I WAS PULLING OUT OF A DRIVE THRU RESTAURANT ONTO A BUSY ROAD AND SUDDENLY COULD NOT STEER MY CAR TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ONTO THE ROAD
AS THE CAR PICKS UP SPPED IT LOOSES POWER .YOU CAN ONLY GO 20 MILES AN HOUR OR LESS. IF YOU LET THE CAR COOL DOWN IT WILL PICK UP SPEED BUT 15 MINUTES LATER THE SAME THING CONTINUES TO OCCURE..
VEHICLE PASSEGER AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS DEFECTIVE, AFTER SPEAKING WITH MY MECHANIC, I WAS INFORMED IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THERE WAS CURRENTLY NO RECALL. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SEAT TO THE TUNE OF $2500. NISSAN NEEDS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE " KNOWN ISSUE".
WHEN OPENING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES, THE MECHANISM USED TO OPEN THE LATCH FREEZES AND FALLS OUT OF THE LATCH DEVICE. THIS CAUSES THE DOOR TO BE INOPERABLE FROM THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE WHICH CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION.
THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS MADE ABOUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEFECT IN THE 2011 NISSAN ROUGE. MY CAR FAILED THE STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS BLINKING ON THE DASH BOARD. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AS NO ONE ELSE WAS ABLE TOO. NISSAN INFORMED ME THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE THE SENSOR IS TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AT A PRICE OF $2,000. IF THE SENSOR IS SO BURIED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT HAS TO BE REPLACED, THEN THAT IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND IS NISSAN'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. YOU WOULD THINK THAT WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND THE FACT THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, NISSAN WOULD WANT TO RECALL AND HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED! OF COURSE, THEN THEY COULDN'T COLLECT $2,000 FOR EVERY SEAT REPLACED FOR THIS DEFECT. THE WARNING LIGHT JUST STARTED BLINKING ABOUT A MONTH AGO, BUT WHO KNOWS HOW LONG THE AIR BAG HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE , MAYBE THE LIGHT DOESN'T BLINK UNTIL IT IS CRITICAL BECAUSE THE AIR BAG BUTTON ALWAYS SHOWED THE AIR BAG AS OFF NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL THE PERSON SITTING IN THE SEAT WAS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND ATTENTION SHOULD BE PAID!
MY VEHICLE GETS WATER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR, UP TO AN INCH AND CAUSES ELECTRICAL ISSUES. NISSAN STATED THEY FIXED THE ISSUE BUT DID NOT DEAL MY VEHICLE AND IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM AFTER THE FIRST FIX. WATER IS THERE WHEN DRIVING, PARKED OR ANY TIME THE ROAD IS WET OR RAINING.
NISSAN DID EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES FOR THE TRANSMISSION UP TO YEAR 2010. MY VEHICLE IS A 2011 WHICH FALLS SHORT OF THERE WARRANTY. THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVE THIS WARRANTY TO ALL THERE VEHICLES IF THEY WERE SURE THEY FIX THE ISSUE.
ELECTRICAL FUNCTION IN THE VEHICLE IT'S LIKE IT HAS A SHORTAGE IN IT. WHEN I PLUG MY GPS OR MY PHONE IT WOULD GO OUT, AND NOT CHARGING. ALSO THE USB PORTAL ALSO GOES OUT. THIS IS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING OR WHEN IT'S PARK.
CAR IS HARD TO STEER. POWER-ASSIST IS WORKING ONLY INTERMITTENTLY.
WITH NO PRIOR WARNING AS I WAS COMING UP MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNED TO GO INTO THE GARAGE, SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED.
