S SPECIFICATIONS. *NM

VEHICLE HAS TWO SLIDING DOORS THAT DO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. CONSUMER HAS TO CONSTANTLY SLAM THE DOOR TO KEEP IT SHUT. THE DOORS ARE MAKING A CRACKING NOISE. *AK

THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE AUTOMATIC, REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SUDDENLY STARTED TO OPEN. *PH VEHICLE ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH RADIO EQUIPMENT BEING INOPERATIVE, WINDSHIELD WIPERS , AND TRANSMISSION MAKING A WHINING NOISE.*MR
THE TRANSMISSION OPERATED POORLY. WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 25 MPH WITHIN 225 FEET WITHOUT PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL. THE DRIVER HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL REALLY HARD TO SLOW DOWN. *AK THIS OCCURRED ON DOWNHILL SLOPES AND WAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. *SC *JB
