I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET IN MARYLAND AND STEPPED ON MY BRAKES AND MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED.
WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, THE CAR SOMETIMES JUST SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY AND TURNS OFF. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND RESTART IT. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN I HAVE SLOWED THE CAR DOWN TO GO OVER SPEED BUMPS, WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. IT ALSO HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY ON-RAMP. NISSAN HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT.
SEVERAL TIME THE CAR HAS NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I WOULD PRESS THE GAS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL SUDDENLY IT SEEMED TO "CATCH". JUST RECENTLY DRIVING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 75MPH THE CAR GRADUALLY SLOWED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT DROPPED DOWN TO ABOUT 65 MPH AND THEN EVENTUALLY GRADUALLY ACCELERATED. WHEN I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. AGAIN, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN I GOT HOME I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO "REV" THE ENGINE AND AT FIRST NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. I HAD MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS ROGUE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED TWICE! THIS TRANSMISSION HAS ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
HI, I AM EXPERIENCING A KNOWN "CVT OVERHEATING" PROBLEM WITH MY ROGUE. WHAT'S HAPPENING IS THAT WHEN THE CVT GETS MORE THEN SOME THRESHOLD TEMPERATURE IT GOES TO SO CALLED "SAFE" MODE AND THE CAR LOOSES SPEED DRAMATICALLY, INCLUDING SITUATIONS ON A HIGH WAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! I BROUGHT ME VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES AND AS A RESULT THEY SUGGESTED TO INSTALL A "COOLER KIT" BY NISSAN WHICH POTENTIALLY CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM JUST BY COOLING THE CVT IS A "BETTER" WAY. THEY ARE ASKING FOR ABOUT $1200 FOR THE INSTALLATION. I SEE THAT AS A NISSAN'S DESIGN FLOW. I DON'T THINK PAYING FOR THIS OUT OF MY POCKET IS THE RIGHT SOLUTION. I BOUGHT A NEW 2010 NISSAN ROGUE SL AWD IN JULY 2010. AT ABOUT 50-60K MILES, THE ENGINE WOULD CUT OFF IF I CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 60-65MPH AND THEN BRAKING ' AT A RED LIGHT FOR INSTANCE. I HAVE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR NOT ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS. THIS HAPPENED FEW TIMES AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY A PROBLEM AFTER DOING A TEST DRIVE. I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE NISSAN IS NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THESE MANY COMPLAINTS OF SAME OR VERY SIMILAR PROBLEMS. TODAY, 9/27/16, MY CAR ENGINE CUT OFF WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, I WAS SUPER LUCKY MY CAR WAS NOT HIT BY A TRUCK, WHICH COULD HAVE ENDED WITH ME BEING KILLED.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 75 MPH FOR AROUND 30-40 MINUTES WHEN THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND BEGAN DECELERATING. I HAD MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND IT JUST KEPT LOSING SPEED. LUCIKLY I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO THE RIGHT LANE, BECAUSE I WANTED TO GET INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE WHEN THE CAR FINALLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THE CAR BEGAN ACTING NORMAL AFTER THAT UNTIL I GOT OFF THE EXIT RAMP ABOUT 10 MINS LATER. I STOPPED AT THE END OF THE RAMP AND WHEN IT WAS MY TURN TO GO THE CAR HAD AGAIN NO POWER. MY FOOT WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR JUST BEGAN TO ROLL, I QUICKLY HAD TO TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY HUSBAND AND I WAITED FOR A FEW MOMENTS AND THEN THE CAR DROVE NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES TO ME NOW, ALWAYS AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 30-45 MINS. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ONLINE AND HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE, BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO FILE ANY KIND OF RECALL. I HAVE OWNED A FEW NISSANS BUT AFTER THIS, AND READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM THIS IS MY LAST ONE. I COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE IF THIS HAD CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT EVERYONE DRIVING A ROGUE IS DRIVING A TICKING BOMB SINCE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND INVESTIGATED AS TO WHY NISSAN IS NOT FIXING AN ISSUE THAT THEY KNOW EXISTS. DO THEY CARE THAT LITTLE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY 70-75 MPH SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST POWER AND SPED DOWN TO 45 -50 MPH,I TRY TO PRESS THE GAS DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND NO RESULTS' PULLED OVER FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN RESUMED TO DRIVE.I CHECKED THE RATINGS AND NOTICE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM .VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION,I DON'T THINK NISSAN WANTS ANYBODY KILL ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF NEGLIGENCE ! MY 2010 NISSAN ROUGE HAS 79,000 MILES AND WAS RECENTLY PURCHASED LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AGO. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 55MPH. I WOULD PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR BUT IT STILL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE.I THEN PULLED OVER & LIFTED THE HOOD BUT THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS SIGNS AND THE CAR WAS NOT OVERHEATED. I LET THE CAR REST AND THEN GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY BUTHE ISSUE STILL CONTINUED.WHILE RESEARCHING ONLINE I REALIZED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS 2010 NISSAN ROUGE OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE FOR YEARS NOW. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE REVIEWED FOR ALL 2010 NISSAN ROUGES!
AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, THE CAR DECELARATES AND I AM UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. THIS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL I AM GOING ABOUT 55 MPH. ONCE I GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOP, THE CAR WILL NOT GO AGAIN UNTIL AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGERS WHEN TRYING TO GET INTO TRAFFIC AFTER TRAVELING ONTHE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES NOW. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY NISSAN ASAP.

FINALLY REGAINED SPEED ON FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD BUT EVERY TIME WE HIT A SLIGHT INCLINE WE WOULD LOSE POWER. I WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT WOULD JUST DECELERATE COMPLETELY. IT DID IT SPORADICALLY. AFTER I STOPPED AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR AND PROCEEDED AGAIN, IT SEEMED BETTER FOR A SHORT TIME; THEN IT WOULD START UP AGAIN. IT'S VERY SCARY AND EVERYONE WAS PASSING US.....INCLUDING OTHER NISSAN ROGUES AND SOME TINY CARS?? THIS IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS A RECALL!! PLEASE HELP!

MY 2010 ROGUE LOSES POWER WHEN ACCELERATING UP A HILL. I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND LET THE ENGINE COOL DOWN FOR 30 MINUTES THEN THE CAR RUNS OK FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES THEN IT LOSES POWER AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 2 YEARS. I DON'T DRIVE IN HILLS OFTEN SO IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 TIMES.
THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION AFTER DRIVING FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS A RISK GOING UP THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA. TRACTOR TRAILERS GET RIGHT ON OUR BUMPER WHEN THE CAR DROPS BELOW 50 MILES PER HOUR THINKING WE ARE SLOW DRIVERS. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE WORKED WITH THE LOCAL DEALER BUT DID NOT COME UP WITH A SOLUTION/REPAIR SO WE HAVE TO PICK UP THE CAR AND CONTINUE TO BE AT RISK. I HAVE NISSAN ROUGE 2010. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. EVERYTHING WAS OK UNTIL LAST 7, 8 MONTHS WHEN START WITH PROBLEMS. YESTERDAY ME, MY WIFE AND FIVE YEARS OLD DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING FROM HOUSTON, TX TO SAN ANTONIO TX WHICH IS 180 MILES, I WAS DRIVING 70-75 MPH ON I-10 WHEN SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN I LOST MY SPEED TO UNDER 40 MPH AND 18 WHEELER BEHIND US ALMOST HIT US. I OWN A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE, WHICH WILL, WITHOUT NOTICE, AFTER RUNNING A FEW MILES IN A HIGHWAY, IT HESITATES AND LOOSE ALL ACCELERATIONS.. HAVE HAD NEAR REAR END COLLISIONS. I HAVE A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE THAT HAS 60,000 MILES AND THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS IT HAS BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65MPH. WHEN I WOULD PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40MPH. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING LONGER THAN 1 HOUR AND WHEN GOING UPHILL. NONE OF THE SERVICE LIGHTS WOULD LIGHT UP, BUT IT WAS VERY SCARY DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY GOING 65MPH ONE MINUTE AND THEN 40MPH THE NEXT MINUTE, ESPECIALLY THIS HIGHWAY HAS A MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT OF 55MPH! THIS HAS BEEN MY ONLY REAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE TIRES CONSTANTLY DEFLATING AND THE AWD DOES NOT DO AS WELL I EXPECTED IN THE SNOW.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH OVER SMOOTH OR FLAT ROAD SURFACES, THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WERE ON AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT LANE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE THE GEAR INTO REVERSE AND REVERSE THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CONTACT CONSULTED A SECOND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