AT AROUND 92,000 MILES (EXACTLY A MONTH AFTER MY 90,000 MILE SERVICE AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP) ON 11/15/2018, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED ON AN EXIT RAMP OF I-40 AT LEBANON, TN. THE CAR WOULD LURCH AND GO FORWARD SO I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE EXIT RAMP AND INTO A PARKING LOT. AAA TOWED CAR TO NISSAN COOKEVILLE WHERE THEY SAID A LOW PUMP PRESSURE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THEY REPLACED THIS TRANSMISSION WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE 150 MILES BACK HOME. ON 11/29/2018, WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AFTER PULLING OFF I-140 IN ALCOA, TN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. I WAS SITTING IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT 5:30PM ON A DARK, RAINY THURSDAY NIGHT. I HAD TO CALL 911. IT TOOK A POLICE OFFICER 10 TO 15 MINUTES TO GET THERE. THE AREA WHERE I WAS IS RIGHT OFF I-140 EXIT RAMP. I ENDED UP BACKING TRAFFIC UP ON AN INTERSTATE BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WRECKED INTO ME. SINCE I COULD NOT TOW MY CAR 150 MILES BACK TO COOKEVILLE, I TOOK IT TO THE ALCOA DEALERSHIP. WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE REPLACED TRANSMISSION FROM THE COOKEVILLE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. SO, I AM OUT OVER $4,000, HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION, AND HAVE NO INCOME TO BUY A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE $4,000 I SPENT 2 WEEKS AGO ON ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. I AM TERRIFIED OF CVT TRANSMISSIONS. I AM SICKENED THAT I HAVE NO RESOURCES TO HELP ME AT LEAST FIGHT THE $4,000 FOR THE TRANSMISSION THAT FAILED 2 WEEKS AFTER BEING PUT IN MY CAR. THIS CAR IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, AS EVIDENCED BY THE FACT THAT I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC IN A MAJOR INTERSECTION, IN THE RAIN, AT NIGHT, DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC. I DO NOT HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION WITH ME AS IT IS WITH MY CAR AT THE ALCOA DEALERSHIP, BUT I WILL BE WILLING TO PROVIDE ONCE I AM ABLE TO GET TO MY CAR.
I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND WHEN I ACCELERATE THE RPM'S SHOOT UP TO 6,000/7,000 WITH NO POWER AND THEN DROPS BACK OFF TO 1,000. ALMOST AS IF I HAD FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR BUT WITHOUT DOING SO.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY/ EXPRESSWAY 70 MPH WHEN CAR SUDDENLY STOPS ACCELERATING AND DROPS TO 20 MPH. FOOT PRESSED DOWN TO FLOOR AND WILL NOT MOVE. CAR WILL NOT DRIVE UP HILLS AFTER DRIVING FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE ON HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY I WAS GOING TO USE MY CRUSE CONTROL AND WHEN I PUSHED IT IT WAS NOT WORKING. AFTER THAT DAY ALL MY OTHER BUTTONS ON MY STEERING WHEEL SLOWLY STARTED TO STOP WORKING. THEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING LAST NIGHT ON A CITY STREET A CAR WAS GOING TO COME INTO MY LANE WHILE AND I WENT TO HONK MY HORN AND IT NO LONGER WORKED.

(NISSAN) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2013 NISSAN ROGUE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED MARCH 7, 2007, TO NOVEMBER 26, 2013, AND 2014 NISSAN ROGUE SELECT VEHICLES MANUFACTURED SEPTEMBER 23, 2013, TO JULY 2, 2014. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE HARNESS CONNECTOR DUE TO A MIXTURE OF SNOW/WATER AND SALT SEEPING THROUGH THE CARPET ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR NEAR THE HARNESS CONNECTOR.
