TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE NOT TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY LOST SPEED, DECELERATING WHEN GOING UPHILL. IT WENT FROM 70MPH TO LESS THAN 20MPH. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN PROVIDED NO RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE. NISSAN IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR MODEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CAR WILL LOSE POWER. WE PRESS THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND CAR DECELERATES; THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER. THE LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED AUGUST 8. WE WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 80MPH; WE STARTED UP A HILL AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER; SPEED WENT DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH. FINALLY REGAINED SPEED ON FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD BUT EVERY TIME WE HIT A SLIGHT INCLINE WE WOULD LOSE POWER. PART OF THE TIME WE WERE ON A TWO LANE HI-WAY AND CARS WERE BACKING UP BEHIND US. THEN, AFTER GOING ALONG WITH NO PROBLEMS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME WE PULLED OF AT AN EXIT. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN WHEN WE TRIED TO MOVE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE GROUND AND CAR DID NOT MOVE-THEN IT LURCHED SUDDENLY AND ACCELERATED. LATER IN THE DRIVE-ON A FLAT GROUND GOING 80 MPH CAR LURCHED AND DECELERATED --AS I SAID, THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE; THIS LAST INCIDENT WAS MOST FRUSTRATING AS WE WERE ON A LONG ROAD TRIP AND FEELING VERY UNSAFE.
STRAIGHT OUT THE LOT 13 MILES ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2010 ROUGE, IT STARTED TO MAKE NOISES WHEN I WOULD GO OVER A DIP OR A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD (30,000 MILES OR SO). THE NOISE SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE. I TOOK IT IN 2-3 TIMES TO NISSAN THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT ALSO STARTED MAKING A VIBRATING NOISE WHEN I WOULD BE IDLING AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE VIBRATING SOUND I WAS TOLD WAS DUE TO THE THROTTLE BEING DIRTY. I HAD THAT CLEANED AND A FEW MONTHS LATER IT STATED DOING AGAIN. MY ROUGE NOW HAS OVER 100,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IT STARTED LOOSING POWER AND IT IS NOT ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ON MY WAY TO DALLAS AND MY ROUGE WOULDN'T SPEED UP, I WAS DRIVING LIKE 78 MPH AND THEN DECELERATES TO 55 MPH, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT IT HAS HAPPENED, PRETTY SCARY STUFF. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE NEXT EXIT AND CHECK OUT MY CAR. ONCE I TRIED TO GET ON THE ROAD AGAIN MY CAR REFUSED TO MOVE IT WAS ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO TURN OFF, SORT OFF LIKE WHEN YOU MAKE AN ABRUPT STOP AND IT JERKS. IT TOOK OF VERY SLOWLY AND THEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL.
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR, THE CVT NO LONGER WORKS AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE, EVEN IF YOU PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. IT WILL NOT GO ABOVE 2,000 RPMS AND IF YOU GO UP A HILL YOU WILL LOSE ACCELERATIONS. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AFTER AN HOUR OR MORE OF DRIVING. THE ONLY WAY TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE ISSUE IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF FOR A WHILE. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED MAJOR ACCIDENTS ON THE HIGHWAY.
CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS, PRECARIOUS PLACE FOR NISSAN TO PUT DRIVERS AS THEY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS IN NEED OF A RECALL BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH ON A HOT DAY 90 DEGREES. I WAS USING MAX A/C. CAR WAS FINE AND SUDDENLY FELT SLUGGISH AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. I PULLED OFF AT NEXT AVAILABLE EXIT, AFTER A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR REFUSED TO MOVE THEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED SLOWLY SIMILAR TO WHEN AN ABRUPT BRAKE IS APPLIES AND CAR MOVES VERY SLOWLY (EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION ALL THE ROUGES HAVE) I SHUT OFF THE A/C AND LET CAR REST FOR 5 MINUTES THEN GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY, ALTHOUGH FEELING SLUGGISH I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION. ON MY RIDE HOME SEVERAL HOURS LATER I DID NOT USE A/C AND OUTSIDE TEMPS HAD DROPPED TO MID 70, THE CAR APPEARED FINE. I WILL NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED 2 YEARS EARLIER IN THE SUMMER OF 2013 AT 87,000 MILES DURING ANOTHER LONG HIGHWAY TRIP DRIVING IN HIGH TEMPS. IN THIS CASE I CANCELLED TRIP AND BROUGHT CAR TO THE DEALER AFTER COOL DOWN PERIOD, THE PROBLEM DIDN'T PRESENT ITSELF, NO DASH LIGHTS OR CODES SAME AS PREVIOUS. THE DEALER CHARGED ME $1800.00 TO CHANGE DIRTY TRANSMISSION FLUID. PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN AT 112,000 MILES. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS THAT IS "DANGEROUS". HAD I NEEDED TO COME TO AN ABRUPT STOP ON THE HIGHWAY I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY AND AS A SEPARATE ISSUE WHEN YOU ABRUPTLY BRAKE THE CAR CAN'T GET OUT OF IT'S OWN WAY AND HAS SCARED ME SEVERAL TIMES.
THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED I WAS EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY AND AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A WEIRD NOISE. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE GREEN LIGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FOR 15 SECONDS. I EVEN TRIED SLAMMING THE GAS PEDAL DOWN. AFTER THAT I WOULD ALWAYS HEAR A WHINING NOISE WHEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR A PROLONGED AMOUNT OF TIME. WHEN DRIVING OUT OF STATE TO TENNESSEE THE CAR STARTED TO DECREASE IN SPEED ON A HILL AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A COP. PULLING OVER AT A GAS I LET THE CAR SIT FOR 30 MINS. I TRIED TO RENTER THE EXPRESSWAY AND THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER A WHILE I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE EXPRESSWAY. ONCE IN TENNESSEE THE CAR BARELY MADE IT UP THE HILLS I HAD TO TIME IT JUST RIGHT. ON THE WAY BACK TO GA THE CAR BEGAN THE ISSUES AGAIN AND WHILE TRYING TO PULL OFF THE CAR DECREASED IN SPEED SO QUICKLY I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI-TRUCK. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR THE ELECTRICAL RECALL THAT DID NOT HELP. THE CAR HAS HAD TWO COMPLETE TUNE UPS NOR HAS NOT WORKED. I REFUSE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET FOR ANOTHER TRANSMISSION; WHICH HAS NOT AIDED OTHERS IN THIS SAME SITUATION. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR A YEAR. EVERYDAY IT'S A GUESSING GAME IF THE CAR WILL EVER GET ME TO AND FROM WORK SAFELY.
I BOUGHT THIS 2010 NISSAN ROUGUE 5 MONTHS BACK FROM CARMAX, LEXINGTON, KY. I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY FROM LEXINGTON, KY TO CARY, NC AND NEW YORK, NY EVERY QUARTER. I USED MY SON CAR CAMRY AND RENTAL CARS( CHEVVY, FORD, TOYOTA AND NISSAN ULTIMA), BUT NEVER FACED THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN ONCE ON HIGHWAY I SET THE VEHICLE IN CRUISE CONTROL FOR 72 MPH, SUDDENLY WHEN THE HIGHWAY ELEVATION STARTS TO GO UP, THE CRUISE CONTROL IS DROPPED AND THE VEHICLE STARTS SPEED STARTS TO SLIDE UP TO 30...THE ELAST IT DROPPED IS 29 MPH, EVWN WHILE YOU ARE PRESSING ACCELERATOR ( INFACT IT IS FLOORED ). THEN I STOPPED USING CRUISE CONTROL, BUT FOR EVERY ELEVATION THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, THIAS CONTINUES TILL I STOPPED GETTING HIGH ALTITUDES. AROUND LEXINGTON, KY WHERE EVER I GO I HIT MOUNTAINS, SO I STARTED FACING THIS PROBLEM, WHEN EVER I HIT US 64 E, US 77N OR S AND US 75 N OR S........YESTERDAY MY SELF, MY WIFE AND MY DAUGHTER ARE COMING HOME FROM NEW YORK TO LEXINGTON, THE PROBLEM STARTED ONCE IT HITS MOUNTAINS AND CONTINUES TILL WESCHESTER, KY WHIVH IS 20 MILES FROM LEXINGTON, KY. THE DRIVE OF 12 HOURS, TOOK ABSOLUTELY 22 HRS WITH BREAK FOR EVERY 3 HRS ( BREAK OF 20 TO 25 MTS), OTHER THAN BREAKS JUST IMAGINE ON HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STARTS TO DROP THE SPEED AND WHAT HAPPENS WITH VEHICLES BEHIND YOU, EVEN HIGHLY LOADED TRUCKS CROSSED US AND DROVE COMFORTABLY.......IT IS A SERIOUS DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH NISSAN ROUGUE...TO BE RECTIFIED OR FIXING THE PROBLEM. THE SAME ROUTES I DROVE IN DIFFERENT VEHICLE AS MENTIONED ABOVE EVEN NISSAN UTIMA AS RENTAL CAR, NO ISSUES, BUT FOR THIS VEHICLE. THEN ONLINE I FOUND THAT MINE IS NOT THE FIRST OR LAST VEHICLE, THERE ARE MORE NISSAN ROGUES LIKE THIS. WE NEED JUSTICE FROM THE NISSAN USA.