FINALLY REGAINED SPEED ON FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD BUT EVERY TIME WE HIT A SLIGHT INCLINE WE WOULD LOSE POWER. PART OF THE TIME WE WERE ON A TWO LANE HI-WAY AND CARS WERE BACKING UP BEHIND US. THEN, AFTER GOING ALONG WITH NO PROBLEMS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME WE PULLED OF AT AN EXIT. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN WHEN WE TRIED TO MOVE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE GROUND AND CAR DID NOT MOVE-THEN IT LURCHED SUDDENLY AND ACCELERATED. LATER IN THE DRIVE-ON A FLAT GROUND GOING 80 MPH CAR LURCHED AND DECELERATED --AS I SAID, THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE; THIS LAST INCIDENT WAS MOST FRUSTRATING AS WE WERE ON A LONG ROAD TRIP AND FEELING VERY UNSAFE
MY VEHICLE GAS GUAGE RAN OUT OF GAS WITH 3 BARS SHOWING. VERY DANGEROUS
AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR I SEE SMOKE ENTERING FROM THE DASHBOARD, I KNEW THAN THAT MY CAR WILL BURST ON FIRE. I PARKED ON AN EMPTY PARKING RIGHT AWAY AND GOT OUT FROM THE CAR AND RUN AS FAST AS I CAN. THE CAR QUICKLY CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM THE HOOD AND BY THE TIME THE FIRE FIGHTERS SHOWED UP THE CAR WAS HALF WAY BURNED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COIL SPRING INSIDE THE AIR BAG INFLATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
WE HAVE A 2010 NISSAN ROUGE THAT WILL BE DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTS DECELERATING TO LESS THAN 70 MPH ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. EVEN TRYING TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN DOES NOT DO ANYTHING. WE PURCHASED THIS NISSAN FOR OUR CHILD TO DRIVE TO COLLEGE BECAUSE WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SAFE. WE HAVE MAJOR CONCERNS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN ON THE INTERSTATE. DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHEN DRIVEN JUST LOCALLY. IT ONLY HAS 65K MILES ON IT. THOUGHT NISSAN'S WERE SUPPOSED TO LAST FOREVER AND BE SAFE. DON'T FEEL SAFE SENDING MY CHILD TO COLLEGE IN IT ANYMORE BECAUSE THIS IS HAPPENING SO FREQUENTLY.

WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTS TO DECREASE SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPEN A COUPLE OF TIMES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT NISSAN IS GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS SINCE THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAS HAD THIS VERY SAME COMPLAINT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. THIS IS THE 2ND TRANSMISSION THAT WE HAVE HAD IN THIS VEHICLE AND IT STARTED GIVING US ISSUES RIGHT AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY COVERAGE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT WHEN WE ARE DRIVING ON LONGER, FREEWAY TRIPS THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO DECCELERATE. ONCE THIS HAPPENS IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40MPH. THIS IS HAPPENING ON MAJOR INTERSTATES WITH SPEED LIMITS OF 70 MPH OR MORE. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPMS DROP SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY THE SPEED. EVEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DOWN TO THE FLOOR WILL NOT GIVE THE VEHICLE ANY MORE SPEED. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELLING IN HILLY AREAS AS THE CAR CAN AND DOES SLOW DOWN TO 20 MPH WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. OFTEN TIMES THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE SO WE ARE FORCED TO DRIVE AT DANGEROUSLY SLOW SPEEDS UNTIL WE CAN FIND A PLACE TO SAFELY PULL OVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US MANY TIMES, OFTEN WHEN PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED AT NIGHT AND SINCE WE ARE NOT BRAKING THERE IS NOT INDICATOR TO THE TRAFFIC AROUND US THAT WE ARE SLOWING DOWN SO QUICKLY. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS ON FAMILY VACATIONS SO WE HAVE 2 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH US. IT TENDS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN IN HOT TEMPERATURES BUT IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 25 DEGREES F. IT HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY WHILE IN MOTION. AS I SAID IT HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES BUT MOST RECENTLY OVER SPRING BREAK. IT ALSO HAPPENED MANY TIMES WITH THE 1ST TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 87000 MILES. THE NEW TRANSMISSION HAS ABOUT 75000 MILES ON IT BUT I AM BEING TOLD THAT SINCE THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS OVER 120000 MILES THAT THE CVT IS NO LONGER COVERED EVEN THOUGHT IT ONLY HAS 75000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON AN INCLINE AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 30 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHEN DRIVING IT SUDDENLY STOPPED WITHOUT A WARNING. WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ALL THE COOLANT WAS SPILLED. IT SCAPE THROUGH A TINY WHOLE MADE FROM INSIDE OUT IN THE TRANSMISSION THERMOSTAT IN THE TUBING CONNECTED TO THE TRANSMISSION. I THINK NISSAN IS USING POOR QUALITY MATERIALS FOR THE COOLING SYSTEM TUBE CONNECTORS. Y HAVE A 20 YEARS OLD HYUNDAI AND ITS COOLING SYSTEM HAS NEVER FAILED. I ALSO HAVE A 15 YEARS TOYOTA COROLLA AND ITS COOLING SYSTEM HAS NEVER FAILED. THE CONCERN THERMOSTAT PERFORATED THROUGH ITS WALL FROM INSIDE OUT.

ON 12/7/15 I HONESTLY THOUGHT SOMEONE SHOT AT MY CAR! DRIVING ON ROUTE 7 IN KEARNY, N.J., NO OTHER VEHICLES NEAR MINE. I HAD THE INTERIOR SHADE CLOSED, BUT COULD HEAR PIECES OF GLASS BREAKING AND REALIZED IT WAS MY SUNROOF THAT WAS COMING APART. I CALLED INSURANCE AND THEY ASKED IF I HAD DRIVEN UNDER AN OVERPASS, NO MENTION OF EXPLOSION. I PAID TO HAVE THE SUNROOF REPLACED AT LIDO AUTO BODY IN BELLEVILLE COSTING ME $303.35. ALMOST SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, I FELT WHILE DRIVING THAT THE MOTOR WAS SHAKING AND I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME MUST BE THE AXLE, THEN I TOOK IT TO THE UNIVERSAL NISSAN IN ORLANDO, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOTHING, AND THAT WAS NORMAL IN THE CVT,MOTORS. IT KEPT DOING IT AND I TOOK IT AGAIN TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, NOTHING WAS FOUND, NOW AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED I TOOK IT FOR A OIL CHANGE AND THEY FOUND THAT THE RIGHT AXLE HAVE TO BE REPLACE ENTIRELY, SINCE THE OIL TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING FROM IT, AND THAT THE PART THAT HOLD THE MOTOR HAVE TO BE REPLACE TOO, SINCE THE BUSHING FELL APART AND IT IS DANGEROUS, I KNOW THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN DOESN'T WANT TO FIX IT UNLESS A LOT OF MONEY IS PAID, THEY WERE JUST GIVING EXCUSES SO THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, SO NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE A LOT. THIS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN RECALLS.
IN HIGHWAY DRIVING CONDITIONS THE TRANSMISSION WILL OVER HEAT. THE TRANSMISSION THEN GOES INTO SAFE MODE AND DISENGAGES FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAR THEN LOSES POWER. YOU ARE THEN STUCK ON A HIGHWAY WITH TRAFFIC AROUND YOU DOING 70 MPH AND YOUR CAR HAS NO ACCELERATION, NO POWER AND YOU ARE JUST STUCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. NISSAN CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG.

TRANSMISSION MAKES GRINDING NOISE UPON ACCELERATING TO NORMAL SPEEDS FROM COMPLETE STOP, AT TIMES CAR LOSES ACELERATION AFTER DRIVEN ON HIGHWAY/FREEWAY AND COME TO A STOP, CONSTANT SHAKING AND GRINDING/SQUEAKING NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION UPON ACCELERATION.
