THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE BEING DRIVEN DOWN THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES CONSIDERING THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. *AK *SC
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY OPEN AND CLOSE ON THEIR OWN WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOORS DID NOT REVERSE IN DIRECTION WHEN AN OBJECT WAS ENCOUNTERED UNTIL THAT OBJECT WAS PUSHED TO 4-6 INCHES OF THE DOOR FRAME. (THE BUTTON SWITCH CAUSED THE DOOR TO CLOSE ON PEOPLE) THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE DOOR WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. *SC *JB
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. WITHIN SECONDS OF PARKING THE VEHICLE A FIRE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED A DANGEROUSLY SLOW ACCELERATION AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO POOR FUEL ECONOMY (11.6 TO 12.1 MPG INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL 19-26 MPG). ALSO, WITHIN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP, THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE OPENED INDEPENDENTLY ON TWO OCCASIONS AND FAILED TO OPEN OR CLOSE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE CONTROL BUTTONS, THE RADIO TEXT DISPLAY ON THE DASH READ MALFUNCTION MULTIPLE TIMES AND SOMETIMES IT OCCURED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS STARTED. *AK *SC THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *JB
2004 NISSON QUEST, HOOD PROP ROD DESIGN FLAW. IF WIND CATCHES HOOD, PROP ROD FALLS OUT, DROPPING HOOD ON PERSON LOOKING AT ENGINE. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN DEALER, SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, THAT'S JUST THE WAY THEY ARE. *AK
CAR WAS STARTED AND BACKED INTO STREET, UPON SHIFTING TO DRIVE, THE CAR WOULDL NOT ACCELERATE. FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS STUCK IN THIRD GEAR. VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE OUT OF TRAFFIC. CAR WAS THEN PARKED. UPON SHUTDOWN AND RESTART, TRANSMISSION FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MAY 12, WITH COPIES OF MESSAGES FROM EDMUNDS.COM FROM OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND SUGGESTION TO REPLACE TCM. BECAUSE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY WILL NOT REPLACE ANYTHING.*AK
A/C PROBLEMS, RATTLES, SLIDING DOORS RAKING PAINT OFF OF SIDES OF VEHICLE. *NM
WHILE MOVING THE SECOND ROW, PASSENGER SEAT, BEHIND THE DRIVER, MY RIGHT-HAND, PINKY FINGERTIP WAS AMPUTATED. I WAS RUSHED TO EMERGENCY AND THEY COULD NOT REATTACH IT. I HAVE A 12 YEAR-OLD CHILD AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO HIM OR ANOTHER PASSENGER OR YOUNGER CHILD. THIS HAS BEEN A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE FOR MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND MYSELF PARTICULARY BECAUSE THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WHILE MOVING A SEAT. THERE IS A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. *AK
POWER SIDE DOORS WILL NOT STOP FORWARD MOTION UNLESS OBJECT IS WITHIN A VERY SMALL SAFETY ZONE APPROXIMATELY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOOR. ALSO, GREAT FORCE IS REQUIRED TO STOP FORWARD MOTION (ADULT MALE, BOTH HANDS PULLING HARD). FINALLY, WITH CHILD LOCK 'ON', POWER BUTTON BY DOOR WILL STILL ALLOW CHILD TO CLOSE THE DOOR FROM INSIDE AND CRUSH WHATEVER HE STICKS OUT. NISSAN MECHANIC ASSURED ME THIS IS BY DESIGN AND CANNOT BE CHANGED. *AK
