TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARKED VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V032000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.
ON 12/26/2015 AT 4AM MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN MY CARPORT. MY DAUGHTER AND I COULD HAVE DIED HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY 2 GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ALERTING US. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT I WASN'T NOTIFIED OF A OPEN RECALL ON 1/26/2015 INCLUDING MY VIN FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, IN WHICH IT COULD SHORT AND CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND OVER $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE SUSTAINED TO MY HOME. NISSAN BEGAN THEIR INVESTIGATION ON 1/20/2016 AND ON 2/12/2016 THEY CONTACTED ME VIA FEDEX THAT THE HAVE NO FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS INCIDENT. I AM TOTALLY BAFFLED BY THIS BECAUSE VEHICLE FIRE IS CONSEQUENCE OF THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ON MY VIN. AND YES I HAVE INSURANCE ON BOTH MY HOME AND VEHICLE, BUT THERE IS $500 DEDUCTIBLE ON MY HOME. AND THERE IS A BALANCE AFTER MY INSURANCE PAID OFF WHAT THE VEHICLE IS WORTH AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. AND I HAD TO PUT MONEY DOWN MONEY TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE. SO I'M LEFT WITH ALL OF THE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILTY AND NISSAN HAS NONE. I AM LIVID!!!
TIRES ARE UNSAFE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE MANUFACTURED. NO TRACTION IN WET, SNOW OR ICE, CONSTANT PULLING IN THE WHEEL DUE TO THE TIRE TREAD DESIGN, PRIOR SET ON DAUGHTERS CAR LASTED ONLY 19,000 MILES, THIS TIRE HAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY REASONS,
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON AND IT HAS BEEN RESET SEVERAL TIMES. THERE ARE TWO LIGHTS THAT INDICATE THE PROBLEM ONE NEAR THE PASSENGER SEAT AND ONE ON THE DASH. I AM AWARE OF THIS BEING AN ISSUE ON NUMEROUS SIMILAR VEHICLES AND THEY HAVE BEEN RECALLED ALREADY WHY HAS THIS YEAR NOT BEEN ADDED
AFTER THE VEHICLE GETS WARM THE TRANSMISSION WILL INTERMITTENTLY WHINE (STARTED AFTER 50,000 MILES. IT INCREASES WITH SPEED AND IS MOST NOTICEABLE WITH THE WINDOW OPEN. IT ALSO STARTS TO LOOSE POWER IF YOU CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. IF YOU PARK AND LET THE TRUCK SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES THE WHINING STOPS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I ALSO HAD A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE WHICH DID THE VERY SAME THING AT ALMOST THE SAME MILEAGE. NISSAN DID REPLACE THE CVT TRANSMISSION ON THAT ONE.
SALT LAKE CITY, UT OWNER. 2012 NISSAN ROGUE S AWD, WITH A CVT. 2015 OCT, I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USE WITH 96K MILES, STILL WITHIN THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY (DIFFERENT OWNER). 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE DURING AN ATTEMPT TO VACATION, WE ARRIVE IN ST. GEORGE WITH A SMOKING ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND LOSS OF FLUIDS, LOSS OF SPEED ON FREEWAY. THE TRANSMISSION BLEW DUE TO IT OVERHEATING. IT OVER HEATING DUE TO THE POORLY MANUFACTURED COOLING PORTION OF THE CVT. WHICH RESULTING IN THE TRANSMISSION BEING OVERHEATED AND "BLOWN". THE NISSAN DEALER IN ST. GEORGE CHARGED MY PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. JUNE 6TH, 2017. (1.5 YEARS LATER, 7 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND 124,500 MILES) TRAVELING TO GRAND JUNCTION. VEHICLE STARTED MIMICKING SIMILAR ISSUES AS PRIOR, AGAIN WITH THE LOSS OF SPEED. HAD TO REPLACE THE COOLING PORTION OF THE UNIT. THEY UPGRADED IT TO THE "BETTER" VERSION (THE EXTERNAL COOLER) THAT WOULD PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION FROM OVER HEATING. JULY 7TH, 2018. 1 MONTH OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY FOR THE EXTERNAL COOLER AND 136,907 MILES. TRAVELING TO TWIN FALLS. SAME ISSUES START OCCURRING, AGAIN LOSS OF SPEED ON FREEWAY. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/9 WHERE I WAS ADVISED THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAD WENT INTO FAIL SAFE MODE 111 TIMES. LEADING TO NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ONCE AGAIN DUE TO THE EXTERNAL COOLER NOT DOING ITS JOB ONCE AGAIN. LOSS OF SPEED ON A FREEWAY IS A SAFETY HAZARD. NISSAN HAS RECALLED OTHER MODELS CVT PROBLEMS, BUT NOT THE ROGUE. PLEASE HELP US OBTAIN THAT RECALL ON ALL ROGUE MODELS REGARDLESS OF MILES. I HAVE CONTACT NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, I OPENED A CASE WHICH WENT TO REVIEW. SUBSEQUENTLY BEING DENIED FOR "GOODWILL ASSISTANCE" ON 7/10 AT 5:20 PM FOR ASSISTANCE ON ANOTHER $5,000 REPAIR DUE TO DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURING DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUTSIDE OF THE 60,000 MILE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY.