ON 11/3/18, I STOPPED MY 2011NISSAN ROGUE TO LET A FRIEND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. I HAD IT TOWED TO AAA THE NEXT DAY AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THEY ADVISED ME TO CONTACT NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS BECAUSE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY SEE WITH NISSANS AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON NOVEMBER 5 AND "ADAM" WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING. HE CHECKED MY VIN # AND SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT SPECIFICALLY COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THAT NISSAN WOULD STILL BE WILLING TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COSTS. HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A NISSAN SERVICE CENTER AND HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE BY THEM AS A FIRST STEP. I TOLD HIM A DIAGNOSTIC HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE BY AAA, BUT HE SAID NISSAN HAD TO DO IT THEMSELVES IN ORDER TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. I THEN HAD THE CAR TOWED TO SANSONE 66 IN NEPTUNE CITY, NJ. I HAD ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC DONE WHICH CONFIRMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE CVT TRANSMISSION. I THEN CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AGAIN TO ADVISE THEM THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS COMPLETED. THEY TOLD ME THAT A DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT IN NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WOULD BE CONTACTING ME THE NEXT DAY WITH INFORMATION ON HOW MY PROBLEM WAS GOING TO BE RESOLVED. I WAS THEN CONTACTED BY CONSUMER AFFAIRS REP "QUINCY" ON NOVEMBER 11. SHE ADVISED ME THAT SHE WOULD BE MAKING THE DECISION ON HOW/IF NISSAN WOULD BE RESOLVING MY CVT PROBLEM. I ASKED HER IF SHE HAD RECEIVED A COPY OF THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT FROM SANSONE SO SHE COULD USE THAT TO RENDER HER DECISION. SHE SAID THAT SHE HAD NOT, BUT THAT HER DECISION WOULD IN LARGE PART BE BASED ON "CUSTOMER LOYALTY". I ASKED WHAT SHE MEANT AND WAS TOLD THAT SHE WAS REFERRING TO PAST SERVICE HISTORY AT NISSAN DEALERS. SHE DENIED ME ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR.
MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS DOES NOT WORK MY ENGINE IS SLIPPING TRANSMISSION FLUID GOING BAD AFTER ONE WEEK KEEP CHANGING IT MY AC DON'T COME ON AND WHEN I TRAVEL A DISTANCE MY CAR GO 20 MPH AND CAN'T GO NO FASTER HELP AND GOT THE PROBLEM FIX AND THE PROBLEMS STILL OCCURRING AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN I WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR SIX HOURS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED OR DECELERATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 60 MPH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.*PM*JB
EVERY TIME I'M MAKING A TURN OR PARALLEL PARK MY STEERING WHEEL PULLS BACK WITH FORCE AND LOCKS MAKING IT HARD TO STEER. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN A MONTH AGO. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE EVERY TIME I TURN THE WHEEL WILL PULL THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION LOCKING UP. MAKING VERY HARD TO CONTROL.
"TAKATA RECALL"MY 2011 NISSAN ROGUE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN MY LOCAL AREA. IT CONTINUES TO BLINK WHILE CAR IDLES AS WELL. I HAD IT LOOKED AT THAT AFTERNOON AT GARAGE. THEY SAID PROBLEM IN DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG NOT WORKING. CONFUSED AS THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE FACTORY INSTALLED AND YET I AS THE CONSUMER MUST MAINTAIN FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT AS WELL AS DAILY MAINTENANCE TO THIS VEHICLE. JUST SPENT 2000.00 DOLLARS AT NISSAN GETTING ALL MAINTENANCE REQUIRED DONE.NOW THIS TOO.
IT STARTED AS JUST A CRACKING NOISE ONLY WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE TURNS AND TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS BUT NEITHER COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WAS SO NOW MY CAR IS PARKED TIL I CAN COME UP WITH ALMOST 700 TO 800 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE CV AXELS AND MORE REPLACED .