CONSUMER PURCHASED VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2003, AND SOON AFTER, IT BEGAN TO RATTLE BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. CONSUMER NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. THEN,CONSUMER CONTACTED A SECOND DEALER ,WHO ADJUSTED THE HINGE BECAUSE IT WAS LOOSE. VEHICLE RODE QUIETLY FOR ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS, THE IT STARTED TO RATTLE AGAIN. CONSUMER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS TOLD THAT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT HE SHOULD TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALER, AND DEALER MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY TO HAVE VEHICLE INSPECTED. CONSUMER SAW MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE WEBSITE.*AK *NM
PROBLEMS WITH SEAT EQUIPMENT ON 2004 NISSAN QUEST.*MR THE DEALER ORDER ANOTHER SEAT BUT AS OF JULY 2004 THE SEAT HAD NOT ARRIVED. *NM
VAN RIGHT AUTO SLIDING DOOR FLEW OPEN ON MY 3 CHILDREN GOING 50MPH 11 YR. OLD SON HAD TO HOLD DOOR CLOSED WITH HIS BODY AND FEET UNTIL SAFELY STOP. DOOR GOING BACK AND FORTH, WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED, WOULD NOT STAY OPENED!!! DEALERSHIP HAD TO UNHOOK BATTERY TO GET THE DOOR TO DISENGAGE! SAID PROBABLY MINOR PROBLEM. CONTACTED SALES DEPT - PROBLEMS FROM 1ST WEEK WITH VAN. NO CONTACT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, CONTACTED THEM. WOULD BE A WEEK OR TWO TO REPLACE PART. NO CALL AGAIN. CALLED THEM 4TH WEEK. SERV. DEPT. SAID NEW BULLETIN (NOT A RECALL) DID NOT HAVE REPLACE. PART. WHEN PICKED UP IN SUMMER BEGAN TO HAVE MAJOR RATTLING IN SIDE DOORS, REAR DOOR, 2ND & 3RD ROW SEATS. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP, DID SOME ADJUSTMENTS NEEDS BODY SHOP WORK, TO SET UP APOINTMENT. NO CALL. DOOR CAME OPEN AGAIN WITH MY CHILDREN +2 ONBOARD WHILE DRIVING. ONE WEEK IN SHOP, MANY THINGS REPLACED INCLUDING HINGES AND LATCHES ON DOORS AND SEATS. GOT HOME, AUTO DOOR STILL BROKEN. BACK AGAIN. SOME MORE ADJUSTMENTS. CURRENT PROBLEMS SAME,NO SOLUTIONS . ALL DOCUMENTED INVOICES. POOR RESPONSE FROM NISSAN CONSUMER REGIONAL MANAGER. RUDE! NO APOLOGY FOR SAFETY CONCERNING MY FAMILY. PUT BURDEN ON ME FOR PROOF OF MALFUNCTIONS! *AK
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. DROVE HOME AFTERWORK LET VEHICLE SIT FOR NO MORE THAN 15 MINS. PROCEEDED TO DRIVE VEHICLE OUT OF DRIVE WAY AT WHICH TIME I HAD NOTICED NO POWER ENGINE VERY SLUGGISH. IF IT WERE A STANDARD STICK SHIFT VEHICLE IT SEEMED AS IT WAS STARTING IN 3RD OR 4TH GEAR. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, PROCEEDED UP A SLIGHT INCLINE OF WHICH I NEEDED TO FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL. MY CAR HAS NOW BEEN AT TONY NISSAN DEALERSHIP SINCE MAY 6, 2004. THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE ARE OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME REPORTED PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH NISSAN TECH LINE, PER NISSAN TECH LINE UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP CAN "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. PER TONY NISSAN GM HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS CHECKED EVERYTHING POSSIBLE THEY DON'T SEE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE THAT IT IS "OKAY TO DRIVE". I ACKNOWLEDGED, I'D PICK UP MY VEHICLE IF HE'S SAYING IT SAFE TO DRIVE, HOWEVER IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MYSELF OR FAMILY,I WILL HOLD TONY NISSAN AND THE GM LIABLE DUE TO THE FACT IT'S A REPORTED PROBLEM BUT, THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT. AS I SPOKE TO THE GM, I READ TO HIM 9 COMPLAINTS LISTED ON THIS WEBSITE REGARDING THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. MY COMPLAINT SHOULD MAKE 10, NOT TO MENTION THE OTHER VEHICLES HERE ON THE ISLAND OF OAHU.*AK