ON 10/30/15, I WAS DRIVING MY NISSAN ROGUE AND PULLED OUT AT A LIGHT IN ABINGDON, VA ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY. IT WAS DARK AND AROUND 7:00 P.M. AND HAD JUST BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY MADE A REALLY LOUD NOISE THAT SOUNDED ALMOST LIKE DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A FLAT AND THEN THERE WAS AN ODOR THAT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING ON FIRE. I GAVE IT GAS, BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED AS I WAS PUSHING THE GAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD AND UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. I HAD MY 10 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IN HER CAR SEAT IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. WITH HELP I WAS ABLE TO PUSH VEHICLE PARTIALLY OUT OF THE ROAD. MY DAUGHTER AND I SAT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR ALMOST THREE HOURS BEFORE A TOW TRUCK CAME TO PICK US UP. I CONTACTED NISSAN IN BRISTOL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER TRAIN IS NOT UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 81,000 MILES ON IT. I THOUGHT THE VEHICLE HAD A 5 YEAR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY, BUT WAS TOLD THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. MY CONCERN IS I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT. TOOK VEHICLE TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE TORQUE HAD LITERALLY EXPLODED SENDING METAL THROUGHOUT THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER RESEARCHING, I SAW WHERE NISSAN HAD REIMBURSED PEOPLE FOR TRANSMISSIONS AND EXTENDED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES. IT HAS A CVT TRANSMISSION. I WAS WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED BUT THERE IS STILL A NOISE AND THE REPAIRMAN SAID THAT I WAS GOING TO NEED TO GET A DRIVESHAFT FOR THE VEHICLE AS IT HAD BEEN DAMAGED AS WELL. I AM STILL PAYING ON THIS VEHICLE AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. MY HUSBAND CONTACTED NISSAN AND HE WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTACT NISSAN ON 11/16/15 AND WAS TOLD IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 1/13/16. BUT I HAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT A NISSAN DEALER. VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AMOCO ASKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THANK YOU. *TR
WHEN YOU ACCELERATE,THERE IS A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE THAT OCCURS FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I TOOK THE ROGUE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS BAD. I HAD IT REPLACED...AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE SQUEALING NOISE WAS BACK AGAIN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY ME THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS BAD AGAIN! THE CAR ONLY HAS A TOTAL OF 34,000 MILES ON IT AND THE 2ND BELT ONLY HAS ABOUT 500 OF THOSE MILES ON IT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ROGUE HAS A VIBRATION TO IT AT TIMES WHEN THE SQUEALING OCCURS . I ASKED THE DEALER IF THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CVT DUE TO THE SQUEALING AND VIBRATIONS WHEN ACCELERATING AND THEY TOLD ME "NO". I ASKED OTHER AUTO SERVICE SHOPS AND TOLD ME THAT IT SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE THE CVT IS STARTING TO HAVE ISSUES. I ALSO LOOKED UP PROBLEMS WITH THE ROGUE ON THESE ISSUES AND SEE THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT NISSAN IS NOT HAVING ANY RECALLS ON THIS HOWEVER, I DID FIND A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR ONE OF NISSAN'S OTHER VEHICLES(MURANGO) THAT HAS CVT SQUEALING AND SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND THAT IS BULLETIN NTB 08104 BUT NOTHING FOR THE ROGUES. WHY IS THAT WHEN THEIR TRANSMISSIONS ARE ALMOST THE SAME?