I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP ABOUT 2 HOURS OR SO INTO A 7 HOUR DRIVE AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE UP INCLINES. ABSOLUTELY NO POWER!! THE GAS PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. I WENT FROM 75MPH TO 45MPH AND WAS ALMOST HIT FROM THE REAR. THIS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE RETURN TRIP, BUT THIS TIME I KNEW ENOUGH TO GET IN THE SLOW LANE WHEN I APPROACHED AN INCLINE. ONCE I WAS ON STRAIGHT, FLAT PARTS OF THE INTERSTATE IT TOOK A LITTLE WHILE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK UP TO SPEED. I STOPPED FOR GAS AND TRIED TO BACK UP ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND I COULD SHIFT INTO REVERSE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. A SHORT TIME INTO THE REST OF THE TRIP HOME MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. VERY DANGEROUS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL IN THIS VEHICLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF WATER IN THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS SETRUP ON CRUISE FOR 70 MILES, SUDDENLY THE CRUISE COAST WAS SHOIU OFF AND VEHICLE START GOING DOWN, EVEN WHILE WE PRESS ACCELARATOR, NO RESPONSE. THE ACCELERATOR WAS COMPLETLY FLOORED, BUT THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TILL IT REACHES 35 MPH. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND SHUTOFF THE VEHICLE FOR 15 MTS AND RE STARTED. IT PERFORMED NORMALLY TILL HIGH ELEVATION CAME AND THEN STARTED THE SAME ISSUE, THIS TIME WITH OUT CRUISE CONTROL ON. LIKE THIS IT WENT ON TILL I REACH PENNSYLVANIA STATE. THIS HSPPEND WHILE I AM TRAVELING FROM LEXINGTON, KY TO NEW YORK NY. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE COMING BACK, ONCE I CROSSED PENNSYLVANIA AND REACHED US 68 MARYLAND AND CONTINUED TILL I REACH US 64 TILL WESCHESTER. THIS TIME ME, MY WIFE AND MY DAUGHTER ARE PANNICKED FOR EVERY TWO OR THREE HOURS AND TOOK BREAK FOR 20 MTS FOR EVERY THREE HOURS. THE TOTAL 12 HRS TRAVELL TOOK 20 HRS FOR US TO REACH LEXINGTON, KY. 2010 NISSAN ROUGUE IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD, I BOUGHT IT FROM CARMAX, LEXINGTON, KY. THIS I OBSERVED ON HIGHWAYS AND WHILE GOING IN ELEVATIONS, IF THAT IS THE CASE FROM LEXINGTON WHERE EVER I TRAVEL IS ALWAYS HIGH ELEVATIONS. PLEASE GIVE JUSTICE TO US.