AFTER TRANSMISSION HEATS UP WHILE DRIVING THEIR IS A LOUD WHINGING NOISE. AFTER COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE WILL STRUGGLE TO START MOVING AGAIN, POWER HESITATING AND THEN OVERREVVING. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE IS A 2011 WITH 100,000 MILES - IT SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND IS CURRENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY. THE COST OF REPLACEMENT IS $3,000. THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS 2003-2010 WARRANTY'S WERE INCREASED TO 10 YEARS 120,000 MILES DUE TO ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED AND WARRANTY'S AGAIN SHOULD BE EXTENDED FOR OWNERS OF MODEL YEAR 2011 AND BEYOND. NISSAN SHOULD STAND BY THEIR VEHICLES AND REPAIR AND REPLACE WHEN ISSUES ARISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED A HARD SHIFT AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE ABOVE 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE GEARS IN THE TRANSFER CASE FRACTURED AND THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. APPLE NISSAN (LOCATED AT 1510 WHITEFORD RD, YORK, PA 17402, (717) 755-9504) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY THE ROGUE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. AFTER STOPPING IT SLOWLY GAINED MOMENTUM. HARDLY ANY PICK UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. WHEN THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE AXLE TO ADD MORE TRANSMISSION FLUID, METAL SHAVINGS FROM THE TRANSMISSION WERE FOUND. THE DEALER (NOURSE NISSAN, 423 N BRIDGE ST, CHILLICOTHE, OH 45601, (866) 935-8801) WAS CONTACTED AND QUOTED A PRICE OF $3,000 TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,699.
THE VEHICLE'S CLEAR COAT IS PEELING OFF THE ROOF AREA, EXPOSING THE PAINT.
CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED ON THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE.
2011 ROGUE WITH 118,000 MILES THAT HAS GREAT MAINTENANCE JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING ON I 25. CONTINUED NOT TO ACCELERATE IN TOWN. SERVICE MANAGER SAID I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. 2008-2010 TRANSMISSION WERE RECALLED. WHY WASN'T THIS 2011 TRANSMISSION RECALLED? DANGEROUS SITUATION AT ANY SPEED.
WHILE DRIVING UP A STEEP HILL THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO SAFE MODE TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION FROM OVERHEATING. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A TRUCK GOING MUCH FASTER. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT ADDRESS IT. A BETTER COOLER SHOULD CLEAR UP THIS PROBLEM
FLOORS SEEM TO BE WET NOW WINDOWS ALWAYS FOGGED OR CONDENSATED ? CANT DRIVE UN TIL DRY. AFTER ITS PARKED WINDOWS JUST FOG UP I HAVE TO BRING PAPER TOWELS !
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (RON BOUCHARD'S NISSAN, 490 OLD UNION TURNPIKE, LANCASTER, MA 01523) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
AT 135,000 MILES THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE TO 50 AND REFUSED TO ACCELERATE PAST 60 DURING A 2.5 HOUR DRIVE TO ATLANTA, GA FROM COLUMBIA, SC. WE REPLACED AN ENGINE SENSOR AND SPARK PLUGS HOPING TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION AND THEN BEGAN SHAKING WHEN TGE HFS PEDAL WAS DEXPRESSED AT ALL. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE CAR CUT OFF AS MY TEENAGE SON (DRIVING WITH ME AND YOUNGER SIBLINGS AS PASSENGERS) WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN (FROM A STANDSTILL AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING) ON BACK HIGHWAYS DURING A NEARLY 2 HOUR DRIVE. WE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EVENTUALLY THE CAR BECAME DRIVEABLE, BUT ALLOWED ACCELERATION OF ONLY 35 MPH. IT TOOK US AN ADDED HOUR TO GET HOME. FOLLOWING THAT, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REFUSE ACCELERATION BEYOND 60 AND BEGAN SHAKING BETWEEN 35 AND 40 MPH. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE SHAKING HAS BECAME MORE SEVERE AND NOW ATBV138,000 THE CAR WONT START AT ALL. FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2011 ROGUE. THIS SAFETY ISSUE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN EXTREME BODILY HARM OR DEATH WHEN THE CAR INITIALLY SHUT DOWN.