WE PURCHASED THE CAR AS A NEW CAR DEMO. IT HAD ABOUT 5000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR RAN PRETTY GOOD FOR 60/70 THOUSAND MILES AND THEN WE STARTED NOTICING THAT WHEN WE WENT ON LONGER DRIVES(HIGHWAY), THE CAR WOULD GO INTO A "POWERLESS" STATE WHEN YOU STOPPED OR SLOWED DOWN. WE LATER BECAME FAMILIAR WITH THE TERM "LIMP" MODE OR "SAFE" MODE. THE TRANSMISSION GOES INTO THESE MODES WHEN IT IS OVERHEATING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE NO COMPUTER CODES HAD SURFACED FOR THE TROUBLE. THIS VISIT WAS AROUND 80K, WELL UNDER OUR 125000 MILE WARRANTY. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS 2014 WE WENT OUT OF TOWN AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BEING ABOUT 400 MILES FROM HOME, WE STOPPED AT A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD THEM CHECK THE CODE. THEY TOLD ME THE CLUTCH/TORQUE CONVERTER WAS MAKING A CODE POP UP. WE PRECEDED TO DRIVE HOME AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. AT THIS POINT WE HAD 119000 MILES ON IT STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY. THECHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE WE COULD GET THERE. THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN SAID NOTHING WAS SHOWING ON THE COMPUTER EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT CODE I HAD LEARNED OF BEFORE RETURNING TO THE SHOP. THEY AGAIN CLAIMED TO NOT BE ABLE TO WORK ON THE CAR WITHOUT THE CODE. I GUESS THEY AREN'T REAL MECHANICS! ANYWAYS, WE NOW HAVE 140000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE CODE IS PRESENT AGAIN AND ALL NISSAN CAN SAY IS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY OFFERED TO GIVE US "EMPLOYEE" PRICING ON A NEW CAR BUT COMPLETELY REFUSE TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR. DOESN'T MAKE US FEEL GOOD ABOUT OWNING ANOTHER NISSAN.

ONCE I GOT THE TRANSISSION PUT IN I TOKE THE VEHICLE BACK TELLING THEN WHEN AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHTS THE CAR WOULD DIE OUT. SOMETIMES THE CAR HAS NO POWER WHEN TAKING OFF. CAR HAS BEEN TO 3 DIFFERANT SHOPS FOR THE DIEING OUT, IT HAS NO CODES NO ONE CAN FIND WHATS WRONG WITH THE CAR.
AFTER A 30 MINUTES TO 1 HOUR DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE DROPS IN SPEED WHEN DRIVING UPHILL. VEHICLE SPEED DECREASES AND STAYS NO MORE THAN 35 MPH; RESULTING IN AN UNSAFE, HAZARDOUS CONDITION. NISSAN DIAGNOSIS FOUND TO BE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO REPLACE IT, P0725 AND U1000, HOWEVER CVT WARRANTY EXTENSION HAS EXPIRED.
2ND COMPLAINT OF REPEATED ISSUE, SUBSEQUENT OCCURRENCE. 2010 NISSAN ROGUE LOST POWER AND DECELERATED FROM 70 MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, HAZARDS APPLIED HOWEVER VEHICLES APPROACHING HAD TO CHANGE LANES. ON THIS OCCURRENCE A VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. PULLED OFF ROAD AND WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED ENGINE REVVED TO APPROXIMATELY 2500 RPM WITH NO FORWARD MOTION THEN LURCHED FORWARD RAPIDLY ACCELERATING THEN LOST POWER AGAIN BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION. NOTE THAT NISSAN DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, INSTRUCTED THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 120K MILES AND TO BRING TO DEALERSHIP. NISSAN STATES THIS IS THE RESULT OF TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ENTER SAFETY (ALSO KNOWN AS LIMP) MODE.