I WAS DRIVING 80 MPH WITH TRAFFIC ON A HEAVILY CONGESTED HWY - I-4 WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. THERE HAD BEEN A HIGH PITCHED WHINE DURING THE LAST HOUR OF TRAVEL AND THE CAR JUST STARTED DECELERATING. AIR TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS APPROX. 80 DEGREES. THERE WAS A SMELL POSSIBLY OF LEAKING FLUID. TOOK TO DEALER AND THERE IS A KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM ON NISSAN VEHICLES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION CAUSING THEM TO OVERHEAT, ETC. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TRANSMISSION FAILURES. I WAS STUCK ON A HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE AND IT TOOK 2 HOURS TO GET TO A DEALER WHICH WAS ONE AND A HALF HOURS AWAY FROM HOME. *TR
DRIVING TO THE BEACH, ABOUT TWO HOURS IN ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70+, I NOTICED THE CAR LAGGED AFTER I STOPPED ON AN EXIT WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AT THE LIGHT. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AND WENT ON TO GET FOOD. THEN ANOTHER HOUR LATER I FELT MY SPEED SUDDENLY DROPPING. I WAS GOING 80 ON CRUISE CONTROL AND THEN DROPPED DOWN TO 70, EVEN THOUGH I WAS PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY I HAD TIME TO PULL OVER TO AN EXIT, I WAITED ABOUT 15 MINS AND THE CAR SEEMED FINE. ABOUT ANOTHER 45 MINUTES LATER, I WAS DRIVING AND TRYING TO MERGE ON 1-95, THE RAMP IS A BIG CURVE SO I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH, WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. A TRACTOR TRAILER ALMOST SLAMMED INTO THE BACK BUT LUCKILY I PULLED OFF THE ROAD JUST IN TIME. BUT THE PLACE I HAD TO PULL OVER WAS UNSAFE AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO MERGE ON THE INTERSTATE SAFELY, BUT I HAD NO CHOICE OF WHERE TO PULL OVER BECAUSE I WAS JUST TRYING TO NOT GET HIT. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND NOW MY PARENTS WORRY ABOUT MY SAFETY ANYTIME I NEED TO TRAVEL IN THIS CAR FOR OVER 2 HOURS.
I HAVE A NISSAN ROGUE. MY ROGUE HAS BEEN LOSING POWER AND HAVING ISSUES ACCELERATING AT TIMES. I AM NOT SURE WHY IT IS MAINLY WHEN I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR A LONG TIME. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED BECAUSE IT DOESN'T DO IT WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC. I AM NOT SURE HOW TO GO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I DO FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE SEVERAL ROGUE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
2010 NISSAN ROGUE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR RECALL NOTICE, DRIVER SEAT SLIDES BACK, ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT AND OTHER VEHICLE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND THE VEHICLE HAD A JERKING EFFECT WHILE DRIVING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, OTHER DRIVER'S ALERTED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THROUGH A WINDOW. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V032000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,200.
ON FEB 4, 2015 I WAS CALLED BY POLICE DEPT THAT MY CAR ALARM WAS SOUNDING I WENT OUT TO CAR AND TRIED TO SILENCE ALARM WITH REMOTE,BUT THAT DID NOT WORK HAD TO USE KEY IN REMOTE TO OPEN TRIED TO START DID NOT START OPENED HOOD AND DISCONNECTED WIRE TO BATTERY UPON ENTERING CAR SMELLED BURNT WIRE AND SAW THAT THE KICK PANEL WIRING HARNESS CONNECTER WAS ALL BURNT UP A BIG WHOLE IN TOP OF DASH, BURNT AND CRACKED WINDOW GLASS, THINGS INSIDE CAR BURNT UP. CALLED INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT. ON FEB 9 CALLED NISSAN AND REPORTED THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME IN 2 DAYS TODAY IS THE 2ND DAY AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET. I AM GOING TO CALL THEM AGAIN TODAY. IF I HAD BEEN IN THE CAR I WOULD HAVE BEEN BADLY BURNT OR DEAD. *TR