DUNLOP TIRES APPEAR TO BE EXTREMELY WORN CONSIDERING I BOUGHT THIS 2012 NISSAN ROGUE IN JANUARY OF 2013(JUST BEFORE RETIRING ) AND MY MILEAGE IS JUST UNDER 18,000 AS I AVERAGE 6000MILES YEAR
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CAR WON'T TAKE OFF WHEN AT STOP LIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER INTERMITTENTLY BUT DID NOT STALL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000.
JUST BOUGHT THE CAR @ 33,000 MILES. NOTICED ALMOST IMEDIATELY THAT THERE WAS SOME WHINING AND SQUEALING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AT VARIOUS TIMES AND SPEED (BOTH ON CITY STREETS AT LOWER MPH AND ON HIGHWAYS) IT WOULD STOP WHEN I DEPRESSED THE EXCELLERATOR. IT WASN'T CONSTANT AND I COULDN'T PIN POINT WHEN IT WAS ACCURING BUT IT HAPPENED ENOUGH. READ ALL SORTS OF THINGS AND SIMIALR STORIES WITH THESE NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS, SO I CALLED THE DEALER (CARMAX) AND THEY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND TOOK IT IN. THEIR GUYS AGREED ADND SEND IT TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AS IT'S UNDER WARRANTY, THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IS TRYING TO SAY IT MIGHT BE THE WHEEL BEARINGS. I'M BESIDE MYSELF AND THE CARMAX SERVICE PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING FOR ME AS THEY AGREE WITH ME. MY RESEARCH SHOWS NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM OVER SEVERAL NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS ON NUMEROUS MAKES OF VEHICLES.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AND A NEW AIRBAG MODULE WAS NEEDED AT A COST OF $1,500 AND I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW SEPT, 2013; ALSO PURCHASING ADVANTAGE PREFERRED EXTENDED WARRANTY AT THAT TIME. THE DEALER ADVISES THAT WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
COMING HOME ON I-94 SOUTH OF MADISON, WI. HAD THE CRUISE SET AT 75 MPH STARTED GOING UP A SLIGHT GRADE AND THE CRUISE KICKED OFF SO I APPLIED GAS TO THE POINT I HAD THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND STILL LOSING SPEED, SLOWED TO 55 MPH UNTIL I CRESTED THE HILL AND GAINED SPEED FOR THE NEXT HILL AND AGAIN SLOWED TO 60 MPH AND THEN GAINED SPEED AGAIN ON THE FLAT PARTS. I MADE IT TO MY EXIT, STOPPED, PUT IT IN PARK, THEN IN DRIVE, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY BUT FOR HOW LONG, IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF THE END? THERE IS 86,000 MILES ON IT AND THE MORE I RESEARCH IT THE MORE IRRITATED I GET, IT IS DOING THE SAME THING ALL THE OTHER ONE'S ON YOUTUBE VIDEO'S FROM 2008 TO 2010. THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CVT HAS TO BE EXTENDED FOR ALL CVT'S NO MATTER WHAT YEAR, THESE THINGS ARE AN ABOMINATION AND I HAVE NO MONEY FOR A REPAIR LIKE THIS. IN ADDITION, WHEN CHANGING GEARS, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED BACK INTO THE PARK POSITION AND WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERLOCK BRAKE SHIFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. UPDATED 11/20/15*LJ, 03/23/18 *JB
WHILE PULLING OUT ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, MY TRANSMISSION STALLED, AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST BE REAR ENDED BY A LOGGING TRUCK GOING 65MPH OR MORE. THE RPM'S OF THE VEHICLE WILL JUMP TO OVER 5000 WHILE TRYING TO PUSH ON THE GAS WITHOUT ACCELERATION. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH NISSAN TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DONE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS THE PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, COSTING $5,000. THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED ANOTHER PART (SOME KIND OF TRANSMISSION COOLER) TO KEEP THE TRANSMISSION FROM OVERHEATING, WHICH WAS NEVER COMMUNICATED TO ME THROUGHOUT MY OWNERSHIP. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT IN 2010, NISSAN EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO 5 YEARS/120,000 MILES DUE THIS CVT PROBLEM. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT WARRANTY IS FOR MODEL YEAR 2010 AND OLDER AND THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. HOWEVER, I BEG TO DIFFER. ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT INTO MOVING TRAFFIC, CROSSING INTERSECTIONS, AND CARS STALLING OUT IN THE WINTER IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED AND CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL.