JUST BOUGHT THIS 2011 NISSAN ROUGE FROM A PRIVATE PARTY AND RIGHT AFTER PURCHASE TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT PROMPTED ME TO DO SOME MORE RESEARCH THAT THERE ARE LOTS OF ROUGE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM (BAD TRANSMISSION) INCLUDING A CLOSE PERSON WHO HAS A 2016 ROUGE WHOSE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED ALREADY (2016 REALLY NISSAN!!!) NISSAN WILL NOT DO ANYTHING
AT ONLY SEVEN YEARS AND 84,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD. THE NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACING AND NOT TO DRIVE FAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH NISSAN ROGUE'S AND HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER NISSAN OWNERS. AFTER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT ONE OWNER WAS ON THE THIRD TRANSMISSION, THE DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE IS NO RECALL THEREFORE LEAVING OWNERS WITH A HUGH EXPENSE AND AN UNSAFE, UNDRIVABLE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED AS MANY TIMES AS NEEDED. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH NISSAN IS NOT FIXING THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND IS JUST REPLACING THE SAME DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION.
LOSS OF ACCELERATION WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OF THIS ISSUE NTB16-090. THIS CAR WITH NO WARNING DROPPED FROM 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY TO A DRIFT, ENOUGH TO ME TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD BUT ONLY BECAUSE I WAS GOING DOWN A SLIGHT GRADE. LUCKY FOR ME THERE WAS NOT TRAFFIC OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BECAUSE IT WAS A DRASTIC CHANGE IN SPEED IN SECONDS. WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS IT JUST BECAME A WINDING SOUND. OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CAR WOULD NOT GO IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I TURNED IT OFF FOR AWHILE AND CALLED NISSAN DEALER AND WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR BUT ONLY TO MOVE IT FURTHER OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SAME ISSUE STARTED AGAIN. VEHICLE HAD 1 OWNER PRIOR TO ME AND HAD DOCUMENTED REGULAR MAINTENANCE/SERVICE THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AT WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED.
ON JUNE 15, 2018, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND MY NISSAN ROGUE 2011 WITH A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) STARTED TO LOSE POWER FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND IT DECELERATED FROM 70 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR (MPH) IN A 70 MPH ZONE. THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE WHILE REVVING AT HIGH RPM'S. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BACK UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE MORE THAN 40 MPH AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT HIGH RPM'S. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE FREEWAY SHOULDER AND PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. I EXITED THE OFF RAMP AND STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WAS VERY SLUGGISH AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AGAIN BECAUSE IT WASN'T ACCELERATING AND WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 2 MPH. THE ONLY WAY I COULD DRIVE WAS TO DOWN SHIFT TO LOW AND DRIVE AT LOW SPEED ON SURFACE STREETS. CARS WERE HONKING THEIR HORNS BEHIND ME BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD TAKE 5 - 10 SECONDS TO MOVE FORWARD FROM A STOP SIGN. I HAD TO STAY IN LOW GEAR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE IN REGULAR DRIVE GEAR. I STOPPED AT AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOCAL AAMCO TRANSMISSION SHOP REFUSED TO WORK ON NISSAN ROGUE TRANSMISSIONS. THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT IT WOULD COST $4,500 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON A 2011 VEHICLE. I HEARD THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR NISSAN ROGUE TRANSMISSIONS BUILT BEFORE 2011. MY NISSAN ROGUE WAS BUILT IN 2011 SO THE WARRANTY EXTENSION DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE.