DRIVING AT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY LOOSE POWER. SPEED WOULD DROP FROM 70 MPH TO 45-50 MPH VERY QUICKLY. IT SEEMED LIKE WITHIN 100-200 YARDS. THIS OCCURRED ON FLAT GROUND AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL HOURS OR SOONER WHEN GOING THROUGH HILLY TERRAIN, SUCH AS THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS. ONCE THE EVENT OCCURRED, IT WOULD REOCCUR. FOR EXAMPLE IT WOULD SLOW QUICKLY GOING UP A HILL, THEN GOING DOWN THE HILL YOU COULD GET BACK UP TO SPEED. ONCE YOU STARTED UP THE NEXT HILL, YOU WOULD LOOSE SPEED VERY QUICKLY AGAIN. ON FLAT GROUND AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, ANYTIME YOU ACCELERATED - SUCH AS DURING PASSING, IT WOULD LOOSE SPEED. TO TEMPORARILY "RESET" THE CAR, WE WOULD STOP FOR 10-15 MIN. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE CAR TO BE DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR BEFORE IT WOULD REOCCUR. TWO THINGS HAPPEN AS A RESULT OF THIS, ONE WHEN WE WERE PASSING A TRUCK WHO WAS SLOWED BY A HILL, WE PARTIALLY GOT AROUND THE TRUCK, THEN IMMEDIATELY LOST SPEED. CARS FOLLOWING US WOULD REALLY NEED TO BE PAYING ATTENTION. ON FLAT GROUND YOU WOULD JUST LOOSE SPEED IMMEDIATELY AND CARS WOULD QUICKLY CATCH UP. SECOND, STOPPING FREQUENTLY CAUSES TRIPS TO TAKE A LOT MORE TIME. CHECKING THE INTERNET RESULTED IN NISSAN'S KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM WHICH CAUSED THEM TO INCREASE THE WARRANTY. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE WITH THE SHIFT LEVER IN DRIVE. WHEN I TRIED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE TO BACK UP I COULD GET NO FARTHER THAN NEUTRAL. THE RELEASE BUTTON ON THE SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE. I COULD NOT GET INTO REVERSE OR PARK. I MANAGED TO GET THE COVER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SHIFT LEVER OFF AND A BROKEN PIECE OF GRAY PLASTIC FELL OUT. THE SHIFT LEVER RELEASE BUTTON THEN WORKED AND I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND INTO PARK. I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS. NOT BEING ABLE TO GET INTO REVERSE IN A TIMELY MANNER COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS SITUATION TO DEVELOP. I SAVED THE BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT JAMMED THE RELEASE LEVER. *JS
FIRST OFF, THERE WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT...BUT THERE SURELY WOULD BE IF THIS CAR WERE TO BE DRIVEN IN ITS PRESENT STATE. ESSENTIALLY, CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE CVT (TRANSMISSION), SO THAT, WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR WOULD RESULT IN INCREASE IN RPM BUT NO FORWARD MOTION AT FIRST. IT MIGHT EVENTUALLY ENGAGE, BUT OPERATION IS TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE. EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND NISSAN DID DOUBLE THE WARRANTY THEY FAILED TO NOTIFY OWNERS CLAIMING THAT BECAUSE IT WASN'T A RECALL, IT WAS NOT REQUIRED. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY 10,000 MILES OUTSIDE THE *NEW* WARRANTY MILEAGE LIMIT, BUT HAD OWNER BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS IMPENDING FAILURE, REPAIRS COULD HAVE BEEN EFFECTED INSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE RETURNING HOME DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HWY WHEN CAR SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY LOSS ACCELERATION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, GOING FROM 75-80 MPH TO 50-60 MPH WITHIN A MINUTE CAUSING BRAKING AND SWERVING OF CARS BEHIND US BECAUSE WE WERE IN LEFT LANE AND COULD NOT GET OVER. SEEMED TO OCCUR ON UPWARD INCLINE OF ROAD. TOOK CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP BECAUSE WARRANTY IS STILL IN EFFECT, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR DIAGNOSES SHOWED NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME HE KNEW OF SOME PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSIONS, BUT COULD NOT MAKE REPAIRS UNLESS CORPORATE NISSAN REIMBURSED THEM. I WAS BASICALLY TOLD TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT "BROKE' AND THEN THEY COULD FIX IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR ON INTERSTATE NOW- FEAR DEADLY CRASH. *TR
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROUGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) HAD OVERHEATED CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BURN UP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
AS WE ACCELERATED THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK. AFTER A FEW MILES THE CAR SLOWED DOWN IN SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO PASSED 40MPH. THE CAR WAS SET TO 70MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL THEN IT DROPPED SPEED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE CAUSING ME TO GET OFF OF HIGHWAY RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THIS TIME IT'S WORSE. *TR
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES CONTINUOUSLY ON DASH. AIR BAG SYSTEM INDICATOR SAYS THAT AIR BAGS ARE OFF. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN THAT SENSOR IS BAD AND REQUIRES MORE THAN $2000 FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT.