THE CAR DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND I NOTICED FLUID LEAKING. TOOK TO DEALER, AND I HAD ADDITIONAL COVERAGE FOR REPAIRS AND BREAK DOWN. THEY TOLD ME THE ENCLOSED TRANSMISSION DEVELOPED A LEAK DUE TO CORROSION. THAT CORROSION DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED, AND IT COST $400.00 TO REMOVE THE PART RATHER THAN REPLACE IT. THE CAR HAS A GRINDING VIBRATING SOUND WHEN DRIVING. THE CVT IS KNOWN TO HAVE THIS ISSUE, AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SEALED SO YOU CAN'T CHECK YOUR FLUID LEVEL AND IT IS REQUIRED TO ONLY USE NISSAN MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE CVT IS TIED INTO A FAIL SAFE MODE THAT CAN BE ACTIVATED BY HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE ENGINE. A COOLING KIT HAS BEEN RECOMMENDED BUT I HAVE READ MIXED POSTS AS TO THE DEALERSHIPS CHARGING TO PUT IT INTO THE CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN KNOWN TO TOTALLY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING IF IT GOES INTO THIS FAIL SAFE MODE OR WHEN THE CVT JUST FAILS COMPLETELY. WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 10YRS/120000 MILES FOR CVT.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE, CHROME OUTER PIECE COVER BROKE. ONE AFTERNOON, I WENT AS ALWAYS TO OPEN MY CAR DOOR AND SNAP, THE CHROME COVER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE AND THE CHROME PIECE FOR THE LOCKING MECHANISM FELL-OFF AS WELL. MY QUESTION; HAS THERE BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS PART AND/OR RECALL. I WENT TO HAVE IT REPLACED, THE COST WAS $412.00, THEREFORE I DID NOT HAVE IT REPLACED. WAS DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED FOR AN HOUR WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED RESPONDING TO ACCELERATION. GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ALLOWED THE CAR TO REST. UPON ANOTHER HOUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR AGAIN DID NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION.
PULLING AWAY FROM MULTIPLE STOP SIGNS, THE ROGUE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WITH PEDAL PRESSED TO FLOOR. PEOPLE WERE HONKING BEHIND ME AND PASSING. HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH GOING THROUGH TRAFFIC CIRCLES TO SLOW DOWN AND YIELD AND THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. ROGUE TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES TO GO UP TO 40MPH. I FINALLY HAD TO PULL OVER INTO PARKING LOT. I TURNED CAR OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO THEN TRY AGAIN. WHEN I TURNED THE ROGUE ON THIS TIME, IT SEEMED TO FUNCTION NORMAL. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE AT NORMAL SPEEDS AND ACCELERATION THE REMAINDER OF MY TRIP. MY HUSBAND AND OUR MECHANIC WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ THAT MANY PEOPLE SEEM TO HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. VERY DANGEROUS SINCE YOU EXPECT CAR TO MOVE AS YOU PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND IT DOES NOT. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ON DASH AT TIME OF INCIDENT. I HAVE NOTICED THE VDC & SLIP LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. INCLUDING TODAY ABOUT 3 HOURS BEFORE THIS ACCELERATION PROBLEM. I HAD BEEN DRIVING TO SEVERAL PLACES THROUGHOUT AFTERNOON WITH CAR SHUT OFF BETWEEN. I WOULD ESTIMATE I DROVE A TOTAL OF 60 MILES OVER A 5 HOUR PERIOD. CAR STARTED ACTING UP DURING THE LAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE MY FINAL DESTINATION. WHEN THIS TOOK PLACE, IT TOOK ME ABOUT 1 HOUR TO GO 17 MILES. NORMALLY IT TAKES ME JUST UNDER 30 MINUTES.
BOTH LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON SHOWING THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT WORK IF THE ROGUE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE ROGUE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE CENSOR'S IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WERE NOT WORKING AND WOULD NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALERSHIP CLEARED THE CODES AND RETESTED AND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WENT OUT. THREE DAYS LATER THEY CAME BACK ON. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISE THAT THE CENSOR'S WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN TOOK THE ROGUE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I ADVISED THEM OF WHAT WAS DONE AT THE PREVIOUS DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS THE PROPER PROCEDURE. I WAS ALSO ASK WHO RODE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND WHAT THEIR WEIGHT WAS. I ADVISED THEM MY WIFE RODE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT 99% OF THE TIME AND 126 LBS. WAS HER WEIGHT. I WAS THEN TOLD HER WEIGHT COULD BE PART OF THE PROBLEM? I NEEDED TO GET THE SYSTEM FIXED BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY PROBLEM???