WHILE MY SON AND I WERE DRIVING UP IN THE HILLS MY NISSAN ROGUE 2011 AWD STALLED AND STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS CARS WERE HONKING SON PUT ON FLASHERS AND HAD GAS PEDAL TO FLOOR IT HAD NO POWER WHATS SO EVER. CVT TRANSMISSION GETS TOO HOT AND WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS OF DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. PRESS THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN RPMS WILL REV UP BUT NO ACCELERATION. COMPLETE POWER LOSS GOING UP HILL WITH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, ONLY GOING 10 MPH AND DECREASING, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WITH TRAFFIC GOING 70 PLUS. ONCE IT IS COOLED YOU CAN PULL OUT GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AND SLOWLY INCREASING TO ABOUT 40 MPH ONLY TO LOSE POWER AGAIN WITH RPMS RACING AND NO ACCELERATION.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE PA TURNPIKE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF TRAFFIC, MY 2011 ROGUE COMPLETELY LOST POWER & DROPPED THE SPEED INSTANTLY. I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO GLIDE INTO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING HIT--CARS AND TRACTOR TRAILERS WERE FLYING BY ALL AROUND ME. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH NISSAN IS AWARE OF, YET HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR 2008-2010 VEHICLES, BUT DID NOTHING TO RECALL LATER MODEL ROGUES. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS GIVEN A SERVICE BULLETIN (REFERENCE NTB16-090) DETAILING "2011-2015 ROGUE REDUCED PERFORMANCE DUE TO CVT FLUID TEMPERATURE PROTECTION LOGIC" WHEN I TOOK MY ROGUE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THE ROGUE WILL HAVE A LOSS OF PERFORMANCE AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE IN RESPONSE TO PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL IF THE "OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS 80 AND YOU ARE DRIVING IN A HILLY AREA". MY WIFE & I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE CVT THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT BUT DID NOT NOTIFY CURRENT OWNERS. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED A "FIX" WHICH IS TO INSTALL AN "AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION COOLER" AT MY OWN COST IN EXCESS OF $1,000. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL ALL VEHICLES WITH A CVT OR COVER THE COST OF THE "FIX" AND GUARANTEE THE "FIX".
THE VEHICLE CANT HANDLE HILLS NOR WARMER DAYS. ANY AMBIENT TEMPERATURE PUSHING OVER 80 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND IT'S ALMOST A GIVEN THAT THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER AND GO INTO A LIMP MODE; THIS BASICALLY MEANS THAT ITS CVT TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND NO MATTER HOW FAR DOWN YOU PUSH THE GAS PEDAL, ALL YOU GET IS A MAXIMUM OF 3000 RPMS BUT NO ACTUAL ACCELERATION. EVERY TIME IT'S DRIVEN DURING SUMMER HAS BEEN A GAMBLE ON NOT IF, BUT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. HILLS OF ANY UPHILL INCLINE OR GRADE EXACERBATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS ALL DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION NOT BEING ABLE TO BE COOLED ENOUGH WITH THE BASE MODEL OF THE VEHICLE. WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT THE PROBLEM CAN'T BE FIXED UNTIL YOU MANAGE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS BECOMES AN ISSUE INSIDE OF CITIES WHERE YOU LOSE POWER SUDDENLY AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND CAN'T ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY WHEN EXITING OR ENTERING A HIGHWAY. NISSAN KNOWS IT'S AN ISSUE AS THEY ADDRESSED IT WITH THE 2003-2010 MODELS YET HAVE CONTINUED THE SAME PRACTICE ON EVERY LATER MODEL WITHOUT ANY FIXES NOR ANY EXTENDED WARRANTIES AS THEY DID FOR THE PREVIOUSLY STATED MODELS. IN MANY CASES THEY SUGGEST AN EXTERNAL COOLING UNIT THAT HAS TO BE PAID FOR OUT OF THE CONSUMER'S POCKET. A SIMPLE SEARCH FOR CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS GIVES PAGE AFTER PAGE OF 95% NISSAN SIMILAR ISSUES AND ONE OR TWO FOR SOME OTHER CAR COMPANY THAT IS A SMALL ISSUE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM AND WHAT'S WORSE IS IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NISSAN IS BARELY OWNING UP TO. THEY ARE SELLING A SHODDY PRODUCT WITH FAULTY DESIGN AND KNOW ABOUT IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,384. *TT