WHEN DRIVING THE CVT TRANSMISSION WILL OVERHEAT AND LOSE ALL POWER, USUALLY WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY FOR A TIME FRAME OF 20 MINUTES TO AN HOUR OR SO INTO YOUR TRIP, WHICH REALLY SUCKS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING BUT HOPE YOU GET TO THE SAFETY OF THE SIDE BEFORE YOU ARE SMASHED BY AN 18 WHEELER OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE WHICH COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS AND WILL NOT RECALL THESE TRANSMISSIONS MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 OR 4 YEARS OLD AND I WILL NOT TAKE IT ON TRIPS OVER 50 MILES OR SO. I HAVE NOTICED MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE AND NISSAN WILL NOT FIX IT THEY ACTUALLY LESSENED THE WARRANTY IN 2010 FROM 10 YRS 120,000 MILE TO 5 YR 60,000 WITHOUT REALLY ADDRESSING THE ISSUE! NISSAN HAS LOST MY RESPECT AND WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER UNLESS THIS ISSUE IS TAKEN CARE OFF THROUGH A MASSIVE RECALL!
THE POWER TRAIN FAILED TO PROVIDE POWER TO THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE, I HAD TO SLOW DOWN ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE TIL POWER CAME BACK WHEN I SHIFTED IT TO NEUTRAL, THEN BACK TO DRIVE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND FOUND THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION THEY PUT IN THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS AND NO RECALL WAS MADE. THEY ASSERTED THAT MY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THIS TELLS ME THAT THEY ONLY MAKE A CAR THAT LAST 85K MILES THEN YOU HAVE TO REPLACE A MAIN PART OF THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS WAS ALSO UNSAFE ON THE ROAD DUE TO IT LOSING POWER DUE TO POOR QUALITY OF PARTS. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY JUST HITTING 3 YEARS OLD. I DID HOWEVER MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT AND HAVING TO PAY FOR A USED TRANSMISSION TO BE PUT IN.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE FROM ABOUT 68 MPH DOWN TO 40 MPH. I WAS PRESSING THE PEDAL DOWN MORE AND MORE TO TRY AND ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT JUST KEPT GOING SLOWER AND SLOWER AS THE MINUTES PASSED BY. SOON I WAS DRIVING SLOWER THAN THE BIG SEMI'S AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE LAST LANE (SLOWEST LANE) BECAUSE I COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH THE REGULAR FLOWING TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENS TO ME. I HAD THIS PROBLEM LAST YEAR AND NISSAN HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. NOW WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION AND 30,000 MILES INTO IT, THE SAME THING IS BEGINNING TO HAPPEN. I TRULY BELIEVE THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN ARE DEFECTIVE AND UNRELIABLE. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR FOR 2 HOURS BEFORE THIS PROBLEM BEGINS. EVERYTHING ON THE PANEL INDICATES THAT THE CAR IS PERFORMING FINE BUT THEN IT GOES INTO THIS "AUTO SHUT OFF" MODE AND THE CAR STOPS PERFORMING CORRECTLY.
2012 NISSAN ROGUE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ACCELERATING ON A 2 LANE MERGE FROM ONE INTERSTATE ONTO ANOTHER PUTTING THE OCCUPANTS AT RISK WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NISSAN HAS A LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT ALLEGEDLY WAS RESOLVED AFTER A REDESIGN. NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE (NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY D/T MILEAGE BUT DECLINED TO APPLY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS IN PLACE FOR EARLIER MODELS). I HAVE A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE WITH CURRENTLY ABOUT 98K MILES. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN THE CAR MADE A SOUND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE ACCELERATION ISSUES. AFTER GETTING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, ANY TIME THAT I HAD TO ACCELERATE UP A HILL OR FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD STALL, SOMETIMES MOVING AND OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. THIS BECAME DANGEROUS WHEN I WOULD TRY TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A STOP LIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR TO BE LOOKED AT BY NISSAN WHO EXPLAINED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE OVER $4000. NISSAN HAS HAD RECALLS ON OTHER CVT MODELS BEGINNING WITH THE 2013, AND I BELIEVE THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. ADDITIONALLY, MANY TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOPS THAT I CALL CANNOT WORK WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION.