VENTILATION SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT BLOWS HOT AIR ON ALL SETTINGS WITHOUT THE AIR CONDITIONING ON. NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM EXISTS ON THIS MINIVAN BUT SAYS THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER NOTICED WHEN THE DOORS WERE SHUT, THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS IF THE DOOR WERE OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THEY REPORTED IT WAS FIXED. THE PROBLEM RETURNED WHEN CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME THAT DAY. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HATCHBACK DOOR LOCK. WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR, THE CONSUMER HAD TO BANG IT HARD TO GET IT CLOSED. THE SLIDING DOOR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AS WELL, IT MUST BE SLAMMED IN ORDER TO CLOSE IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS. THE TIRE PROBLEMS BEGAN ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. TIRE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON, INDICATING THAT THE TIRES ARE LOOSING AIR. OWNER ADVISES THAT ONE TIME THE TIRE LIGHT WOULD COME ON ABOUT EVERY BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THIS. THE TIRE HAD A NAIL IN IT. THERE IS ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. OWNER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ABOUT THIS LAST YEAR AND IN JANUARY OF 2005. THE RECALL NUMBER IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THIS RECALL IS CLOSED. THE DEALERSHIP WON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, YOU COULD SEE THE METAL IN THE SEAT. THE RADIO HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. IT IS NOW NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE CAR HAS A BAD SMELL, LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. THE SMELL IS COMING FROM ENGINE. DEALERSHIP REPORTS IT IS COMING FROM A COMPUTER CHIP AND IT STILL SMELLED AFTER REPLACEMENT. THE SAME SMELL RETURNED AND THEN THE OWNER RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE OWNER ADVISES THAT THERE IS STILL A BAD SMELL. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THE SMELL MUST BE SULFURIC ACID. THE OWNER WENT TO THE DOCTOR IN REGARDS TO THE BAD CHEMICAL SMELL THAT BURNS. THE VEHICLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY. OWNER PAID FOR CAR RENTAL. *JB THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVED WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES.*JB
ROTORS ARE BAD. HAD THE FRONT ONES REPLACED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT 4000 MILES. AT 16000 MILES WERE WARPED AGAIN, AS WELL AS THE REAR ONES. ALL 4 WERE TURNED AND NEW BRAKE PADS PUT ON AT APPROXIMATELY 24000 MILES. AT APPROXIMATELY 29000-30000 MILES, ALL 4 WERE WARPED AGAIN. NEW ROTORS PUT ON THE FRONT ONLY(DUE TO THE OUTRAGEOUS COST OF NEW ONES), AND IT HAS NOW ONLY BEEN A FEW THOUSAND MILES AND I BELIEVE THE FRONT ROTORS ARE STARTING TO GO BAD AGAIN. *NM
VEHICLE PURCAHSED 3/23/04. DISCOVERED LEAKS BEGINNING 4/11/04. VEHICLE HAS SINCE LEAKED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASSIONS. REQUESTED INFORMATION IS AS FOLLOWS: (1) NORMAL DRIVING, (2) FOUR SEPARATE LEAKS WITH EXTENSIVE WATER ENTRY INTO THE VEHICLE, (3) FIRST LEAK DEALERSHIP RESEALED DRIVER'S SIDE SKY-VIEW WINDOW (WINDOW IN ROOF ABOVE 2ND AND 3RD ROW SEATS), SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW, THIRD TIME THE RESEALED THE LUGGAGE RACK ROOF MOUNTS AND FOURTH TIME THEY RESEALED THE REAR SIDE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. *JB
QUEST SL 2004 HAS FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION TWICE; ONCE 2 WEEKS AFTER BUYING, AND THE SECOND ABOUT 4 WEEKS AFTER; DEALER NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE PROBLEM. WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THE VAN DOES NOT ACCELERATE, JUST MOVES VERY VERY SLOWLY, AS IF IT WAS IN A HIGHER GEAR. WHEN CAR IS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY.
PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN QUEST IN JANUARY OF 2004. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM EMITTED A VERY FOUL (MUSTY) ODOR THE FIRST TIME I USED THE SYSTEM IN MARCH. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER. THEY ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS AN ODOR, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER ON 9/16/04. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VAN ON 9/23/04. WHEN THE SMELL RETURNED, I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER ON 10/20/04. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS RIDE IN THIS VAN. AS SOON AS THEY WOULD SIT IN THE VAN, THEY WOULD ASK ABOUT THE SMELL. TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER ON 6/7/05 AS THE SMELL HAD RETURNED. THIS TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE IN-CABIN AIR FILTER (SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE) AND SPRAYED LYSOL IN THE VENTS AND A/C DUCTS. THE VAN CONTINUED TO SMELL AND WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON 6/21/05. THIS TIME, THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS DISASSEMBLED THE DASH TO ACCESS THE EVAPORATOR. THE MOISTURE DRAIN TUBE (WHICH IS CLEAR) WAS BROWN. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THIS. NISSAN CLEANED THE TUBE AND REASSEMBLED THE DASH. SINCE EACH OF THESE REPAIRS WAS WARRANTY WORK, I REQUESTED THAT NISSAN PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. SINCE NISSAN CLAIMS THAT NO REPAIR WORK WAS DONE, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL CAR EACH TIME. I CONDUCTED SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT MOLD AND BACTERIA IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR AUTOMOBILE A/C SYSTEMS. MOST CAR MANUFACTURERS HAVE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN DOES NOT. I MAILED A LETTER TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ONCE AND TOLD TO TAKE THE VAN BACK IN FOR SERVICE. EACH TIME I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I WOULD CALL THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS. HE NEVER RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS. DURING MY LAST SERVICE CALL WITH NISSAN ON 6/21/05, I GAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER A COPY OF A DOCUMENT THAT LISTS THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBS) THAT MOST CAR MANUFACTURERS HAVE FOR TREATING THE MOLD AND BACTERIA. NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE. *NM
I BOUGHT A 2004 NISSAN QUEST IN JANUARY OF 2004. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER. THE VAN HAD GOODYEAR EAGLE LS TIRES. WE HAVE HAD THE VAN A LITTLE OVER SIX MONTHS AND HAVE HAD THREE BLOWOUTS, ALL OCCURING ON THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. THE FIRST BLOWOUT OCCURRED THE FIRST MONTH WE HAD THE VAN. WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SECOND BLOWOUT OCCURRED AS MY WIFE WAS PULLING UP ON THE CURB TO PARK. THE THIRD BLOWOUT OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT AS SHE WAS TURNING A CORNER. THERE WERE FOUR RAILS ON THE GROUND AND THE TIRE GRAZED ONE AND TOTALLY BLEW. THIS WAS IN A CHURCH PARKING LOT AT A VERY LOW SPEED. THE FOURTH TIRE WAS REPLACED WHEN WE NOTICED A GOUGE IN THE RUBBER OF THE TIRE.WE HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. WHEN WE CONTACTED THE CAR DEALER, WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS TIRE AND GOODYEAR WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. MY WIFE AND I BOTH HAVE IMPECCABLE DRIVING RECORDS - NO ACCIDENTS, SPEEDING TICKETS, RECKLESS DRIVING ETC.. SO THIS IS NOT A CASE OF NEGLIGENT DRIVING ON OUR PART.*AK
THE "PASS AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT STAYS LIT INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN MY WIFE SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS CONDITION OCCURS 99 OUT OF 100 TIMES MY WIFE SITS IN THE SEAT. SHE IS PETITE AND WEIGHS BETWEEN 102 AND 103 POUNDS. I THINK THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD & AM VERY CONCERNED. *NM
PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN QUEST 3.5 SL 3/13/04. EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH CAR STARTING DURING FIRST WEEK. REQUESTED FULL CHECK OF ENGINE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR CUSTOM PACKAGE. UPGRADE AND ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC DURING 2ND WEEK. WAS NOT DONE! BEGINNING 3RD WEEK CAR WOULD NOT START. DEALERSHIP TOWED AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. RECEIVED. VEHICLE FOLLOWING DAY 4/02/04. ON THE WAY HOME FROM DEALERSHIP, CAR SUDDENLY DIED IN A TURN ON A MAJOR INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR. NEARLY HIT A CAR AND A CURB BEFORE I COULD STOP VEHICLE. MY CHILDREN WERE ONBOARD! UNKNOWN TO ME, GASOLINE WAS POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. CARS WERE ZOOMING BY ON THEIR WAY HOME. SOME MEN GOT MY CHILDREN AND I OUT OF THE CAR AND PUSHED TO CAR INTO A GAS STATION ON THAT CORNER. WE WERE IN THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WITH THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON, BEFORE I COULD SAFELY GET MY CHILDREN FROM THE CAR. DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN TOWED VEHICLE AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE FUEL RELATED PROBLEM. REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. MY VEHICLE TO THIS DAY DOES NOT GET NEAR THE REPORTED GUIDELINE FUEL CONSUMPTION RATINGS. WINDOW STICKER 19 - 26 MPG, LOWEST END RATINGS ON THIS MODEL ARE 16 - 22. MINE GETS 13 - 14.1 IN TOWN AND 17 TO 18 ON THE HIGHWAY. HAVE READ OF RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH LOW IMPACT CAUSING FIRE IN THE STEERING COLUMNS OF THE 2004 NISSAN QUEST, A PROBLEM AND RECALL THAT EXISTED LONG BEFORE THE 2004 MODELS. *AK
2004 NISSAN QUEST WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 3RD GEAR EVEN FROM DEAD STOP. *AK
HAD AN EPISODE WHERE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T GO INTO THE RIGHT GEAR. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE ENGINE RACED AND TOOK ALOT OF POWER TO START ROLLING. WHEN THIS OCCURS, I'VE FOUND IF THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES THE SOUND WILL WORK. THE PROBLEM HAS NO PREDICTABILITY. THE DEALER HAS NOT OBSERVED THE PROBLEM YET. HUMMING NOISE IS EXPERIENCED WHILE THE CAR IS GOING AT A CONSTANT SPEED OR GOING UP THE HILL. THIS NOISE WAS REPORTED THE FIRST DAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT AND THE NOISE HAS INCREASED OVER TIME. BOUGHT THE VAN BRAND NEW ON 2/29/04 AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. SINCE THEN, TAKEN THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES. EACH TIME I AM TOLD THAT IT IS A NORMAL CONDITION. EVEN NISSAN REP. CAME AND INSPECTED THE CAR AND MADE THE SAME COMMENT. IF IT IS A PROBLEM, IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED LIKE SO MANY OTHER THINGS ON THE VAN. *JB
MY NISSAN QUEST (2004) HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAS BEEN REPAIRED 6 TIMES AND IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. I HAVE A TERRIBLE VIBRATION UPON ACCERLERATION. I NOW HAVE A SHAKING SENSATION WHEN BRAKING, AND MY ENTIRE STERO SYSTEM IS FAILING.

THE CONSUMER STATED IT HAPPENED EVERY 4000 MILES SINCE SHE HAS HAD THE VEHICLE. IT FIRST HAPPENED IN MARCH OF 2004. THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING THE CONSUMER THAT THE BRAKES ARE HEATING UP. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED THREE TIMES. THEY ORDERED NEW ROTORS AND THEY HAVE BEEN ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHAKING AGAIN. SHE HAS ALSO GONE THROUGH TWO FUEL INJECTORS. BACK HATCH OPENS ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, ONCE AS WE WERE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND IT RIPPED OFF THE COVER OVER THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. SOMETIMES THE IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT TURN TO THE OFF POSITION. THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION IF THE SWITCH IS NOT IN THE OFF POSITION. WE PURCHASE A 2004 NISSAN QUEST MINIVAN APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO. THE VAN HAS HAD DOOR RATTLE PROBLEMS FROM DAY ONE. THE REAR DOOR RATTLED AND THE DEALER HAS REPLACED A HINGE THAT SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THAT. BOTH SLIDING DOOR RATTLE LIKE A BUCKET OF BOLTS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SERVICE NOW 3 TIMES FOR THIS. I HAVE A NISSAN QUEST 2004 THAT I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SLIDING DOORS. THE DEAL HAS TRIED TO FIX THEM A NUMBER OF TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. I HAVE HAD A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SLIDING DOORS ON MY NEW 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHAT STARTED AS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RATTLING OF THE REAR DOORS HAS ESCALATED TO THE POINT WHERE THE DOORS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I'VE TAKEN THE QUEST IN TO HAVE THE DOORS ADJUSTED FIVE TIMES AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND THE DOORS CONTINUE TO RATTLE. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WAS ACTUALLY ABLE TO STOP THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FROM RATTLING, BUT THIS RESULTED IN A DOOR NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED USING THE EXTERIOR HANDLE, YOU HAD TO USE THE KEY-FOB OR INTERIOR SWITCHES (NOT ACCEPTABLE IN A $33,000 AUTOMOBILE). THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK IN FOR SERVICE AND WHILE THE DOOR NOW OPERATES (SORT OF SEE BELOW), THE RATTLING IS BACK. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR DOES NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO WITHOUT INPUT DIRECT FROM NISSAN - I HOPE THEY ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION TO THE QUESTS SLIDING DOOR PROBLEMS! I OWN AN SL PURCHASED IN OCT 2003. THERE HAS BEEN ONE CONTINUAL PROBLEM AND THREE NEW PROBLEMS RECENTLY. FIRST THE NEW PROBLEMS: THE PAST 2 WEEKS TEMPS HAVE BEEN IN SINGLE DIGITS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO SNOW OR RAIN. I HAVE HAD TO KEEP CAR IN DRIVEWAY. FIRST TWO ITEMS - PASSENGER WINDOW WILL NOT OPEN AND CAR DOES NOT 'BEEP' WHEN I LOCK FROM REMOTE (WHICH MAKES ME HAVE TO TURN BACK AND DOUBLE CHECK THE DOORS ONLY TO FIND IT HAS INDEED LOCKED)- ARE ANNOYING AND I ATTRIBUTED THEM TO THE TEMPERATURE. THE THIRD PROBLEM OCCURRED YESTERDAY: PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE ONCE OPENED. IT WOULD BEEP, SLIDE ALMOST CLOSED, THEN OPEN RIGHT UP AGAIN. I COULD NOT FORCE IT TO REMAIN CLOSED. THIS HAPPENED IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, TEMPERATURE WAS -1 DEGREES, CAR HAD A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS WORTH OF PURCHASES INSIDE, AND I HAD MY VERY YOUNG CHILD WITH ME. AFTER CHECKING MANUAL AND SPEAKING WITH PEOPLE AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP (NEITHER OF WHICH WERE HELPFUL, TO BE HONEST) I TRIED CLEANING THE TRACKS AROUND DOOR. THERE WAS NO ICE, DIRT, SAND, ETC. AND STILL THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS NO MANUAL OVERRIDE WHICH WOULD HAVE ALLOWED ME TO CLOSE THE DOOR. LATER IN THE DAY AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN IN THE SUN A FEW HOURS, MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED ENOUGH TO GRAB AND LOCK IT. THIS DOOR ISSUE IS UNACCEPTABLE. WE HAVE THREE YOUNG CHILDREN AND PURPOSELY BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR IT'S RELIABILITY AND SAFETY. THERE WAS NOTHING RELIABLE NOR SAFE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO US YESTERDAY. THIS WAS DISCOVERED BY NISSAN AFTER COMPLAINING THREE TIMES, AND A MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE WHO DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND A BROKEN PLASTIC PIECE WITHIN THE STEERING. THIS VEHICLE WAS UNDER LEMON LAW INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY EXPLANATIONS AS TO WHY THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE CORRECTIONS, AT LEAST TEN TIMES. A "SAFETY FEATURE" OF THE VAN IS A HUGE HAZARD TO MY CHILDREN. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT WHEN THE ELECTRIC DOOR SHUTS, IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO CLOSE IF SOMEONE (A CHILD IS IN THE WAY). I AM A 6 FOOT 9, 270-POUND MAN, AND IF I AM IN THE WAY, THE SLIDING DOOR PHYSICALLY MOVES AND CRUSHES ME AGAINST THE FRAME BEFORE IT OPENS BACK UP.