THE CVT TRANSMISSION ON THE VEHICLE FAILED AT JUST UNDER 115K MILES. I FOLLOWED THE MAINTENANCE PLAN PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION INSPECTED AT A DEALER AS PART OF THAT MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A BUSY CITY STREET, AND THERE WERE NO CHECK ENGINE OR OTHER WARNING LIGHTS IN ADVANCE OF THE CAR SUDDENLY STRUGGLING TO ACCELERATE AND JERKING TO A STOP WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE. THIS HAPPENED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WITH A CHILD IN THE CAR, WHICH WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. EVEN AFTER I WAS ABLE TO COAX THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A PARKING LOT, JERKING AND PRACTICALLY STALLING ALONG THE WAY, THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR OTHER INDICATORS THAT SUBSEQUENTLY CAME ON TO INDICATE THERE WAS ANY POTENTIAL TROUBLE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR COULD ONLY SAY THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERED AN INTERNAL FAILURE AND COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT HAPPENED, WHAT CAUSED IT OR HOW THE TRANSMISSION PASSED PRIOR INSPECTION FEWER THAN 30K MILES PRIOR TO SUDDEN FAILURE. IT IS FORTUNATE WE WERE NOT REAR-ENDED WHEN THE ACCELERATION FAILED AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD SO THAT ME AND MY CHILD WERE NOT IN FURTHER DANGER ON THE ROAD. THIS TRANSMISSION IS HAZARDOUS TO HAVE IN VEHICLES AS IT CAN BRING ONE TO A STOP ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITH NO WARNING AT ALL, AND THE MANUFACTURER CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN WHY OR WHAT HAPPENED. THEY ALSO WILL ONLY REPLACE THE FAILED CVT WITH ANOTHER CVT, WHICH I BELIEVE IS UNSAFE SO I WON'T BE HAVING IT REPAIRED. THE NISSAN CVTS SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. THEY ARE AS DANGEROUS TO OTHERS IN TRAFFIC WITH ONE OF THEIR VEHICLES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AS THEY ARE TO THE OWNER/OCCUPANTS OF THAT NISSAN VEHICLE.

WHEN DRIVEN ON THE INTERSTATE,1 1/2 INTO DRIVE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. I CONTACTED 2 DEALERSHIPS LOKEY & COURTESY THAT HAD NO EXPLANATION, BECAUSE NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON THAT MEANT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THE 2ND PROBLEM I4 AGAIN. VERY FRIGHTENING AGAIN, ASKED NISSAN DEALER. AGAIN, NO WARNING LIGHT NO ISSUE. APRIL 2018. I WAS ON I75 S WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED. I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND PULLED OVER. A WARNING LIGHT DID ELIMINATE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO SUSTAIN 45 MPH AND STOPPED. I LOOKED AT THE MANUAL, IT LOOKED LIKE A MISFIRE OR EMISSION ISSUE. NO BIG DEAL, OKAY TO KEEP DRIVING PER MANUAL. IF CONTINUE, SEE DEALER. I DID NOT KNOW NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE 2008. I DROVE MY CAR HOME BACK TO TAMPA AT 9 PM. HAD I BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS NOT NORMAL I WOULD HAVE HAD IT TOWED HOME. 10;30PM I WAS ON I75 N NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN 45 MPH. I WAS IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS GOING 45 IN A 70!! I HAD 1 IDIOT TAIL ME FOR 1.7 MILES. I WAS PUT IN THAT SITUATION BY NISSAN. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE THE SALESMAN FOOLED ME INTO THINKING I WAS BUYING A SAFE CAR. IT IS THE OPPOSITE. MY CAR SHOWED ISSUES AT 33,100 UNDER WARRANTTY BUT THE DEALER PURPOSEFULLY DID NOT DISCLOSE THE DANGER. I JUST PAID $4589.00 TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT. ONLY TO HAVE IT BREAK DOWN WITHIN AN HOUR OF PICKING IT UP. DEFECTIVE BEARING. MY CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF USE FOR 1 WEEK AND COUNTING.