I HAVE ONLY HAD MY USED. NISSAN ROGUE FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF. I ALWAYS KEEP UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AS I WAS DRIVING FROM DALLAS, TX UP TO OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. ABOUT ONE HOUR INTO THE DRIVE UP TO OKLAHOMA, THE SPEED BEGAN TO DROP WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE VIHECHLE WAS NOT OVER HEATING, AND I HAD ORIGINALLY SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 70 MPH. AS CARS WERE PASSING BY, IT SLOWLY BEGAN TO DECREASE IT'S ACCELERATION. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I STEPPED ON THE GAS IT WOULD NOT GO UP IN SPEED. I WAS NOT EVEN GOING UP HILL AT THIS POINT. THE SPEED LIMIT MUST HAVE BEEN AT ABOUT 70 MPH AND MY ROGUE'S SPEED KEPT DECREASING AND OTHER CARS, AND 18-WHEELERS KEPT PASSING US. TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS ONLY GOING 35 MPH. I HAD TO STOP AND PULL OVER FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND THEN IT BEGAN WORKING NORMAL. I FIRST THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A ONE TIME THING. NOW AFTER A FEW TRIPS IT HAS BECAME A REAL PROBLEM. I AM GOING TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BY NISSAN. TODAY ON MY WAY TO WORK (ABOUT A 40 MIN. DRIVE FROM HOME) AS I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY I CAME TO A FULL STOP AT A RED LIGHT, ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN MY CAR WAS STILL ON BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS. I HAD TO TURN MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON TO LET THE CARS BEHIND ME PASS ME. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED MY USED ROGUE I MADE A DRIVE FROM DALLAS TX, TO NEW ORLEANS, LA. AND I HAD NO PROBLEMS. NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION, AND JUST TWO DAYS AGO I HEARD AA STRANGE RATTLING NOISE. I FINALLY HAVE SOME TIME OFF TOMORROW AND I AM GOING TO GET SOME ANSWERS AND SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO GET THIS FIXED, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM!
THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE READING INCORRECTLY. FOR EXAMPLE A FULL TANK WILL GIVE ME A RANGE OF 235 MPG, WHILE IT SHOULD BE OVER 300 MPG. I HAVE 2012 NISSAN ROGUE AWD. 2ND TEST WITH THE TANK HAS 3/4 OF A TANK AND THE RANGE WAS AROUND 189 MPG. I WENT TO NISSAN DEALER AND TESTED SAME YEAR AND MODEL WITH HALF OF A TANK AND GAVE ME 165 MPG. DEALER ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT. QUOTE FOR REPAIR: $119. TO DIAGNOSE. $420. FOR SENDER UNIT AND SUB-SENDER UNIT (VEHICLE IS AWD) AND $263. FOR LABOR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON IT TO FIX THAT ISSUE AND NOT TO CHARGE PEOPLE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS.
ANYTIME YOU TRY TO START IT, IT CAN BE STARTED DURING THE SECOND TRY, SOMETIMES YOU CAN SMELL SMOKE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION SOMEHOW.

THIS SUMMER WE DROVE OUT TO ARIZONA DURING A RECORD HIGH HEAT WAVE AND ONCE AGAIN THIS TIME DRIVING 75 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, IT DISENGAGED AND I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR DOWN AND THE CAR SLOW TO 60MPH ON FLAT GROUND. THEN ON A SLIGHT INCLINE THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO 45MPH IN A 70MPH ZONE. OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT WITH MY FAMILY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SO I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY SAID SORRY WE CANNOT HELP YOU. THEY DO NOT EVEN OWN UP TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! NISSAN ROGUE 2012 TEST DRIVE THEM IN THE HOTTEST PART OF THE SUMMER AND I WOULD RECOMMEND TO DRIVE IT UPHILL DURING THIS TIME.

WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE THROTTLE WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE RPM'S OR VEHICLE SPEED. POWER SERSUMED AFTER ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS. ADDITIONALLY WHEN STARTING FROM A RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND FROM THE THROTTLE BEING DEPRESSED AND WOULD ONLY MOVE AT ABOUT 5 MPH FOR 5-10 SECONDS THEN POWER WOULD RESUME. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN 2 WEEK PERIOD. FIRST SERVICE VISIT THEY DUPLICTED THE CONDITION AND REPLACES BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR. AFTER THREE DAYS ISSUE RETURNED. SECOND VISIT THE ADJUSTED BRAKE SENSOR. NOW HAVE CAR BACK AND WILL SEE IF ISSUE IS RESOLVED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
